This used to be a fun club but now its just full of straight people. Dont get me wrong. I have lots of straight friends but sometimes I want to go out and be around people like me. I will not be going back to this place. The drag show is the worst Ive ever seen. It not even a show. Just a bunch of queens flailing and squawking on a dance floor between songs. Not worth the entrance fee. There are other way better gay clubs to spend my money at.
Ive been here twice now. Once in the back near the dance area and once in the more chill/seated area.Recently I visited with a large group and had a good time. We ordered drinks, which were poured well (A+ for having pickle backs!) and then also got food. The chicken strips, fries and taquitos were PERFECT bar food. No frills, just good ol late night food. There was a drag show happening in the back which a few of my friends watched and enjoyed.I will say I wasnt a huge fan of the bathroom. Kind of dirty and just.. needs updating. Also is it a thing for this bar to not have locks on their bathroom doors? I am a member of the LGBTQ community but still want to feel safe when peeing.. a lock wouldve been nice!Id definitely come back. The bartender was also very sweet, had a nice dry humor.
My boyfriend (the DD of the group) got turned away and racially profiled. The bouncer said he was drunk but he didnt drink at all. Our whole group (all white btw) was let in except him. The security said that the person that made the call was black without us making the claim that my bf was mixed. Honestly its an easy scapegoat and from previous reviews, this place is very racist. They put up rainbow flags and claim theyre accepting yet, where is the support for their BIPOC patrons?
Not terribly impressed when you hold a block party that says it is both CC’s and the block, but you don’t connect they two, and then you have cash only for the block part (join the 21st century). You should have one entrance that connects. Also, when a girl is suffering from being over served and heat exhaustion and is puking in the street, but you won’t let us bring her water, and you also won’t bring it yourself, then your security is as bad as the terrible PPD.
My girlfriend was racially profiled by the bouncer here several weeks back. We walked up with a group and the bouncer loudly singled out my girlfriend as not being allowed in (my partner is Taiwanese and speaks with an accent, not drunk). It was embarrassing for her and the group as the bouncer was so loud it was attracting the attention of other people standing outside. Ive had great experiences at CC Slaughters in the past but I will never attend again after this exchange.
Was visiting from out of town, enjoyed the employees and other customers, and the events were very entertaining. Karaoke was great. The host can sing very well will be looking to return in the future.
We got to the bar at 1:30am, tried to open the door and were met by security. He said they were closed early tonight, even with patrons inside. Why would you have posted hours and not honor them to your patrons. Extremely disappointed with y’all. I brought my friends that are visiting from out of town. If you are going to have posted hours, honor them. Don’t deny patron’s when you want to.
Bad experience with a bar tender of this location yesterday I went to the cherry blossom after we decided to get some food we look for few locations and I fund this place I took a seat outside the cover area with my friends and puppie we were wonder I will not be able to come in but they did so a bar tender came out and say to us ypu need to move away right away is for costumers only treatment me like garbage so please be careful with who you approach and be nicely You work for a public service most be nice and treat all equal. So thats why I dont come to Portland anymore is not save and people working at this place not work it.
Such a fun and welcoming space! I’ve never had a bad night at CCs!
CCs is USUALLY a safe place for my queer friends but we were recently not allowed entrance just because our friend seemed too drunk. The staff did not want to hear us out and were very exclusive despite wanting to talk about it. I understand wanting to protect people that seem too intoxicated but my friend was NOT more intoxicated than anyone else in the line... I will not recommend CCs until this issue is handled...
The bartenders are always so nice and sweet and make the drinks perfect every time.
Ive had pretty consistently unpleasant experiences with the bouncer who usually wears a black cap with a short bill for years now. They tend to speak to patrons in a condescending and impatient manner no matter how respectful or polite you try to be. When they had outdoor seating and a friend of mine walked up to my table the same bouncer came up to chastise him for not presenting his ID before he even ordered a drink or tried to go inside.CCs is an important space and I respect the security trying to maintain a safe atmosphere. However, my personal experience and the many reviews here that are critical of the security team seem to indicate a pattern. It always throws off the vibe of the night and makes me feel like Ive been sent to the principals office. The bouncer with the black cap I mentioned could just bring down the intensity a little bit and still do an excellent job of keeping the bar safe.
I’ve been sober for 3 years and tonight I was denied entry by the bouncer with reddish hair. I was very hurt by this experience as I was looking forward to celebrating with my fellow queers during pride month. She had no explanation for my denial of entry other than my exit from my uber. It seemed very off. I am very put off and wish to see better.
I love ccs and being gay it’s a fun place to go, however the new bouncer (reddish pink hair with flower crown) is extremely rude. Got denied entry AGAIN with a friend when she’s been sober for years was really gross. Didn’t give us a reason and when she said she’d talk to management, she just said we were too drunk. super weird and seriously off putting, do better.
We came for a friends birthday and honestly we were having a great time until the bar tender told us to keep it down. I would have understood if my friend was yelling frequently ( she whoooood once) and we were enjoying our friends birthday. The environment was great till then. But the fact the manager did come talk to me and i was able to express how I felt and was apologetic was very nice. Although we won’t be coming back sometime. I appreciated being heard. We hope you don’t experience the same and just have fun and dance the night away!!
