We bought discount tickets for a Sunday afternoon show. We’ve been here many times so arrived early/on time, hoping for a good seat and to get our food/drink order in. . I was happy as when we were sat, we could see the stage /mic very well. Our server (black female- no idea what her name was as they don’t give receipts, eventually took our order. They may have been short staffed as she had a large section to wait on so service was slow. As the show was beginning, a couple, one being a very tall man with “big hair” was sat in front of us, my view of the stage/comic was completely obstructed. This was disruptive as the server had to take their order, I couldn’t see a thing- this ruined the show! I have no idea why they put zero thought into seating! Why seat people who arrive late with better seats?! People who arrive late should be sat in the back area where there were plenty of open seats and wouldn’t disturb others. The food /drinks were great. Paying your bill here is annoying. They come around with a little tablet for you to pay. I had my credit card ready. She quickly flashed the screen with my bill on it. I had no clue what it said, how much it was, etc. before I could click that I wanted a receipt, she grabbed it out of my hand and moved onto the next table.
Took my mom to see Charlene and she had such a good time. Place is not big so any seat works in my mind I had reserved seats but I like to sit up top I can see better. Seats are very close to each other so keep that in mind. The first time I went we shared a table with 2 other guest that was there. The toss salad is not worth $14 I’m sorry. The pizza was ok and the drink brotherly love was ok as well. This is my second time here. I advise you to park in the lot next door for $18. Dress causal or chilled because it’s dark and a very chill atmosphere. People had on jeans , scandal sneakers etc but if you want to get dress baby through it on! Hope this helped
I’m sure anyones ratings of this place will be effected by the show they see. But the place was pretty good. Only issue was settling the tab in the middle of the show. That kinda sucked. I’d rather order everything and then settle before the show starts. I’m there for the show, not the fried food. The drinks were good. And Sarah Sherman is quite funny.
Great place to see comedy. The place is small, but settings are intimate. There is only one issue. When sold out, if you have a party of two or one, they sit you with strangers. It is already tight enough. Food is average, but the put out food and drinks quickly
All around good experience. The bouncer was friendly. The front desk was nice and informative. The wait staff was great. The venue was well laid out. It was tight seating but comfortable. The food was good and they had a nice selection of beer wine and cocktails. The audio and lighting were also great. Well definitely be going back.
I can’t recommend this place enough to everyone i know. I have been to plenty of clubs and venues for comedy all over the Philly and AC area and nothing feels more like home than Helium. From the door guys to the bartenders to the servers and the kitchen staff. This club is ran so well never a issue and on top of their game consistently. They are always bringing in top tier and upcoming comics. I always tell everyone for the price have some drinks some laughs its a perfect night out. This is the only place where im consistently brought to tears laughing. So many shows i been to throughout the years here and i will not stop recommending it to everyone. I will gladly keep coming back and its a good feeling spending your hard earned dollars on a establishment that appreciates the customer. This review was long overdue!
Its hard to enjoy a show that you paid for when pushy waitresses are demanding you order things for the 2 item minimum.. grabbing your shoulder and threatening you to order things you dont want. They dont care about your food preferences, health conditions, or sobriety. Helium wouldnt need a minimum if there was anything on the menu people actually wanted. Crappy Costco fried food and a drink selection youd find in a frat basement are not the move. 2 drink minimums were started for free comedy shows and might make sense there but Helium double dips charging for tickets and then acting like a thug. I feel bad for the performers who may think the audience isnt enjoying the show when really theyre just upset after a shake down. Its 2024.. get a better menu and treat people with respect instead of weird coercion. Ive been going here for decades to support friends and comedians. I always dread the awful menu choices and forceful wait staff. Life is short, I wont be back.
It was a pretty cool spot for the older crowd. My husband took me here for a birthday surprise and I got to see Lavelle Crawford, one of my favorite comedian. I love the vibe here and very mature crowd. Already planning to come back.
My husband and I had a great experience here when we came to see Josh Johnson. The staff was so friendly and helpful and really added to the experience of seeing an awesome show! Shout out to our waiter, Vinnie, who was professional and funny and took great care of us throughout the night! Amazing service with a sold out show!
Ive been coming here for years and have never had an issue. The food and drinks are great. The sound system is great. The staff is great. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded, but never uncomfortably. Every now and then youll find someone doesnt understand to keep their phone away or shut up, but its handled appropriately. The people posting 1 star reviews are usually complaining they were told to be quiet by staff. One review I saw complained about Todd Glasss performance. Dude, watch the comedian before you buy tickets. And hes great, even saw him at helium!Saw Kevin Nealon last night and both the opener Jay Black, and Nealon were hilarious. They did a great job. Also, the kitchen and servers got our food out immediately! Barely a 5 minute wait for food and drinks.
Great acts and phenomenal location. While operationally they were a well oiled machine, servers went back and forth effectively without distracting from the show, the food was so blah. In a basket of 6 mozzarella sticks, 2 were freezer burned and the breading was SO THICK. I didnt realize there was a tier lower than School cafeteria mozzarella sticks. They make you buy two things minimum too which I know is industry standard, but will never not feel scammy.
The only thing I don’t like about this place is the seats. It’s like the cram a bunch of people in a room and uncomfortable seats. The drinks are good. The food is good. The atmosphere is intimate.
This comedy club is awesome! Two item minimum a person, but they have great options of food/drink. Pictured are the chicken tenders, fried pickles, and pretzel bites. Every seat is basically a good seat here. If you. Choose reserved you basically get front few rows. Photo shows second row front and center. Definitely recommend! Cant wait to go back.
I came here the other night to see a comedian perform. I had arrived early to pick up my tickets and The security guards/bouncers were so friendly and kind. They do a great job here at making sure everything runs smoothly. They have 2 bars which help shorten the line while we all wait to order a drink. The staff are very attentive and kind. Would definitely come back.
