What a fun vibe! I’d go back a hundred times. The drinks are cheap, the music is popping, the dancers are fun. It’s crazy to see such a turnout during their Wednesday line Dancing nights but after having experienced it myself, I totally get it. Put your boots and cowboy hat on and get ready to shake your tail feather. 10/10 would recommend!
We stopped in here because Chris Stapleton took over San Diego with Cowboy hats and left us with 2 hour waits all over the restaurant scene, so we settled for a 15 minute wait at Whiskey Girl. I used to come here when I was a youngster for drinks but never the food, but Im glad I tried food this time. The drinks and the food were amazing. I would definitely recommend this place.
Great environment. Great 👍🏿 people. Good fish tacos. 🌮 Everything here is smooth regardless of the activity surrounding the area. Great bar for cheap drinks, early 2000s r&b and hip hop. DJ and MC Romeo are amazing. Good music variety. Only thing is…. We need more of the saxophone 🎷 guy on Thursdays! Bartenders are very cute and nice!😊
Great vibes for a night out! A group of 6 girls came in for a bachelorette party and our bachelorette was immediately brought a boa and a crown. The staff also announced her name over the speakers. Our server was very attentive and so kind throughout the night. Every staff member we encountered was extremely kind and respectful. The drinks were great! All in all a wonderful and fun place to spend a night out.
On a slow night they want to gouge you $10.50 for a beer when your a regular here. Makes it so you can only come in once a week instead of 2-3 times a week. With the price of beer Ill assume the owners are taking excellent care of the bartenders are paying a huge salary and the tip is included in the beer price. On a side note one bartender charges $10.50 for the beer the other 7.50 and a different bartender charges 8.50 for the exact same beer so you learn who to buy from and when to just pass on and go to another bar. I had a coupon for a $6 dollar beer then the bartender tells you theres a other dollar tax on top of the coupon advertised price. Its too bad they wont do karaoke on Friday or Saturday its no longer worth the trip here for Tuesday night at these prices for a quarter full bar nothing special. Maybe the owner could consider giving regulars 5 dollar beers to make it worth the trip on a week day night good luck waiting on tourists to come in and gouge. It is not a welcoming environment at all with how staff treats you its more of a give us your money and leave type of vibe they give off
I really wanted to like this place. Vibes seemed great until I stayed for almost 2 hours with the same 5 people singing over and over. There was a LONG list of people waiting to sing, but somehow, the same few people kept singing. We didn’t figure out the issue until a man went up to the stand with a dollar to bribe the DJ. His turn had been pushed so far down the list that he was waiting for 2 or so hours to sing. Also, unfortunately the service was really bad. We asked for ranch, it never came. No worries, maybe she forgot. We asked for more water, it never came. We asked for a to-go box, that never came. We actually had to get up and ask the bar. Maybe it’s understaffed, but man…. I really wanted to like this place :/
They love to recycle the white guy group for hours during karaoke. And they were disrespectful when other people sing. You can spend 30 bucks on drinks waiting to sing. Best to go down the street to get your moneys worth
The karaoke is excellent on Sunday and Monday. The guy on Tuesday has no clue what hes doing and keeps awkwardly playing a long song in-between people singing big hint whene the list is 40 people deep no one wants to sit and wait for the song to play in-between he sure doesnt get the hint of the look on everyones face waiting for the song to end so the next person can get up and sing. This bar should do karaoke Friday or sat. Fire the guy who does it on Tuesdays. Unfortunately I have to give a low star review because of the gouging drinks prices $11 for a beer is ridiculous there should be a good deal for regulars at $5 a beer. I normally come in 3 nights a week I will likely now just be coming in once every other week or 2 as the cost of drinks just kills my drinking vibe
My first visit to san diego. We were walking around and came across this place. We wanted to eat outside because it was pretty loud. The security guards were really helpful. One moved the heaters closer to our table and helped with cleaning. The other assisted when a homeless guy kept walking up to our table. The food and drinks were okay. The wings could’ve been cooked longer and needed a little more flavor in my opinion. We later realized it was karaoke night and went back inside to participate. We had a great time! The karaoke was the best part and made our last night lit.
Minus one star because on a Wednesday night, it started off slow but more and more people started to show up and yet they only had one waitress serving every table on both sides inside and out. Not the best.BUTFood came out fast and had lots of flavor. I’d say the Whiskey Burger is a Must even if it looks rather large (and add bbq sauce on the side to dip/pour, it adds tons of flavor). The BBQ bacon burger was very tasty but to my satisfaction, did not beat the Whiskey burger.Garlic fries were better than the tots as well, which were a little plain.Overall, only disappointment was service.Maybe next time there will be more servers.
When we first stopped at this establishment it looked like a great place for some food. I saw some of the burgers going by and they looked so good. Maybe bad judgment on my part but I ordered a New York strip instead because I was craving some meat and potatoes. They steak I thought was delicious however the broccoli was under cooked and the potatoes were just off almost as if they added to much sour cream and butter they were almost runny. I wouldnt recommend getting this meal however there burgers did look good as they should for a bar.
I didn’t get to really experience this spot but they were kind to me… my feet were killing me and they let me sit in their bar while I waited for my Uber! I will forever be grateful!🥰🦋🙏
The bouncers they think they could beat everyone up who steps foot in their bar. Definitely a hothead bar, and I dont realize that they have to serve the customer and not be tough, guys.
We especially loved that it served grass-fed beef. It was extremely busy, but we got our food quickly and it was great.