Absolutely amazing night! Great performances, great people, and great atmosphere! Jeremy the bartender was so kind and helpful, Bolivia was hilarious and the band The Business was fantastic! Would definitely go back again!!
I’m rewriting my review to phrase my story a little better!last night me and my two friends were denied access on the account of being too intoxicated. none of us were drunk, in fact the person who specifically was denied was stone cold sober. we tried to reason with the security guard but she proceeded to lie to and gaslight us. the conversation definitely escalated when she made comments about my appearance and told me my eyebrows look aggressive and i looked like i was going to yell at her. making comments about someone’s appearance especially in a so called “safe space” for queer people was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. i read some of the other reviews and i would like to point out that the one who was specifically told she isn’t allowed in is black. the security guard with the reddish/pink hair was the main one who we had issues with but the entire security team backed her up. i will not be coming back and i’m going to be sure to let other people know that this is not a safe space for bipoc and the lgbtq+ community. Do better!!
I love this place. The bartenders are amazing, especially Jeremy. My one quibble is I remember when this used to be a dance club whereas now the drag shows take over the floor for several hours every night. I got nothing against them, but Darcelles is right around the corner so why do they have to take over CCs too? I am forced to go elsewhere if I want to dance. Too bad I would much rather go to CCs.
Probably houses/employs one of THE worst DJs I’ve ever heard, longest transitions ever with the most outdated song choice. You can barely hear the songs that play over the most generic edm beat. Don’t waste your money.
Very fun! I go almost every weekend. Its the only club in Portland so far that feels like a club. Drinks arent too badly priced and the Drag shows are always fun. One thing that needs to be improved is their music. Its all EDM style so all you can really do is bop your head to the beat. None of the music is lyrical and if it is its so remixed that you cant sing along or predict how to dance to it. They need to start playing more lyrical and queer classics. I dont think the DJ here is reading the crowd very well or just doesnt know their target audience. My friend groups and I all agree on needing music improvement. Other than that the facilities are kept fairly clean and the employees are very nice. Great place to be yourself and embrace the queer community.
The place is not bad but the people who is in charge is awful.I was there talking peaceful with some of MY friends and they decided (with no reason) I was too drunk,so 3 of them came to me to take me out of the place. I had no issue with anyone, I didnt throw up, I didnt disturb anyone, I was just talking nicely with my friends outside. They were not capable to say any reason to do that apart from saying that my eyes look tired, and I have dilated pupils (Ive been working during all they long,so of course they look like that!). Ill never come back again.
Friend got denied re-entry after a single drink for being too drunk.
It’s a fun place that me & my friends enjoy going together especially during shows. However the drinks aren’t that strong here and quite expensive for what they are. Most cocktail drinks are filled with lots of ice. Fun place though.
Disappointed that this bar owner harassed my mutual aid group to move along when we spent five minutes on the public sidewalk outside handing out snacks, water, and supplies to community members. We werent even in front of an entrance. They told us an event was happening (there was literally nobody outside the bar) and were rude and overbearing when I said wed be gone in a few minutes. which we were. Surprised that a queer space is so intolerant and hostile. Be better members of your community please!
I’ve been in Portland, visiting with family for the first time and was so excited to hit this bar as it’s lgbtq+ friendly and the securities all took one look at our group and didn’t let us in because they said we looked “drunk” and we were a risk to them? When literally all we did in line was laugh? But they literally let in the drunk WHITE people behind us in no problem! I honestly just feel like this place is racist and not POC friendly! I’ve been all across the country to different gay bars and have never had this kind of treatment. I really expected more from this place
Best gay themed straight bar Ive ever been to! Great for bachelorette parties and even better if you dont want to be around gay people!
Used to be cool but lately theyve had some whack security. This place is supposed to be LGBT friendly, and friendly to anyone really. Weve been here periodically for years. But tonight they turned me and my GF and her friend away. Said we were drunk and we werent, I have a limp from a permanently damaged left leg, forgive me for swaying a little when I walk. I think the door guard was hating because I pass as male and appear hetero with my girlfriend, so also forgive me for being trans but passing. I dont know what we did wrong to get judged negatively by the very judgemental and lame person at the door tonight, but good luck if youre trying to run an LGBT club that is discriminatory and bigoted.Edit after reading other reviews: I didnt even mention that me and my crew are mixed race with black and Latin, and looks like other crews turned away for being allegedly drunk were also POC. WOW! The data shows bouncers are straight up racist here.
This is / was our go-to nightclub every time we are in Port;and. Safe atmosphere, great staff, solid drinks and food, great drink specials, awesome sound system and DJs. They host an awesome drag queen variety show... Bolivia is amazing!!! Special events can get a little crowded, but never too crazy. Security does a really good job. Pretty chill place. The neighbourhood around the club is starting to get a little more sketchy, so lock your vehicles and make sure property is hidden away. Fun spot to hang out with friends and dance.
