I was visiting San Diego and went on a weeknight to the comedy show, so there were not a lot of patrons, but the comedians still showed up and did their best in what they called an intimate setting, lol. The waitress still treated everyone professionally and didnt slack off because there were only a few of us there. Would go again if I were in the area.
Came here multiple times to see the great comedian Alfonso Ochoa when hes performing. Its a fun and inexpensive night out.Unfortunately they dont serve food anymore, only drinks. We didnt know that and were planning on ordering food. I did like their Spicy Paloma cocktail drink with tequila and grapefruit.
Cool comedy club in Gaslamp. Seems to be up and coming stars in comedy instead of the ones that have already reached a high level of success. That said theyre still very funny comedians and definitely worth a night out for. There is a two drink minimum like most comedy clubs, but no food here which is a bummer. The best thing about this comedy club is the Annual Pass option. Its $30 a year and gets you entrance to as many shows as you want, excluding the few nights a year when they have an exclusive act.
Terrible line up of comedians, was honestly amateur hr the whole night, other than the woman from Seattle who was quite good. Was told its a 2 drink minimum per person on arrival, which is fine however the bar was so understaffed they could not even get back to serve a second round of drinks, the crowd wasnt even close to being a full house. Really disappointing.
Always happy to give it a go. We went on Friday night. Lineup had 8 comedians. We enjoyed 2 of them. It was expected as they were newbies. There is a 2 drink minimum
This comedy club has potential but they are lacking in customer service. When we arrived we were not greeted for a bit although 4 employees were standing nearby, chatting. Im pretty sure we had the worst seats in the entire place. It was a 4 top all the way in the far back corner. Two members of our party couldnt see at all as the table of two in front of us were not staggered like all the others were. They use a little tea light that you turn on when you want another drink. This isnt doing them any favors as we waited almost 30 minutes to get our second round of drinks ordered. Had it not taken that long, our entire party would have ordered a 3rd round of drinks. Oh well.... Their loss I guess. There are enough drink runners going around, Im not sure why one of them didnt tell one of the two servers to come by.When we did get that 2nd round of drinks, one of our drinks was not what we ordered, which was disappointing. Not that anyone came around to check on us to see how we were doing to mention it.None of the locks in the womens bathroom work. Luckily, we all band together and took turns holding the doors for each other. Also, one of the sinks was completely broken.Id consider coming back if it was for a comedian I know and like, which was why I came in the first place. However, weve been to many comedy clubs that are doing much better.
Its been a while since I have been to a comedy club. This was a great night out. Comedians did a great job and was a perfect way to start out the evening.
My friend and I are visiting San Deigo for the weekend and went to the show last night. When we arrived, the place was almost full. We had an escort take us to our seats, and he asked if wed been there before. When we said no, he gave us a tour as he walked us to our seats and told us where the bathrooms were, etc. After we sat down, the server came to take our drink order. Initially, she was a bit curt when she asked us to move our seats, but she warmed up. The drinks were delicious. We had front-row seats in the splash zone, according to our server. Seven different comedians were performing, and they were all great, including the host. We laughed so hard! The 90-minute show went by quickly and we were able to run to the bathroom afterward before the line got too long. They only had four stalls for the womens restroom, which is not ideal for a larger show like that but still not terrible.
Wish they just charged you the price at the door. I dont want to buy two drinks. Just charge me at the door.Otherwise, love this place. Always a great time.
I would rate it 1 star if the reviews werent filtered out. For a majority of 2023 this venue was paying its employees under minimum wage. The managers are notorious for not flushing the beer or soda lines so I would not recommend drinking from this place unless you want to get sick. The comedians are wonderful but its a shame theyre being taken advantage in such a way. I will be taking my money and support elsewhere. This place should be shut down and its only open because it takes advantage of the people who support it the most, ie, desperate comedians, because it hosts an open mic every night.
Friendly servers and good comics! Drinks are a bit pricey.
This place advertised dinner, but doesnt serve dinner anymore. According to the waitress, they stopped years ago. The website, their banner outside the restaurant, yelp and the reviews all talk about their meals. They should really change that since we went for a 8 pm show expecting dinner and they wouldnt let up deliver food to the show...it went till 10 pm.
The Mad House FavoritesShow starring Alfonso Ochoa. The performance was undeniably hilarious, delivering a great night of laughter. The comedians must have done an excellent job keeping the audience entertained.Money well spent.
Love this club. Great staff & the lineups are always 🔥... great way to support local scene. The owner Robert is a true lover of the arts and that is rare in business people.