Nightclub atmosphere. Service was good. Drinks were amature style. Mix drinks were short on alcohol and old Fashioned was short on flavor. Felt like drinking whiskey neat, which isnt a bad thing if thats what I was ordering.
It’s was nice and chill. Came in for happy hour. Drink was excellent. Service was great. Definitely have to check this place out during the weekend.
Located in the gas lamp district of San Diego. Loud. OK for tourists but I didnt think it had much character. Some of the servers were friendly, others not so much.
Great atmosphere, great crowd, plenty of TVs showing sports. Service was a little slow but I was in no hurry so it did not bother me. The spicy chicken sandwich was really good and a large portion. Great selection of Whiskey and beers. I had 2 beers blood orange and stone ipas. They were delicious and cold. I used a groupon and it was a great deal. Will definitely return when I am San Diego.
My experience here was one of the finest and best than any other place in San Diego in terms of customer service. The best. Our hostess Alex was great in greeting and welcoming while madyson our server provided great insight into the type of drinks and flavors they had. It really helped us order great drinks fitting our needs. For food I would rate it more 3/5. We had a chicken burger and a flatbread but both were ok. I would rate it more like a bar food.
Good food, good portion sizes and good price. We inadvertently went on live music night, and it was very loud and difficult to hear others at the table. Our server was great. She was kind, quick and accurate. It wasnt too busy, which made it easy to enjoy the space and enjoy the meal.I would definitely go back!
The bar was almost empty and we still had to wait for 25 min to get a single drink. We gave up to order food.
I went early so pretty empty cant inagine how busy it gets cuz food was great and girls were gorgeous carfying big smiles and friendly chatter.
Food was good, service was not. Now it could have just been our waitress, she could have been new, but you never know.Although I will say they get you on the quesadillas. Barely any chicken, mostly tortilla. Not worth the price. Our server checked on us maybe 3 to 4 times the entire time we were there. Waited a long time between checks for drinks, then side condiments. We had to ask one of the security guys/bussers to grab our waitress because we were waiting awhile and couldnt see her anywhere. We also noticed her standing out front with a couple coworkers for about 10 minutes while we were already waiying awhile to get our check.I ended up having to go outside to grab her, which took for me to interrupt her talking to her coworkers.Alec, our busser seemed more helpful than she did. So thanks, Alec. 🤙🏼
Nice outside, ok inside, has alot of big screens for watching sports, ok place to bring a date also, food and service was not that good, waitress acted like if she was a hot celebrity and as if I was so, so lucky to get her, I asked for some wings with jack daniels sauce, when I got them they came with some horrible bufalo sauce, also menu said they came with celery and carrots but all I got was what looked like leftovers from the chopping board, at least the beer was ok and not watered down like alot of places.
Whiskey Girl is a great sports bar. They have so many tvs to show all the games at once, their drinks were amazing just like the food! They also had bingo during halftime which I found to be so much fun. Our server Danielle was the best, she was very attentive and nice. Will be going back soon and making sure to ask for Danielle as our server again.
I dont recommend this place to anyone...staff somewhat friendly ask them easy questions they can even answer them..bartender was on cell phone about 7-8xs not even smiling and she was slow..I feel just because the bar was slow the bartender should very fast friendly..food was ok...I got a steak sandwich w/fries..bartender did not even ask me if I like ketchup up or vinegar or mustard...so I eaten 3 or fries and left the rest ..
Great ambiance, cool looking place, had a burger it was pretty lacking in flavor.
Hey, I recently went to this place called Whiskey Girl, and let me tell you, it was amazing! As soon as I walked in, I was blown away by the cool and modern decor. They had upbeat music playing, and the whole vibe was lively and fun.The food was really impressive too. I ordered the grilled salmon, and it was cooked to perfection. The portion size was just right, and the flavors were super tasty. My partner had the steak, and it was also really good with a tasty sauce. After dinner, we headed over to the nightlife area, and it was so much fun! The DJ was playing great tunes, and everyone was dancing and having a blast. The drinks were reasonably priced, and the bartenders were super friendly.I definitely recommend checking out Whiskey Girl Restaurant and Nightlife. Whether youre looking for a chill date night or a wild night out with friends, theyve got you covered. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is awesome, and the nightlife is definitely on point. You wont be disappointed!
Drinks and food were good. Music got so loud during dinner that no one in our group could hear each other. I get upping the volume later at night, and to be fair it’s a sports bar, but our group agreed it was a bit too loud.
I cant give a higher rating at the moment because they have a tendency to over-charge and under-pour their cocktails. I once walked out more sober than when I walked in.Ended up here randomly because there were no hot dog places open on a Sunday. Had the Whiskey burger and it was delicious! It comes with a shot of Jack, so you cant beat that. I asked for my fries to be crispy and they were perfect and delicious. The wait staff took great care of us and were very attentive.I will be trying Whiskey Girl again. If the food, spirits, and service remain this good, I have no problem raising my star rating.
Tried to go on a date Friday night with my wife while we were in town and was disappointed with our choice. It wasnt busy at all, but since we didnt seem like a young couple getting ready to start our night of drinking, we werent given service others received. The food was bland (I had the buffalo chicken sub) and wasnt anything special. Im sure if youre there for just a small bite and a beer, its not a bad place.
Didnt eat here, but the drinks and service was great. I would come back and try the food next time Im in town.
