Geez Louise, this place unfortunately has the worst service. I was scheduled for an appointment at 4:10 and unfortunately I was running behind. I called chillhouse at 3:50 est to inform them of this that I would be just a couple minutes behind. Luckily I arrived at 4:15 only 5 minutes late. When I arrived the front desk attendant said because I was late my nail tech had to cancel. Keep in mind I was only 5 mins late. Life happens. Okay no problem, so they sit me with a nail tech named Hitomi. She was the worst tech I have ever experienced. She refused to cut my dead skin on my toes and when I kept asking her she said no one is going to do that for you. She insisted that I leave it and I told her no and she got upset and began to question me. I then told her if she didn’t want to complete the service it was okay. She then goes to the front and starts trying to defend herself. At this point my experience has been less than ideal and so I got up and went up front to ask to be priced for just for a nail clipping and soak. The front desk attendant told me she could not do that and the “best she could do” (her words) was give me 25% off. No one is going to do that so I sat to be attended by Rocio. Luckily Rocio was much better than Hitomi but this doesn’t change my initial experience. I have been a customer of chillhouse for a long time. I often buy tips online and have spent a lot of money on this brand because I love it. Unfortunately this was the second terrible experience I have had here regarding the customer service and will not be returning or supporting the brand. Sharing a photo of how Hitomi insisted on leaving my toes. Also sharing proof I called a head of time to inform them I was running behind. And also showing proof I’m not a first time customer off the street
Chillhouse always delivers!! If you are looking for an array of fun designs that consistently last 10-14 days (soft gel), this is your place! I am always happy with the service and experience and have transformed myself into the friend “who always has good nails” which I never thought was possible 💅
Such a cute spot, it’s easily accessible by train and they offer so many different services: facials, massages, nails, sauna! I was a little bummed that the cafe was closed but it that didn’t take away from the amazing time. Highly recommend Tera for your facials! As a long time fan of ChillTips, I obvi had to stop by Chillhouse during my first time in NY! And the experience was everything. I had an appointment for a 50 minute facial and Tera did such an amazing job! She was so kind and gave me some really helpful skincare tips. My skin has literally never been better since my facial here.
Always have the best manicures at Chillhouse! Have been coming in monthly since they opened a few years ago and have enjoyed trying all the designs and color combinations with their super kind and efficient staff! Everything is clean and the vibes are always perfect for a relaxing stop during the day!
Chill house is such a cute and aesthetically pleasing space for someone who wants to pamper themselves or a loved one and take cute pictures while they’re at it. From its cafe, cute seating area, to the merch and creative nail designs, there is something for everyone. I personally had my nails done , gel with design, and I loved it. My pedicure was a basic one which I probably wouldn’t come back here for being that it chipped on the first night, but I would come back just for my nails and a cute photo op. They also have other services offered there which i would like to try like facials and massages.
So fun and chic! Love the nails and look almost brand new after 2 weeks! Staff is super nice and my hands still are soft!
Honestly this was a pretty good experience. while we did have to wait a bit, we got some complimentary tea and were able to view all the great chill tips! my best friend and i booked 60 mins of sauna time on the rainiest day, which was such a great little escape from the weather. we had clean robes and a great sauna session, plus free energy drinks!
Just want to start off by saying, all the service, the vibes of the coffee store and service was 10/10. I just wasn’t, unfortunately a big fan of the drinks. I know they are vegan drinks - so maybe that could be why as well. I personally wouldn’t go again for the drinks, but would check out their nail and spa salon on the other side:)
Love Chillhouse so much. I get my nail art done with Susana under the manicure package. Highly recommend!I wanted to come back an update this review because I wish I could give Chillhouse and Susana 100 stars. The whole staff is so caring and great but Susana has helped me bring my nails back to optimal health WHILE looking good.I am so appreciative and cannot recommend this place more.
Well lets start off with the location. The second you walk in, you feel relaxed. The polish display really brings the place to life. The front store is very ascetically pleasing! It was very clean. I saw someone cleaning ever 5 minutes. Now to the actual service. Ingrid was incredible! She kept asking me questions; asking if I felt relaxed, if she cut too low, confirming the colors I chose. Very comforting! Im not even going to get started on the massages which almost made me fall asleep twice😂.Its not often that I leave reviews, specially with such details. But I had an amazing first impression!!!!!
A 13 year old’s dream. Not much of a relaxing experience to get a pedicure listening to Jason Derulo. Overpaid $80 for a pedicure that was 20 mins shorter than listed and was worse than a $40 job from the nail salon on my corner.
Chillhouse is a treat! The nail technicians are sweet and professional. I love the unique designs and they work quickly. They have great massage therapists as well! A session here is perfectly topped off with a delicious healthy beverage or treat from the cafe. The experience here is seamless and chill. The whole place is a vibe.
