Opera is one of the worst clubs in DC. All these reviews are accurate in terms of their customer service. I went there almost two weeks ago and they overcharged me. Despite multiple emails, and even going back IN PERSON to talk to someone, they lied to my face saying they would follow up. I even called and texted the phone number I was given and still have not gotten a response. They literally dont care because they got more money. I will never spend money anywhere that treats people this way. The table manager I talked to had the most nonchalant, careless attitude and was approaching the conversation as if I was lying. Wasnt apologetic and definitely didnt offer anything to resolve the situation. And clearly hasnt verified anything because I havent received any responses. I will never patron this club again.
Security guard inside insisted he sees my camera footage. He had zero rights to do that yet I let him see my recording. He has zero awareness about rights also. Short black guy with tiny dread locks … completely unacceptable! Poor guy needs a lot of training and education. The irony of telling someone they cant record inside a club while theres a forest of hands with phones recording is strong! Fortunately the women behind the bar provided professional service and saved the night!
I had a great time. The music was good, the drinks were good and strong enough without being gasoline! The only issue I had was that the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest.
All caucasian college kids and the venue as small. The music was poor - nothing trendy or capable of even head bobbing to. Spend your time elsewhere unless you’re a frat college kid
This place is trash, I reserved a table through the manager Ardy, sent my deposit of $195 to his cash app, upon arrival my card was taken before we even got to sit down, an additional $650 was charged to my card, half way through the night we were forced to leave so someone else could have the table. and manager refused to give any of the money back. I will never go there again I hope that place burns down
Decided to go here for my 21st birthday. Host (I wont disclose name unless needed) dropped my credit card on the ground before even seating me to my table. Had a friend pick it up for me later for me to find out. Table was taken by another party and security and employees did nothing about it. I am pretty sure when you reserve a table and buy 3 bottles, the table is yours the whole night. Lastly, I got overcharged 50 dollars after everything. It was not an added tip (which is generally 17-20%). $50 of $715 is not even 7%, so check your bill and bank accounts. I expected much better, especially when buying 3 bottles (over $700) and bringing 30+ people to their business. Emailed multiple times to resolve this, but no response. Last person I called hung up on me (I wont disclose name unless needed). Youre better off going somewhere else to have a good time.It was so bad that I felt I had to leave a review, this happens to be my first one.
I was surprised when first walking in how small this place is. The lights and decor are nice.. but thats where it ends. I approached bar for a drink and 3 bartenders just stood there, it was not busy. Finally one asked if I wanted a drink. The entire area for tables is roped off, so unless you have table service you are treated like second class. No where to sit. The tables surround the dance floor so forget dancing unless youre doing it directly in front of DJ both or bar. The bathroom is HORRIBLE. Only 2 of 4 toilets working. Poor lighting. Crowded. Paint chipping. A lady sitting on an old folding chair to take tips for handing your a Paper towel, showing you to open stall (theres only 2 options) , and keeping it tidy. With the place looking fancy from the outside and lighting effects inside you would think the bathroom would be posh. Hell no. I didnt even WANT to sit in those stalls. The staff lacked any type of enthusiasm. It was an awful experience and Ill never return.
Very nicely decorated and clean place. Bouncers respect your dress style and protect you. This is a place to wear reveling dresses and ensure that you will not be hassled by others. Mostly Afro-American crowd. Music and staff is excellent. Drinks are between $10 to $14 each and by bottle is cheaper. But your protection and respect is guaranteed. No hassle place.
I want to give this place a five star, but I cant. The bartenders and manager are excellent. The bartenders serve fast, efficient and tasty drinks. The manager is quick to solve any problems. The staff at the door are dismissive, rude and ignorant. There are times when I couldnt get in because of them. Contact the manager directly on Facebook. This tends to alleviate problems. You may want to consider going somewhere else, if you rely on the use of a wheelchair, though. The staff at the front door will tell you they forgot he key to the elevator or the person that has it isnt there, despite the fact that the manager can get you in. The staff at the door make me feel discriminated against. If you use a wheelchair, you may just want to go, to see what I mean. It is not professional at all. I never see anyone that uses a wheelchair going there If you do manage to make it inside, youll have an exceptional time.