8/18/23 came in for the second day in a row, yesterday was decent enough to bring us back today 8/18… around 2pm , service was off the charts , shift change came at 4 , nobody gave us the time of day. Finally after 30 minutes of nobody checking on us I carried our plates at empties up to the bar and was greeted with ac” oh thanks” not a “ can we get you anything else… another couple in front of us curbside got their food compensated as the service was so horrid … hopefully management reads this and looks at what level I am on with Google Reviews and takes this seriously, there is a pink elephant in the roomOut out curiosity we waited a full hour, 11 customers and still no one checked on us nor the people sitting on the sidewalk
The place was very nice. Ate outside. Only problem was the bar directly across the street. Band started playing. Right inside the front door. Didnt close the doors. They sounded like a Mariachi / high school marching band!!!!! It was horrible!!!!! We have youth Mariachi bands in Tucson that sound a hundred times better!!!!!
Standard sports bar. Nothing special but ticks all the boxes. Couldn’t tell if our waitress just got out of federal prison or is a hipster trying to be edgy — Always tough to read between the lines with the hand tattoos. Either way, she pours em strong. 7.3
Its fine. The bartender was cool and definitely my type. The music was terrible, the performer was I think drunk. Used to be a fun place. Now, its just a bar.
Came here for brunch during the last day of Comic-con. Staff was phenomenal and super attentive!!! Food was delicious and the portion sizes were great considering the prices. Overall 5 🌟!!!
Horrible service. We wont go back. Waitress sat us brought us one round of drinks and disappeared. Came back like 25min later took a food order and we never saw her again. Food took almost 45 min to come out and they forgot one of our orders. Had to walk to the bar 3 times to get our own beers. Even asked another waitress if she could bring a beer and she said ok and then just forgot. I usually tip about 30-40% ,I left no tip here. That was the 3rd time I have ever no tipped in my life. Food was just mediocre.
This place was overcrowded and it was hard to get a drink. I didnt like it. Skip this place. Overcrowded and overpriced.
Great spot to start your night in Gaslamp Quarter. They normally make the dance floor switch around 10:30, so try to get in before then as it’s a popular spot and lines get longer as the night continues. Good service and drinks as well.
Here today. Stopped for a drink, maybe snack. Got a vodka and cranberry and shot of tequila. Was gonna get an appetizer but it took way too long. Asked to close out and still here, 20 minutes later waiting for anyone. Asked the host, she said ok and stayed at the Stand. While I waited another person came to the host to say the same thing. Its like holding my card hostage. Not hyperbole, the longest wait Ive ever had to close out. Asked the host again and the response was ok, we are just busy. I get it. But please just let me leave. Like seriously. Editing my initial statement because we have passed the 30 minute mark. Since asking to close out. 100% serous.
Came here here on a Sunday night and ordered a cheeseburger. Music was so loud could not even understand who or what the waitress was saying. I could not carry a conversation with my wife because ilthe music was so loud.Food was ok, burger was exactly as advertisedPrices were in line with the area. However I wish they would tone down the music a bit so you can actually enjoy the environment, and talk to people.
One of the Best places to watch football in the Gaslight district Ive found. Open early, big tvs everywhere, beer is good, service is beyond reproach, Caesar salad is alright (but whos perfect). Ill come back for sure! Merry Christmas....
I was heading to a different restaurant that happened to be closed, and it was getting later in the day. There werent a lot of choices in the immediate area, and aesthetics didnt make this look like an awesome food place, that it was just a bar, but I took a chance. The bartender (sorry dont have name, but shes a marketing graduate) was friendly, and I enjoyed my time there. I got the chicken tacos, and they were very filled with quality chicken, and fresh pico (no guac as requested). The salsa was very flavorful for the chips, and the rice was just fine too. Pricing was very fair, especially for the comparable area. Thanks for the great meal!
The dj needs to be fired like holy smokes dude
We were visiting from Dallas, TX and staying at Gaslamp. Walked by and saw this bar. Very spacious and a nice sized outdoor sitting area. The beer was cold, and the live music was good. There was a guitar player, who sang pretty good, especially the Santana songs. Nice atmosphere. We didnt stay for late night action, but it seemed pretty popular.
If I could give it no stars I would. Keep all your receipts if you go there. Twice they added 10.00 extra on my cc receipt on two separate visits. I will never step foot in that fraud bar again. Tell your friends.
The restaurant was empty at 4pm but the food came out VERY slowly. The waitress and hostess are pleasant. The pretzel and churro donuts were better than anything on the appetizer platter. The takeaway boxes are poorly made and don’t close correctly. My first ever meal in San Diego. This was not a positive and memorable dining experience.
ZERO STARSBEWARE do not go to this establishment. They have serious security issues. I was pick pocketed here, my phone, credit card and drivers license were stolen out of my front pocket. I asked security if my phone was turn in as was told “no we don’t have any phones and you are the 10th person tonight asking”. No one at the establishment cared and I felt very dismissed. Fraudulent activity was on my credit card within 15 minutes of being stolen. The people they let in here definitely prey on young college girls. STAY AWAY and stay safe.
My husband and I ate here tonight with our 9 month old baby. It was a great experience. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. We asked if they could steam some broccoli for our baby and they gave us a huge portion at no charge. We had the nachos and black bean burger and both were super tasty.I would highly recommend checking this place out.
Love this place. Watched the Padres win!!!
Monday night, so it wasnt too crowded, but our server, Jared, was absolutely fantastic. Not to mention the food was incredible. I had the Philly cheesesteak and I was very impressed. If you are looking for solid food, solid service at a fairly reasonable price, Id recommend this place for sure.
