Chifrijos LLC Restaurant & Bar

Overall, for our party of 2, we enjoyed our time, food and cocktails. That was unfortunately overshadowed by a feeling of deception upon receiving the bill from the owner who did not alert our party of the over 15% gratuity that was automatically added. Luckily, I reviewed my bill and caught it. Upon approaching the business owner, I politely asked if they could educate patrons ahead of time on their gratuity practices and policies. Per the owner, they automatically add gratuity on bills over $100. Times are fiscally tender and challenging and most folks do good just to contribute 10% gratuity THATS not mandated..its just customary in our state to tip. As a business owner myself, clear is kind and unclear is not kind..Future patrons should be informed so they can budget accordingly and consent to what they are showing up for. Its very customary to automatically add gratuity on parties of 5+ AND to recommend suggested gratuity for all other parties. To automatically add 15%+ gratuity on bills over $100 means that EVERY part of a partrons experience must be above par. Transparency is just best business practice. There is a lot of promise for this establishment and hopeful that they are open to evolving so that they can maintain roots in that community. If it werent for the gratuity snafu, wed give 41/2 stars overall. ✨️

Food and drinks were delish. The price for food is fair considering all the local restaurants in the area charge about the same. Gratuity is automatically included, too, but the staff are friendly. And yes, not many people are working, but they are also not as busy either. You wont have to worry about being rushed out of there. The owner came to us and made sure everything was just right several times. Its definitely a nice place to vibe and bring your groups. The new location has ample space.

I was excited to find this restaurant. The food offerings looked delicious. My wife and I were excited to try. We phoned in an order and raced down to pickup our lunch. At home, excitement was quickly met by disappointment when I saw they messed up our order. My wife had asked for noodles in the Tallarin Saltado but was given rice instead. I ordered a steak quesadilla but received chicken. The food was ok but I would have liked to receive what we ordered. 3/5

I just moved to Ansonia and went out to eat for the first time and what an incredible dining experience I had Chifrijos Restaurant!First, I went there late and they had just closed the kitchen (at the end of the 3rd quarter of the Celtics game on Sunday night)seeing I was disappointed they offered to make the food and I was very happy. They went above and beyond to cater to my needs.The quality of food was exceptional - every bite was bursting with flavor and freshness. The menu offered a great variety of options, and the portions were generous to say the least.The ambience was warm and inviting, with a vibrant atmosphere that perfectly balanced modern style and traditional charm. The decor was tasteful and elegant, while I was enjoying my meal, the owner Gustavo came over, introduced himself and welcomed me to his restaurant. I thought that was great.What truly impressed me, though, was the impeccable cleanliness and attention to detail, the facilities were sparkling clean.Overall, Chifrijos Restaurant has earned a well-deserved 5 stars from me. If youre looking for an outstanding dining experience that checks all the boxes, look no further! Cant wait to come back and savor more of their culinary delights!

We had my sisters 30th birthday here. Gustavo the owner let me do a little setup with cake and balloons....he even played the happy birthday song twice.....when she came into the restaurant and when we cut her cake. He was super accommodating and a pleasure to work with. The food was so fresh and tasty! We ordered a seafood Jalea. It was so fresh and crispy! My dad even joked if they had just gotten the fish from the sea? Best fresh seafood dish Ive had. We ordered a variety of dishes for a party of ten and everything was delicious. The restaurant was spacious enough that when my kids got a little bored they enjoyed sitting and playing by the nice couches they have. I even had one of my girls fall asleep and the coaches were so convenient! I definitely enjoyed myself here. Had like a nice club setting vibe.....great music and lighting but not so loud, I was still able to have conversation with my family visiting from NY. Usually, Im very nervous about other guests with 4 little ones....but we all truly enjoyed being at Chifrijos! Great atmosphere 🔥 Sorry we did not take pictures of food because we were truly enjoying it...we were starving and we went straight for the food....no time for pictures 🙂

Such a fun place! Beautifully decorated, up beat Latin music! The food is delicious & authentic.

We had a birthday party after tasting the food the day before randomly stopping in. The food was delicious from steak rice and beans, chicken tostones, chicken nachos to camarones in ceviche. The owner Gustavo and his wife had lots of hospitality. They introduced themselves and made us feel very comfortable and at home. We will be back very soon. Thank you for everything, Angel Morales.

I love the atmosphere (music, lights and decoration), food was great, one of the best ceviches that I ever had, for dessert I had alfajores, they were sooo tasty. They have a really BIG menu, so go when you are starving. Drinks were strong.Staff was good at the beginning was only 1 person and then 2, so was kinda slow at the beginning, but they were super friendly and explained everything to us. Personally, I didnt like they already add 20% of tip and we went for happy hour and they forgot to made that discount too.

