This is the most inclusive, fun, and just all around great places to go. I’ve been a couple times before with friends and had a blast so I went again last night and had so much fun. Everyone who works there is so kind. The establishment is clean and well kept. And I love that if you get too overwhelmed in one area you always have 2 more you can choose from. I have high anxiety and I often go in between rooms. The last time I was there I ended up having to order an angel shot (iykyk) and the bar tender as well as security acted extremely quick and efficiently. I even felt safe enough to stay the rest of the night and had no issues with coming back. This is one place I can say that I feel safe drinking a few drinks and not having to worry about anything. And that’s hard to find now. If you go you most definitely won’t be disappointed!
The performers were pretty cool but we went to Play to dance on the floor - found it COMPLETELY dead on a Friday night. We were the only people dancing. Paid a non-refundable $15 (cash-only) cover and felt like we paid way too much for a dead party.
I absolutely love club play, I’ve been coming since I was 19 years old. The show is something magical. But for the past few years I’ve watched (African American) performers come and go. I acknowledged and have gotten several reasons. But it makes no sense. This past weekend I paid for a vip seating two reserved tables for family and friends. And I was sad because I was told before the first show that Diana Rae is no longer preforming. One of the most talented people with the biggest heart and open mind. She was popular to my the African American community of preforming at her best in the drag show at play. Countless nights waiting on her performance to give her $100+ in ones. It was very sad but also confusing. I immediately left I didn’t even want my reservation. I love the show absolutely but to see my people of color makes it even better. Speaking to other performers they were very upset she was fired as well and said “they needed a reason and when they had one they let her go” smh. It hurt to hear. So I no longer will be going back to club play.
Ben in the front lounge is the best bartender ever love everyone working there always treated so well!!!!david the bartender is nice AND beautiful he was so great to my friends and just lovely! will look for him again to do my tab!
Strictly gay guy, I gained citizenship and have lived in Louisville for the past three years. Went there with boyfriend of two years as it’s a known gay bar in town and we wanted to watch the drag show. An hour and a half in was brought aside by bouncers saying I had been inappropriate to girls, even though I hadn’t so much as spoken to a woman that night, I am gay and was with my boyfriend dancing and drinking the whole time. Ended up kicked out of the bar. Maybe they got the wrong guy but still unacceptable situation. Was not blacklisted but will never go back there because this ruined our night. Being a brown man from the far east I think this was the racism the talk about in America.
My friends and I were sitting outside minding our business when a worker walked up to us and accused one of us of having a taser. The worker asked to look in our bags and we obviously complied, because no one had a taser. When the worker ended up finding nothing, instead of apologizing for accusing us, they doubled down and stated, “we have cameras so when I go back and look and see that one of you guys have a taser, I’m going to come back and kick all of you guys out.” We waited and waited to be kicked out for this taser he allegedly saw, and never saw the worker again. I expected for the worker to eventually swallow his pride and come out and apologize and that never happened. Nonetheless the owner apologized to us and let us know that said worker would be reprimanded for their inappropriate behavior. Besides this experience I have had nothing but a blast at this dance bar as it is my favorite place in Louisville. I appreciate the manager for handling this occurrence with professionalism.
Always a great time! Clean bar friendly workers and a Great Show! They dont serve food there.
This place is the bees knees! Highly recommend and the queens are fierce boots! The bartenders are incredibly friendly and the dance floor will make you want to dance all night long! I will be coming back!
So much fun! My best friend and I went to Louisville to celebrate our 50th birthdays together at the end of September. I found out that Lady Camden and Detox were going to be there that weekend so we got meet and greet tickets. Im a cis, straight woman and had never been to a club like this so had no point of reference for what to expect. We got a booth in the back as all the tables were reserved but were quickly invited to sit at a table with a really sweet couple since it was just two of us. Paul seemed like a regular there and filled us in on what its like and other shows and we got to know him and Alex a bit. Everyone from the bouncers to bartenders to the ladies performing, were wonderful. It was fantastic to meet the special guests but all the performers were amazing. They looked gorgeous and loved how personable and interactive they were with guests. Wish I lived closer so I could go more often!