I booked 80-minute massages for my mom and myself at chillhouse for mother’s day, expecting our treatments to start and end simultaneously. however, just as i was settling in for my massage, i was informed that my moms therapist was a no-show. as a result, my mom faced an 80-minute wait before she could be seen by my therapist. to accommodate the situation, they shortened both our treatments to 50 minutes on the spot, per my request, leaving my mom waiting for nearly an hour.while i appreciate the 23% discount offered, it felt insufficient given that we wouldnt have booked under these circumstances. our plans after the massage were disrupted, and i believe chillhouse should have comped my moms treatment at the very least.i want to emphasize that our massage therapist, sharron, was fantastic and not at fault in any way. she went above and beyond to salvage the experience, even offering to massage us back-to-back.its disappointing that chillhouse, which has a strict cancellation policy penalizing customers for late cancellations, didnt extend the same courtesy when they made a booking error and failed to inform us promptly.as someone who values professionalism and customer service, i was extremely uncomfortable and frustrated throughout the massage. i hope chillhouse will take steps to rectify this situation and restore my confidence in their service.
I’m not in the city often, but when I am I make a point to swing by Chillhouse! The atmosphere is amazing and the perfect spot for a cute photo op. I always make sure to stock up on my fave tips on every trip so I’m set until the next visit!
Edited review: Bailey, the manager, reached out to rebook me and comped my service. I found this really kind, and really enjoyed my manicure with Ingrid :)i arrived at 11:55am for my 12pm appt, and at 12:25pm i asked the receptionist about my appointment and at 12:30pm she said they couldnt locate my manicurist and that Id have to re-book...my recc for chillhouse: try and value customers time and money. id go to any of the 50+ nail salons in the .5 soho/tribeca/west village radius before returning here! hope that can change
Ive been a Chill House Member for years and I highly encourage it. For the all access membership, you can try out different services based on the credits and have they can roll over each month if you dont use them up. Its hard to choose a favorite service, but I was really impressed with the new acupuncture and cupping I had a few weeks ago. The follow-up care instructions were really specialized and I highly recommend it to anyone who is curious.
This is the second time Ive tried to give Chillhouse a chance theyve failed me. I will never be going here again. I had a massage appointment booked about a month out and about an hour before, as Im already on my way there, I get a TEXT MESSAGE that says my appointment was canceled because the therapist assigned got sick. I called and the receptionist did nothing to try and get me in for a different appointment later in the day. She instead offered a facial...Its hard for me to believe that with the full list of massage therapists their website boasts they cant find a backup to take on the appointments that have been scheduled well in advanced. As a Latina, I tried to give this Latina-owned business a chance but its just not worth it. Spend your money elsewhere - Bliss never disappointments or Elizabeth Arden. But if you do book, have a backup plan because they might just cancel on your last minute and not even bother to call.UPDATE: Bailey, the general manager, reached out to me via email and offered a complimentary massage of my choice as a resolve to my initial review. I took her up on this and yesterday, Kim - their top massage therapist - hooked me up with an incredibly delightful massage. She was wonderful, as was everyone else on site. Thank you for that experience. It helped relieve a lot of stress.
I have been a Chillhouse member since May 2019, and I love it. Going to this spa is one of the best experiences of my self-care routine. The nail art is truly unique, and their nail artists are all so skilled. My favorite nail artist in particular is Susana, she is simply amazing. The staff, the services, and the atmosphere are all top-tier.
I wanted to love this place but my experience was a bit disappointing and just fine. With the price and vibe that chillhouse sells its customers into I excepted a bit more - will mostly likely not return and go to the other fun nail salons in the city.Came with my sister for the holidays to get the tier 2 manicures - was super excited as I’m not able to do my nails too often, as they are quite short. To start with the nail technical was less than interactive, granted she seemed a bit off /sick (sneezing and coughing) which in a COVID world isn’t great but we were all wearing masks. As my nails are so short and we had already paid - I had wanted to get this pretty wavy design and asked if it would work with my nail length, and expected if not possible to be given some options of what would work better. Instead I was just told it wouldn’t really work well and a blank stare, so I said ok let’s try because I was unsure how to proceed. I was then asked if I wanted to adjust any of the colors and was thinking through a red but again the nail technician gave no input whatsoever so I just asked her to copy my sister and the other nail technician who actively helped my sister to figure out the best combo. I then got a rushed manicure (finishing 15 min before my sister even though we started at the same time and got the same manicure), I was not asked if I was ok with cutting and pushing my cuticles, which resulted in a bloody cuticle and three days laters a not so great manicure look, and when finished was told ‘ok we’re finished’ and she promptly left. I like their stick on nail designs but not looking to come back to in person.
Always a fantastic experience at Chillhouse! Ive been getting regular facials for a year now and just ha my first manicure. The entire team is friendly, the space is welcoming and colorful, and I always leave feeling extra relaxed.
Used to like this place but they shortened my massage by 10 minutes and wouldnt acknowledge it when I raised the issue. Pretty unprofessional
I enjoyed my time in Chillhouse especially when they have events in which they bring in small businesses and introduced to us to give both sides exposure. I also like their nails kits with different designs that you can pair up with your outfits and it is not hard to put them on.
