Probably the most awkward of spaces I have ever experienced in a Korean spa, in several dimensions. At $50, it has a more premium price tag that is not worth it at all. There are 4 shower heads to stand under and 8 sit down shower seats. You can see all 4 showers in full as you enter and they are all in full view from anywhere you are in the men’s sauna space. The sit down showers do not have bowls for the water but they remind you that there is a California drought happening. The thermostat, located right next to showers, was set at 70 degrees. It was very cold in the air, of the sauna space. The spaces to sit inside the steam and sauna is very crowded if there is any more than 4 people. The hot tub uses chlorine and is maybe 97 degrees, which is not hot. The amount of space the cold tub uses, has same footprint of space as the hot tub, which is too much.Suffice to say, completely sober, you’re asking for a bad trip at the automotive repair/car wash strip-mall, Korean spa, unfortunately. Good luck though!

We had the best experience at Yu today. We didn’t know what to expect since we had never been to a Korean spa before. It was wonderful. The scrub was great. I felt so clean and relaxed afterwards. We used all of the amenities and spent 2.5 hours there. The staff were all so kind. I will definitely be returning.

I really enjoyed my stay. My experience has been with King Spas but to compare this was as clean if not cleaner than King Spa. Dude on the phone in the dry sauna I could have done without. Im pretty particular about cleanliness and I think they do a decent job keeping it clean on a Thursday morning. It was not a busy time which I recommend as this facility is smaller. Each room is big enough for a small group. Steam shower was my favorite because I was on my own. I did not use the hot tubs but I got a massage, it was fantastic coming from another bodyworker of many years. THE REPETITIVE MUSIC IS NOT RELAXING. Its a different vibe though, so the private massage is more curtains for a door in private room. This may be to protect the therapists 👀 I would like more than an extra hr for time with massage/services purchase, I went before my massage and face mask and left like a smiling pool of jelly. Ill be back.

Check your bank statements! I went in for a massage ($80) and spa day ($50). I enjoyed my day. However, we noticed that they request a tip upfront AND after service. I didnt leave a tip on my card because Id brought cash for tipping the people who actually provided direct services (the way I believe tipping should actually work). After the massage, they give you an envelope for cash to be paid to the masseuse. I paid a 20% cash tip after the massage, which I think is wholly sufficient. But when I checked my credit card statement I noticed they ILLEGALLY changed the charge I signed for, adding an additional 25% tip to my card. So I ended up paying a 45% tip. Unfortunately this has soured my experience with them and I wont be returning. If you go for a massage, and dont want to pay a tip twice, pay for all services in cash and only tip AFTER the service.

The milk & honey body scrub treatment is exceptional and the staff are helpful/friendly. Unfortunately, the hot tubs cleanliness is a serious concern. Ive developed a hot tub rash during my last two visits, which is extremely uncomfortable, itchy, and alarming once you understand its cause. This issue likely stems from low chlorine levels and bacteria growth in the hot tub. Regrettably, I wont be returning and will need to seek an alternative Korean spa. Yu Spa, I recommend increasing the chlorine levels or emptying/refilling the hot tub more frequently to maintain proper hygiene standards.