We came in for the late (10pm) show and there was one at 7:30 as well (one of my all time faves, Christopher Titus!). Im not sure if thats why admission into the showroom was such a mess, maybe this didnt happen during the earlier show...but no one seemed to know where they were supposed to be standing (reserved versus general admission) in order to enter the showroom. There was no signage anywhere indicating where to queue up, and theres no intercom or PA system. So the instructions that the staff were shouting to the patrons were only heard by about half of us.The showroom is moderately sized, a nice intimate space that holds - I believe - 250 people. We were 3 rows back with reserved seating that I purchased almost 3 months in advance. So I think if you want front row, youve gotta jump on those tickets right away. The food and beverages were quite good. We especially enjoyed the pizza. They are personal-sized BUT Id say one pizza could feed 2 if youre getting other munchies with it (like the sampler platter, which is mostly fries with 2-4 of each of the other included items).I would return for someone I REALLY wanted to see, but because of the crowd handling, I dont think I would frequent this establishment.
We had a great night here and enjoyed the show. Venue was centrally located inPhilly and had a cool vibe inside. Staff were all awesome. We went after dinner so we only had beer and wine, but the cocktails and food also looked good. Two drink / item minimum per person and drinks from their bar don’t count / only food and drinks ordered table side do, so we just grabbed a coffee as our second item, no worries.
Fist of all, let me say that the Tony Rock show was great. My problem was with the waiter who stood over us when we first sat down to make sure we fulfilled our two item minimum. Give people a minute to settle in and read the menu. Ive been here many times and will continue to go to see great comedians
Very accommodating.Warning though for the visually challenged it is very dark even before the show.Warning for people with sensory / audio issues, it can be loud at times.Super hot inside, but it is 95 degrees out and its a sold out show.I would recommend this place.
Great venue: not huge, but big enough; friendly, helpful staff; easy to access with the garage just next door; decent sized, clean restroom (no line for womens before the show, but huge line out the door afterwards); we were very pleasantly surprised to find a small selection of mocktails. We had 2 mocktails: SOB raspberry was good, but would have been better with more raspberry, and Pom-Quench was very good, but I couldnt taste the pomegranate - it should have had more pom or just be called a Pine-Quench. We would definitely go back to this venue.
The staff is advised to take your drinks away before you are finished them so that you are forced to order more. That on top of you needing to order 2 items per person. They cannot afford to keep their kitchen open so they cut corners in ways that are unfathomable. Be a non-rich person and try to have fun and laugh here. Good luck! (I do not ever leave negative reviews check my history)
Great place for a night out to see good comedy. My only complaint is how close the tables were. The waitress kept squeezing her way brushing up against me, so if anyone has a touchy feely phobia I recommend sitting in the back. We arrived late with a full house, so thats where we were placed. Other than that, its a pretty good atmosphere.
This was the location my date chose for our 2nd date.Comedian Rocky Dale Davis!Great guy! He was hitting all relevant points in society now a days! Definitely 5 stars!Helium, please tell your staff, security, or the guy that looks like a pin cushion to please be courtesy to your guest! This man not only interrupted a guest commenting to another paying party guest about the relevancy topics that the comedian was using but how well he was performing. Then, He proceeded to tell my date to stop telling me how we just spoke about this. Pertaining to the comedian topics.Almost changed our whole night! There was no need for him to be that close we did just get over a pandemic! Where is my 6ft space? So what did he achieve bothering paying guests that were acting quite cordial?Definitely not the thought of safety or security! So, for that interaction is why your not 5 stars! I could understand if people were being disrespectful to the comedian!
Saw Matt Bellassai and had a great time. We got there earlier than anticipated, grabbed a drink from the bar and hung out. It was my first time at helium comedy club and it had a nice vibe. The two item minimum per person for the show was easy to do for our group as we hadn’t had dinner- and the food was pretty good. Will go back.
I was ready to praise the way that they dont seem to use ticketmaster to rip you off, but then I did a quick test and low and behold, sneaky $5 service charge for buying tickets on their website lol?! no thanks, I refuse to support this new world where we allow corporations to blatantly mislead us, if it starts here, imagine what they do to you once they have you locked in.
Enjoyed a hilarious night at Helium Comedy Club this past week. The 3 openers were all hilarious during their sets and the headliner, Ryan Sickler, finished it out strong. As for the venue itself. Comedy clubs of this size typically have fairly close seating. We paid for general admission and were placed at a small table. Fortunately, that night their werent so many guests that we had to share a table otherwise fit for 2 people with another couple. It probably wouldnt feel so bad during the show, but eating would be cramped. Thankfully we didnt have to cross that bridge. The food and drink were very good. The pizza was recommended and the pepperoni pizza that I ordered and botched the picture of was extremely good; much better than I thought it would be. My girlfriend got the chicken fingers with fries which were not the best but not terrible. The drinks we got - Peach Palmer & Blueberry Lemonade - were both strong yet delicious. Most items were about $10-15, so expect to pay about 50 if you just do the minimum 2 item per person. The service was also very welcoming from everyone we interacted with. Will definitely return for another night of laughs.
Had a great time. Helium is a nice cozy comedy club. The bar was comfortable and the drinks were good. We had great seats, literally 5 feet away from my favorite comedian.Note - there is a two item minimum once you sit down for the show (That wasnt obvious when getting tickets).
MOST IMPORTANT 1ST. This IS a 2 drink min. club, BUT there are also simple food options. ($11-16) , making it more a 2 ITEM min. So just plan on dinner there. the menu is on their website. The actual seating is perfectly fine front to back. The sides, are little (far?) wide (and the farther back, the longer the row.) And the STAGE is only about 3-4 tables x2ppl wide (BUT there are HUGE screens on either side of the tiny stage, so overall, there really are NO BAD SEATs) . Reserved seating is front half and pre-assigned BUT! you dont know where your seats are, till they sit you in them. I CAN say the front row are ALL 2ppl tables. so guess who gets those? right? And given that it IS reserved, realize that: theres NO oh can i sit here instead? Right? Because those chairs are in someone elses name. Staff is efficient and nice., AND not afraid to start settling your tab before the performance is over.- tho they do try to stay low and quiet, Just warning. The PARKING is off-street, BUT the little parking garage next door is legit, you pull in, hand the guy a $20, he gives you a ticket, and they park for (of course, they have to go get the car for you at the end).