I was so disappointed with my experience at Chillhouse. When you’re paying a premium price, you expect a premium experience. A few things worth noting; they don’t offer you any water or anything to drink, pedicure is rushed and skips a few key steps, my nails chipped within 1 day, there are no nail dryers (how is that even possible), they don’t give you a shoulder or back massage at the end (I live for this when getting my nails done). I paid $115 for a basic mani pedi and it was the most basic mani pedi experience I’ve ever had. The vibe is cool and different but other than that, this place has a lot of work to do. Listen to your customer’s reviews and implement some change. It will go a long way in retaining customers and keep them coming back.
One of the best decisions I made this year was to become a flex Chillhouse member. Monthly self care day, I can choose between facial or massage, AND credits roll over. The staff are always so friendly and professional, the space is clean, and the products used are great. 10/10 recommend trying it out.
I’ve been a member of chillhouse for a few years! It’s a really lovely and relaxing space. I would recommend going for massages, facials, and nail art. I’m in for a massage on a monthly basis, they have 1 or 2 really incredible masseuses. Can’t go wrong for a solo self care day, or a girls hang!
I did a double service back to back and had an amazing facial but then I got a pedicure and it ruined the whole experience for me. The pedicure was so harsh and extreme and VERY expensive for the most uncomfortable 45 min of my life. The lady actually cut the bottom of my foot and my heel with the callus remover and she clipped my toe and it now has an infection two days later :(
Such a peaceful oasis! The staff is always super friendly and every experience Ive had (manicure, massage, Matcha Tuesdays) has been lovely.
So welcoming and professional! Whether youre in need of a caffeinated pick-me-up or a nail refresh, Chillhouse has what you need. Run dont walk to the NYC flagship!
I’ve had my chillhouse membership for almost two years now and it’s the highlight of my month! Alicia is seriously the best for massages and has the best touch. The facials are great too!
I’ve only gotten facials and regular polish manicures here- but the manicures (again, just regular polish!!) last an entire week! And my skin has never looked better!! I love this place.
Super cute aesthetics and a big space. Staff is very friendly/willing to help. The manis/pedis are a bit overpriced for what you get but totally worth coming here for all things wellness: acupuncture, saunas, massages. Feel so much better & de-stressed after leaving here!
I have had the mid day mani subscription for over a year and I absolutely love it! It’s such a great deal, and I’m always impressed by the level of care and detail on my nails. Love chillhouse!!
Not chill at all…great ambiance but operationally really needs some help. They got overwhelmed when I asked to remove the gel while doing a polish change for a friend. Had to ask for coffee a couple of times even though was going to order when first walked in then was told to sit first then waited forever and didn’t get it till done with manicure..conceptually great concept but they need to get their operations in order. Mani came out ok!
Ive been coming to chillhouse regularly for the past few years for manicures because of their cute designs. It pains me to say it but theyve really gone downhill the past year.My favorite nail tech left and since then I have found a few that are also good but it took quite a few bookings that resulted in very disappointing nails. They were sloppy and definitely not the quality I had been expecting. It became a very hit or miss experience coming to chillhouse which is quite the gamble for the price point. The most recent time I went I tried to get a design that I had literally gotten there in the past (a design from one of their seasonal lookbooks from the past) and was told they are no longer allowed to do custom designs (even though it was a past design of theirs). I had to choose between basically five different designs that Id already gotten multiple times over the years. While my nails turned out absolutely gorgeous Im really disappointed that I now have to get the same few designs anytime I want to go to chillhouse. I like to switch things up and try out new designs so Ill just have to find another nail salon for that.Theyve seemed to put more energy into their chill tips collection being in retail than their flagship location. It definitely looks like it has some wear and tear. Lots of dying plants in the nail area. Just overall a shell of what it used to be.
Great selection of colors. Beautiful nail art. Very cool interiors. The membership is completely worth it for those who can come over on the weekdays. Callous removal in pedicure could be improved.
Pretty standard gel manicure and regular pedicure, but overpriced at $120. Main issue was they charged my card for both my friend and I’s appointments after both paying separately and when I called to let them know they essentially just said I had to sort it out on my own. Definitely not the kind of experience I was expecting considering the price point.
If you are a mama who is expecting - run don’t walk to Chillhouse for a prenatal massage and book Sharron. She was absolutely amazing. So kind so gentle and so knowledgeable about the body. I will definitely be back!
Ive been a member here for years and have tried a variety of services (all great). The value, environment and quality of massages are not to be missed - stop by and book with Alicia!
Honestly it looks chic online and was just kinda messy inside. Felt a little dirty. The pros: the reception staff was welcoming and the space is bright and easy to find. The cons: My nails looked nothing like the design I selected. Thick polish.Update: I did get a ton of compliments on the design. The polish lasted 2 weeks with no chipping.I still don’t think I’ll be back on my own. If the little girl I work with wants to get them done again, we’ll likely try another Instagram worth spot before coming back here.