They were hospitable. Had my birthday party there and the whole stuff, from the manager to the security to the servers to the hosts.. everyone was super nice. The music was okay but again music is subjective. I liked most of the songs but at some moments the whole club died down cause the songs werent hitting. They had a girl dancing in the middle of the floor which seemed awkward, Im not sure what that was about but the guys seemed to love it sooooo... I had a great experience.
The bouncers and the security staff are very rude and disrespectful. The bartenders are always pleasant and make good drinks but the security needs to be FIRED. They are sexist and they love to pick and choose who they want to allow in the club and who will have to pay a cover fee. It makes you not want to come back at all. I had Complimentary admission, was there way before 11, and they still charged me 20.00 smh
There was WAY TOO MUCH smoke in there. I felt like I could barely breathe and I smelled like an ashtray when I left. The drinks were expensive. I was even charged an arm and a leg for a cup of WATER. The bar and dance floor looked updated but everything else looked worn out. The music was decent. I will not be coming back here, not my type of venue.
Awesome DC venue! They book the best DJs in the city, I always have a so much fun with my friends. Security is professional and thorough, and all of the bartenders and cocktail waitresses are amazing. They all make sure everyone is taken care of and has a good time. If youre looking for a party, this is the place to be!
Unlike any other club in DC... dope vibes, cool set up, amazing lights, always playing the best music. The staff is very friendly, the service is great, and the bartenders are always so nice! Definitely will continue to party here every weekend
Fun place the music selection is a nice mix of hip hop r&b Afro beats and a bit Latin but def they feel the audience .. bathroom ls are typical for the club… we had a section and it was cool
Never visit this place, they have terrible music their drinks are expensive and the club never gets live even if you order bottle service. The club is the bottom level club and not worth a cover at any point in the day and Ive had plenty of VIP seating and bottle service in this club that I didnt pay for. Please choose something that better benefits you but if youre are paying the standard price for bottle service or if youre ever paying an entry fee for this club you must look elsewhere, its a waste of money and you will end up leaving and going elsewhere or not enjoying your time. There is a short light skin ugly man there who gave me a hard time because I hopped over a rope of a non existent line. Anyways, I have as do friends Inside and we had spoken to someone and were planning on buying a few tables, but he treated me so horribly for literally no reason (we decided to go elsewhere). They lost outn thousands of dollars and NFL player clients because a short chubby light skin guy wants to feel like he has power and he was never disrespected. Strange times.
My friend reserved 5 tickets last night for the open bar. We were turned away at the door because after being told each person had to have their own ticket in their phone. The minimum quantity of tickets to obtain was 10 and it was never mentioned they had to be acquired separately Plus, the guard was having a hard time scanning the Eventbrite code too.... tried to charge a cover., saying hell work something out. Probably wont be back to due the confusion.
Has a dance floor but more of a lounge and catered to table service. Contemporary dance club. Plays hip hop music. Interior was very nice and appears to be recently renovated. Crowd was on the younger side. Suited for 35 and under
The bartenders are some of the friendliest aroundy and service is quick. Prices, prices, prices. You do have to pay for water ($4/bottle not from the dispenser--I was not given the option. Ridiculous, everywhere else you get it for free). Water is not a commodity, but a natural resource! The drinks are still expensive, but not the most expensive in DC and they are a little bit bigger than you would get anywhere else. Coat check: I felt like was a little expensive ($4 per item).
A private party was held here...very nice ambiance. The rail drinks for 2 people costs 29.00 which 4.00 includes the tip which is automatic added in your bill. Not impressed with that.
Went here on Saturday and it was sooo packed you couldn’t even see the lay out of the venue! And it was $40 per person for a cover charge!!! I have been to WAY better clubs in Vegas & Miami and never paid that for a cover in my life! Not worth it!