*BRING CASH TO TIP* if you’re getting a massage/scrub service done!! Didn’t know we’d be presented with envelopes to tip after our service from our masseuses, which you turn in at the front desk before leaving. We tipped upon paying when we entered, and hopefully that gets distributed to the staff? But it would’ve been nice to know beforehand.Otherwise, we had an amazing first experience at Yu Spa. We didn’t know what to expect, but here’s what we did:- check-in and pay upon entering where you receive a locker key with a # on it, a shirt and shorts set, a small towel and a large body towel- gals and gents head to towards their respective locker room, but not before placing your shoes in a cubby hole that matches the # on your locker key outside the locker rooms- head to your locker #, place what you need in your locker and undress completely - you hit the showers first before using any of the pools/saunas/rooms ~optional to bring a towel with you ~ showers have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash- after showering, you can use any of their areas within the spa. Within the ladies locker room, there was one cold tub, one hot tub, a steam room, a dry sauna room, and a separate area if you were adding on a scrub service. Some ladies were carrying around their large towels, some only their small ones. Some weren’t carrying any. I used my small one to sit on while in the steam/sauna room. There are also a couple bathroom stalls and a vanity area with q-tips and body lotion.- once you’re done, or if you need a break, you put on your shirt and shorts set and head to the one common-lounge room between the ladies and gents locker room. The lights are dimmed and mostly everyone was speaking in hushed tones. This is where you wait if you have a massage scheduled (your locker # gets called).- In the lounge room, they have tea, water, and sparking water to drink. Complimentary snacks include: apples, oranges, candy, dried fruit, trail mix, etc. I saw some people journaling. It was a relaxed, zen space.- adjacent to the lounge area are 3 additional common rooms: a cold room (kind of felt like a large walk-in fridge), a clay room, and a salt room. I wish the clay and salt rooms were a bit bigger because there were points where there was a bit of a wait and it seemed like some guests were so relaxed they were napping, haha.- You can come and go between the lounge and the saunas/rooms/tubs as you please. We would definitely visit again! I think I’d bring an extra towel next time because the provided ones got soaked through quickly between the saunas/baths/showers. I also brought sheet masks for us to wear while we took a break in the lounge room - highly recommend!

I always enjoy the facilites at Yu Spa. Yes, it’s expensive compared to places in LA but guess what? This isn’t LA and there isn’t that much competition. I like that the steam and sauna rooms are hot, but wish the cold bath was actually cold not cool. Scrubs are solid, but massages are not very good (not unusual for Korean spa) and not worth the time or the money. The time limit doesn’t really make sense given most people don’t stay that long, it’s never at full capacity, and it’s not 24/7 so they don’t need to worry about people using it like a cheap hotel - unnecessarily stingy esp given the prices. If I’m in LA, I make it a point to go to a spa up there even if I’d rather wait to go midweek in SD, just because I don’t want to be rushed. Now, Korean spas are not known for their pleasant customer service, but Yu Spa’s front desk (full of non Koreans) wins for absolutely horrible staff. There are always at least a few surly young people who are genuinely annoyed that they have to hit pause on their gossiping and social media. Even if you’re the only customer there, they make it a point to have you stand there for a few minutes before they acknowledge you. As a Korean, I’m very confused about why these people were hired at all.

Let down. Other reviews raved about the body exfoliation/scrub. Maybe this just is not for me but it felt rushed and like we were slabs of meat on a cold slippery table. If it wasn’t so cold maybe it would have been more enjoyable. The process is impersonal. They call you by a number instead of just asking for your name, you are walked in naked in front of 10 other people and then laid on a table and aggressively maneuvered around. The massage therapist didn’t even introduce herself or explain the process. The massage was rough and felt like my toddler jumping on my body.I was scheduled for a 30 min body scrub followed by the Milk and Honey massage. 90 min total. After 70 min they were done and when I asked if it was a full 90 min she told me to go shower.I was shivering during the entire treatment. I asked to forego the massage after the body scrub and she told me she would make sure to dry me off and cover me to keep me warm. That never happened despite multiple requests. Getting a massage should feel relaxing and calm. This was the opposite.Th amenities are okay, they have a good sauna and steam room with a nice cold tub. However, the floor is slippery and wet and you have to be barefoot. It gives locker room vibes not cozy spa vibes. For $175 I expected better. I’d never do this again.

I paid for a the spa service including the tip and my wife forgot to carry the gift card and even though they saw that my information and payment was there they insisted I drove an hour to drop off the so called gift card. I spoke with the manager who didn’t even care if it was her birthday and told me he can’t make any adjustments and yet my payment info and name for the reservation was there. To add more insult to injury when they embarrassed my wife on her birthday they told her to come back another day with the gift card and that they don’t offer reimbursement of funds. If I never told them I would get the authorities involve (better Business Bureau and the police) it Would have been difficult to have the full funds returned. If you still decide to go I wish you the best. Whatever you do don’t trust their smiles they are heartless.