I love this place but 2 of the bouncers have been extremely rude multiple times when me and my friends go there. The girl with pinkish red hair and the big bald guy with the beard are unwelcoming and have said inappropriate comments…
I’ve been to a lot of LGBTQ+ spaces across the country, and this one had some of the worst music. My whole group was disappointed with the lack of LGBTQ+/BIPOC-led music & for the majority of the night it felt like the same generic YouTube tutorial background pop-“techno” music. The drinks were priced well, and we enjoyed that it felt like a welcoming and inclusive crowd, but overall were underwhelmed with the experience.
Not what it used to be. This place feels like a straight club that had a few lost drag queens in it. The Go-go dancers and light dancers put in almost no effort to make the club seem more fun, and really only seemed to care when their friends came to talk to them. Drinks were over priced for Portland as well. Overall this place needs to rethink what they want to be and make a decision because this wasn’t it.
This bar is unsafe and the staff does not care about its patrons. My friend was assaulted by one of their staff outside the bar. The person not only was verbally attacking my friend, but when my friend clapped back the staff smacked him in the head with their cowboy hat and ran off. Since this happened, the door person wouldn’t let us back in because there was an “altercation” that was no fault of ours. CCS took no responsibility for their staff physically assaulting my friend. We asked them to please review the video footage and they refused. They even came up with a whole story about how my friend has had previous altercations here with this staff member. My friend is from New York. He had never been to this bar. (I hadn’t been in at least 4+ years) After no cover refund and being treated the way we were by the bald headed bearded “manager” I can’t say I can ever recommend CCS as it is not safe for anybody and they refused to take proper action and instead punished us instead of the worker who instigated the entire situation.
Great nightclub! cheap drinks and friendly staff. We went after a concert on a weekday and it was fun. I didnt like that they stop the music and got the lights on at 1am without notice. But besides that, lots of fun!
Horrible experience. I asked the bartender if he can make my drink strong and he immediately said, I can go to a different bartender because he makes all his drinks the same. Then later I asked how much is an adios drink compare to a vodka/pineapple juice and he told me he doesn’t have time to tell me how much because he is busy which I understand even though he gave me an attitude. My husband then apologized if he felt offended to what I said earlier (to make my drink stronger) but he was already offended to what I said that he wasn’t taking an apology so he called security guard to have us kicked out. I have been to plenty of bars in Las Vegas and I never have a problem telling the bartenders to make my drinks stronger. Overall we apologized, yet he still wanted us out. We do not recommend this place at all. We were able to get the cover charge back, but it was still a bad experience. If you work in customer service, you should not take anything anyone says personal. We will never come back to this place and we will definitely spread the word around to friends and family back in Las Vegas.
Racist bouncers. This man kicked me out for throwing my pepper spray in the crate that they were keeping them in outside of the door. Apparently I was too aggressive and endangering this man that is more than double my size. A white girl directly in front of me in line was let in with a hot pink pepper spray. It is Juneteenth and my friend and I were the only Black people in sight. I guess not everyone is welcome to celebrate pride here... I will not be returning.
Absolutely delightful, went there last night to start off my weekend. Had a delicious chocolate cream drink, and was able to dance and interact with Wonderful people. Definitely going more often
This is a great place to go to just to dance and have fun with youre friends. The drinks are nice and strong and reasonably priced. There is no cover, so thats a big plus and the people are super friendly. The dance floor does get a little crowded, but just work youre way in and theyre make room!
Trendy LGBTQ+ club with a wide variety of dancers, bartenders, and patrons. Good drinks, okay price. The dancers rotated pretty regularly and the show was fun. Lots of patrons dancing.Friendly environment. The bartender doesnt make drinks for people if theyre not at the bar, which is great for preventing someone from screwing with your screwdriver! Clever trick to keep people safe. The announcer was a drag queen with the sexiest high heels I saw all night!Downside is that there arent toilets in the restroom designsted for men and women who like to stand. So if your gender identified with that bathroom, and you *needed* to sit, you had to use the other restroom. Not a huge deal, just a point of confusion.Otherwise great place!
One of my favorite Queer bars in Portland! The Thursday show is INCREDIBLE! Diva Dott is one of the most talented and kindest drag performers, so is Bolivia Charmichels! Best Reba impersonater I’ve ever seen
By far one of the best LGBT+ bars in Portland! The weekly specials and drag nights always keep me coming back and bringing friends, and all of the bartenders are both knowledgeable and extremely friendly. If nothing else, come and support the amazing drag queens that do shows here, everyone makes it into such a kind, fun, and safe atmosphere!
Im disappointed in CCs for numerous reasons and havent been back. I loved this place, but lately just open my eyes. Its not poc friendly imo, there was a Poppin Black hip hop show in which it was PACKED and they didnt want to have it again. There is never any other music, besides the same edm ,house music. Never hip-hop. Not to mention I have seen and heard from numerous people how ccs is allowing someone with multiple sexual assault allegation(with proof) to make light of a situation by having a show called cancelled queens. True or not, that alone is in serious bad taste. try not to perform here either, if you arent friendly with some producers, a few will stop you from making money over personal beef that has nothing to do with them. Its gross and I havent been there in months. Im tired of this fake woke, take care of each other bs. I physically cant bring myself to go Im so uncomfortable about it.
