So yes its a little pricey. But they were able to get us in at the last moment . They have fantastic live events. Karaoke , a spa with fantastic options and Sunday brunch is to die for. 12 bottomless mimosas . Seriously and the rooms were so nice.
We had a gift cert for lunch and a massage. This is a great place to relax by the pool, tiki bar area, or hot tub. They have a sauna area too, but it currently under maintenance, so we could not use it. Our massages were great. Every provider does things a little differently. You can get manicures, pedicures, facials, and massages. Wraps and whatnot. This is certainly a full service spa. Pricey? Yes, but they are always running specials on their gift cards. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I cant wait to go back for a facial. Parking is hit or miss, so i opted for valet so i didnt have to keep circling the lot. To me, it was worth the $15.
I love safety harbor, the rooms were clean a little outdated. The pool was amazing. We love the spa experience. The staff was friendly. Daniel was amazing when we got to the hotel he took the time to show us around. We didnt experience any haunted events i love the history of the hotel and would definitely come back.
Go for the spa and the mineral water pools! Staff is excellent! These guys care about this place and it shows. Spa services were excellent! One con - rooms need a little refreshing, at least in the area we stayed in. It is a historical property so they may be limited in what they can do, but I would like to see better beds, better seating options, and updated carpeting. Safety Harbor is lovely. You won’t be sorry if you stay here.
My friend and I came for the day and had the Head-to-Toe spa package booked for about 2 months beforehand, had facials, massages and pedicures, and had an amazing day! I was kinda bummed the steam room was out of order for the next 6 weeks, but we spent around 7 hours here total using the sauna and plunge pool, and spent a lot of time at the Tiki bar between spa services (we didn’t want to work out- otherwise there are a bunch more amenities and classes available throughout the day).Overall an excellent experience and if you’re looking for a fun way to spend a day and treat yourself, you’ll enjoy this!
Everything about this resort was so charming and the views of Old Tampa Bay were remarkable... We had the most amazing stay, 72 hours filled with self care, living at the spa, wall to wall art, even a history hall, walks on the trail & pier... We had the best massages weve had in a long time. The food was so amazing, EVERYDAY..lol.. Saturdays are very vibrant, It definitely is not giving a super old feel at all.. Happy Centennial to you all!.. We will be returning soon..
Hotel is a bit outdated but its a great value with old world charm and decor. The outdoor pool and bar area is always inviting with a great lunch selection. LOVE the spa and try to make it a half week spacation annually. Brought my Granddaughter this trip. Her therapist made it a great first facial.
My mom and I got spa services with lunch included and we overall had a decent experience with a few hiccups.I booked the spa services and lunch in advance and when we arrived, we were greeted kindly, but told the person who originally booked our services “booked it wrong”, despite having written confirmations printed in advance. They still accommodated what services were on our booking confirmations. Before we started our spa services, we had lunch and the meal was very good.Once we started our spa experience, I was extremely happy that the robe options were size inclusive and the spa atmosphere was clean, but the air conditioner wasn’t working well in certain areas, which they were fixing during our visit. The Swedish massage I got from Deni was really wonderful. Deni listened to what I had to say about areas to focus on and provided a really great massage. I appreciated his technique and I feel great post massage. If someone is looking for a quiet massage, the walls between massage rooms are really thin, so you will hear people chatting or laughing in other rooms. That part didn’t bother me, but I wanted to mention for those who prefer a quiet experience. When my spa services were over, most water coolers in waiting and locker rooms were empty. When I checked out, there was confusion with each employee I spoke with regarding if gratuity was or wasn’t Included in the spa services I got. This made it difficult to determine the best and accurate tip for my massage.Overall, my massage with the masseuse I had was fabulous, which gives this review the majority of stars, but I feel other things need some work at this location.
Steve Combs is EXTREMELY customer service oriented and shows a GENUINE concern for customer. I am celebrating the 23 anniversary of me and my sweetheart, Robin. Steve made us feel very welcomed unlike the gentlemen working today when we arrived at 200 pm to checkin.
Bad stuff: no springs! They talk about the springs, but they are gone. What? This is why we came. Half the staff are good but half the staff are surely. You have to ask for them to clean your room. What? I know you have to ask for fresh towels but now you have to ask for your room to be cleaned at all. Hard to get coffee except in the restaurants. Good: interesting place, great massage, good spa services, good food. Weekend was 50/50.
Old-school charm with modern conveniences and beautiful views. We thoroughly enjoyed the room, food, pool and overall atmosphere. We took advantage of the Harbor Splash package for breakfast, dinner and unlimited drinks throughout our stay. Portions were good and selection aplenty. Dont miss Joe at the omelet or pasta station! Charlene served us both evenings for dinner and was attentive and delightful. Plenty to explore within walking distance including the fishing pier which is home to a manatee family! Ample outside seating and indoor lounges and conversation spots surrounded by artwork. Appreciated waterbottle filling stations throughout property. We did not have time for a spa treatment this time but will be back to experience the mineral springs!
This review is about the spa only. This facility should be ashamed of themselves. My husband spent $450 for a spa package for my daughter and I. Facilities are in disarray. Robes were stained . Dirty walls. Bugs in the pictures on the wallIn hallways. The place is like a step back to the 80’s …. But dirty. They need to update this place if they want to continue to be open. There were some friendly employees , but some acted like they are not having a good day. The massage therapists did not introduce themselves and basically just wanted to get us on and off the table. My male massage therapist could be heard pulling up his zipper, right next to my ear. A little disconcerting to say the least. The nail salon is huge and outdated. The saving grace were your two nail technicians. Great personalities! I wish i could post the pictures i took.
I came to The Real Tea Party today at resort. Chris and Daniel waited on us for the ENTIRE event. These gentlemen were AMAZING! They accommodated all of our needs plus MORE!! Give these dynamic men a raise! They are a great asset to Safety Harbor Spa and Resort.
Went for a spa day with grands. My facial was very rushed and not even 30 minutes. My granddaughters was 30 min. Late so she waited. Both were scheduled for 11.Lunch was excellent but slow.
Stayed here on July 7th to 8th. Asked for room with balcony and water View which I got and they were lovely. On entering the room I immediately noted there was a burn on the rug in the shape of an iron. Called down to reservations to let them know I had not burned the rug and was told they would make note of it. Unfortunately, I did not ask if I was in an area that was non-smoking. Went out on my balcony and group of ladies on the next balcony were smoking that continued from approximately 3:30 to 9:00 p.m. I should have called and asked for a room change but did not. Consequently I ended up not using my balcony hardly at all. When I checked out, I again told front desk about the burn on the rug and that I could not enjoy my patio because of much smoke coming onto my balcony. No compensation was made. I realize this was my fault as I should have called down and asked to be moved to another room. My friend and I did enjoy the Sunday brunch and had great service there with wonderful food. The big surprise was my morning breakfast in the restaurant across from check-in. Steak and eggs and the steak was excellent. Great service there also. Safety Harbor is a Charming town that is fun to walk all around and then out onto the pier and along the water. I did call and leave a message an administration at the resort stating my above complaints. Never heard from anybody. Disappointing but have learned from my mistakes.
We just had our wedding on 5/4/24 at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa and it was a wonderful experience for both us and our many guests flying in from multiple states. Maria, Katie, and Lisa in banquets bartending were exceptional to work with, they all went over and beyond our expectations and made our special day perfect. The food was delicious, the guest rooms large and clean. The pool and tiki bar were awesome as well. If you are looking for a venue for an event of any size, this is the place to have it at. As a bride, all I had to do is provide the table decor, tell Maria how we wanted it to be setup and bring it there in totes. The hotel staff did everything else, they also coordinated with the florist (Flowers by Frances- exceptional; our DJ - Martin - With Luxury Events; baker Chef Mel with Cara Mels bakery) to ensure all items were delivered in a timely fashion. Our wedding was for about 90 people and we also had a meet and greet event there on Friday night for our families and friends to meet- which was also perfectly done.
Stayed with a group of ladies for my sisters 40th. The room was a very nice size for our group. The location is perfect, as there is so much to see and do right there. The resort is definitely rundown, which I was not expecting at all. I travel all over the world and see many resorts and hotels. This place needs a major overhaul. Yes, its huge, but its lacking in maintenance. Theres a very dilapidated sports area. If its not used anymore, it should be torn down. Staff was a mix. Didnt feel very welcoming, didnt get that relax and chill vibe we were looking for as we walked around. The valet guys were great. Our inside restaurant waiter was great. The tiki bar bartenders were split (some were phenomenal, some were just rude). Too many people just coming onto the property, who definitely were not staying there (wristbands should be mandatory, not a suggestion). The main pool was very crowded and cloudy, yuk. The bar food was actually pretty good!. Our favorite area was the spa. We did the amenities at our leisure with no stress or interference. And I have to shout out Cathleen, she did my facial, and it was one of the best facials Ive ever had.My suggestions would be more of a welcome, with more friendly staff. Soft music playing in all areas, and painting and maintenance. Clean that pool each night, please. And check for armbands so paying guests can enjoy what they paid for.
I attended Easter brunch with a friend from New Mexico. We were both impressed. InThe service, food, music and ambiance were all excellent. There were many food options and we never felt rushed.I am also a spa member. The facilities are always being improved upon and management has listened to my input and suggestions. The free spa mineral water and coffee (in locker room) make my day.The Safety Harbor Resort is massive with a lot of moving parts and sections to enjoy. The resort food at the Fountain Grille is plentiful, reasonable and good quality. At times (weekends) the resort can be busy. I try to go early in the day to enjoy the amenities on weekends. In addition, the bay view and walking paths behind the resort add another layer of beauty.Last but not least, the staff and management work to please the customer.Check Safety Harbor Resort and Spa out!
I stayed at this beautiful place for a conference and the staff was extraordinary!! The rooms were gorgeous and had all the amenities that you would need. The only complaint I have is that the only ice machines were located on the first floor. That is so inconvenient for their patrons. I think they need to think about this for their guests. We ate their restaurant buffet on Friday, and the chef cooking everyones meal was the highlight. He was so accommodating to everyones needs and did it with a smile!! BRAVO to him. Overall, the quality of the resort is an outstanding place. I do want to go back with my husband when I have more leisure time.
Do not ever buy a gift card from this place i placed an order for a gift card on 5/9/2024 and paid an additional $10.50 for 3 day delivery so it would arrive for Mothers day well here it is on 5/16/2024 the gift card is still not here so in calling the spa i am told that the card is non refundable and it will take between 5 to 7 days for the post office to get it here now keep in mind Safety Harbor to Tampa is about 20 miles the person that answered phone said that it should arrive around the 23 of May! Great answer great service my wife likes the spa and will never go back to this place again. So as i said NEVER GO TO THIS SPA SERVICE IS DISGUSTING!