Fun cheap place to watch a good show. Have been here 4 times and the lineup is usually good. Two drink minimum. Show up early to get good seats.
So much fun!!!! Comedy seven nights a week. The comics are a lot of fun! The only downside if you care is obviously downtown parking but the cool thing is there IS a parking garage right across the street. I love Mad House :) go!
Opening acts were great. The main comedian wasn’t who I originally bought tickets for, and his set was not the best. They also do not serve food anymore, so I was also disappointed to learn that on arrival after not eating anything; and I failed to find anything referring to that online. We were also approached while walking down the street for free tickets to the show, even though I already paid for tickets in advance which just kind of felt like a waste.
What a great night ! Should have a ticket package that includes 2 drink tickets ...to make collecting easier for the server.
Never fails, always catch the funny people. Last night I went it was a bit tense but they found d a way to make us laugh about it.
Fun experience for date night! One of our highlights of the gaslamp neighborhood. FYI no food, but not a problem since there are so many restaurants nearby. Eat at one of the restaurants next door and then come for drinks and laughs!
Great comedians with front row seats inches from the performers. Well worth paying the small extra fee to get those seats but be ready because you will certainly be part of the show and have a great time. Not for you snowflakes and Karens out there. Now service was great depending on the server. We got stuck with Sarah who wasnt as attentive and barely came around. Fortunately we flagged down the other servers and they were much better. So much so we gave her a tip even though she wasnt assigned to us.The menu was expansive and the quality was great. Fries were cooked just right and the jalapeno poppers were large and not spicy at all. The chicken noodle soup was tasty but the noodles were under cooked. Tried the green devil with good flavor but weak on the alcohol.
Ive recently become a regular attendee of the Mad House Comedy Club attending some of their professional shows along with gathering the courage to participate in their open mics. They have comedy 7 days a week, with the shows starting at 8 and their amateur open mics beginning around 10.Im greeted kindly by the doormen (Special shout out to Rudy & Ben) when I first walk in, and the open mic host, Corey, is always quick to answer any questions I have. Its daunting to get on stage in the hopes or making people chuckle, but Im glad I began my comic journey here.Special shout out to Tabitha--I like that they have a nice Rose in stock. If youre in the area Id recommending visiting the madhouse for their shows starting weekdays at 8pm and if youre looking for some rather wild comedy; expect the unexpected and stay for the amateur open mic as well. Youll be in for a delightful treat. If youre ever feeling adventurous, the sign up reel for the open-mic is available on instagram, early Sundays.❤❤❤
Very nice staff and the comics were very funny
Inexperienced comics. Not very funny. But they have to start somewhere.
Laugh factory was better. Bearded guy who was th host and introduced the comics was horrible and the comics were alright 1 or 2 kickers each. Ive been twice. Just go in with the mindset its amateur hour and you wont be let down.
Funny as heck! Service is great! Drinks on point!I do think their menu is too big, its good to have choices but its waaay too many, I cant see that being easy on the kitchen crew in the amount of time they have to feed a whole room of people. The food did take a bit long to come out.
We went there hungry and they serve no food. The comedy was great but couldnt enjoy it on an empty stomach. Their website needs to be updated.
We had such a great time! All the comedians made us laugh. The service was great And the drinks werent that expensive.
Looking forward to the revamped open mic! Im not a member of the club but would love to try
Love this place and the staff, I was able to do a couple sets here while visiting San Diego! The Management worked with me to get on a open mic with out following to strict guidelines due to me not living in the area. Had a great set with a great audience. After the set I was invited back to an actual show and had a great experience again getting me in the set on short notice. I appreciate what this establishment has done for me. If you are funny they will love to have you. If you are wanting to just try out stand up get to the open mics! It was a great time for me and all of my friends that made it out for the show.
Come early for the comedy, eat before you come, and pay extra for better seats so youre not squeezed in. I got the Cuban and my friend got the fish and chips, they were just ok, not worth that price. The bathroom sink was clogged, there was a broken lock on one of the stalls, and no paper towels. Friendly folks, likeable MC.
Stern warning to not heckle or basically do anything other than laugh or sit in silence. Yet they let a heckler go wild almost the entire show. 10pm show Friday 5/12/23. Try to enforce your rules and or find comedians who can deal with hecklers.
100% understand not getting an open mic spot, but I put my name on the list, 50% of the people didn’t show up, the host affirmed multiple times throughout the night I’d get a spot, and then after 3 hours, nothing.Coulda just told me not tonight; I flew from Seattle to try this place out. Kind of a douche move.