Decent spa - seemed clean and had the basics (hot tub, cold plunge, wet/dry sauna, salt room), but I felt like it was a bit overpriced. The lounge area was very relaxing and had free snacks/tea to enjoy while waiting for a treatment. The massage was great. If you like a firm massage, this is the place to go. I thought I liked a firm massage, but had to ask the masseuse to go lighter several times. I think a nice touch would be for the masseuse to offer a bottle of water after treatment, especially for the price. The reason Im not rating this experience higher is that I felt a very weird, passive aggressive vibe from the front desk staff. There were a couple of times I had asked a question, and she would answer before I could finish my sentence, as if she thought I wasnt worth her time. It wasnt busy at all, and it felt unnecessarily rude. For many people, including myself, this is a very special experience, and for a very brief interaction, you can impact whether or not someone will feel welcomed in your facility.

Pros: cleanCons:1-Expensive at $50! For comparison Wi spa in LA is $30, Riviera spa in Torrance is $28 and I spa in Irvine is $35. $50 is a rip off especially with a time restriction. Plus facilities of Yu spa is the smallest and the worst of these four spas.2-A 3 hour time limit is ridiculous. Spas in LA have no such time limit and are bigger and better. And less costly. If you must put a time limit 6 hours should be the minimum. With 3 hours I felt rushed and couldn’t have s relaxed experience.3- Jjimjilbang is NOT in a traditional Korean style! They have sofas. I almost bursted out laughing at this absurdity.4-Pools/jacuzzis are is quite small. 3 people in each is the max. My knee occasionally bumped into a guy next to me. Awkward!

It was a girls day spa right before the holidays. The four of us went early about 90 minutes to enjoy the wet area facility. I thought the wet area facility was smaller than anticipated. The private massage treatment was pleasant. However, it wasnt a private room. There were snacks served in their common quiet area and not a food court. There were 3 common area rooms that you can explore. We didnt stay longer after our treatment. So its a nice cozy facility if youre not planning to stay all day.

I like the amenities but my complain is about the the cleanliness of the place. The hot tub had a layer of gunk on the top on the water that you can actually see on the wall. The cool plunge pool had floating hair and grease on the surface of the water. I was very reluctant to use it but then did because I already paid for it. The massage was very expensive for just having someone press on your back for 50 minutes. And I also got an eye infection from the filthy water. It’s a shame that the place is so gross. Yes, you do have to shower before entering in the hot tub. They provided soaps and shampoo which I loved! Common area was really cozy, I almost fell asleep from how soft the couches were. I recently found this spa and have visited twice just to use the Steam and Dry Saunas, showers, and cold pool. I find the temperatures to be perfect for the saunas and cold pool. The hot tub, as expected, is treated with disinfectant (chlorine or similar), and I dont care to subject my skin to those chemicals - but it is standard practice. I greatly enjoy the sauna therapy during the cooler months, and the air has been so dry lately.

Ive been to many other Korean spas, and I think the quality of this place was nowhere near its price. Its definitely not the traditional Korean spa most people know of. Sauna is really small, and both the tub and sauna temperature need to be higher. I would highly recommend going to the aqua daily spa, which is located very close to here. Lower price with better quality sauna and tub. If you are Korean and thinking about visiting this place, I recommend saving money for other goods.

This spot was incredible! I’ve been to K spas in Virginia, Georgia, and Washington state and this one was top notch. I’m not sure why this place has any bad reviews because I found it to be incredibly clean, all amenities listed were exceptional including my scrub/massage combo, the temperatures of the hot and cold tubs, corn tea and fruit water always available, the softness off the uniforms (not just some khaki poly blend), the price, the saunas, and how the reservations were spaced out. I never felt like there were too many people in any of the spaces. If you have never been to a Korean spa I suggest reading about etiquette at what expect first and do not expect this to be the same as a western spa experience. It is common to be in a group area for the wet body work and leave your swim suit at home. Be comfortable being nude and tip the women performing body work on you a minimum of 20%.

After reading multiple reviews, I was nervous for my appointment today but once arriving, I paid and was shown around the facilities. The areas are very clean, and inviting. The facility is nude in the hot tub/cold tub, steam & dry sauna as they state on their website. While, yes women of all different shapes and sizes were present (this angered me from the previous review) I never once felt uncomfortable or as if I needed to cover. I minded my business, just like everyone else. Having nude communal area for a spa experience is very common in the Asian culture. I did carry around my small towel to the sauna & steam room to sit on. There are small curtains in between the wet service area beds, but they werent pulled. However, most of the time my eyes were closed or covered so I wasnt paying attention to anyone around me during my scrub and massage. The beds are slippery, so beware, but they do help you from falling off. Overall my experience was really calming and relaxing. My skin is so soft and my body feels renewed. Would recommend to anyone wanting a full spa experience, as long as you are comfortable in your own skin!