Idk about this place.. door guy was rude and thought my new Oregon ID wasn’t real. At least know what your own state ID looks and feels like?! As someone who is well over 21 and isn’t originally from the US this was really weird and uncomfortable. Security is overly eager
Possibly the best nightclub in Portland. They have great happy hour specials. They are not stingy on alcohol. Music varies by days and can include drag shows. They have great dancers on weekends. The rainbow room offers food to help sober you up. Do not miss coming here when visiting PDX.
Only stopped in here for about 10 minutes on a bar hop night, but the atmosphere seems good and my limited exposure to the staff was all pleasant. Very clean bathrooms. As others mentioned it was far too loud for conversation which is why we left so quickly. If youre just there for the view then this wouldnt be a problem.
As others have said, the staff can be very unprofessional for no reason and may refuse to serve you, even after only a single drink!Ive never had such a poor experience in a bar, and maybe they just like to kick anyone out that doesnt fit their view of what gay should look like. There are many more open minded places that will serve you with a smile instead of cutting off and kicking out anyone they dislike.
My wife and I went out for Pride weekend and expected to have a great time. When we had to leave and come back, we were met with an extremely long line. We had already paid cover but were told to wait in the line to get back in. Security came out to tell us that the club was at capacity, so we had two choices: wait in line and pay regular cover of $10, or skip the line to go in the side entrance for double cover $20. I have one question. How can a club be at capacity but allow ANY and ALL people who will pay double the price? We decided to wait in the line and once we got in, the music was barely danceable and it was overall just an OK experience. We were extremely disappointed and will never be going back to CCs.
Love going here for their event nights. When it is busy, it is way too small and everybody is squished together. When it is slow it is VERY slow. Regardless, always a stop when we go out downtown.
I love this place. Trashy fun. The music is loud and Madonna! I think that the bartenders are hot and the drinks are good! The people that go there changes all the time and you have some locals that are always there! Boliva is my favorite drag queen. She s so fun!
My fiancé and I go here every weekend. Drinks are always great, bartenders are extremely attentive. DJ is pretty good. Great safe place for the lgbt community 🏳️🌈 if I could rate it more stars I would. Pre pump Friday’s are my favorite. The queens have been extremely inviting and take the time out of their night to talk to you personally. Go here if you’re looking for an amazing night.
Three stars for this gay bar that doesnt have a dance floor. They instead have a dance floor which is just a continuation of the bathroom if you ask me without any tables. Its a sorry state. The lines at the bar always take five minutes too long and the floor is sticky. If this place was in a bigger better gay city Im not sure itd still be around. I also think one side (The Rainbow Room) is too bright while the other side is too dark. Great place to dance when youre already drunk at 1am.
My friends and I are visiting from Wisconsin, and we tried to go to this bar with two valid state-issued IDs and a valid US passport. We were turned away because they were uncomfortable with our IDs. They stated that they didnt seem to be made of the right material. I reiterate, these were valid IDs. We asked to speak to the manager that instructed the bouncer to turn us away, and were told he was too busy to deal with us. Further, theyre a host bar for an international event, so they should have been prepared to identify valid identification from the states participating in the event which they sponsored. Severely disappointed in this bar and the way they handled this situation.
I was making out with a boy and then got targeted by the security and bar staff and kicked out. Perhaps they had me confused with someone else but obviously a very uncomfortable experience.
Dear management,I traveled to Portland from Seattle to enjoy a few days of vacation with my friend. On Wednesday night (7/11/18), both of your bouncers have denied my access to the bar on the basis of my ID was “fake.” My friend got in just fine. Instead of telling me why, the male bouncer insisted that my ID was fake and would not allow my entrance. For the entire stay in Portland, I went to Stag, Silverado, and Scandal without any issues. I’ve used this same ID before in February 2018 with another friend at your establishment with no issues. I went to a policeman nearby to verify that everything is fine with my ID. He checked the national database and indeed everything was fine. The cop even went to CC and notified the bouncers regarding this on my behalf. When I came back, instead of apologizing and treating me with respect, he turned me away with the same excuse. So I guess even the police is wrong and cannot be trusted?! First time, he denied my entrance because he can’t do his job and can’t tell a fake ID from a real one. Second time, he denied my entrance because I had the cop came to verify that my ID is real and I guess that was too much for his ego to handle. No apology. Nothing. I called and spoke to someone over the phone, I was told to have fun somewhere else. Is this how you treat a customer? So much for inclusion and acceptance. Being a gay asian man and told you cannot enter a safe space in the gay community because of this and that is a horrible feeling. So yes, I will take my money elsewhere that is more accepting with better service.
This club was the cleanest night venue I have ever been too I’m LITTERALLY here rn and the bathrooms are so clean had to post. The floors and counters are spotless and I love it and the venue is well thought out space wise and the vibes are good but most of all sooo amassing how clean it is.Black out night is the besttttt I hope they come back!!!!!!!
