We had so much fun! The mixed beverages at the front bar were not the best, but having access to high noon and rebull was redemption! We loved the music, the sound system was good quality, the staff were attentive, Ive never been in a club that kept the floor SO CLEAN!! fantastic, will definitely be back!
Easy entry. No line. $4 for coat check. Restrooms were very clean with an attendant. Bartenders super quick and efficient. Drinks are at least 30% cheaper then any other night club around especially soundbar that is across the street. Not too spacious but it never got overly crowded. Nice thing is they have seating outside of the vip area that is for everyone so you could rest your feet or back at anytime. They also have a merchandise booth. And security does their job at keeping everyone safe. One complaint would be the sound system. The bass was not adjusted so it was not really pleasant. Thankfully they fixed it a bit but it was still problematic.
Came here to see Franky Rizardo as he was accidentally in town and so was I. Great venue with great staff. The diet cokes came quick. For a person who is there to enjoy solid house music and does not drink alcohol, this was a proper venue. The guest was what a house crowd should be - friendly and welcoming. If/when I come back to Chicago - I will definitely revisit Spybar - a historical venue and a great place to party!
Oh man, let me tell you about my unforgettable experience on January 1st, 2023! It was hands down the best night of my life! I stepped into the venue and was immediately swept away by the infectious beats of House music. I danced the night away, completely lost in the rhythm, and before I knew it, I was invited to an after-party because of the energy I was radiating! As I grooved on the dance floor, I connected with strangers who became instant friends. We swapped hats and sunglasses, mirroring each others dance moves in a spontaneous display of camaraderie. Coming all the way from LA to Chicago, I never expected to have such an incredible dance experience. What amazed me the most was the genuine enthusiasm of the people there; everyone was there to dance and have a blast! And heres a fun tidbit: did you know that the owner of the bar was actually part of the House scene and even featured in the documentary, I Was There When House Took Over the World? How cool is that? So, as someone who experienced the magic firsthand, I wholeheartedly recommend this bar to anyone looking for a night filled with music, energy, and unforgettable memories!
Great little club, with a decent soundsystem. Not much in the way of lights or video screens, but the CO2 cannons made up for that. :-)Young crowd, and chill music made for a fun night. The VIP hostess in the g-string was a bit unnecessary.Would definitely go back, as security was firm but friendly. Im pretty sure they do a good job keeping everyone safe.
I wrote to management about an over charge on my credit card haven’t heard anything back yet. You definitely have to watch out for the bartenders they be adding extra charges without you even knowing. Disappointing, with great music but this is definitely a bad look.
So heres the situation. My boi had too much to drink and were outside of Spybar at 3 am. People are walking by asking if hes ok. Ive got Pedialyte and water there for him (courtesy of Walgreens) but hes kind of made a mess of himself earlier. I need napkins/paper towels. I got into Spybar earlier because someone else had a free ticket, so Im digitally ticketless. Some couple is complaining to the bouncers about an issue they had, and Im queued up behind them. I only want to go in because I need disposable paper for my boi experiencing hell first hand on the corner curb. Maybe this couple has valid complaints, but Im in need of assistance for my drunk brother. The bouncers let me in again to grab some paper towels, and Im out again in < 1 min. The moral is, those guys had empathy and helped me out when I really needed it. Maybe the other couple had legit complaints, but they were having trouble creating a coherent argument for whatever it was. Its 3:30 am RN and Im grateful to Spybar for the empathy they showed, and thats really what this review is about. Drink water yall, and know theres a Walgreens 2 blocks east of you need anything at all
Great club, as a Smartbar regular, this would make a great backup in case the DJ sucked there, though some more garbage cans would be nice, Im used to seeing a good (somewhat) lit locations there, here, I just found one, and it got me confused and worried a bit. Everything was great overall but not quite perfect. Some things I do like VS Smartbar aside from the inclusion of Knob Creek Bourbon (my favorite alcohol when mixed with diet coke) is a full serviced restroom, as well as great audio quality throughout the club, whoever said that this club was too loud clearly doesnt know Chicago house lmao. I do love the 20% gratuity tip automatically added to my checks. It makes it easier to mathematically calculate the bartenders performance. The music was outstanding this night as Im reviewing now. My heart was unlocked with the constant stream of sexy drums being aired out of the speakers, standing in front of the loudest part of the club outside of directly listening through the speakers, my body felt numb from the DJs performance throughout the morning, all in all, a fantastic experience with a few quirks, but otherwise excellent.