Opera is always a great time! The venue is unlike any other in DC. The lighting and sound system really gives it a Vegas club feel. I love partying here and definitely recommend for any occasion.
Needs upgrading. Prices outrageous. I was quoted $1000 for a table on a random Saturday night . No disposable cups, only chipped, scratched platics. 😒. Bar maids were rude. Good music and security was cool.
In the line my friends and I were groped, shoved and literally could not breathe. There was no room at all to the point of being unable to lift your hands from your sides, and Im not claustrophobic. I personally saw at least five people having panic attacks. We didnt even get into the club, but shoved out of the line by people in it. Not worth it and the bouncers who were everywhere were no help.
I got a table here about 3years ago & paid over $800. The bouncer came to kick us out of the section because we wasn’t keeping bottles coming. I would never support this club again.
Kind of an open secret. Good and safe hip hop nights. Excellent proximity to Five Guys thats open late. One of those places you go a few times and they remember you and you remember their names.Im not usually a fan of underground (basement) venues, but I kinda like this one.
Had a great time here!! Even though they lied on the open bar and false advertisement!!! They had some Beautiful Women in this place!!! I Mean!! Beautiful Fine Great Looking Women!!! I would definitely pay my money any day to go to this place!! SALUTE!!!
As a regular at Opera, I have to say it is one of my favorite places to go in D.C to drink and hang out with friends. Depending on the night of the week and how we are feeling, when we feel like being in the club environment, this is our place of choice. The staff is nice and makes sure we are taken care of. The girls are gorgeous to look at, which can actually make a difference. Ive never had any issues at Opera and Ive never left dissatisfied with my experience.
I truly enjoy this venue if im looking for a great night, but the sections are small. People are constantly blocking walkways and the service is okay. Ive had many great nights though. Security is great at the door though!!
I am only giving this place a 2 because the customer service was fantastic. The people were very polite and the atmosphere was incredible. Everyone was just having a good time. The big problem was the music. There was absolutely NO hip hop and R&B. How am I suppose to two step to electronic music? I am not sure thats what the music is called but i couldnt get jiggy with that *. I left and went to The Park.
Love the interior design. Service is great. Hottest and friendliest cocktail waitresses and bartenders. My favorite place to go mingle on weekends for great house music and on the weekdays for great hip hop!
Opera ultra lounge is a unique nightclub experience unlike others. amazing sound system and phenomenal djs. every night they are open has a different theme and a different crowd making it very unlikely to tire of this place. creative management and well thought out events keep you coming back. the personalized attention by the owners and extremely friendly staff make you feel right at home in this classy and cutting edge venue. fun.
Been to Opera Ultra Lounge several times and have had a great time each time. From the moment you get to those double glass doors and are greeted by the staff, they are very courteous and extremely polite. And once you walk down those stairs to the main floor, it is a field day for the senses. From the amazing sound system to the intricate decor, the atmosphere and vibe is second to none in comparison to the DC night life. The drinks are very reasonably priced. The cocktail waitresses and bartenders are very friendly and definitely quite aesthetically pleasing to the eyes just like the decor. And can not state enough how great the vibe and music is there on a consistent basis. Even though the lounge is full of beautiful people in beautiful attire, I never get the sense of it being too over the top or being too extravagant for my taste. It has that great balance of elegance and chique with comfort and class. It is by far my favorite spot to go when I want o enjoy the DC nitelife.
This club was so disorganized and in how they handle their reservations and tables. They asked for $150 at the door even though a table had been reserved and paid for. They essentially ruined a night of celebration. If anyone is trying to have a group putting, I would NOT recommend this place. Save your money and time and spend it where customers are prioritized!
Service is terrible. Bouncers are rude. Hookah is electronic. I will never come here by choice, just when invited. I only gave it two stars because the inside looks nice.
Is a cool place to come to and hang out. Can get pretty crowded on the weekends. Also when its crowded its almost hard to get through the crowd. I like the Added Touch of the dancers on the tables and the eye candy bringing your drinks.