Come here if you just wanna dance! Good atmosphere with a lounge area on one area and a dancefloor environment on the other. Bar lines get really busy so get your liquid courage early on. Youll hear Katy, Britney, Gaga, Katy, Rhianna, and then repeat all night but if youre into Top 40s this is the place to be.
Seemed like a fun bar, has a nice dance floor and lounge area. I am giving it 1 star because the bar tender, intentionally or unintentionally, tried to steal my debit card. I asked to cash out and he proceeded to tell me he didnt have my card, and that I had opened a tab at the other bar. I knew I hadnt, so after 5 minutes of me telling him he had my card, he eventually said let me check something, went to the register 5 feet to his side, picked up my card and said oh here it is. Bullsh*t if you ask me, and I had only had 2 beers. Needless to say I dont trust the bartenders, and wont be coming back.
Rudest service, bartender swore at me when I politely said my drink tasted like gasoline and had security kick me out. I was stone cold sober so its not like I was acting a fool. I waited way too long for service, maybe because I was the only woman in the bar. Thats the last time I bring anyone there or spend another dime. I emailed all 3 contact managers on their website and no one has yet to make it right.
If I could give this place a negative 1000 stars I would yesterday a man threw boiling hot bleech water on 8 homeless ppl without warning I witnessed this happen I am unsure if he is an employee or the owner but either way any business that is allowing this to happen to ppl I would never be okay with going too.
Decent martini - the rainbow room was chill and good drinks. Staff was beyond rude and I’ve travelled the world and been a lot of clubs. At one point even had security smack my phone as i tried to take a pic and share with a friend.
As a straight guy, this is by far the best dancing in town. Uninhibited doesn’t begin to describe it. Go for gay gogo night, the music is a half beat up tempo from anything else in Portland and the DJs aren’t afraid of crowd pleasing. Drinks are expensive and the beautiful people can be intimidating, but if you don’t care and just want to dance, there is no place better. To other straight guys, don’t ruin it or make a fool out of yourself by hitting on women here, just go dance. Spent my birthday there this year couldn’t have had a better time.
Love this place. The drinks are reasonable, the people are friendly, and I love the atmosphere. The only thing I dont like are the go go dancers. If I wanted to see that, of go to a strip club. Other than that, its great.
We went on Wednesday, game night. Fun if you dont come alone. Place stops serving alcohol @2330. FYI
So last night was my 21st birthday and me and my boyfriend came there at about 10. There were 2 others in the bar. We can in and showed the one bartender our IDs and since it was my 21st the ID expired that day. He told me it was fine because it ment that it was the last day i could use it. We went and sat down and about 2 minutes later the guy comes back and says since your ID expires today you actually cant be here sorry but happy birthday. I just wanna say that we went to 3 other bars and no one gave us any grief. It was my birthday for Petes sake. Ill never go there again.
I would give this bar zero stars if I could. First of all a bouncer came up to me and told me I could not have anything else to drink after one beer. I asked why and he said that he was just following the bartenders orders. I seriously did not understand, he probably mistook me for someone else, still I did not deserve to be treated like a criminal. I called the business to get a hold of the manager and of course they were not available. I love portland but this place treated me horribly. I know I wont be spending money here again.
It shocks me when people take advantage of their position in a community-gathering venue for their personal gain or vindication, but it seems like its the thing in Portland. I think your security staff has too much power. On June 17th, Sunday, which is a pride weekend, my friend K and I went to CC Slaughters after two glasses of wine at a friends place. We are both good regulars at your venue, and we spend a lot of money and tip generously every time. By the time we got there ,the line to get inside the bar was already long enough to reach the street corner. We got in the line and chatted with each other and people around us while waiting.By the time we got to the bouncer, K was denied entrance. K asked them why, they simply replied I was told by my boss that you are a drunk mess in our bar, K proceeded to ask How come? We literally just arrived. the bouncer responded with obvious annoyance and impatience I was told by my boss and you need to leave now.Weve literally queued up for almost 20 mins and they are kicking us out for no reason at this point, so K asked May I speak to the manager then? What happened next was totally unnecessary and rude, the bouncer literally grabbed K and tossed her away without letting her even finish her sentence. We both felt K got assaulted and disrespected, K called the police for assault. Thirty minutes later, two police officers arrived. Before we even get a chance to speak, the taller officer, obviously irritated, straight up asked What do you want us to do? I said to him my friend got assaulted by the bouncer the officer basically tried to leave by asking us if we were drunk and telling us the bouncers have all the rights to touch customers.Which is a complete lie! According to my legal advisor, bouncers are not entitled to engage in the use of force unless they are first threatened with physical harm.Twenty minutes later they came back from investigating. The police said weve looked at the footage, and that doesnt look like assault to me, and they mistook your friend for some other girls inside, theres nothing we can do. I said ok then, can you make a police report? He acted so annoyed and his partner finally started to make the report and gave us a card with numbers on it.A week later, which was last night, June 22nd, My boyfriend J, my friend K, and I went out to CC Slaughters again. At first we got in (the security that assaulted K and the security that lied about the fact that K was a drunken mess werent there at the time), we got one drink at the bar and then K had to leave to meet some other friend. J and I went to Silverados for another drink. By the time we walked back to CCs, we were denied entrance, not because they think we were drunk or anything. The security guard that mistook K for some other girl came to me and said You cant enter this venue again because your friend called police on us.I understand that a private venue has all the rights to deny entrance to anyone. But theres only a couple of gay venues in downtown Portland, and the security guards know that its where the community hangs out. By barring someone out of a venue like that is like barring people from a huge part of the community. And for petty reasons like that? First you are rude, then you lie, and then you deny entrance to us because you are mad? They are literally using their power at their job to block people from a big part of gay night culture and life in Portland. This is absolutely outrageous.Im so disgusted by this whole atrocity.