First time in a spa, and to be honest I was quite nervous. But, I do have to admit that I had a great time and never have I ever felt so relaxed.Once you arrive, you are treated by very nice staff (Note: this is your time to ask questions, once you go into the lockers no one will speak English). Sure, it’s a bit nerve racking getting in the buff with other people around. Once you clear your mind and get over it, it’s actually not bad. I didn’t feel like anyone was judgmental at all.100% recommend the body scrub. I showered before coming, I mean… like I was clean. And the amount of dead skin that came off me was surprising! At the end I went into the ice room. Which felt like a fridge and not a freezer. Closes all your pores and tightens the skin. And feels quite refreshing. The entire spa is very well organized and clean. Amazing time spent there.

So, I really dont understand what all these 5 star reviews are about. I guess I dont really like Korean spas? This place is large and divided into 2 sides - one for women and one for men. The lockers are large and very clean but once you go beyond that, its questionable. The wet area had a small hot tub, small cool tub and a couple saunas. Everyone, large and small, walked around naked with it all hanging out - clothing is not allowed. The treatment area were like 20 beds in a communal room with no curtains separating the beds, and once youre on the bed, there is very little to no draping. It was noisy and unpleasant. I am not comfortable being completely nude in front of several dozen strangers, but that was the only option. When asked to get off the table and to walk back into the Jacuzzi area to rinse off, I asked for a towel and was denied. The table are covered in plastic, wet and uncomfortable and for sure slippery. They ask you to flip over more than once which was NOT a fun experience. They were rough and to the point; not relaxing nor enjoyable for me by any means. I will not be returning - EVER. Not to mention, my back is still killing me from that super rough massage if you want to call it that. I went for my birthday and was so disappointed at how not relaxing it was. Oh well, live and learn. There are apparently plenty of people who disagree with me.

I walked in this morning with a big smile on my face expecting to get a couples massage with my husband. First off, no greeting upon entering the front door. Just blank stares. One of the women seated at the front desk who was not Korean (She had tan skin and wavy black hair) eventually rang us up for a $260 dollar couples massage. We paid with a credit card. At the time it came to sign the receipt for payment, I noticed that it called for a tip to be included PRIOR to actually getting the service done. I asked her if it would be okay to give a tip AFTER the service was rendered ( I had brought cash with me for that reason). She took the receipt from under my hand before I could sign it, and said to me in an annoyed voice and face “Just ask for the receipt after”. All in all, this employee’s attitude was just a rude and awful one. At that point, I realized I would not pay for someone to treat me with such a rude demeanor. She just seemed like she simply could not be bothered with extra questions. My husband kindly asked if she had any recommendations for first timers and she seemed very inconvenienced about that question too. He would not have asked if he was the person working there. Nobody wants to sign up for that type of treatment especially if you’re there to pay and especially if you’ve come there to relax. I requested for a refund right then and there. But I would never return here nor recommend this place to anyone. Definitely in need of customer service training. Rude. Just rude.

I have been coming here for years, this is a great place. It has gotten more popular and more expensive, which is fine and good for them, they need to be able to run their business. What is unfortunate about the place getting more popular is the influx of patrons who don’t respect the rules in order to maintain a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. For example today I experienced a woman talking loudly on her phone in the change room, and loud conversations in almost every area. I honestly don’t mind paying more for yu spa, but I feel disappointed to not feel fully relaxed at this price point. It’s not their fault since it is the patrons who are doing it, but maybe more signs or more enforcing of the rules would be nice. People come in groups to socialize, it’s not a bar….

Ive been to yu spa about 20 times over the years. When they first opened, it was a wonderful facility, very clean, reasonably priced for the sauna and jjb. However I have likely visited for the last time. The wet area on the mens side has become so dirty and frankly disgusting that I do not feel comfortable using the hot tub or steam room anymore. The hot tub has black mold growing on the coping and the water is greenish, not to mention black grime floating around. The steam room has an entire wall missing and replaced with plastic. For the price, this is really unacceptable as there are other options that offer wonderful facilities for a comparable price. I really hope yu spa can turn it around and get their maintenance in order.