I cannot say enough good things about Shardé. She gives life changing facials, truly. I’ve been seeing her regularly for my dermaplaning facials and she takes so much time and care to not only do a great job but make me feel completely relaxed. Her massage of my neck and shoulders in addition to my face is just heavenly - I always walk out feeling the perfect balance of refreshed and relaxed. I will continue booking her each time and look forward to my facials now when I go. Thanks Shardé
You guys literally have the best energy in the store. I feel so welcomed when I’m coming to shop and the manager is so attentive when it comes to helping me pick out nails
The nails looked good at first then there was a piece of hair that got into the gel and my nail tech didnt seem to really care about that. I took about 3 of my friends here and one of theirs was fine but my other friends nails looked bad and when she told the nail tech she got a attitude . I ended up spending about 100$ including tip. A week later the nails began to come apart. Save your money.
I was expecting a better experience for the price and marketing. The staff were ambivalent and borderline rude. The vibe was just… off. It felt cold, unwelcoming, and like the staff didn’t like their jobs. We got our nails done and they were fine but nothing amazing.
Gel nails did not last, barely made it a week. While I was getting them done, my manicurist kept looking around and watching what was happening at the other side of the room. Its a cool setting but for the price, definitely not worth it.
Was super excited to try chillhouse but was incredibly disappointed— 75$+ for regular gel that chipped 2 days later was not worth it. I was also charged for a tier 2 manicure when I only received tier 1.I will say my nail tech was super nice and I did love my design in the end, but it was just way too underwhelming given how much they charge—note they charge extra for gel removal , don’t remove dip, and the manicure doesn’t include any cuticle cutting or oil, only filing and shaping. Needless to say I’ll be sticking to my reliable neighborhood salon.
The lobby atmosphere was great. The front desk ladies had great personality. My massage was perfect but the masseur had no personality. I am not sure if he spoke English or not which may have been the reason for his lack of communication. But overall good experience. I would recommend this place and I would go again.
The chillhouse is the perfect place to get your nails done and or another services in a beautiful environment!
My massage was great!! Very relaxing! My facial with Tomàs was the BEST facial I have ever had! So so relaxing! Thanks to both of you!
Tomas killed it. Best facial I’ve legit ever had in my life! Also vibes are immaculate
Love this place and the staff but why no AC in the summer?! Too expensive to not be temperature regulated
Got gel nails done here and 1 day later I noticed air bubbles forming in my polish and the gel wasnt even fully dry.. had to go to another nail salon where they said my nails werent properly prepped and dried and they said I needed to remove the gel polish.. I called and they said I could file a formal complain but they should have just refunded the service as it was a waste of my time and dangerous to even keep on the nails.
My niece booked a late Mother’s Day gift for my mom and I. 3 pedicures. We each got the smooth feet pedicure which was advertised as 60min. Each of us were done in 30minutes. There was nothing luxurious about the service. The $60 pedicure was basic no frills and no massage. We could have gotten the same service at any nail place in NYC with the customary foot massage. My nails look good but we sincerely expected a more upgraded experience. This is a trendy place with average service.
Gels peeled off within a week of mani! I went with my girlfriends on Saturday to get my nails done for my upcoming engagement. I went with a gel mani because I wanted it to last a few weeks. Four days after the manicure, three of the gels on my left hand had peeled off (thankfully he proposed the day after the manicure and we got good photos!) I had to go back in and get the nails redone. Then today (10 days after mani) my right middle finger chipped. Absolutely not worth the money spent. So disappointed.
Went there for the first time today, nails came out okay but the experience was very stressful at “chill”house. My manicurist never introduced herself and never said a word during service expect asking if I want the same color as the look book. The receptionist is just downright rude like another comment has mentioned about the look, the tone, and eagerly I’d just bad. It’s just not welcoming. The experience has canceled everything chillhouse claimed to be. I really want to love this place bc it’s cute and have all the services I use but if they don’t welcome everyone here. I’ll take my biz elsewhere.
The staff was kind and Hitomi was great! I got the fancy feet pedicure. However, the website is misleading. It says the service is 1 hour and 10 minutes, but it isnt if youre not getting gel. They charge the same amount for gel and regular polish, which is what I learned at check out. The service honestly isnt worth $75. It was a basic pedicure that you can get at any nail salon. The only exception is the 10 minute foot massage included, which was great. However, I am disappointed with some aspects of the service and how pricing was listed online. Cute place and concept, but not worth the price.
I booked in person and asked for a Tier 2 manicure, but was booked for a Tier 1 instead. I had my heart set on a Tier 2 design, but I was cool with switching up the plan. All the designs are pretty cute, so I didn’t mind. The final product isn’t exactly as the photo, but I loved the employees and the space over all so it’s not that big of a deal for me. Also the design looks really like a modern art piece so I’m having fun with it. I’m leaving only four stars because of a couple of bumps, but over all it’s a really nice and chill place. The aesthetic and the people are nice and I’m definitely coming back again when the gel nails are ready to go. :)
It’s really disappointing that they have no way to fix a broken nail, even if the broken nail was a result of their technician overly aggressively removing my polish. I have two broken nails that started immediately after my service. I wish I had just gone back the same day but I did not have time. When I tried to make a subsequent appointment, they informed me they wouldn’t even be able to fix my broken nail because they don’t have the tools to do that. Imagine a facility charging what they do, offering all the services they do, and they can’t fix a simple broken nail caused by their own technician. Needless to say, I won’t be back.
