I went here for a work Recognition meeting. We had the event upstairs, and with everyone there, it was jam-packed but still a good experience. The service was still good and quick. I didnt really get much while here but a drink, and I would like to return sometime to try out the food when its less crowded.
Great food. Friendly staff. Cool place. Ate on the second floor and drank more on the first floor after. We went to watch the Lions game and had a great time. Very happy they put the game audio over the speakers. Ordered a pretzel (huge) and split a burger. The pretzel was great and the burger was above average. The only complaint was that a Guinness was served in a plastic cup, but Im fully aware it may have been due to the high volume of people on a busy day. Id definitely come back.
My husband and I like to find new places with a great Old Fashioned. It is important to us that there is consistency in their drinks and well made. We tried this restaurant and Sarah was our server and bartender. We ordered several Old Fashioned and they were consistent, perfect, and absolutely delicious. She was very sweet, great experience all around. For food, we only had the pretzel and the poutine. But they were both yummy and very reasonably priced. I definitely recommend trying this place out!
We held my daughter’s wedding rehearsal dinner here. We reserved the second floor and it was perfect. We wanted a casual atmosphere and this setting did not disappoint. There’s so much history in this building .. opened in the 1800’s as a saloon and still retains some of the original brick and wood floors which made for some great pictures. Service and food were outstanding.
Went to the ball game and came for drinks after. Our server was an absolute dream! My only regret was I didn’t ask her name to include it in this review. It was during happy hour. She went over and above to explain everything and had a knock out smile. I have never had a bad experience here but today was even more special. Love this place.
Fun place to hang out before a baseball or football game. Willing to accommodate large groups at a whim. Back parking lot usually has tailgating for football games.
I hosted my wedding rehearsal dinner at firebird, in their upstairs area. They specialize in parties like that. We had the whole upstairs to ourselves, which included bathrooms and a full service bar for just our guests. Jenna was my contact during the booking and planning process. It was super easy and honestly prices were reasonable for that kind of a party. Food was fabulous. We had a buffet ready to go when we arrived. The service was also wonderful. I highly recommend doing your Detroit wedding rehearsal dinner, shower, etc., here! Thanks again guys!
Omg, if youre ever in Detroit, this is a must try. I never give prefect 5 star ratings, but the Firebird is amazing. The Philly cheese steak sandwich was the best one Ive ever tasted. The bartender (Jeremiah) was great. He gave us great suggestions of things to do while we were in town. The prices were fair. Atmosphere was good and everything was clean. I will always come back whenever Im in Detroit.
I can only speak to the downtown spot, hands down cleanest taps , how can I tell ?!! The taste, you can’t even compare. You have to try yourself, don’t take my word for it. I’m not an avid beer drinker, my go to is soft parade, it just hits different here ! Burgers; amazing, tacos; amazing. Best part , great prices.
Awesome place! The food was fantastic. The drinks were great too with lots of choices! The poutine fries were delicious! This would definitely be in my top ten of poutine fries and I try them alot! Our courdon blue chicken sandwich was fantastic. I am not sure what the breading is but it is perfect! The mix with the perfect bun and argula lettuce is just great! Our server Lana was helpful, friendly and attentive! The atmosphere is great like old world pub! Nicely decorated for Christmas! Just a great place! I would highly recommend making this one of your stops when visiting Detroit. Oh and they are open again as a Buffalo Bills Backer spot for the Thanksgiving day game. This is a must check out place! #buffalobills #billsmafia
Firebird Tavern’s private event space was PERFECT for the recent wedding rehearsal dinner that we hosted! The space is cozy with a great ambiance. The food was DELICIOUS and the service was FANTASTIC! From start to finish, from booking to the conclusion of the event, it was a top-notch experience. Jenna, the Private Events Manager, was so friendly, available and great to work with! Jordan and Stephanie, our event bartenders, were very friendly and professional and were so complimentary of our family and friends. PJ, the General Manager, was friendly, attentive and available throughout the evening. Such a wonderful Friday kick-off event in Greektown for a wedding weekend in the “D”!! Highly recommend!!
Grabbed a pretzel, corned beef hash sandwich and diner burger…i want to say, in all seriousness, this meal was better than the $500 meal i had at prime + proper the night before. phenomenal. great selection of beer as well.bartender (serena? it was with an “s” i’m sorry if that wasn’t the name you told us. that’s what i heard haha) was also a highlight. we got there when they opened and she was the only one on but handled it beautifully. excellent service and a fun person to talk to. we stayed for about 2 hours and ended with shots of tequila. when we took the shots we realized the cups had these cool crosses on the bottom. we ASKED the bartender if we could buy them. we offered $100. yes that’s a lot of money for two tiny cups but i don’t care, i loved them. being a person that has been in this industry for 17 years i have done this countless times. we didn’t just pocket them, we asked.a few new workers came in and it seems they were transitioning. the new bartender came up to take our glassware and we told her “no thanks” and we also told her we were trying to buy the glasses. she got very curt and mumbled about how she doesn’t think we can do that and ran off to talk to a few people. she came back and said “sorry they are the owners and they are very expensive” (they were behind the bar with everything else) we said that was totally fine and moved on.at this point we were ready to leave as we had been there 2 hours and needed to get going to the show and asked for the tab, i wanted to close out with our original bartender and also to apologize to her for asking for the glasses as it appeared as though this new bartender was very upset as she was cornering every person and talking about it and was very short and angry about it. i told the new bartender “i’d like to close out with the original bartender, please” and she said “i’m just trying to help her” to which i kindly replied “i understand, i just wanted to close out with her” in response she walked about 10 feet away and very loudly proclaimed to me “I WASN’T GOING TO STEAL HER MONEY OR ANYTHING”. what a vapid and unnecessary thing to say.first of all, i don’t take kindly to anyone talking out the side of their mouth to me and i’m certainly not going to deal with that from a person who showed up to work basically wearing pajamas.secondly, it is not bad form or rude to close out with the bartender who served you. never has been and never will be.Food 10/10 Original bartender 10/10 Kind manager who was helping and also gave us great service 10/10thank you for an awesome experience here in Detroit, unfortunately your one immature, rude, combative & sloppy bartender will keep me from ever returning.
