I had never been to the Urban Lounge, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. It also may have ruined big concert venues for me.The reason why this place is much better than the big venues is how close you can get to the bands. We saw Citizen Soldier and Smash into Pieces. Our tickets were not expensive. We got to be feet away from the bands. The big venues you would have to pay an arm and a leg to get that close. There, the ticket was really cheap. What was not cheap was the venue. It was not run down. I liked the establishment.Another reason why the small venues are better is because often the bands will let you meet them. We got to get autographs and pictures with both Citizen Soldier and Smash into Pieces.I would highly recommend this place. This place feels how a true concert should feel. On a side note, the urban Lounge is located at a great spot. There were quite a few restaurants nearby. We saw the normal fast food, Latino, and other establishments. It made it easy to get food before or after the concert. There was also a gas station close by and a grocery store a little ways off. Parking was not a challenge for us. I love places with easy parking.
Bartenders were great and the set list for the night we went was amazing! My only problem was that was definitely way too hot and the poor DJ was melting along with us. But besides that I had a great time and will definitely be back
Not a terrible venue. The show (not associated with the venue) was not good. The air conditioner was not addiquate for the crowd, as well as the performers. (They complained as well) We actually left before intermission. I was much more impressed by the bar next door. Sorry guys! I was not impressed.
Terrible sound and lighting quality. Understaffed and over packed. There were chairs for the event thankfully. But so over packed that you had to sit on peoples laps as you tried to exit your row. Single file lines across the place to get to the bar and bathroom No AC, Probably to increase drink sales. I had to leave before intermission because of being over heated and a migraine starting. I feel bad for the performers they were suffering as well. This venue sucks. Don’t book your performance here and don’t waste your money to see a show here.
No frills spot for the best in music in an intimate setting. Significantly improved over the years. If you want an up close experience without the fight of a big crowd or deafening sound levels, this is one of the best places to catch a show.Bathrooms are recently refreshed and the sound in this place is amazing!State of the art sound system. And amazing 21+ venue.
Really like this place. Its not large, but it feels like it is. Good atmosphere, nice sound system, lighting on point, fog machine & air conditioned, intimate. Was great to see Popscene/Aaron Axelsen here!
We went to a show of Saturday night and they turned off the air-conditioner (I assume to up drink sell) it was so hot we all got sick and had to leave before intermission. I felt bad for the performers as they too were stuck in the sweltering heat. They also have no ADA accessibility.
This is more of a review of the DJs who did the set for the Beyoncé Renaiddance Party. The transitions between songs were awful, they kept playing the siren sound randomly, they’d also get on the mic to say “how are y’all doing tonight” etc during the choruses of songs or right before the beat would drop, they would skip to the next song before the best/most iconic parts of songs would play, they double played songs and didn’t play so many of her biggest party songs, also wild to call it Renaiddance but not play her biggest songs from those albums? There were also like 5 song gaps between Beyoncé songs sometimes. It was also so hot in there even though it wasn’t full. Basically I would not recommend paying for a themed DJ set here, you’ll probably be extremely disappointed. Not worth the money.
I enjoy going to see shows at #TheUrbanLounge It’s a small venue with a max capacity of 299 but usually only have a hundred or so. There are a few tables and booths available. We get there early to get a seat when we aren’t expecting to dance or be close to the stage. The bar is great, I’ve even been comped a ginger beer or 2. Parking is limited to street parking.
Decent venue with close up and personal concert experience. Unfortunately it was absolutely sweltering inside with no real noticeable cooling.
What a great venue for a show! I’ve seen several DJs and bands here and have always been happy with the atmosphere.
The Urban lounge is consistently the best Venue in Salt Lake. Shows are small and intimate with a good atmosphere. I saw some of the beat shows ever at this venue. Drinks are Venue standard. Bartenders are an absolute kick. I dont believe theres any food available, though I cant say for sure.Pic-Cattle Decapitation (Metal band)
My only complaint was the sweltering heat. Everyone in there was dripping sweat. It wasnt concert venue hot in there, it was surface of the sun hot
Been here for many shows. The atmosphere is nice and they always have consistently great sound. Most other venues in Salt Lake have pretty mediocre sound, so I always enjoy coming here.
Went to see Chat Pile on November 3rd at Urban Lounge. I understand this is a 21+ venue, but security was extremely rude to my boyfriend after he showed his vertical I.D. to get into the show. Security had eyes on him our entire time there, and even yelled at him for talking to people on the other side of the fence on their balcony.Great sound and atmosphere, but security needs to spend more of their time focusing on people actually causing trouble, and not just accusing people of trying to be sneaky.
Pretty nice little place. Very intimate and good for more underground artists to play. Do wish the stage was a little bigger and higher off the ground but those are only minor things. Overall a good time. Dont think they serve food so I didnt rate that.
