The environment is super relaxing and so are the massages. I am usually nervous about stuff like this but the staff was very accommodating, especially the two people at the desk (I believe they said something along the lines of Candice and Noah). Way above my expectations! Definitely pay it a visit.

I have updated this review from my previous comment. The manager reached out to me and offered to make it right. She delivered on her promise and I got the actual massage that should have gotten the first time. This company does put their reputation on the line and wants everyone to enjoy the service they provide. The massage that I got today was outstanding and I feel relaxed and the tension in my body was relieved. Give this business a chance, they will deliver.

I just had a walk in and asked for a hand a foot massage. They said they have to do a full body clothed massage to have those included. Long story short, my body is in pain afterwards. The person cracked my back in bad ways, my muscles feel bruised, there was bone on bone contact multiple times. I do not think these people have any experience or training. My body does not feel better but worse. I highly do not recommend.

Last week I went in and asked for a private massage with a few areas deep tissue but mostly a Swedish style.You pay a little extra than the Asian style foot and body massage in a shared space, but I enjoy the privacy and quality of this style in your own room.Last week was truly an uncomfortable, unforgettable experience. I specifically requested a female therapist when I made the reservation, yet a male entered the room and I had to remind them. 10 minutes later, a small girl came into the room and was pleasant enough but did not speak english. I gestured that I wanted to remain face down and focus on my back. She didn’t know what Swedish massage or deep tissue were and stood on top of my back and pulled me in various very uncomfortable positions and used her elbows mostly over and over again before asking me to flip over. The same Thai or asian style that I did not want occurred with her standing above me on the table and twisting my body into unique contortions. She had never had any real massage training. When she was finished she hopped down and walked out.I let the front desk know what had happened and the supervisor at the time looked at me as though I had leprosy. She glared at me and remarked that there’s just a language barrier and that’s just how it is there. She offered no condolences or sympathies for how I didn’t get the massage I had paid for. However, she said that she’d tell another manager and that they would call me. I never received a call. Perhaps it is under new leadership, and the supervisor is not customer service oriented nor remotely a caring individual. It is questionable as to why she holds this position. The familiar saying goes, “you get…what you pay for” but in this instance at Happy Head, “you don’t get…what you pay for”.

I would say that Happy Head massages are one of the best massage places in San Diego. These massages are ideal for your body. Specially after a workout or when you are experiencing pain or tension in your body. Happy Head massage therapists work positively on your muscles, they are knowledgeable in triggering points or problem areas, releasing you with this from any pain and soreness from your body.Excellent place to relax as well. You can always choose the pressure and intensity of the massage that you want. But I can assure you that their therapists are skilled in use of massage techniques to promote healing and relaxation.I highly recommend this place!

Where can I start I recently went in for a massage! Was greeted by the friendly receptionist up front they explained every massage and recommended me the Asian fusion ! Being the most popular they stretched me out and gave me a great combination of deep tissue/ Swedish. The therapist did an awesome job working out all those knots from carrying my toddler around. I will definitely be back and recommend happy head. Love this place 100/100

This is my go-to place for massages (Sports Arena Location. The prices are great, the massages are always amazing, the environment is soothing and relaxing and the customer service is fantastic. My last massage was given by Rick, he was amazing and I highly recommend him, tip him well :)Taylor at the front desk was fantastic and very friendly too. Highly recommend Happy Head for the best bang for your buck!

Holy Happy Head! This place is wonderful. I tend to leave massages unsatisfied, but I was at complete zen when I left. Amy was my masseuse and was wonderful. She really was able to read and reacted to the massage I needed. I did the most popular package was not only reasonably priced, but also included stretching. It was perfect! I just wish I had known about this place when I lived here!

I came to Happy Head for a massage for the first time today. I got a Swedish massage, and asked for extra attention on my shoulders/upper back area. Let me tell you, it was GREAT! Gordon did a wonderful job. It was definitely worth the price. The atmosphere was very relaxing. The staff we very nice and helpful. I will definitely be coming back!