Nick is horrible. Not much more to say, the waitress and security were both very nice in terms of service, but Nick needs to go back to school and learn what service means
Mike, Rowan, and Noelle are the best. They made me feel at home and made sure I got home okay. 10/10 review!
I’ve been pretty much to all EDM places in Chicago and Spybar will always be my fav. The sound system is the best so far. It is so good your entire body bounces and you can listen the music 2 blocks away 😂I love the fact they give opportunity to local artists but they also bring international artists. Both are amazing. It neverrr disappoints. I’m from Latinoamerica and struggle finding places that close late and this goes until 4/5 am.I’ve been solo and had the best time. Compared to other clubs, people are so nice and inviting. They dance with you and the djs vibe with you.
Visited this place while in town for a weekend getaway. Music was five stars. Location was five stars. Not overly crowded. Dj did a great job of mixing up tunes. Only negative thing i would say is, drinks were over priced and were deluded IMOP. For $16-18, give me some good stuff. Other than that, it was a great location. Cover was $20 for men, ladies free.
Generally rude staff. Particularly if you’re getting a table, I wouldn’t recommend - there are definitely better clubs in the city.
Great venue and great djs! Had a great experience with this personable club! Dj was nice and so was the drinks
Sweet little underground venue, lines were nonexistent when I arrived at 11:30 or so. This was the only club I went to the two nights I was in Chicago, and I was not disappointed. Bouncers expedited the entry process without any issue. Bartender was nice, recognized me and greeted me on my second night there. Water is $5 per bottle, but I do recall seeing someone get his empty glass filled with tap water and ice free of charge. They also have the comfiest sofa to chill at which does not require booking a table and yet still has a great view of the dance floor / DJ booth. Additionally, worth noting is a nice old man who attends the bathroom sink and squirts soap in your hands, who then provides you with a paper towel. Finally, ventilation and cooling are adequate; there are several spots on the dance floor where conditioned air blows down from above, but if you need, there’s also a fan in the back with a lot more space to chill. However, of note is their no-reentry policy, regardless, there is a cordoned off outdoor zone immediately outside the venue in which you can chill and reenter from I think.
It was cool , saw someone fall down stairs , had my expensive drink knocked out of my hand by a sloppy drunk chick dancing to bad house music , got kicked out , fun times all around. 2.5 stars
I’ve had one too many Red Bull vodka’s here.
Decided to come here for the first time as tourists after hearing good reviews on a good house music bar to go to. We came at around 11pm on a Friday and were surprised with the high cover charge to come in. We were there for 1 hour and a half and it was not lively, empty, music was not great and it was not getting any better so we left.
I recently attended the NTO event at Spybar and as someone on the spectrum that loves techno it was a really nice event to attend. Nobody made me feel weird for sitting around for awhile until some of my favorites came on. It was nice to attend a event alone and the crowd there felt very comfortable and inclusive. It was a great space to dance in and move around in. The security was also really nice at check in and just in general around the event noticing them interact with people. The staff was really warming too and friendly. Personally I loved the vibe but I know its not like anything seen online or overseas. Ive seen a few different styles but so far this club was most user friendly Ive been to. Personally think its fantastic for Chicagos crowd and first time clubbers. Highly recommend finding out if a favorite artist you love is playing there.
Love this venue, when the artist is good it’s the one of the best places to be. Great vibe, great setup. BUT these guys have one of the WORST sound systems in the city, not only that the volume is low so you can’t hear it unless you push up, the quality is that of a loud JBL speaker. Get funktion ones and become the best venue the city, come on guys?
Its a nice small/intimate club. I prefer this to the warehouse type of clubs with huge rooms (like a certain nightclub across the street). It reminded me more of a European club. The DJ I saw played good house.....The bar had limited selection though, so dont expect craft cocktails.
Awesome venue. Saw Dennis Ferrer there. Would definitely return.
This is a great little underground club. Always bringing in some of the best DJ’s. The service is always quick and easy.
Friendly staff, affordable prices in comparison to many other River North bars, and upgrades to the bathrooms, lighting and sound, along with its late closing times make this the perfect spot to end-up on weekends. Its all about the music! House, techno and their offshoots are the main genres of music with a nice balance of superstar DJs and up-and-comers youll see gracing bigger stages in the future.Pre-sale tickets are always more affordable than door prices, but they sometimes sell out quickly due to its intimate size.Security isnt overt, but responds quickly to complaints of drunk pests ruining the vibe.
