This location is not welcoming or friendly. The therapists I have tried did not seem interested in my comfort at all. The first was so brusque, it felt more like a procedure than a relaxing experience. The second was similar and ignored my request to skip hands and feet. She just rubbed the same area with the same motion over and over again until it burned. She did not give any warning of when she was going to touch my body and it made me jump every time. No polite goodbye or reminder to drink water. Simply said, youre all set and let me find my way to the front. Im extremely disappointed in the service Ive received since signing up for the membership and intend to cancel.
I had a one hour massage and facial scheduled. My facial started late because the employees spilled something in the facial room. Instead of one hour facial, which was a Hydro facial which took two credits. I got 35 minutes. in addition. my massage did not start on time as well. They did not give me the full-time in the massage either. When I talk to the front desk who was a co-manager and ask her what they could do for me she said nothing. I’ve been a loyal customer for probably 20 years, and I am disgusted that this is how they treat their loyal customers.
My esthetician was incredible she was calm, poise and bubbly. She knew tons of information about skin which I never knew! The masseuse was knowledgeable and had excellent pressure, however spoke a ton during the session, lacked time management to begin the massage, she rushed me out after the massage to get her next client. I had some credits transferred to me as a gift and when I booked to this location, mind you, I chose Mission Valley over La Jolla because the parking is terrible and you are more likely to get a parking ticket. I was not informed I would have to pay a large fee for the facial I chose even though I had two credits. I paid it and let them know I was not happy. They also canceled twice and had to reschedule. The esthetician asked if I had filled out the paperwork before I went into my appointment. While I was on time and sat for 30 minutes they did not ask me to fill out anything before or after. Overall, this was my least favorite experience at this Massage Envy. I enjoy the services there and hope to see improvement so when I come back I can have a better time.
Ive been a client for years. Even when I dont use services. I called the hazard center location (because thats where I have my contract) to put a freeze on my account. The employee did not document who assisted me over the phone a d did not update my account. And failed to send me required documents to put that freeze into effect which resulted again in an unexpected charge. When I call all Im told is ill send it now for further payment deferment but pretty much Im screwed from the previous transaction because they have no account on who helped me or record. And thereses nothing that can be done. Not cool. Anyone who opens any account information should be logging in for accouability purposes. Cause now Im the one screwed. And I was very much given like an oh well answ3r
I had services done by Essence, and let me just say I’ll never book with any other esthetician again! I’ve found my estie girl for life! The chemical peel she did has my skin looking and feeling amazing!! She really took her time and recommended products that will work for my skin type. She really cares about her clients and it shows!
Been trying to get ahold of them to cancel my membership for a week. Call nearly every day with no answer, and left 2 voicemails. No call back.
Gave this location a shot since it’s a bit closer to my apartment since moving. Paid $175 for a 60 min facial plus $25 tip for a facial that lasted approximately 28 mins. Despite everyone being friendly, it’s a bummer to have paid full price for half the time. Had a missed call from I assume the manager 1x regarding the matter, no voicemail was left, called back when I was available and nobody answered. I should have never strayed away from the Clairmont location.
So, I havent been taking care of my skin lately, nor have I been doing any kind of self care. Ive gotten facials in the past, and they were ok, but nothing to write home about (or review)That was before I met my new favorite esthe Raina. Her hands are literal magic, and I dont say that lightly. I was in desperate need of some relaxation and pampering, and I got way more than I paid for.When we talked about my atrocious skin care routine, she gave me some great recommendations as well. Im definitely making her my go to in the future!
The worst experience. Had to update my rating. They Canceled almost every single appointment (on day of my appointments as I’m driving to them) In return charging me each month while I get zero services because of the cancellations. Horrible. Had to go to another branch.
I used to manage for massage envy and even went to school to be an MT. I’ve been a member several times over the years. I went into this location intending to become a member again, but was never even asked if I’d like to sign up. The massage was sub par at best and to be honest, the value is no longer there! For ME’s prices you can get a much better massage at a local spa. It’s too bad that it has gone downhill because I really used to believe in what it was all about.
Today was the second time my massage was canceled with 24 hours of my appointment. Today, I was canceled on 20 minutes prior to my appointment. If the customer cancels within 24 hours, they get charged for it. Apparently, this location can cancel within 20 minutes of your appointment time, and you don’t get any sort of compensation.