Dont come to the sauna for its extreme disrespect to consumers.First of all, I come to San Diego every month because of my business, and my assistant helped me to make a reservation online, so I chose this sauna to relax in the first place. The first time I came was in January of this year. There was no guide to introduce me to the facilities inside, and the $40 for 2 hour time limit was not comparable to the I spa and Wi spa in Los Angeles ($35 for 24 hours). Not only that, the bathrobe for sauna requires an additional charge? But the thing is, if its not recycled, Id be willing to pay for a disposable bathrobe. As always, I went there 1 or 2 times per month, at the time of appointment. Today, I came here again. Because the steam room was too hot, I was resting in the lobby when suddenly an elderly woman, pointing at my nose, yelled at me loudly, you cant sit here! I was shocked, I asked her why. She said you cant sit here because you didnt buy a bathrobe. She looked like a shrewed woman. I said, no one told me that I cant sit here. She said forcefully that if I didnt buy a bathrobe, I would not be allowed to sit there. I felt like I was breaking the law when I saw her attitude. I was going to make a 2 hour appointment for massage, but I was no longer in the mood. If I cannot sit there, they should have made all the rules clear when I paid for the services. And if I bought a bathrobe, a guide would come to introduce the services? If I dont buy a bathrobe, I would be treated differently? There is no human rights? I cant even speak out, and the elderly woman who was providing the services was like she was having mental issues.

So as a warning Show up 30 mins early!!I’m 22 weeks pregnant so I can’t lay flat on my stomach or flat on my back and my masseuse was confused on how to get me positioned but it got worked out by my husbands masseuse who propped my leg with the pillow on the side and then just gave me a second pillow when I asked for when I was laying on my back. Once that issue was solved though the massage felt amazing on my sore pregnant body. The facility was very clean. I enjoyed the women’s section. I showered as required and the soap provided smelled super good. I since I’m pregnant couldn’t fully submerge in the hot tub (or go in the sauna) but I soaked my feet for 5 minutes and it felt a amazing, followed by the cold tub (which I looooooved because I was feeling too warm in general there already)My husband kinda avoided the men’s section because another man there made him uncomfortable but he still had a very good time with the massage. He should have just used the middle sauna but he was happy enough with just the massage.Overall I will definitely be visiting again especially when I’m postpartum and can go into hot rooms again ❤️ thank you ☺️

Angie, thank you so much for your professional, intuitive scrub and massage today. I appreciate your care and attention. What the heck?! That’s what I was saying when I left Yu Spa. I booked a salt scrub massage and yes I read the disclaimer about it being a fully nude treatment but I wasn’t expecting to be in a common space with so many other females completely exposed. That’s not my big deal though. The salt scrub treatment it self was very rough - I was scrubbed so harshly for 20 min or so. I was up 2-3 times showering off the scrub. The area was full of about 7 other women and it was loud but mostly cause the employees were loud. The massage part of my treatment was a joke, the therapist was super intense as if I didn’t just get scrubbed to all hell before that. Not relaxing at all whatsoever. I so desperately needed to relax (3 days of Disney, universal & sea world with kids!)But I’ll be fair: my massage therapist was nice, my skin was SILK for about 2 weeks after, the spa was clean and pretty inside. Fruit and water while waiting. My husband got a massage and he said it was nice. But loud, he could hear doors opening/closing, employees walking by and talking throughout the entire 90 min.We left confused, overstimulated and bummed. $400 later…

Very disappointed after paying $50 entrance fee to discover the so-called “cold plunge” is actually ambient temperature of 78F. This is not an isolated incident. It was a similar room temperature the last time I was here an few weeks ago and the reception staff told me it was because the spa had been busy and a lot of people using the cold plunge raised the temperature. So I came along today 15 minutes after opening and was the first one in. Had a 20 minute sauna and then showered and got in the plunge, only for my Apple Watch Ultra to show me the water temp is 78F.