As a first timer, I was excited to enjoy a safe space in the only lgbt establishment that allows 18+. I thoroughly enjoyed the performers and most of the staff were very nice, except for one security guard, Daniel. When I left around 1:15 am and I, along with a family member were accused of taking off wristbands that we had no knowledge off. If the establishment reads this they should check the cameras after 11 pm and before 1:20 am (12/23/2023). When we first entered an older relative asked if there was a different cover fee for anyone underaged and was told it was the same $15. The staff that checked our ids and asked if it was our first time never let us know about the wristbands. Daniel said that he specifically put the bands on us but we didn’t even recognize him. We even went to the entrance security guard because he was the one that we had seen before. I understand if it was a mistake but that doesn’t excuse the uncalled rude behavior towards us from the beginning. I had thought of coming again with my friends but that attitude and service left me a very bad taste.
One of Louisville’s best kept secrets for a great night out.Fun performances, friendly staff, large clean venue & typically an awesome crowd.I’ve always had a great time here.
Everyone was super nice and the drinks were all fantastic. When they say Play is a no judgement zone, they mean it. It was a $15 cover to get in on Saturday. I was told thats the usual cover, while its $20 for special events or guests, which are usually on Fridays. (Im not complaining about the cost, just couldnt find the cover listed anywhere.) We really enjoyed the drag show and Diana was the highlight. We didnt reserve a table or a booth, but if you want a good view of the show - or the proximity to easily tip the performers - youll want to reserve space.I just personally wish the music wasnt quite so loud. Im glad I remembered to bring concert ear plugs, and recommend ear plugs to others for both the show and the dance floor.
Magical bday night out!! We had a booth and Amanda was attentive and adorable to boot! Daniel/Davita ensured our safety and played EXCELLENT Host! Lastly, Leah Halston made DAMN sure I had a good time with her usual and side splitting antics and jokes. Thank yall for EVERYTHING you are and do. Me and my guests had the best time. See yall in January! -❤️- Amanda
I started going here when I was 18. I’m 25 now and I have to give so much credit and love to the staff and performers for making me feel safe and included. I found my community. It’s a breath of fresh air every time we come here. The performers are extremely talented and so kind. That goes for all the staff. You feel truly safe here. This place never disappoints. I want to say thank you for being a place that makes me and my partner feel safe, valued and loved. You can be yourself here and have the time of your life. This place is more than a show or a bar. You are making a difference in peoples lives, including mine. Thank you!
I LOVE Play & have enjoyed going here for years!!!! From a great show to a fun dance floor, you can’t go wrong by stopping by! They always have performers that are relevant & I am excited to see. With today’s political climate & looming hate, it’s more important than ever that we support the drag queens that show us love & a good time! I will always look to Play for the best drag in louisville!!!
Would have been nice to be able to sit down in the theater room. Every seat does not have to be reserved. Dilutes the whole reason people splurge for VIP seats. But when everything is reserved it just becomes stupid to have to pay more to sit down.
Beware of car thieves & car break ins. It’s been 4 weeks since cars have been broken into back to back and our finally did. Police are sometimes here and still nothing changes. Felt very unsafe at night with no cameras in the parking lot so just be careful and vigilant of where you park.
One of the only clubs I have heard of that allows 18+ but if you are under 21 they mark your hands with an X to show you cant get alcohol. I went on thursday got to see a couple of Drag Queens perform. The Dance floor was closed but I am going again on saturday so I can dance !!! I love love love this place and would recommend going if it is your first time going to a club! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🩶🖤🤍
The shows and music are top tier. As a community, we are so glad that Play is still around.
If you want to see a drag show, this is the place to go! Definitely some of the best drag in the country. The music can be a bit loud at times (especially the opening song). So I’d recommend bringing earplugs. On this particular night, Celesta was our VIP server. She provided great service throughout the night. However, I was a bit upset when I got our tab. Drinks at this bar can be a bit on the pricey side, but getting a tab with premium drinks on it rather than well drinks was a bit shocking. It would’ve been nice to know that the default wasn’t well liquor. Maybe this was because we were in the VIP booth?? I would’ve appreciated something like, “Is Tito’s okay?” We expect to spend a bit when we come, but not THAT much. Overall, it was a great night. Bring your clack fan girls because it does get warm (and it adds to the fun)!
We had family in from Washington State. Its been 20 years since Ive been to this spot (when it was Connections). Three generations from 70 years old to 18 years old and we all had an absolutely wonderful time. The Queens of Louisville rule. It was the highlight of my familys visit, and Im so glad we came.