My experience here has been from good to awful depending on the therapist. The most recent one was awful. They guilt you into a tip even if you weren’t satisfied. My therapist named Mai didn’t massage me very well, left the room three times, kept coughing and spent only 5 mins massaging my back, so I decided to tip her a low amount based on my experience. She wasn’t happy with it and gave me the tip back. She didn’t ask me why or what the issue was. This place is unprofessional

My boyfriend and I went in for the Asian fusion massage and he ended up having a completely different experience than I did. Lucky him.The front desk staff seemed a little discombobulated but were pleasant. Okay, whatever no big deal. Then we get walked back to the room which was peaceful and relaxing. Great. I started to get a little excited for the experience since it had been such a long time since I had gotten a massage. That faded very quickly when my “therapist” started mashing my forehead into bits for the facial/head massage. My hair was damp from showering beforehand which seemed to annoy him because he would forcefully yank it out of the way when painfully rubbing my neck. I’ve never had an Asian fusion massage but repeated forceful rubbing in one area seems wrong? He was actually getting a little winded with how much effort he was using to tenderize me. I mean I’m a snack but I ain’t no sirloin…The remainder of the massage consisted of more forceful rubbing, jabbing elbows, the therapist leaving the room a few times, coughing on my body, and an almost pile-drive into my back. I was in such shock at was happening that I never spoke up so that’s on me but after reading some of the other comments, it seems to be a common theme. My boyfriend on the other hand said his therapist was great and actually had some finesse.I don’t know my therapist’s name but he was a middle aged man. Maybe request a female therapist? Good luck!

I had a great experience at Happy Head Massage! My massage therapist was named Kelly and she did a fantastic job. I am fairly certain that was the best massage I’ve ever had in my life. I got the Swedish massage and it was so helpful after I was very sore after a festival I had gone to that took a toll on my back, legs, & feet. The prices are also affordable, and the staff was very kind and helpful. I highly recommend!

Terrible service. Went for a $55 reflexology massage with my wife. My massage was good, but the guy massaging my wife started a few minutes after mine, half way through he disappeared for another few minutes and my wife was concerned asking where he went and the other masseuses just shrugged as in “not sure” and he ended up leaving a third time( this time is normal, when they go grab a towel, he took a while and another masseuse went to grab him and he came back and took a while to get started again. Lost a good 6-7 minutes from the thirty minute massage. The whole time my masseuse stayed with me and we both ended up ending at the same time. To top it off there was no support or answer when letting the front desk know other than “I’m sorry” I’ll put a note about it. Choose another location please.

Dont buy Groupon - they do price matching (I think Groupon takes a cut of you buy through them). Great massage and value! Even though my masseuse didnt speak much English, she was very good at communicating and making sure I got the amount of pressure and temperature I liked. She was also really careful to not shock me with cold or hot temperatures when she did the hot stones and foot exfoliation. The sheets couldve been a little softer but Im not complaining for the price and quality of service. Highly recommended!

We got a couples massage and I thought I could ignore it but with how my back feels today I have to say something. My session was almost entirely forearm effleurage and some elbow pressure point work. Pretty basic but ok, not the end of the world. The issue is the therapist kept crossing the spine over and over again, and using direct ulna pressure on the spinous processes. At first I thought it was bad palpation or just a mistake, but after the 18th time it seemed this really was her technique! Come on, who taught you? Bone on bone? On the spine? Only if you enjoy bruising your clients. I love a deep tissue but not crossing the spine w direct pressure is basic massage 101. That combined with her body constantly pressing/resting on the top of my head when she worked from the head of the table (now imagine if this was a male therapist), then roughly tossing my arms around instead of just asking/telling me how she wants to position me, and no glutes or anterior leg work...man, Im bummed. Pros are she tried to work out tightness in ESG. The front desk staff are nice but dont ask if we tipped our therapists when we cant tell you the real massage experience because therapists are standing right there.

This place is incredible, very clean and they have wonderful staffs. Jerry is the therapist that both me and my husband will ask for, he gives great deep tissue massage! I go there every week, definitely helped my back pain a lot! This is a much better deal than going to a chiropractic clinic.