Dont have too much fun here, my wife was physically removed by security when dancing with her friends and accused of falling asleep at the stage this of course was rather tramatic for her. Security should try treating people like humans and keep their hands to themselves unless actually necessary.
I went for a Mayor Hawthorne concert, it was sold out but the venue makes it feel roomy and comfortable. Didnt have a chance to try the food and I dont drink alcohol so cant say anything about that lol
The music and crowd was great. The staff, not so much. The door guy was great but the bartender- way unpleasant. The security was a bit over the top reminding people of masks, but its covid. I just wish that in times like these when live music venues are at risk, the staff, especially Bartender, would have been a better experience. Kinda makes one not want to return but the music was real good.
Bands are great! Great atmosphere. Bar tender has a bad attitude. Dont think he likes his job.
Such a great small venue! We saw Joshua James here and had a great time. You can easily see the stage from anywhere in the room. The bar tender are nice and super fast. The crowd was a little loud during the show but that has nothing to do with the club. I will definately be attending more shows here.
Great mid size bar for shows or a semi active bar to go that wont get so packed your head will pop off. Theres still enough action to make it fun, but also you can if theres no live event that night hear you and whoever youre with talk to each other.Parking is a pain if you dont get the parking in the back you gotta park somewhere on the street thats one of the big downsides, if you live in downtown SLC tho then I would suggest just walking the few blocks it will be to get here.
Urban Lounge is still arguably one of the best intimate Venues in SLC. Every time I’ve been here, it’s always a good show, the crowd is respectful, the prices are great.I recently went to the Phantogram DJ set and got to meet them while just hanging out at Blue Genes outside after the show, which again, is why this venue rocks. My only reason for one less star is over the airflow/AC. I personally don’t stop dancing for like three hours straight and it gets really hot, very quickly in this venue. It’s not always that way though so I’m sure it’s just a building issue and out of the venues control 🤷🏼♀️
Great little venue to see concerts (such as Cassette Drift). Friendly staff with drinks at a friendly price (sadly, no food and only 5 booths available for reservation). Nevertheless a great place!
Buyer beware, the prices you pay will fluctuate wildly over time, even for the same show. I purchased a booth on the first day of ticket sales for a specific concert several months in advance, little did I know, the promoter increased the price, normally $99 according to venue staff, to $160. So when I looked online at tickets prior to show time and see the booth I ordered was overvalued, I spoke with staff who said that looks like a pricing error and encouraged me to reach out to the servicer, theyd take good care of me. They mentioned theyve seen stuff like this before and that customer service usually refunds patrons the difference the same day.In reality, they didnt. They (customer service) told me prices are determined by demand... The card servicer told me to deal with the management of the venue. Urban Lounge management told me they were not responsible for the price increase and offered me 2 complimentary tickets to an upcoming show... for the 4 of us that were overcharged. (Just the price INCREASE cost more than the 4 tickets to the show) So though I can reach back out to them once I determine which members of my group get screwed over, I think I feel better warning others who are looking at this venue that:1. The staff are friendly, but are not empowered to actually help you. They will tell you want they need to in order to placate you.2. The management is allergic to phone calls. This indicates a lack of desire for feedback. This is further evidenced by admitting they actively do #3.3. The prices here are determined by the mood of management and you will pay more, while your value does not increase. And focusing on this value:If youve been to this venue and youve seen the booths, you know the one youre assigned makes a big difference. Some are so close to the door theyre not worth paying for. I guarantee I was the first customer to buy a booth for the night of my concert, so ideally Id have the one closest to the stage, but in reality, that booth was mobbed by 3 different groups, neither of which indicated they were the ones purchasing the space.I have made a few friends with some of the touring artists this summer while attending other venues. I intend to use these relationships to encourage them to skip this venue.
They tried to rip me off while using the restroom after a show. Walked back to the bar area to close my tab and the bartender gave me a thumbs up like I’m good to go. I asked to see the receipt and he put up a front. The dude wrote in the tip and signed my name on the receipt. Even his manger tried gaslighting me. It was my fault that my tab was closed, because of my negligence. It was very obvious the manager didn’t want me to have the original receipt. I asked for it many times. Strange..
My partner has a herniated disk and urban lounge staff accommodated us no problem, along with others in need of accommodation. Plus they were showcasing a legendary hip hop group. Much respect to Urban Lounge
This is a smaller, more intimate venue. The wallpaper is so funny in the lobby and womens restroom ceiling. There wasnt ever a bathroom wait at a sold out event on a Saturday so that was nice. There is a smoking patio with some benches to sit and standing room. Drink lines didnt take too long and beer selection was decent. Staff was friendly.