Had a girls night here a few nights ago! My sister said this place was good, so I decided to check it out. The restaurant itself was really nice! I love the lighting and the music. Really chill vibes. We ordered 3 things and all shared. We started with Chicharron De Cerdo. Ive never had this before and wow was it delicious! Luckily we got two orders and it definitely all went! The Yuka fries were so tasty too! We also ordered shrimp Ceviche which was really good ! We ended with the 3 steak tacos but sadly where not good. The steak tasted like dirty grill. They do have potential tho and they took it off the check which was nice! The service was great and I will 100 percent return.

Came to have dinner and drinks with my boyfriend! Amazing atmosphere, food was great, drinks were phenomenal. Customer service was the cherry on top! We will be returning!!!

I really love to support local businesses and I have tried this place once before and decided to give it another shot and invited my Father and son this time. Service was not good, very slow and there were only two other people when we ordered our food, our food took 1 hour and some change to be ready. No flavor, my chifirijo was like a sopa everything was swimming in bean juice. My sons tostones were not fresh. I was very disappointed this place has a lot of potencial but it needs better management, the vibes were dead sad music on a beautiful Sunday afternoon (place was pretty much empty). For the prices and the type of establishment better is expected and better management is needed. We spend 100 and we’re completely dissatisfied $15 gratuity to someone who not ONCE asked if we needed anything during our meal (wanted to order my juice), in fact to leave the restaurant it took us another 30+ minutes.

Awesome new spot in Ansonia.. go check it out. The chicken chunks and pork chunks fried with yuca fries were amazing. Drinks were pretty good to.

The food is delicious! However they over promised on the NYE event, and slipped in an incredibly high amount of taxes and gratuity on the check for subpar service, our water was never filled so I had to drink my husbands. The owner didn’t provide an event menu and then went back and forth with my husband when he asked him to slow down and explain the options. Music could have been a lot more fun considering it was the last night of the year, we ended up leaving before our champagne toast which was included in our package because we got bored. 🥱 This place has potential but they need to provide better customer service and not charge like they are in NYC.

I am going to get to the point this place sucks. Literally... The owner is rude and disrespectful. I made reservations for new years eve and turned out to be a nightmare. Customer service was bad never even refilled our water jug. The food was bad I was served a dried piece of salmon the mashed potatoes tasted like mayonnaise. And the veggies were dried with no flavor. He offered 2 drinks the main course desert appetizer and champagne at midnight with party hats included in this package and iinstead none of that was presented. Only the main course. Even the music sucked no DJ as promised. Very poor customer service! That is not the way to run a professional establishment.

Loved everything about this restaurant. Felt like a little vacation. Setting and service is amazing! Food was even better. Hit every spot. Gustavo the owner personally makes sure you have anything you need. I love how it feels more authentic than commercial. Definitely will be a regular.

I ordered the birria tacos, and oh, what a delicious mess 😆 I was just dripping in it, so dont wear anything you dont want to get dirty. The meat was so tender, with bits of fat that just melted in your mouth, and the cheese had some serious pull to it. The sauce was mouth-watering, giving the tacos an extra blast of umami. The service was so friendly and attentive, even getting me something to tend to the sauce I managed to drip on my top. The environment definitely gives more bar vibes as opposed to restaurant, however, its structured to accommodate both. My only complaint was that it was a bit pricier than I anticipated, but I had a great time, so who cares.

A friend and I had dinner here for the first time and the food was excellent! The atmosphere was very relaxing and fun. And the wait staff were very good. The owner was very friendly and accommodating! We would definitely recommend this restaurant, and I will absolutely return!

I was not pleased with this experience… As a business owner myself I expected at least a little respect from staff and owner. Food was extremely overpriced and the gratuity fee was off the hook. Me and my friends end up leaving before midnight because of how unpleasant the experience was. The music could have been way better and there was no DJ as I was told there would have been. I will not be going here again and will not be recommending this to friends or family

I think the dry ice encrusted flashing cube in my margarita was left over from a Halloween party the night before.Great traditional chifrijos dish (combination of rice, beans, chicharron [fatty, fried pork] avocado and pico de gallo)Smallish restaurant with bar. I can see it being loud when crowded. We went for lunch on a Saturday (after Halloween) and were their only dine-in customers! Couldnt believe it. Friends who recommended it were with us.Service was good. Kitchen was quite slow, but everything came out at once and was very freshly made and delicious. Everyone enjoyed their food!My only knock on the food would be that I felt the pico de gallo on the chifrijos was was a bit too acidic for my taste.If you are local I heartily suggest you try it.