I was there Saturday night and everything was amazing. The Whiskey burger was so big and really good. The best part was the service, Caitlyn and Veronica were amazing. They were so sweet and really fast even though the place was really busy. If you come here ask for them!
Went here for lunch and it was terrible in every way. The service was really slow and forgot several things we ordered so we had to ask multiple times for basic things like water. The food was pretty bad too, it wasn’t very hot and felt like it had been forgotten about. The chicken sandwich was dry and flavorless. Even a cup of coffee and glass of orange juice were awful. I’m sure drinking here is fun and they have a wide selection of whiskey but if you actually want some decent food, this isn’t the place to go.
CHECK YOUR BANK STATEMENT!!! My boyfriend and i came for their happy hour $5 beers after eating elsewhere and watch the Padres game. I had ordered 2 beers and my boyfriend was sticking to one beer since he was driving. Right before happy hour was over he decided he wanted another beer. We waited 30+ minutes until I finally flagged the waitress down. She just kept passing by our table and serving everyone elses drinks and food and ignoring us. I told her I want to close out my tab. The charge was $20+tax. I told her thats not right, the fourth beer NEVER came. She said it was on its way.... AFTER 30 MINUTES OF WAITING. I told her NO, we only had 3 beers. We already waited long enough and werent going to keep waiting. She left came back and only charged me for the 3 beers. OK, cool thats over and done with. But NOPE, I cant sleep so Im here just checking my bank statement and I see a charge for $15+tax AND $20+tax. Called and left a VM for this business to call me back and havent heard back yet. Disputing this with my bank.
Crispy chicken house salad was really good. The steak on the same salad, not so much.
The service here is exceptional. First of all, I was going along my way on the sidewalk and the hostess at the entrance, Alicia, stop me in my tracks offering me there happy hour drink menu. When I said well Im going down the street, Alicia responded with and heres our happy hour food menu. I was impressed by her willingness to be bold and ended up going inside. My server, Darline, a beautiful young lady, came right away to ask me for my order. I asked her about the beer menu and she told me everything that was on top and then I asked her about the snack menu for happy hour and she pulled out of menu and pointed to it and explain each of the appetizers available and then went out to put my order in.While I was still sitting there waiting for my drink to arrive Jerry, the manager, ask me if I had been taken care of yet. Which I appreciated.
I was looking for a quick appetizer and, of course, to try one of their whiskeys. I opted for the chips and salsa and a Bushmills on the rocks. The chips came with red and green salsa and guac. The chips were okay, nothing to write home about. The salsas were watery and bland and the guac was tolerable. Im glad I had the Bushmills to wash it all away.
If I could give this place a 0 star rating I would. We went with a tour guide for bars this Saturday since we don’t know San Diego and came from 6 hours away, this was our last club. Towards the end of the night two of our friends noticed that their phones got stolen. We asked security if they found any phones and didn’t seem to care. That’s when about 10 other people started to come to the securities and told them that they too had their phones stolen. They literally laughed in our faces and said sorry nothing we can do.Also, we found a wallet and attempted to turn in it to security in which one said “keep it, you can’t trust the employees who work here.” CLEARLY. This is the perfect spot if you want your privacy to be invaded and your phone to be stolen from your purse!
While the bartending staff was good, this location forgot that every person they hire, including the door staff, reflects their image. The door guy did less than the bare minimum. He held your ID for second. I probably couldve shown him a Costco membership & he wouldve let me in. There were patrons that could barely stand up, but nothing was done about them. They tried to lock me out and gave me an attitude when I went to check on someone outside. Im sure they will try to say it was because it was last call. Regardless, im not sure why they would give the patron that isnt causing issues any trouble. The rest of my group and my drink was inside. They only let me in because I needed to close my tab. Since I only had 2 drinks for the entire night, there wasnt a reason that I should be allowed back in.If I go back and have a better experience, I will definitely update my review. I however, do not plan to visit or recommend this place in at least the near future
Ask for Graysen and Larry!!! They are the best! Graysen pours the best drinks and has the best gas in all of San Diego! Larry is the punniest person around! Must stop here if in San Diego!
We heard there was a pole for dancing, and so we came here. But we didnt see such a thing! The place was very spacious. They have at least 2 bars to my knowledge. My friends and I had some drinks and danced the night away. We ruled the dance floor, too. Drink prices were typical; they werent as expensive as they are at clubs.According to my friends, I got down and had men lining up to dance with me! I just have fun dancing with my girls when the music is good, and it so was. Plus its always easier dancing in flats!
I loved my experience at whiskey girl. Perfect place for a date or meal out with friends. Drinks and food are all good. Debatably one of the best spicy chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. Staff is helpful, moves fast, and polite. Highly recommend.
Some guy on the street recommended this bar for serving really good burgers and he was right. We were asked for ID at the main door and opening a tab (they hold your credit card) is required inside prior to order. The place has the walls covered up with big tv screens so you can watch football games from every angle. It is a very busy and noisy place, I think more suitable for groups of young people for drinking and have fun rather than a place for couples.
While the service and food was great, management not so much. I there a few days ago, as a stop in on my vacation on the way to LA. I ate and had a 2 of happy hour beers. I lost track of time and had to rush out to get back on the road. When i got back to Michigan i was going through receipts and noticed charges that werent mine. I called to have the charges refunded and the manager was rude, saying i shouldve checked before I paid and there was nothing he could do. Im a restaurant manager myself so I know all he had to do is go into the system find my card and adjust the amount. I will be in San Diego again an although the service and food was good, Ill pass on this place. Managers are supposed to take care of these type of situations not be rude and basically tell you to get over it.