Love the facilities and the scrub service. The front desk was so rude and condescending when I went to check in and check out. I was there to celebrate a special occasion and they kept changing my spa time without asking me if that worked with my schedule. I had dinner plans with a friend that weren’t flexible at all, again to celebrate something special. Then they acted like I was being difficult when they were changing things with no notice or call to let me know they had a scheduling challenge. The lack of care and awareness of how their behavior came across stuck with me more than the spa service! I will hesitate to go back and probably won’t recommend it to friends because of this esperance.

I got a scrub with massage that cost 120 dollars and I gave the massaging a tip of 15 dollars and she started yelling at me in front of all the people that 15 dollars was not enough, that I was obliged to give her at least 30 dollars, I was in shock because I was relaxed by the massage and suddenly a person comes and yells at you that the tip you gave her was not enough, the truth is that I felt very bad that they had forced me to pay 30 dollars in tip for a massage 125 dollars.I won’t come back ever to this place!

My massage was so bad it was comical. I had to cut my 90 minute massage short because I couldn’t take it any longer: not a single minute of my deep tissue massage was relaxing or alleviating. Just a lot of super fast, aggressive rubbing back and forth in the same areas. The times she did slow down and apply pressure, it wasn’t at appropriate pressure points or areas in the muscle, but just straight down to where I’d either be choking against the table or my ribs would be crushed against the table. She even started cracking my spine, which I don’t even trust chiropractors to do. I tried speaking up and providing several “corrective” requests but couldn’t endure thru it any longer. The manager refunded me $75 because by the time I walked out it was 60 minutes. I requested refund for half (which would’ve been $90) because I first wanted to walk out at 45 minutes but my masseuse at first said it wasn’t possible. But quite frankly I feel like any reputable business would have given a full refund. Overall a very bizarre and distressing massage.

Yu Spa isn’t terrible—it definitely does what it needs to do. However, I’m gonna be that guy right now and say that I’m from LA and the Korean spas in LA give you a lot more for a lot less. If you’re used to the spas in KTown, just know you will pay a little more to get less than what you’re used to. I can’t speak on the services, though, so I can’t help you there. I will say, however, that Yu Spa is very clean.

Love this place!!! Ive been coming here since there was a little Korean restaurant in the front, RIP brick bowl. The body scrub and wet massage are as wonderful as the dry massage. Theyve updated the common area with lots of comfy couches and side tables and always have fruit, crackers and tea available. They made the cold pool much colder which I loved. The only thing I wish is that the other patrons were respectful of others trying to relax--some had very loud conversations in the common area and womens hot tub which was distracting. And some staff were pretty loud when they were giving their tour. I love bringing my fancy skincare and makeup and having a full pamper day! ❤️

The massages are good because inconsistent performance of masseuse. Some masseuse seem to be rushing. Others are thorough. The front desk clerks need to improve their customer service. Every time I call the girl that answers the phone sounded nonchalant and did not seem to care about what I wanted specifically. Please train your clerks how to provide customer service. They are the first customer encounter experience. Customer service is not thorough and considerate. I recommend Yu Spa to study Japanese customer service. After living in Japan for over a decade they make U.S. customer service look bad. Giving Yu Spa 3 star for lack of good customer service.

So awesome that there’s a Korean Spa here in San Diego (and so close to me as well!) The communal area had light snacks and tea, which was very refreshing, especially after sweating so much out. I got the body scrub + salt massage and it felt great. My only complaint is that when I went (4/22) there was construction going on next door to the scrub room which prevented me from relaxing as much as I wanted to. I also wish the scrub area was a little more private. It was kind of weird to have that done with so many other people around lol.

I am giving 5 stars because the manager was nice to me, but the mens spa has some inconsistent quality. I primarily come here to rest my eyes (medical condition) and do a body scrub on myself. My biggest gripe: sometimes the steam room has the perfect heat and you instantly feel your stress melt away. Other times its so cold that the steam just forms a cloud and only steams every 2-3 minutes like those trash steam rooms at 24 hr fitness, and you come out more stressed than before. I am unsure why this is the case but I have a feeling the staff do this intentionally to peek at the customers through the glass. I dont think its fair for all patrons to get shafted just because some guys might. To be fair for the staff though, I have seen one guy jerk it in the corner of the spa not the steam room. Also, this place does attract guys (mostly boomers) who enjoy staring at you in my experience. This is why we cant have nice things! Most customers mind their own business, though.Other problems: the hot tub is not hot at all sometimes, some soap dispensers dont work, sauna isnt properly cleaned some mornings, mens locker room fan is caked with dust, no body lotion in mens locker room!!, sometimes the sauna has so much fragrance that it burns my eyes (I come here to solely relax my eyes), some shower heads need to be decalcifiedOverall, this place is definitely worth the $5 over Aqua Day Spa!