I stayed at this resort for a wedding weekend. The wedding took place on site at the resort. I was in the wedding party and me and one other person got food poisoning from the resort’s dinner. I was literally stuck in bed the entire day of the wedding and missed the entire wedding, the reception, and so many moments that I can never get back with dear friends of mine. This place when informed of my condition offered us nothing. They didn’t care. They didn’t ask if I needed soup, crackers, water, etc. This was the worst food poisoning experience of my life, and I served 9 years in the army and ate food from all over the world. I will never stay here again. On top of that, the room had a funky smell to it and they need to clearly redo all of the carpeting. It’s dated and old and smells musty.
Excellent service. We go every other weekend and it really makes a difference. Wonderful staff that caters to your style and type of massage
Wonderful day spa with very professional services. Some areas were a little outdated, but in an elegant way. But what a wonderful place to lounge around all day in your robe, have services, eat lunch (yes while in your robe), and enjoy more services. Downtown Safety Harbor is in walking distance and has many wonderful restaurants with fabulous seafood, but bring your wallet $$$.
I came here years ago and thought it was a great place, not anymore. Dirty water in the pools and hot tubs, rooms that badly need renovations. Some nice furniture in the room, but some major renovations need to be done for charging close to $400 a night. It has potential but they’re just letting it go. For example the thermostate looks like it’s from the 1970’s, you press cooler button and it gets warmer, you press the warmer button and it gets warmer, then you press “room” button and for some reason that button turns the AC cooler. How has this not been fixed in 50 years? Not sure if they try to trick people to save AC electricity but that’s insane for a supposed luxury place. Costs $70 and takes 20 mins to change a unit like that. The landscape of the hotel is great, and it’s in a great location. Other than that it’s a lot of sleepy old people not even any relaxing music in their spa. Complete silence. Barely anyone in there. I’ve stayed at 75 hotels this year and it’s only May. I’d say 30% less price and it would be worth it. Worth noting $55 for breakfast extra $15 if you want unlimited mimosas. I passed on that so can’t comment on the food but within a 2 minute walk there are some nice restaurants.
We purchased a day pass off of their website to go on memorial Day. No where on their website or during the purchasing process did it say they were not accepting day passes on the holiday. The first two people I spoke with said it said it was on the pass but we did not receive a pass, only an order confirmation via email since apparently they use a third party client, Shopify. It is not stated anywhere else that they would not accept day passes on the holiday. The valet lot was practically empty and the regular lot had a lot of open spaces as well. The only positive return on this was the refund was easily processed.
Well this will officially be the last chance I give this Resort. It’s unfortunate because I have stayed many times and often did business meeting here and bought ridiculous amounts of spa packages for clients. Well, when it came time for my retirement age parents to come to town. One with a handicap/wheelchair. They came to visit to assist me prior to my breast cancer surgery and have a couple nice days prior to my surgery. So let’s begin……1. Most of the place was not wheelchair friendly.2. The electricty went down. When it kicked back on eventually. Our refrigerator went out. The next morning when we went to get our leftovers from an expensive dinner the night before. The woman (supervisor) at desk was beyond rude and acted as I was a complete inconvenience to her. They replaced the fridge in the room. Yet this woman made me bring all the food to the front desk, so she could estimate it. She credit $40 on my bill which wasn’t even close to what we lost. Nor did she even attempt to call or explain how she came up with this number. The 3 days we stayed I had made probably 10+ trips to the front desk because no one would service me over the phone or room. Did I mention I have CANCER! They could see this was physically killing me, bald headed, and bone pain throbbing each walk down.4. I was checked into my room. Two adults and two children. Paying for poolside. To avoid carrying bags and walking and stairs etc on my ailing body. I walk in and it’s 1 king bed instead of two queens. So she again rudely without a bit of professionalism or empathy never even an apology of yet again another trip to the desk. Moves me up to 2nd floor in some handicap room. I asked twice if I would be refunded for the extra money I spent to have poolside. On final bill it was not refunded. Of course that morning at check out. No supervisor were available “and there is nothing I can do”.I chose this place because I knew it catered to retirees in the area. It is NOT safe. The ground around the pool is scolding hot! I literally ended up with blisters on the bottom of my feet. Why would they not build a more heat proof walk way?!They had no one cleaning around pool and all trash from night before still littered the pool the next morning. It was disgustingSave your money and peace of mind and go somewhere else.
This was an unexpected piece of paradise in Florida. I found this place because it was near Whimzeyland and I was planning a trip there. This is the greatest spa I have been to. The staff from front desk to the bartender in the lounge to the maids right out the door to the valet were perfect in every way. Everyone was happy to help and answered all our questions completely. I think I need to come here once a month. I wonder if they have a discount for frequent visitors?
Fathers Day brunch 2024 was spectacular. Buffet up to par for this resort hotel. From appetizers to entree to deserts amazing. Thanks. Highly recommended.
We went for the 4th of July VIP event. $89 for adults and $59 for kids. First let me say that the cost is supposed to cover everything for the evening, parking, dinner, drinks, a fully inclusive evening. We arrived a 5:45, just after the event started. We were informed that the parking lot for the event was already full. We would need to valet park to be close to the spa, that cost $25 cash. Fortunately I had cash on me, but if the service I had already payed for (parking at the spa) wasnt able to be provided, they should have offered valet parking for free. Clearly the valet staff was not prepared for this because the valet parking was mayhem. The barbeque buffet was subpar; saucy ribs, baked chicken, burgers and hot dogs. The ribs and chicken were baked not barbecue. The sides were just like the potato salad and beans you get at Costco. The dessert was also meh, hard cookies and mass produced pie. They offered only water, lemonade and tea to drink. Really the food was very disappointing. I spent $4 to have a coke with dinner. The saving grace for the night was the fireworks show. They do have an amazing observation deck with a stellar view of the show. There was a live band that sounded great and an open bar. The staff was very nice, lots of friendly faces. Overall, I dont think it was worth the money.
We have been going to their Sunday morning buffet For over a decade now, and recently they raised the prices and removed the fillet from the buffet. Very disappointed that with the increase of prices they still cut corners by removing one of the best dishes which was the fillet. Sorry, can no longer recommend Safety Harbor spa for cutting corners, shame on them‼️
I booked a Fathers Day celebration at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa for my husband, including a brunch, pedicure, and massage. The reservation was made about two weeks in advance, and due to availability, the only massage slot open on June 16, 2024, was a 25 minute session at 12:30 PM.Pedicure Experience: We started the day with a pedicure at 10:30 AM, which my husband absolutely loved. He mentioned it was the best pedicure he had ever received. The staff was professional, and the service was top-notch.Massage Experience: However, the massage experience was far from satisfactory. I had booked a 25-minute massage for both myself and my husband at 12:30 PM (only option available). Upon arrival, we checked in, received bathrobes, and were directed to the locker rooms to wait in the waiting area. Unfortunately, the instructions were unclear, and we ended up waiting in the locker rooms, not realizing there was a different designated waiting area.At 12:33 PM, I ventured out to find someone since no one had come to get us. I encountered two men in the hallway. One of them rudely informed me that I shouldn’t be there and demanded my name. After explaining our situation, he brusquely instructed his colleague to take me for my massage, stating that I was already late.My massage therapist, Yunjie Zhar, was professional, polite, and provided a wonderful experience. I felt relaxed and well taken care of during my session.Husband’s Massage Experience: My husband’s experience was quite the opposite. His therapist, Richie S., was rude from the moment he found my husband in the locker room. He chastised my husband for being in the wrong place, despite the unclear instructions we had received. Richie was visibly irritated, unprofessional, and had noticeably bad breath.Richie led my husband to the massage room and, without explaining who he was, instructed him to lie on his back, stating that due to being late, he would only work on his arms and neck. When my husband questioned the service, Richie rudely remarked about the short duration and the “cheap” massage booked. Despite my husband explaining that it was a special Fathers Day gift, Richie’s demeanor barely improved. The massage itself was subpar. Richie’s irritation was evident, and the session was uncomfortable for my husband. He felt disrespected and undervalued, which completely ruined the experience. While my massage was enjoyable, my husband’s experience with Richie was terrible and unacceptable. The lack of clear instructions, Richie’s rude behavior, impatience, and unprofessionalism overshadowed what was meant to be a special Fathers Day gift. I strongly recommend addressing Richie’s behavior and ensuring better communication with guests to prevent such issues in the future. I do not recommend Richie as a therapist and hope the spa takes necessary actions to improve their service.
I had a facial at this spa on Saturday. I’ve been here for a facial about 2 or 3 times previously. For some reason, I had a severe allergic reaction after my facial and my eyes and bridge of my nose swelled to the point where my eyes could barely open. I had asked the aesthetician to give me a list of the products she used before she did the facial but she talked so much, I suppose she forgot. I would have really appreciated if she had because I could understand what I should stay away from, as I normally never have any allergies and I’ve had numerous facials and regularly use the Eminence products the spa uses. I called the spa 2 days ago and left a message with all these details and they still have yet to return my call. I have been unable to get anyone to answer the phone and I find this pretty unacceptable, as I wanted to try to pinpoint what could have potentially triggered this incredibly uncomfortable reaction. If you’re looking for a spa that actually follows up and provides a real service for the high price you pay, I recommend looking elsewhere. I will not be returning after this experience. Very disappointing. Also, their facilities always seem to be in disrepair and unavailable, as the steam room was broken a few months ago and this visit it was broken as well. There were other things not functioning like vending machines, etc; they clearly need more staff for the facility.
Ive got a family member thats been going regularly for several years, and has brought me there several times. Im not a spa guy but the spa pools have been nice. This year we went again on the 4th and it was very different than last year on the 4th. The dance music at the pool was stadium-loud all day, to the degree that it was impossible to relax in our room. I asked how long it was planned for and the answer was 10:00.When I called the desk at 10:15pm, they seemed confused about where the music was coming from. The pool. When my wife called at 10:3pm, they still seem confused about where it was coming from. The poolSo much for a chill couple days at the spa. At 11:00pm we checked out and drove 2 hours back home.I get it, things change, but the fact that the front desk has no idea whats happening onsite is very concerning. Probably a staffing problem, since the guy at the desk didnt *seem* to speak English very well and didnt process our check out. Now that I think back. The wet smell and dripping ceiling are also probably signs. This spa is on par with a run down turnpike La Quinta now, I cant recommend it anymore.
I gave a Sunday Funday package as a birthday gift. Facials were the best I ever ever had such details! Pool was nice, lunch was delicious and it came with glass of bubbly, nice touch. I added a massage for the birthday girl and she loved it.
Every one of the personnel I interacted with was helpful and friendly, no matter how dumb my question was =) World famous spa services lived up to their rep. Food was great; they knocked my steak frites out of the park. I was afraid the rooms would be a little dated, but they were fine for a weekend stay - roomy, great view, plenty of amenities... and at this Spa how much time was i going to be in my room anyway?!
