The Palm Room

If I could give this one employee -10 I would. We came in from the beach for a drink and decided to use the restroom first. When my friend came out the bathroom this employee immediately yelled at him to leave if he wasn’t buying a drink. I understand that he can’t have people coming in and just using the bathroom and leaving, but all he needed to do was ask nicely if we were drinking or not. My friend would’ve told him yes we were and everything would’ve been fine. Hospitality here is horrible unless you are a straight white man. Do not recommend!!!!

I hate to be a Debbie downer but I feel its needed. For those who dont wish to read, just known bartenders are rude and condescending.Ive gone to palm room a few times, it had always been an average experience but overall being close to the beach made it a good spot. Tonight I went in, expecting to get some drinks and enjoy the on sight amenities. I was wrong, my id was taken and I expected a Quick Look and move on, however the bartender spent a good few moments just rubbing my ID, now I have a learners permit as my form of ID. My ID expired and the DMV is sending me a new copy, so I carry my valid learners permit around. This ID has been used for federal buildings, for other similar areas and has flagged no issues. The bartender did not try to ask me for info on the ID, or to turn it a bit to see the reflective coating, or to shine it to a light to see the NC shaped marker. He simple rubbed his finger on it for a long time and returned it with a rude this is fake dear . I have never had issue with that ID, it is a DMV issued ID. I honestly do not think Id have left this review if the bartender had just been polite, but his nasty attitude and overall lack of attempt to verify the ID in the multitude of ways have made me feel this review Is a must. Do not go here if youre not willing to walk to other spots as theyll likely deny you for some made up reason!

We had our wedding welcome party at The Palm Room and it was AWESOME! The owners, Kat and Kurt, were great to work with and the bar service was incredible (2 bartenders and a barback for ~150 people!). It was an unforgettable night and truly a way to welcome people to the island!

Just what ya want from a local beach bar that puts up with us summer tourist with a smile and drink. Awesome location

Went to the Palm room last night to see Honeysickle and Entangled dreams playing. Had the best time ever! The staff were very helpful and the vibe is cool. Loving the fish on the bathroom wall too! Will be going back!

Fun dive bar right at the beach. They have affordable drinks and some fun games like pool, skee ball, live music and dancing.

NOT A FRIENDLY Establishment Very unwelcoming to people of the LGBT community and if you would like to be assaulted And have no one help you this is a the best place to go

Sweet, lil chill beach bar. Vibe is great, beers cold, staff friendly. 10 mins from Wilmington, 1 min walk to the pier, Ill be back.

In expensive drinks, pretty chill but I was there around 8pm. They have bands on the weekends . There was a doggo in the bar 😁 and they have some bar games

Totally a fun time with awesome bands. Can get a little rowdy, but the location right off the pier is fantastic and the atmosphere is laid back. Recommended if you’ve got a few folks and like live music.

Disrespectful to customers for no reason. I was buying customers drinks and they kicked me out of the venue. Pictures show the bouncers flicking me off and I will never bring my business there again or recommend anyone to go. Also paid for drinks that I never received. Management should really rethink who they hire.

I have seen a lot of great bands here. Little dive bar has been open since 1968. A local favorite.

If I could give this bar a zero - I would. I grew up in this area. Little did I know that trying to pay my tab and leave would result in the OWNER telling me that he was throwing my credit card in the street. I wanted to tip my bar tender - but that has turned i to me never returning to this bar - and me telling you to never go. Why any one would want tn go here is beyond my comprehension. There are other great bars to go to that want your patronage. This bar should rot. It is not worthy of their former name.

Great atmosphere to have some drinks with friends. Tuesday night are usually when we go. Bartenders are awesome and you never wait long for drinks. Added bonus is that its right by the beach so a little late night stroll is always an option. Definitely a 5 star bar with a great DJ

Great experience, great vibes. Heather was our bartender and she had awesome energy. My friend and I stopped here after leaving the beach. I’m glad we did everyone in the bar was super friendly and they have tons of games to play from skeeball, giant connect four, pool, ping pong. We will definitely be back when we visit wrightsville again.