I traveled all the way from the Chicagoland area to get to this spa only to be extremely disappointed. The place is beautiful and the amenities were a great bonus but the services I received were HORRIBLE. The lady who did my massage and body scrub was excessively rough from the beginning to the end. I asked her several times to go softer and to please slow down but it did nothing. She scrubbed my body as if I was the dirtiest person in the world. I kept saying ouch and lifting up and she’s laugh and then just keep going. My massage was no better. I paid for the coconut and sugar 90 massage with the scrub and she probably rubbed on my body very hard and fast for about 25 minutes. Everything hurt so bad. I feel like my skin is scratched and weft up because she was so rough. There was no effleurage or petrissage at all. She went straight to friction and tapotement. It was absolutely HORRIBLE. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I TOLD HER IT HURT. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!They only received 2 stars for the lounge with free snacks and the bonus rooms saunas and salt caves. Groupon would have been a better I’m 100% certain. I will never go back and I’m gonna make a blog about my experience. Terrible

Disclaimer: I only visited the sauna area and not the common area. The facilities are ostensibly nice, but several issues made me not enjoy my visit.1. Steam room door in mens wet area is broken and makes a god-awful metal on metal shriek when opened. Every. Single. Time. This makes it impossible to truly relax in the steam room. Unfortunately, the proximity of the whirlpools, sauna, and showers to the shrieking door made relaxing impossible.2: Maintenence. There were more than three asian style shower stations where the shower mechanism on the faucet was broken, making use of those stations impossible.

My son wanted to treat his girlfriend to a nice spa on her Birthday. I recommended this place based on my experience at other Korean Spas.Unfortunately, the lady who was in charge of taking care of his girlfriend was extremely rude to her! Also they were supposed to be partly covered during the treatment which that was not the case and in fact at one point felt violated.I felt really bad by recommending this place, so I called and spoke to the manager John and described in details what happened. He apologized and I could tell that he wanted to make this right. He said that he will call me back.He called back and said after talking to his boss, she refuses to do anything about it! Very disappointing!!I asked to speak to her, John said that he is not sure if she will call me!!She never called me. That speaks volume about the way this lady is running the spa. Customers are a source of income and their satisfaction is not important to her at all!!John said that he will talk to her again and will call me back.DID NOT hear back from John either.I get that things can go wrong at times, but we can always try to find a way to make it right. When the person who is running the business does not care about customer service, how can you expect that from people who work there. This is supposed to be a Spa where people spend a good amount of money to get pampered and not to be treated with disrespect!!As a business owner and/or a manager, you set an example how to treat the customers.I have gone to several Korean Spas such as the one in Orange County, LA and Las Vegas and loved them all.I feel bad that my son spent so much money and didnt get what he paid for and his girlfriend had to deal with a very unprofessional and rude person on her birthday.I regret recommending this place to my son and do NOT recommend it to anyone. The ONLY thing that was offered was a 15% discount on future purchases. That offer is for your business to make more money, not to make this right for the customer!!Why would anyone come back with this level of customer service?!Customer service is everything!!!