Customer service was a antiquated as the building. Upon checking in senior guy Allen was upleasantly and slick attempting to overcharge for quest of three for a room for 4. Also bellhop was given cash for valet due to rain but kept the cash resulting in double charge. Also I was further humilated during check in. When the same senior guy that lack customer service skills, stated the only rooms I could be assigned with my Global discovery vacation club would be downstairs away from pool. Room smelled like mold. Carpet was gross. Both rooms 107 and 108 were basically disgusting. Bathtub didnt drain. Bathroom fixture loose and falling off. Engineering was called and he stated this place was due for remolding but costed thousands of dollars. He stuck somethi g into vent to remedy foul stench. Smell got so bad we had to take mom 85 yrs old somplace else for a few days. We stayed gone or at the spa to tolerated and make it through seven days in this nasty. I will not be returning to Safety harbor resort and spa.
I HAVE TRIED CONTACTING AND NO ANSWER BACK HERE IS OUR EXPERIENCE. A TERRIBLE ONE.I am beyond upset with such a high institution treating my family with such lies. My aunt is very particular on where she goes and what she does. Last year for her birthday we all went to a 5 star restaurant to celebrate her birthday, this year in order to celebrate we went to your location to enjoy a gorgeous night inside a nice room to listen to ABBA. She had gone three different times to you guys for New Year’s parties and for another event you guys had and said we would all LOVE going there. On April 6th we got there and to our surprise the table in front the band like my uncle had requested and was told it would be no problem and they would honor it due to my aunts birthday was nowhere to be found. Then it was outside and it was freezing. It was poorly done. The food was hot but by the time we got to the table with no utensils it was cold then we were told they would get us robes they brought towels more than half an hour later. My aunt was beyond upset and ready to leave. She wanted champagne you guys had none in that bar. She was beyond upset and couldn’t enjoy her evening. We all paid around $120 per person and there were 7 of us. My aunt went inside to find someone to complain to as the managers and girls sitting outside letting people in didn’t seem to care. It was obviously overbooked. My uncle didn’t invite my cousin or sister as the site said no kids but there were about 3 kids under the age of 16 at this party. When my aunt went inside she met with a manager who apologized to her and my mother and gave them a bottle of champagne and told them that he would give us in the house 7 brunches but we would have to come back in the next few weeks. Mind you most of us came from Sarasota which is pretty darn far. This is ridiculous to be told now that you want to do half off when my mom and aunt were promised 7 brunches for free I would like an answer by someone who can honor this or get me to someone higher. Thank you
Attended an ALMOST ABBA show on April 7 2024 along with a buffet.First of all, loved the show - everyone danced all night. When we bought our tickets it was NOT disclosed that it was an outside event. Most of us were not dressed properly for the cold - which could have ruined the night (people were wearing beach towels over their dresses)The Event was poorly organized from checking in, wrist bands and seating . Food was scanty - definitely not enough.Cost of this show was $ 116.00 US.per ticket.Drinks were extra at e.g. $10.00 for 5 oz basic wine. We all expected a much better buffet and Costco-like dessert.Employees ran around not knowing what to do.Very unorganized from the beginning.Smarten up Safety Harbor Spa!I repeat … The Band was Superb!!!!!
Great hotel and spa! Very friendly staff, nice amenities. Only suggestion is more chairs at the outside pool at 12 noon on Saturday there was not one available seat. And the buffet was lack luster. At check in I was told it was 7-11 am but the vouchers said 1030. At 1005 it was picked over and cold.
Beautiful old style hotel. The grounds are beautiful. Restaurant is very good. Tiki bar and pool are fun. Safey Harbour is a neat little town. You can walk to a number of shops and restaurants.
We stayed Feb23-25 for my brothers wedding! Everything was excellent from check-in to check-out. The food for the reception was phenomenal. I work in the industry with Wyndham and am very impressed with all staff. Housekeeping was kind. Pool was wonderful!! Great stay!!
My daughter gifted me a spa day for my birthday. The staff is very professional, kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was delightful. We had a wonderful day.
The service, food and rooms are nice and its a great location. But the decor (especially the lobby and the front face) are a bit gaudy. Like, I kept expecting to see a gold painted statue of Zeus somewhere. The White Lotus hotels are demure by comparison.
Love this hotel and location! Everyone is so nice, and Sylvia especially was such a big help!! I can’t thank her enough for her hospitality. I stay here every time for business and pleasure, love the rooms and spa!
This resort is a long Tampa Bay at the eastern end of the picturesque town of Safety Harbor. It is still run the way you would have envisioned a resort operating over the last 50 years and it delivers outstanding service, great food, and althe biggest spa/fitness area I have ever seen. This is now our go-to place when we come to the Tampa Bay area.
Always a great experience. Fantastic customer service all around. Never spent the night but have visited the spa numerous times. Food is amazing. Ask for Alyssa in the nail salon
Love this place! I feel like a Queen here! Very luxurious! Michelle was absolutely amazing making our spa services reservation! I always love coming and hate leaving!
Convenient location here in Safety Harbor, the rooms are clean and comfortable, maybe a bit dated. The pool scene is a lot of kids, drinking and loud music so be prepared for that.
Safety Harbor is a nice place to visit. I was disappointed at some of the daytime staff who lacked great customer service. Smiles and cordial conversation were frequently lacking and it gave me the impression that some daytime employees were not happy with their jobs. Also, the bath tubs are in need of safety bars. That would help greatly.
Great location ! Cute little town with lots of good restaurants and shops. As far as the resort, it needs a little TLC. Needs updating!
Beautiful place. Wonderful ammeties. And, most outstanding staff. We will definitely return.
Travelling from Houston to Fort Lauderdale over a couple days and decided to stop here for the night. Place was a bit more than I needed but very nice, room was comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was great.
We were there for a meeting and the staff, the good, and the facility were so lovely. Spectacular food, stellar service, and a beautiful view. You cant go wrong!
Buffet style not to my liking Id prefer a to order luncheon. Cakes not bakery quality. Pastries were ok. Fruit was not fresh. Main courses were good but not great.
This hotel is in a pretty area and offers a lot of services. Its expensive to stay here because you book with the expectation that there will be a high service level and attention to detail. We were very disappointed that this was not the case when we stayed and cant justify returning. For example, there is a shop on the first floor with overpriced apparel and goods and no dressing room. You have to guess if it will fit and theres a surprise - no returns. The shop doesnt tell you there are no returns, its not on the receipt and not posted anywhere. You only find out if you try to take it back, at which point youre told sorry.I wont be returning and cant recommend this accomodation based on price or service.UPDATE: I find it indicative of the lack of service that the ownership posted the comment below several months after my stay and attempted to turn it around. There are no signs and it is not on the receipt, by the register, or anywhere. Thats why I won the credit card dispute against Safety Harbor over this issue.Even if what they wrote were true, and they know the signs are hard to spot, why would they just leave them like that? Because there are no signs. If I were you, Id find another spa resort elsewhere, this area is full of very beautiful ones that will exceed your expectations, not underwhelm and then blame you for it.
The front desk check in experience was disappointing. Our room wasnt ready and they were not very accommodating. Breakfast servers in the restaurant were friendly, but hard to locate when it was time to leave. Almost late for my meeting!
We attended the 2024 Easter Brunch and was very disappointed in the food for the price we paid! The lady on the first podium was very rude, we will never attend another one. The buffet line was a hot mess, again very disappointing!
I am very disappointed with the service I have received from this resort. I purchased a package gift for their spa. I have tried to use their system to redeem the package numerous times via phone and email and have yet to ever hear back from their team - over the span of MONTHS. They do not respond to messages at all. The charge processed on my credit card months ago, but because of their lack of responsiveness, I am unable to use the service. It is at the point I am considering going to the resort in person simply to SCHEDULE an appointment due to their lack of responsiveness to their voicemails, phone system or emails. As a first time guest this is very disappointing and feels like a scam. Would not advise prepurchasing anything from this resort.
It’s was a great afternoon lunch at the poolside bar with friends the perfect day trip only minutes away from the airport
Safety Harbor is one of my favorite little towns and we always stay at the resort. Staff is attentive, kind and always so welcoming. I had a stunning sunrise view from my room which was the perfect start to the day. Highly recommend checking out this quaint hotel for your stay.
What a special place! We went for a respite, and we were totally recharged after our restful stay. ALL of our needs were provided! We signed up for the mini retreat. Excellent experience!Rooms were wonderful. We really enjoyed the balconies. Food was great. We had all of our meals at the Fountain Grille. Food and service were fantastic. Favorites dinner item was the Vegtable Stir Fry.Our favorite part was the spa! The amenities and therapist were exceptional! Take advantage of the beautiful atrium. We cant mention each therapist by name, but we have to shout out Mary for scheduling and planning our retreat and informative nutrition class, Shannon for the best stretch experience we have had in years, Nadra for being so kind and helpful, Denny for a fantaboulous massage and Ire for an amazing facial! We cant wait to schedule another visit! Highly recommend!
Excellent food ,old school charm, very nice atmosphere, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. A great hidden gem.
We were on a tour with our church group the district sales manager gave us a tour of the facility my wife and I were so impressed we made reservations for our anniversary getaway
My husband and I went here for the Christmas Brunch. It was okay but definitely not worth the money, we requested a table away from the music, well they seated us in the same room as the music there were plenty of 2 person tables in other dining rooms that they could have sat us at. The food was pretty good. They had a lot of selections, I know its Christmas day, but I had to ask for our drinks, I had to ask for our plates to be cleared, the waitress said something about we werent in her section and she was bouncing around to help. Again, I understand it was Christmas, I paid a lot of money for the brunch, and we should have been greeted and explained how things work and who our waitress was. Checking into the brunch, there was a bit of confusion at the second podium, and I feel as though they sat me wherever they wanted. I will not be going back and spending that kind of money again it definitely wasnt worth it.
Tried calling 6 times with no answer to book a spa package because you can not book spa packages online. Left a message with spa with no call back..finally spoke to operator 24 hours later who connected me to a physical person who answered the phone. I was told there was no availability. Tried calling the Fountain Grille restaurant to book a dinner reservation..went straight to voice mail and mail box was full so I was not able to leave a message. Very difficult to book spa packages or dinner reservations when staff do not answer the phone..this is my first time trying to use the services of Safety Harbor Spa..doubtful I will try again after this experience
My wife found this resort since we needed a place to stay for a night ,but next time we come we will definitely stay for longer. It is located right in the downtown Safety Harbor area which is very charming. The grounds are beautiful and perfectly manicured. The resort itself has an elegant feel. The rooms are spacious and very clean and the furniture is all cherry wood and nicely maintained, no scratches and not cheap looking. There is ample parking and valet is only $15 a night. There are also plentiful amenities such as an indoor pool, sauna and whirlpool as well as two outdoor pools. Really enjoyed our stay.
The spa is amazing! Be advised that clothing is optional in the locker, steam and sauna areas. And children are not allowed there for obvious reasons.
I am a local & was gifted a gift certificate for spa services. I used that last Tuesday and and had the worst massage Ive ever experienced.I actually asked the therapist how long he had been practicing. I felt they took someone off the wait staff to fill in. Definitely NOT worth the $285 I paid for an 80 min massage. Disappointed is an understatement. My husband completely wasted the money here.