TONY ROCK COMEDY SHOW WAS AWESOME ‼️‼️‼️, BUT THE VENUE ISNT SPACIOUS....YOU ARE DEFINITELY SITTING RIGHT ON TOP OF THE TABLE NEXT TO YOU OR IN FRONT OF YOU. MAYBE REARRANGING THE TABLE A LIL BIT MIGHT HELP....OR IF ITS NOT A SOLD OUT SHOW REMOVE SOME OF THE CHAIRS AND TABLE. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS HOW IT HAS TO BE, BUT EVERYONE ISNT CONSIDERED THAT ITS A SMALL AMOUNT OF SPACE TO WORK WITH..... BEING SAID THAT THE TABLE IN FRONT OF US WAS VERY RUDE ABOUT THE MINIMUM OF SPACE WE ALL HAD TO DEAL WITH; THE ONE GENTLEMAN KEEP ON PUSHING HIS CHAIR BACK, TO THE POINT WHERE MY COUSIN WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE, AND SHE ASKED THE COUPLE NEXT TO US ,IF SHE COULD SIT IN ONE OF THE EXTRA CHAIRS AT THEIR TABLE. BEFORE, THAT HAPPENED WE LITERALLY MOVED OUR WHOLE TABLE OVER MORE TO MAKE MORE ROOM/SPACE ‼️‼️‼️‼️ FIVE STARS FOR TONY ROCK ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really enjoyed this nightclub, Helium Comedy Club, was very entertaining, I did pay for reserved seating so I didnt have an issue with my seating in the table, everything was organized to my option, the atmosphere was nice. I enjoyed the performance, the food was very good, and it was in a good reasonable price range. I most definitely will be going again
Its a nice venue with good service. My only complaint is it happened to be the hottest day of the year, which was 100° and they did not turn on the fan/AC until the show started.
Every cute little place . The food was very good . Wish the tables were just a tad bit bigger but over all the show was very fun. Will be back.
Went to see Justin Silva tonight … 10/10 for Justin and Ashley and around and the comedians who came on before him … my only complaint was the seating. Literally felt cramped with the tables around us. If you had to get up for the bathroom you’d be interrupting the 4/5 people around you. I feel they should space it out a little more.‘I understand shows get sold out but they should find a way to fix it up instead of making everyone sit extremely close to each other to cram in.Tall guy in front row made it hard for the people behind him to even see the stage. I guess the seating was the most uncomfortable out of everything. Justin’s getting to big for these small comedy clubs …!! Justin I’ll pay to see you at MSG!
The drinks and food are steep, pricewise, but the ticket prices for the show were unbelievably low; especially for how great the talent is! Awesome venue and Ill be going back often
Saw Josh johnson here. It was great . Good food and drink. A bit overpriced but thats what you deal with when you go to a show. Staff was friendly . Plan to visit again .
I appreciated the host at the door and the seating process.Very organized. Also Tommy Miles was a great treat.
We went to watch Phillies funniest. Great acts. Amazing atmosphere. Just wish the people were allowed to vote for the winners :(
We had an absolutely amazing experience at Helium at the recent Dave Attell show! The food was good and the drinks were even better. The service was exceptional from the food delivery to drink delivery to host seating. Not a bad seat in the venue. Everything was clean. Looking forward to another show in the near future!
Of the Philadelphia comedy venues Helium is my favorite. The staff is good at moving everyone along and getting you in and seated. The bar is right outside of the stage area. The seating is close while still fitting a good crowd. The food and drinks are great and reasonably priced for a club. They also seem to get the top club acts compared to punch line. I dont mind seeing shows at any of the Philly venues but this is my favorite.
Great comedy club! Intimate setting perfect for comedy and service has always been quick. Definitely recommend checking it out.
Imagine paying for a ticket to a show and then being forced into a 2-item minimum (that way they can gouge the people under 21 too) because its an industry standard -- there are plenty of other places you can go to see comedy in Philly that dont have a drink/food minimum
The staff was EXCELLENT to me, a disabled person. I was able to go inside and sit until the show started.
My first experience! Everything was great! Energy , the staff , food ! My waitress’ was so pleasant , energized, most definitely her customer service ! SMILES🙌🏽Thank you so much to make me feel comfortable lol ! I needed this night … #justinSilva#Ashley🫶🏽#blessingsFAMILY#maggie#boston#PHL#inMEMORYofmyMOM_ 🕊️#laughFORyourSOUL_〽️
Lots of fun! The 2 item minimum order was a bit oppressive, but our server was amazing, as were the bartenders!
This comedy club is the best. ArnezJ had the crowd in tears. The atmosphere is always good and calm. The food is great!!! Cant wait to go back.
The comedy is usually very good but the food is usually just ok.I still can’t figure out how the seating ever works but if you hate your seat they will try a better spot.
Was able to contact friendly agent on chat ahead to request accessible seating for my myself and birthday guests which was conveniently fulfilled when we arrived. She answered all my questions patiently. Stage room, Room, lobby and restrooms were clean and spacious. I believe there is a small bar that does serve alcohol outside main area. It is The place had air conditioning and we sat at small tables on raised back row where the cameras were set up but was fine. It is dark and I slipped on step walking so be careful. Below us was main floor where they have both banquette and individual tables set up. Servers come around for food and drink orders. And menu is pretty decent than what I was expecting. Was packed show and I was wearing mask but not sure that made a huge difference if youre concerned about social distancing this might not be the indoor venue for you because theres no window ventilation and usually show is 1.5-2 hours.
I went here for the first time and it was really nice.I suggest you get there early, we got stuck waiting at a restaurant and ended up at the back of the line so when we got in we were put way back in a corner to two open seats and had to watch between mountain peaks of peoples heads.I think if I had been closer, it would have been really great which is why I am not leaving a bad review as that was out of their control. It was a sold out show. Pete Davidson was so funny. Worth it. The two item minimum would be the only thing I would change.
We had the best time seeing Craig Shoemaker!! Great venue.
Small, personal venue. Not a bad seat. Been to 3 shows here and service has been great. Seats are great. View is great. I have always ubered.