Dealing with a round about of cancelling and rescheduling policies. I had an appointment two weeks ago and rescheduled to today. I wanted to cancel altogether but they suggested I reschedule to incur less of a fee and then cancel. I received a text message a day before my appointment asking me to confirm or cancel the appointment. I responded that I would like to cancel. When I didnt hear back from the automated texts I called the salon to confirm that my appointment was canceled. They said that this is a reminder text and by responding cancel I did not actually cancel my appointment. Now I have paid a second rescheduling fee to reschedule my appointment and cancelled it immediately by phone. The woman on the phone laughed at my request but ultimately processed it. Ive been charged a total of $24 in rescheduling fees.I dont really understand why all the tricks? I have always wanted to try this salon and the cool nail designs but the poor customer experience has completely turned me off.
The best decision ever was to sign up for the membership! I look forward to the mid day manis and the chill vibes. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming.
PLEASE TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!I came in for a massage and left with a hurt shoulder blade. It started ok but early into the massage my therapist proceeds to put my arm behind my back and pull under the shoulder blade. I told her I was uncomfortable and she was not nice about it - telling me sometimes discomfort is part of it and that she was trained and would never hurt me.She then proceeds to do it again until it actually really hurt and I had to firmly tell her I did not like that and to please stop.I could not relax the rest of the massage, and now days later my shoulder blade is still in pain.I understand putting pressure on the muscles to release knots but it’s a completely different story trying to move your joints in ways they don’t want to go. Anyone who does yoga will understand this, and I would especially expect a supposedly trained massage therapist to know if someone is in any form of discomfort to lay off immediately.I tried reaching out via email (apparently they don’t have a customer service phone number at all - very telling if you ask me with all the negative reviews on here) and they have yet to respond.I made the mistake of not reading reviews before booking and now reading I easily found another one in which the customer clearly told the massage therapist to stop and they wouldn’t.This is not only unprofessional, unethical, but also borderline illegal. I just hope my shoulder stops hurting soon....
Been a member for years and am always so blown away not just by the service but the true kindness of everyone that works there. Fab one stop shop for perfect self care day.
I booked an appointment for my wedding nails and wrote in the booking request exactly what I wanted, got here and was told they don’t do that. They only do the specific patterns in their “lookbook” but no one bothered telling me that, what a waste of time I don’t have.
THIS IS THE WORST FACIAL EXPERIENCE AND THE MOST HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I would tell everyone and anyone never to patronize this Spa. I have has many facials at various spas in NYC and I have NEVER had an allergic reaction. After having a facial at Chillhouse my face, eyes and neck were extremely swollen (my eyes were like slits) for 4 days and my skin- which the aesthetician described as being in great condition was left red with bumps and when that finally started to calm it was so dry it looked chapped. She recommended the Glow Facial so my skin would look brighter. WORSE was the fact that when I called the Spa to explain the situation and to find out the ingredients because I was clearly having a reaction to their products they told me that they could not give me that information and that they would have to pass the information to Customer Service and if they chose to contact me then I could ask them. SERIOUSLY!! I told them I wanted to go to a doctor but it would be useful to know what I was reacting to. Customer service did text me the email address and I provided photos of my swollen face and asked if they could please tell me what the ingredients were in the products they used. I communicated with them on Saturday morning and they responded that they were sorry that happened to me and they would look into it and provide the information shortly. By that evening the did not respond, nor did they respond the following day but rather 2 days later- Monday afternoon- to say it wasnt their fault that I had an allergic reaction and to wash my face with calming face wash. Apart from the fact that they are disgusting human beings that wouldnt even give me information to assist in medical treatment (My doctor had to prescribe an oral steroid to calm the reaction since it wasnt going away naturally) they are horrific business people. IF SOMEONE IS HAVING AN ALLERGIC REACTION YOU HELP THEM TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY ARE REACTION TO. YOU SHOW CONCERN. YOU ACT LIKE A CARING PERSON NOT SOMEONE WORRIED ABOUT A LAWSUIT. But the stonewalling behavior of this Spa leads me to believe they have had these problems before and they fear lawsuits rather than try to help their customers. Do yourself a favor.... with the hundreds of spas in NYC why waste your time and money going here. Everyone loves to cancel people and businesses....well here you go...THEY SHOULD BE CANCELLED!!!!
This place is awesome and a cant wait to bring my friends back for the ultimate girls day! You could spend hours here- from manicures and pedicures, to sitting in the lounge with a latte to a massage or sauna time- all while listening to great beats. The massage I got was amazing and I will for sure be asking for a membership for Christmas!
Got the Clean Me Out Facial with Angela, she was very kind and knowledgeable about products. Asked me a bit about my skin care routine and suggested a few products they sell there, but theyre not pushy about it. She was also gentle with extractions and did a phenomenal job with the facial. All the staff were nice and professional, and the space is adorable!