I absolutely LOVE attending anytime i get the chance! the entire staff from the entrance, to the dj , to the queens make the experience even more enjoyable! the queens are so nice and sweet and always put on a good performance everytime! the staff at the entrance are always so nice and welcoming! the dj’s always play the best music on the dance floor and for the queens! i love it so much and will definitely keep coming ❤️
Had a fun time here watching a show with my boyfriend. Staff was nice and efficient and working through the lines even when the club was packed.
Play Louisville in Louisville Kentucky. This is an amazing night club for everyone. Not just for the LGBTQIA+ community. They welcome everyone with open arms and they just want to see everyone have a good time. This night club is for 18 years and older. You must be 21 years old to drink.Play Louisville is in the nulu neighborhood near downtown. There is free parking to the night club. As you enter, you do have to pay a cover fee. Depends on the night or event, the cover fee can be $5-$20 per person. It’s cash only! They do have an atm machine available near the front door. After you pay the cover fee, they will give you a wrist band. One will be for 18 through 20 years old and the other wristbands for 21 and over. After you put the wristband on. You have two options, you can go left which the theater for drag queens or right which is the dance floor for the club area. Each room has a bar inside so you don’t have to go far to get a drink. They also have another room on the left that looks like a chill room (relax room) and patio for smoking. That room also have a bar too. They do have two locations for bathrooms. One in the theater and the other in the chill room. It’s really easy to navigate through the building since it’s a complete cycle. The theater is the best part about play Louisville in my opinion. They have booths on each side of the stage and tables all around floor. The bar is in front of the stage. Like literally, this is the best club for a drag show. I have been to so many other clubs that performs drag and Play Louisville hit this setup out the park. I have been to NYC clubs, Miami clubs, LA clubs etc. but Play Louisville is the best for any drag show out there! You do have to pay for the booths and you can reserve the tables which they are reserved and taken on busy nights and major events but the room is so big that standing up isn’t a problem. On Saturday’s, the room does get full just a FYI but still big enough without feeling you need to leave the room. All the drag performers are amazing and very talented. If you want to have a good time. I highly coming here for the drag show! The nightclub is just like any other nightclub in my opinion. You have the Dj, lights, drinks, people dancing. So to me it’s just a nightclub. On Sundays, they do have LatinoNight I believe in the night club. Just to warn you, when you are dancing. You shoes will get sticky. People drops their drinks all the time on the floor. The employees are wonderful. I never have any issue with them at all. The owner also goes there sometimes during busy days. It’s nice to see someone enjoy what they do with their business. The place is clean beside when people drop their drinks but that’s just normal for people getting drunk. The bathroom can get bad during busy hours of the night. Like I said in my previous comment. It’s drunk people. What can you do. Make sure to visit the best club all around! I highly recommend this amazing club!Overall 5/5 👍🏾
Had a blast here. Drag shows are so funny! Not too crowded, place is clean. Outside smoking area smelled like garbage!! Hope they fixed that.
If you are in Louisville and want to have the best time ever Play is where you need to go! I planned my best friends bachelorette party and working with Play was such a pleasure! They were quick to respond when I had a question prior to our weekend in Louisville. We rented a booth and did bottle service. When we got there our waitress apologized to us indicating that they were short staffed, but honestly I would have never noticed! The service while there was great! The Queens were absolutely fabulous! The crowd engagement made the night so much fun! I will for sure be back!
I’ve been coming here for months and tonight I got kicked out for being underaged and I’m about to turn 23 in 4 weeks. The bouncer didn’t even let me show my ID which I showed at the door an hour prior. I love this place m, the shows are great and bartenders are so nice but I just don’t know what the confusion was tonight. It was so unkind.
First time stopping by, I went to the website to see if they were opened first. They were. I thought the cover was a little high but rolled with it. The show was fantastic! The talent and beauty is spectacular. The theatre is set up very nice. We were told not to go to the bar to order a drink, to wait. I raised my hand and asked two bartenders while sitting and no one got me a drink after 2.5hrs. when I did finally get a drink they were out of the ingredients, it was mostly sprint, and no liquor. I ordered a whiskey neat splash of coke . Shrugging. Could not get anyones attention to remake it. Definitely, was not consistent service.