The staff were nice & the food was alright. Dont like the drink/item minimum but hey, who am I...
Oh, you wanna hear about Helium Comedy Club? That’s the spot in Philly where the laughs are as plentiful as cheesesteak options on South Street! Nestled right there on Sansom Street, this joint’s got more punchlines than Rocky’s got punches. It’s the kind of place where you can catch a national headliner one minute and a local jokester the next, all while sipping on something cold and pretending you’re not just there for the air conditioning. They say the shows are “no more than 60 feet away,” but let’s be real, in Philly terms, that’s close enough to smell the comedian’s aftershave or their fear. So grab your pals, ditch your diets, and head on down to Helium where the only thing tighter than the seating is the comedy! 🎭
Very easy way of ordering tickets 🎟 for the show online and I like how they provide FAQS via email and updates. We walked 🚶♂️ in , with no wait inline (after getting an Uber ride to the show ) and had Reserved seats upfront (2nd) row. It was a nice lineup of 10 comedians and we all rated them from 1-10 & turned in our ballots at the end. There is a 2 order min of food or drink ( so if you get water 💧, you must also order a 2nd drink of something else) as per policy. It was a great time and fun interactive crowd. I hope to come back for my birthday weekend to see Tommy Davidson
This a nice comedy club in the city, very close to 30 market street train station. Enjoy some laughs and few drinks. Adult atmosphere
Great comedy spot! Saw Joe Machi on a Friday night and was the funniest show Ive seen in a long time!! Did reserve seating and had a 5 star experience. Recently went to the Punch Line but Ive got to say my experience at Helium was much better. Will definitely visit this comedy club again.
From the walk to the club, to the staff, the crowd, and then Nephew Tommy and the other comedians, this was an awesome birthday present. I would make that trip again.
Went and saw Matt Rife preform! Small stage, although we sat near the end we had a decent view of him. Small tables- 2 items per person minimum- decent menu selection and portion sizes. Staff checked on us occasionally to make sure we were good. They organized the show very well- no issues at all. Local parking was convenient.
I have been to comedy clubs in a handful of cities up and down the east coast and this is a new favorite for me.The waiting area is small but comfortable and I recommend getting there early. The food and service and awesome and the servers do a great job of not being in the way during the show. There is not a bad seat in the house!
The comedy was fun with lots of laughter. But, the food we ordered was a bit cool.
Very cozy & comfortable showroom. Food & drinks were good. I loved seeing DC Curry up close. Staff were Excellent & Nice. Ill definitely be back.
The last two shows that Ive tried to attend, D.L. Hugely and Adele Givens were canceled unexpectedly. One time was ok, I guess. Twice is too much
Loved the acts but the place crams in a lot of people and it was hard to see. Service was very good. Drinks are strong. Dessert was very good as were the appetizers
Went there last night to see Ahren! The employees couldn’t have been more helpful and nice! Incredibly Managed Venue!!!! Best Night of my Life!!!
First I was very concerned for the safety of myself & guests as we were packed on top of each other not even enough room to pass between seats... thank goodness no emergency occured as there was no immediate way of escape. Secondly our drinks literally tasted like water not cool if there is a two drink minimum per perso... I know we would not mind socializing and having a good time but for $14/drink the flavor should not be WATER!!! Also our food was cold - how can you mess up finger food. 😳
Ample parking near by, staff was very accommodating and professional, great experience from ticket purchase, drinks, food, show and after show meet & greet
The only good thing I have to say about this place is that Mike at the door was very pleasant and helpful. He would get 5 stars. We had to pick up tickets from a ticket counter and could only do so at a certain time. (Electronic tickets would have been more convenient.) Accessing the show area was chaotic. People were crowded into bar areas to clear a path for people to exit from the previous show. It was a long wait standing around, and it was hot. People were getting irritable, and drunk people were picking fights about who was there first. There was no order to this process. At the end, when I managed to get out ahead of my friends, I waited at the front exit and sat down as I was already tired from standing for 3+ hours before the show. A bouncer came over and told me I couldnt sit there. His tone was unnecessary. I was perfectly sober and minding my own business. It was the last show of the night so nobody needed that chair at the door. I literally got up and stood next to it, and that seemed to be fine. I dont want to think it was racially motivated, but I cant be sure. I love spending time with friends, but this experience was not worth the aggravation.
Place was small but cozy. Had a great brownie sundae that was 10/10 recommend!
Show was great, food is mid, drinks were tasty but weak (i.e., no buzz after two double Jameson drinks) but the real reason for the 3 stars is how they cram people at the tables for a sold out show. 3 people in my party, 5 people at the table and felt so bad as one person had zero room at the table, makes no sense especially when you serve food. I would probably still return for someone I really wanted to see but definitely reserved seats.
Great comedy spot in Center City. Amazing talent of comedians come through here. Cool vibes inside. There is a bar, and they have food service for basic apps like chicken fingers and wings. They have a great set up with Covid restrictions now, temp checking while you walk in and tables set 6 ft apart.
I had a great date night on friday with my man! there were two openers and the main guy dustin nickerson - SO FUNNY! our server amanda was great! she told us about a great deal on two shots for $13 total which is pretty good for philly. we ordered a personal pizza and it came out pretty quick. over all great night and great entertainment!
This is a cozy, comedy club. The host, opening act and headliner was hilarious.
Went to a themed afternoon event that was a mix of local talent and a small group of traveling comedians. My date and I had some appetizers and drinks which were very nice for a comedy place. Having a two person date for just over $100 is a rarity, let alone one with entertainment.Never had a bad time at Helium and these non-headliner shows are often just as funny as the big names.
Great location. We really enjoyed seeing Eden Shers I Was On a Sitcom!
Saw Dave Landau 11/6/21. Club was small so no seat was a bad seat. It is very spendy 2 tickets were $80 then 2 apps, and 4 beers (cans they would not bring us bottles) were $78.00. The club and the bathrooms were super clean, the staff was ok, and the show was phenomenal. -------------->11/29/21 Follow up after owner comments. - To be clear---->The $78.00 for some frys and cans of coorslight was WAYYYY over the top. We only showed up for Landau, I dont think I could bring myself to pay that for one of your usual shows. Just charge what you need to for tickets so people know in advance what the night out will cost, and do away with the hidden mystery check at the end!
