Bills Bar is a place that’s been around forever but with the right managers and recent renovations they’ve got the place trendy, really eye catching and fun. There’s always a cool DJ turning up the crowd before and after the Red Sox games and the bartenders have great hospitality and are fast. Check out the fish and chips with a friend it’s a huge shareable plate.
I would give this 0 stars if I could. Literally worst bar and service ever. We have never felt more unsafe at a bar. My boyfriend was aggressively asked to leave for no reason and when he asked why was very soon after shoved across the bar until he fell to the ground. He left with his hands up cooperating. OUTSIDE the security guard continued to interrogate and literally punch my boyfriend multiple times in the head. We have since been to the ER and he has a concussion. Please let me know why after LEAVING LIKE HE WAS ASKED he was still aggressively assaulted. The cops were called and nothing came of it...because my boyfriend did not do anything to deserve this. Meanwhile all the other employees were harassing us outside that they were going to arrest him, all employees were actively trying to make the situation worse, which I would assume their job is to do the exact opposite and actually de-escalate bar fights. This man pictured below needs to be identified and stopped from assaulting customers.
I would give no stars if it let me. Absolute trash of a bar and racist! Never returning and advise no one to come to this place. My friend was randomly approached by a bouncer here who was extremely disrespectful and went on telling him he’s not “from here” and how he’s never seen him in this bar before. My friend was extremely calm, but the bouncer said “you can leave if you don’t like it”. 100% racism and was unwarranted. Extremely uncomfortable and not welcoming. Stay far away!!!!!
The band Hit Play is the reason this bar is great, service is good but lets face it we are not going to stay if the music sucks. Hit Play is the reason we stayed and spent money, such a good band walking distance of Fenway. Nice little Boston Gem, had a great time. Will be back, out of town from V.A.
Amazing food for a bar I had the steak and cheese and roasted brussel sprouts. Went for the comedy night, well worth the price. Show up 30 minutes early for good seats. You can eat during the show, but service to the tables can be slow during a sold out event, so its wise to get food early. Drinks are a decent price. Dont hesitate on getting tickets as day of the show it typically sells out
Illegal how many people they let in at once and then they yell at out and threaten to kick you out of the bar if you don’t move but there is no where to go because they are so over capacity it is sickening
Beware of the bouncers. Very unfriendly staff, would avoid if you are have another bar on the mind. Sad to see.
My sister and I chose to go to Bill’s after the concert in Boston last night and had quite the encounter with the supposed manager “Henry” (is what he said his name was). My sister and I walked into the door and was instantly yelled at and chased in the door by a gentleman smoking a cigarette. (Which we had no idea even worked at this establishment). He raised his voice at us and demanded an ID from the both of us, while waving his cigarette in our face. We both told him there was no issues providing identification but asked nicely for him to move the cigarette away from us which he did not at first. After asking him that, we both backed away from him in the doorway in disbelief that this type of behavior would be coming from a “manager”. I looked at him after he continued to demand IDs and get in our face and asked if he was intoxicated (which was very obvious he was). I began recording the rest of our encounter because of his poor behavior. After assuring him we could provide our IDs and confronting him about his behavior, he found out I was recording and refused to allow us in. (Guilty conscience much). After 20 minutes of going back and forth with this “manager” who was intoxicated, we walked out to go to a different place where he then followed us and told the security not to allow us in there either. Come to find out he had the authority to do so because he was the manager to that establishment as well. This type of behavior from a manager is very poor and I hope whoever goes to Bill’s, or other local spots, keeps an eye out for him. 🙂
Waited 20 minutes in line to get in. Got in, and walked as close to the dance floor as I could while I waited for my friends to get in. Hostess yelled at me to go in; apparently patiently waiting in the hallway for my friends was not okay with her. I Gently told her I was waiting for my friends. She went to the bouncer, he came back and was feisty with me. I truly wasn’t doing anything wrong; just waiting two minutes for my friends. All 20 of my friends and I decided to leave after this. I know it was saint patty’s day so staff was stressed. I have been in the service industry and know the stress, but I just needed 5 minutes max to wait for my friends. No reason to cause a scene. Not good customer service and quite frankly not good human to human care. Bouncer’s name was Wayne Miller.