Massage envy as a company is horrible. Ive met nice people at this location but theres a frequent rotation of managers, theyre phone lines were down for a while and I was out of town soni had trouble contacting someone (I tried calling other local locations and they said they couldnt help), no one responded to emails when I tried to cancel so I eventually had to go into the location when I returned and was apparently given the wrong information by the then-manager and then AGAIN when I called yesterday. Ive gotten different information from every single person Ive talked to and now Ive lost all of my credits before I got to transfer them because everyone has a different story. The lack of communication to customers is a primary reason why I wanted to cancel and this has confirmed my decision. I will never go to or recommend any ME.
I went to Massage Envy for the first time about a month ago. The massage was good, at best, but I was still talked into signing up for a 6-month membership. The next day I did the math and realized the membership was out of my budget, so I called to cancel.I was told that I could not cancel my membership because I had signed a binding contract, and would have to wait until the end of the 6-month term to request a cancellation. Luckily, I had a copy of the agreement, which states, You may cancel this agreement at any time before midnight of the third operating day. I read this portion verbatim to the employee, who then said that I could cancel my membership, but would have to come in to sign a form.I drove straight to the facility and signed the form, but before I left, I wanted to confirm that my membership had officially been cancelled and that my credit card would not be charged at the end of the month. I was told that the cancellation would not be official until the manager called me and that I should expect to hear from her within a week. Well, 4 days went by and I hadnt received a call so I called the facility to get an update. I was told that my cancellation form was sitting on the managers desk and that she would call me within the next few days. Another 9 days went by and I still hadnt received a call, so I called again and was given the same answer.I just happened to check my bank statement and lo and behold, theres a membership charge from Massage Envy. I immediately called the facility and was told that my cancellation form had been misplaced, and that they will process a refund as soon as possible. To top it all off, I decided to review the cancellation form again and noticed that it states that my cancellation will be effective 10 days from the date of this properly completed form...
I’ve tried to cancel my membership two separate times. They say that I must fill out a cancellation form that they will email me, but they never send it out. It shouldn’t be this difficult. Very sleazy business practices.
I got a call past the 24 hour window canceling on me the stretch I had booked, after I waited for almost a week to be able to make it happen. I called to understand why there is a 24 hour cancelation policy to benefit the therapist but not for the customer. They didn’t try calling a different location to try to get me in, or didn’t even offer a discounted rate or nothing. They just canceled on me and that’s it. If it was me calling them with less than 24 hours I am sure they would be happy to charge me.Sent them and email, called them and the corporate.And they never got back to me.Of course I am not using massage envy again.
In the off chance that they answer their phone, which is rare, you’ll be given the opportunity to make an appt. And then after said appt, they’ll spring on you that they charge an extra $10 to use the session you’ve already purchased lol. This location is quite possibly the worst in the area, and should be avoided at all costs.
On 11-15-2021 Contacted by customer service and rescheduled to Monday 11/29/21. I thought at the time it was unusual because Catherine normally works on Wedenesday. I was called on 11/29 and then rescheduled to Wedenesday 12-1-2021. I was then contacted on 11-30-2021 to be rescheduled to 12/20/2021. After being so long without a massage my body was hurting so on 12-13-2021 at 4:37pm I called Massage Envy Mission Valley and spoke to the front desk who said they could apply a 30 min credit to my account for the previous cancelations and book me for a 1hr. streching session at 3pm today 12-14-2021 - When I called to confirm my appointment they said that their Stretching Therapist was off today and acted like I didnt call yesterday. I explained that I needed to speak with a Manager and they said they didnt have one today. POOR Service - Not Honest - Not Trustworthy
My UTC Massage Envy closed effective 3/25/19 and they transferred all of us to the Mission Valley location. Since that is not convenient to me at all, I opted to cancel my membership using the phone number listed in the e-mail they sent out to the membership dated 3/20/19. I spoke with Amanda and Rayelle during my conversations with them and they assured me that my account was closed. They told me I had 2 credits on the account and I asked for a refund to be issued. I had trouble locating the credit card at that moment and they said the refund had to go back on the same card in which it was charged. After a few days I decided to use the credits for a one hour massage for my daughter and I at the Solana Beach location. We used the credits on 5/18/19, as we had 60 days to do so per the email notification. NO MORE charges should have been made after the cancelation I made on the phone with Amanda and Rayelle. Today, I was just reconciling my credit card statements and come to find out they have NEVER stopped charging me. I have disputed the charges with the credit card company and I am LIVID that despite their assurance that my account was closed, they are still charging me. TOTALLY SHADY AND UNACCEPTABLE.