I have been looking for a great place to get Peruvian food since I moved to the area. So glad to have found this place. Chicken chaufa was delicious and a generous portion as well. Will be back soon!

Gave them another chance and they did not have what I ordered, it was my favorite dish and they no longer make it which is sad. They havent had the luck of being able to remove it from the online menu. I spoke with the restaurant manager whos name is Gustavo and he made it right and offered me other options and also gave acknowledgement to my previous review. The fact that he called and also offered other options was amazing. This is a perfect example of how great customer service can fix any situation. Thank you for the great service

All I will say is 10 stars against the board. The drinks were definitely good and strong . I got the pool party drink with the cute lil ducky in it . Food was flavorful , colorful and tasty . I got the steak lomo portions were good too. Not but least the dj was awesome played the latest Spanish music mixed in a bit of r&b, reggae, hip hop. The place is beautiful and clean . My waitress was lovely always checking back to make sure we were ok. 5 ⭐️’s

This place in the evening has such a nice vibe of good food mixed with good music! Our waiter was so nice and recommended amazing drinks and food for our table! Very nice and portions are bigger than expected so if you want to go to feel full this is the place to be! I’m coming back!

This place is a hidden gem! It has a Miami vibe and everything is super clean (including the bathrooms!) The drinks are delicious and so is the food. The chicken wings are nice and crispy. I have been here a few times and never had a bad meal! Plus, the staff treats you like family! Gustavo and Astrid are so friendly! I cant wait to go back here!

I Order a skirt steak to go and I was extremely dissapointed im a huge steak lover and the steak seemed like it was microwaved rather than grilled

Ordered online on slice and when I got to the restaurant they told me that slice doesn’t notify them when they get an order so they hadn’t made it yet. I ordered it 25 min before and was told it would take 20 min to make the food. The lady I spoke to was very nice, not blaming her at all, but if that’s the case you guys should be checking slice periodically to see if there’s been any orders or just stopping using slice. it was my first time here and very disappointed in the experience and the birria tacos were not that great either. hate to write a bad review

Never a bar experience when we go here. The food is amazing, the drinks are fantastic and the owner is a great guy, very friendly. The inside in clean and cute as is the outside seating area. 10/10 recommend

The food was really good, you can taste all the flavors. We were surprised at the calamari, it was amazing! We had the chicken chifrijo, amazing! We also had the steak burrito and the rice with steak and beans. Overall we were pleased (I am Latina so I tend to judge Latin placed hard) Eddie and Eric were so sweet! Gustavo who is the owner went to every table to see how everyone was,I was impressed! This was our first night out after the pandemic, Im glad we chose this place. If you havnt tried this little spot its a must!!

Food was ok. Atmosphere was a bit busy not sure what they’re going for? Miami vibe, Costa Rican name and main dish but the rest of the dishes are Peruvian? Super loud so not a place to go on a date for conversation. Staff was friendly and accommodating and the drinks were really good.Edit 3/28/2021Went back with a large group and this place definitely found its identity. Food, service and drinks were superb.

First time here, what a great experience. Food is terrific, flavors are amazing, fresh ingredients, terrific drinks. My caipirinha was just as good as what I’ve had in Rio. My meal was amazing and the homemade hot sauce was to die for. Service is what really put me over the edge. Gustavo was a gem and he deserves to have a successful business simply because he is so spot on as a host. He makes you feel welcome and sitting in this place was just a treat. Our waitress was so nice and helpful, very friendly and a terrific knowledge of the menu. I will absolutely be back and highly recommend to all. A new gem in Ansonia.

Went the day before Holloween(Saturday). Very nice atmosphere and the owner was very attentive. The food was excellent and abundant. You dont go away hungry! Excellent addition to the growing Ansonia Main St. restaurant population. A must try!

Food is tasty, when they get it right. On my first order it was missing a whole lomo that I was charged for and because I ordered through Uber they wouldn’t send a new one. Was told to figure it out and call them myself. Have ordered numerous times every single time I order pizza from them they tell me they’re out of stock. Every time. SMH disappointing to say the least.

The food here was amazing. My wife had something that was four tacos, it was the best thing I tried in a long time! Im knocking it though because its pretty expensive.

The Lomo Saltado is great. Nice owners, we get take out frequently from here. Sometimes it takes a while for the food to be ready, even after arriving at the correct time. But I was offered a beer and their homemade limoncello while I waited. That’s great customer service!