When I tell you they have one of the best smash burgers Ive ever had!!! Believe me!! It and the service was so great I bought coasters and a beer glass! This place is it!!!
I have a severe peanut allergy and called a couple of days before arrival to ensure that the food would be safe. One of the coowners, Owen, went as far as to call the chef, read all of the ingredients in every meal and even left a note to make the staff aware of my allergy. When I came there, the other owner, Jeremiah, came to my table to let me know that they had told the kitchen that morning about my allergy and ensured my food would be safe. I have never in my life had a restaurant take my allergy so seriously and I was taken aback by the level of care and service I was given. The food was amazing as well as the staff and I will definitely be coming back!
I hosted my rehearsal dinner here and it was fantastic! The food was great, the space was very nice and spacious, and the service was phenomenal. I would recommend this space to anyone looking to host an event!
The Firebird Tavern in Greek Town is a great place to host any group venue. Jenna is a true professional and could not have been more helpful when organizing our rehearsal dinner from long distance. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and helpful, and the second floor space with its stunning bar and brick walled rooms made for a very comfortable evening. Fun was had by all. I highly recommend the Firebird Tavern and am thankful to them for making our event a success.
My fiancé and I had our rehearsal dinner at The Firebird Tavern! It was reasonably priced and the food was excellent. The only issue was we ran out of food towards the end (only a couple people were effected), but we were able to order chicken wings and pretzels for them. My only suggestion is to order more food than not, especially if your family is full of “foodies” like ours. Amazing venue on the second floor, it was set up on time, they even put cute center pieces out! The staff was friendly and communicative. I’d highly suggest eating or renting out the firebird tavern for an event!
Great drinks! We ordered food, but our waitress forgot to put it in, and we had to go to another event, so we werent able to wait to eat. We were also over charged for one of our drinks based on their menu price. But maybe we just didnt have a great waitress. So I would definitely try it again. Cool atmosphere a
Rob was a perfect bartender. Food was excellent. The atmosphere was relaxed. Perfect spot for a drink.
I had the most fantastic 40th birthday celebration at your Troy location. The staff went above and beyond to make our experience special. From the warm welcome to the delicious food and impeccable service, every detail was perfect. A huge thank you to the team for contributing to a memorable day. Highly recommend for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Love this place. I come here for lunch when I work at the office. Service is good and I have no problem getting back to work within an hour. Its in one of those old Detroit buildings so atmosphere is great.Food is excellent, too. From seasonal dishes to burgers to pasta - its all good here.
Stopped in for a quick drink and the service was excellent. Loved the interior of the bar.
Stopped in with my sister on 11/10 and 11/12 for a few drinks before the Metallica shows. The bartender Rob was the highlight of mine and my sisters experience. He encompassed everything a bartender should from professionalism, upbeat personality, communication and friendliness. He was quick, efficient and an overall fantastic asset to this bar and any other bar he may venture on to. The drinks and atmosphere were phenomenal as well. Would give this bar 10 stars if I could simply for the service alone. If I ever come back to Detroit this is definitely going to be my bar of choice!
Amazing food, great service and good drinks. Superb.
Very good wings. Want expecting that. I gotta go back
Went for the Lions vs 49ers game for the super bowl. Place was packed. Everyone was friendly. Even though the lions lost in the end. It was a great time
Stopped by here for lunch working in Downtown for the day. Food was great, everyone in our group got something different and we all loved it. I had the Philly Cheesesteak, everything came out fresh and the beer cheese was exceptional. Would love to come by for a drink too, has a few cocktails that look good and the atmosphere is that old Detroit bar feel.
Although we have gone to Greektown for many years, we have never been in Firebird before. We were missing out. This is such an inviting bar/ restaurant with exactly the vibe we were looking for. Great chicken wings and beer pretzel. Very friendly bar tender. We’ll be back.
Such friendly bartenders, delicious food, and great drinks! Just popped in for a drink during happy hour and ended up staying for dinner and deciding to host our event there.
We came here prior to the Taylor Swift concert and loved that they had created a TS themed drink menu! The staff was super busy but very friendly and service was quick. We also ordered food which took a little longer (but honestly, given how busy it was, that was to be expected) but tasted great. Thanks for an awesome time!
This place turned out to be a hidden Diamond in the rough, to watch the Lions game! Service was outstanding through the roof as busy as they were. Food was awesome. Drink prices were reasonable. I dont go to downtown very often, but highly recommend this spot to hang out and watch the games! Customers came in goods to catch the very end. The waitress fidca phenominal job processing them all very quickly abd getting drinks in everyones hand before the Lions 73 second drive even ended! She was amazing! The pouting was awesome & hard to find on this side of the border! Service, food, drinks, & crowd were a night & day difference from the stuffy overpriced seafood place across the street, with the terrible service!