Cover fee hikes at random - person in front of you could get in for $20 but they could charge you $40 just because they feel like it.Bartenders tip themselves - big red flagThere seems to be no accountability here, then again D.C. nightlife is a beggars-cant-be-choosers type of deal anyway.
Vegas styled decor, urban night club. People start coming around midnight, good btl options and table prices. Winter there is a coat check, bathrooms have a valet. Dress is casual, trendy, clean. Theyre very versatile for private events on closed days or prior to standard operating hours!
I had five RSVPs for complimentary admission through eventbrite (the eventbrite page allowed you to get multiple at once) but the bouncer said all the tickets had to be under each persons name. Never heard that before, especially since when I got the tickets there wasnt an option to put each one under a different name, although I do admit some places do do that. Ive been to opera a few times before, had tickets the same way and never had this problem but the bouncer tried to make 4 of us pay $10 each and only let one person use the tickets. Eventually the bouncer caved and let us all in for free but not because he admitted he was being ridiculous-- it was because the club was almost empty and we called a Lyft to go elsewhere. Theres too many places in DC to go to on a Friday night for me to deal with nonsense like this again
Music was so bad. genuinely not a fun place at all
Dont waste your time going here. My girls and I signed up online to gain free admission before 11:30. When we arrived, it was around 11:15, and before we had even said anything, the bouncers demeanor was uninviting. We approached to the bouncer (because there was no one in the line when we got there), and he said the cover was $20. We told him we signed up on the guest list and showed him the emails we had received from Opera. He gave us slack. He said we didnt have the right email, and that only two girls in our party of six had the right email. He said that those girls could go in, but the rest of us had to pay. I had three emails sent to me from Opera after signing up and he said they were all insufficient. WHAT?! After about 10 minutes of standing outside, a manager or someone with higher authority, came out and said that what we had was actually ok, and that we could go in. We all walked in together and absolutely NO ONE was there! No patrons were there, only people who worked for Opera were in that place. Needless to say, we only stayed about 10 mins after complaining to a manager about how we were treated. They had no interest in accommodating us. We walked out and went to their competitor a block away.
Nice setup with just a big enough dance floor. I usually go on Friday nights. If you RSVP through eventbrite it includes free entry before 11 and a free Hennessy open bar.
Worst club I’ve ever gone to. Rude security and rude employees. I had two tickets for my girl and I, security guard told us that we had to have our own ticket like in what type of sense would I have two tickets for myself? Overall just a first time bad experience
Went on a Saturday night. There were at least 8 security guards there HOWEVER the placed reeked of marijuana. If you don’t like the smell of marijuana, you should stay away from this place.
Downstairs club venue. Drink prices are normal DC prices...expensive. No LTE service down here for any carrier...you need to step outside to get access to your phone. Circular layout with the bar aligning the outside.
The staff are the best thing about this place. We had a very fun night. They might need to renew the furniture and do some renovations though, everything was worn down.
I went on a Sunday night. Its was jus a different vibe.. The club was visually great, DJ was great but the few people there wouldnt dance by 11pm.
It was overcrowded when I visited this club, but given that it was a Friday night (and apparently a celebrity showed up) that could be expected. The music was good and the drinks were strong.
I had such a great time here! Was was amazing, the crowd was chill, everybody was just vibing out having a good time. Staff members were extremely cool
I like it. I actually work there but. And Im not rating it 5 star because I work there, but the staff is all friendly and good at wat they do. Its alcohol, and music wat more can I say its a club
No one dances anymore🤷🏿. From out of town I was over dressed for the price to get in. But dj and security was tight . that I loved but its a kids club
Security was chill af and very professional I wandered around sometimes I was not supposed to be in a area I was just redirectedsafe place to go for sure the club was aight but it could be better only because it was not as fun to go solo as other clubs are only because most the entire area you are in is tables which makes sense from a business standpointalso fire Long Island ice teas the bartenders were nice polite and fastOverallExceptional staff club is decent but not good to go solo in my opinion I’d prefer a different venue since this entire place is kind of closed off to you (Tables)Sincerely-Deez Nutz
The team at Opera Ultra Lounge are pillars of the nightlife community in Washington, DC. I have had the privilege of djing at Opera since its opening in August 2011. Armed with a Funktion One sound system, which you will find nowhere else in the city, your experience at Opera will be unmatched. The lighting, design, and general ambiance of this Ultra lounge are stunning. If you’re in DC and want a night out on the town, this is the place to be. I would not hesitate to recommend Opera Ultra Lounge to any of my friends, colleagues or family.