I have nothing to compare this to as its my first ever time getting a full massage. The place was clean and everyone was friendly. The massage itself was easily the fastest hour of my life. Enjoyable and, at times, a little painful but I attribute that to years of tension and having never experienced a Swedish massage before. My masseuse was respectful and kind. Overall, I feel much better after the massage than I did before, even though my shoulders are a little sore 😅.Again, cant compare to any other massage places as the only massages Ive ever gotten have come from my spouse, but Id definitely recommend this place.

It only takes one staff member to lose a customer. I usually love this place, but todays front desk staff member, Briana was absolutely rude and added more stress and pain to my neck and shoulders which is why I even booked my massage in the first place. Shame on her for representing Happy Head with her negative energy. I wont be going back to this place again.

My chiropractor from joint chiropractor actually referred me to this place when I was telling him that I needed a place to get a good massage. I was taken back by the outward appearance of the building but when I went inside it was great. The people are really nice and very considerate. I was happily proven wrong about this place. Ive tried the touchless massage which I didnt even think they had but was pleasantly surprised that they did because I dont like people touching me. And I would highly suggest that for everybody to try at least once.

Im honestly only giving this a three-star review because the pain in my back was lessened. Otherwise Id have to say it would have gotten a two. I requested a deep tissue massage. Nothing about the massage was deep tissue. It was more like someone just pushed on me with flat palm for a while. I kept expecting the massage to start thinking it was just a warm up leading up to the massage but it never did. When the oil was applied there was definitely an excess amount of oil. Which led to a solid 20 minutes of oil being smeared around on my back with no kneading or deep tissue penetration whatsoever. Overall, disappointed with the lack of skill involved in my massage as it was definitely a swedish massage that was more penetrative. But as I said my back doesnt hurt as much as it did so thats why Im giving this three stars.

1/27/2023: I was extremely stressed and holding a lot of tension in my back & neck earlier this month. I called Happy Head and scheduled a last minute massage for that evening. My 2 usual preferred massage therapists werent working that night or were already booked, so I was scheduled with Jackson. Not only is he my new preferred therapist. This mightve been the best massage Ive ever had. FOR SURE top 3 and Ive had them all over the world for relaxation, pain, sports injuries and sore muscles.Jackson was incredible from the moment he began! He identified exactly where I needed what within a minute or two and some of his technique was unlike any other therapist Ive experienced. Made a HUGE difference especially in my back & neck.I also have plantar fasciitis, so I requested a full 15 minute on my calves & feet. That was wonderful!Oh! And he probably impromptu spent more time on my head than anyone ever has at Happy Head and that is something I find incredibly relaxing.Ill be requesting Jackson first from now on! :)Front office staff on phone & in-person was as good as ever as well! Have never had an issue with anyone at Happy Head Point Loma. Everyone is always friendly and has beautiful energy.Been coming for over a year now & this remains my Go To.4/25/2022: Everything at Happy Head in Point Loma is ALWAYS great! Customer service at the front desk is super friendly & efficient, their ability to schedule a last minute appt is awesome, and their flexibility when/if something goes wrong on my end (which it did this past time).My massage therapist, Lee, is a master at his craft. I always request him now. Ive gotten both deep tissue and Swedish massages from him. If you need very deep pressure, hes got you! If youd like medium pressure (like I now do), he can do that as well & still be incredibly effective without leaving me incredibly sore the day after. The pressure is great and hes in tune with where I carry my stress. Plus, hell focus on the areas I request (he only speaks Mandarin, so I just tell them at the front desk & they communicate it). Hes respectful and efficient. Very happy with every massage Ive had thus far!They also have their atmosphere perfectly dialed in to exactly the vibe I want when I need to relax, decompress & unplug for 90 minutes. Its the perfect temperature, its VERY clean, its a bit darker for mood lighting, their music is at a good volume and their massage tables are wider than most Ive found. LOVE this place! As does my husband who sometimes goes there too!