Live music great crowd. Had to wait a bit for drinks but they were so busy what would you expect.

The Palm Room is a bar, not a live music venue.Went there during the holidays to see a local band and my friend and I were given a $10 charge at the door. To see a local band at a venue, thats totally justified. But this place is way too much of a shoebox to be charging people for entry. Not only that, but, no advertisements disclosed that there would be a charge at the door. Cover charges at the rest of the beach bars (that are also bigger than palm Room!!!) average around $5, and charge less for gals/locals. It just seemed like the Palm Room was trying to make a quick buck off locals for seeing a pretty good local band. Pretty shady. If youre a band looking to actually throw a concert, do your fans better and dont book it here.

I love this little bar. Drinks are priced fairly. This is a no thrills bar. Associates are professional and fun. It’s mainly a locals bar, but during peak season, tourists outnumber the locals. Kelly is my favorite barkeep!

Great food there was three if us

Great location totally unassuming. Beer was inexpensive and a good selection of draft. Plus, they carry draft Red Oak! Parter really appreciated the bartenders dogs that greeted us as we walked in!

Sad to see a bar so close to the beach serving drinks in Styrofoam cups, plastic cups, and using plastic straws. Please consider compostable alternatives. The bartender was less than friendly as well.Environment is nice. New ping pong table! Dog friendly.

I don’t write reviews but If I could give it 0 stars I would. Let me just say this, I have NEVER in my life been so disrespected by anyone the way the DJ working there did. All I did was request an artist and he literally put his whole hand covering my face and shoved me away so hard because I requested a Spanish artist. He should not be working there at all And definitely should not get away with it. I cried on the way home Because 1. My face literally hurt because of how much force he used. And 2. The fact that I could literally do Nothing about it. Next time rethink on who you’re hiring to work for you before they get charged for assault.Ps. Before you judge and say I was Drunk or anything I was perfectly fine. I had one drink and was drinking water the entire rest of my night.

Inexpensive drinks, chill atmosphere. Dogs are welcome. Parking was a little challenging during the day because its next to public beach access. Will definitely return

This place has more of a mixed age group than a lot of the bars in wrightsville. Its nice to have a place to go where I dont feel like Im way too old to be there, but still pulls in good live music, and has bar games if youre in the mood.

Fun atmosphere with connect 4, Jenga, pool, and many other games. Cold beer with a great selection on tap as well as mixed drinks. My favorite part was Leia the boxer who came up and loved our attention!

Bar seemed slow and understaffed. No one floated around to clean up the trash everywhere, or to make sure people were safe. The bands performing weren’t visible because there wasn’t an elevated stage.

Great bar, had men make my friend feel uncomfortable and the owners were great about helping out in the situation.

Service was terrible. Owner/bartender was dismissive and decided who he was going to take care of. Its unfortunate when youre one of the only shows in town that you think that you can get away with such service. Would not suggest this establishment. I would recommend Jerry Allens or Jimmys.

Great place to catch great bands play with good brews by the beach!!

This was the perfect place to stop while on family vacation. I needed a break from the sun and had such a good time hanging out in here. There is plenty of seating and skeeball! The air conditioning was a plus too :)

Went during the day and loved it. Can’t beat the prices, avoids the bigger crowds, and the staff was really nice.

Overpriced for medicore menu. Had a couple shrimp tacos with tons of garnish & perhaps a shrimp in each.My husband had the oyster platter with a handful of oysters mixed with what tasted like frozen tater tots.

Me & my cohort tried to ruin this bars vibe but the crowd and bartender were too nice. Drank app night with friends, was the bomb

Pool, ping pong(!), skeeball(?!), close to the beach, live music, and legitimately cheap drinks. What more could you ask for?(shuffleboard, but I totally realize that is asking for a bit much)