I have been coming here for the spa facilities for 12 years. In the past three years these facilities (the main attraction for many) have been in decline. Often the amenities are broken down, there are no towels available, and lately the bathing areas have been over run with a noxious, foul odor. The hot tubs are covered in a thick layer of disgusting foam from guest contamination. Overall the (mens) facilities are just run down and lack the pleasant relaxing atmosphere it once had. I hope they make improvements soon because I really love going here to relax.
Beautiful place, great staff, a little bit of poor staff education and communication, but a nice place to relax. Food was great.
BEWARE the fine print when cancelling a reservation. I was forced to cancel my reservation due to an unexpected severe health event. The policy states a Full Refund when complying with date/time restrictions, which I met. Not only am I NOT receiving a full refund, it will take MANY WEEKS to receive it.
Its an old hotel that could use many upgrades, but I still enjoy my day passes to use the Sauna and Pools. I always have a good time.
Next to the marina and at the bottom of main street, everything is within a short walk. Food is great at the spa and on main street, beautiful views of Tampa Bay
Lovely hotel with an amazing spa and fitness area. Rooms are large, and very clean. The hotel is very historical and you can find a lot of the history downstairs in the main sitting rooms. It is walkable to many dining and shopping locations and the park behind it is absolutely gorgeous. The sunsets are amazing and you wont regret spending an evening sitting or waking the park by the bay simply to enjoy the amazing colors of the evening sky.
Let me first start by saying we live close to this resort and can’t believe how poorly put together the brunch buffet was I had much better hope. It was disappointing at best and cost was outlandish for the quality of food delivered. The setup was done in ten minutes and extremely unprofessional considering what they are trying to convey to their guests. The food was mediocre and almost all options where what looked like left over items from the previous nights dinner buffet just reheated. Such as the salad selections oysters where beat up and not properly kept fresh, the prime rib had no seasoning and was undercooked. The bread pudding tasted like it sat in the batter too long so the yeast turned the bread pudding into a different flavor, the biscuits for the biscuits and gravy where hard little hockey pucks and only part of the inside was edible, and some of the food options where strange “combos” with names that didn’t make sense. None of the foods where kept at the proper temperatures so they all had films and it seems like after being open so long this resort forgot about the number one component to a good resort and that’s quality food! The coffee machine severely needs a cleaning. Next, when I paid at check in, they told me gratuity was included yet our server specifically asked if we had paid a tip already and to leave one for everyone else.. we where shocked… so the resort under pays it’s staff as well which explains the lack of attention all of the servers paid to the tables. We know management is not doing there part and it’s reflected in the workers.I truly hope you take this review seriously to create a positive change in your resort. We are routing for you to make a great comeback so don’t disappoint!
Just returned from a long weekend at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa. I hadnt been there in almost 30 years and was quite curious what to expect. Fortunately, Wyndham Hotels rescued this jewel and didnt let it get bulldozed into oblivion by developers. Now having said that, it is by sheer force of will that the caretakers are able to keep the place as nice as it is. Let be clear: It is not new. It has been updated, refreshed and well-maintained but it is still a place that has been around a long time. Dont be concerned about that. The town of Safety Harbor is very nice with its long main street of stores and restaurants. The walking/biking trail is a highway of people taking the time to enjoy the outdoors. Go to the bays edge and enjoy a walk along the Mangrove trail.Ok, the other side: The place is well looked after, but it still has the design style of the past. Perhaps some style upgrades would be worthwhile. I also noticed what seemed to be some miscommunications with the staff. Restaurant servers who werent sure who was waiting which tables, housekeeping asked do our room. The receptionist at the spa desk who took the time to recommend a different schedule of services for my wife was helpful. That was a nice thing, but spoke to a need for management to work on making sure things ran a bit smoother. No big deal but no 4+ stars for that. The hotel is a keeper. Youd enjoy it. I did, but just remember that it has been around a long time, and while maintained as best as they can considering its age, it might not compete with brand-new place for the modern feel. Personally, I would rather have this classic vibe than the cookie-cutter hotel vibe any day.
Went to Sunday brunch looking forward to good food and good experience. The service was terrible from the poor greeting of the manager at the beginning to the having to get someone so we could pay our bill. The waitress did not check on us the entire time we had to go refill our own drinks and the food was mediocre. Very poor experience. I can’t believe they charge you 20% for their service that was so poor. Will never go again, nor recommend anyone to spend this kind of money for such mediocre brunch
She is an old girl but still just as grand. This place is a hidden gem that had its days in the roaring 30s. The architecture is amazing and the people are friendly. The rooms are outdated and do not have a microwave. They are still clean and usable. The spa and its amenities are top notch. Definitely use them. Great for families and old folks like me. lol.
Although didnt stay for the rooms, I am rating the spa area and the cleanliness of the resort area. The location is great for walking or driving to some great shops and restaurants. All of the main areas like the shops, check-in and larger conference/ballrooms are in great order and very clean. The behind the scenes spa area although clean, lacks the new polish and could be renovated to bring in a modern feel or new feel. It currently has that older club smell and feel which isnt bad, but also isnt good.I will say the massage service (ask for Olga) was amazing. Which is why I rated the service a 5 out of 5.Pools were well kept and at a good temperature. Good amenities such as steam room, sauna, showers.
The spa is a wonderful centralmeeting place in Tampa Bay. There is plenty of space to talk and relax by the pool. We met friends there who we havent seen for a while and enjoyed everything at the spa and downtown safety Harbor
I had a spa package there and while some services were great- this spa is very old. I wouldnt recommend the pedicures. The food was lovely and the dining staff were nice.
Went to the spa for services as a guest with a very good friend of mine. Location is gorgeous! The rooms really needed updating especially where the herbal wraps were done. It seemed like a maintenance room. It was not relaxing at all. It was never explained to us what to expect, what to bring, what not to do ...etc. Once we arrived, again, there was no explanation of what we were going to be doing. There seem to be a lot of confusion. The lunch was fantastic and we had a wonderful time!
2 out of 3 meals were good. My friend ordered the gyro lunch and said the meat was tough and not very good. I had pasta Primavera which was delicious. The 3rd order was salmon and rice which she enjoyed.
Ate lunch with Bonnie here. My goodness they give you a lot of food. The Spa Cobb Salad was delicious. Bonnie got the crab cakes, 🦀 which was also very good 👍 😋. Our server was very good also. Fresh warm bread to eat while we waited. Beautiful day down on the water 💧 on Tampa Bay...
Great place to stay. Best gym Ive ever seen at a hotel. Very nice pools also. Location is perfect!
Perfect for a weekend stay or relaxing just for the day with your partner or friends. Beautiful spa. 4 stars bc the prices are on the expensive side and the staff at the desk are a little unorganized. Food there is great too.
We are planning our 50 wedding anniversary and had contacted 9 different venues. After much deliberation, when it came down to the final 2, we chose another venue. We were disappointed bc the location, cost and venue itself was what we were looking for. However, the person I was dealing with was either too new in the role, incompetent or just didn’t care. The response back time was always delayed, numerous quotes were incorrect and I felt they were not listening to what I was asking or needing. When I left a message on the event supervisor’s phone asking to return my call, she never did. I could not in good conscience go with the resort in fear our celebration would end in disaster.
Waterfront, beautiful event rooms, amazing gardens, accommodating staff and the resort itself is gorgeous for out of town guests. This venue exceeded my expectations for my intimate January wedding. I was so pleased with my final results. Maria was wonderful to work with supporting and guiding me each step of the way!UPDATE 2024: The reality is, it is still as amazing as I described above. April 2024 my husband & I hosted our family and friends for our daughters baptism in the Athena Ballroom at The Safety Harbor Resort & Spa. The day came together picture perfect, and I could not have imagined a more beautiful event for my honoring our daughter. Wonderful customer service, great and attentive wait staff, the food was delicious and they kept the buffet full. I also had the pleasure of working with Maria again as my coordinator for the baptism. She catered to my every need, and answered every little question I had. She personally made sure my vision came to life, and that us & our families were happy that day. I can not thank the team that worked on our event and Maria enough. Two monumental events in my life at this location and both were just stunning.
I will give this place three stars for service because my massage with Olga was AMAZING! She really knows what shes doing and the experience with her was incredible. My facial with Diane was terrible and I am incredibly disappointed. Complete waste of money. Diane spent 40 of the 50 minutes doing something other than touching my face. I couldnt tell you what she was doing because my eyes were covered, but it was awkward and whatever it was it didnt involve me, the paying customer. The only thing I do know, is that she took her sweet time to write out for me every single product she thought I should use. She did this during the time she should have been focusing on my expensive facial. I even paid extra for the anti aging peptides which I did not receive nor did I care to remind her because at that point I couldnt wait to get out of there. Lastly, it’s a complete nightmare booking, no one answers phones I always have to leave a message, lady at front desk was rude when checking in, just a crabby person, and so freezing ridiculously cold.
I finally made it to this iconic spa! I went for a bachelorette event. I used the steam room and dry sauna, the cold plunge pool and whirlpool. I also had a 30min spa facial. The lunch was fresh and seasonal and the bread quickly became my favorite table bread of all time. No joke. The day pass is a great deal and a beautiful way to say ‘thank you’ to your hard working body.
Beautiful spa, super friendly staff. Had a facial with Ivory at the Spa and it was very relaxing. Great restaurants with delicious foods and amazing service. The concierge very helpful and made us feel very welcome.Highly recommend this beautiful and relaxing resort.
Had a ladies spa weekend 8 years ago the robes were higher end, soft, thick spa robes. This time, cheap wrinkled thin scratchy cotton. An older man (not a woman) worked the robe counter - very uncomfortable. He was unprofessional and so busy acting cutsie to us he neglected to give us flip flops. We walked around in our socks which got soaking wet. Dirty jacuzis - cloudy water, not hot either - should be reported to the health department. Indoor heated pool was not warm as in other hotels. BLACK MOLD on ceiling tiles in the 3rd floor hallway. Musty smelling hotel room. Peeled paint, broken baseboards, broken wall trim in the indoor pool area. Very POOR MAINTENANCE. Bed comfortable, clean sheets. Beautiful view. Unfreindly, crass man at hotel check in. Restaurant wait staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was very good, (unlike 8 years ago). Beautiful facility otherwise and perfect location. Banquet rooms are nice looking. But I would not categorize this facility as high end.
This Spa is in a great location with a wonderful view of the ocean. The service is okay. I have been going to this place for Spa service and hotel accommodations since 2012. We go for the Best Damn Race, the location, tranquility of the place, and our love for a good massage.
This spa is easily accessible, however, there are a number of negatives here. First, the attendants mostly are terrible. I cant blame them, we are in a worker shortage. However, I have had a number of completely unacceptable encounters with down right rude staff members. Second, on occasion the clientele can be a bit on the low brow side, this does not bother me however it does bother many people I know. Third, I will not stay here again, I found the rooms to be atrocious....moldy; old; old mattresses. Not kidding, I have had better stays at interstate hotels. I did hear that they are remodeling, thank the lord. The spa services are great and the providers are top notch however, which is why I come back again and again. Wishing there was more competition in this area, but they are the only spa around sadly unless you want to go to palm harbor or drive to the Don Cesar. It will do for now...B- (P.S the other negative reviews are spot on) You just have to go in with the right mindset....like a low tier/mid tier NYC spa if you know what I am referring to.