We laughed our butts off. I had a couple long islands that were awesome and affordable. My wife ordered the Cherry Collins off the menu and it was tasty but very small, should have made it a double. We got there right at 6 and were able to get 2 tables front and center.
Really great experiences! However, I dont recommend paying extra for the front row seats. The tables r so close theyre touching the stage and you have to look up to see the comedians. The other seats are first come first serve, so we thought we would eliminate that issue by paying for front row. Dont do it! The food was amazing and the servers were nice!
Went there for lunch on Wednesday. The server was great and I genuinely liked the decor of place, and the fact it was empty. I ordered a Beyond Burger from the menu but that had been discontinued. No problem. After trying again with a Black Bean patty, I was told that had run out of those. Again, no problem. I was offered a vegan chicken burger and enthusiastically agreed, but what arrived was literally the worst sandwich Id every eaten. The bun was stale and I have no idea what they put inside it, but it was godawful. The fries were great and the server was clearly doing her best, so two stars instead of one. I really was hoping for something better and that the chef might have actually put some effort in considering the place was empty.
I went with a large group and we all had a great time. All the comedians where very funny. Good drinks. The inside is vintage. I loved the stain glass skylight. Get in their email list to receive free tickets. Mad House validates parking at Horton Plaza Parking garage.....8 bucks for parking.
Comedy was excellent... food was under expectation. Was told pasta would be a bad choice due to customers complains!?!?Servers were nice but not well organized... drinks were sent to wrong table.. laughed it off but ewww... Will go again for the comedy show but not food... easy 5 stars if only about the show... eat and drink first then baby sit a couple of drinks though the show... just saying!!
Pretty classy on the inside, but still relaxed
I screwed up when purchasing tickets and didnt realize it until we arrived at the event. The staff was amazing to work with at the venue. We ended up not being able to see the show. I contacted Madhouse and was issued a full refund with no hassle. So impressed with these people, we will book next time we are in town for sure. Thank you for just being awesome!
I had a great first time with my girlfriend and family and friends, I will usually listen to the comedy station on Pandora. However, this was so much more fun being in front of the comedian doing their thing! Great atmosphere, food was delicious with great servers. Overall I am curious what big stars are coming here soon!
Staff was friendly, food was good, show was awesome. Great comedians, had lots of laughs, great time. Paid VIP $30, was very well priced and had up close seats. Liked it a lot, nachos and drinks were great.
Great comics and good drinks but I wish they would start selling food inside again. Its super annoying seeing the food they cook in the kitchen carried by your table to someone ordering take-out...
Awesome comedians and the host was friendly and strong as he escorted one disgruntled audience member out of the club. Food looked good, we didnt order any and Drinks were good and well priced. If you are near the downtown/gas lamp district, check it out.
It was a pretty okay for my first time in a comedy club. Maybe I just expected more. The appetizer was okay and on the house. There was a 2 drink min. Per. Person. Drinks were very tasty. We were all just sitting on top of each other, which would probably be whatever if your with a big group. I wasnt expecting it but there were probably about 8 acts. Long story short It slowed down bout #6, but the last act was very funny he woke everyone up. It was a good laugh and experience.
Besides waiting to be seated, the service was great and your drinks (Alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages) were ordered at the table and brought to you!
Cool spot! Friday night was busy, so get your tickets early. Comedians were pretty good and the drinks were strong.
Picking up food orders is terrible here. I came here to pick up an order and was told it would be 10 more minutes. So I wait outside for 15 then go back inside to check the status and was told they were going to the back to check. The host comes back and tells me that theyll have to cancel the order cause they dont have wings. They ran out of that product. I was clearly upset. Why couldnt he tell me that the minute I walked in? He wasted my valuable time waiting for nothing. Never getting take out order here again.
First time to a comedy show. The comedians were hilarious! The server was great. The Philly cheesesteak was overpriced for the size (6in approx). The fries were tastey.
First thing, the staff that I came in contact with were a great bunch of people. The show was great as well, I believe I laughed probably at every comic that went on stage. Even the bad comics were fun to laugh at. All and all I had a great time and look forward to attending another show.great experience and look forward to doing it
Had fun enjoyed it. Havent been here over 5 years lots has changed. I like the new location and huge menu options. Lol besides the comedians I give it 5stars, some comedians felt like there were a little rusty, but overall a good night.
