There was a hole in the ceiling of the 1st massage room at the Point Loma ceiling if that didnt make for an unsettling experience from the start... There was no consistency in the technique or any sort of flow from the massage technician Nina. At some points I thought she may have been drifting off to sleep because one hand was working while the other didnt even follow the same level of intensity or pattern on the other side, and spent a good amount playing with the ends of my hair rather than focusing on my scalp for a massage. This was at 12:30 in the afternoon though. The pricing is outrageous and the massage made me feel flattened / patted down rather than invigorated & flowing. Horrendous experience and letting the buyer beware.
One of the most frustrating massage envys that i have had to deal with. Over the time i have been a member i have had appts cancelled 10 minutes prior and getting call as i am in the parking lot. Now i am having to call multiple times and emails to get the help that I requested and getting the run around or no answer at all. I have put my account on a freeze and SRILL get charged. Such a scam!
The worst client service I have ever experienced. I purchased a package of 3, 60 minute massages for my father-in-law to use as a gift. We scheduled his first massage in January, but a few days beforehand it was clear he was too ill to go, so we called to cancel (that process was easy and they were kind/understanding). I waited a month or two to see if he would feel well enough to go, but his health declined so I realized he would be unable to use the package for himself.At this point, I went in to the Massage Envy location in person to see if they had any kind of refund policy. I was told they would not refund the package, but that I could use the credits myself. Not wanting to waste over $200, I agreed to use the package myself even though I already have a massage therapist I see regularly. I went ahead and scheduled my first massage that day, and the first appointment they had available with a female practitioner was almost a month out. I took the appointment, received the massage weeks later (was fine, nothing to write home about), and scheduled another massage when I left.I received that first (and only) massage on 5/16 and scheduled the next appointment for 6/9. A few days later, on 5/18, I received a text message from Massage Envy that I would need to pay full price for my massage on 6/9 because my package expired on 5/21. I was never told that the package expired prior to this. I called the location and explained my situation that day (and on a few other occasions), and was told that the manager would get back to me and work on it, that there was nothing they could do in the front as the package had entered its expiration period. Note - this location prefers to passive-aggressively text instead of returning phone calls to resolve issues.After making no attempt to offer any kind of grace period for the package (seems reasonable considering the extenuating circumstances, but apparently not), I simply gave up as there is no way to reason with unreasonable people. If youre looking for a mediocre massage and incompetent staff, this is your place!
The customer service rep Art is outright disrespectful. I needed to get credits transferred to my daughters appointment. Art was unwilling and untrained to help. He kept insisting the account was closed, which it wasnt, (but even if it was we have 60 days to access the credits) Instead of trying to come up with a solution, he would speak over us and became very snarky with his tone over the phone. Stating, I cant make you happy, oh well. I asked, You said your name was Art? He replied, Its NOT was Art, IT IS Art! (He couldnt comprehend why this was a rude reply) it is so sad and disappointing that we pay hard earned money for services to do self care and Art refused to provide basic customer service. Maybe he didnt know how and projected his own shortcomings onto me via phone. In which case Massage envy should do better training and actually adhere to the policies set forth in writing by corporate to their members. (I remember even going into this location for massages and NO ONE was at the counter, there was a sign up that read We will be back-out to lunch Then we see 2 young ladies running in from parking lot laughing and apologizing. You would think if there is 2 of you, then you should not take lunch together so one can stay back and watch the establishment you work at.) Dont waste your time and money here. I asked to speak to manager, owner or other staff- Art refused stating,I worked here for 16 months and I have never met the owner. He said no one can help until Monday. I tried explaining Our appt was today at 4pm, he wouldnt let me get a word out edge wise. And he eventually hung up on me. I am shocked that Art treats Massage envy customers like this.
I have booked appointments with this location 2 times because I received a gift card for Mothers Day. The first appointment was booked a month in advance. I arrived for my massage, filled out my paperwork and then was told that the massage therapist was a no show and I would have to reschedule. I asked for help in rescheduling and they told me to do it online.I rescheduled the second appointment and had to choose a date a month and a half in advance due to availability. My appointment is a week and a half away and I received a phone call today saying the massage therapist will be out of town. I asked if they just could assign somebody else because theres so much advance notice. They said no. I dont know what this places deal is but customer service certainly isnt their thing. Im working on getting the gift cards refunded and will definitely take my business elsewhere.
Ive had nothing but issues in this location. Ive asked to speak to a supervisor regarding a few problems Ive had in the PL location & as of today, no calls. I had an appt with then for next month because I wanted to take my sister for a facial for her birthday. I specifically said, please do not call my sister because this is a surprise. Well, they called her anyway. It just goes on and on.
I would give less of a star if I could. THIS LOCATION IS NOT MILITARY FRIENDLY. I had canceled my membership due to back to back underway for the forseable future. I had two massages on my account I wouldnt be able to use before they expire in two months. They wouldnt let me transfer them to family or get a refund.. money wasted because I went on deployment? My only option is to get a membership when I get back to be allowed to use them. I guess Ill eat the cost because Im not giving more money to such an unprofessional place. I do recommend mera mesa, they have different owners and different policies.