Visiting IN & KY all the way from western NY and this bar did not disappoint. The haute mess Wednesday show was so fun, the queens & kings had so much energy. I also loved how they interacted with the audience. The only part I wasn’t 100% happy with was the price for drinks. I don’t think $18 is reasonable ar all. the performer, Andre was my favorite.
Play is a great time. Period. If you don’t have fun there, it’s your own fault. The staff is super friendly. The drag show never fails to entertain. Stage/lighting is on point. The queens are flawless. And let’s not forget about the dance floor. The DJ & atmosphere is so much fun. And when I need a break & don’t feel like dancing, the people watching is on point. I love watching everyone having a great time dancing together. Most of all, I love the crowd at Play. It’s a place where everyone can be themselves without judgement. I’ve met so many amazing people there. Love this place.
First time and it won’t be my last time!!! Had way to much unexpected fun 🤩
Play is an INCREDIBLE place to be on a Saturday night!Staff is incredibly friendly, the shows are amazing.Great music from SleepyT on the dance floor!10/10 you must go!
Last night was my first time @ Play, and I absolutely loved it! The staff, from the front door, to the servers, bartenders and beautiful women on stage, everyone was so amazing! They were all so welcoming to us newcomers! Every set was awesome! So much talent in that place, its ridiculous! We will definitely be coming back!
I had the best time at Play!! I was on a solo trip in Louisville and am so glad I decided to go. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves fun, great music, good drinks, dancing and most of all an amazing show! This is a must if you are in Louisville. I can’t wait to go back. And a shout out to Travis because he was the best!
7 friends and I traveled from Greenfield indiana to see a good show and none of us were disappointed. This place was very clean and the staff was great. I will definitely be going back and hopefully with more friends. We were just a little upset that didnt have food. Would be nice to get some food trucks to come by.🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Great place for fun nightlife. The drag show, dance floor, and lounge are the perfect trifecta for a fun night. All the staff are helpful and professional, making sure that everyone is having fun and being safe. There is a $10 cover most nights, but the quality of the experience is well worth it. The venue is clean and beautifully decorated. If youve never been to Play and are reading reviews to figure out if you should try it out, be adventurous and give it a go! This was my first drag show experience; I had no idea what to expect, but the show here blew me away!
I love coming here for the shows. It is difficult for me to feel comfortable at most bars and party environments but I always feel welcome here and always have a great time. Love people watching and the drag queens. Thank you.
This is an amazing venue with so much potential. I have a fun time here every time I go. The show does not compete with the old Connection, but it’s fun.
We did not get to see the show due to confusion on the Facebook event. Play has been very kind in resolving the issue. We had a great time while we were there. The drinks were great and the performance we did get to see was so entertaining. Remember to tip your bartenders and performers!
Don’t clock in if you don’t wanna work your shift, rude as ish. I could get banned if I rip my wristband off but yet I was trying to leave, I got stopped trying to get out and get my ID and my uber left because “let everybody in before they go out”, okay my uber didn’t understand that because it reached the 5 min threshold, thanks Play lol
Great New place for people to dance, watch drag shows. I think the cover charge & drinks were very over priced. And it is a very programmable . There is not much interaction between staff and customers. It needs personality. It needs more of a homey disposition.
Very bitter and unprofessional staff, never returned my call or email. Music is very repetitive and drinks are very overpriced compared to other places in town. They need to invest in a card reader for their EXPENSIVE cover (as cash is becoming an outdated form of currency) and also post their cover fee on their website for easier accessibility instead of tricking you with an ATM fee at the door.
Full transparency, PLAY Louisville exceeded ALL of my expectations, and then some. We love leftovers. Our celebration was for our girl COURTNEY. She’s tying the knot in 2023. We love tied knots. Oop, got your children. Oop, no you don’t. ANYWAY, our server/bartender CELESTA, was a FIVE STAR employee. For someone who has a name that’s related to the word, “celestial,” she was out of this world, amazing, exceeded all of the stars, goodbye Milky Way because you’re irrelevant. Celesta was absolutely amazing and she’s the reason why someone would have an amazing experience. Drinks were flowing, our BAC was constantly higher than my personal college GPA, and she was so friendly. This experience was better than my visits at Chick-fil-A. We will most definitely be back in 2023.