We were 5 minutes late to our appointment but they didnt start our session until nearly 20 minutes after the appointment time for some reason. They also ended the session early. We made an appointment for two foot rubs and didnt realize they gave you a full body rub. I usually wouldnt be upset about this but because youre in a communal room with others getting similar treatments, youre unable to undress. I wish that was an option because they use lotion to massage your head, neck and upper back area. They use baby oil to massage your calves and feet. My massage therapist got baby oil on my pants and stained them. Thankfully the lotion did not stain my shirt. When massaging your head, the bed/table youre on sounds like two balloons being forcefully, and constantly rubbed together right in your ear (annoying and not relaxing at all!). They also start the treatment with your feet in lukewarm water while they work on your upper body and by the time they make it to your feet, the water is cold (again, not relaxing). My massage therapist started my foot rub a good 5 minutes after my partner and then spent the next 5 minutes giving me a one-handed foot rub while being distracted on his phone. My therapist also favored one side of my body which made me feel uneven. Lastly, just as others have expressed, we experienced the awkwardness of being prompted to tip and get cash out of the ATM while our massage therapists stood and watched us. Was hoping for a more relaxing experience overall and have no plans to return.

This place was awful. First, the front desk woman mixed me up with some other Black couple. Then I had a very mediocre maternity massage and my husband said they gave him the worst massage of his life. They then cornered us to tip them as we were leaving. This is after paying $140 for horrible massages. I gave them a $5 and left. My real tip would be to get an actual maternity massage table and better customer service.

Hands down one of the best deep tissue massages I have ever had. I had been having some major upper and lower back tension and pain. I walked into the appointment, struggling to posture, with a 6/10 pain level. After the appointment, I left feeling lighter and looser. I could posture better, and my pain level directly after the appointment was a 2/10. I will definitely be returning here again soon and recommending friends and family.

When I first checked in, everything seemed okay. The receptionist greeted me and checked me in, so the check in process was pretty smooth. Just wanted to add, this was my first massage. Anyways, I waited a few minutes until the masseus came to start the massage and when they finally got there, I could smell cigarettes on them. Gross. Anyways, I only wanted a foot massage and there was a language barrier which made it hard to communicate that so I ended up staying through the whole massage. They put too much pressure and the massage actually hurt at times. Plus, after the massage I walked out since I just wanted to get to my car and get out of there. The massage therapist walked me to the front and waited there, just as I was about to walk out the front door, the receptionist stopped me and asked if I was going to leave a tip for the massage therapist in front of them and all the other people in the lobby, then hinted pulling out cash at the ATM in the lobby. I felt embarrassed and I felt that, that was also very unprofessional. This was my first experience getting a massage.

Deep tissue massage was great, the therapist applied painful amounts of pressure which was what I was looking for and he made sure to check in with me about the pressure throughout the massage.

Got an excellent deep tissue massage from Nicole. I’ve been having neck and upper back stiffness, and issues along my lower back and limbs. Nicole was amazing! And so was the front desk woman Bianca, she walked me through everything and made it super easy. I highly recommend this place!!

Had a Swedish massage for 60 minutes at $75 and felt it was worth the value. Nina did a great job finding the right areas to relieve stress and tension. I would return and recommend.

This place is a joke and I strongly believe the reviews are bogus. We were visiting from out of town and wanted a massage on a rainy day since there was nothing else we could do. Based on reviews for area massage place, this one received the best. Upon arrival the secretary says that the therapist dont understand English well so to use certain words so they will understand. We were asked to prepay for the services, and after the experience, I know why.My husband and I paid for a 90 minute full body massage. I received something along the lines of what a 10 year old could perform along with some stretches of my legs that caused me to scream in pain and tell the therapist to stop. My husband received a sub-par BACK massage for 80 minutes and then a 5-10 minute leg massage. When we finished and asked the front desk about the quality we were just told sorry they will have someone retrain the therapist to know what is expected next time. For this reason I can only speculate that these raving reviews about this place are complete lies, and I can almost guarantee these therapist are not certified to do massage therapy.Such a waste of time and money. DO NOT GO HERE, IT IS A SCAM AND A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY

The worst massage I have ever gotten. I have been getting massages at least once a month for 7 years. Recently moved to San Diego and decided to try this place. I did not know it was possible to feel worse after a massage but some how they can achieve that. The most wasted hour of my life to date.