Enjoyed the live music, was a slow night so some waitresses sent home early. So naturally it got busy. But our waitress was Great, plenty of beer to choose from and at happy hour prices. Food was also good.
Fun night out in the Gaslamp area of SanDiego.
Last day in town. Went and walked around the Gas Lamp District and decided to stop in for an appetizer and a drink to kill time before heading to the airport. Saw the waitress a total of 3 times. Im never one to dine and dash but had they not held my credit card when we sat down (which is unusual to me as we werent ordering drinks from the bar) I would have seriously walked the tab. Worst experience ever for my first time ever coming to San Diego.
This place was cool, I would have given 5 stars, but It was a bit dark. I know it’s a bar, but I like to take a look at my food before eating. The workers were very friendly. I did enjoy my fish tacos.
Wow I couldn’t recommend this place LESS. I asked if their bartender could make a simple drink, they couldn’t. No other explanation so I assume their bartender just didn’t know how to bartend that night. I ordered one food item and they came back 15 minutes later to say they were out, guess we’re not eating. Then we got our drinks which they tried to tell us their house cocktail was made with patron? When I asked a different bartender what they made their drink with they told me el jimador. So all I can say about this place is they’re not prepared to take care of their customers and they will lie to you to tell you something better than what they actually serve0/10 recommend.
Good food and service. Nice lunch specials and Happy Hour specials. Plenty of seating with lots of TVs everywhere. Beer and cocktails are nothing to write home about, but the more common local microbrews are available in bottles. Prices are good if you stick to the specials.
I lived in San Diego for close to 1yr. I did enjoy their food. T Their attitude towards stoners & Non locals will vairy. Ur be 100% better off going aka wannabe Hooters , Not,Anywhere else. :( Dont make my my mistakes .
Bar was nearly empty and my fiance requested a song for karaoke. The people running karaoke sang song after song. When I asked when her turn was, it was coming up soon. When it came her turn they gave her card back and didnt have the song or the next couple songs she requested which are all regular karaoke songs. They then told her she couldnt sing with another person there because he had to wait his turn and had requested a song of his own. When they finally let her sing they blocked the entire stage area so she sang on the floor area of the bar. It was the rudest karaoke experience We have ever witnessed. Do Not Recommend.
Ordered chips and salsa, and wild turkey on the rocks. The chips and salsa took forever to come out and tasted really stale and old, and the whiskey had a piece of something floating in it.Would not recommend at all. Theres much better places to eat and drink all around this place.
Terrible, horrible place. My party spent $200+ here and were trying to get on the karaoke for 1 song. But apparently there are local “repeaters” who pay a monthly rate to sing karaoke over and over again. We weren’t discord that info. After 2 hours of waiting to sing we left. Only after the Dj saw us leaving did they call us up to sing (a duo). I felt very disrespected by the Dj as I asked for the que twice to see where we stand. Each time it was either 30 mins or 10 mins away. Very unprofessional as I would never recommend this place to anyone. Go to Moonshine Flats instead!!
Me and my four other friends flew to San Diego from Tennessee to celebrate graduating college. Walking past whiskey girl, the guy at the door, Alec, pushed us to come in for $3 shots. We decide to come in, but he proceeds to take 3 of my friends’ IDs, stating they are fake. We are all 22 from the same state, thus we had the same IDs. 2 of us were allowed in, and they rudely told them they could call the cops to get their IDs back, no matter how much proof we showed them that we were 22. The manager or owner was of no help, also claiming they’re fake and being very unprofessional. After 2 hours the police came and gave my friends their IDs back because they were indeed real. Do not come here unless you want to be stranded on the street without your ID. Btw, the shots weren’t $3.
This is your typical American sports bar. It had an open atmosphere with plenty of televisions with one them dedicated to Chive. So it provided plenty of laughs while eating brunch. Mimosas are bottomless here for $10 which my girlfriend had while I had an American mule. She had the chicken and waffles and I had the San Diego breakfast burrito. Both came with breakfast potatoes which were delicious! My burrito had eggs, potatoes, steak, salsa and sour cream on the side. The steak was full of flavor. This is a good place for brunch and I will be back in the future.
Great place to grab a quick bite after a long day of meetings. I loved the outdoor seating area. Great waitress, wonderful IPA, and a hefty portion of delicious nachos!!
Waiters are really nice, but the woman hosting kareokie was really picky about who gets to sing and who doesnt. I had a great time up untill then. Total buzz kill. I went to go to relieve stress, not to be patronized over singing turns.Basicly one of the guys turn came up and he wanted to duet with me, but the girl on stage wouldnt allow us to sing together. Lame :(👎
Will lie about happy hour prices to get you in the door
Stopped in in a Monday afternoon. Place was spotless and the restrooms were immaculate too. Only planned on a single drink, but stayed for two. The free pours are very generous too!
Stopped in for a low-key late lunch on a Saturday. Many of the tables were full, but we were seated immediately. We then waited over ten minutes to be seen by a server. She took our drink orders, and the. We never saw her again. We gave up waiting at just over 20 minutes. The place wasnt busy. The rest of Gaslamp has figured out how to cope with COVID. Get it together.
Great service and wonderful host. They are very attentive to your needs and the staff was really friendly. They have good choice of beers on tap for reasonable price. I went at lunch time, it was not crowed it at all and there were plenty of space to chose where to seat at.