Such a wonderful place and atmosphere - so cool! Unfortunately my gel manicure only lasted about a week
I was very excited to go to chillouse, and Im very disappointed. Im staying in Casa Cirpiani, far from this place but I came twice in 2 days, to get an appointment. The drinks are amazing, but the manicure was very bad and the worst is the hygiene of table and tools. Paying 60 dollars for a manicure, the minimum is a good cleaning and a good manicurist. I only recommend this place for drinks.
The facials...omg.my experience at chillhouse on Varick St was 10/10 from the moment I spoke with the associate on the phone in regards to rescheduling my appointment for a later time that day due to the fact that I had to take my pet baby bunny to emergency vet; to my surprise, I had to then follow up and ask for another later appointment once I saw that the visit at the vet was taking longer than expected. Long story short, the staff was super understanding during my crisis and went above & beyond to accommodate me by rescheduling my appt for two days later with Tómas (who was an absolute esthetician angel). He walked me through every step of the facial, filling me with what products he was applying and their benefits. I left GLOWING! Overall, I would totally book again — such an amazing spa!!
Went for a great mani/pedi experience at this place. I’ve been super stressed with everything that’s going on and wanted to get a service that would help me relax but also feel safe while supporting a local business. Going here was a great decision! I love the whole vibe of the place and the staff was friendly and professional. They gave me time to get a coffee from the bar and time to shop for a color for myself - decided to upgrade myself to some funky nail art (even though less people see me now than ever before - I treated myself!) I would definitely come back here and, in future months, would bring my friends with me too!
Is over priced for the service. I got a basic pedicure and was charged as if it was a spa pedicure, or a gel. The lady accidently broke my nail cause it was weak. She in addition did not even put a lot of lotion on my feed or even massage me as described in the package deal. I give it a two star because the salon is super clean and pretty.
I wish I could give this place a lower than 1 star rating.Ive had two experiences with them.First time: I called and asked if they were free to provide me a service that same afternoon. The receptionist was super rude and placed me on hold while she checked. As I waited I heard the phone click... she hung up on me. Accidental or not, not a great experience. No call back, nothing.Second time: I booked a massage with them for 11am on a Sunday. I specified wanting a female masseuse since Im not comfortable with a male. On that Sunday at 10:57am I got a call telling me that the female masseuse was running late. I was asked if a man would be fine. I expressed discomfort and thanked them for letting me know, expressing that I was okay just cancelling for now, since I didnt know when I would be in New York next. I also didnt appreciate being let know 3 minutes before my session. I was basically in the door at the time of this phone call. Well, instead of respecting my wishes, the receptionist let me know that they would still be charging me for a cancellation. ... Uh what? Youre charging me for something YOU changed last minute and youre penalizing me for not being fine with a male masseuse. Its 2020, do I need to say more? How invalidating.I understood this wasnt the receptionists fault and I asked to speak with a manager. She let me know that the manager would call me back. It has been 4 days. No phone call from any manager and a charge on my credit card already came through.thanks Chillhouse!
I really wanted to like it here, as your paying a pretty penny for a manicure. I walked in and the woman at the front desk could not even bring herself to smile or look at me. Your name. All she said. I went over to the cafe and the girls were too busy taking pictures and messing with their phones. Unhelpful, uninviting and took the whole chill thing a little too far.My nail technician Izumi (not sure how to spell her name) was incredible. the manicure and the design was excellent and her care for detail was great. Id go back solely for her, but I wish the staff was a little more friendly and warm.
I took my wife here for a couples massage and infrared treatment for a Saturday date night. The massages were excellent in a great massage room, cool vibe with comfortable sheets and relaxing music. Chillhouse came through on everything and made me look good with my wife, which is most important. Highly recommended!
Pedicure was done so harshly it gave me an infection on one toe. I have to take antibiotics now!!!!Also: gel manicure chipped after 14 hours.Terrible experience, I wish I have never chosen this place for a birthday spa day.
Had a bespoke facial with Tiffany and the works massage with Eric. Tiffany was such a friendly soul, she made me feel so comfortable, walked me through all the products and steps she used on my skin, I left with my skin hydrated and glowing. Eric worked some serious magic on my neck and tense spots on my back, I was so relaxed I started drifting into that state of mind right before you fall asleep. If ykyk. Overall great experience, would definitely recommend! The only thing that would have made my experience even better would be different music- other spas I’ve been to play more of a relaxing melody/meditation music, it lets my mind drift and really enjoy the treatment, the music during my treatments at chillhouse reminded me of monotone elevator music (fyi this was only in the treatment rooms, the lobby and cafe area had different music)+(just an idea but it’d be awesome to set the speakers up closer to the table to drown out external stimuli) in the beginning I couldn’t help but get fixated on hearing Eric and myself breathing - not a big deal but it would make the experience that much better. Thanks for having me!
Ive been here for the gel mani with nail art many times. Its my favorite place to go when I want cute designs- its high quality and it lasts a good 2 weeks. I always see Kesang who is nice, professional, and makes sure that the design looks absolutely perfect before I leave.