I’m a travel nurse and get massages at most of my assignment locations, I don’t think I have ever posted a bad review - but this was one of the worst, most unprofessional massages I have received. I asked for a massage targeting me left neck, should, shoulder blade - my shoulder blade was given 5 minutes of attention and the remaining hour was full of the weirder deep tissue massage. The therapist left the room 4 times, left the door open even when he returned, coughed, sneezed, and burpee the entire time. No where near the relaxing, pain free massage I was hoping for.

Overall, i felt uncomfortable. I wish that the person would have been introduced to me before I was naked and face down on the table. Also, he never said his name. He just asked mine to make sure he was in the right room. I paid for the 90 minute Asian Fusion massage. Also, at the end I tipped him $10 on a $85 massage and he stood there and opened the money before he left. So that was awkward.- I ask him not to massage a specific area and he didnt understand, he kept repeating softer or harder. So I wish that there wasnt a language barrier. Also, when I arrived my appointment was not on the booked. I called and spoke to the receptionist that assured me that they had a 2pm spot. I had clinicals the next day, so I really needed this massage. The actual massage was ok, except for the part where they use lotion. After rubbing lotion for so long, there is nothing left. I thought that I was going to have rug burns. It was not a pleasant experience.-The actual pressure and type of massage, wasnt for me. I learned that I should have stuck with a swedish massage with oil. I will not be returning to Happy Head, mainly because I just felt uncomfortable.

I just got back from a deep tissue massage and it was definitely a decent massage. It is unfortunate that there was no conversation had between the therapist and I (due to the language barrier) about my needs and what I was looking for. It also didn’t really feel like enough pressure was applied during my massage. The atmosphere is definitely beautiful and I recommend headphones to drown out the chatter in the hall way. Hoping this place could change my mind!

I am a massage snob but was desperate and took a chance and was blown away. I was greeted with a smile and explained their services - I chose the head and neck massage for a bargain $55. Mia was my masseuse and was just phenomenal. Not only was she kind but she gave me the best massage Ive had in years. I will absolutely return, and probably ask for Mia! Definitely recommend coming here.

They need to invest in better towels to lay your face on for an hour. After 5 min of my face on that towel I got a headache and couldnt position myself comfortably. They didnt offer me a choice of male or female therapist so I ended up with a man and was uncomfortable for the first few minutes till I asked to switch. Massage was okay, but I wouldnt go back. 3 stars is generous

My husband and I have been patrons for several years. This place always has great service, and no funny business. The only downside is that you can hear the street noise from some of the rooms, but in general the experience has always been pleasant.

It wasn’t anything spectacular and the ladies that work there weren’t very friendly, except for the one that worked at the front if you want a massage over the blanket this is the place for you.

Please be aware there is a abusive man that works here, Gordon. He became very angry with me after I refused to turn over for him, he tried multiple times. He also became physically abusive with me. I have sent multiple emails to their headquarters and I only recieve generic replies back. All woman should be cautious here!

Dr Pritsker completes a thorough exam with multiple test that enable him to diagnose your issues and recommend corrective exercises to perform along with diet & vitamin information. The Jade massage is an excellent warm up for the adjustment process. I feel better after only 3 visits but will continue, to ensure my body learns how to correct my posture long-term. All of that AND a full body & foot massage! Awesome day.

We came to this place weekly doing couple massages and spent quite a bit of money here, even bought shirts, we signed up for the monthly pass and immediately after both got Covid. We reached out to them in hopes that they would do something about this either start our month then or refund us something or you know just have general customer service, seeing as we spent $600 and received nothing, not their fault, but also we didn’t expect to get sick and bedridden. Not only have we reached out at least 4 times and asked to speak with someone only to be told every time someone would reach out to us, which no one ever did, but today we finally called again and we’re told that the supervisor told them there was nothing they could do. I will be sure to let any of my friends and family know not to waste their money here. It’s funny how you think by keeping that money and not giving us any services or anything to fix it as it truly was just an unfortunate situation, that you are doing well for your company. Actually quite the opposite, this became our date night and had you fixed this we would have immediately after signed up for the monthly plan, yet now you lost two customers completely. Congratulations!