Its an intimate venue that features mostly top comics as well as local and up-and-coming folks. Casual dress (jeans and sneaks), so the dress code is pretty relaxed. You do have to be at least 21 to enter (but 18+ are allowed provided theyre accompanied by someone at least 30 years old, and the 18 year old must wear a bracelet that denotes he/she cannot be served alcohol). Theres also a two-item minimum purchase thats required after entering the showroom, but the food is worth it and its reasonably priced. After the show, if you have a VIP tix, you get to meet and greet the comics and take pictures with them. This is my second time there, and I had fun both times, first time was with Bruce Bruce last year, just recently was with the Hodgetwins. Just be prepared to laugh out loud, but also be aware that the material is considered R-rated due to language and sexual content, so if youre not familiar with a comics work, research online.
The room is awesome! Fairly big yet still felt intimate. Sound is great. Service is good too. Two item minimum aint horrible but still wonder why clubs have this rule. Bake the cost into the ticket price and let me buy however many items I want, even if its one beer.
Had some snacks and great drinks, me n friends loved the comedians! Parking was pretty good, loved the interior design of the club, the server taking our order was supper nice. Cant say enough good stuff, definitely recommend.
Me and the wife laughed all night. Seating was just as amazing as the staff! Food and drink prices are as good as youll get anywhere else. Will be returning!
Great show Lavelle Crawford and the crew killed it perioood! Lol
This was our third visit to Helium Comedy Club, and we always have a great time. The food is good, prices are reasonable and the lineup is typically great. Our last visit the headliner was Brittany Carney, who was just amazing, funny was a smart twist. Just ❤️ going there.
I went to see Shuler King at the Helium Comedy Club about a week ago. And I really had a great time he was HILARIOUS. I was very impressed with the club itself, very nice and hospitable staff and good food as well made the experience that much more fun. I will be returning again thumbs up 👍.
They really cram a lot of people into a small space, and the food is mediocre. But the comedians Ive seen there are always funny.
It always has great employees. Wish the table in front row wasnt so tight together
They had no formal line for the 10pm show Friday night and it was too crowded to not have order!! Worst thing is I got COVID that same night from this location!! I’ll never attend this venue for any comedian or artist!! Needs hella work! And they make you buy UNHEALTHY FOOD! I’m vegan and they forced me to buy food and drinks when I don’t consume any of it!!! Worst establishment ever!!! Way too crowded way too small for all the people who were there!!! Horrible place!!!
This was my first time at the helium club and I was thoroughly impressed with the professionalism of the staff, especially Sarah. She made our experience so amazing. We’re so happy to be coming back this weekend for another show. I would definitely recommend this venue for anyone who wants a good laugh in Philly.
Had a ball with comedian Tony Roberts. He is. hilarious. His routine is non stop and will have your sides aching.I dont like that the club has updated to a two minimum of a meal and drink requirement. Not good for persons on a restricted diet. Other than that..this is my go-to spot for fun. Waiting for an appearance from Earthquake..😉
I would like to leave you feedback on our 6.11.23 7:30 pm show experience. Our group of 8 reserved tickets weeks ago, on the site it specifically stated if you would like to be sat together in a group to specify the name of the group when reserving. Our group all stated we would like to be sat with our last name.Upon arrival at the show we were told that we had to sit separately at 2 different tables with 3-4 more tables between us. The gentleman helping us advised his boss of this. They basically said nothing they can do and said “for future you need to call and make the establishment aware you want to be seated together.” I informed them that we had done this weeks ago, they again said sorry for future you need to do that. This was disappointing as it was for a friends birthday and we could not even sit with her or have the show experience with her that we paid extra to sit together instead of general admission. Also wanted to mention the email we received prior to the show discussing the 2 item minimum should have been better explained. We were under the impression that if we were to order something that we must have a minimum of 2 items, not that we were forced to purchase 2 items. I was not expecting to put out more money on top of the extra money we paid to have reserved seating that we did not even receive.
Nice place for the price of the tickets. Staff is always nice . A few suggestions though... change the menu items sometimes and give special rewards for people that come frequently.
Will call window was polite. Bartender was a great guy. Food was good. The seating is tight for people on the heftier side such as myself. Ill def be back.
As soon as my fiance and I walked in we were carded and then checked in to get our tickets. The girl at the counter let us know we could stay and hang out in the lounge area or walk around Philly until the show started. We thanked her and decided to check out the lounge area waiting for the showroom. The bartender was perky and menu knowledgeable. When ever I visit a new place I love to try their house cocktails. The place started to get pretty busy before the show which is always a good thing. After show doors opened to begin seating they assigned tables to accommodate party size which was cool. The only thing not cool was that you could not use your cell phone during the show. I mean I get it, but I dont. Other than that, the 3 comics were relatable and we lold a lot. Definitely reccomend to go as a date night or friends hanging out.
My visit was unplanned but I was able to grab tickets right before the show started. The comedy show was great. Even though its not clearly marked inside the venue where you pay for your tickets they do require a 2 drink minimum for each person. No work around because they will kick you out if you dont conform.
I will definitely not be attending any future shows at Helium after being scammed by their drink prices. The waitress told us that they had 2 for 1 green tea shots. We ordered a round of these, and then when we got the bill, we found out they were $13 for a single shot! I’ve lived in Philly for several years now and have never paid more than $8-9 for a shot anywhere. This place is clearly banking on people being drunk and not noticing the ridiculous prices on their tabs. No one in their right mind would ever order a green tea shot somewhere knowing it was $13.
Nice intimate atmosphere with great drinks. Appetizers were just ok like who doesnt have bone in wings BUT every seat is a good seat!
Great place to see a show! Small setting, good food, great view from any seat! We have seen some really big names here!
First and foremost the staff there is exceptional 👏! Accommodating, kind and the service is great. The comics opening for DL Hugley are hilarious and Mr Hugley was great. And there are two parking lots on Samson St. right next to the Club. Even my husband who doesnt leave the house had a great time.