This is an amazing tavern here in Detroit. While a little limited in the amount of food they make here, it is of high quality. I had the Fire Bird chicken sandwich which was awesome. There was a nice balance of flavors with the sandwich and isnt too heavy. While this sandwich came with fries, this place also makes its own potato chips which are worth the try. The drink menu is a lot bigger and offers something for everyone.since it is in Greektown, there will be crowds so just watch out for that.
A must while in Greektown! Easy to get to, close parking, a short walk from Ford Field or Comerica Park. One wouldnt expect such an upscale tavern in downtown Detroit. Go for the ambiance and stay for the food at reasonable prices. Recommend the Chicken and Grits; the chicken is the most tender and juicy youre sure to have EVER!
Not a huge meal but good food. Wings and burger are the best.
We did a corporate meeting here after being turned away from another popular restaurant b/c they didn’t have staff. I’m so happy it worked out that way! The owner Tony along with his events person Jessica were awesome. Private area - food was delicious and our 2 bartenders Jordan & Stephanie were top notch! Cannot wait to go again !!! Thanks to the entire team for making our event a success!!!
Ive come here plenty of times for lunch, and the experience is always top-notch. The food is great, the staff is friendly and professional, and the atmosphere is cozy and just a nice place to take some time to relax during a stressful day.
Went today for a daytime birthday celebration, and had so much fun that we didnt want to leave. Jeremiah and Serena were awesome and made us feel welcome, served great drinks, and were a blast to talk to. We will be back!
POUTINE!! So good! Bar bingo on Thursday was fun. Good food, good service. Been there many times.
Amazing place with amazing food. Chef looked happy and the Staff was very friendly and prompt.
We bought tickets for the Thursday night Draft event. Said it was until 11:30pm. Got there at 9, they stopped letting people in.
Love the firebird burger. Fries taste like original McDonalds fries. Love this place.
We went there for an early lunch and while the restaurant was initially empty, by the time we left, it was about 60-70% full. The waiter was kind and the food came out fast. I ordered the chicken wrap. It already came with fries which were delicious. The wrap itself tasted okay, and it was cold. I didnt like the texture of the chicken and I wish it was cooked a little more. The prices were comparable to other restaurants in the area. My friends had the burger and said it tasted really good.
I disagree with the person who recommended this place for us as a go-to for sports. Food was mediocre, music was too loud, and only 1 game was being played on ll televisions. No variety. Maybe its better another day of the week. Not great on a Sunday.
The cocktails here are amazing, I highly reccomend the Country Smash. The Summer Ravioli was delicious as was the Diner Burger. Thank you to the bartender working tonight when the Guardians vs Tigers game was postponed. We felt so welcomed here and had fun talking to the others at the bar. We will definitely be back next time we are in Detroit.
Decided to stop in for a bite to eat before a concert. We went upstairs and were 2 of only a few people up there. The bartender Rob was awesome. There was another two girls who were great too, just can’t remember their names. The food was even better. Absolutely delicious, well cooked, prepped etc. and It came out as quick as you’d expect at your local Mexican joint.I cannot recommend this place enough. Everything was fantastic. Food, service, bartenders, everything. It made our stay i Detroit for the night even better. Will be going back next time im Up there
Only negative thing I can say is its loud. Not always a negative but if youre looking for a quiet experience this may not be for you. Service was great and good excellent.
We recently stopped by Firebird to watch the Champions League soccer game final, and we were blown away by the food, atmosphere, and service. Selena was our waitress and WOW - I can’t say enough about how fantastic and attentive she was! Despite having to cover multiple tables and serve a huge crowd of people during the game, she handled it flawlessly and always made sure we had all of our needs met. The food was delicious, definitely a huge step above regular bar food. There were plenty of TVs, so it’s fairly easy to get a good view of the game regardless of where you’re sitting in the restaurant. We also loved that the check has a QR code that allows you to pay for the bill electronically if you’d like, essentially speeding up the process of cashing out. Firebird is one of our new favorite spots in Detroit, and we can’t wait to come again.
We loved it here! All our food was great. Good prices. Nice old building in down town. Well be returning when we come through town. Pretty sure they dont have a bad menu item.
I enjoyed this place and told my wife that we needed to come back. The wings were cooked to my liking and the sause I tried was spicy and delicious. The plain wings were great.I also had the clam chowder and I like that it had more of a roux base as opposed to milk....... similar to Sinbads. I ordered steak bites for my entree. I was expecting something similar to Fishbones but it might have been tenderloin slices. Had steak and eggs with the leftovers.
Great place to stop in for a cocktail! Bartender was great and knowledgeable. We came in later and kitchen was closed but food looked good at other tables.
We hosted our welcome party the night before our wedding at the Firebird Tavern and it was absolutely perfect. The food was wonderful and the staff was even better. We had about 75 guests and thus wanted a more casual atmosphere and the Firebird delivered. Jenna, Firebirds event coordinator, was amazing to work with. I would highly recommend this venue for a welcome party, rehearsal dinner or any other event!
We cannot say enough great things about Firebird! The staff was exceptional and the team helped us put together a great event. Jenna was a huge help in keeping us organized and her thoughtful approach gave us confidence in working with Firebird over other venues. If I could do it all over, I would have just invited more people!