Friendly staff and cool comedy show. 4 stars for super-uncomfortable seats for the comedy show, made it hard to want to stay.
Forgot my wallet inside after getting dinner and the door security (Lavelle - scraggly old crackhead that looks like a 50 year old JJ and his meatball sidekick) wouldn’t let me go back in to get it. He kept telling me that he didn’t care that I left my wallet inside and kept refusing to let me or another worker there check for it. It’s not like I was trying to sneak in. I just spent $65 at this place. I just wanted my wallet back!I’m reporting this company to the BBB for theft if I don’t get my wallet back by tomorrow morning (9/5/2023). Lavelle should be fired for his incompetence and blatant disrespect for patrons. Withholding personal belongings is a crime. And, in case anyone is wondering, I wasn’t drunk. I only had a turkey sandwich and a water while listening to music. That’s it. I bought food for me and my gf while we watched a live band.
Rudest service ever. We asked for the check. After 20 minutes of waiting and asking serveral people for the check…she continued to serve only males… we asked for the check again and the waitress “server 1” at main bar 2 around 4:45pm said “I heard you the first time” then continued to ignore us and walked away. After 30 mins we finally got our check, as we walked outside we complained to the bouncer who didn’t give us the time of day, and did not provide us a name to complain too. Overall terrible first experience. WILL NEVER GO BACK
Watched a comedy show at this place and had fun. it’s not so busy on weekdays when there isn’t a red sox game which is nice! Service was great and drinks too
The bouncer here is an absolute joke. He will be moving a stack of chairs and run the chairs into your stationary foot, and then have the nerve to grab you by the neck and throw you out of the bar. He will then proceed to yell at you outside the bar for HOURS and flick you off. Absolutely disgusting. Ill never be back to this subpar bar.
Great first time here despite being in Boston 30+ years. Dub Apocalypse killed it as always. Door staff nice, bar crew on point. Space is nice and room to sit AND dance! Will be back for sure
The comedy shows are awesome! They bring in a lot of talent. The food is pretty good, too. My only gripe is with the beer. Dont get me wrong, the selection is alright, and so is everything that comes in a can or a bottle. However, for whatever reason, the stuff they have on tap is always a bit watery and musky. Aside from that, this place is great, and I highly recommend that you check it out!
So the bouncers are super rude and one of them has complete anger management issues, with no reason the bouncer took away one of my friends drinks and just threw it on the ground, spilling it on other unrelated people. Then he kicked both of us out even though we were just talking and did not do anything wrong I hope this incident is investigated and the bouncers are more controlled because this was horrible and unpleasant the night was 17th of December this is the worst I was ever treated in my life by a bouncer even though we were paying customers. I usually don’t give bad reviews but I have never been treated that badly in a bar my whole life
Poorly managed place. We stayed at the hotel where this restaurant is. Went here twice for drinks. They were out of many beers/wines that we ordered. We also went down there for the breakfast twice as well. The manager/hostess was trying to do it all. She would abandon the hostess station for 15m at a time resulting in a very long line at the front. Instead she was bagging food in the back while other employees were standing around doing nothing.
Bar tender was attentive to peoples needs. Place was very busy after Aerosmith concert. Live band Hit Play was playing and very good. Will definitely be back some time.
My Brother n I were just in Boston for a 2day Trip 8/23-8/25. I cant express enough of our experience at this Bar. We met a beautiful young lady the beginning of our first day their.(I apologize we didnt get her name) but then we met KHARI my brother n I cant even to BEGIN to express the Kindness the Hospitality the attentiveness n the FUNNN we had while we were there..we loved it so much we had to go back the 2nd day n spend more time with Khari.Thank u Khari n Bills Bar
Bartender mistook me for someone else and didn’t believe I wasn’t there the night prior. Made me feel extremely uncomfortable being there the entire night. I do not wish this upon anyone going to any of these bars near fenway. I highly suggest going elsewhere where they don’t judge you based on appearance. Terrible place that thinks they’re a club but are far from it. Never go.