Went to Helium for the first time in a long time this past weekend for a friend’s stand up showcase. Had an excellent time and the jokes were only part of the great experience. Food and drink service was great during the show, highly recommend the French fries. Looking forward to more shows in the future!
Enjoyed need more seating but overall not bad
Fun place to go, easily accessible. A pretty intimate setting. I have only been there to see Maria Bamford on two separate occasions. The food is meh, but thats not why youre there. Staff is super nice.
Horrible hospitality. I will never patronize this place again. The first two times were good. The third time was potentially the worst customer service experience that I have ever experienced in my life.Lets begin. Today is my birthday. My sons last class is at 6:45. We stopped to get food, because he was hungry. The closest parking garage was full, so I told him to go and get the tickets. Naturally, he took the food. I had a bag with outside food before and nothing happened. We ordered things here and that was that.I get to the club and I see my son standing eating like a pig trying to rush and finish, so I asked him what was going on and a lady named Michelle replied with a nasty attitude and I wasnt even talking to her. Thats mistake number one and I ended up asking her if she was ok, because of her nasty, condescending attitude. So, were both eating and here comes the assistant GA to investigate. I guess Michelle called him. I really wanted to leave, but my son said to stay and not waste the money. I just didnt want to waste any more money buying food. My son is a Wharton School of Business star student. I am embarrassed about how we were treated at this establishment. Its not what you say, its how you say it. Thats simple business management...Needless to say, we wont be returning. I would have just left my food with her, but I didnt want to risk her spitting in it. Sorry, thats just how I felt. I really had to apologize to my son. Gladly, Im not letting this place ruin my birthday. I hope that the owner takes the time to ensure that his establishment provides a positive and inviting atmosphere. I boycott based on customer service.
Most recently attended the DC Curry with comedian Tony Tone as a host as well was great. The content was funny, historical, brave, trendy, and informative. Street parking is at a very minimum, but theres plenty of parking lots. Im not sure if discounts are offered with the Helium ticket. That would be a plus. My only issue with Helium is the 2 order minimum even after a purchase for tickets. The order menu is not vast, and everyone doesnt drink nor wants to spend 4 or 5 dollars for water or soda in a glass (soda). Everyone doesnt eat meat or chicken, etc.... I was forced to order, which is understood. I ordered pretzel bites for $11.49 and soda. I dont usually count the pretzel bites; however, when the container size exhibits the bottom easily, I counted 10 bites in total. The pretzel bites were Luke warm, yet tasty. I think there should have been a little more for the money.Entertainment is great at Helium. Up the scale to a great light appetizer/snack menu as well, and youll knock competitors out of the park.
The venue is intimate and parking is easy. Plenty of drinks and food choices!
Came to see Michael Collier, all the comedians gave us good laughter, only problem was the place is overcrowded. Our tables where so close together I had to sweeze to get in, we literally were sitting on top of each other.
Our server was great. View from the back was ok. I swear the food was just ding food and the Mac and cheese bites and buffalo chicken had a weird flavor. How do you mess those up?? The double drinks we had we didnt feel at all but tasted good. I didnt get a receipt but I think doubles were about $20-25 each. Its overpriced for having a 2 item per person minimum. Probably not coming back here unless its someone I really want to see.
Park ANYWHERE besides that garage right next door! Save your time, dont go down Sansom Street (from 17th/18th/19th)!!! Itll be grid locked with people simply trying to park in that adjacent lot.🙄🙄🙄 There are lots at 21st and Sansom. Go AROUND the club traffic. Park and walk the block back. About the same price and Well worth it! I was here for the #SlightlyProblematicTour w/Kevonstage. The club itself is lovely. Nice set up. Enjoyed myself. But DO NOT PARK NEXT DOOR! Or even try to. I was on THAT BLOCK of Sansom by 6:40 but was almost late to the 7pm show due to that foolishness! ~15 minutes for ONE BLOCK?!
Tony Rock was so funny 1 of the best stand-up comedy shows Ive been too!!!!!!!!!!
Great place and an amazing experience. Check in and hit the bar for drinks. Once they open the room they assign you a table. Then you have table service where you can get food and drinks. They have both great food and amazing drinks. There is a 2 item per person limit but everything is included i those. Drinks, food, and soda. Overall a great time.
Had a great time. They had a pretty decent selection of food items and drinks. The club is in good shape. The staff is good. The headliner; Brad Williams, was absolutely funny (Hes a Little Person). I would definitely go back
Great food and beverage service. Servers are fast, efficient and acrobatic considering how tight the aisles are while delivering orders and making transactions. Top notch professionals. Food was solid, drinks were delicious and prices were reasonable. Comedians tonight killed it. First time ever at Helium, we will definitely be going back!
It was my first time there but I cant wait to go back! The venue is a decent size, drinks and food were good. Remember there is a two item per person requirement. The drinks ordered at the bar DO NOT COUNT towards this. You will enjoy yourself. I was able to find street parking right at the front door too.
Small and they have a 2 purchase minimum here . If you purchase drinks or food while you are waiting , it Does NOT count when you go.in to be seated . I saw DL hughley here show was good!
I kept going back and forth between 2 and 4 stars, but landed on four since it’s a comedy club, ultimately, and the comedy was amazing. The acts were hilarious and I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. That being said, the food and drinks are, well, just ok. I ordered the “blood orange old fashioned,” which was served over ice and WAY too sweet. It seemed like orange juice and bourbon. Then we got the Kentucky mule. It was fine. Not great, but not bad. We ordered the pretzel bites and I was shocked. There were maybe 7 or 8 pretzel pieces that could not have been bigger than my thumb fingertip. Served with “beer cheese” which was canned cheese sauce with no discernible beer taste. Look, I get that they’re not a food and drinks place, but I feel like for what they charge for the food and drinks it should be better food than the Costco frozen section and the drinks should at least be an attempt at actual cocktails. I will happily even pay more for the food but make it actually worth it. It was so bad that it was the only thing we were kind of irritated by, but the server was extremely friendly and attentive and again, the comedy was top. I have no issue with the two item minimum, it’s standard. No worries, but next time we will be ordering whatever the absolute cheapest items are and eating and drinking before we get there. If they started making an attempt with the food and drinks; I’ll happily pay for them.
