I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find that the menu was varied and had some very creative drinks. I had the Tricky Nick. Which is apparently theyre most popular and I can see why! Very refreshing and packs a punch. Then I ordered the bacon, blue cheese, double-patty Burger. Man it was juicy and delicious, once again another surprise. This bar has been around for a little over 25 years and is queer owned. Everyone is welcome! So I suggest you check out this local neighborhood bar and enjoy some great drinks and food.

Early September Thursday at 6pm. The place is nearly full with an event in the backroom. The menu is all over the place with lots of fried foods combined with wraps and humus plates. The tots are perfect. Everyone here is really nice with no ego posturing like many bars. Yes it is considered a gay bar, if that bothers you please find a different place to go. This is a great neighborhood bar that anyone should enjoy drinking at. There is outdoor seating for sidewalk people viewing and the whole bathroom area is non labeled so help yourself to a stall. We would gladly go here again if our travels go that direction. Colorful cultural Portland bar.

This once great place is now run by queer women who hate anyone thats outside of their community. This use to be a cool place for gay men but the queers have driven us out. No problem! Theres better places to go! That once packed patio of theirs now has cobwebs on it. I give it til the end of 24 before they close shop.

On 01/19/24 I witnessed a form of discrimination at this establishment that really left a bad taste in my mouth. A person of color was clearly discriminated on in such a public way that it made me fear for their safety. Clearly this establishment needs some professionalism and deescalation training. Instead of pulling the person aside and explaining the why they were being asked to leave, they publicly humiliated him and kicked him out. It was a public character assasination at its finest. Treating a fellow gay member of the community in such a deplorable way was not what I expected. I will not be giving them anymore business.

This is not a safe space. It seems like the few regulars that frequent this place own it. The high school mentality and lack of leadership are very obvious. Lets not even talk about how discriminatory they are against Hispanics. Predominantly white queers with a token black or Hispanic queer frequent this place, and their racism bleeds through their pores. The Salem witch hunt is alive and well at Crush Bar PDX. This is a place where they give you poor customer service and make you aware that outsiders are not welcome. ITS ALL WHITE EVERYONE! 😉

I have been watching the quality of food and size of Servings decline over the last several months. Ex. The Idaho fries are $16 for a small serving. The size is a lot smaller, it had a small amount of cheese on it-only covered about half of the ser ing, some sour cream, and bacon bits. They went from real bacon to bacon bits. The entire serving probably cost less than $5 to make. It feels like getting screwed by rubbery bacon bits that got stuck in my teeth.

I’ve been to this bar numerous times and always have had an amazing experience. 1/26/23 however, I attended a paint and drink night and was harassed by the “manager” about the tip I had left in front of my guest. I would just like the staff and owner know/: #1: it was known to manager i was there for an event. #2 bartender/ manager was slow/ignored my orders for event, manager confronted me in-front of my guest about tip amount during private painting show. Extremely embarrassing after how much I had raved about how inclusive of a bar CRUSH is. No you do not get an exclusive tip when you ignore customers and head to the kitchen/ back area while trying to place a drink order during a private event. I feel extremely discriminated against and it will affect future attendance at Crush bar. It was the short “manager” with blonde hair. Her confrontation infront of my guest will affect my attendance at Crush Bar.

I am not much of a bar person but one of the meet ups that I belong had their white elephant gift exchange there. The back room is big enough for over 50 people or accommodate a large crowd. The staff is very friendly and the bar food is pretty good. I will have to say not much in the way of gluten free options except salad. My friend ordered fish and chips and she said it was spicy. So I guess it is pretty typical bar food. Crush is very popular for dancing and a night of fun and drinking. If you are out for a night on the town the is a good option for you.

The menu at Crush is affordable and delicious, drinks are great. The staff is friendly and committed to keeping Crush Bar a safe space. At one event a heckler was interrupting the performance and was kicked out after he refused to stop yelling. Around the corner from my first apartment in Portland, Crush has been my favorite bar for years. The environment is nice, the staff awesome, and the fare fantastic, but mostly its the vibe that keeps me coming back. Being bi, and not really syncing with a traditionally gay scene, Crush is a chill space for whatever flavor of human you enjoy. As a queer space, it has an openness that isnt present in most places, and I feel more at home three than any other spot in Portland.Whether its checking its myriad events or just unwinding after a long week, this place will make you feel like the weird is normal. I used to love going to Crush Bar. It was the only space I felt really welcome as a queer, non-binary person. This was because of the amazing staff, and had very little to do with the wealthy white owners. When the COVID-19 hit our community, instead of doing the right thing, the owners let all of their employees go and called the cops when they organized a sit in to discuss the concerns they have. I will never give them another dime of my money until they recognize the Crush Bar Workers Collective. Without those people, who made the place a safe and welcoming space, this is just another bar.