The prices and service were terrible for the quality of food and service. We ordered the poutine fries and they were served in a small bowl you would eat cereal from… a handful of ore Ida fries with some dark brown gravy out of a packet and bag mozzarella… This was $15.00 and prob cost $2.00 to make, it was pitiful… calling them Poutine Fries is 100% false advertising. 12oz beers in plastic cups were $6.00. Let’s talk about the sandwiches… The Rueben was $16.00 and made with 3-4 slices of deli lunch meat and cooked on the flat top until it was rock hard served with the same terrible fries…seriously… (change your Aramark brand fries). The chicken sandwich was the same, dry, no flavor and impossible to eat and that was $16.00. The food took 2 hours and getting a beer refill was next to impossible…at these prices I’m glad we didn’t have any more beer…I’ve seen better food and service on the TV show Bar Rescue…before he rescues the bar 😂6 beers= $36.00Poutine= $15.002 sandwiches= $32.00+ tax and Tip was $105.00.
Perfect venue! Excellent catering service
This is one of my favorite places downtown. Looking for a bar that serves something better than bar food? This is your place. I love their staff and management who always do a great job of making sure we are taking care of when we go in.
Sat upstairs at the bar pre- Lions game Those girls were hustling ! Shout out to the bartender Rizzie ! That girl can multitask and provide excellent service! Definitely be back !
Food was OUTSTANDING!! Fresh, hot and flavorful. Our group of four were completely satisfied. Service was fast and friendly. This place filled up quickly. After eating here, it’s obvious why. Highly recommend you try them if you’re in the area.
I planned a private event for My Community Dental Centers with Jenna at Firebird. Jenna was extremely helpful and easy to work with, and answered all of my questions. The private event space on the second floor is beautiful and the food was fantastic! The use of multiple screens and microphone was great for our presentation. The staff members were all so kind and helpful- particularly Stephanie, PJ and Daniel. We would definitely recommend Firebird Tavern to anyone looking to host an event in Detroit!!
I just held a surprise retirement party here at Firebird. The staff were so friendly and professional. Everyone had an amazing time, the drinks, food and service was all top notch.I highly recommend holding an event here. Jenna Jackson the event coordinator made it so easy and fun.Pricing was clear from the beginning and there were no hidden fees or anything like that.Great work everyone at Firebird! I will definitely be back!
Historic, cozy, warming decor. Bartenders friendly. Will be back for a meal, only stopped in for Cocktails and the Manhattan was awesome.
Hosted our parents memorial here on 3 weeks notice since our original location burned down. Jenna who manages events could not have been easier to work with, super quick responses and went out of her way to work with us on some special requests. The bartenders and other staff that worked the lunch were AMAZING! Very supportive and fun to be with. Would definitely recommend Firebird Tavern to anyone looking to host an event in Detroit!!
We had an amazing rehearsal dinner at Firebird! Jenna was a big help with her great communication and professionalism. We arrived to a warm welcome from out bartenders Kadie and Lana, they took care of our guests and ensured we had everything we needed. The food was fantastic...everyone loved the relaxed set up and grazed on the buffet style spread! This is how Detroit does it!!🙌
Great environment, service, Food and drinks! The shrimp and grits are amazing. Feel free to wash it down with their spiced hot chocolate. If youre a burger person , you are in luck!
Plastic cups limited menu for the lions game very displeased with service and options! Home game tons of fans and bad decisions made by management! Good luck
Large drink selection. Bigger than the menu. But dont let that fool you! All 4 dishes on the table looked killer and all four of us enjoyed our meals. You like poutine? They got great poutine (coming from a Canadian I know). You like pork? They got great pork belly bowls. (coming from a guy I know that likes pork. \_(~) _/Nice atmosphere on the first floor. Didnt see second floor. Maybe for banquets or business meetings?Great staff.~PS. INCREDIBLE LOGO!
Everything was amazing as usual. The food is top-notch, and service is that as well. On top of all that the prices are reasonable. I love the atmosphere at this place.
Jordan was awesome, busiest bar night of the year! She never let our glasses go empty, and she made great recommendations! And those soft pretzels are over the top!
Food was DELICIOUS! Even better than the food, the service was quick, efficient, and extremely attentive. Manager stopped by table to check if everything was satisfactory, and the server, Katelyn, stopped by regularly and knew all the answers to our questions about the menu and drinks. Dishes were removed immediately when we were done and the bill was dropped quickly after we finished. If I could give 10 stars, I would. This was our first time here, but we will DEFINITELY be back!!
Always a good time Tito Vodka pre parties as well
Stopped in on a Wed evening for after event drinks. Not busy at all. Excellent service from Sia. Absolutely gorgeous woodwork, benches, ceiling, and bar. Will be coming back for food and more of that tavern atmosphere. 🍺 😃
We were waiting to be seated for 20 minutes and the staff continued to look over at us and ignore us. We ended up just leaving. If you’re busy that’s understandable but at least acknowledge your guests.
A bar suffering from an identity crisis trying to do too much and ends up doing none of those things particularly well. The menu is relatively unique in design but lacks in quality of execution, the selection of beverages isnt terrible but leaves something to be desired, and the atmosphere is confusing at best and uncomfortable at worst. With so many other good options in walking distance, this one didnt do enough to warrant a second visit.
My boyfriend and I went here before a Red Wings game. We’re from the West side of Michigan so we were taking a chance on this place, and it was great! The environment was nice, the burger and pretzel we had was great, and so was the beer and cider! I would recommend going here if you’re from out of town and wanna have dinner at a nice “pub” restaurant. Mostly importantly, the food was really affordable. Good price for good quality.