Great comedy venue. Dont get caught up in the hype. See the comics before they break through. Very intimate venue with a two item requirement. Whether drinks (which they have an impressive list of) or food ( also a great deal depending on how hungry you are.) It doesnt matter what your stance on boozing it up is. This venue doesnt disappoint every seat is a great one and the talent they bring never disappoints.
This place was great we had an amazing time. We waited in line for awhile for the show to start so only recommendation is to get there at least 30 mins prior to show time. The food was good and the drinks were better.
Always an enjoyable night. They always get nationally well known comics. Drinks, food always great. Love the gummi bear cocktail. Not sure why they have the most uncomfortable seats in the world. Spend a little and get padded seats for your patrons.
High quality comedy experience. Great seating, comfy lounge area, delicious food, unique cocktails- and above all, service that goes above and beyond when you are a guest at this venue. I’d recommend Helium Comedy Club to anyone. I’ve brought my Mom here. I’ve brought my best friends here. I’m so glad I found them on Instagram where they regularly post upcoming shows from A-List and newer comedians. Never been disappointed here.Edit: for the best viewing experience, a reserved ticket is the best option to guarantee optimal and comfortable seating for you and your party.
I showed up slightly after the events starting time and before the main act went on. When I got to the venue, I found out Helium had sold my tickets. Whats more, they refused to give me any refund after I called and explained the situation. Not even partial credit to a new show. I would not recommend this place to anyone who has other engagements in the city prior to the show, as your tickets -- and your money -- are at risk. And for those whove bought tickets, read the fine print. This place will scam you in a way you wouldnt expect from a reputable venue.
Went to the Helium Comedy Club last night to see Brad Upton. Pat House was also there as well as Hannah. Had a fantastic time. The food was fantastic, the service was great. Our waitress was attentive and on point as we finished the meal to bring out the dessert. Laughed all night and had the opportunity to meet Brad and Pat, get autographs and pictures after the show. Parking was easy as there are three lots less then a block away. if you like comedy and need something to do, check out the Helium Comedy Club
We went to Helium on Mothers Day for Ur Mom Is Funny, a game show featuring comedians and their moms. What makes this show great is the unpredictability of the contestants, especially the Moms! Hosts Hannah Trav and Pete Steele did an amazing job. The club itself is great. Friendly staff, good food and drink, and a great atmosphere!
I had an amazing time this past friday night. The vibes were great, the comedians were hilarious, the food was delicious, and the drinks were very tasty! I will definitely be returning as soon as possible!
Came from NYC to see Darren Fleet. You should see him too. Helium is a comfortable club with good food (the Mac n Cheese, folks) parking in lots and even on street.
Nice cozy very warm atmosphere. Good shows good food ..
Kevin Nealon show was excellent - staff were friendly and helpful
Been here twice and loved both shows! Great food and drinks. So much better than seeing comedy in a theater. The comics are just a few feet away. Such a fun place!
Came to see Todd Glass on a Friday. Service and atmosphere werent bad, and at least the loud annoying party behind us got removed (justifiably!) But my bf and I definitely feel like we spent way too much for what we got. First of all, an $8 convenience fee per ticket is practically extortion. Then our tab came to over $100 for four drinks and two apps. And the chicken and fries basket had maybe 3 tiny chicken tenders and 90% fries. And the chips with the dips were way too salty.
Nice place, great people, fun shows.
TLDR:Went to a show with 4 drinkers but the bar tab was $35 due to poor seating arrangement. We were disappointed with our seats and decided to not drink until we go somewhere else after the show. The experience with staff made us rethink coming back to Helium.Review:I went to Helium for a second time after a great experience in 2019. This time, we bought tickets specifically to be away from the front. We were pretty early but the host still sat us so tight it ruined the show. Everyone seated around us has access to an aisle, but 3rd row does not. My group realized we were screwed the minute we sat.If anyone in our party had needed to go to the bathroom we would have been required to ask 4-8 strangers to stand up from their tables midshow only to do the same labor again when we returned. After discussion we agreed to wait out the show and go somewhere after before starting to drink / create a large bar tab.We felt bad for the staff because she kept coming back are you sure you guys dont want anything?? She must have interrupted the performance 7-8 times in a 70-minute set.I was so embarrassed when the waitress interrupted the end of the show to remind me theres a 2 drink minimum. Made me feel small. Everytime she interupted the show we would miss a significant portion of the performance. She looked at me like I was an a-hole since I was closest to her view.
Slightly congested in the auditorium. I felt stuck against the railing with minimal space to maneuver. Overall, pleasant experience. Enjoyed the show and selection of comics. Id rather similar places increase the price of the ticket and offer the choice of whether or not I want to purchase food or beverages. I dont visit such places to eat, I visit for comedy.
The comedian we saw was awesome, but this was our first time at Helium and we were honestly shocked at the seating and food. Seats were so tight that I was constantly touching the strangers next to me (with my friend stuck directly behind me yet somehow at the same tiny table) and the 2 item minimum was a bit ridiculous, especially with the food being what seemed like frozen appetizers.
Ive been here quite a few times in the past 15 years or so. Usually 2 to 4 times a year pre-covid. I returned for my first time since the pandemic started. I really like the atmosphere here. The servers and other staff are great. We really like the two item minimum instead of two drink minimum. They are able to bring in some pretty big names as well as local talent. I definitely recommend.
I’ve been going to Helium for years! The show I went to most recently was FANTASTIC!! But I simply HATED being packed in that place like sardines. I wish there was a better way.
Such a great experience. Had lots of fun
This was my first time here. I absolutely loved it and had a wonderful time. Went to see Schuler King that I follow on YouTube. He did not disappoint and had me in tears. There is a 2 minimum purchase per person. I ordered a sunset drink and the sampler tray. This was delicious and the drink was just right for me. The wait staff was very nice as well as the lady for ticket check in. There is a parking garage right next door. It was $20 and they take the car and park it. So be mindful when the show is over how long it may rake to get your car. We waited for autograph and pictures with Shuler. So when we were done it did not take long to get the car back. Just a small note if you are in a rush to leave go right to the garage or find street parking. Otherwise I say go and enjoy yourself with good food and drinks and be entertained. The crowd was nice and friendly and of mixed age groups and cultures. I will definitely go back.