Stayed here several times on business and never a bad stay. Havent had time to try out the spa part but hopefully one visit I will.
Despite the steam room not working at the time, everything was great and relaxing!
A romantic old fashioned spa and hotel getaway destination. Not your typical cookie cutter resort. The rooms overlook Safety Harbor and plenty of staff to assure your stay and needs are addressed. This Greek themed spa has plenty of attractions to appease the adventurer and baby the spa bound guest. The pool area is abundant with chairs, umbrellas, tables and towels. The Parthenon bar serves those guests looking to have cocktails and brews. A beautiful setting ...not your typical bland hotel. A bit of history still exits here...simple and accomodating...perfect!
Order SPA pedicure. 30 inch away the contractor CUT OUT THE FLOOR TILE with squeaky irritating sound!!! Mixing and spreading the concrete tile glue on the floor. You just soak your feet a banch of contactors in safety helmets walk through, giving you a strange look. The wall between you and upperfixers is plastic bag curtains. You can hear how they mixing of cement and all cements mixture smell!!! Am I at construction site? No I still get the relaxing experience with my SPA pedicure... Stuff did not warn, did not apologize, nothing!... relaxing experience indeed!
My family has stayed here twice now, and it really is a spectacular place to stay. The rooms are nice and spacious, the views are gorgeous, and it’s situated right next to numerous restaurants, coffee shops, and stores that are close enough to walk to. If you’re looking to stay around Tampa, definitely check this place out!
We went for a comedy show. Gorgeous venue. Very funny show. Bartenders at venue very inexperienced and slow, mixed up peoples payments and long line. Hopefully next time they will be better. We did not stay here.
Whats not to love! Fabulous spa services. delicious food, and relaxing ambiance.
What can I say about the Safety Harbor spa the restaurant is phenomenal my wife and I go there on the weekend sometimes just to grab a bite for lunch the bread is incredible with the melted cheese on top and there are spinach salad out of this world. The staff is always courteous and professional and attentive. I have not stayed there overnight but I do plan to hear in the summer and also take advantage of their spa amenities. Its a staple thats been there in Safety Harbor for a very long time. If you go to Safety Harbor for a visit I would highly recommend visiting the Safety Harbor spa.
Went here for a wedding and it was beautiful. Ceremony was elegant and well organized. Reception was in one of their ballrooms and was the perfect size for a party of roughly 100 people. Great dinner service by the staff. Self Parking is a small issue if the venue is busy, but there is a valet option if thats the case.
My best friend is getting married this year so for her bachelorette party we all did the any day fun day spa package. It was a breeze to book and super easy to find the spa. We were also able to split her service into 5 payments so we could split the price, which was awesome. We checked in at 1 and had lunch at 1:30 at the indoor restaurant followed by champagne and then our service at 3. The spa package is anamazing deal! Lunch includes a salad/soup and entree plus a non alcoholic drink. I got the steak frittes and lobster bisque plus an iced tea. That plus a glass of champagne and 50 min Swedish massage anywhere else probably would have been around $200 and then tax and tip. Here it was $159 total and including access to their pools, sauna, and steam room. Amazing experiance! Only downside is I asked for a plus size robe and was given a different material robe and it was way too small.
Safetys really old. Im not sure if it can be maintained. The last time I went there it was raining. There was a lot of water in the halls and ladies room. There was corrosion, such as the hot tub rails. Actually anywhere I looked. I stopped looking because I love the place. The staff did as much as possible to prevent slip & falls. That being said the spa services, food and atmosphere still remain excellent.
Very nice place to spend the weekend with your love one.
Place is kinda old and needs to be updated. The plunge pool near the womens steam sauna was closed, bummer. I didnt sign up for any services, so I cant speak for the Bodywork. Didnt stay in a room, but Im assuming they would need to be updated too.
Fantastic location with a beautiful pool/bar area, directly on the bay and on the Main Street through Safety Harbor. Bars and restaurants in walking distance.
I enjoyed my stays in May and September 2023. The rooms were clean and spacious. I would have liked the microwave to come with the room. It cost me $10/day. On second stay, the faucet in tub was hard to turn on and adjust temp, loud plumbing sounds came from wall behind tub, and drain didnt close all the way. Otherwise, room was good. I liked my patio and view of bay. On both stays I enjoyed the Sunday buffet, my pedicure with India (she was great) and the quick and friendly response of staff, especially Merjana from housekeeping. I ejoyed the whirlpools, pools and the exercise classes. I will definitely be back for another stay.
My sister and i had a great “Fun Day at the Spa”. The package allows access to spa facilities from 8:00AM til 7:00PM. It includes 1 hr Swedish massage, lunch, and champagne. We used the Fitness equipment, thoroughly enjoyed the Women’s Sauna. Steam Room and plunge pool. plus enjoyed the large indoor wading/relaxing pool, hot tubs and outdoor lap pool. Due to rain we didn’t get to use the outdoor pool. Lunch of Garden Salad and Salmon Entree were excellent. We enjoyed our champagne in the bar. Enjoyed roaming the spa and hotel in our robes. celebrated my sister’s birthday. Looks like this will be a new tradition.
We went 4 the brunch, which is AMAZING! A true brunch, w/ many stations. Everything was wonderful. Get there at 11, so u can get the full benefit. Very popular event. Lobster bisque, carved Prime rib, omelettes made 2 order, many salads, desserts, entrees, mimosas. Service was wonderful. We will definitely be back, even tho its a bit of a ride.
Went here with family and friends for the buffet lunch. Hotel is very fancy, and service is top of the line. They do food themes, and we had Mardi Gras. Food was really good and servers were super nice and on top of everything. Will most likely hit again. For those interested, its about 50 bucks a head including gratuity. It is highly recommended to have reservations. And quiet seating or music seating is available based on taste.
We are currently staying here. The staff are very nice and if you make any request they take care of you right away. The resort fees are odd for what it includes. The outside pool is like warm bath water not refreshing at all however if you go to the pool by the spa it is cold. It has been unusually hot 95 degrees so that could be the reason for the bath water in the outside pool. The gym has lots of equipment but where the treadmills are the floors smell musty so I couldn’t work out there long. If ur not in a “suite” they charge you 10.00 per day if you need a microwave, this I found ridiculous as you pay for a room and it should come with it. The town is quaint and has little shops, eateries and places to walk to. We didn’t do any spa services, however you can use the steam room, gym and inside pool for your resort fee of 18$ per day. Overall the place is nice, but could use some little updates.
We were in room 153, nothing special but it was clean. We stayed 7 days but didnt know we had access to the spa part of the facility until 1 day before we left. The outdoor pool was great and the bar at the pool was awesome, with great service. I would stay again and hopefully use the SPA next time. Its located right downtown, so you can walk to several restaurants and bars, all within half mile.
We were in the Olympia tower. Bed sheets were not vicuna but they felt comfortable and soft. Room interior was quite outdated, a la 90s, however decent amount of space and bathroom was relatively oversized. However, room bathroom had two entrances (2 sets of doors), one of which were pocket, and didnt slide well or close all the way.The best part of the story is the location and surrounding grounds.
We were lucky enough to get a king room poolside… Beautiful. From the valet upon arrival, who stood there, and stared at us and waited for us to ask if they could park our car- we felt like we were in the wrong place. We spent some time in the pool and at the Parthenon poolside tiki bar. While the bar team are lovely… They paid so much attention to people walking up from the pool, that the people actually sitting by the bar were completely ignored for long stretches of time. The room and the location of the room are perfection. The rest of the experience left a lot to be desired. There seemed to be a sense of annoyance with all of the staff towards guests . It seemed like whoever we spoke to…they were put out by our questions. There is a room service menu with her URL scan. When you scan it, it only brings up breakfast. When you call the front desk to ask why it only brings up breakfast… they tell you to walk down to the restaurant to get the dinner menu.If I wanted to do that, I would simply have dinner in the restaurant. She then offered to have a menu brought up to me which they subsequently did but she seemed very aggravated by the entire conversation. ( I do have to say the person who ultimately brought the menu to our room was quite kind). There is a menu you can hang on your door to order your breakfast… But no pen. It’s the simple things. When we called for the pen, they could not bring us one so we’ll be going elsewhere for breakfast. We stopped in the spa to book services for the morning, and the lovely young lady behind the desk seemed extremely bothered-she looked quite annoyed, no smile, no engagement whatsoever - it quite simply felt like everywhere we went, were in the way and unwanted. The spa services will be canceled by this evening - we are both eager to get home after this unfortunate experience.I worked at this hotel in conference services about 17 years ago when it was privately owned , and I was so excited for my husband to experience it… Extremely disappointed. We travel extensively, the culture here needs severe overhaul. Do better.
Ur Christmas outing was ruined by scrambled spa services, changed appointment times and horrible treatment! We ended up sitting around waiting for hours for each others treatments instead of simultaneous massage/wrap as reserved. The wrap was done in a room with another person, no music, no ambiance. Little more than a massage school atmosphere. Everyone was so angry afterwords it was better to have stayed home!Of course management won’t answer the phone to handle this problem. What a shame to see what used to be special turn into mediocre!
We purchased the Honeymoon package to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and had a great time. My husband has many dietary restrictions and the chef went above expectations so my husband could enjoy delicious meals. All of the staff, including spa, salon and food service were very friendly and helpful. We truly enjoyed our celebration and will definitely visit again.
WEDDING REVIEW:So as a bride, I cant give this place any more than a 6/10 for hosting our wedding.-our first issue was communication with the venue/coordinator was not great. However I did provide all vendors and their contact information to the coordinator so she could do her job the day of.- we were supposed to receive the cost of our final payment a month before our wedding and we never got it despite me asking for it several times because I wanted it taken care of. The coordinator told us not to worry about it and that we would take care of it the day of our rehearsal. Then when the final payment was greater than our daily limit on our card for that account they got snarky and said that it had to be taken care of that day that they couldnt run another payment in the morning basically holding us in the lobby to take care of it when it was their fault we never got this bill in the first place. I did resolve it by calling the bank but we found it unprofessional.-secondly on the day of the wedding our coordinator was requesting numbers for me a vendors in the middle of getting ready and while trying to do photos and asking me to call the florists when thats literally her job and all numbers had been provided previously. On the same note, we had previously established multiple times that we would be using the venues provided centerpieces (a mirrored tile and votives) however on the day of, our coordinator acted as if we had forgotten pieces for our tables and that she did us a favor by providing the mirror and votives when they were offered and written into our contract.-there was another wedding as well as a quinceanera at this venue the same day as our wedding. When we book the date we were told we were the only event however they wouldnt stop anybody else from booking which is understandable. HOWEVER, 4-5 teenagers from the quinceanera crashed my wedding and at the time my coordinator was nowhere to be found to escort them out thank God my DJ took care of it eventually.-also, its a small detail but makes me sad that they didnt offer the left over cake to us for us to save for our anniversary. All in all, this is a beautiful venue but we were disappointed with these things and other couples should be made aware before making their decision.