The Chef was amazing, the chicken and grits, spectacular. Waitress was great also, met a waitress a block away and she recommended the place and the dish. So glad we met her, cant remember any names, but will definitely be returning 😎
We had our rehearsal dinner, mini-reception, and post-wedding brunch here and could not have been more pleased. Things were a bit last/minute on our end as our original reception was canceled due to the pandemic but Jenna (the events manager) and her team went above and beyond to make our day a special one. Not only was the service phenomenal, but the food was stellar! Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the beef tenderloin, the tortellini, the vegetables, and everything else on the menu! Great drinks as well! PJ the bartender was excellent and there was another young lady there whose name we cannot remember who was also on top of things. We recommend this venue 1000% and can’t wait to return when their downstairs restaurant/bar opens back up! Thank you for everything!
Super chill place with great service, drinks and food. Highly recommend!
Incredibly hospitable for group of 250 at least from Caledonia for pregame of state championship high school football game. Tony and his crew were so helpful and pleasant. Hope to run it back next year!
Had dinner last night at Firebird. First time in and everything was amazing. Start out by noticing how clean the place is, which is a huge factor for me. Our bartender was very knowledgeable on the menu and bar selections. They have a great bourbon selection and a great beer list. The beer list is pretty big but not overwhelming like a lot of beer bars. We had the baked cheese curds and was amazing, bubbly hot. We had the short ribs and chicken and grits and all was perfect. This is a tavern but their food is much more of a step up from basic tavern fare. The place had a good crowd and our service was on point. With all the places to dine in the Greektown area, this is the #1 choice. Will be back for sure.
Awesome upper level dancefloor. DJ wanted to accommodate just about any crowd and it showed. I never bought drinks but the bartenders were both very polite. Ive seen nicer bouncers but there was never an issue. Bathroom was clean the one time I dropped in.
Very good pub fair. Excellent service and, while the choices are normal for pub food, the quality is a step above! Prices are pretty good for downtown, between $11-15. Everything is good from meatloaf to chicken sandwich, so order whatever you want.
We had our wedding rehearsal dinner on the second floor of Firebird Tavern and would recommend to anyone for any private event. The coordination ahead of time to plan the event was clear and straight forward and the event set up and food were excellent!
What a GREAT place! We held surprise party there and everyone involved from Jenna (events coordinator) to Kaitlyn (server) to BJ (host) were fantastic! Food was excellent and service was fast and super friendly. We came up from out of town so we didnt know what to expect - and everything turned out perfectly. Kudos to FT and their entire staff!
4 of us stopped in for a drink before dinner while in town for the Eagles concert last week. Ended up cancelling our dinner reservation and staying there for more drinks and dinner. Friendly service, good drinks, and good food were a part of it...but mostly it was the GM. PJ stopped by our table a few times and with his dry humor and sharp wit, he convinced us we were already in the best place for food. 3 of us ordered the fish tacos and 1 had the steak frites. We had a great meal and when it was time for the concert there was a free shuttle to LCA waiting outside.. It doesnt get easier than that. After the concert we took the shuttle back to Firebird for a nightcap - and ended up purchasing a 6 pack of their delicious made from scratch canned Paloma Cocktail. A great experience all around. Well be back.
Great service and management! Asked our large group to move tables after we did not have a reservation and we happily moved and management gave us a free app 😭 thank you! So kind great servers and great atmosphere. 10/10 visit again. Kaitlyn was awesome and so nice as well.
The food was awesome. The waitress was very nice and polite. It was great that the owner came up to us and ask us how was our food was and how we were doing. We will for sure come back to this place again. I will recommend the fried green BLT the best.
We hosted a rehearsal dinner at Firebird and everything went smoothly from start to finish. Jenna, the Private Events Manager, was wonderful to work with and followed up immediately on any questions we had throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them and would consider them for any future needs!
Great food, great drinks, great staff. Tony and Owen run a tight ship, and it shows. Great place to watch sporting events. Their happy hour is half off any domestic beer, which is fantastic. Trivia on Wednesday nights, and on Fridays and Saturdays, they open up the second floor as a dance floor for those seeking a bit more entertainment on the weekends, while still providing a more low key option on the main floor for those whod rather chat and watch whatever sports are playing on the TVs.
3-6 Happy Hour menu is awesome. Food was great! Nice selection of drinks. Will definitely go back.
Polished . Prompt service, plentiful portions, polished wood everywhere. Full bar, craft beer, full kitchen. I have wanted to go here for a while and now that I have I will definitely be coming back. I really like the space and style in this little tavern. It feels slightly like a British pub, but I dont think they are trying to do that, but it is warm and cozy feeling like a nice old pub.
Skinny margaritas were perfect!
In town for a concert, Nick waited on us & he - everything was fantastic!Loved the Fish Tacos & their new Churros.I had their special woodford old fashion & it was also great! Would definitely recommend. Staff was a good crowd, & fun to be around. Might have to stop back, when we’re in town again.Oh & get the vanilla bourbon with the churros !!!! AMAZING.
The bourbon and craft beer selection here is awesome. Great service and great food, try the short rib or the chicken and grits! This is place is definitely my favorite Detroit bar to go to before a Red Wings game
The has been a staple tavern for years and I think that they have some of the best bar food in Detroit. I have been here most commonly for trivia nights and work gatherings and they have a downstairs bar which is small to medium tables. Upstairs is an event space and bar good for parties, and they frequently feature local DJs up there. Fun spot, clean, and atmosphere is very friendly.
