Been going to this bar since I came out of the closet it’s my first gay bar. It’s always been my bar, Thanks changed new owners. For the best they got a new hot bartender Super nice, beautiful smile drinks are Good and decently Priced The parking lot guy always helped me get out every single time and I always got a drink fast. The music’s good. The owner is nice.
In from out of town, stopped by for a quick nightcap. Found pleasant conversation with a couple other regulars and the new owner came and introduced himself. Ive been in the bar biz for many years an can appreciate his visions for many of the things we discussed about the bar. You will always have push back with change from stagnant bar flies whom do not possess the ability to hold a decent conversation, but those are few and far between. I absolutely loved the space, the vibe, and will most def recommend this place as a stop for my fellow gays who live close or are traveling. Good Job! Cant wait to come back!
My friends and I have been coming here for years. It seemed to be the last bastion of actual communal enjoyment of the bear community. Although due to the new management Im starting to think its no longer that. The new decor, the stripping of entertainment on the TVs, and the curfew of the patio is leaving a bad taste in my mouth about whats to come for a staple gay bar in this state. The incident Im referring to in particular regards a patron bringing in outside liquor, and although this was most likely seen on camera, the new owner (I presume) thought it appropriate to punish the entire populace, and bring them inside on a hot summer evening, of which most of us were simply trying to enjoy a warm summer evening over drinks and a few smokes.Im not saying I wont come back, but this definitely raises some doubts about how certain isolated incidents are going to be handled in the future, which will affect other patrons far less patient than I about the ostricization of clientele, regarding said incidents.
Horrible bar. I am from another state. Actually came under cover to do a review on the bar itself and staff. While sitting at the bar I waited 20 minutes for a drink and it was little to no one there. Staff is not attentive at all. I ordered one drink and I sat at the bar alone until I left. Not to mention while leaving the staff told security to follow me which he did. While I was walking out security was walking behind me with a wand. Multiple signs throughout the time I was there seemed as if they did not want someone who looked like me in their establishment. I do not recommend and will be posting my video to TikTok and insta.
First of all, it reeks in here. I know some bars have theme nights where they do unsavory things that make the place not smell nice and dont clean properly? Idk. It was nauseating after a while. Also noticed that the same drink I ordered had a different price based on the bartender. I neglected to say something because I didnt want there to be a discussion and then the same drink is now another different price. I ended up leaving after an hour. The place is highly rated so maybe im not the target audience.
My experience here has always been excellent. Great bar to casually meet people as well as party. Lots of new and exciting changes to look forward to.
The Halo is definitely not a place to have fun. The Manager, Matt, is beyond unprofessional. My advice, any bar but Halo.
Halo is one of my favorite queer spaces. Awesome patio, pool, big dance floor and great drink prices.
This place started out slow but they all made me feel so very welcome. I met Sammy the bartender and the owner and they were wonderful. The pool table was busy and entertaining. The clientale were various and also very nice. I found my bar away from home in Detroit. The area looks sort of run down but that ads to the mystique and wonder of the place. The drinks are reasonably priced as well. I like darkened windows and southern accents this far north. I felt right at home. I found out the the ownership changed under 2 years ago and judging by the niceties it might have been for the better. Hayloft is a gem, a little rough but a gem none the less.
Went in for some drinks w mom and sister and friend. No idea it was a leather bar but the bartender was incredible accommodating and informative. He made us feel at home. The bar at 6 on a Friday was so sedate it made me laugh because it was far from empty.
I had no idea what I was waking into, came in from Cleveland and just happened in this nice place. Our bartender, I wish I got his name, so welcoming! He knew we were out of towers and suggested a couple of other places, but we stayed till our ride came. Thank you for the fun place.
Popped in for drinks with some friends from out of town. Bartender was super nice and the atmosphere was pretty chill
Love this place! Nice mature mixed crowd. This placed opened in 1980. In 1988 I moved from Detroit to Los Angeles. Im a African American male. Ive gone to many Detroit bars in prior to moving to L.A. but I never even knew the Hayloft existed. Just last month I was visiting family in Detroit, and a friend told me about this place. The Hayloft has a more mature mixed crowd (35 to 60, black, white, hispanic) just like what Ive become used to in L.A. The ambience is Casual, Fun, Friendly, but not over the top with drama. Good drinks, decent music, and friendly bartenders. Even the security guy in the parking lot was friendly and helpful.Ill be coming back to Detroit this coming Thanksgiving with my partner. The Friday after Thanksgiving, I will definitely be stopping by the Hayloft again. If youre an interracial gay couple visiting Detroit, youll find yourself quite comfortable at this place.
Stopped in on a visit while in town, did not feel like a stranger... met a lot of fun people and had great conversations the entire night (we call it being fresh meat). I honestly enjoyed the night, drinks are nicely poured (meaning pretty strong). If you cant find someone to converse with here, youre not trying.
The Hayloft used to be great! Now, its not. Sundays were the best because Jason would have Showtunes Sunday all day! Now that hes gone, so are the Showtunes. The new staff has zero personality and cant carry a conversation. I wouldve thought that with new ownership maybe the place would get cleaned, new paint, something... But no. Nothing. The drinks are strong and cheap. Ill at least give it that compliment. I miss what this place used to be years ago. Those days are gone.
Last Friday was my 1st time going and loved it no door cover at all which I loved. Even though its a bear bar the crowd was nice and mature the way I like it with no riff raff or drama queens who want to be the center of attention (go to Gigis which is not too far from there for the immature shenanigans ) anywho, the bartender was a very nice guy who gave me a great welcome to the bar, the drinks were cool for your moneys worth. I would definitely cone back again indeed! If you want to do something different beside doing the same bar every Friday or Saturday I recommend the Hayloft Saloon to you.
My friend and I think this is a great bar. Visiting from Cleveland we werent familiar with the bar scene so we just happened to pick this place to try. The bar tenders are very friendly, especially Tim. We even talked with the owner, J(sp?), another very friendly person. Nice prices as well.
Most fun Gay club ...very inclusive and one can meet amazing people here. The owner does its best to keep all patrons safe and feeling like a family. The service one gets here is also good.
Great environment and drinks. The prices are decent. My only issue is the Karen they have that comes on Tuesdays. Besides the Karen this place is amazing.
I always have a Great time at the Hayloft. Excellent drinks, Beer is Cold and the Men are Hot. Bear/Levi/Leather bar. GRT outdoor patio!
Loved it! Good vibes!
Awesome place it is a smaller bar but fun and the bartenders was nice and never a cover and didnt cost to park and the have draft beer for those who like it
The atmosphere is friendly, the music is always funky and cool and the cocktails are amazing!
Nice establishment, environment was friendly and clean, everyone was welcoming to my wife and I.
Who is asking for better than this?!?
Amazing time at Hayloft! By far Detroit sexiest bartenders. Come and see for yourself!
Was there last night. Not a huge bar but people very friendly and bartenders very nice!
Love this place the guys are hot and smoking the strip shows are to die for
My home bar. This is family and I love every one of them!!
One of the last gay bar in Detroit. Support the gay community.