I drove over 5 hours to come see a concert here. I was excited and joking around when we got to the venue, I am always like this on a night out. The bouncers decided that I was too drunk and wouldnt let me in for about an hour, I didnt even get to see the first band at all. I am 45 and I have never been a problem in a concert, or a bar in my life! I was humiliated and embarrassed!! I never ended up being a problem, I didnt even mouth off to them, or anything when they treated me like I would be a problem. So payed for a show I didnt get to watch most of and got Falsely accused of being over intoxicated when I wasnt. Best part is someone else I came with was slurring their words and walking funny, but they got to go in and see the whole show! One of the worst nights Ive ever had and the worst concert experiences of my life! I wish I could forget what it felt like to get treated that way.I did email management and was pleasantly surprised I got answered back. The man who responded was polite, kind and apologized if I was treated unfairly. I was also told they would implement better training for this in the future. I have a lot of respect for the way he handled the situation and so will be changing my one star to a 3. Hope no one else goes through the same, seems they do what they can to improve and want to be be fair to patrons.
They upgraded the sound system since last time Ive been here to some Meyer Sound arrays and they sound GREAT. Definitely one of the best small venues in salt lake.
Watercooler, outdoor smoking porch. Loud and live! I wouldnt call it a dive.
Urban is great, smaller club. I love the shows they have and enjoy the intimate setting. They usually all run late and in the summer months it can get pretty hot inside. The sound has improved (depending on who is on sound). It is mostly standing only with a few rentable booths They have a patio for smokers outback and have improved their bar and bathroom. I have also enjoyed their outdoor shows.
Usually this place is pretty chill, and especially since its a 21 and up venue which serves alcohol, you would think people would mind their own business. But dont discretely throw up in the bathroom, and get caught. They will throw you out, even if youre not even that drunk and not causing a scene and minding your own business. Very disappointed I missed one of my favorite bands because my boyfriend, who was LESS drunk than I was, he just has a weak stomach, got kicked out. very disappointed. I have been to many places and would not tell on someone unless they really needed to be kicked out, and was putting me or someone else in danger. The security said it was because he threw up, and not because he was upsetting someone else. So, very disappointed. Hopefully the band comes back soon, and not to that venue with tattle tales
Absolutely love this venue. Small and intimate with enough room to still stretch your legs. Back patio area for those that like to enjoy a little “sin” and a bar that can produce enough variations of thirst quenchers to satisfy most tastes. The stage is placed in the center instead of in the corner and the acoustics are surprisingly good for the open framed interior.Love this place
Really nice space that I’ve had some amazing experiences at. Good amount of room for standing and (if you’re early) sitting. When lesser known artists play it’s amazing—you feel super close, comfortable dancing and moshing, and can have a great time. When more popular artists come, however, the space becomes really overcrowded and it’s basically impossible to move around. Still, a great place that I love to go to.
Had a great experience, staff were really nice, first time going to a metal concert, I really didn’t expect the sound system to be so loud and clear made my night had an amazing time. Will remember to bring earplugs next time though.
I went here to see a concert for a band Id never even heard of before and had a great time. It was very intimate and fun. We reserved a booth and I think that helped a lot. Even if I hadnt reserved a booth, I probably could have still got a seat at one of the many small tables they have throughout the venue. Id definitely see another show here.Just saw another show here. This place hasnt changed at all. Standing room only and about a thousand degrees. Good show though!
It is a great place for small performances.
Easily one of my favorite venues. Nice dance floor space, or if you want to lurk, you can hang off to the side. Good views of the stage from just about everywhere. Ive been to a lot of shows here and its always a treat. Great sound mixing!
Couldnt even go watch my friend play a show because their parking is awful 😪🤦♂️
This venue is awesome. Acoustics are great and its just big enough to not feel cramped in without it feeling overly large. The drinks are decent priced as well.
Urban Lounge has turned into a great venue. It used to be grungy and to some that may have been part of its charm. Now the owners have updated the look and I really appreciate it! It feels more welcoming and I will definitely be returning.
Great smaller acts traveling through SLC, and excellent local talent. Small enough venue you can be right at the front of the stage, leave for a drink, or the bathroom, and make your way back up front.
The Urban Lounge is a great concert venue. Its small enough that you can get a good view of the stage from where ever you are yet large enough you dont feel packed in. The acoustics are great as well. You can hear the lyrics and music (which cant be said for all venues). They have a wide variety of drinks so finding something shouldnt be difficult for you. Concert tickets are reasonably priced as well. Never had a bad experience here and I am always watching to see who they bring in. The organizers do a great job of bringing in good acts. Ill be back soon.
What time do the shows start?not posted on website
What a great time. Nice and spacious. We saw Not Green Day there. I havent seen them in... EVER!! Good times 😁
The pit has a padded floor which I really appreciate for the heavier shows. The atmosphere is good, and the sound quality is great.