Ive been coming here for years. After a while it became a habit of them rescheduling me or not locking in my appointment at all. They dont care either. They were fine with me canceling. Not wasting my time or spending money here anymore.
I quit last year. It was very difficult to get an appoitment in the late afternoon, after my working hours. Even quiting my membership was very difficult. Traffic was an issue getting to and from this location.Serena was great (5 stars)I miss the former Costa Verde Center UTC location. When it closed, I recieved a voice mail that my appointment had been moved to mission valley, but when I showed up I found out they had cancelled my appointment...inexcusable !!!
I got a massage and facial for my birthday. The staff is friendly and outgoing. It was organized and clean. The check in process is efficient, it helped with the level of service I wanted. Its worth giving up 2$ a day of an expense to get a membership for a much needed monthly maintenance.
My daughter and I just returned from our first visit to San Diego. We treated ourselves to a “spa” day here; massage for mama, facial for her. By far the best spa we’ve experienced. Staff is exceptional! Special shout out to Vanessa who patiently answered our numerous questions. 😊 She represents the spa well demonstrating true customer service.
I had a wonderful massage by Brian who made me feel very relaxed and even used some unique techniques of his own to massage my arm and forearm. I think I received one of the best massages done at a Massage Envy. I want to shout his excellent service and appreciate the staff for fitting in the massage under short-ish circumstances.
I have never been treated worse at a place of business. I arrived 10 minutes early and waited for 30 minutes before I went to the receptionist and ask if I could reschedule because at this point they were running 20 minutes behind and I had work. The receptionist was rude, said that she was going to charge me as a no show, and when I got mad about this she laughed in my face and used profanity. I was speechless. Worst experience.
Had multiple texts confirming my appointment days after it was canceled. Showing up for a missing appointments has become a regular occurrence at massage envy locations.
Charged me $75 because of canceled appointment, cancellation fee not disclosed or not anywhere on their property. But expect u to pay. Should’ve looked at the ratings before entering. Hope u did
I have been to several massage ends and this one was one of the best! Very professional and friendly staff. My massage was just as good a s a 200 spa massage. Highly recommend this location!
Ray is marvelous at his job! Front desk staff are all extremely friendly and professional. Ive been to this location 3 times and it is definitely my new Massage Envy location. Oh and Gerald, great facial experience, very informative and attentive to your needs.
We show up on vacation from New Hampshire and show up days early to set up an appointment to get a long deserved couples massage. We set the appointment at 9 am when they open(there offer which fit our vaca plans). As everyone knows when you go on vacation you always plan other things like visit family that you havent seen in years. So theres no time to reschedule for another time. Unfortunately there masseuse called out so no more couples massage which was supposed to be part of a mothers day gift. As far as Im concerned this was an example of poor management by massage envy. I do understand people get sick, but to not have this happen again do not offer couple massages first thing when you open so if someone calls out you have a backup masseuse to still honor the appointment that I made days before. If I did a no show or cancelled they within 24hrs this corporation would have charged my card a percentage. Guess what massage envy if your time is money so is mine. Thanks for wasting my time and ruining a great surprise to my wife and great mother.
I cancelled my membership in September of 2021, They sent an acknowledgement, but have continued to charge my credit card every month since. I have called and e-mailed many times but no response. Unscrupulous and unprofessional.
My favourite place to get a massage. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. If you like regular massages, the membership is definitely worth it. Everything is clean and organized. Ive never had a bad experience.
Great massage, but I have been trying to cancel my membership to no avail. Manager is never there and the manager is the only person that can cancel it. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP.

Most therapists just do what they feel is necessary, which can be ok, but Ray was receptive and paid attention to my pain and where I needed work.
Clean, professional and very relaxing. Gave myself the hour-long session for a 30th Birthday present and cant wait to go back.