Stopped in just to grab an Uber Eats order - the atmosphere was cool, and the staff was very kind, and nice to my daughter. I asked to use the bathroom while I waited for the order, and even the bathroom was kinda gorgeous. Hoping to eat here sometime!

The food was excellent. Very well seasoned., didnt even need salt.. I had the seafood in a bowl with rice and really fresh ingredients. The avocado and pico de gallop kicked it up a notch.. I topped it off with the best cappuccino I had in a long time. Smooth and creamy and frothy..yes! I will be back..oh and they make the best mojito around..everything was awesome ..service, food and atmosphere!

A fun atmosphere and great food. All of the staff was very friendly. The menu had a lot of different options from a few different countries, creating a unique experience. Ill be going back again, and Im also curious to check out the night life scene.

Is good place for eat, the restaurant is Costa Rica and Peru, delicious plates and have bar.

I ordered the grilled chicken with rice and (tostones) plantains. The chicken was tough and tasteless. The plantains were put under the chicken, making them soggy and inedible. The beans were beans out of a can with no flavor or no seasoning. I called them prior to my delivery being delivered the music was so loud they couldn’t hear me and he had the nerve to say that it was my phone. I just hung up. It’s also super expensive for no flavor food!

Fabulous drinks, delicious food and great atmosphere. Owner even came to introduce himself and gave us a little background information of his business. If you stop in make sure to ask about the logo if you can’t figure out what it depicts.

My friends and I arrived before last call (12:18 a.m.). When my friends started walking to the door, we heard the door lock. People were still inside and music was still going. I’ve been in the service industry for a long time and this was poor customer service. I was excited just to see the inside because I always pass this place and it seems so cool, but now I’ll never go

The food, drinks and service were outstanding! The menu offers a wide variety of choices. The ceviche was delicious, the chifrijo pizza was nothing like any pizza I’ve ever had and the lomo saltado was phenomenal. Ingredients were drag and cooked to perfection. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend trying it, you won’t be disappointed! Thank you Chifrijo for a great evening.

Selected the order online option - as delivery was promised from the flyer. They charged my card, gave me a delivery time etc. Again this is the “order online” option FROM THEIR WEBSITE. We were having a birthday party, food never comes, no call no email nothing. I called and they stated they do not deliver, and could not cancel the charges. I needed to “call the company” I asked what company- as it was their website. No answer. They never made the food as they “don’t deliver” but we could try Uber or DoorDash... even though the website or flyer doesn’t provide that information. Please avoid this very questionable business.

I was just there yesterday and I was extremely disappointed. I ordered a ceviche mixto and it was by far the worse ceviche I ever had. The squids were tiny and so were the shrimp. I can tell the sweet potato was a canned sweet potato...It had cinnamon flavor. I will never go there again.

Didnt even deliver the food. They charged me 44.64 and never called or emailed they wouldnt be delivering. They even gave me a eta lol. Dont waste your familys time or money.So I checked my account. You never refunded me like you said. I really would like you to refund my account like you said you did. Its 44.64 in case you forgot.

Delicious so glad I stopped by. The drinks were good to me as well. Definitely hoping for a happy hour with my friends here soon.

It shouldnt even be called a Grill the food is only available based on how the boss is feeling at the moment, they never follow their own set hours everyone there is more so focused on drinks versus food

Dont read the other comments if their from people who arent even Spanish and cant apprecuate spanish cuisine. The food is amazing, i had the lomo saltado AMAZING, took a bite of my sisters pasta which was mouth watering and then i ordered the traditional peruvian pasta with steak and it was JUGOZO (JUICY) wow i loved it and they had just opened. The drinks were amazing that i have to give props too. Try it you wont regret it !!!

Super disappointed I went to eat with my husband and when they gave us the bill they were charging us for a dish that we never ordered, the very formal lady at the bar did not remove it from the bill, our amount was $87 and the next day checking the bill we realized that They had charged us an extra $20 dollars, my husband called and made the claim and the person who answered said I will talk to the owner and call him back, he never called us back and they charged us the $20 regardless, apart from that the person who assisted us was the owner He put an extra $13 on the bill out of gratitude, I mean hello, very disappointing that this happens in a restaurant. Well, we will never set foot in that place again.

The food was super dry, they came to serve us after 15 minutes, then they took I dont know how long to bring the entree, the truth is they should improve the service, understand that people arrive hungry, the waitresses are very friendly but they should be faster, the truth is I wouldnt go back This place, the set up is very nice but the service is terrible