Nice little venue!! The booths and tables are nice and the drinks were normal price. Not sure if it was the sound engineer, the venues, or the headliners issue, but the balance could use some work. Still 5 stars though!
All the focus is on great music. Its wonderful to listen to a concert here because its such a small space that you get to be close to the stage no matter where you are. The environment is very spare. It reminds me of a black box theater. The bar doesnt serve food, and the drinks they can make are pretty limited. If you need to sit, call ahead to reserve a booth. There is free water, and really good music. The concert we saw was tons of fun. If you love live music with wonderful energy and you enjoy simple, sort of obvious drinks, this is a really fun place to spend the evening.
Great show with Devotchka. Sound was ok....so blasted hot though. Would love some AC upgrades. Overall I love Urban Lounge. They do a great job bringing in some decent names along with the up-and-comers:)
Great sound. I stood under the fan system. Band looked hot and sweaty. It was about 79 out. Lot of road construction around the building. Awesome time! Friendly bartenders. Cheers.
Great bands play here but I cannot figure out why. Prepare to get heatstroke in the summer.Worst dump I’ve ever seen a concert in the United States.
Great venue... It does get a bit too warm during sold out shows and the venue removes all seating except VIP booths during sold out shows.Come prepared and aware! Comfy shoes and not too many layers of clothing. (it can get really hot)Ive always had a great time at The Urban Lounge...
Urban lounge is always a blast. Great venue. Super friendly door guys and always down to support the local and traveling artists that depend on great venues like this one. During the pandemic they have come up with safe and creative ways to still showcase music in their parking lot.
Awesome venue for intimate shows, super small setting and never crowded. The staff could be a bit better at the door and the ventilation is terrible. However the sound is usually great and it always has the best and most casual vibe. Security was none existent at the door.
Smaller venue with a bar and a dance floor. nice space. seating is a little weird but I didnt mind it.
Fun place for an intimate show. Friendly staff made getting in the door quick and painless. Drinks were cheap and cold, but beer did end up running out by the middle of the main act. Though I understand the no frills aestetics from the outside, theres got to be a better way to attract people in. Overall a good experience... Will be back for another show soon!
Small concert venue, charmingly old, which gives it lots of character.
For me this pretty close to an ideal venue. The venue books solid acts and the capacity still allows for a relatively intimate show experience. Sound is usually dialed in really well, great beer selection with fair prices, and good-sized patio for getting some air between sets.
I love this venue. One of my favorite places to see my favorite bands. Always a chill vibe and the best environment to have a drink and enjoy a great concert. Ive seen Wombats and Coast Modern there and they were such a positive experience.
This is a great, intimate venue for concerts. They have a nice back patio area, the bartenders are friendly and do a great job. Its also in a good area in downtown Salt Lake. As its Central to everything else in the downtown area. It would be nice if there were more sitting areas or standing tables to place drinks.
Last night I went to a concert for the first time there! I’m also pregnant, I was so worried about being there pregnant but holly cow I’m so impressed! The staff was amazing I had to sit for a few songs they got me a stool and water then every so often they would come check on me! My cousin and hubby had a great time drinking and singing over all I was VERY impressed by the staff! Thank you for making me feel comfortable and for letting me enjoy a great concert!
I like this place because its right in my neighborhood, they get some pretty good bands and the bar service is outstanding. However, even in the middle of winter is about 100 degrees inside, also, there is pretty much no security to speak of. When I saw a Red Fang there a couple months ago a woman kept leaning on the stage and touching the lead singer/bass player and nobody did anything about it, you could tell he was getting pissed.
I went here yesterday with a couple of friends for the emo night tour and we had so much fun. The band was awesome and the lighting was spot on. Friendly staff as well. Thanks for the awesome show! I look forward to coming back to see what other good shows you have!
Way cool, super small venue and personable. It makes seeing your favorite band an intimate experience because youre up and close to the artists.
Fun dark tiny 21+ concert venue with drinks and a few seats. If you want seats make sure to arrive early. Drinks are pretty well priced and they sometimes hand out tickets to future events when you arrive. When it gets crowded it gets really hot, so bring athletic wear.
Our first time playing here as a band and what I can say is the green room is nice, the stage is a good size, and the sound guy was awesome. 10/10 for that sound guy. Definitely would recommend this venue. 👍
We have seen a bunch of bands preform at the Urban Lounge. The spot is nice and has decent sound, you can get a good view from anywhere in the house. I have bought the booth seating in the past for High on Fire and The Sword, it was worth it for my old bones. I actually like it here better than other venues around town. The bar has an o.k. selection.
The Urban Lounge is kind of a dive.. i wouldnt just venture in there except for some of the bands that play there. Its ok sounding but it was like 100 degrees in the place.. we went and saw Sparta. One of my favorite bands and it was a great show. It was a fun place to go. There is mostly just street parking and it didnt seem like they had much to offer for food or refreshment. So my Low rating is because it just wasnt all that great. Except the show.