We went for a comedic show and had a great time. The location is perfect, and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. We went to Sips and had some good wine and a charcuterie dish before we walked to the spa.
I have stayed at the Safety Harbor resort many times over the past 10 years or so. I always chosen this location when I was in town on business for many reasons... mainly the serenity, ease of travel back to Tampa and proximity to some good restaurants. The location has not changed of course but in the two years since I have visited a lot has changed at the resort. You used to be able to go to the pool after a long days work and just unwind and refresh. Im taking a guess here that they are selling memberships to local families and the pool area is now anything but peaceful. Its full of kids now. The moms of these kids emerge from the covered bar area on occasion to scream loudly at them for misbehaving. This is mostly for show because they keep right on doing what they were told not to. In the past the staff has always been super nice and that has changed significantly. I was put in the wrong room to begin with in this half full hotel and it seemed like a huge inconvenience for the front desk staff to move me. I was put in a nice room but it was across from the noisy laundry area. On purpose? Who knows but with all the empty rooms it seemed so. As much as I love the Safety Harbor area... this Windham Hotel has got the last of my money. Looking for the next great place to stay that I can give 5 stars.
I hosted a brunch here a few weeks ago and was amazed at the hospitality and above and beyond customer service
I used to really enjoy the spa here, sure it was a bit expensive, but it was worth it. It has started to go downhill unfortunately. Ive come here less and less.- the gym equipment needs updating- Some of the newer clientele have poor spa etiquette. Talking on cell phones and FaceTime in the spa area(where we are often undressed or trying to relax) one lady was shaving her calluses in the steam room- the quality of products at the salon are not good anymore. I had a dip manicure that started coming off after 3 days. Went back for a fix and found out that the nail brush cleaner was being used instead of the base coat. Had to have it redone again.- I ate at the bar and they were serving chips that were expired
My go to place. Best location in town. Staff is excellent. Food is great. My only complaint and why they don’t have 5 stars is they allowSMOKING poolside and at the bar. 2 days in a row I have had to leave the bar because of a smoker. I am allergic and my eyes were burning and bloodshot.Plz stop the smoking!!!!
The bartenders at the pool are rude and inconsiderate. When they finally do decide to wait on you they act like they are doing you a favor by serving you a $6, 10oz warm beer. This is our second year, we thought we just caught a bartender on a bad day our first time around. This is a consistent problem, being overlooked by management. This is a resort with NO music, but plenty of screaming kids. If you want to pay a premium for a resort like experience this place is not for you.
Parking is a real nightmare. I go there on day passes because I live close by. Ive had to go back home because I couldnt find a parking spot.
Set in the back along Tampa bay in safety harbor. Very nice views and amenities. Lobby is amazingly decorated. Only issue is our room is like a 1/2 mile walk from the lobby and only way to get in is thru the lobby. Then back in the same direction to the parking lot… maybe not a 1/2 mile but it’s a BIG resort with endless hallways. It’s impressive!
Got a superior room and used the spa. Honestly this 4 star rating is based on the older people we witnessed enjoying the place. We liked it just fine but being a bit on the younger side we found the place lacking in fun. Over the top decor was a fun plus, as was the multiple pools. cleanliness was passable. Spa staff was excellent but Hotel staff could have been friendlier. Location is hard to beat as the quaint town lies at your feet on one side and the harbour view at the other.
I wanted to go somewhere relatively warm living in the North. I had been having trouble with my ankle so I thought I would find a place to rest & relax with warm mineral springs to soak my ankle. My ankle felt great upon my return and I felt well rested. That is when I found out about Safety Harbor Resort and Spa. People have been coming here for the healing mineral baths since 1920s. It has a waterfront view to Tampa Bay. There is a Park with walk ways right by the waters edge. I enjoyed walking here each day getting at least a mile in.From reading on the website and reviews I booked a massage in advance. I was able to read up on who gives a great Massage. Olga did an excellent job. The spa has 2 pools. One inside and one outside. Both are heated and contain the mineral spring waters. There are two hot tubs between the two pools. For those that need it the inside pool for sure had a special chair to help people get into the pool. There is also a steam room and sauna to ease your aches away. If you have the courage a cold water tub to cool down. There is an exercise room with varied equipment to use. They off classes through out the week you can attend from water aerobics to stretch classes and more! You are supplied with Towels and a bathrobe to use while you are there. The shower/locker room has shampoo, hair conditioner, body lotion etc. You get a key fob for your locker. What ever you do, do not wear that into the water. They do not warn you of this. In this area there is a hair salon and gift shop. One thing I did not understand the spa charges you a fee for using all these facilities when you book a spa treatment but when you stay at the hotel they charge you the exact same amount each day. I feel like you are double charged for that. While I did enjoy my massage, I booked another massage at another business close by for half the price. The Resort also has an outdoor pool, tennis courts and restaurant by the pool also. I did not try these as it was too cool during my stay. You can book a party, banquet, wedding etc here. There you quite a few company holiday parties while I was there. You can dine at the resort hotel restaurant, Fountain grill as well as enjoy a drink at a separate bar. One night a week they have Karaoke. That seemed quite popular. I like that there are not other big resorts on either side of this resort so you dont feel crowded in or like it is a super touristy area.My room was very nice with a balcony that had a nice view of the water front. I was on the second floor. There is a separate area with a sink, mini fridge and safe. The bathroom has two doors. One leading to the secondary sink area and one to the hallway from the door leading to the hotel hall. This was a short walk by the banquet rooms to get to the hotel lobby. If you book on the third floor ask if the elevator is fixed as it was not working while I was there. In my room there were two queen size beds. I nice size tv. I used my Netflix sign in to access my favorite shows and movies. Make sure you sign out before you leave. There is a drinking water machine in the hallway to get the special mineral water to drink in your room.Across the street from the resort are many great restaurants to try. (Bar Fly, Whistle Stop Grill and Bar, Happy Salmon for Japanese and Paradise Restaurant for Breakfast.) There are also many shops as well. Quaint little town to enjoy. There is plenty of parking but you will need a parking voucher to put in you car window.A great place to stay whether by yourself, with friends for a resort/spa experience, wedding etc.
Middle aged front desk women is very unfriendly. I’ve stayed here at least 6 times, and she’s always the same. This time, I asked her about the shuttle service to the airport for some friends. I see the hotel shuttle van sitting right there. She says “We don’t have shuttle service, because we have a contract with the airline”. I ask what that means and she just repeats what she just said, like 3 times. Frustrated, I ask if there is a 3rd party shuttle, she goes “Sure” and hands me a business card. The next day, I ask the helpful gentleman at the front desk about the shuttle, he kindly explains that they only shuttle airline employees. Would that have been so hard to say for the miserable troll?
Great first time experience,we will definitely be back soon and Thanks to all the staff!!!
Best massage I have ever had. Olga is an absolute master at massage. I wish I lived closer.
Lovely place! Yes, rooms are older and could do with a deep clean but, it’s clean enough and comfortable. Amenities are good, tiki bar nice, staff mostly out of this world. One star off for the staff who had no time/interest in treating me like a human being at spa check in and kept insisting i wasn’t staying there, so I could use the amenities for the day. Someone ought teach them to treat each guest like they matter.
I took my family here to celebrate two birthdays for Sunday brunch! As always great service and a fabulous selection of quality foods. Worth every penny of it on a regular Sunday. Holidays are more expensive. The meal includes one mimosa and coffee and water. Additional drinks must be purchased in advance! They do not confirm your reservation so you must do this on your own. Most places I go to brunch confirm a day ahead. I have lived in the area for 30 years and still a very elegant place to have a high-end meal. You can use the spa for day Services as well as by a day pass for the pool if you choose. Beautiful setting on upper Old Tampa Bay
Do not come here. Consider booking the Don Cesar instead.I booked a mother daughter spa day and they forgot to tell my massage therapist that he had an appt this am. They offered me a facial (not what I want) or a 5pm massage!!? Im not staying at the hotel. I live an hour away and its 9am! No thank you!My mom is currently getting massage and Im glad it worked out that way because I wouldve felt terrible! Now that I have an hour to burn while I sit alone in the waiting room I will have all the time to compose this review. My husband has bought a mother daughter gift card for my sister in law and mother in law for the past 5+ years as well. This is the last time we will spend any money at this establishment. Also, the place is sub par. The changing room reeks like bleach. I mean dont get me wrong-I like things to be clean but it smells like the YMCA pool in the dressing room. The cabinets and furniture are all damaged. The bottoms of chairs are torn up and saggy in the waiting room. The esthetic in the locker/changing room reminds me of everything you would see in the early 90s-which is probably when all of the furniture and hardware was installed. Also, this waiting room smells like paint. On another note they gave out all of the extra large robes first and this poor woman was given a robe that wouldnt even wrap entirely around her body because they ran out of the bigger ones. If given the option I wouldve take the smaller one because I was swimming in the one I got. So if you dont heed my warning-I recommend considering bringing your own in case you run into this problem.
Went for Easter Brunch. 1st time ever at Safety Harbor Spa & Resort. The very beginning started the experience off badly with the Valet Parking. Wanted $15 upfront to valet park the car (mind you we already paid $158 for brunch (again up front). We only had a credit card and $10 cash (which we planned to use for the tip for valet). Paid at front desk after the valet attendant made us feel like we’d done something wrong by not having the cash up front. Then waited in a very long line for our 12:00 reservation (was seated at 1:00).Our server , Toni was FANTASTIC. Very attentive and friendly. She was the only bright spot and positive experience at the entire brunch.Food was mediocre at best. Certainly NOT worth $79.50 each.First time at their Easter Brunch and last time!By the way, we gave the ticket to have the car brought up. They did, but never bothered to tell us and when we decided to look after waiting a bit, the car was sitting in the exit drive, doors open and car running. No valet attendant in sight!
Great employees, clean but tired and run down hotel. This place needs some TLC and a make over. Our room was clean but extremely out dated and worn. AC didnt work well. Great location but I wouldnt recommend nor stay again myself.
Tracy, at the Fountain Grille, gave us excellent breakfast, lunch, and dinner service on the front patio entrance each time. Attentive and fun--kept us smiling during our 2-day stay. Other employees of SH hotel were really rather grumpy and very, very slow to answer any of my queries. This was my third stay and fifth visit. The spa was fine and I had a better experience there than I had last summer.
Never again! This place is in need of serious upgrades and better cleaning services. The hair on my clean towels, unflushed toilets, and the roach in the locker are just a few reasons why I will never go back there again! Renvi, the manager of the spa, was on an unwell deserved lunch break when I requested her assistance. I had to clear my things out of the locker, praying that I don’t have roaches inside of my things! Even the new locker had left over trash in it (paper receipts). That’s when I called it quits! What a waste of time and money. I had high hopes for this establishment. Even the lunch/food was devoid of flavor! Never again! My 3 bright spots were:Felicia (spa check-in was great)Heather (nice/friendly masseuse with amazing hands)Jarvis (excellent server in the restaurant)Those 3 people were a blessing. I wish they’d open up their own spot together, so that I can see them again.