Great vibe, friendly bar tenders, good pours and great music. Cool place to chill with a small group, nice outside area and dance floor is good size. It is a welcoming and comfortable spot, for sure.
On May 1st someone leaving this location was attacked at the entrance and was last heard to be running for his life. Two weeks later they recovered this body in the river. As someone familiar with old Town, the rate of stabbings there are sky rocketing and frankly is now a very unsafe area at night. Hate to say it but this location should be avoided if you care about the safety of those with you.
Was lectured by the staff in a completely empty bar about our Australian IDs. We were told our IDs we’re not valid and wouldn’t be accepted anywhere. We are three weeks into our USA trip and have had no issues with our IDs anywhere ever. Rude staff. Take your business elsewhere.
The drag show on Friday night is fab. The entertainers genuinely enjoy what they’re doing, you can tel. The staff can come off clique-ish. The dance music after the Friday night drag show had a good variety and fun vibe.
The Halloween decorations here were top notch! Had a great time here on my birthday. Staffs are always lovely and friendly. Great place to have a good time and I always feel safe here. :)
Will never go back. After paying $20 a piece to get in, I ordered 1 drink and a shot and was interrogated about how much I had already had to drink. After explaining that this was my 1st drink of the night, I was granted permission to have an alcoholic beverage....in a bar. Thank you for your generosity! We then proceeded to mingle a bit and made our way to the 2nd bar near the dance floor. Apparently, the lil fella behind the bar was overwhelmed with his job that he was being paid to be there for because as we were waiting for a drink, I was laughing at my friend who was standing beside me and mildly hit my hand on the bar because I was laughing hysterically. The fragile bartender took it as a sign of aggression or something even though I wasnt even looking at him and said he wouldnt serve us. He let me know that we were also being kicked out as well lol. I explained over and over what happened but it didnt matter. He got his overly sensitive feelings hurt and had us escorted out. We had time to go to 1 bar when we arrived downtown and got harassed and kicked out. AFTER paying a Las Vegas priced cover charge. I will make sure that everyone I know never spends a penny at this overrated joke of an establishment.
If I could give this place no stars, I would. My wife and I went in after a show at Darcelle and had some drinks there (2 drinks). Then we went next door to this place. Then they wouldnt serve us more drinks bc the security team thought we were drunk and refused to serve us. Really? All good. We will take our business elsewhere.
The bathrooms are strange when the single stall restroom is out of service. Great way to automatically out yourself as trans regardless if you want to. Cool bar otherwise but bathroom situation sucks in my personal opinion
Without a doubt, CC Slaughters is the best nightclub in Portland. Everyone I have brought here leaves at the end of the night of the same opinion. I’ll be visiting again soon, God willing!
This was the second time I have been here. The first time I was with my groups, Oregon Bears. I live in Boise or I would visit more often. The first time it was a lot of fun... lots of bears and their admirers. There are two parts to the club-- a dance club and one side is more of a lounge. The walkway between has Oregon Lottery. Overall, Ive had fun and I ran into someone I knew from my past, many miles from home. I step out out my cab and bam she was there!
I love that CCs has no cover! The bartenders are friendly, and make great, cheap drinks. The patrons are usually friendly, and the dance floor is so fun! Its a great time on a Friday or Saturday.
Was a great place to be, however a variety of music is/would have made it better. Dont get me wrong a little bit of tech is fine but 5 solid hours of it no thank you. Will consider going back, but music definitely needs a revamp
Couldnt even get in because they wouldnt accept my ID? Im 23, was in a group of five, and not even the youngest one of the group.I learned later this place is known for this issue and I heard from others CCs regularly will just deny of-age patrons. I totally get it is their job, but at least have someone at the door who can tell a genuine license. Also explains why it was empty at the time.
My night was ruined before I even made it into the club. The staff (male bouncers) at the door were rude and gave off a I can treat you anyway I want because I know you have nowhere else to go kind of attitude. The bar staff argue amongst themselves in front of the customers, and the barbacks have very little or no concern for your personal space when theyre working.
If you want good alcohol, you have to be really specific, their generic rum or vodka tastes like gasoline. Line ups for drinks at 11:30...which is terrible.Good music and side space to chill.
Went on Wednesday night. It was a little slow at first but it picked up like our bartender justin said it would. We absolutely loved it. Justin was awesome. We would definitely come back!
This place stole my phone, and they took my wallet (ran a bunch of charges on my card) and my passport and when I confronted them they said they didn’t have it and tried to play stupid. Ive put in a formal police report both the guardia civil and reported them here in the states w/ the FBI.