Got to see Sierra Ferrell at the Urban Lounge last night. What an awesome show. If youve never heard her music, treat yourself and look it up on YouTube. The Lounge is small enough to really allow an intimacy with a show like this, where the artist can hear the audience and interact with them.Heres hoping The Urban Lounge will keep booking great acts like Sierra.
Ill always love Urban Lounge. The 21+ crowds never get rowdy in this venue, and it has a nice, intimate feel. The artists they book are always spot on. Everyone is always super kind. Sound quality is great. Really, no complaints. Another Sartain Success.
I went to the Gin Wigmore show here and had a great time! The staff was helpful and friendly. There are outdoor accommodations for smoking. The bar is small and doesnt have a lot of choices, but made great drinks with what they have. It is mostly standing room only, you have to reserve a table, and they are limited. The bathroom was clean and stocked. Great little dive bar venue for less well known artists. Will definitely go back!
This is a very fun spot for reasonably priced drinks and the venue is set up really good for shows. Been here a few times for concerts and its never disappointed.
Havent been to the Urban Lounge for several years and I have to say it was a great improvement and I was pleasantly surprised. I especially liked the free water dispenser and cups that is available for everyone. Thank you Urban! The patio is nice so those who smoke dont have to go out on the street to do so. The booths, the Tables and lighting all is very nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful, great show too and if you ever get the chance to see the Supersuckers live, well all I can say is they have the coolest, most badass fans!😎 😈 😉 Greatest band in the world! Check em out.
Got covid going to a concert here. No fans going and they couldnt even open the doors to let some air in/out. It was like a covid hotbox in there. The people sitting in the reservation booths were eye level with someone short in the back. I saw a few people having to stand to see anything from theirs. No security checks at all besides ID.
I go here to see bands I like. It’s not the Depot so that means it’s actually a nice place to see a show. The only problem I have noticed is that people tend to talk loudly during the show, something that happens less at kilby court. I blame the bar, but it could be something else.
Cool little venue to catch a show. Just saw my boys from back home 10 Years I personally like the smaller venue. It is hot inside so be prepared to sweat 😓
Great place to see a show. The sound production crew is great, never had any problems with feedback. The bar is in the back corner, which can get very crowded during sold out shows, but is otherwise convenient to get to. Drink prices are reasonable, pretty much the same as everywhere else. Popular shows will sell out, so grab tickets a few days beforehand. Ive seen Pond, Acid Mothers Temple, Lætetia Sadier, Amen Dunes, and a lot of other bands here. Wide variety of booking so keep an eye on their schedule which is best to do through Instagram.
I love this venue! Its fairly small but its got great acoustics. The only thing I dont like is the drinks are pretty steeply priced so I usually end up staying sober for shows here instead & party afterwards elsewhere.
Bar gets a 2 star. Cheap plastic cups, insane prices, but bartenders always great. A vodka coke is $7.00. thats insaneAs a music venue, 4 stars. Acoustics pretty good, sound quality is awesome. Audio engineers/techs and mixer are always spot on.Crowd is a 50/50 mix of:old biker dudes in leather vests with handlebar mustaches and prison tattoosand college students.Pretty alright place, but man they price their drinks so wrong
I like this venue. Its big enough to fit a crowd, yet small enough to still feel intimate. I dont think they allow re-entry, so that can be annoying. I will continue to see shows here, as often as they keep hosting artists that I enjoy seeing.
I wont be back unfortunitly. Dont get me wrong the people were awesome but the venue itself was really quite nasty, dirty... I didnt get a drink cause I wasnt sure how clean it would be and the smoking area outside was 🤮. Dont even get me started about the maze to get to the womans bathroom from outside either.
Was doing karaoke next door and dropped in during a metal show, great atmosphere and the staff is a bunch of solid individuals
I love the laid back atmosphere. The ticket prices for a show are the cheapest I have ever seen almost anywhere in the US. Ranging from Free to 15 or 20. May have a few slightly more but not often. I hesitate to call it a dive bar but yet it has that scene and the look, but not the type of dive punk bar where you are afraid to use the bathroom because of filth or doors ripped off, etc. It reminds me of a punk or indie type of music venue you would find on the east coast (where i am from originally). This to me equals comfortable intimate atmosphere. The bands 9 times out of 10 come down and converse with the locals and just hang out which is wonderful. Mostly local or obscure and sometimes big named bands perform here. Since I have been to Salt Lake City which was 7 months ago I have seen international bands and great bands from the states. Some of these are Spear Of Destiny(EU), King Dude(WA), K. Clover(CA), Maggot Heart(EU). I have upcoming shows who I am excited to see in this intimate venue. Pink Turns Blue(EU), Drab Majesty(CA), Boy Harsher(MA), Children of Night(OH), Shanghai Beach(NYC), Glume from right here in Utah. This list could go on and on. I suggest checking their calendar often as many bands end up playing here on their way through, so some shows do not have too much notice on the calendar. Good drink prices and even a water cooler where you can just get a paper cup from the bar and grab your own water whenever, making it very convenient. A nice outside patio area for those wanting to have some nicotine, or a place to hang out, talk and meet new people.