I was looking forward to supporting a local gay bar in Louisville. I went to medical school in Louisville graduating 1999 and I’m in town for a conference. None of the bars from that time remain. The bar was empty and they requested a cover. When I complained I was immediately and directly told by a small, very small person with a Brittney Spears like microphone that “ I can go”. And so I did.
On the evening that my dearest friend suggested we finish off the night at PLAY, my expectations were modestly low. Having spent most of our time at 4th street live, the night was kind of—meh. Upon arriving at PLAY, I immediately noticed the fashion! If you’re like me and try on 5-6 outfits because you’re not sure what to wear, then I would strongly suggest having a stylist or a fashion forward friend give your outfit a nod before you go. Upon entering, I realized the size of the club and that they put this space to good use! Separate dance halls with different flavors of music kept the vibe going as we navigated to our destination...yes, the drag show! Wow! I was impressed by the artistry, talent and creativity. It’s apparent when an artist puts a lot of hard work, dedication and excitement into their routine. So professional and such great performances! The outdoor area was another wonderful surprise. It was clean, even for smokers and also spacious. The alcoholic beverages were fairly priced. The universal restrooms were being cleaned routinely. Hey, we had a ball! I should add that ALL people are welcome there. It’s a really great club and A LOT closer than Vegas👍🏼
Wonderful shows. Wonderful cast. A nice venue. Drinks are great as well. Only negative draw back is its more of a standing room and limited seating but that isnt enough to give it a complete downgrade.
Itd be beneficial to train the girl who was doing wristbands at 7:55 pm on Sat night April 30 prior to Rocky Horror Picture Show to have some decorum on how to talk to people and learn a little about good manners and courteous custumor service. To have her as the first impression upon entering is not good for business. Luckily, i have frequented enough to know this is not the norm. Your staff is, as a whole, delightful. As an upper management emploee, at a service industry related venue, Id personally want this feedback. Aside, from this isolated incident ive always enjoyed what you give to the community for performances, plays, entertainers, etc and the staff overwhelmingly is extremely cordial. Ill add that she happened to come by the bar area shortly after I entered and I mention to the bartender that she needs development in guest relations. His exact response was in a disdainful voice, oh her and rolled his eyes. I suspect she has caused trouble prior to me. I was completely unwarranted to receive her treatment. I train my staff in the philosophy that its not what you say but how you say it. She has a tone that is extremely disrespectful. If you need more specific details id be happy to talk further. Thanks, John
My first time at play tonight was absolutely incredible. I could write paragraphs about the beauty and talent Ive witnessed here tonight but Im literally speechless. My life has been changed forever in the most beautiful way. I have found my new happy place, and I positively cannot wait to return.
This place definitely has the best drag show in town. Their drag queens are very diverse, performing a wide array of songs with great costumes and impressive dance moves. My only complaint is that there arent very many people who like to go out on the dance floor between drag shows. Theyve got a large dance area and a DJ, but there are always so few people out dancing that it makes it a little awkward to be one of the few people dancing. Always a good time though!
Always nice, always respectful. You cant always control who comes in, but the staff is great. Even when you drink too much and are a hot mess. 😂 Drag shows are a riot, so fun and a great getaway from time to time.Oh, tip the queens, and always tip your bartenders! Just an FYI. 😂😊
Play, has a great show room. The drag queens are very entertaining. I do love them. The dance floor is a definite disappointment. It resembles a renovated bingo hall. The cover charge is. Too experience, 7 bucks a drink is a complete rip off, they are strong but not worth the price.
I planned to go to the play for my 21th birthday and then I found out that it was 18+ and I was so happy that I got to go sooner but Im also going back for my birthday I cant wait to go back because it was such a great experience for me it was so fun all the workers was very nice and made sure you felt right at home Im gonna try to go as much as I can 1000% recommend
There is no other place in Louisville where I feel as comfortable and welcome. Let me clarify; my wife and I, a hetero couple, are completely comfortable here. No one is rude or hateful. We always have a good time. After a few visits the staff know me and they are always courteous. The performers are some of the best youll ever see. Almost any one of them could have top billing at another club, but they stay because Play is a family.