Love the woodwork in this historic bar. Food has been good both times I have been. Staff is friendly. It was crowded and we moved two tables together which limited some of their access. They seemed fine with it.
We had our rehearsal dinner at Firebird Tavern and could not have been more pleased! Jenna was a dream to work with and the evening was a complete success! I strongly recommend Firebird Tavern if you are looking for a great place to host your event!
We had such great service tonight at Firebird Tavern. Lisa and Tim were amazing. They were so friendly and definitely the best service we have ever had in Detroit, and we have been to multiple places in the city. If you are looking for a bite before a tigers game or just a drink I would totally recommend this place. Our food was delayed, (we didnt even notice) and the general manager came out and apologized and offed to comp us for delay, which never ever happens. We will be back for sure. Its great to find a little place with such awesome service.
My friends and I go to Firebird on a regular basis, and have spent plenty of money. But after last night most likely will not be going back after our experience. We had meet a birthday party there around midnight and they were seated at the table in back in the first level. Everyone decided to go upstairs, 4 of us stayed behind to get a drink. All the sudden a waitress starts telling us we didnt pay a bill at the table. Which none of us had a tab at. After trying to explain that is was someone else at the table and one of us could try to go find them upstairs and get them so they could pay. Before we were able to the owner walks out from the back. He started to accuse and yell at us for the same thing (his breath reeked of alcohol). My friend tried to explain what happen and the owner tried to start a fight with him. After standing at the bar awkwardly blocked in by these two, we decided to pay the $24.00 tab. Just so we could try and enjoy the hour left at the bar to celebrate a birthday. Wont be heading back after this display of poor customer service.
Great place, food options are a little lacking (wings dont have bbq option??) But they serve Brix soda which is the best. Comfortable seating too.Service was decent but she spent most of the time with a large grouo. I dont blame her but it was difficult to get her attention for the bill. They also have a club upstairs that opens late into the evening, I cant rate that though as we just sat at the bar.
We had an excellent time. The bartenders and servers were awesome. I will definitely reccomend to my friends.
Grabbed food and beers with 2 familys before football championships. Food was great, service was great too. Owner was there making sure everything was perfect. We recommend!
We go for lunch quite often. The lunch menu is not very big, but literally everything is delicious. I usually get the Alden, highly recommended. Great service, the owner is usually there and is so friendly. I really like this place.
All the food is great. The steak frites are amazing and so is the bahn mi bowl. The bbq chicken flatbread is a great appetizer! I get the Paloma to drink every time.
I held my daughter’s 50th Surprise Birthday party at Firebird Tavern at the end of May. I couldn’t have been happier with the food, the service, and the ambience. Everyone that worked that there that evening made sure the party was a success! Jenna, their event planner, could not have been any better to work with from day one. She was always available for questions on the phone or texting and she went above and beyond in her commitment to me seeing that the party was a complete success. I highly recommend anyone considering an event or party at Firebird Tavern to do so without hesitation. They are fabulous!
Really like what theyve done here. First and second floor are amazing. Great beer selection and prices. If you get a chance stop in here for lunch. Plenty of HDTVs to see all the games on. The look and feel of this place is just like the corner bar, but offers so much more. Also a great place to host an event.
We just hosted our 10 year reunion here and they went above and beyond! Josh & the dark haired bartender both made our night epic! They kept up with all of our drink orders, their service never slacked, not once. They had hors doeuvres set out for us, plenty of tables, candles, the perfect lighting, great music & the perfect vibes for a great night. And they were such excellent communicators! I will be back! Thank you for making our night such a memorable one!
There was no cover which was cool. Downstairs seemed real chilled and laid back. Upstairs was a bit crowded, music was pretty good tho. The bartenders were terrible. Pretty much just throwing drinks together with attitudes. Ended up in a verbal dispute with one of them because they didnt make my drink the way I asked. Never had a problem with bartenders until then. So if ur looking for a place with No cover, nice crowd, good music and horrible bartenders then this is the place for you.
Enjoyed my visit here. Wasnt terribly busy, but the atmosphere was loud for conversations. Cocktails were good. I got the fish tacos which were good, but the short ribs my friends got looked and tasted amazing.
The staff is amazing, they were really busy but you got your drinks fast.Yes, go get a drink here.
We stopped by this bar after not being able to get into Oshaleaghlys. Imagine 53 years old getting carded and not being able to get in because my friend had no i.d. The firebird Tavern welcomed us and gave us a shuttle ride to the Elton John concert. Much more class and better level of customer service than bar next door!
Atmosphere was typical bar. food was good. they had limited meu for event the day I went .
We came to the bar hoping to have fun in Detroit. Danielle gave us the best experience we could have asked for. Danielle was kind, fun, and helpful. She made our experience at Firebird and in Detroit fun and exciting. She was energetic and fun-filled, could not ask for a better bartender
Recommend the handmade meat loaf, airline chicken & cheese grits. Both entrees were delicious paired with a creamy, smooth wheat nitro ale on draft. Salads are fresh but large. Ask for Etta. She is an awesome server.
Sat right away had server at table within a minute of sitting great food and service
The nicest service I have ever received. I ordered something off the menu and I just didnt like it because of personal taste. they were kind enough to offer me a replacement with no extra charge. Will definitely go back. Great service and my second meal choice was really good!