Had an absolute blast! Drinks are fairly well priced (for SD), and the comedians will be luck of the draw but you should know that going in. My only complaint was the show started at 945 and they said we could get in at 9, but they didnt actually start letting people in until ~930/940 or so.
I have witnessed Aaron a manager of the mad house comedy club tarnishing the bar tender to perform tasks that are just not possible at the moment and get upset when they can’t produce the action that’s is not a business I would like to support seeing thisYes and the way he does making do then job but watch them and not offer to help and snap demand and you say that is not ok give a 1 star I am in my right to do to a business that gonna respond the way you have and question me
We came in for their amateur night which was a typical hit or miss experience but what really wowed is was the service and food. While the dishes were simple they were fairly priced and quite good. Would certainly come back for another round had there been another show available when we visited.
We loved it. The comics were funny, always a plus. We had a great time, we had a few drinks. We had the ribs as an appetizer flavor was fabulous but a little to fatty for me. Had a great time!
Waiting for my order until tomorrow 😴😴Updating: answering your replies, I don’t want to be rude, but I was there just for pick up, you have no idea how it’s hard find spots to park at downtown, and I couldn’t stay more than 20 minutes in that place. You supposed to give me the order when I arrive, it’s okay if it’s late a little, and if it’s okay if lates a lot. But I was there for more than 10 minutes and I asked how longer I’d had to wait and people says no more than 10 minutes. So I waited for more 40 MINUTES and nothing. And it was just a pickup. I ask to people about the order and they don’t care anything. I left because I was worried with my car, left the order, loses time and money and my car got ticket. You are great and I understand today was a busy day, but it’s just to be honest and don’t say “less than 10 minutes to get ready”.
Demoted from 4 (from circa Oct 24 2018) to 3of5stars. Awesome NEW digs/venue, at least half the comedians usually rock, nice beer selection, tasty food, nice servers. Buuttt.. in the free MeetUp seating, (thank you btw for free admission and no 2drink min.!) it took extremely long to have $10 (oof) beer order taken, food showed up relatively quickly but drink showed up ~halfway through the show and the 2 or 3 wait-staff were in the way and distracted from the show twice (I missed a lot). Also, wait-staff never asked any tables around if they wanted anything else; sooo, the bar is missing out on tons of lost revenue! Lastly, website lacking in not showing performers faces and/or linking to their social media so you can follow them. Hope this all helps you improve.
Mad House has a whole menu dedicated to vegan/veg foods, Krazy Kates Veg Kitchen. Good to see them cooking some vegan munchies. Seeing a new menu on doordash is great, im down for different reataurants to try. Walking up to the address seeing its the comedy club, i throw any expectations out. They charge $14 for Nashville Hot chicken Vegan Style, the tendies used were no thicker than my fingers. Looking at the lil box they serve it in theres only buns to look at. All they did was fry up these two little soy pieces with hot sauce and a pinch of lettuce with pickles between two buns 🤣. They have some photos of the Vegetarian salads with a decent size patty , those were not used with what i ordered. San Diegan Beyond burger was good, the Homestyle potatoes are great with the carmalized onions 🤌.
This was a fun comedy club located in the Horton Plaza mall. Its at the very end of the mall and you have to keep an eye out to see the entrance. They have a grill, but the food isnt very good and its expensive. Eat before or after the show as there are lots of places near by with much better food for the same cost. Lots of parking options, but you will have to pay so be ready for 10 to 20 dollars for parking.
We went here when Annie Lederman was the headliner. Before she came up, about 6 other comedians came up first. Some of them were funny and some of them werent, but I enjoyed myself either way. The atmosphere was relaxing and the food was good. There is a two item minimum per person, so keep that in mind if you plan on having dinner beforehand. We had some of the their food (garlic tater tots and cheesecake) and was pleasantly surprised. The food was a bit overpriced, but thats to be expected at a comedy club.
Worst comedy ever, i definately lost brain cells i should be paid for my lost time there... lol save your self the hassel and skip this hard to swallow experience. You honestly feel like scratching a chalk board after sitting through your second skit.
Such a fun place! Ive been here a few times and have always had a positive experience. Tickets are pretty fairly priced and they offer discounts on Groupon and Goldstar. Were going tonight actually and I purchased 2 tix for $12 through Goldstar. There are typically 3-4 acts. We went once just a couple of weeks apart and one of the openers was the same as the previous time and used the same routine, so that was kind of a bummer. The good part, though, is that the guy was really funny, so we didnt mind too much seeing him again.Beer is pretty fairly priced for being at a comedy club, around $6-7 each. They did start doing the whole 2 item minimum thing which Im not terribly thrilled about. The food isnt great and its definitely expensive, so I hope this minimum wont last long.