The venue and staff are great. I took off a star because 2 out of the 5 toilets were broken in the ladies room and we had to wait in line FOREVER to pee.
Cute spot. Comedians were funny, and the audience was respectful.
Our service was great. The staff is always friendly and bring out the drinks quickly. My issue is that Ive been here several times over the years and the seating arrangements just keep getting worse. I dont mind sharing a table with someone or being on the secondary level when Im not paying for VIP. I do mind having a chair thats crammed in with 4 other chairs not even at a table. I had to ask the person who sat us which two chairs were ours because she pointed to an area in the corner with no table. Either dont over book or make sure other guests arent moving chairs around. The greed of Helium or the talent really makes me not want to go back.
I saw Arnez J Saturday afternoon. He put on a great show!
I have no complaints about the comedienne we saw but the event was sold out and I dont feel the space is fully utilized. Barely room to move especially if you have to be sat at a table with other guests. Food was alright but the drinks and cocktails were delicous.
I was here to see Matt Rife. Venue was cool. Had a very intimate feel to it. Not a fan of the two item minimum from the menu. I get that this is industry standard, but it shouldnt be.
Awesome stand up. Great drinks. Snacks perfect. We had pretzels, nachos, and fries. Seating is good. At home feel. Chill atmosphere.
The performance of the comedians were great..I truly enjoyed all three..The food was cooked to perfection and tasty. The waitress was friendly and she was working extremely hard but had a great smile. I will be returning to the club in a couple of weeks for more fun. Thanks for a great evening.
This was my first time here and my daughter and I loved it. Get rhe Brotherly Love drink with a double shot. You will thank me later. The food wasnt bad and the staff was wonderful.
Parking was easy, Drew Lynch was amazing, sat in front row. Was a little crowded and was a little difficult wearing a mask for that long but in the end well worth it. Wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Overall I would go there again in a heartbeat. Great job at making peoples days a little brighter!!!!!!
My first time there. A little expensive, but nice.
Came here for a show with 8 people arrived just a few minutes after 7:30pm, they were about to close the door on us, we barely just made it, but we were seated together which I appreciated. The room was busy but not completely sold out so that might explaiin why we were able to sit together. One thing that was extremely uncomfortable was the chairs/tables its really not realistic how tightly packed the table is to each other and the seats were uncomfortable. It felt really really cramped, they should definitely invest in putting more comfortable seats and tables at the comedy club it would really improve the experience. The food was surprisingly good, I had the chicken tenders and fries and the chicken tenders were moist and meat was tender, fries were fresh and meaty. Onion rings were decent but I wouldnt get again. Only the chicken tender and fries. The two item minimum is a bit tough as well but overall, we enjoyed the comedy show.Parking was street metered parking, very tough, I had to park at a garage a block away $25.
Great venue with a great staff!! The menu offers a good choice of food and full bar! The artists… well I had a great time with Scott Seiss!! Absolutely loved it!
Ive been here twice and the servers both times have been top notch! Your required to purchase 2 items per person(this does not include anything purchased from the bar pre-show). The food has been fresh and the drink menu keeps up to date. Make sure you flip the menu over because they have lots more available on the back. Table runners are on point. I do recommend getting a table reserved for your size party. If they are a sold out show you can be seated with another group( kinda cruise dinning style). Also recommend arriving 30mins prior if you have mixed seating for a better table. Cozy atmosphere, all angles of view great. Not a stadium, your all up close to see the show.
Show is always perfect, but noticed food has really gone down in quality over last few years, but the show is amazing, regardless of performer, which is main point of comedy clubs, we also love that unlike other clubs, the 2 item minimum can be applied to food items
Lots of fun. Nice atmosphere. Waiter was great. Even the customers were polite and went out of their way to ensure our comfort. And the comedy was great fun from most of the participants. It was a wonderful first experience.
Always a good time seeing a show here. The venue is intimate, so be prepared to sit close to other people in attendance. Food, service, and drinks are good. I believe there is a two item minimum. If you want to park close, you will have to pay or arrive early to drive around trying to find parking in busy downtown.
Had the BEST time at Helium club! All of the acts were amazing and the layout of the space was perfect. Quick service and amazing experience!
Awesome shows clean environment very friendly employees
I go to Helium to see a comedy show every chance I get on a Friday night after work. I spend about $50 - $60 for a ticket, beer, chip n dip, and tip. I have fun all by myself!!! Love me some me😍
This was my first time at The Helium Club and I must say the show was amazing. Me and my husband had a great time on our date night. Our seats was great, waitress was awesome, and the food and drinks was good. Our night was fun with lots of laughs. We are definitely coming back for another great time out!!!!
Helium Comedy Club, is a great time. Offering 2 show times which is a great option. Comedians featured the night we visited, so entertaining, Matthew Broussard was featured comedian. The lineup was also very good. The second comedian was so funny. The staff from bartenders, kitchen staff and wait staff superb. This was 3rd visit to Helium while visiting Philadelphia and always a good time. Looking forward to my 4th visit. Thanks again Helium Comedy Club for a great experience and great evening!! Karen Wenrich
Last night was our 1st time at the Helium Club but it wont be the last. Quaint venue with friendly and attentive staff. Food and drink were tasty. For grown folks with no drama who just want a fun evening out!
The club itself is decent venue. Nice staff, 2 item minimum per person from the menu, ordering from the bar before the show if youre not seated doesnt count towards your minimum. Just know that. Cocktails were not that good (especially for the price). Would stick to beer or wine next time. I didnt get food but it looked like standard bar type food. Place was packed, so if youre a covid phobic person, probably should just watch your favorite comedian at home.
Im not crazy about the tight seating at this venue, but the staff really goes above and beyond to do their job. Service is superb. Hope theyll add some vegan food to the menu for my next visit!EDIT: its 3 years later. No vegan food options at all.