Didnt like the use of elbow, the pinches against the table, and my knee being pushed to the table. The place is really clean, but a little small. Went there on a Thursday afternoon and there were about 7-8 people in the mens room. This is a legit bath house. Please do NOT try to find a hookup buddy in here. I am gay and went there with my husband, but I was hoping to relax in the hot tub before the body scrub. Instead, I had two guys lightly touch me a few times. The scrub was a little awkward at first because you are nude but then you relax and get over it, in western culture we are more shy but I am glad I was brave and tried it. This Korean spa is a unique experience for most Americans. Youll need an appointment for massage services, but the basics are worthwhile and dont require a reservation. Walk in, pay up, and get a locker key, a couple of towels, and a uniform. Leave your shoes in front. Suggested routine (youll find your own groove): Make your way to the locker room and put all your clothes (yes, all of them) in the locker along with your uniform and the large towel. Walk in to the tub room with your small towel and hit the showers first (thems the rules). Sit-down showers for the Asian/limber crowd (bonus). Now take your pick: dry sauna, wet sauna, cool tub, hot tub. Use the towel to sit on in the saunas. Shower between visits if you like. Show those pores whos boss. Getting a scrub or massage (or both)? Mind the time and dont be late for your appointment. Prepare to have virtually all your skin scrubbed/muscles massaged thoroughly. Breathe deep, go with the flow, and get loose--youre a body thats gonna get worked on, hard. You deserve this. When youre done, hit the showers. Feel that? You just lost a couple of layers of skin and/or had your muscles manipulated into Jell-O. Wanna soak-in the bliss? Theres a darkened room to lie down in, the rest room (go figure). When you feel like it, head back to the locker, use the large towel to dry off with and put on your uniform. Walk to the common area and stretch that bliss out some more. Have some roasted barley tea. Then, hit the clay sauna for more bliss. Then the ice room. Then the Himalayan salt sauna. Then the ice room again. Theres no rhyme or reason, just go where you wanna carry that bliss. When youve had all you can take, get dressed and drop your towels and uniform in their respective bins. Dont forget your shoes in the reception area and to tip your masseuse (cash is king). Exit with that bliss and carry it for days (be cautious when driving). People will notice your bliss and even comment on it. When your bliss fades, return and repeat routine as necessary. 😑

Have been to many Korean spas. This one both smallest and most Western. Pros: friendly service, beautiful artwork, clean and upscale locker room with nice amenities. Best restaurant of any Kspa I have ever been to, a place I have returned to on a non spa day as it is open to the public (not private for spa folks so dont recommend coming in here with your spa uniform, as you have people coming and going in outside clothes). Cons: Small. Hot tub only warm...only 2 tubs, warm and cool. Classic music playing in the common area you can hear also in the dry sauna rooms, salt room etc.. I prefer silence. Half of the common lounge room has chairs! Have never seen this at a Korean spa before. Only 4 people can lay on remaining floor space. Not the place to read and nap like other Kspas. Also, only 4 to 5 max people fit in the 3 common area dry rooms, again very small. Overall- If I was going to save myself the 2hr drive to LA and really craved spa time I might return. Otherwise, larger Kspas in LA are better. I usually spend 6+ hours at a Korean spa but could only manage to fill up 3 here and half of that time was at the excellent restaurant. ;-) If only this place could expand to the size of Wi spa..SD needs LA size Korean spas!

Very nice spa..relaxing and enjoyable. As with Korean spas, nudity is requied in gender separated wet areas. Male side had showers, dry sauna, steam sauna, whirlpool, cold pool, and lay down rest area and plenty of chairs to sit and relax. Locker area and toothbrushes and razors with hair driers. Did see signage about lude acts not tolorated but saw none of it.

Amazing wet massage and scrubbing, except! Seemingly clean facilities, only I ended up contracting ringworm here. Luckily it didn’t spread too much. Probably can’t be helped that something like this happens on occasion due to the moist environment and multitude of people visiting, but it’s enough to keep me from going back.

There isnt a worry in the world that the (clean and well-maintained) hot pools, sauna, steam, clay, and salt rooms of Yu Spa cant wash or help you sweat away. Forget retail or talk therapy. A day at Yu Spa is the ultimate treatment for a stressed soul.

Ive noticed some guys in the spa seem to be there for inappropriate reasons. I suggest they have the male spa goers register at the front desk. If the men are registered at the front then I feel like that would deter men coming there for inappropriate reasons. Other than that.. its the best Korean spa that I know of in San Diego.

My first scrub and wasnt sure about a couple of things like what I do with 3 towels, what one does in the common room, or how sandpaper the scrub is, but staff endured the language barrier and made me feel great. Trick was to get there 30 minutes early and soak, soak, and soak more. They get near your bizness, but its just to make sure youre freshly scrubbed everywhere. And hydrate!