Really awesome place to have a good laugh, great vibes. Basically located in the center of San Diego, lots of good restaurants and night life nearby. Food could of been a bit better but the drinks were great
Only came because I had my job had free tickets from my job. And glad they were free. Personally all the comics I saw I thought were boring but that was me and I dont think the crowd thought differently. Its a tad cramped but I think that could maybe make you prone to get to know those sitting next to you which Im down for. But over all the show was blah. Maybe it was just the comedies that night. Be sure you have your ID when going
I have never been disappointed. Food is great. Drinks are great. Service is great. Comics are hilarious! Can’t wait for them to re-open!!! I will be there 1st night back!
Good spot for some comedy, enjoyed the gigs and the staff were lovely. 2 drink minimum is unusual, though wasnt much of a problem
$20 cover and $12 IPA? Thats roughly a 72% mark-up. Thats cold even for San Diego. I get $8 IPA but $12? I shouldve read the other reviews a little closer. Glad there are 8 seasoned comedians tonight, otherwise Id ask for my money back. Mad House is going to be famous for marking up drink prices and stacking guests in, unlike any comedy experience Ive ever had and I go to shows every time I travel (including two other great establishments in San Diego this week). Door guy tried to tell me this happens everywhere. Absurd. Get this under control. Totally messed up. Who cares where we sit. I wont be purchasing any more drinks tonight. Thats a net loss from this patron. Plus, the seating thing is just odd af. I hope you at least pay your comedians well.
Such a great atmosphere for new comics on the scene and seasoned ones! Great menu/drinks and even offer an amazing late night happy hour menu! You WANT the vegan nachos!
Good place to go with friends and family. Great atmosphere good drinks friendly staff
Amazing evening! Hilarious comedians. Great service. Good drinks. Food is whatever- bar food - wasn’t there for the food, but service excellent. Nice and friendly servers. Definitely a must visit.
For a comedy club, it was not great. Half of the seats are to the side of the stage. Decor was cheap and dated.
Comedians were entertaining, fun night out. Dont waste your time on the mixed drinks! No alcohol & mostly ice.
Very thin crowd, which always hurts the vibe. They ran a bunch of comedians out. I can deal with a dud now and then, but a few of them were not that funny. One even used a Downs Syndrome joke. It takes a lot to offend me, but that one did. There were a couple of good comedians. Probably the worst comedy show Ive ever been to, and Ive been to a lot. Still worth a shot though. Consider your parking options - using the parking garage can be pretty expensive.
Great show. Decent drink menu. Can make them all virgin for the non drinkers. No food.
Fun to be had! I parked RIGHT across the street and they gave me a discount on the price of the parking 😜 yes! Lots of laughs, great comedians and hosts.
We were in town for the weekend and wanted to do something where we could just sit back and enjoy. So, comedy! We both ordered drinks. Service was good. Seating arrangement was comfortable. The comics were alright (most tended to have similar jokes about sex... Is that really the only thing they can write material around?). There was a Matin who was very funny. Would go back for him!Ricarlo Flanagans standup was talking about how easy it is to get girls (his whole skit was on the sexist side) and then noticed my wife and I, which is when he proceeded to go in depth on what physically happens during sex, since we dont experience hetero-sex. He regularly picked on us after that despite the clear hand gestures of stop because he was being on the homophobic side in how he said things. We sat in the front. We knew there was a good chance of interaction. We did not know we would have to endure homophobic comedy. Thats never okay.Thank you to the people behind us who occasionally said stop because he was clearly going in the wrong direction. If he listened maybe we wouldve ended the night on a good note.I had only had positive comedy club experiences up to this point.
Good experience. Some very funny comedians. Would love more female comics. Food was okay and the seating was good for viewing. Get there a little early for best seats.
The club has a great vibe! Parking is a little tricky, so go early. Great stacked seating so that you have a great view from everywhere! Fun & funny night out on the town!
Horrible drinks. Mediocre food. Slow service. Great comedy.Went out on my last vacation night expecting to get buzzed have a few laughs and have good food. Left completely sober and hungry. Could have stayed home and watched Comedy Central.Best bet just to get drinks and food before coming here...
Went there on a Sunday night, with low expectations. The food was tasty, the drinks were strong, and the comedians were all from good to great (host Matt Ritter, Jason Cheny, Jimmy Calloway, Nicholas Anthony, Daphnique Springs, and headliner Michael Malone).