This unique venue brings so many great bands to Utah. Great place to listen to good music and get a drink. The time the band begins to play is always a bit unknown but they have gotten a lot better with that through the years.
Love the Urban Lounge. For such a small venue such great bands play here. Appreciate the free water. Great crowds, great staff. The sound isnt super great, but this place is a SLC treasure.
The Urban lounge had a very intimate feel to it and had a great lineup the night I went. My only complaint is that the sound was setup very poorly. The vocals and instruments were set to the exact same volume which made understanding the lyrics very difficult.
Bartenders were amazing! The bouncer was hilarious! Wish the A/C was on, but it was a great venue!
Always a great time to be had here! Ive seen so many awesome shows at Urban Lounge, & they just keep coming. Their staff is always so amazing. I love this place!
I was there for a concert. I didnt order drinks or anything but the venue is excellent for a concert.
Band covers are cheap, and they get a wide variety of acts. Alcohol selection is decent, if not a little over priced for what you get. Sound system is pretty decent and what youd expect for this type of venue.
Urban Lounge is fantastic. Small and intimate, which makes for an amazing time when youre catching a band that you love... and actually want to SEE. Ive also been able to meet many of my favorite bands at this venue, a definite perk.
Nice vibe on the inside. Not the best acoustics though since it is square-shaped with not a vaulted ceiling. So basically that means bring ear-plugs unless you want some ringing in your ears afterwards (and long-term hearing damage). Bar inside, drinks are about $6-10 dollars. Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive. Saw Julia Jacklin here and she was really good. Get there right when it opens if you want to sit down during the concert, otherwise youll be standing the whole time.
Small, it gets wayy too hot not enough air circulation. Sound system was meh but that might have been the performers fault. Alcohol was not great, tasted stale and old. Wont be going back.
Always a good time here! Love the consistent entertainment, social crowds, and staff are friendly. Smaller venue, rock and roll vibe, table seating, and back patio area. Highly recommend this place. Find a show and go. 🚀🎶🍻
I told my wife one of my favorite Post-Rock bands was going to be coming to Salt Lake to play at the Urban Lounge on Aug 9th, and I really wanted to go. Back in May, she surprised me with two tickets so that we could go to the concert. Though we were pleased with the atmosphere and the vibe of the venue, and our overall experience was great, for our first time here, it did not start that way.Our IDs were checked, then we moved up to the counter to give the guy our tickets. We gave him our tickets, and then he asked for a last name so that he could find us on a list the venue had created with the names of all the people who had purchased tickets. My wife gave him my last name (obviously), but he said it wasnt on the list. She then gave him her maiden last name, but he still could not find her on the list. He apologized and went to turn us away, wasnt going to let us into the show, even though we had our tickets. Seconds later, I spotted her name, which they had cut short, and put her middle name as her last name. Had it not been for the fact that I spotted her name, we wouldnt have been let in.I understand if he was just following the venues policy, but he did not even ask to see my wifes confirmation email, which we would have been more than happy to show him. She bought these tickets months ago, as a Mothers Day gift. The tickets also had barcodes on them, but were not being scanned.Even though the venue has a cool atmosphere, their entry and ticket system obviously needs to be updated, because the one they have now is not efficient. What if someone else had pointed at her name and said that was them? Then they would have been let in, and we would have been screwed, even if our last names had actually been on the list. There is also no re-entry, once the music starts to play.
I enjoyed the show at the urban lounge. It is a small and intimate venue. The bar was more of a venue bar, slightly limited selection with plastic cups instead of glass. Overall, the venue is good though, and the bands they schedule are good
Nice venue, easy to get close to stage, location is easy to park at with food nearby. Very few seats and they are extra, pretty much just standing room
It’s been awhile since going to a show here, but my last time visiting was about a year ago to see Choir Boy. After attending many shows here I have to say that this is one of my favorite venues in Utah. I can’t wait to come back for another show eventually!
Love this venue, its small but intimate. Love the benches and booths and they have ice cold beer and a lot of open floor space even for tables. The sound is great too especially for the size!
Love this venue! Its relatively small, so it seems to get primarily local/regional bands playing, but you do get the occasional band that has a national/international fanbase (though they tend to be a bit obscure and have cult followings).
Unfriendliest bartenders in town. Left a tip begrudgingly.