Had a blast!Went there for my wifes birthday, had a great time!Anyone looking to plan a celebratory event should go, strong drinks and very friendly staff.Alex working at the bar was particularly hospitable, offered ear pulgs since i couldnt stand the volume. Best bartender ive had in a long time!Really the entire audience was so nice too, such a friendly environment!Straight, gay, or otherwise Play is a great time- go!
Remember coming out going to connection it was 21 birthday thought could walk in area were was expect but there was this one person who dress up as Tina tuner they work at connection that person pull me in front of everybody call me pee wee Herman they embraces in front of everybody in whole club coming out as lesbian think would walk in space were feel love but all did was hate me laught me hope no body as go thur what I did now be 36 year old in may
It was a very fun experience. Got to see Alyssa Edwards. All the artist that preformed last night killed it. These Queens got some talent. Lot of Pageantry Queens and Glamorous Queens. They are definitely a very Inclusive Cast.
If I could give this place a zero I would. They kick people out for talking about there own body because my friend said she felt like she had broad sholders in a shirt she was wearing, Very discriminating !!!!! No remark was made tord anybody. She was speaking apon herself and for it to be sad that I left a one star 🌟 is totally what this place deserves ! You handled the situation unprofessional and if you all had cameras on the patio you would have none, nothing derogatory was said, you all are wrong for how you all handled the situation !!!! Friends didnt leave due to the comment either, they left due to your poor management and choice of how poorly the situation was handled ! 😔
Best place to dance. The bar tenders are the sweetest. Always a good time. Make sure to tip the queens and bar staff.
The Drinks are fabulous , the bartenders are absolutely AMAZING ! The queens are some of the most talented and creative human beings I have ever known. I would rather go to PLAY Louisville than any other bar in the city.
Had an absolute BLAST last night for my bestie’s Bachelorette Party!! 💃🏻 Wonderful experience, yummy drinks, and very clean/safe atmosphere following all necessary COVID protocols. We had several changes to our party leading up to coming, but the staff was VERY helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Highly recommend coming here for your next event!
Well I went there last night with 5 other ladies for my birthday and because I said that I looked and felt like a football player in heels we got kicked out.... No one was talking about any drag queens... I was talking about myself and someone got offended by it and told on me.... thanks for not a good time... I will not take anyone else there again!!! Ruined my night!!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Play is an amazing place to hangout to watch the drag show and best place for dancing in Louisville. Derby was crazy when we went was disappointed and the owner asked me to call to see what the issue was and see what he could do to rectify it. Amazing customer service!
I love club play.Everyone is so friendly and the club is usually always lit on Saturday nights.I love miss Lexi and Mykul Jay! They’re awesomeI definitely recommend coming here to party 😎💗
Has gone down hill. I use to come about once a month “pre-Covid” But the drinks are weaker. Biggest issue is they need to turn the music down a notch. When the “ performers Song” comes on its so loud that the Song is distorted that vocals start to cut out, I’m not sure how management doesn’t notice that. Been twice recently and just not worth the drive from Lexington now. Last visit was November 19th. Came to see Crystal method for my girls B-day & mine. And they only mentioned her one time before she came on stage and 1 song and 5 minutes of talking if that. Left at 2.
It was fun and lively for a wednesday, 20 bucks for a cover charge. Thats crazy. Bartenders are nice. The drag queens were good. I would rather take my 20 dollars and tip the girls than on a cover charge.
Always a good time here. Generally positive vibes in the clientele. Lots of room, but can still get rather packed. Great performances are a fixture at this club.
This place is amazing! Such a positive atmosphere. The drag shows are great and the bartenders know how to make some really good drinks. They always do some holiday events and pride events.
My sisters and I came here for our birthdays and it literally could not have been better! Such a great time and such great people!
Always a great time! Drinks are fairly priced and strong. Entertainment is some of the best in the city and the venue rivals some that Ive been to in bigger cities than Louisville. Great place!
Came here for the first time ever and the owner was extremely rude.I went to the ATM at their establishment to get cash. The ATM was not working. I went back to tell the man at the front if there was another way to pay the cover fee because the ATM wasn’t working. He responded rudely “well it’s been working for everybody else” ummmm well it’s technology that has potential to break down, and it ISNT working for me sooo now what? And what’s the purpose of being rude? He didn’t even walk over to check the machine or anything, he simply said that and then redirected his attention to someone else.I ended up leaving because I’m not gonna be treated as if I’m trying to get out of paying a measly $10 cover fee lol. Too many other good clubs! And Judging by these reviews, you have a bunch of rude staff. Some customer service training needs to be given to all staff and owner it seems.