Awesome place for great laughs and great times... My grilfriend and I love it there... The staff is so friendly and professional... Annual pass is the way to go and we will continually go there religiously... Thanks to all...
Way overpriced and the worst drinks I have ever experienced. Im a big comedy fan and have seen many comedy shows in various venues. I happened to be traveling to San Diego when one of my favorite comedians was scheduled to perform at the Mad House. Spent $20 on two tickets plus taxes and service fees. Then $14 for a quesadilla, $12 for tater tots, $11.50 for a well gin and tonic that was supposed to be with top shelf gin (after returing a signature margarita that was nothing but sugar and soda water), $14 for a signature martini that was nothing but cherry flavored vodka, tried to order a cranberry and vodka but it literally had no vodka, it was juice and water and my wife returned the drink. The poeple sitting next to us had problems with their drinks also. The headlining comedian we went to see didnt even perform. But they do validate parking. Add in a tip (the service was good) and we ended up spending over $100 on a lousy experience.
The cheesesteak was on the small side and from The Taste and looks of it they never had a real cheesesteak in their life.
Love the show. The cocktail waitress was very attentive and friendly.
In town on business, I brought my team here for an evenings entertainment and dinner/team building event. We werent disappointed! We thouroghly enjoyed the entertainment and the food. Great service, friendly and able to accommodate.
Ive been a a few comedy shows here, and Ive always enjoyed myself. Aside from the confusion that comes with simply trying to navigate Horton Plaza (which is always a challenge) as long as you can make your way up to the very top floor youll find the Mad House Comedy Club. The lay out is good, but its pretty intimate, and there are more people in there than you expect. This can help or hinder the show, depending on the crowd. It also makes it difficult for the wait staff, who are usually a little slow or overwhelmed. Ive seen some really top notch comedians on Wednesday nights, and any time Ive brought friends along theyre always down to go back again. A little hidden away, but always gets some good laughs.
Comedians were doing their sets and it was OK. I found a problem with the headliner when he went after a person who said she was from a country outside the U.S. asking How she got here? .. It was more like a Brown Shirt interrogation rather than comedy. I know theres fine line between what people think is or isnt comedic but in this day and these times I dont see humor of any type in that tactic.
Came for a pre-valentines night out wit my lady. Free show with a code and had the privilege to see Paul Ogata wit 4 or 5 comedians b4 him. So frekn funny! But feel free to dress up nice or casual, has a line and first come first seated depending on the type of ticket u chose. Cool last minute idea or planned night. Right at the end of the outside mall and u can park in the mall structure and pay nothing once u leave the structure. Inside is nice. The club is not jus a buncha kids, has a grown folk vibe for us in our 30s. Know ul hav a 2 drink min and an appetizer if I remember right, but I like to hav a lil food n drink wit my entertainment. Laughed my head off and a really good time. U shud too
Pleasantly surprised, the comedians were all good to very good. Small venue puts you close to the stage. Food was OK, drinks ok, service was slow but servers were friendly and trying hard.
Cool place to see comedy. My friend did his first open mic there and I did too. So much different than Boston.
First time at a comedy club, just walked in and paid $10/p for the backroom that goes til 1:30am I think. decent beer prices and funny comedians made the price very worthwhile
Pretty fun atmosphere, they had a smaller room with 15 minute segments and a Main area for longer shows. The comedians were pretty good, all self service for drinks though
Easily one of the best comedy clubs in the US. Amazing line ups every night. Including me! Seriously tho, really impressed by the talent and thier burgers are amazing @ron.bush1 for more on LA comedy
Horton plaza may be like the land of the dead. But right across the street, they are pushing the limits, its where laughter, giggles, and Ah ha, moments are. Want a change from the movies and dinner, do both. Eat drink and have a live show, with a belly full of laughter. There’s no zombies in there, it’s they are slaying the dead, by reminding us to crack up.
Waiter was so amazing and accommodating. Food was stellar. My first time to any comedy club. Highly recommend.
Good times there. Some friends of mine, were friends of one of the comedians so we all got free tickets. Never been to the Mad House, but definitely would go again.
Had a good time. Nice performances by the artists.
Good food. We attended a smaller comedy show in a private room. The service was excellent and the comedians were very funny. Both amateur and professionals come.
Really good higher quality fish tacos for $1.50, I’ve had them 3 times now and the same quality each time. Very impressed!