Crush is a friendly neighborhood gay-owned queer-ish cocktail bar that happens to serve amazing food and has a weird dance/performance space in the back. I completely ignore the back part, because the staff and majority of other patrons are so friendly its better to hang out in the front to meet people or just people watch. Ill admit that Ive been going here off and on for years now, almost since they opened, and its just a fun place to be. Everyone I know agrees this is a real life Cheers type of place. If youre ordering food, I recommend the mac & cheese (its baked), the nachos (theyre done flat on a platter instead of in a bowl, so toppings are on every chip), their salads (most of their dressings are made in-house), and just the other night they had steak and potatoes on special and it was perfectly done!

Went to Crush for the first time today for lunch with my coworkers and it was the best meal Ive had in this area! At first I was skeptical choosing a bar for lunch but I thought I would give it a go since there isnt much restaurant wise in the area. The bar tender mentioned it was their first day using their new menu since it had been recently revamped so I thought what the hell. I had the half of grilled salmon sandwich with a side of Caesar salad, and it was tasty. The dressing was perfect and they added a few lemon zest shavings on the salad which I have never had before on a caesar but it was brilliant. The salmon was cooked just the way I like it and the bread was a nicely toasted ciabatta.Service was good as well. The bartender was quick with a smile and after ordering I received my food in couple minutes.Price was average for the area. $10 for a whole sandwich or $5 for a half a sandwich (which is what I did), and adding a side salad was $2 or you could go with a side of fries for $1.Overall I will be back again and again.

I don’t drink and I asked for a mock tail semi-meekly because the request is usually met with an eye roll while they add some OJ to soda water back home in LA. Well, that wasn’t the case with Issa (hope I spelled that right). She was so kind and excited to make the best damn mock tail ever, and she may have succeeded. But it was more than just drinks. Issa is simply a walking ball of positive affirmation and kindness. If you want to find a great drink of any modality and an awesome vibe this is the place. Now all we need to do is bottle whatever it is that makes Issa so f-ing amazing and I can quit therapy. You all made my week.

Theres frequent weekly events in the back, like burlesque, drag, latin music dance night etc. The patio area is nice and usually is where people who smoke hang out. Inside has really interesting decorations like a bottle chandelier. The food is on the expensive side, but its pretty good hipster bar food. The menu is extensive with breakfast on weekends as brunch. I really like their specials and desserts that they switch around. It gets really busy on the weekends and end of the week so Id recommend going monday-wednesday for a quieter/less crowded experience if youre into bars but not the bar scene. Go on the busy days for the bar scene. Drinks tend to be on the stronger side.

Everybody has their favorite spots... this one is mine. A pseudo-gay spot (very mixed crowd where everyone is welcome), Crush will eternally hold a special place in my heart. Why? Let me count the reasons:1. Staff - everyone is friendly, fun, and delivers wonderful service2. Food - not just typical bar food, they switch the menu (at least the specials) frequently, deliver delicious food with good presentation and have great happy hour (4-7; till midnight on Tuesdays)3. Drinks - always some unique cocktails with ever-changing specials (try the cheap date, with freshly shaved ginger)4. Outdoor Seating - bring on the sunshine and watch SE Portland residents strut by5. Special Events - from burlesque shows, comedy troupes, outdoor block parties to one of the official spots for the Naked Bike Ride after party, theres always something fun happening here. Also, a projector for occasional viewing parties (where I watched the most recent presidential election)6. Layout/Design - Split into two adjoining spaces, the bar side has a good amount of table and bar seating; the event space next door has comfy couches and cocktail tables, facing a newly (bigger) redesigned stage. Theres some fun artwork around. I also appreciate the gender neutral bathrooms.