These M****** F****ers continue to make unauthorized charges on my credit card. They are stealing from me. They were never authorized to charge my card. My wife cancelled her subscription there years ago. When I called them last fall, they admitted that we had not been there in years and did not authorize the charges. They said repeatedly that the manager would return my call but he or she never did. I ultimately needed to cancel the credit card that they were charging and went through that hassle. Then, today, I found that these a**holes have started charging my credit card again. In total, the unauthorized charges -- the stole money -- add up to around $3,000!!!! These people should be in jail!!!If you have ever been to Massage Envy Point Loma, check your credit card statements. Last week, I discovered that over the last 5 weeks, they charged over $1600 to our credit card. My wife was a Massage Envy client over 2-1/2 years ago and has not been there since. I called Massage Envy three times to try to get these charges removed. The first time I called, the person with whom I spoke acknowledged that my wife has not been there since 2016, but would do nothing about the charges.Instead, each time, I was told that the manager would call me back. The manager never called me back and they never addressed this issue. This forced me to cancel my credit card to get the charges removed.
Ive been a ME member since 2014 and been to quite a bit of other locations but this is still my favorite ME shop.I met so many talented, great masseuses here. Zena, Nina, Jade, Liz and so on....Theyre all wonderful masseuses. Very professional yet down to earth and friendly.Special thanks to Liz who gives me super deep tissue massage for full 90 mins all the time. She fixes my bad shoulders every time I go there. My shoulders are finally out of chronic pain and much better than before.Also the ladies at the front desk are always so kind and easy to talk to. Theyve been giving me a lots of information about the massage and the products they use at the shop.I highly recommend this massage shop to anyone who wants a great massage and relaxation !
My husband and I were late for our appointment, but Massage Envy still honored our time. We got two different folks in diff rooms. My massage was supposed to be 60 min, I did not get the full 60. In fact, I started at about 115 and ended at 155. Still. My masseuse was attentive. My husband was not pleased at all with his service.
They were kind enough to put me on a last minute wait list, and when they got a cancel, they called. Therapist was great! Just the right pressure, found the necessary important hot spots and gave relief to the areas that needed it. Place is clean, quiet and staff is great. Beds are heated perfectly, rooms are spacious and they do not blast elevator music like some places do. If in town, pick this locale as they are great! Plus being close to the military bases they do things to support our troops. Well done folks, well done.
This location has always been incredibly friendly and accommodating! I specifically recommend Phoebe for a deep tissue massage! My muscles were so tight and I had so many knots, got headaches, couldn’t sleep comfortably, etc. but after I saw her, I had the best sleep I have had in weeks, already scheduled my next appt!
Therapists here are either always late or no shows last minute. Don’t waste your time or money here. Not worth it. I have no idea how they have so little accountability for their staff, it’s abhorrent. Massage Envy HQ should probably step in here….
Dont got conned into getting a membership, it is a nightmare. Near to impossible getting an appointment that isnt several weeks out. I rescheduled work to make an appointment, therapist didnt show btw if you cant make it on time they charge you. No offers from staff to make up for it, other than reschedule of apointment, could care less about you as a customer. Not a fun experience trying to get appointments and if you are lucky enough to get a decent therapist good luck getting on some kind of rotation with that person. Membership locks you in for a year, DONT DO IT!!!
This place was great service wise. Then when I had to leave the area for work I asked them to put my account on freeze for six months which they agreed to. Then they charged me once a month for 4 months after that I would call and they refunded one of the charges but kept continuing to charge and just apologizing. I finally cancelled my membership but just one last hoorah they charged this month too. I led you can be a regular go ahead but if your military and lead an active travel lifestyle stay away cause theyll steal your money.

It was a surprise for my husband and I got babysitter for my baby!! So they ruing our day !!! Do for yourself a favor and book massage at a different place!!
This establishment is extremely unprofessional. They have been charging my credit card since 2020 anc I haven’t been in since. When trying to resolve the issue, the manager doesn’t return my calls or my emails. Do not go here. They are crooks. The managers name is Geonne
Very bad service very bad experience!!!!!!!! My friend has a birthday today and we had an appointment for her birthday massage from couple of days ago, today they called me 3 hours before the appointment and told me that my therapist can’t to work and they had to cancel her appointment, of course with no other option to find any other massage cause they are all booked , she already paid for a babysitter cause they planned a day off for the birthday,
They have a great new massage therapist name Casey, she was incredible!!! She did some great deep tissue work and all my pain away! Highly recommended!!

Difficult to get ahold of something to try & book, and now this place is pulling the whole “marketplace price adjustment” scam as well, where they charge you to use the session you’ve already purchased - such a joke.

This locations manager and owners customer service is HORRIBLE. I have called 6 times and called corporate 3 times and no call back to address an issue I have with this location! How can they treat members this way??? Clearly they dont treat they clients well.

Place needs to be cleaned. Carpets are clearly not vacuumed and there’s visible dust on fixtures.