I like this club! We have been here twice and both times we have had lots of laughs. There drinks are good and the prices arent to awefully bad. ya a6 6
Beer was flat, the mixed drinks were plain and overly sweetened with mixer, not well mixed at all. Food was cold and tasteless. Great comedy though, could of done without food and drinks.
Had a great time at Mad House on Saturday. Several comedians. A couple of them not great. A couple of good comedians, and then a couple of really funny comedians to end the night. Easy, close parking at Horton Plaza.
Great staff, Good atmosphere, Great local talent, no food served on sight (only drinks), smoke from outside enters from side door being open
Foods a little wacky ordered chicken wings at 2 dollars each they sucked werent cooked all the way the first time. They also lie about drink specials to get people in they were advertising 3 dollar drinks when u went inside they were 5
It is not that same experience as when they were at Hortons plaza..the set up stage and my drink was horrible..the tater tots use to be good but when they were at hortons plaza, but this new place they were oily as heck.
Good deal on tickets, but food here is terrible - dont eat! Drinks are okay as well. Comedians were good, though
Great shows. Apparently the food’s good haven’t had it but stick to simple drinks.
Comedians were okay. Drinks were terrible and over priced, certainly not worth the money. Venue was fairly nice and San Diego is quite fabulous.
I went on a date with my husband there and we had an amazing time. The comics were funny, the service was good and food was amazing. Well worth the price
Loved it. We had a great time.
REALLY inexpensive drinks and friendly staff. Gorgeous stained glass dome ceiling. A fun place!
Free Open Mic every:Sunday thru Thursday at 945pm;Friday and Saturday at 1145pm.Half price drafts and well brands,AND Street parking is free during these times.
Overpriced menu. Would rather pay more for the show and feel like Im getting a good value for my dinner. Not knocking the comedy. Its a good show.
MADHOUSE COMEDY CLUB is one of our top local haunts when it comes to comedy! Weve seen Brad Williams, sabastian Manisaclco, Paul Ogata, Tom Papa, Flip Shultz, and many MANY lesser known but just as funny local comics! Weve been seeing a comedy nearly every weekend since March 2012. My husband and I have been blessed to have gotten to know numerous comics and the clubs. This place is in my top5! My only downers are the way we have to wait and how crowed it can feel when we get ready to enter. Cudos for fixing the issue with getting refills. The mini lights on each table keeps peoplefrom waving down someone while in the front row and disturbing the comic on stage.
Brutally bad talent. If you go here trashed you might find the acts funny but God forbid you go sober. They are horrible. Go anywhere else than here.
Alot of good comedians some need work. But for $10 it was a fun night. If you do not like crued jokes about sex and that nature stay home and read your bible!
Served dinner super late! The menu was huge with made me question the freshness, but it wasnt bad at all.
We got to see 7 comedians and they were all amazing!! Would def recommend!!
Great lunch the stuffed mushrooms were the best ,and the Philly steak sandwich hit the spot .The corn tortilla soup, was very heart warming for this raining weather great place
I went alone on a Saturday night while on a trip. I had a blast so I brought my boyfriend the next night. A whole range of comedy for everyone to enjoy
This was one of the best times I ever had. Everyone was really nice and the comedian were fabulous, I will be back. Thank you Mad House Comedy Club...😄
Super fun if you like to laugh! All the seats have a good view of the stage.
The service was great, staff very attentive and efficient, comedians were so good, one of our best evenings out, loved it. The chocolate cake was deadly too
Comedians were not that great. Probably why there was no cover. Jokes were not funny at all. Everything else seemed to be good though.
Club is sprawling but doesnt seem to make good use of the space; at the top of a confusing and mostly vacant/failing downtown mall. The comics I saw were pretty good, but the order could use some work.
Love this place. Two drink minimumThe comedians are funny and a worth seeingGreat way to end a Thursday
If 8 could give this place negative stars I would. This place is the joke. The worst seating ever. Literally sat in a booth no view of the stage whatsoever. Will never return here and will make sure I let anyone k now how much this place sucks!
Never been so disappointed. Comedians are randos, drinks are okay, boring atmosphere, spend your time, money, and night somewhere else.
Had a great time! Price is an amazing deal and the comedians were all pretty good
This place is cool we had a great time staff is friendly comedians were good the food was okay.
Had a blast! Great comedians, even had a suprise big wig comedian pop up. Great drinks too!
We tried to pick up our tickets at will call and were ignored. We were told we will need to wait until they seat people before talking to costumers, we have horrible experience there! Was tragic service!