Pretty good club. Large dance floor (for the area) and a rather large show bar where there were several drag show performances throughout the night (Sat). They usually have coat check in colder weather but not always. They also have an outdoor patio.I was a visiter to the city and glad I went here to check it out. The bartender I had was friendly and good. The bathrooms are clean and the music was mixed but pretty good. There is no wifi in the club.
Great drag shows and performers, drink prices were moderate and everyone was nice. Good DJ and a popping dance floor! Definitely going back again.
The drinks are WAY overpriced, and the bartenders are terribly rude. On top of it, the bars manager, Jordan Wilson posted pictures of my fiance and I, as well as publicly calling for violence against us. The worst thing about it is he searched for us somehow on Facebook and found us, then took a picture and put it on his page telling people where we work. All because he doesnt agree with our personal views. I have pictures to prove it as well that I have gave my lawyer.
I very rarely go out to clubs; but when I do get out, CLUB PLAY is at the top of my list! The scene is FIERCE! The drinks are deliciously resonable & the performers give you a show to remember! I drive all the way from Cincinnati just to catch a show & shake my tail feather! I cant wait to go back!
Everyone is so kind and excepting. So many sweet and fun people there. The performers are top-notch and the drinks are delicious!
Fun place with huge dance area and pretty good music. Fun drag shows with great local queens and larger acts. Drinks are decent. A must for LGBTQ+ club/bar seekers.
Honestly if the dance floor wasn’t always empty it would be a solid five stars. Great drag shows, friendly bartenders. Kind of a lot of straight people, though.
I was very disappointed with this night club. 150 beats per minute on the dance floor is horrible. I don’t care what you call it, it’s a form of techno, which I cannot dance too and apparently not many others as well. You can stand there and gyrate, but that’s not dancing. The only danceable music they play in this club is in the show bar, now that’s dance music. Fabulous dance floor, lighting and DJ booth. Two bars, one of which is fab, and the other cheesy on a flimsy platform. The show bar is uncomfortable; you can pay for a private booth, which does not resemble a booth at all , instead it’s merely a padded bench with a cheap looking table in front of it, too far from the side of the stage, the side no doubt! Go figure. The shows are good and the bar in the show room is beautiful, but like the dance floor bar they serve top shelf liquor in plastic cups, really? You pay 10 bucks to get in on the weekends and they serve drinks in flimsy plastic cups. If you want that overpriced Woodford Reserve in a glass, you have to tish over to the patio bar. If you like to smoke weed, like me, you better do it before you come into the club, because they have a no re-entry policy, once you pay to come it, it becomes Hotel California. Late! The décor is nice, except those hideous looking office doors in between the rooms, how ugly. The bathroom sinks are adorable but the restroom urinals are plain Jane office style. Oh and Play Bar and all you other gay bars, how ‘bout playing some real dance music?
Don’t come here If you have a service dog. Department of justice will be handling with them soon. Definitely think they know the laws but they don’t and as a nearby stationed military family I always tell other service members and their families about the discrimination. Got told”why would you want to bring a dog here on the one night people are wearing costumes and have a lot going on” by the freaking owner. Well I didn’t get to tell you because you walked away but I AM ALLOWED TO DO EVERYTHING ELSE A NON DISABLED PERSON CAN BECAUSE MY SERVICE DOG IS TRAINED TO BE IN ALL SORTS OF ENVIRONMENTS INCLUDING YOURS! I was just being a DD for my best friends 21st birthday. Piss poor people skills.
This place is amazing. It’s clean, the staff is professional, the entertainment is top notch & the prices are reasonable.10/10 would recommend.
Large gay bar with a drag show theatre. They have several rooms. One with a DJ and dance floor, outdoor area and another with the theater. They typically have a cover charge and a lot of bachelorette parties on the weekend. So beware.