To anyone looking to book a massage at Chillhouse, dont.Almost 2 weeks ago I booked a massage at Chillhouse and was abused by a therapist there. Ive reached out to Chillhouse multiple times, but they have been unresponsive, and frankly, made me feel worse about the situation.I went into a trusted space that Ive been before, with a company Ive admired and recommended to others. The massage was fine until the massage therapist, Danny, moved to my legs, when it started to hurt and I asked less pressure please. He tells me to relax. I tell him again that hurts and he tells me to just breathe. When I started to cry he even verbalized hurts huh? and told me that I needed to do exercises for my weak muscles. I want you to understand that this therapist knew I was in pain and ignored me when I told him so, and even asked him nicely for less pressure. I was in an incredibly vulnerable position - naked, with a stranger who was hurting me and did not seem to care. I have never felt so trapped and humiliated. This is not a person who can be trusted as a massage therapist. Chillhouses response was to invite me in for another massage. I likely wont ever have a massage again, this event was so incredibly traumatizing. When I told them that I didnt think he should work there, they ignored my email and moved on.This experience has shown me that Chillhouse doesnt care about their clients. In a nightmare scenario, they did nothing actionable and this man stays to continue hurting people.
Came in for the “Gel Monty” manicure and the “Smooth Feet” pedicure.Upon arrival I asked if cash payment is possible and was told no, this is a card-only establishment (aside from gratuities). This is a very classist policy on Chillhouse’s part. Many people cannot get credit cards for an assortment of reasons, from bad credit to immigration status. These people are effectively barred from coming to this spa. Some people are unbanked for personal reasons as well. Very elitist and not at all intersectional or inclusive of the proprietor. Also this policy is not advertised clearly on their website and I had come with cash to spend, luckily I did have a card on me as well. The technician did great work on my cuticles and was very careful and precise shaping my nails. The massage (both pedi and mani) was lacking however (short/weak), and I’m 90% sure I never got the foot scrub I paid for with the Smooth Feet manicure. When I got home I discovered that despite inspecting all my nails closely, the technician had missed a tiny black thread imbedded in the gel of a finger nail, and had left the finishing on the same nail a bit sloppy. The color selection was nice- not a million options but all very on trend, and though I can’t get nail art due to my job, they had some very cute options for that as well.Overall I feel like I’ve gotten manis and pedis just as nice, technically speaking, from traditional, non trendy spas for better prices. And I’ve definitely had nicer massages and a more pampered experience at nail salons for less money as well. You are absolutely paying tor the trendy factor of this place- which, honestly? It could have been hipper if that’s the business plan.Won’t be coming here again because the price to quality just do not match up.Edit: just noticed 2 more flawed nails and that the technician got clear base coat on the pad of 1 of my fingers. 😕
Amended review: After an unfortunate sub-par massage experience, my friend and I contacted Chillhouse and they were very prompt with their response, and incredibly empathetic, kind and understanding, leading me to believe that my poor experience will not happen again. I am impressed by how much they care for their clients and how professional they were in the matter.
Love coming to Chillhouse! The staff is always so friendly and the services have always been fabulous. Tried the cafe for the first time on my last visit and it was delicious! Always make a stop during my trips to the city!
They’re extremely unprofessional and dishonest. I made an appointment online with a friend. They called me to reschedule my 10:30a appointment at 7p the day before. I told them I’m meeting a friend whose appointment is at the same time. The woman acknowledged my friend’s appointment, but was unapologetic, and kept telling me they would “squeeze me in the same day,” like they were doing me a favor by rescheduling. I told her I can’t reschedule, and want to cancel and get refunded. She told me I won’t get charged for the service, but the $1 booking fee is non refundable. Okay. I called my friend who immediately tried to cancel her appointment and she kept getting sent to a voicemail that said they were closed - they close at 8p. She left a message at their main number, the number they called me at, and she sent them an email. They ghosted her and literally sent her a cancellation email 15 minutes before her appointment time! She was already on her way because she didn’t want to get charged full price because their cancellation policy. They’re disgustingly unethical.
Nerissa made me a convert. Shes the BEST and has a super welcoming personality. She gave me some good advice after the massage to keep my muscles healthy. The front desk team was really nice, too.
My services were actually really great but my experience with the receptionist was beyond awful. I was kind and polite and all I received was a rude attitude. I asked to turn down the club like vibe at 10am and received a snarky remark. I would rebrand this location as the NO-Chillhouse. Also, for some reason they refuse to answer the phone or call you back. If you like chilling and relaxing while getting nails done, I would not recommend this place.
Great space - funky design carried through every detail. Received an 80m Invigorate massage from Malika - she is a true healer and took the time to give me feedback and tips on how to loosen my hip flexors. Only complaint would be the acoustics in the rooms - at times I could hear the music from the lobby and always heard the opening and closing of the sliding doors from the other treatment rooms. Other than that, great experience and I would recommend to friends.
Way too expensive for your average mani or pedi. Technicians did take their time but aside from a for-pay coffee bar it’s just a regular nail salon with very high prices
So, I here at the flagship store booked my appointment via phone and online, i traveled from another state only for them to tell me I needed proof of vaccination in order to be serviced … now had this information been public via website or even told to me while making my appointment online my time and money wouldn’t have been wasted. There was no accommodation or understanding.