Did the brunch on Sunday and stayed into the evening at the spa. Plenty of relaxation happened! The spa area is truly a great value with lockers, towels, access to pools, jacuzzi tubs, saunas, and steam rooms.
Their Easter Sunday brunch was impressive. Lots of great flavors for both the breakfast and lunch items. The carving stations were really good but I think I missed out on the turkey. The tenderloin and carved hams were really flavorful. The omelette line was so popular, I didn’t get one because of the length of the line. Musical entertainment was a great accompaniment to the meal. I liked the Stevie Wonder songs played.
Perfect location to walk to nearby shops and restaurants. Beautiful sunrise in the morning. Had a toilet issue and maintenance was sent to our room within 10 min and corrected the issue. Hotel is very dated, and it was a pretty long walk to our room, but the room was large, with a balcony, and clean. No complaints
You’re paying for location. The property is a little run down for the price. There were loose tiles in the shower and the granite under the window was also loose. The pool gets pretty busy early Saturday morning and stays that way for much of the day. It’s right off Main Street in Safety Harbor which is the best thing about the property. The doormen/bellhops were extremely nice and attentive and we did the Sunday brunch which I thought was great quality for the price. We happened to go on a Cajun/Creole/Mardi Gras themed day and all the dishes were pretty amazing. They have an omelette and carving station and a seafood boat with shrimp cocktail and raw oysters. Overall the locations and the brunch are the best things about this place.
Booked a staycation will spa services. The room and view was great. The food was mediocre, but the spa was horrible, the worst! It’s freezing in the entire place, one team member talked through the entire massage telling about her life story of being pregnant, not sure if she wants to be with the father, and not sure how she afford a larger apartment as she already has other children, not relaxing at all! No one communicates to you and acts like everything is your fault if you have a question or voice dissatisfaction. The staff are all independent contractors and their tip is built in so they will not help each other. My nail polish smudged and no one wanted to fix it because the nail tech that did my nails was nut working at the time. The communication between the hotel and spa is horrible. Never use the spa services here! The bar tender at the tiki bar was extremely rude and acted like it we were bothering him to place an order.
Rooms and hotel full of mold. Woke up with sore throat and chest congestion. Air conditioner dripped all night.Beds and pillows were comfy.Hotel food took forever and not good. Medium hamburger came out extra well done.Continental breakfast is not free. Shouldnt call it continental. That $13 continental breakfast only included bagels, roast, Danish, cheese, fruit. Coffee cost extra.Swimming pool was out of towels. Was sent to front desk for towels. Front desk sent us back downstairs to anther area for towels.Guy at front desk who checked us in was nice. Lady, not so muchBar drinks were very expensive.Outside landscaping was beautiful and the area leading to bay was nice
We were here on a day pass for the spa. We have been coming for a few years and have watched the spa area slowly decompose. This place is full of long abandoned possibilities. It could be great, but has clearly fallen into a state of gross neglect. It needs to be power washed and given some major upkeep. Mold clings to air vents and ceiling tiles, long forgotten band-aids and refuse clutter the floors, and a heavy stink of moist, dirty sadness permeates the air. Chunks of façade have crumbled away, sunken patches of floor are thinly veiled with carpet too dirty to be revived, and the lounge chairs at the indoor pool have slowly broken down and been carted away without replacements. The handicapped lift for the water aerobics class is broken. On this day we watched a disabled woman struggle to free herself from the pool, as the lift was broken. As she rested, splayed out on the concrete, depleted of energy from the effort, she was a sad visual reminder of the many ways The Safety Harbor Spa is failing. The restrooms are on par with highway rest stops, that is, if you regularly misted the rest stops to ensure a constant state of heavy putrid moisture. There is clearly an issue with management. It takes a high level of disregard for basic concepts of sanitation and safety for a business to get to this state. I cannot stress enough that this location has the potential to be a beautiful haven for rest and relaxation. The tragedy of the state of disrepair is great. I wish the owners would sell to someone who wanted to polish this moldy, crumbling, cadaver scented atrocity in to the shining gem it should be.
Everything was fabulous. The most beautiful area. Great food and service. The only thing that could have been better was the massage. New person and didnt know too much about sore muscles. It was too light and not what I was use to getting. His hands were rough too. Not like someone who is using oils.
As a venue for a wedding, it was a great choice. Absolutely incredible dinner service, bar was great, and lighting was well managed. For the hotel/spa, sub-par. Pool is nice, but crowded. Limited chairs and towels. Charges for spa were supposed to be waived for wedding, but wouldnt remove a small $32 charge because it was booked through a third party. Not a big deal, but more of the principal of the matter. Room service was running behind for a morning breakfast (scheduled). 21% gratuity is automatic and the price on the menu didnt match the price on the bill. Very unfortunate considering a gratuity is linked to service. The entire hotel needs a coat of paint and a pressure wash outside. Multiple parts of the hotel either smelled of mildew or bleach. The room was clean and well stocked, but the towels were rough. The furniture could definitely use an upgrade.Recommendation for management/owners, whoever is the hospitality manager for the venue/wedding operations should be put in charge of all the others operations as well. Perhaps they would bring the service level up and wed stay again.
Worst esthetician that works here named Sabrina shes incredibly dumb just kept repeating ,okay while not registering anything?? Like im asking you to do something not tell me okay then your life problems. This place used to be classy and I dont know what they have done with it.
This is a beautiful hotel and resort with the best Sunday Brunch with live music in the Greater Tampa Bay Area.Their selection is wonderful. My favorite items are oysters, lobster bisque (with chunks of lobster meat), curry seafood dish and the huge dessert selection. There is a whole section of the buffet dedicated for breakfast items (Eggs Benedict, pancakes, crepes, sausages and more). You will find an array of vegetables, salads and fruits. The buffet comes with one complementary glass of mimosa, but for a small charge, you can upgrade to unlimited mimosas or Bloody Mary’s.There’s something for everyone, old, young, vegetarians or carnivores! The staff is wonderful, attentive and friendly. It’s a beautiful location for any special event. Their various ballrooms are gorgeous and have a touch of the old world elegance. Being in Florida, they have a very causal dress code. It’s certainly a great brunch spot. One cannot find a better buffet for the price to value ratio they offer.
Extremely disappointing! Its in desperate need of renovations a not only being outdated broken faucets doors non working AC in hallways. The staff is mostly rude and does. It want to be bothered be aware 22 percent gratuity built in so they don’t have to really work or earn your business. Pool deck old floor slippery chairs old non working umbrellas and they run out of towels patio paint chipping . Food is awful who runs out of turkey for sandwiches on a Saturday um they do
Ive been to the spa and salon here twice to have my nails done and its been a relaxing experience both times. Its a perfect way to treat yourself or someone special in your life. Afterwards its nice to dry your nails while sitting by the pool. There is a poolside bar as well with reasonably priced cocktails. This area is very special to me and since Im moving next month, I will miss being close by. Hope to return again one day soon!
We attended two different events in the ballrooms at the Safety Harbor Spa within a weeks period. Each one was spectacular! The food was divine! The service was fabulous! and the decor throughout the complex is most elegant! One of the owners even made her rounds to each table (at each event) to be sure everyone was pleased!! Parking spaces are plentiful. And the views... just wow!!!!
Our room was pretty dated and the HVAC unit was extremely noisy. Staff was great and extremely friendly. Amenities on the property are great. Food at the hotel was a little expensive and just okay.
Do not recommend this place! There is way better out there! I went for a Fun Day with friends, it includes brunch, champagne, access to all the amenities and a full body massage. Well when I booked my massage I thought afterwards I would enjoy the brunch, champagne and amenities that came in the package..... but they failed to mention there was a schedule of all of this! Well after being informed of this I asked for a refund on the other part I wasnt able to get and they gave me a $9 gift card! I paid $160 and I get $9? So fine I left VERY disappointed and knew Id NEVER come back so I tried to use the $9 for a drink but the bar was not able to use my gift card. I went to a restaurant and sat with my friends and no one ever walked up to us! 10 mins we waited, no acknowledgement at all! I now decided to talk to a manager of this very unpleasant waste of my time. But of course there was no one in that we could speak to! We got a name and number of the Manager but long story short, we talked to Jean one time and was told she would help fix this and then never heard from her again despite leaving many messages. I must strongly add that the massage I received was not good at all. I feel she was happy to push me out of the door! I felt like she was only using one hand to give me a massage for a while, and that is uncomfortable. Did her hand get tired or something?
I had a wonderful day at the Safety Harbor Day Spa on 11/27/23. I was gifted the All Day Escape for my birthday. The package was for a 25 minute Herbal Body Wrap with FeFe, a 50 minute massage with Richie, a pedicure with Renalda in the salon and a 50 minute Deep Clean Facial with Insuk and a long lunch that was amazing and Ms. Tony was phenomenal!Every single minute at the Spa was perfection.I’d like to express my gratitude for the treatments and lunch that I enjoyed.I also had access to the sauna, pools, and hot tub. There are many packages including a Fun Day package that I plan to return to enjoy that includes a massage, lunch and complimentary champagne with use of the facilities. We are so fortunate to have such an amazing place of healing and relaxation available to us in close proximity.Thank you!!
Well… I rarely write a bad review. The location of this property in Safety Harbor is perfect.Yesterday when we arrived at 2:30-2:45 and went in to see if possible our room might be ready the person at the desk was anything but welcoming. She seemed bothered that I would even ask to check in before the 4 pm check in time. We knew we might not be able to but it was all in her disposition. They also did not offer us a parking voucher and we had to inquire about. When we checked in at 4, I told the gentleman who was better dispositioned by still not at a level that I would expect from a front desk person. We inquired before going out if we needed to put something in the Car so we would not get towed. They said yes. It seems that they would have given us this at check in when I told them we were self driven and not valet parked. The room that we had was adequate but a bit tired. The AC vent that blew over our beds had black mold on it.I am very disappointed for this experience. I had high hopes.I’m not sure that I would stay there again.
One of the worst and most unprofessional experiences… nothing I requested was done, they tell me my tech called out and they couldn’t even give me a call.. said “oh you were coming anyways so we decided to wait to tell you..” offered me a free glass of champagne for my troubles or to come back a different day.. n common courtesy to the fact this is a special event and I drove an hour to that prehistoric place… over $500 worth and they couldn’t trouble themselves to offer to even try to fix the situation.. we walked out and I’ll never look back.. hard rock has everything and more.
I love coming here but since Mothers Day weekend stay with a ceiling board falling and almost hitting me and smell of mold in the room. I was to have bay view not above pool with view and this past weekend having German roaches in my room on the table by couch and in dresser. I got my bay room this time above tennis courts. Im having a hard time now for comfortable stays for the future. I come here atleast 4 times a year and get great haircuts from Bobby. I travel with someone who has to do home PD dialysis, and I dont feel that is very sanitary for her now. Last 2 stays were for concerts.
