Lolas Room

Paid $15 cover charge to get into Lolas room for 90s night for my friends birthday and had to leave after an hour because it was so unforgivably hot in there that we couldnt stand it. Temperature that day was in the 90s (no pun intended) and even hotter inside especially with how many people were there. There was one single fan to cool the entire bar filled with tons of people dancing which wasnt even big enough to circulate the air in the room. Thought we could go outside to cool off but they dont allow re-entry so we were stuck in the heat. I will still go to Lolas room for a drink if I have a show at crystal ballroom but I absolutely will not go back outside of that with the cover charge being that high and the heat being so unbearable.

Your city is in shambles. There are junkies bleeding out of sores on every corner. Despite all of that I was trying to make the best of this nightmare of a city. I was standing on the corner waiting for my friend to smoke a cigarette. I was rearranging the contents of my purse, and the bouncer for this club ran up on me and grabbed the pot out of my hand. I wasn’t even smoking it. It was a roach inside of a tube that I smoked earlier at my Airbnb and didn’t have an ashtray for. I just put it back in the tube it came in. I was just rearranging my purse and looking for my lipgloss. This is a miserable place to be. I’m so happy I don’t live here.

Easily the worst music venue in Portland, and worst McMenamin’s location anywhere. My husband and I usually love going to concerts and events at different McMenamin’s locations, but we won’t go back to Lola’s room. Rude staff, disappointing music and overpriced both for cover and drinks.

This place has to be the worst. We bought tickets for a special event and they didn’t even tell us that the event was closing 30min afterwards. The DJ himself didn’t know that the party was shutting down. It was an amazing event to experience, as it was half full and they closed the party 1h30 beforehand. Just know that this place will try to trick you into paying more for no reason. They were even making fun of us

They closed 30 min after we purchased the tickets without telling us anything. There was no closing time on their event website. We often come here to other types of events and they closed 2 hours before usually . When we complaint they were even making fun of us. I will never come back here.

All the staff is really nice! Love the dance flashback nights. I will say that the drinks are pretty pricey for not giving a buzz at all, and it is suuuuper hot in there so I had to take away a star. They could definitely add some more fans on the dance floor! Overall good vibe :)

Such a fun place to go dancing. Theres metal detectors at the entrance and they search all bags. Full bar with great cocktails and beer on tap. However its super hot and theres no A/C. Itd be nice if the added fans. Otherwise great place to go dancing. Highly recommend.

I appreciate the inclusive venues they hold, however their “safety” policies don’t seem very safe. I was asked to leave my drink on an open table unattended (where everyone had to pass by to get to the restroom) while I use the restroom. Most women would feel uncomfortable leaving their drinks unattended. Yet that wasn’t considered. Fix this policy. Not okay to put women inUnnecessarily vulnerable situations.

Nice and intimate for concerts, but the sound quality is lacking compared to their bigger area. That being said, the Miyavi concert was still amazing!

Came down to visit come friends. The 90/2000s night was dope on Saturday. Good vibes and played good 90s and 2000s song we stayed until about 1am

This place is so amazing!! We went for 90s night and it was awesome! They have 2 giant screens that play the music videos and the trampoline dance floor and later lights and disco balls and fans. Really big fans you can dance in front of so your not too sweaty. Was a good deal. Only bad thing was they dont allow re entry. Buts its only $8 cover.

We had our wedding here last November. Everything was fantastic! The prices were incredibly reasonable, great food, staff was beyond accommodating, and the reception manager was quick to address and put out minor fires as they came. We wouldnt have chosen another venue and encourage everyone to choose Lolas Room for their special day!

Visited recently from Los Angeles. It was 80s night. A lot of fun! The music was good, the drinks not too expensive. Cons: 1. the floor was very bouncy! Felt like it was going to break through the bottom. 2. No in and outs on the night we went 3. No smoking patio

Tonight was my first time here. Not exactly what I expected. They could definitely use some extra seating especially if they are going to make make a bunch of the tables reserved for a party that never actually used any of them.. this evening was 80s night. The music was okay but it was a lot of the less popular music.