Pretty good Place and really good Food. But sometimes you need to scream at the waitresses to make an order because of the laud music and sometimes they are less friendly during rush hours. Other than that, great bar/restaurant
Order steak tacos. Taco meat tasted old. Rice and beans were cold. I nicely told the waitress and she was extremely rude about it. She never checked on us after that. Horrible service and horrible food. Do not eat here.
After many many restaurants, this was our favorite! The food and prices were amazing! Our waitress was so friendly and sweet! Live music, sports, amazing!
Heres why you need to listen to my review: I just arrived in San Diego three days ago and found this place through Maps. The service is great and for $30 you can start the day off right. Cant mention the service enough, it was great for a sports bar. 20 beers on tap.
I was in here on a Tuesday for lunch. The bartender was blatantly rude for no logical reason. It was like she was trying to cost the establishment business. Thats how bad it was. I mentioned it to the hostess on my way out, but she couldnt have cared less.I dont like assuming racism, but there really isnt an explanation that makes more sense. I was alone, so I guess they thought they could get away with it.
SLOW service but good live music (plays for a short while) Don’t ask for a double, they will give you a single. Servers are too new, they don’t even know what liquors or beers they have! Got the honey mustard chicken sandwich with tater tots, horrible taste
Waitress , was out side the open window in front of us ,talked to employees. While we kept getting up to go get our own drinks and condiments. We were 4 of 6 customers at the time we went. #bad parenting
Good food. The lunch special was really good. $11 for a salad and a chicken quesadilla. The Caesar Salad was actually really good! The quesadilla was too. They have a fairly good beer selection, but not as big as I was expecting. The waitress was really cute too.
Stopped for a couple drinks. Music was good. Had a good time.
Good live Music, 4 stars! Why only 3 Stars? the stuff gets minus 1 star. Beer all good, seating good, plenty of empty places - band deserves more people, but stuff simply not too nice, so crowd goes to other pubs
Service was supper slow, it wasnt crowded. The drinks were fine. They had live music. Nice size place could be a fun place. Prices are the same as any other place in gaslamp.
Didnt eat here, but the service was superb. The bartender was extremely knowledgable with the selection of local beers on tap. The music was very entertaining and the band played a selection of songs.
Enjoyed this place for drinks and music as well as people watching. Huge selection of beers and booze. Recommend.
Great place to watch sports. Manager and Bartenders hustle to take care of the Customers.
The pros: Greeted warmly by the hostess. The cons: After taking our order we never saw our waitress again until we were finally able to track her down for the bill.Needless to say, for an afternoon lunch in a very empty restaurant youd think service would be better or even existent.
In the bathrooms there is a person expecting a dollar tip to help you wash your hands. Really? No thanks, I know how to wash my own hands. Intimidating and ridiculous. The bar server was unfriendly and didnt deserve a tip either. Overall, not impressed.
This is a nice spot for dancing. There is a side bar and also a gated patio for smoking which allows space for socializing beside the dance floor. I go after the dinner crowd, they clear out tables to create the dancing area. Not as good as the old location.
Good music, nice bar comfortable setting, what else does one ask for on a reg night out? Why not five stars? The drinks are a bit pricey and it gets very crowded! Other than that, have fun dancing away!
Here for a bachelors party weekend... decided to try this place out. So sorry we did.First - no white t-shirts allowed (something about gangs). Are you kidding me?? ... the Rams and Raiders hats and Ts were ok... but no PLAIN WHITE t-shirts?Food was decent... nothing great. I am a firm believer in experience dining... that the experience adds to the flavor of the food - so my palate may have already made up its mind by this point. Because....At 9pm - all those hats MUST come off - or you will be kicked out? What a joke - when asked why ... no reason, no why -- just its da rules from the bouncer. If you are in the military (and dressed) - dont bother coming, they were turning away military personnel at the door. Again - something about the dress code.... they do realize that San Diego is a MILITARY town --- right?
Would have given more stars if the waitress came back to take my order within 40 minutes.. It must be hard to manage the 11 (literally) patrons in here. However, the food smells good.
My husband and I used to live in the East Village, so weve been here for food a couple of times, which was fine. Tonight, we went to the club portion for the first time. While we were taking a break from dancing inside, commenting on the social norms of clubbing, a security guard named Jake told my husband that he looked drunk. We tried to get him to explain how, since we were only talking, and he led us outside. I asked Jake for his card after he couldnt articulate how my husband looked intoxicated when he only had one Corona (which was around $6, so truth be told, we were probably too cheap to get drunk). Chris Livesay, the manager, arrived and told us that he takes his security guards opinion on guests intoxication levels and refused to point out anything in particular that made my husband seem drunk. He acknowledged that this was standard practice for their club. So after two pricey drinks, we were publicly shamed and arbitrarily kicked out of their club. Something tells me if we were two cute blond women, Jake and Chris wouldnt have been as quick to kick us out. This experience was embarrassing and sad, and needless to say, it ruined our night.
This place is ratchet.I havent been to this bar in years, I go online and look up their dress code and get well dressed. As soon as I went inside I saw people in shorts, sport jerseys, hats, beanies and ladies with torn up clothes. Might aswell not have a dress code. Idk what happened but a couple years ago that bar used to be good.
Music selections are okay. Dance floor is cramped as its surrounded by bar seating. Drinks are way expensive and the bartenders are pretty light on their pours. The crowd here is pretty cool though. Mostly chill people.