Love this place! Several of my friends preformed last night and it was amazing! Great drinks and a mixed crowd of very friendly people! I had a blast... 🔥🔥🔥🙌🏽🥰😘
The best gay bar in Louisville
Went there December 31-January 1 and one of the workers was rude af like I was leaning on the bar because I wasn’t feeling well and I pulled out my phone to call Lyft to go home. The bar lady asked if I needed something I said no I need a minute and calling my Lyft. She was all like well you need to move and go somewhere else. I’m like why you being rude like I ain’t bothering anyone I’m minding my business trying to get home
Artists. Loved getting to see authentic expressions of humanity. So welcoming and a joy.
First time here and I liked it. I hope they expand some for the country night for fridays. This really is a big scene that could hit for this bar I think but thats just an opinion. Who doesnt need more business right ;) p
Its a bar...the drag shows could be better...ever hear of singing instead of lip syncing...I guess I am jaded from too many years in San Francisco...apart from that the lounge and the dance floor were nice.
Thr best time Ive had hands down. The energy is fantastic I couldnt honestly tell you who my favorites were they are all amazing!!
Their customer service is horrible. I went in with a real underaged ID and when I went to get it back I’ve never been more disrespected in my life. It’s a shame because I had one of the best nights before I was harassed by their bouncers who obviously are rude as hell.
Nice Employs the best I have seen the girls are amazingTake it from me I know the queens If you dont believe me check the pictures Nothing but fun Say my name to these Queens cora Yup thats me I know Bianca -Gemini -Dolly parts they all no me Mr. Valentine and China Ask Zack Asked the managers And many other Queens about me the girl with the purple hair they know me its true Best experience no doubt I even have a picture with my favorite bartender Hands down But Ive taken up just enough for your time what you waiting for plays waiting get there on time
Do NOT go here. Literally the worst place to have a girls night out. Straight Guys always acting like you’re fishbait and the WORKRS make you feel so much more uncomfortable with yourself it’s ridiculous. Please don’t come here unless you just wanna be another piece of meat in the sea.
Freaking amazingggggg bar. Had so much fun travel often and this by far the best gay bar Ive ever been to. Plenty of environments for everyone fun times. If you are gay and in Louisville. COME HERRRRRRRE!
Been going to Play Louisville for many many years. There is no other dance bar like this!
The most inclusive environment, and it makes everyone there so happy.
Great place and the staff is amazing. Makes everyone feel welcomed no matter who they are. Very clean and the bartenders are amazing!!!!
I was going get get my ID back from the check in desk and the lady was not going to give me my ID back because I had been accused of hiding my wristband under my watch... she told me that if “I did that again I would be banned from play.” VERRY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! It wasn’t like I had a giant X on one hand and my ID place holding number on the other.
Love going there and went every time with my military ID but this time they told me that I couldnt use military ID which really upset me. But still a great club!
Been going here for 3 years and never once disappointed Micah is the owner here and he runs this place to a T love it they even offer open stage to new drag queens and kings want to have a drink with some friends and have a ball most recommended place here in KY great shows and awesome people
Went to Play for my 18th birthday and I have to say it has the best drag show Ive ever seen! Cant wait to go back!!
Amazing friendly staff, amazing entertainment, and all around great atmosphere
So much fun! I love to go back and forth between the show and the dance floor. I wish Lexington had a place like this for dancing.

Bartenders do the best they can on those busy nights!
Whats not to love ❤️ ?
Fun energetic bar. It allows 18+ in but they get wristbands to not be able to drink. Very young crowd
Best place to go to have raw, unadulterated, musical, dancy fun. :-P Nobody cares your identity, anxiety, sexuality, introversion, extroversion, etc... you be you and you have fun!
Ive been wanting to go to this place forever it is the one place that seems like home Im in Bloomington Indiana and I am transGirl. I am a Student in Indiana I.U. and I am not to excited to go by myself. Anyone???
Nice place! very nice drag shows and I love when the dance floor is open (on weekends)
Great venue. Check out hot mess wednesdays. No cover on wednesdays so be sure to tip your entertainers!
Great fun.. drinks are too expensive but the shows are fun. I like ladies night on Thursdays.
I dont recommend this place at all. The smell of pee its everywhere. If it wasnt for that i would give it 4 stars but the fact the smells like that even inside the club in the seats is disgusting...
I havent been yet and have heard lots of good things but I am only 18 I would love to go but not sure if I can go, it dose not say on the website and I can not get a hold of anyone on the phone
I went for the first time, very entertaining. I had a blast, best show ever.