Absolutely amazing experience at a reasonable price but not sacrificing high quality and exceptional amenities. From Julia who welcomed us, easy check in, provided a quick tour of the beautiful spa facilities and took some pics along the way. Spacious locker and bathrooms, waiting areas, private pools and then a wonderful Swedish massage for 8 women at the same time which is incredible because we then enjoyed a delicious and fine dining lunch experience all together celebrating one of our friends. I can go on and all positive. I’m already planning on returning. If you’re looking for an absolutely wonderful day with your girls or couples daycation this resort will not disappoint.
Terrible stay. Will not recommend or return. One week stay. Online says you can ask to check in early. First person says the previous person is still in the room. When arriving was told no one was in that room. Staff very unfriendly. Skywalk is soaking wet you can splash around on the carpet or fall and get hurt. Room smells like mold and mildew. So our clothes now smell bad. Railing is rotted on balcony. Also a hazard. Bathroom door doesn’t close completely. No microwave. Business center closed. The place is a maze and so hard to get to your room. This will be posted as a review on all outlets as this was very disappointing and a huge downer to a week long vacation and a lot of money spent
Margaret was so sweet and helpful. We had such a great experience here and will definitely be returning!
I went there for a day with a friend of mine who bought some passes for the classes and enjoy the rest of the amenities in the SPA.I was chocked when I saw the gym equipment and how old is all that area including the class room, teacher and everything else completely outdated. It felt like I was in the 80s. How can I place like that who cares SPA in their name, have a gym facility, class room and all the details all falling apart?I was wearing my nice workout clothes and I was not able to touch anything there due the rust from all those old equipment, the Dumbbells and plates are prehistoric. I felt myself so down that I could not believe my friend have paid that price for that and her main reason was the workout, poor lady. The waters amenities was good but also old. The food was excellent. The bath clothes was excellent.I would not come back at all which is a shame because I loved to hang there but the gym is impossible to use.I am a Personal Trainer and had owned a gym in the past and can not believe how can they offer that to theirs sophisticated members and guests.I am sorry for my review but I am still in chock from yesterday there. Please consider to remodeling also that area. If you need someone knowledgeable to put down a plan for the gym, equipment, the class room etc. you can contact me for kind suggestions or to remove this so true review if you will really make the remodeling there.
Called the phone line to help me select a package for my mother and I. Lady on the phone was extremely rude as if she didnt want me to buy one of their expensive packages. Very condescending tone when I was asking about the different options like how teachers were in school because I was expected to memorize their content. Taking my business elsewhere and hope others do too
Great resort. Lots of amenities, and the on site resteraunt always has first rate food and is a great value!
At check in the room was ready we were given a room downgrade without any options took over 20 mins to get checked in without anyone in line at the time of arrival. The service staff are rude, apparently dont have the ability to explain the reason for the room change. Did ask to speak with a service manager and was told one would contact me, never happened, I was there for two nights. Didnt use any of the resort services after the experience at check-in.
After we first moved to Florida when I was 12, my family came to brunch at Safety Harbor, when we were leaving I looked at my mom and said one day I’m going to get married here. When Mat and I got engaged we toured a few venues always leaving them missing something, but when we came to Safety Harbor and met Jessica Farmer we were amazed and couldn’t have signed out contract sooner.Jessica and the amazing team at Safety Harbor walked us through each and every step. Her communication was amazing, especially with my 1000 questions. We had booked the promenade deck, unfortunately it rained the day of our wedding, Jessica was so quick to help change the plan to an indoor backup space. Safety Harbor’s flexibility, customer service, and the food is unmatched. The guest from our wedding were ranting about how beautiful their hotel rooms were, how wonderfully the grounds were maintained, the fact that they had access to the spa, and how nice every single employee was. Everyone truly seemed happy to be there! If you are looking for a wedding venue, I highly encourage your to stop by.
I like it very much. The outside pool was very crowded but head for the indoor pool and hot tub and leave the kids outside. The spa was very nice, but the whole place could use a little updating. The pedicure I received was great and was worth every penny.
We were in the handicap accessible room. The shower leaked terribly. Their was no sound barrier between the adjoining room. We heard our neighbors complete (loud) conversations. The room didnt have a USB port to charge devices. We called the front desk several times to get additional towels and a USB port. No answer. Our experience at the spa and restaurant was lovely. Anna, our server, was fantastic!Safety Harbor is unique little town.
Our room was spacious and had a great view of the bay and park behind the resort, but the room itself was outdated and seemed kind of run down for how much it is a night to stay here. But, it is probably the biggest hotel in Safety Harbor, and its a great location! Another bummer was that my friend and I couldnt get into the spa for a couples massage while we were staying here. The trip was a surprise for me, so I didnt call far enough ahead of time to book the spa, so that was pretty disappointing considering thats what theyre known for. Other than that, staff was great, and I would go back, if I could get into the spa at the same time as my stay!
Room was nice. Spa was amazing. The herbal wrap is so relaxing and Olga gives an amazing massage.
Went to the Safety Harbor resort and spa for the day with friends.. lounged in the pool, ate lunch in their restaurant our server was amazing. We then did the sauna Jacuzzi steam room and another swimming pool and hot tub. Wow, beautiful beautiful day one could not ask for more looking forward to coming back and doing this again and again. ❤️
I was very disappointed with our room, seemed to be very neglected, peeling paint, carpet was old dirty but I noticed along the baseboard area there was black soot well come to find out there was a fire 5-6 days earlier make me wonder if the soot had anything to do with the fire. Also the banister going to Olympia towers was broke hanging off the wall, I just think 400 bucks it would be a lite nicer. Now I will say we were in town for a surprise birthday brunch and the food and service was Terrific.
Went to visit the spa and had a hair appointment. Any day funday was wonderful! Everyone was so nice! Had my hair done by Harrington- wow, what an amazing stylist! He was a pleasure to speak with, extremely kind and had an amazing personality! Please make sure he gets high accolades & don’t let him go- he’s an asset!
A friend of mine and I decided to take a mini vacation at Safety Harbor for some quiet time. The stay was great until a drunken brawl broke out at the pool....full of families and guests. I was actually videoing the entire thing when the person they were trying to eject from the pool yelled he was going to kill someone. That was the end of our serene stay as we packed up and left. I guess I assumed there was a better class of folks visiting this hotel and for the cost of the stay, also assumed it was safe and secure. Very disappointed.
A little slice of heaven, this hotel and spa was originally founded in 1924 as a sanatarium with healing waters from local speings. Since then it has changed ownership and expanded, but it continues to maintain its charm 99 years.Outstanding service at the front desk, happily upgrading our stay to a corner suite facing the bay. Make sure to try the restaurant by the front desk!
I frequently stay here for work, and I absolutely love it. The staff is always so incredible, its in a great location, and it has a special charm. Yes, its a little dated in ways, but I personally think it only adds to the charm and experience. The fitness center is massive, and the spa has so many options. It feels like a well loved place, staffed with the kindest people.
If you want to enjoy a blast from the past back to the early 90s, I highly recommend. Thats probably about the last time they changed the accent rugs, furniture and artwork around here. Services are way overpriced for what you get. Two stars because at least the beds were comfortable for our $300 a night room.
We had a work event there last week and it was wonderful. Katie and Heather were great to work with. The resort looked beautiful with all the holiday decorations. The rooms were comfortable and the food was good. Would highly recommend Safety Harbor for events or vacation.
Christmas Brunch 2022First of all, if you’ve never been to a Brunch at Safely Harbor Resort, it is truly a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming and service is ALWAYS impeccable. We were greeted with a warm welcome at Check in and seated promptly. The process flowed very nicely and was set up and organized to perfection.Krisztina escorted us to our seat and was the epitome of Hospitable as we passed all the wonderful desserts, delicious dishes and beautiful presentations.Servers and supporting staff were all very friendly and attentive to your needs… and giving you outstanding service is their main priority. As far as foods… the quality and tastes of everything was outstanding. And we literally enjoyed every single bite of the meal.Compliments to Francois (Food & Beverage Director) on coordinating a flawless dining experience. And also to Ajith (General Manager) for choosing the best of the best to represent Safety Harbor Resort & Spa.We will most definitely be back!
****Update for reviews 7/2/23****Unfortunately I have to downgrade due to the most recent stay. While I do enjoy staying at this resort; my bf and I were sorely disappointed with our most recent experience. The person checking us in consistently has the flattest affect of anyone I have encountered in a long time.We checked later in the evening, at least quarter of eleven pm, and there was an obvious leak in our room. It was clear that the leak had been an issue for awhile due to the pool of water on the floor. Few concerns:Safety; lack of cleanliness; no apparent checks and balances (does housekeeping report or not??) and worst of all the flippant attitude of the front desk worker after being made aware of the issue.I can overlook the somewhat confusing layout, older structure etc but the lack of service left a lot to be desired.I may consider going back but service must be better and rooms need to be on proper working order!!****Update for original review****Having recently stayed at Safety Harbor again, I have an even better idea of likes/dislikes.Our room was clean, spacious and felt welcoming. Staff are very friendly with the exception of one gentlemen who seems to work primarily in the evenings at the front desk; he just doesn’t seem happy at all.Tips: the harbor splash package is only worthwhile if you are ok with planning activities around dining meal times. Room service and/or using the coupons to order to go is NOT an option with splash package and frankly annoying. We wanted to grab breakfast and eat on our way to a pre-booked engagement. So either plan accordingly or risk wasting money. We stayed over the weekend and while the weddings on-site were beautiful, the evening reception and loud music was perturbing. Safety Harbor is a resort and hearing loud music no matter what genre late at night when trying to sleep is not appealing. I could have stayed at another location in Tampa or at Clearwater Beach if we wanted that experience. There is DEFINITELY a different vibe on the weekends. Plan accordingly or confirm when booking your stay if there are any weddings/celebrations booked for the same time frame as your visit. We will absolutely be back, as SH is a favorite. However, each trip we learn how to make the experience better than the last.*********************************************Original reviewI thoroughly enjoyed my visit to safety harbor resort. The hotel is very old and has the charm that goes along with that. My room was very spacious with updated TV, fridge and microwave. Yes, the decor is a little dated, however, the room was clean and bed extremely comfortable.Service was great, from check in to every aspect of my spa experience. I booked a few spa treatments and both estheticians were fabulous. I have had many facials, peels etc for the better part of the last 10 years. Ivory in particular did an excellent job making sure I was comfortable. The locker rooms were clean, pool areas clean, jacuzzi area clean and overall the grounds are maintained. Yes, there are wall here and there that need TLC, but nothing on the level that would discourage me from returning.Food at the fountain grille was tasty. I recommend the Athena Salmon. Safety Harbor will definitely be on my agenda for the next trip back to the Tampa area.
The food at the restaurant was terrific. The servers were attentive, friendly and very professional. I enjoyed the Cobb Salad. We had a large party and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals.