They didnt accept credit cards when I went, and did cash only, but did have an atm inside. The bar was pretty clean. We went for a concert and it was great. It was intimate as it was a small area so we were close to the band. Standing area on most of the floor, but there were booths to sit in too.
Sounded great, no barriers in front of the stage, and good drinks (albeit expensive but thats just music venues these days). A surprising amount of free street parking for SLC.
One of my favorite venues in Salt Lake. Perfect size for an intimate experience with awesome bookings
One of the worst venues I have been to. AS TERRIBLE AS THE COMPLEX. Super 1 star. Artist!! DO NOT BOOK VENUE. Terrible ticket sales and the most worst costumer service in Salt Lake City.
What a great cafe! My new favorite study spot in SLC. Great vibe, coffee, wifi and food. They have some super unique sticker dispenser that is a lot of fun too.But really, the food here at is great, especially for a cafe. Ive liked everything that I have tried so far.Easy parking too!I would recommend this place for sure.
Its been many years since I visited this place and I was happy to see that it had been cleaned up, remodeled some, new sound system and a sound engineer! Much nicer place to listen to a local band than last time. Id go again.
One of my favorite venues in SLC! Small and cozy. Sound is always good. Drinks are priced what you would expect at a venue. They have an ATM inside if you need some cash for merch, but the bar accepts cards.
It’s a good concert venue; a bit difficult to order a drink during shows, but I don’t know what they could do about that. I appreciate the self-serve water station
Great place for live music, local and tourng bands are always coming through this smaller 21 and older venue. The bands are generally leaning to the punk variety, but I have seen plenty of metal and semi-pop bands here throughout the years! Cheers!
Nice little place. Acoustics are great. Parking is hard to get but if you show up early around 2 hours early you can find parking on street. Across street is parking structure to. But not sure if public.
Really great venue, very enjoyable. I saw Electric Guest and everyone that was there was awesome. Easy to get in and out. Very open atmosphere and the aesthetic is nice. The staff was nice too.
A decent place to make you feel like your back at your high school garage kegger. I wouldnt consider it a lounge outside of the super uncomfortable benches in the back.Bartenders and staff were super chill and nice, maybe I just went on an off day, will give it another shot.
My friends and I were in a bind for tickets after having planned a whole trip down from Jackson. We idiotically didnt think the show would sell out, which it did. The staff over at Urban Lounge were great to us, showing us great hospitality and flexibility for a couple of out of towners. Rad atmosphere, cool people, good shows.
This is a great venue for intimate shows, the staff is always cool with me, but Im not a dick to them, the venue has seen some huge improvements since I first started going here 13 years ago, and the drink prices havent changed! Cheap drinks and fun times!
Usually fun shows. Dont expect to find a place to sit, there are just a few booths and stools. Its mostly standing infront of the band.Drinks are not the most expensive, but theres not a large selection.Shows seem to always start late.
Great music venue! Has a bar and free water and a smoking place out back. Clean bathrooms and easy to find. Parking is limited but the walk isnt bad if you have to park on the street.
We are at the Beatles tribute now it is mayhem. Absolutely no organization and seriously no seats literally there are 15-20 bar stools and 5 booths and about 150 people standing around if your having a tribute concert have a place for people to sitThe reason for 2 stars instead of 1 or none is because we came to the RISK podcast and it was fun organized started within reasonable timeDefinitely have to rethink our next time coming here
The concert I attended here was great, the actual lounge though... horrible. There’s an awkward railing that cuts through the floor making an awkward separation in spaces. The bar is also located in an inconvenient corner where it’s crowded from bathroom traffic and access the patio.
Good mix of 20 - 30s staff seemed helpful it was a little chilly but the bartender turned it up for us. Bathrooms could use some help and the music in one set was so loud people started to leave, by the next set it was back to normal.
Urban is a legendary spot for both local bands, national artists and even your above average DJ produced dance party. Been attending show here for 20 years and I hope to attend for 20 more! The picture is of the mighty Iceburn!
Saw a really cool local band here called Ratburn. Great local venue with the best bathroom in the city.
Great size for a venue (15 feet from the stage is practically a given), but it can be a little toasty in the summertime.
Shows often start really late. Bring earplugs due to speaker location. The line for the bar and path to bathrooms are in the same place due to poorly placed railings. That said, they have shows there you wont see anywhere else.Take the bad with the good I suppose.
People were being loud and very disrespectful to the band that was playing. We could hardly hear the band at all. Nobody did anything about it. Why bother paying money to see a concert here that youre not going to be able to hear or enjoy?
Friendly staff. Clean inside and out. Great 21 and over club to have a concert. You get to be up close and personal with the artist. Definitely will go there again.
The food is absolutely delicious. It takes about 45 minutes to get your food done, but it worth every minute. Generous portions, nice staff and decent prices. I recommend to call and reserve your table.
