Good pours and friendly staff! They have a gentle older crowd during the day and would recommend for those that enjoy conversation.

Great neighborhood bar. Everybody is comfortable in their own skin.Every race, generation and phylum of LGBTQ patron was well represented. The bar staff was exemplary, best in class. I really like this place and likely, you will too.

I love The Loft because it’s the epitome of a great neighborhood spot where people know your name. It’s timeless and fun. Relaxed vibe and affordable. Not too divey, open to the outside. I’ve been coming here for years!

Becareful of potentially getting ripped off by the bartenders. My friends and I had our debit and credit cards inflated by the tip amount. We signed our receipts with our original tips. Our banks have almost 50 percent increase on the bill. Looks like someone is changing the tip amount to pad their pockets. Most recently this past Friday Saturday and Sunday nights after 11pm.I called to explain the situation and was hung up 4 times. All of us have notified our banks and law enforcement will be contacted after a report is generated with The Attorney General. Not the first time Ive been told this has happened at The Loft.

Laid back bar. Awesome drinks. All the staff knows your drink. George my favorite bartender. The entire staff is family oriented and cares about people.

The most laid back gay bar I’ve been in. I walked in a stranger and left with friends…A lone Brit, I went in on my own, which I never normally do. Everyone is friendly and easy-going.Thanks to Gerald for first welcoming me, and to Travis and all bar tenders It was great to be served by attentive bar tenders who were always so warm and friendly.

The owner looked at my friend, told him how cute he is, then looked at me and said “you, not so much”

Whilst on a work exchange I was taken here by my U.S. side colleague for what he thought as a macho straight male would be a hilarious joke to embarrass me. Backfired. British people dont give a dack what you do with yourself as long as its consenting. Beer was flowing drank him and his friends under the table. Hilarious patrons. Highly recommended.

We ordered kettle one Vodka and the dishonest bartender used el Diablo vokda. We called him on it and he lied. We watched him make the damn drink. So ghetto dishonest....we paid $21.00 for a cosmo and it was an $8.00.....we will not be back.

Initially, was unaware it was a gay bar but nonetheless, the waiter was nice and inviting. Great atmosphere. Would visit again. 😊

I like Old Fashioneds and usually have a better Bourbon selection than the other gay bars in the area.

My family and I were just at The Loft on Saturday morning (4/28/18).. the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. Me being female and native american.. didn’t experience any negativity at all. I would recommend The Loft to anyone looking to chill & wanting to play pool. Great place! Two thumbs up.

When you visit there, it will seem to you as if you met with your old friends. It is very friendly and sincere. Music of the past. You will want to go there again and again. When promotions take place here, you can get free drinks and a private room for an hour. To do this, I had to register on 909gay,com to create a profile, and show the administrator. It is remembered.

Its a place to get drinks and have a chat. Ive been by with my partner and few times now and everyone has been perfectly pleasent. Its not big but the folks are friendly and the bartender is on it. Dont be obnoxious and youre good.

This the best gay dive bar around. The staff is absolutely incredible, friendly and welcoming to everyone and the drinks are strong. Even during Covid this place has managed to keep it fun and comfortable.

I came here for only the second time ever in the last 8 years in SD. The bartender was super friendly and accommodating. He served me and forgot and recarded me when I ordered a second drink. Not sure if he was being nice or forgot but either way at least they are carding even us well over 35.The bar itself is a little stuffy for me bc it is small but it has such a huge draw and I could hear the conversations to tell it has a mirador of regulars who come here often.The bathroom was interesting. The art work was the same to say the least.

I used to frequent this establishment for years. They have strong, small drinks (much smaller than the normal drink at other local gay establishments) that are priced ok. Very small place, holds about 80 people with a pool table, 1 bathroom (yes for both men and women) and a juke box. Not very welcoming to new comers, especially if you are a woman. Gets really busy on Saturday and Sunday morning from a restaurant next door. They need better management, someone who will make sure all people are welcome. Someone who will get rid of certain people who harass new comers.

Friendly bar staff with stiff pours. Cocktails are pretty cheap considering prices of some of the other bars in the neighborhood. Clientele tends to be regulars, all on the older side. Expect lots of attention if youre young and hot (and male lol)

Such a fun place! Cool patrons and awesome bartenders. They made us feel right at home. They gave us hot sauces to sample and boy were they hot!!

Extremely dissatisfied, walked in with a group of freinds to check the place out, one of our members was having an issue with her ID they let her in on her freinds passport, we were trying to figure it out and one of the employees walked up told us that it wasnt a coffee shop, etreamly rude. So lost our business, negative, and just dumb we had heard great things about the place too.

I like to say this is more of a dive bar and I love It! The staff is the best and the vibe is very welcoming. If you want the best gay bar experience I would go here, much better than mos and flix. Also much better prices.

The loft is a great little neighhorhood bar. During the afternoon a gathering of local retirees will normally be the dominant group, storytellers mixing up legend and lore of days gone by, shared in a knights of the bar stool open format. As the evening begins the retirees are one by one replaced by thier younger working peers stopping in after work or heading out for the evening. The atmosphere is usually upbeat and friendly as many folks here have known each other for years. If youre new here youre bound to find a conversation in which to listen passively or if youre feeling up to sharing raise your voice or glass and take the stage and tell a tale. This may think this sounds a bit out of character for you, but be warned that drinks here are a little heavy handed and you wouldnt be the first to fall victim to a good time stagger or fall. Theres a pool table that can be enjoyed most any time and the bar has a standard array of flat screens and music to fill in the silence when it occurs. All in all its a fun place to meet or make friends with neighbors while a friendly staff tend refreshments that are generously poured at affordable prices.

This place is one of San Diego down and out bars in Hillcrest. They allow their customers to stand just outside of their door for smoking. They also allow their customers to stand outside and smoke and drink at their roll up garage doors windows. Their customers are old and drunk. It is time for the police to go and close them down. For allowing smoking within 25 feet of the open door and windows plus they keep feeding drinks to their customers when they are clearly drunk.

Andy is amazing.his personnel leading notch. Excellent solution, fair rates, clean restrooms as well as good songs. Check out their Sat Brunch and also Bloody Marys.

Service was ok...beer was different...the beer I asked for was shock top, it may processed like shock top, but it was way different tasting then shock top...the beer served to me was sweet and tasted like pineapple...not my type...but I drank it anyways...

They’ll give you weird looks if you’re not an old white man. Not very inclusive or welcoming, despite what it claims.

Was physically assaulted by the staff. I’m not talking about a little shove or push either. They literally threw me to the ground causing me harm to the point that I feared what they may do next. And no, I was not physical or violent with anyone to warrant their behavior. If you are a woman, I would think twice before going to this establishment.