This place is pretty big and was a lot of fun. When we went, it wasnt very busy (which is good since we brought in a crowd of over 20 people). The drinks prices were really good considering this is downtown.
Service was great, food was horrible. They have Taco Tuesday and their tacos are some blandest food Ive ever tasted. It was cardboard on a corn tortilla. And not just one type of taco, Im talk about all of the tacos. How do you get tacos wrong?!
Still my favorite bar in the Gas lamp.
Place is pretty large, was mostly empty when we came, the music was pretty good. Drink specials sucked, but the bartender was nice. Even after dealing with some big headed frat bros who came in haha
We had an awesome time here! Randomly stopped in on a Sunday and they were having a toga party with a live band and they were fantastic! Really fun atmosphere and good food!
They really need to update their online menu prices. Their BBQ burger is $17 about $5 or $6 bucks more than the internet price. Glad I didnt purchase the Groupon deal before hand.
They try to lure you in with free cover tickets, but it is a scam. Lame atmosphere unless you are in college, and mostly singles. If that is what you are interested in, you will like this, otherwise there are many other places to visit in San Diego Gas Lamp District.
Ive been to the new location more than a few times now. I really like the overall vibe of the place, the staff are excellent, and everyone seems to be really enjoying themselves. It is a fun way to spend a night in the Gaslamp!
Great place with good inside design. Great place to meet there with your friends for a lunch or dinner. Food was good and we all had fun there. Conveniently located in the downtown San Diego.
Came here for lunch cause I live upstairs and have eaten here before great food I ordered the burger plate that also included a shot of whiskey it was very good
This review is for the security guard that had me step out because I made a “swift move” as he claimed. I tried to get him to explain the “swift move” but he could not. My fiancé was dancing with her friends and then I decided to get up from the table and start dancing with her. The security guard (white male bald/shaved head) decided to tell me to step out so I followed he stated that I wasn’t getting kicked out. So I asked him the reason why I was outside then. I was not belligerent or any such. I hadn’t had a drink all day. He then told me I made this “swift movement”. I said what is a swift movement. No explanation just kept saying a swift movement. So I then emptied my pockets held what I had in the air and said pat me down since you believe there is a problem. He said he didn’t need to. So I said why did you take me out when all I did was get up and start dancing with my fiancé. He again said swift movement. So I again asked him to explain this. He couldn’t. So I decided by my own decision that it was better for me to leave the location than continue to support a business let alone a club that has me step outside for no reason. So lesson is don’t sit and then get up and dance with your partner. You’ll be asked to step out and claim there was a swift movement.
Door man was very rude. Wouldnt let me in because a very small part of my tattoo was showing. The tattoo is of smoke (not offensive in any way). I had a collared shirt, tie, dress pants and dress shoes. When I asked if i could go cover the tattoo and come back he said no because he has already seen it. So I guess Im banned from this place forever for doing nothing wrong. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else
If you are ever after a burger that it is pointless to wipe your hands, or face, until after you eat the whole burger... this place ROCKS! The bbq burger is where it’s at! And the fries are very good!
Bartenders are very rude and quite literally demand a large tip every time you make a purchase or they refuse to service you after the second purchase. added extra charges to my card adding up to $400+. had to call and demand my money back. dont ever go here
Good fun. good drinks. friendly staff. friendly people. awesome DJ! I did not see any gangs or drugs or anything. It was just fun, loud. Great in my book.
I got there right when they opened and they were kind of slow but quickly picked up. The service was good and the drive prices were decent
Asked for jack daniels singlet barrel and ginger beer got something else out of the bottle. Think they are refilling bottles of premium with cheap whiskey. Paid $17.+ for an undrinkable. BS drink, go someplace else
Upon arriving at the bar, the security guy was already really rude. After that he asked for an ID and I gave my new (dutch) driving license. The security guy looked at it for a while and then kept it, as he thought it was fake. He told me to come back at 2am to pick it up. When I came back at 2am no one was opening the door. In the end the security guy showed up again and told me that he gave the ID card to the police. I directly talked to the police officer in the street, he told me that the security guy didnt gave it to them. The officer said that he probably stole it and would keep it, but that he couldnt do anything about it.The day after I went back to this place and talked again to the same security guy. He started laughing and told me to go away. He said that he could steal whatever he wants. This security guy is a horrible man and I heard stories from others that its happening a lot (even the police officer said it).I should not recommend to this club/bar to anyone, those guys are criminals and inside it is way too expensive. Go to other fun places and never visit the whiskey girl, unless you want to get robbed!!
I didnt Eat any of the food maybe next time, but the service was great.
Horrible service. It was like we were invisible to the staff. Drinks did not have enough alcohol Food was not good, Waitress would forget about us and not bring the things we asked for.
Great service from Charlotte. Turned on the husker football game for me. Plenty of tvs for watching all types of sports. Bbq burger and the kraken mule where a great pair. Highly recommend
Worst customer services and wait till to get drinks and food was over an hour!!! Never acknowledged their wait or tried to let us know what that it was running late! It wasn’t even busy and this was a part of four. I don’t recommend for food.
Nice bar with pretty good food expectations for food were not high since its a bar but the fish tacos I ate were really delicious and had a lot of fish in them would definitely go back also has TVs with Sports/UFC + music and the Waitress who attended me gave really good service 😀
I had a great experience. Staff was friendly, everything was clean, plenty of security. I went on a Wednesday night and it was pretty packed, then again on Thursday afternoon and it was less so.