Great venue for getting close to bands. Saw a band that I have known about for a long time and this was the perfect place. Average booze prices, personable staff, great ticket prices.
Always a great place to see a show. A nice, intimate venue. I love that the performers usually come out and sign stuff after their set.
Poor audio quality combined with rude bar staff make this one of my least favorite SLC venues. The only perk is that the venue is so small you are always close to the stage.Side note, they stamp your hand but dont allow re-entry. I mean, if you dont allow re-entry, fine, but why the hand stamp then? 🤔
Great place to see a show. Clear view of the stage from anywhere. Great drink selection. Attentive bartenders. Big outdoor patio
Urban lounge is fantastic. Great sound with a very intimate setting. I always recommend going to shows here when you can.
Between waiting until after 8 to get in the door then waiting an other hour for the show to start. Seating is a joke. A few bar stools and tables. When we came to the Risk podcast it was great and organized. But if this the M.O. for most of the shows we will not be coming back.
First visit for a great metal night with Deafheaven! 🤘 I like the intimate setting, right up close with the band. Ill likely be back for more.
Urban pulls a lot of national acts for its size.. it is a great place to see a show, usually sounds good. Dont think if it as a neighborhood bar.. go here expecting to see music.
Cool chill venue always with great shows. Sometimes the sound is too loud, dont forget your earplugs!
The crowd was very rude and nasty. Lots of people hugging and saying I love you, then being total jerks to everyone. I now know what people are talking about when they say someone is fake.A bartender was wearing a shirt that said I love mormon [ dirty word for female genitals]. Im not Mormon, but I found it extremely offensive and derogatory to women in general. There was no crowd control, people were so loud we could not hear the opening act whatsoever. The musician commented on it twice and no one shut up. I went to the counter to complain and the same bartender said there is no way to make 800 people shut up. They could have at least tried, made an announcement on the speaker. Why did I pay $30 to go to a concert I cant even hear? Finally, the drinks. They were not good. I tried the soda and beer on tap and both were foul. I think they had bleach in the ice machine, because thats what the ice and drinks tasted like. After those bad experiences, I ordered a drink without ice and it tasted the same, so Im not sure whats up with that.Offensive staff, douchiest people Ive -ever- met, and terrible drinks. Why in the world would I go back?
Awesome time! Just went to the Pretty In Pink Prom and it was so much fun!!!!! The live band sounded great and the crowd of people were so nice!
Cute little intimate venue. We saw Machine Head, the band was great. The bar was great.
Killer venue, great staff, and they host some phenomenal bands! Definitely worth checking out if youre feel up for a concert.
The classic local venue. Good sound work. They consistently book great acts. Unpretentious.
Saw a concert here! Very fun, more intimate feeling venue space. And super friendly bar tenders
Great place for concerts, decent price drinks, very loud, friendly staff. They need to have bar maids serving people away from the bar. We would had twice as many drinks if they did.
Not a single fan or cooling apparatus in the building last night. Cobra Man couldn’t perform due to heat exhaustion and I really don’t blame them. Blatantly hazardous
URBAN LOUNGE IS THE BEST VENUE IN SALT LAKE CITY! Take it from a born and raised local who is there almost every other weekend, and you know its the hottest spot when only the best bands pick to play there! LOVE YOU URBAN LOUNGE!
Great place to see your favorite band, or find a new one! Large stage, nice lighting and fog make for great pictures as well. I will definitely be back!
They have some good artist there often. Chill little spot. Drinks seem slightly pricey but its a music venue more than a bar so thats not surprising really.
Amazing music in an intimate venue. Incredible staff. Affordable drinks. What more could you ask for? Hands down one of the best places to see music in the City.
I love seeing punk shows at Urban. I make sure to get booth setting with a group of friends, them we just sit back and enjoy the music.
No seats, unless of course youd like to pay $75 more, anything to make a buck.Overcrowded with no where to put a jacket and they would much rather have you pass out from heat exhaustion then let you get any air other then the TINY smoking patio that those who do smoke cannot even fit on. For those who dont you have no options. You leave you pay to get back in. Ridiculous!
Great sound and interesting music. The bar seems well stocked. Parking is crappy, but this is mostly downtown so that is to be expected. Not many tables.
You go here for the shows more than anything else. The drinks are cheap for a concert venue and the space is small enough that the shows stay intimate. It can get packed depending on whos playing.
The Old 97s suck!!! The worst band Ive ever seen! The base player looks like Harry Potter dropped out of Hagwarts and decided to join a band. No talent, like a hacker in golf except he is in music. Just the worst show Ive ever seen.
Theyve got seating, a bar, and a dancefloor. The band and dj sounded great. It felt crowded, but there was also room to get away.