Always a fun time. Good variety in music love watching the videos while dancing. Lights going lots of happy people everywhere. Drink prices are a bit steep though considering the cover charge.

Ive been here multiple times for shows and dancing. The first time was for a birthday party, dancing to 90s music. Overall it was a good time, but the space is not air conditioned, so Id avoid it in the summers when the days approach 100 degrees. Unless youre into being drenched in sweat and swimming in the stank of your fellow dancers.The second time I went was for the Real Estate concert. The show was good, but one of the bartenders was aggressive and rude. Of course it was a little busy, but there were at least 4 bartenders working. Ive come to expect pretty bad service typical of the Portland 20 somethings who think theyre too good for their jobs because they got an MFA in ceramics or something, but this guy was in a league of his own. I wish I wouldve got his name. It may have just been an isolated incident, but the beer board above the bar simply said IPA along with the remaining beers listed by name, IBU, ABV etc. I asked the guy what the IPA was, and he said its just the IPA in a mocking tone. It doesnt have a name? I asked. He said, do you actually care what it is? Its the IPA. 99% of the time, if someone wants an IPA, theyll take whatever IPA we have. Do you want it or not? I was just taken aback by the attitude. I hadnt done or said anything to be treated that disrespectfully. I enjoy some McMenamins beers, I dont like others. I didnt think it was too much to ask what kind of beer I was about to pay 5 or 6 dollars to drink.

Great venue that has concerts, a regular 80s video dance party/attack, and can be rented out for private events. Theres a spattering of tables and chairs around the fringe of the bar, but get on the dance floor and shake what your momma gave you!

Love going here for the 80s & New Wave VDA nights. Fun place to meet friends & grab a craft beer or hard cider (McMenamins, of course). It has a smaller version of the Crystal Ballrooms bouncy dance floor (which is upstairs). Downside is that it gets hot when packed as the air is lacking & the womens bathroom always ends up with one toilet overflowing (its shared with the Ballroom).

My friends id expired so the bouncer at the door wouldnt let her in. We are in our 40s, so I dont see what the big deal was. We barhopped before and after that with no issues but this dude was a douche. Make sure you have a valid id in to get into some of these hole in the wall clubs.

I have visited lolas Room every few weeks going on the last year. The staff is excellent and the D js actually take song requests. I have seen the bartenders refuse to serve people when they were over intoxicated. I have seen both bartenders and security diffuse extremely tense situations. I witnessed a few times staff members taking the time to console someone who is obviously had a very badd day or badd eveningLike most mcmenamin its properties lolas Rome is run with care

Great Venue. Small enough to feel intimate, large enough to not feel crowded. Very enjoyable experience, will keep an eye out for future shows here

My favorite venue in portland. 90s night always has great vibes, sweating dancing and quick bartending.

Im still upset over the last time we were here, but this time we got comfortable sofa seats, water was provided for free, the nerdcore show was hopping, and the staff was nice to the artists and fans. Thanks for stepping it up.

This place is very over-priced and food and drinks are very so-so. It is often way over-crowded and, therefore, quite hot and stuffy. Its a lovely place and very cozy, but just not worth it for the price and the crowd.

An 80s gal at a 90s dance party. Had a ball with friends for a birthday celebration. Not too crowded. Great time.

Good atmosphere for a mixer, pretty good waitstaff for a McMenamins. The meat pizza was good, as were the spanikopita.

My favorite is a tease dance attack its always crowded but they have great bartenders and super fast service one of my favorite places to go dancing

It was a Friday night and it was 80s night !Really fun place. People were a bit crazy but good crazy.

Not a great venue for a concert, more of a dance floor. There wasnt a stage, so we couldnt see anything.