If you ready for pure fun and who give a _uck! This is a place that welcome all! It doesnt matter if you are straight, gay and or whatever. You are home! Drinks and foods wise are very reasonable $$. A great place for a big group of gathering or a simple by yourself. Wheel chair accesable. Price wise are reasonable. $$.
Horrible place, by the way this place runs it’s gonna go out of business in no time.
Thurs-Sat: If youre in the mood to dance the night away in gay friendly atmosphere, look no further! CCs is always a fun, affordable night w/ $0 cover and many drink specials to help the wealth impaired like myself! These drinks are always strong! The dance floor can get a bit crowded, but dont be a drag, be a queen and stake your claim on that floor with your moves like jagger! For PDX newcomers, this is a great place to meet/make new friends.
Let me start off by saying i fully support LGBT and in fact identify as an ally myself… however the treatment i received today was outright disrectful. the bouncer was rude and made me look foolish
I called to see if the cc was going to have queens out for pride the person that picked up the phone was really rude and said to me well isnt that what pride is and hang up on me. I was just trying to find a good place to hang out with people but it will not be here if they act like that get it together you are in a customer service job I would never treat people or my customers like that
Would give zero if possible. Paid cover and had to run to my car to get medication, came back and was told I wasn’t allowed back in because it was at capacity but if I paid double the price they’d let me in the back entrance. Music sucked and staff is rude to say the least.
This used to be my go to place a couple years ago. Now it has quickly devolved into a sad caricature of what it once was. Where once their drinks we cheap and strong, they are now watered down (even their shots). Where once it was crowded and full of horny men, it is now sparse and empty. Where once it was fun, it is now lonely. Either avoid or make it fun again.
Most people hate crowded places. I hate crowded places. CC Slaughters is the most fun Ive ever had at a crowded place. I love the music and the drink are strong, inexpensive and quick to get. Everyone, employees and customers, always look happy to be there.
It was very clean and very lively. Wide selection of drinks. Besides the fact that I was unwillingly being touched by a fellow patron I enjoyed my time there.
My experience here visiting this last week was not good. The 2x I went I met very weird, angry people, the patrons were clearly being over served,AND IT IS NOT A SAFE AREA. YOU ARE NOT SAFE DURING THE DAY AND DEFINITELY NOT AT NIGHT.
Very hard to describe. Have been to gay clubs in La, San Diego, Miami, Honolulu and even Lake Tahoe as well as many others in much smaller locals. This felt like one of the smaller city/town gay clubs
Don’t eat at there gross little restaurant the food preparation is disgust they wear gloves but clean stuff and are eating and touching everything with the same gloves they are grosssssssss
Honestly I don’t even know why I keep coming back lol.Bartenders are rude and condescending. This place is Catered towards white people most of the staff is Racist.I gave the bartender a 20 for 3 Jell-O shots he said it was 6 dollars and he gave me 4 dollars change. They will literally steal your money, no wonder they couldn’t stay open during covid
Couldn’t get in without passport, even with enhanced drivers license. And nexus. This is clearly ridiculous, we are a group of men over 30, refused entry for failure to display acceptable identification, despite being able to enter the country with our ID’s.
The door man and my bartender were aggressively rude for no reason. This place seems to have no problem making guests feel uncomfortable and unwanted. What a shame.
Your bouncers kept an eye out for me when I left a different establishment too intoxicated and asked if I could wait there for my ride
Incredibly welcoming atmosphere and employees. I saw the best produced drag show Ive seen in a hot minute. I loved this place and will definitely return
Kool decor, great vibes & music. Wish they had on tap beers. Its all canned or bottled, but decent selection.
Pretty nice walking in, ordered a drink, and when I went to order a second got escorted out and told I was too intoxicated. Never been treated so terribly in my life after one drink. Never going back.
Totally fine well rounded gay bar. dancing, lounge, nice and cute bartenders.tip: they do the east coast broadcast of ru pauls at 6pm on mondays during the season :)
Had my gay sister in.law on for the weekend and wanted to show them a good time ...the dance floor was stinky Luke it had not been cleaned.lobg long lines for the only 2 bathrooms they had so small and the dancers were something to be desired oh my what a disappointment:-(
I had a hoot. Nice drinks, friendly people, friendly staff.
Was there this weekend and even though the guy that owns the place is a ok guy his employees have become horrible people that really have no respect for you. If you dont mind being treated like a child this is the place for you other wise I would try one of the many other great places in town!
Good drink prices, good music, pretty decent bar. Has been rather slow the last few times i stopped in but was probably just the wrong night for a bar like this.
Fun energetic and up beat atmosphere. Rocking awesome dj on the weekends all around great place
Very Welcoming crew and historic bar for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Went there for game night. Lovely staff, great space, nice (and very reasonably priced) drinks.
Excellent nightclub, the staff there is great and the Rainbow Room is awesome
Lots of straight people there these days, for a gay club, but Cici’s can’t help who comes in, they still do a great job.