My first visit today was with Dr. Michael the chiropractor and I am happy to say Im so glad I went he was amazing he readjusted my back. I walked in with lower back pain and pressure pain everytime I took a step and I walked out with no pain at all. I highly recommend this place. I will for sure be going back.

I try to come here when I visit my sis in San Diego. I typically get the 60 or 90 minute “Asian style foot and body” massage. You are clothed and in an open and public (not private) spa room which is why it is more inexpensive and such a great value. The music is always relaxing and vibey. I recommend wearing shorts or pants with loose ankles for when your feet are soaking, as well as a loose neck shirt for easier access to your shoulders.

I fell in love with this place! They were very welcoming and my therapist, Mia was excellent! She worked out all of the pain and made me feel brand new! Their prices are VERY reasonable! I cant wait to go back!

Hugely disappointed. I called and specifically asked if they do just foot massages. I was told yes and made an appointment for an hour foot massage to occur as soon as I could get there. I arrived and saw the giant neon sign that says Foot Massage! Yayyyyy! Upon entering, the young lady began explaining the menu on the wall to me. I cut her off and said I only want a foot massage. I explained that I didnt want anything else--no arms, legs, head, etc. She said no problem. They have just foot massages. She talked me into spending an extra $20 for CDB which I was happy to have since my feet hurt and I told her I wanted to reduce the inflammation IN MY FEET. My massage started and it was my head, my back, my arms, my legs, and about 15 minutes on my feet. WTF???? I feel cheated. While the foot portion was great, it was a waste of $59 for a 15 minute foot massage.

Just got an excellent massage from Lee. I had a pain on my back for a few weeks, and I feel much better after Lees amazing massage. Thanks for the front desk woman who gave me many suggestions. I highly recommend Happy Head.

Specifically asked for females for our couples massage ended up with two men who seemed more upset to be working than focus on the issues I had stated i was having. Also my wife asked for Swedish and they gave her a very painful deep tissue.

Beautiful place and friendly staff but I’m 99% positive they gave me a deep tissue massage instead of the Swedish I had booked myself under and left in excruciating pain! It was not relaxing at all.

“Therapist” didn’t even know how to do a basic shiatsu massage. All she did is rub oil on me. I stopped the ordeal within. 15 minutes and got my refund. Will never return nor refer this place.

Thai/Swedish 90min massage was excellent! Requested specific areas to work on and my request was fulfilled. Great atmosphere and very accommodating. I will for sure use them again

The guy that gave me a massage smelled disgusting and was a creep (I dont feel comfortable going into detail about it because it made me feel so terrible). I will never go here again and will probably never get a massage again because it was so traumatising.

Went here cause I thought was a legit massage. But all I can say worse massage of my life no technique felt like someone just elbowing my back the whole time . Should have walked out but didn’t want to be rude but would never be back

Ken was very professional and did a great deep tissue message. I will be coming back for more! I was in much pain due to a prior back injury, Ken helped ease the pain. I am now able to sit in a chair.

Its okay for a basic massage. Some of the massage therapists get too close, have poor hygiene, and hurt you. Sometimes it is nice - hit or miss really.

Knowledgeable, helpful, relaxing, but the language barrier was a little bit of a stall. No problem though, they were amazing

This was my first massage ever the room is so muggy and hot I cannot breathe so the 1st hour with my face in the hole I damn near felt like I was suffocating it was so uncomfortable the masseuse did not speak English so every time I tried to tell her she did not understand,Also it felt more ads if she was just pounding on my back rather than getting a massage probably will not go here again

Gave reflexology as gift, recipient said they would not go back. Massaged feet to point of discomfort and pulled hair so hard he is sure.somw is missing.