We went there for an early dinner and enjoyed the food and happy hour drinks. Live music was really good, kids loved the deep fried ice cream.
Absolute shite!A great place to get robbed, get caught up in a gang fight, or have the bouncers (who are all obviously shooting a few too many milligrams of testosterone) hassle you, then have at!If you prefer having fun, and not going to an indoor trash heap, then try Jimmy Loves!
Drinks ans food decent but on a Tues at 130 took 20 min to get drink and another 30 to get food dont come if in any kind of hurry
I love live music and who wouldnt?? Great live music, great service, food was plentiful and prices were affordable. Right in walking distance of Westin in the Gaslamp district.
They invited me and some friends in also. After about a hour they threw us out because friend had a hat on.I said you let him in that way. They said everybody out. They didnt let us finish our round of drinks. So i had to check the bouncers n manager and they paid me for my drinks with everybodys tip noney.Loser of a manager.
LOVE the nachos. 🤤🤤🤤 Dont remember what cocktail I had. There werent too many choices but it was good. Polite staff.
Food was ok. Fast service. Not a fan of corn tortillas, I prefer flour but I shoulda specified that when ordering. Live music after 7p and a DJ
We happened to hit this on a not busy night but the live music of #artist4mankind was killer. What a voice! And he took both of my requests immediately. Thank you for rocking it.
If you love karaoke with a big crowd, this is definitely the place to go. The energy here is off the room with the karaoke!!!! Drink prices are just ok...
Whiskey GIrl is a locals favorite nightclub in the heart of Gaslamp, San Diego. Always a great crowd with friendly staff, the new location and renovated space gives a pretty cool vibe for a night out.(Take a tour of the club using the See Inside box below the map... pretty cool.)
Weakest yet most expensive Irish Trash Can Ive ever had. After that I had 3 well whiskeys on an empty stomach and didnt even get a buzz. This is, without a doubt, a tourist trap.
Had a really good bean burger and the garlic fries were good. Lively atmosphere. Great for people watching. Fun place.
Cant say Ive been as treated poorly anywhere else as I was here. From staff to management, all around shady and unprofessional in all respects. Stay away.
The redheaded bouncer was eyeing me and my friend all night and made us feel very uncomfortable, place seemed okay enough, but in gas lamp; theres better places to go to.
Fantastic bar, the perfect place to just relax while listening to live music with a drink in your hand. The Jack Daniels burger is amazing too.
WHISKEY GIRL?????????As A former employee of the DREADED whiskey girl dump I can honestly tell you that WHISKEY GIRL IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE FRIENDLY We are told that if you APPEAR the slightest bit intoxicated we are told to bounce you with extreme prejudice. Dont do it to yourself GO SOMEWHERE ELSE If you wanna have a good time. Essentially none of so-called managers knows how to run manage/run a club. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THEY DONT GIVE A SHIIT ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS THEY JUST WANNA MAKE MONEY. DRINKS ARE WATERED DOWN AND THEY OFTEN SUBSTITUTE PREMIUM LIQUORS FOR REGULAR HOUSE CRAP. You might order Patron and get Sauza or order Hennessy and get E&J. They cut a lot of corners like that. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
Great burgers ,good service very secure open entertainment was great jason sax player excellent singer should be longer than9pm on fridays
Food is not all that and there was a long hair in my food. No one apologized for it. Just took plate and brought another one. Then charged me for it! Horrible customer service.
Stopped in for a quick afternoon beer. Friendly bartender even gave me a taste of a tequila neither of us had seen before. Will definitely be back!
Great place and on top of that our hostess by the name of Debra had awesome service! Will definitely be coming back when she is working!!!!
Bar was nearly dead and service was very slow. Staff seemed more interested in talking to each other then serving customers.
I like this place. It is fun and has a great vibe. It is not stuck up like the other downtown spots. It is however often crowded and a little stinky.
Profiled me as a “gang member” because of my treble clef tattoo and “possibe area code tattoo” on other side of neck which I have no tattoo. Racial profiled felt very unsafe. They laughed as I left with my “Gang” money.
Only been here for night life. Good club and fast bartenders
Bad service dirty silverware manager stood around bulls****** the whole time. Better places to go to spend money in downtown. Food was okay.
Fun place
Good came out fast.
A security guard here grabbed and dragged my totally subdued friend out by his throat. Literally, full hand around the throat. Theres video footage.
Delicious hamburgers. I love the windows opened up with beautiful weather.
Busy place. Great service.
I had a cheeseburger. Was fantastic. Service is top notch.
The drinks are lame and over priced. The bouncers are frustrated douchebags. This place caters to the tourists and does not represent what San Diego is all about.
The food was alright, the service was subpar. However, several of our group got terrible food poisoning from this restaurant. Never going back again.
Waited a long time for a burnt Burger (asked for medium rare) and cold fries ... They shouldnt have been served. Why would you eat here???
Monday night bartender was rude and security comes over to stare you down so that you leave 15 minutes before closing. Overall not a pleasant experience.
Loved the bar and bar tenders, purchased some apparel and nothing fit. Manager refused to give refund
Was there the weekend of Halloween was packed but music was jumping n the drinks where not to pricey.
Service ok, beer good, fries good, burger horrible. Tasted like they cooked it in charged food. Yuck
Throw out patronage because they dont spend enough at their bar. The slightest instance of fancy will have them remove you within 10 minutes.
French onion soup is one of the best I have had. Lots of onion, good cheese and just the right combination of herbs