Dont Go here!!! The staff is rude, your drink WILL get ruffied, then music is the same every weekend. The scene is nothing but drama.
Great mixologists. Be sure to stop in and see Madame Dumoore for a superb cocktail experience in the rainbow room.
If you see someone cutting the bar line you have to speak up. Awful. The Bartendar will help them.. EVERYTHING ELSE GREAT. LOVING LOCATION
Love CCs! Always great music, fun people and awesome drink specials! Especially love the shirtless bartenders ;)
Sunday Nights twinkie Bartender was less than Friendly.. In the Empty bar, nothing impressive to look at…
While I enjoyed the atmosphere and other bar patrons, the bar staff was extremely rude and less than helpful.
Rude and aggressive bartenders and staff. It used to be better. Has since gone downhill.
I thought it was a Bachelorette themed gay bar. One bar tender per bar. Im confused why I am here‽‽‽ I just want a drink with some guys.
Super cheap drinks here make it worth it. Sometimes it gets a little too packed to move around though. Try the jello shots.
Not my thing, everyone has a right to float their boat, thats cool; but sinking other peoples boats and infringing on on others rights aint so cool, INMHO
Drag shows FREE every Sunday night. Great place to hang out with local queers and dance your ass off.
This was such a fun night club. Great music and fun people. One of the highlights of my Portland trip
Omg it’s amazing Bolivia is great had a good time met lots of great people
This is the best place to go dance after youve already had a few, or to have a few on friday or Saturday when they have the special going!
Great Halloween decorations, fun drag show and decently priced drinks!
I hate their music. If just play hit songs that would be nice. Stop playing ridiculous music.
Super fun and energetic gay bar. Halloween is crazy fun! Or was that just a Tuesday? ;)
Whether you are just paying through or are a local, the folks at the Rainbow Room will make you feel right at home.
Cc’s is a great place to drink and dance! The Jell-O shots are bomb.
Visiting Portland for work, went out by myself and found this to be the most friendly of the 4 or 5 places I went to last night.
Great dancing, Great Drinks. Professional staff. Good times!!
Fun gay club with a lot of space, hot men and women, good music and good drinks.
I’m sorry but the music is terrible here. Please find a better DJ
Good drag queen shows and clean place. Hit or miss on the staff so beware.
Go on A Fri-Yay or Saturday!! The dance floor is lit!
Fun place...although many are more interested in cell phones than dancing
Friendly staff, good crowd. A little small, but its still a fun time.
Best place to dance good music bartenders all service doing good job
Great dance music. Not for the weak of heart or stomach. Definite meat market.
I would highly recommend going and supporting the drag show!!
Favorite place in existence, amazing atmosphere, spectacular performances, and loving souls all around 💕
Racial profiles. As Latino guy, its so sad that they profile me out for no reason. They even said there was no reason other than me needing to leave
Theyre reportedly closing after service on Sun, Oct 11. So if youre a fan of this place, head there while you still can.
I like it so far. Just few tables to sitting down while the shows are functioning.
Drinks are a bit spendy, but definitely a fun atmosphere.
Music is tasteful and the drinks are strong and delicious. What more could you want?
Small venue- can’t take drinks to patio area
Vibes are good but the music sucks :/
Lovely ambience, nice dance floor, drinks are ok
Good music and good size dance floor. People here are friendly.
Awful place. They discriminate. Avoid. No wonder they have such a low rating compared to competitors in the area
Same experience as the other 1 star ratings.
Cool place to stop by on a night out, good drinks and solid vibe.
Great people, music, drinks, dancing, drag show, and overall vibe!
Great dance floor, the staff is amazing 😉
Was there for Happy hour. Patrick is very kind
Had an amazing time there! Cant wait to go again.
Great inclusive night club. Love the dancers 💋💋💋
So many fantastic memories here. Lovely. Inclusive. Clean.
Come here if you enjoy being unfairly judged by cis gay men.
One should probably allow for a drink of water even after the bar closes.
Great music but the bartenders are kinda rude 🤮
Very judgmental and discriminating place. Don’t waste your time or money.
The music is too loud.please turn it down.the nightmare of loud music has started again.please help me save my sanity.TURN IT DOWN
$2 well drinks 10-11 every night - cant beat it!
This is a nice place to drink, dance and chill at.
The most entertaining gay bar in PDX.
Too many problems downtown Portland so I will be avoiding it.
Great inclusive place to grab drinks at!
Went home for a good time from here. so much to look at here!
Poor customer service! Don’t appreciate veterans! Never coming back again ever!!!!!
Great staff, great space. Love it!
Place went down hill, was mediocre, now its trash
The staff is great, very friendly and approachable.
Well drinks on Wednesday are diluted. For sure.
Best bar in the whole wide world
Very respectful, Very welcoming people
There is a ccs in Puerto vallarta!
Great space, good drinks
The bartender Stephen is great!
Fun, fresh, modern, and a good time.
Such a crappy I dont know why Im wasted my time
Expensive! Rude staff.
Good drinks good people.
Horrible service and mediocre queens
This club is dirty
Great Place!! Love it!
Kicked out for no reason.
The best!
Good security