Nice place. Great staff. Good drinks. Portion size was a little small on the steak but the Firebird sandwich was big and good. Very good appetizers. I
Im pregnant, which means frequent potty breaks. I saw Firebird Tavern didnt have a line to get in so I told security my sisters & I would patron the business after I went to the restroom & they could even stay outside while I went in incase security was suspicious. After having to beg outside at the door & explain I was pregnant, security charged me just to use the restroom then said he did us a favor. We went through this pay to tinkle fiasco only to then be ignored by the waitstaff & the waitress who saw us seated, walked right by us, then ignored us. After sitting through 10mins of being ignored, we left. They werent having a busy night & most of the tables were empty. I will never step foot in this establishment again & I will warn others not to do so as well.
We held our rehearsal dinner here and the upstairs was the perfect spot! Food was great, staff was amazing to work with!
Neat building and the wood bar feels very original. Food is standard bar fare but was still good. Seemed like plenty of beers on tap and bottle. Service staff was friendly but a little distracted even though it was not a busy night. Will for sure go again.
Delighted wandering in on a lazy afternoon. Great selection of beer. Food was brilliant especially the corned beef and Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. Service friendly. Scottish visitor aptly impressed.
When in Detroit, stop in for a Motor City Ghetto Blaster ale (ask your parents) and a burger or Phili Cheesesteak sammy. The staff made the experience. Super friendly and helpful.
A little bit better than standard bar food. Great old building with an amazing back bar. Staff is attentive and there is a large selection of beer. Happy hour begins at 4:30pm
Fish tacos are great. Great beer selection as well, and the service is good. They always have a couple of pretty exotic beers on tap. Cant find any complaints about this place.
Good experience overall but nothing special really. Typical beer selection, very limited dinner menu, good service. Its just not a stand out, but it would be a solid place to go and grab a beer and a burger.
Top 3 favorite places in Detroit. Awesome dance area upstairs. Good beer and drinks selection. Best Burger in Detroit, Diner Burger. The entire menu amazing, not your average bar food at all
The food was ok, and the drinks excellent. It had a nice charm to the lower floor. Like an upscale midevil tavern vibe. Upstairs was classy dressed back corporate lounge vibes. All in all a good experience.
My boyfriend and I came here before going to Greektown casino and the food was awesome. I got the Paloma cocktail and he had the winter fashion. For food, he got the Firebird sandwich and I have the tomato and pesto flatbread. Both were, as my boyfriend said, bangin haha Everything was really good, even the drinks. Not terribly priced for a downtown place. Definitely keeping it on our list of restaurants to go to downtown. Highly recommend.
Covers are never good. Ours would have been $5 but my buddy knew the doorman.Great dance floor.Impossible to get a drink after 11.Apparently its been getting a little shady at night. Incidents of fights. But security is quick to intervene.
I would highly recommend Firebird for your next event! The team there is incredible, they are fun, down to Earth, and extremely easy to work with. Added bonus, the food is incredible, those chicken wings gave me new life. Thank you to their team for their help, understanding, and natural ability to work with some crazy kids putting together a team building activity!
Bottom line: it was just ok... but honestly it wouldnt be my first (or second) choice next time Im in the area. With so many cool things happening in Detroit, I feel like there are more exciting options than this. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt super exciting. We got the meatloaf, something else I cant remember (you know thats not a good sign) and the weird won ton gyros. The music was also unnecessarily loud (I swear Im not a grandma) so we had to talk-yell during dinner.
Went in for lunch with a group of team members from work. We were greeted quickly and sat down. Our server was quick and efficient. The owner then brought us out some samples of the soup they had just made that day, and it was DELICIOUS! It was a ScallionCcorn Chowder, with fried scallions on top.I had the buffalo chicken wrap, without ranch or onions, and it was nice and spicey, and very flavorful. The chicken was grilled perfectly, and was juicy. My wrap was served with fries, and I loved the thin shoestring cut the Firebird Tarvern has.Definitely come here before you go to a chain!!
This place has had a lot of owners of the years, but since it became Firebird it has become a pretty good destination. In the heart of Greektown, this place is perfect to start your night at before going out. The upstairs has music and dancing and gets pretty live just past midnight.
Have very good service. I had the poutine fries they were pretty good not as good as a good old-fashioned Coney place it was fairly expensive for what we ordered. But it was about the atmosphere
Clean and comfortable I Had the meat loaf. A bit salty but good with the salad and mashed potatoes. Staff is friendly, but without in depth beer knowledge.
The service was terrible. Drinks were WAY over priced; especially for bad service. The waitress had the worst attitude and started an argument with a guest. It was my first experience there, and itll definitely be my last.
Get the Steak Frites and a drink special. Their menu is quite limited and they are perhaps overpriced but the food is good and so is the service, and after a few drinks you dont care about the price any more anyway. They are a good choice for a meal and a drink.
The food is good! And yes, Im seriously going to dock them because of their ranch dressing.Guys, I get it, watering down the ranch is in now...but its gross. If I wanted white water, Id order that... But sincerely taste terrible on my salad or celery or anything that I get... I chose to order ranch....but I got white water.Set yourself apart. Spend a few extra bucks and stopwatering down or serving whatever this is. Its not ranched. Charge $0.50 more do whatever you got to do but if Im in a continue to come here....real ranch is a must.Be part of the change!
Love coming here for a night out! The bartenders are super sweet & the food and drinks are always delicious!
This bar has a very laid-back and relaxed vibe. I enjoyed the specialty cocktails. The bartender even created a special shot after I asked for it! Very accommodating, clean, and chill bar.