Appropriately dubbed the best bar in town. There are few places that can stand up to Crush Bar in the multitude of ways that they (excuse me) crush the bar game. They had me at the logo.... Crush, though termed a gay bar by some, is more accurately an all-inclusive bar. Be respectful of your fellow patrons and the barstaff, and thats what most places should be. But Crush executes what they present with surprising tact and grace. Everyone who works at Crush has always been very welcoming, professional and appreciative of my patronage. The food is good, for being at a bar. The drinks are reasonably priced. The shows in the backroom are diverse and fun and open to all..... Rupauls Drag Race showings and open-mic drag performances, as well as some really edgy and avant garde burlesque performances. But I really cannot stress enough how grateful I am for the cultural magic that Crush performs on a daily basis. Its easy to make assumptions about someone based on appearance. Im a man, married to a woman, and we enjoy going on dates with each other. The easy assumption is to place a label upon us of straight couple. My immense appreciation for Crush and the folks who run the place is that I dont feel that automatic label placed upon my partner and I when we walk in the place. The complexity of ones sexual identification and preferences are private (or should be, if desired) and I love Crush Bar because they dont assume anything. Equal rights and service to all, including gender neutral toilet stalls.Thank you for being the best, yall!!

I came for this just for the drink and draw “dr.sletchy” event. While this was generally a lack-luster-don’t-come-to-event, I’m going to look at this place as just a bar separate from the event (if you are looking for illustration practice, go anywhere else)I’m an average looking white guy, and all I can say is be ready to wait to be served after the usuals. A line? Don’t worry about it. The usuals will glom on from any direction and get served- on a calm Sunday night.Scan your card and give it back to you? Well that’s the rule at the bar but don’t worry bae tenders will forget this. It will be solved after you get another drink, but it speaks to the skill level and preferences here of the bartenders- if you are a local you are gold and if you aren’t, well, go somewhere else.So come here if you want to weather the storm to be a usual, in their seemingly “be a gender neutral goth” way, or just walk a block to any other bar- you will get timely service and reasonable prices elsewhere.Hilarious side note- female bar tender couldn’t deal with me ordering a vodka neat. She wanted to serve it in a short martini glass with ice. Like seriously. Not a bar to drink at.

Great community bar with frequent shows, activities and dances. Drink prices are reasonable with a friendly staff. I have enjoyed myself each time I visited.

Great hangout spot for the queer community. They have great dishes with many vegan options. They serve some good drinks too. Watch for their events.

The bar was comfy n clean n pleasant. However. I ordered 2 negronis and was charged $26. Thats ridiculous. I was honestly saddened by it. Dont think Ill be coming back.

Friendly staff & patrons. Definitely not a strictly gay bar. More like a naked old bearded dude dancing next to someones drunk secretary. An eclectic mix.

The music and prices are decent, but the atmosphere leaves a little to be desired. A little too divey for my taste. However, if you want a drink and your in the area it is a decent place to go.

Shameful that a bar I used to love could be so cruel and harmful to their workers and to the community. In normal times this would be a travesty, but during a pandemic it is outright evil. Crush Bar Workers Collective is what made Crush great!

While I appreciate crush having a space with a stage, the space was relatively small and they just made it smaller, almost too the point of unusable. Staff are not always the friendliest, and at times have been down right rude.

Always friendly service and great prices at crush the food is excellent and great outdoor seating along the sidewalks. Fun spot for summer and to get together with friends. That entertainment and events often check out their website or Facebook page because theyre always updating it.

I just found out that my tab has been kept open even though I explicitly told the barkeep to close my tab as I am only purchasing 1 beer and 1 pork slider. Well I was charged 13.25 extra so the tab was kept open and I was charged for somebody elses bill. I am a below poverty retiree and only went to Crush for DR Sketchy on Sunday 10/5.The food was okay because there was too much Mustard on the slider. Will I go again to DR Sketchy? Probably yes but I will have cash on me since I do not trust Crush Bar not to close the tab when it is requested. If you go to that bar you better keep all your receipts and check your bank account more than likley you will find the same thing that happened to me.

Dont go to the drag show. My ears are bleeding..not from the (super horrible) acts, but the audio situation. Please bring ear plugs to save your ears for better events. Drag queeens or women who want to be men pretending to be men women is not entertaining. #angryinoregon

“Hexxuss(sp?)” could use a real attitude adjustment and a trading from the health department. I don’t know when it became ok to eat food and immediately serve anything without washing your hands( eating skittles and picking it out of your teeth and immediately serving a drink) but along side the attitude, and constant failure to hear the customers over the loud sounds I guess he’s an ok(f- bartender).