Didn’t honor tickets bought. Security and management is full of bots.
I had a great time!! Music was good, drinks were good (a little pricey), and atmosphere was good. No drama... great night!!
Awesome place with state of the art lights which set the mood just right. Drinks are nice too & the bar is filled with eye candy 😍
Nice night club, but was only one level. Table area was really nice, but was away from the dance floor. Cool place to party.
Nice club, dj kept the party going, sexy bartender outfits, but I couldnt order a Sidecar or a Manhattan drink due to lack of ingredients.
Great music but a small venue. The bar charges and automatic $2 tip for each drink that you buy.
These people are extremely disgusting, their attitudes arent welcoming. they are rude and nasty and I dont recommend this place at all!!!!!!!!!
It was a great place with a lot of security!! The only thing is you pay a lot for a table that doesnt give you a lot of room!!!
The worst pub in DC, it is blacks pub. Only for immigrants they charge 20$ entry. Rude security and mangers. No crowd at all.... it is waste of time.
I always have a great time at Opera Ultra Lounge. Great friendly staff, kickass sound system and beautiful crowd. A must see in the Washington, DC nightlife scene.
The staff was nice, provided nice drinks and music. Everyone had a nice time so that is the basis of my 5 star review.
Great place with amazing design. Music is also awesome. Drinks are good, no cheating! Recommend.
Had a great time here. On point DJ, place was packed when I went on thursday. Good lookin crowd
To be honest not a bad place however the bartender lost my debit card and that was super upsetting because I saw her charge me and all of a sudden it was lost when she gave me the receipt to sign.
The worst pub in DC, it is a racist pub. Security is very rude. 20$ entry only for immigrants. There was no crowd at all, it is a blacks pub.
Amazing place! The service, hosts, and atmosphere come together in a very complimentry fashion. Definitely recommend this place.
First time partying in DC this place is amazing I definitely recommend for a great night out
This place was really nice and I enjoyed myself. Bartenders was rude and the DJ wasn’t the best.
Balkan festival ,I had a good time.
Its been many names but, its a nice cozy spot tucked away on the side of 5 Guys.
Very small club... I needed to charge my phone they made me walk to five guys... Once inside like I said very small.. Drinks over priced...if you get a table you will be partying with people you dont know because the place is so small...
Great lounge with an amazing sound system if your in Washington DC you have to check it out
Pricy cover for the size of the club, lights are cool
Ok experience, pretty empty on a holiday weekend. Easy to get in and lacking energy inside.
The Decor and music were on point. The crowd and service left something to be desired.
Beautiful women cool staff. Very cozy and most people are sociable.
I cant imagine a worse place to spend a night at.
Everything is good except the hookah, its electronic.
Too much SMOKE!!!!! but its a great vibe good music and no fights
Nice ambiance and great cocktails in an excellent location (Wharf)
Pretentious, racist, zero value/customer service for the money they demand you pay... I hope it goes out of business. It should have, long time ago.
Always a movie when we go ! Free entry with tickets ! Open bar starts it off right !
Park Next door has better management, security & proffesional consistency.
Nice entertainment spot to enjoy drinks ate a little expensive
20$ and too crowded there are better Thursday night options
Loved it! Nice atmosphere. Vip dope.
People were smoking inside, it was crowded, and the music wasnt good
Great vibe chill relax good drinks
Nice place, lights are beautiful, drinks excellent
Fun time here! Good drinks too!

Excellent place, the only thing is that if you forgot something, consider it lost, since the staff does not care, I left my credit card and they gave it to me as lost.
Excellent