Firebird Tavern is in a great location in Greek Town and is easily within walking distance to the ball parks. The food is great with many international beers on tap. Minus 1 star because they do not offer any domestic drafts.
PJ the General Manager made our night while we were out celebrating our friends birthday. Thanks for the repeated bottles of The Dude’s Rug (to go) and the swag bag! We’ll definitely be back when restrictions are lifted!
PLACE IS A DUMP. Smells like stale booze as soon as you walk in. Should have been my first sign to leave. Instead I walked in ordered my meal. It came out cold. I complained they only apologized and never took it back or made it right. Cutlery was dirty. I asked for a new pair, came out dirty again. What a disaster. Walked out with a sore stomach. DO NOT GO HERE!
This place is underrated. They have great food and beer. Beautiful historic interior. LOVE this place. Always friendly good service.
Firebird Tavern is located in greektown which is mere blocks from cheering on your favourite Detroit team. Happy hour is Monday- Friday with drink and food specials. Their drink of the week is a rotating craft cocktail with proceeds going towards Gleaners Community Food Bank. They have many featured drafts to pick from like Founders Rübaeus Nitro, Lake Brothers Lager and Motor City Ghettoblaster. There is also a wine list and long list of featured featured brews. The menus is simple yet the food is delicious. The establishment is rich with history but cozy. There is stained glass and the ceiling is tin. The service is fast and friendly. It was a busy night and the server was very attentive.
Food is much better than your average bar food and they have a nice selection of drinks. The waitstaff is always friendly. One of the better bars downtown for sure.
Firebird hosted our rehearsal dinner for our wedding this weekend and it was perfect. Monica was super easy to work with and the whole event went smoothly. The option to rent out the 2nd floor here is pretty rare for rehearsal dinner options because you get your own bar tender and tons of space for your guests, not to mention flatscreens throughout to post any pictures or videos and connections for music. We also stayed multiple hours after our event was over and had drinks at firebird with our out of town friends. The transition was easy, I didn’t even think about it and we had a great time. I’d recommend firebird tavern to anyone hosting a private event or just catching drinks for the day, great atmosphere.
Bartenders are wonderful, as are the drinks...but the food!!The potatoes are boxed and the gravy tastes like it came from a jar
I had been to Firebird Tavern a couple of times before and had a good experience. Based on that, I recommended a friend and I stop for a drink before a concert at St. Andrews. This trip was different. The female bar tender seemed very busy. Her knowledge of cocktails was horrible and even insulting... When I asked if she could make a good martini, she was too busy and walked away. She then returned to ask if I wanted an appletini and smiled in a smug way. It felt like she was insinuating martinis are a a feminine drink. However, I believe she was either lazy or just didnt know how to make a classic cocktail. I wont recommend Firebird Tavern again.
Very nice place. We enjoyed our visit and will definitely drop by when were in the neighborhood again. We did not eat but the drinks were sufficient.
Great service, good food. Only been here once with a large group, I would rate their food a couple notches above standard bar food. Would return.
Fun place to stop in for a drink if youre visiting the Greektown area. They have their own private Woodford Reserve selection, for all bourbon lovers out there. Its worth a try.
The Firebird Tavern is such an awesome place! PJ, the general manager, and the staff are very welcoming and kind! The food is great and so are the drinks! Check it out 😊
Firebird chicken sandwich was very tasty and filling. Great fries.
Watched Michigan play in the peach bowl game. Great atmosphere, food was excellent and the drinks were even better. The servers were nice and attentive!
The meal and drinks where very good sat at bar and the lady that took care us was nice as well didnt get a name tho. For sure would come back and say check it out!
Steak frits sauce sucks - B
It was my first time going to Firebird this weekend for Youmacon and I got The Firebird. After the first bite, I knew, it was the most perfect sandwich I had ever had.
Had a few drinks there. Good prices. Upstairs had a nice area. Pretty popping place. Good music. Kinda hole in the wall but holds lots of people.
Seriously the best poutine. I would come here just for this, but the staff is pretty awesome too! Always so busy and full of great people. Love this bar!
Just a quick stop before the Stones concert, narrow but deep bar, lots of old decorative wood. If youre into old pubs youll like it.
Food was great and bar tender Tim kept our glasses filled. Great music, very quaint or old pub feel to the Firebird. Great place to have dinner and a date.
Try their Phiily Cheesesteak 😋. Beautiful bar, great bartenders, good food! Going back to try burger looked so good!
Atmosphere and good were great. Our server Stephanie was fantastic. Will definitely be back.
Amazing. Drinks were great. Atmosphere is classic. The best soft pretzel and beer cheese ever
Nice place to grab a drink in greektown. Paid a $5 cover. Didnt eat but food looked good.
Bartenders have attitude and Im not sure they should be allowed a license to serve alcohol as me and my highschool mates frequented this place but now im 21 haha
Went here for my sisters birthday on a party bus last year. Ended up staying here most of the night dancing up stairs. Really fun place with good drinks!
Fun place for either a casual night out for drinks on the first floor or a wild night out dancing and clubbing upstairs. In the heart of greektown, you can easily bar hop over to the other many bars in Greektown.
The food is consistently good, love love love the bahn mi bowl and meatloaf (in season). Service is always good and knowledgable. Cant go wrong!
Great place for pre-game fun for drink or delicious food.
Cozy, good food in my experience. Not overly the top in any way. Definitely a good place to stop in before a Tigers game or when youre looking for a more relaxed atmosphere.