My experience wasnt as bad as the others. Just had a few beers and pregamed for the Red Sox. No issues and beer was cold. Bar was connected to the one next door, gave a decent change of scenery when you wanted to move.
The staff was amazing and this is the best place to get cheap drinks, even when the Sox are playing! 10/10 would recommend! I heard Bill Clinton drank here too!
Very bad. I didnt like the beer and the service was just terrible. Worst bar Ive been to in Boston
Loud and busy, not a great beer selection, service so-so but I did leave my credit card there by accident and they got it back to me. Good for a quick pop on Sox game days
I was extremely disappointed and disgusted with the alcohol they served. I had a few drinks and each time requested to have Smirnoff in it. The bartender informed me that they were out of it and was putting a no name with no label alcohol in the drink. When I asked what it was he simply replied vodka. The vodka they serve is cheap and poor quality. I felt bad during the night, threw up and woke up in the morning with a bad hangover.
Went here on a weeknight to watch some bands as I was staying nearby. Felt comfortable drinking as a lone woman. Great bartender.
Great music but 1 of the female bartenders was very rude and threw a straw at me when I asked for one after she didnt stir a cocktail after making it. All other staff was friendly and despite this, I had a great time!
Etiquette was very fine at this great palace of burgers I had a great time with my friends great time with friends come down to Bob’s Burgers definitely not scout.
Not bad recently. They now have live music and it is cleaner than it used to be. Much better than landsdowne next door. You can actually walk around.
Foreign ID not accepted. Biggest joke of the comedy night. You going to refund my T ticket to get here?
We attended a Red Sox sponsored brunch here before a game. The beer selection is average and the food was pretty good.
The comedy shows are actually funny, but the service and food can be lacking. Im all for a weeknight comedy show, but you dont want to come hungry.
Had a great night watching some stand-up comedy on a Friday night! Food was fantastic too.
Great comedy show, just what we were looking for! Get there a little early if you can to make sure you get good seats
Great spot to catch some pretty good up and coming standup comedians. Aside from that I cant speak much else to the bar itself. Its alright.
Bills Bar Sunday nites has always been an iconic place for Reggae nights.
Unpleasant staff but, one of the better bars on landsdowne. well priced drinks and beers. food is pretty good, and is priced right.
Went here for when they hosted the Boston Hamilton Sing A Long. Great bar, could have used more bar tenders to handle the crowd.
The comedy shows on Saturday is pretty good and the food is great with amazing vegan/ vegetarian options.
Rude waitress, no respect for customers.I will never go there again, and I will share it with all my friends
Live music was awesome, together with some drinks, we had a good night!
Worst Long Island, great live music, wings are a 2/5 . Over good experience
Had a great time. Comedy nights are affordable and really funny so do check it out.
Ton of fun with friends, some stuff happened... But was a great place to dance and drink.
Terrible service. Horrible wait staff. Gave us burgers almost raw. Do not recommend this place.
Im embarrassed to say how long Ive been a patron of Bills but its still a great spot with great staff.
Nice appetizers and the beer special made sn evening of comedy a nice chill with friends
Small bar in the Fenway area. Plenty of chairs and TVs for just relaxing or catching a game
I left covered in my own $7 beer because of a bar fight that broke out. You ruined my night Bill
Great bar..good place to hang out after the sox game
Tried to charge me a hefty cover when the bar was COMPLETELY empty. Served my beer in an old plastic cup.
Music is retro but atmosphere is very groovy and fun.
Fun place
DJ Spaz(io), strobe lights, and cheap tequila. Cant do much better for a creepy night out.
Funny and I did open mic night and the audience is great too
The comedy was good and the food was as well. Good entertainment.
A fun place to have a drink before a show at the house of blues.
Good service, good beer selection. Close to Fenway.
OK place, service in slow, beer wasnt cold cold. To dark.
Had fun at the comedy show!
Disappointing character.
Decent comedy, okay food, good location
Easy place to hang out before red Sox games
Friendly and fun! Staff was great
Perfect spot to visit after a Red Sox win!
Good food, the hone made chips and dip are really good
I enjoyed the music and drinks there
Great prices and entertainment. Bouncers are a little rough.