Went to get a massage. Room was very cold and had to get a second blanket. I can’t believe I paid so much to still have pain after. I could of gotten my boyfriend to do a better job. I was also charged a fee for covid hazard cleaning and was never notified beforehand about this. Front desk girl was on her phone the whole time with head down. Never coming back here... it’s all just good marketing.
Such a great experience here. The place looks awesome and the girl at the front desk couldn’t have been nicer. I got a massage from Daneisy and she was so professional and kind, and I left feeling amazing. 10/10 experience!!
This is the one, guys! Went here for a Make Me Glow facial and it was awesome. Dihan was so on point with what was going on with my skin and was incredibly honest with me on what I needed to be doing to perfect it. She gave me a list of AM/PM routines and a shopping list of products that are best suited for my skin. I would write a little more but Ive gotta go get started on my skincare homework. Haha This place is great, really chill vibe too, Ill definitely be going back.
Huge fan of Chillhouse nails -- they last forever and the products used in the manis and pedis are the best quality.
I went in on the 4th to get a Gel Rodeo. By the 6th, the polish chipped, and trying to get it fixed is such a hassle. I called, left a message, sent an email, called again to be told I had to send an email only to get a response an hour later asking if I wanted to book an appointment today. Obviously. Then, another hour later, I get a response with really late appointment times. It’s one nail. One. Why do I need an appointment to get one nail fixed. For the price, and the hassle, this hasn’t been worth it.All headache no chill. And it’s looking like I’m either going to have to fix my nail myself or go somewhere else.I will not be going back here.
Love the aesthetic of the place but would go elsewhere for a massage. Overpriced (not including gratuity!) and underwhelming—would recommend going to your local no frills body work spot for the real deal (and a friendlier price).
I’ve been going to Chillhouse for a few months now, and I’ve never been disappointed. Their nail art is the best- super cool designs and a fraction of the price compared to other nail art salons. I keep coming back to try new designs!!
I love this location, its so cozy. The staff is so kind and welcoming.
I got the glow facial from here. Honestly, its was a 5/10, definitely not worth the price theyre charging
I’ve been here a few times already and I love it! The services are great and the people are wonderful. Third time was the charm for me, Eric and Olga did a great job! Will be back soon :)
Sharron was great! she knew exactly what my back needed and was here to provide. she was so warm and welcoming. all of chillhouse was cozy and fun so i’ll definitely be back!
I’ve been going to Chillhouse for over a year now and am obsessed. Susanna is the best and cannot be gate kept!
I religiously come every week and get my nails done by Suzanna!! Highly recommend coming here for fun and cute designs
Do not engage for events unless you like to have your card over charged after already having a bad experience at the actual event!
I got a facial with Tess and she was fantastic. i did the 80 minute customized facial my skin came out feeling so moisturized and brand new.
Staff here is always courteous and kind. It’s the vibe you want for your self-care time. Tiffany gives THE BEST facials.
I got the worst pedicure. The woman who did my pedicure actually cut my toe nails so short, four were bleeding. I’ve been in quarantine for eight months, my toe nails did not need to be cut that short. I guess I’ll wait three months to get my next pedicure?!
Love the ambiance and overall lively yet comfortable atmosphere.
Best spot for self-care! Super chic and great services. Loved my nail art and the “chill me out” latte on oat milk was delicious!!
Its been a week and my nails still look perfect, I also cant remember the last time a nail tech finished faster than I thought they would.
I came in for a pedicure my nail polish is off my toes in less than three hours. I have small cuts around toe nails from the pedicure. My feet are in pain. First and last time for Chill house.😡
Lovely, cute, and vibey. Great for solo or group events. This isnt a traditional spa or bath house. You have to book everything in advance.
Amazing massage and a 30 minute facial that had my skin buttery and dewy! I will be back.
Nice atmosphere. Got chill tips and two of them popped off within a few hours. Which of course was pretty disappointing.
Overhyped… not worth it, I got the 80 minute massage… it was okay, but not justified by the price. I was expecting better.
Loved my facial… so calm & relaxing and i love the dermologica products used!!
I’ll visit chillhouse every week till my dying day. I could not love this place more!!!! Thank you for providing the best mani experience in nyc!
Overpriced for what you get. They didn’t put me a base cover, nor any lotion.... completely disappointed. I won’t come back.
Chill house is a refreshing & a vibe.
Only went to the café but loved the ambiance and the hospitality!
The interiors were dirty and messy. Not the experience you’d expect from their Instagram. Miss their old location.
Gel no chip nails were brown and chipped within 2 days.
The worst press on nails I have ever used.
Facial was alright and not too expensive with easy online booking.
I enjoyed the atmosphere, drinks and the professional service received. Would recommend this place to quite a few people.
Good place just a bit pricey but good vibe there
Easy checking and talented nail artists. Would highly recommend!
Super relaxing, best aesthetic and amazing treatments! New go-to!!
The place I trust most for my manicures and pedicures.
Such a cute place with really nice workers!
Love it. Nancy is the best.
Great facials and nails every time.