This place was fun! Comedians were better than we ever expected. We would definitely recommend.
Love this place! I go to many comedy shows and this place always has great service and good comedians. Their tater tots are amazing!
Nice cozy intimate place. Decent service, and new menu features vegan choices which made my date very happy
Typical bar food with great comedy also if you are high as a kite and want to see people humiliate themselves for the love of stand up the back room is a great pit stop
Wings were decent, the braised short rib was a horrible charred black brick. Couldnt even eat it.
The Two TIMES I Visited The Shows Were So Funny We Had To Come Back I LOVE This Place And IMA Need My Birthday Tickets PLEASE NOW
Great show for reasonable price, and wonderful hosts.
The atmosphere and service is outstanding. Personally, I didnt think the show was very good.
We had a great time and the comedians we excellent
Nice venue. Youre close enough to follow all of the comedians gestures and body language. If it wasnt for all the laughter there wouldnt be a need for a mic.
Would have been fun, but absolutely to talking during the show or they will kick you out.
The comedians were not that fun the night I went.
A great staff and local and national acts make Mad House a great time for visitors and locals alike (as long as you can navigate the maze that is Horton Plaza).
Big change since they moved Im scoring down on them we actually had a walkout had seats but were moved for the highest bidderleft us standing out in the rain for 20 minutes before they let us in even though they knew it was raining dont recommend this place at all
Had a great night with my girlfriend and friends headliner was awesome would definitely come back
Polar Bear did an amazing show! The drinks and service were great!
Cool intimate bar, with great food and a show. Drinks were a great price.
Last night’s lineup was amazingly hilarious... every single one of them had the crowd rolling all night long!!
Its not the best place for drinks but the comedians do put in work to make the crowd laugh.
Good food, great bar and really good COMEDY! Just dont heckle or you will be asked to leave...
My gf and I love coming here on Fridays. Super affordable with the annual pass
Such a good show. Three straight hours of hysterical 10 minute sets. Couldve used an intermission but would totally recommend.
Great place! They had an awesome line up and i definitely came our crying from laughter 💯
Absolutely poor service. One bar tender for whole establishment. Take your $$ for admission then forget about you. Very irritating!!!
My wife and I come here all the time. Great location, great food and drinks, and very funny comics!
Awesome interior spaces. Great intimate site space. Fun shows... Sign up to get free tickets!
Had a great time...some comedians better than others...which is to be expected. Overall, thumbs up.
Some really funny comedians, food was tasty( though they need to spice up the hummus). Good for the soul all around
This place was awesome. Funny people, great food, highly recommended.
Comedians are always great but I definitely prefer their old location to the new one.
Great shows, great comedians, nice atmosphere.
Funny show, but with too many off-color jokes and bad language.
Great place but service was really slow. Overall it was great experience.
Great comedy mainroom action for a Sunday night and then open mic afterwards. I LOVE Mad House!
Great vibes, right off the edge of the Gas Lamp District.
First time back since the move from the mall.Great show....awesome service....food, ehh.
Actually the headliner was OK but the lead up acts were better
Do whatever you can to ensure this comedy club never gets your contact info. Repeated unwanted spam via text message, no way to stop it.
Overall great time, a bit on the crowded side but manageable. Food and drinks were good
Great place, cheap beer and sometimes funny people
Comedians were funny, drinks are expensive, and the host that sat us shook us down for an extra $10 for a decent seat.
Me and my wife had a great time. Will definitely be back
Ive been here several times and have enjoyed each visit, good comedians!
Nice place, always with a good selection of comedians.Good service and fair prices.
Great staff.Great priced drinks.Come for a time.:D
Great location, fair prices, and always funny comedians making us laugh.
The headliner and one of the beginning acts (young guy with blonde hair) were funny. The rest were okay.......
Cool place went on a Sunday and it wasnt really full but it was a nice and relaxed atmosphere
Do not, i repeat Do Not ask for stationary or any style of writing implements.like ever. You have been warned now go and have a great time.
Top notch awesome show it went all sorts of ways with heckler but it was outstanding.
Paid for the annual membership. Good service, good time. Food is pretty good too!
Nice place but really REALLY lousy comedians. Just painful. Wont go back.
We planned this show to see JC Coccoli but they changed it without any notice to some random guy who wasn’t even funny.
Worth the price of admission, had a good time, comics were hit or miss but thats going to happen anywhere
Beautiful place! Best looking comedy club Ive ever seen.
Out standing show tonight! House was packed and the comedians were great ;)