Favorite club in Chicago. No frills - the tables offered are off to the side and not the focus of the club. Bookings have their finger on the heartbeat of up-and-coming artists. The majority of the artists play house and techno. There is a small amount of seating at the back of the venue available first-come-first serve which becomes available on and off throughout the night since most of the clientele actually dances. Low lit basement vibes but still a great A/V production infrastructure in place. Price points for tickets and drinks are some of the best in River North.
The best nightclub in Chicago from an electronic music fans perspective. Good music and fun fan experience. The focus here is NOT on bottle service, but rather on a spacious room hosting both headlining DJs and talented locals. The only other Chicago club that comes close to Spybar is Smartbar.
This bar is just completely cringe. We went here willing to spend $ and have a good time but its like everyone showed up with a mandate to pretend they were in one of the douchiest music videos ever made. Major comedown vibes and bad drinks. Avoid.
$30 cover for what? A poor sound system and meh vibes. I feel like the cover only exist to keep people from leaving this low tier club. First time and last time. I wish I could leave anything positive
Legendary Chicago club! This basement has an awesome atmosphere and vibe. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. Their staff always seems happy to help. The music is always amazing too!
Dead spots of limited sound in the room, sound only coming from the front, just bass traveling to the back of the room. Makes it hard to enjoy the music. Security and service was otherwise good.
Most iconic night club in Chicago! If you are looking for some nice clean fun, this is the place for you.
The venue is fun and what you might expect, I had a great time dancing to Lee Foss. The lower rating comes from a bizarre/annoying experience with a bartender. For the evening, she was so nice and friendly. At the end of our night, my friend and I asked if she could combine our bills, since we both didnt meet the minimum, which she happily agreed to do. When she provided the check binder, I signed the receipts but both of our cards were not in there. Now, I can swear up and down that they werent in there, and perhaps the bartender can swear up and down that she did put them in there. Its something we honestly might never know what happened... but what was most upsetting was her response. It was like a switch went off and she was completely cold, dismissive and indifferent. I stood there for a good 10 minutes before she would even glance at my direction and when I finally got her attention, I asked her about the cards, which got very short I put them in there before turning away. We again waited to get her attention and tried explaining to her that the cards were not in there and if she wasnt ignoring us, her responses were short check the floor. check your pockets. I put them in there. No type of care or offering to check behind the bar. She didnt once check her bar station where she had put the receipts in the check binder. It was clear that my friend and I were getting distressed, standing there for over 25 minutes, checking everywhere on the floor and our wallets (even though we know when didnt put them in) and she honestly could not care less. We were polite to her, not accusing or yelling, and she really was so indifferent and made 0 attempt to help us or look behind the bar or on the floor behind the bar. Ive tried to call the bar a few times since this, but of course can never get through to anyone. My guess is both of our cards showed up somewhere at the bar but of course well never know. Its pretty easy to cancel a credit card, but I just found the whole situation and her response annoying and extremely rude. Even if she truly believed she put the cards in there, she could have been nicer about it. Very odd considering how nice she was all night. My suggestion is for the venue to train their staff on common courtesy, especially the bartender with blue hair.
This is where disgusting 30-40 year old Korean grown men come to prey on young women and have burritos across the street
My friend and I were leaving here last night around 2 am. We’ve had our fair share of drinks and were being loud and obnoxious as drunk people do at 2 am. We were messing w a traffic cone and a whole group of security guards charged my friend and full blown smacked his chest to the point of knocking him back. We apologized and said we were waiting for our Uber but it only escalated from there. I got upset at the fact the bouncer decided smacking a drunk person in the chest was the best option and definitely raised my voice telling him he should never put his hands on someone. They were trying to tell us we cannot stand on the public sidewalk, they allowed other patrons to get in our faces and threaten us as well as some random trying to push my face. In the end they used VIOLENCE, THREATS and demeaning language towards a couple of drunk people messing with a traffic cone. DO NOT RECOMMEND UNLESS UR LOOKING TO FIGHT:)
Wasnt a bad spot to quick visit in Chicago for some house type music. Met a local and had a very pleasant interaction over similar views. Wasnt over crowded. And bouncers were chill. Would potentially go again if I was in town
Hands down best music and crowd in the city. Atmosphere here is what Cielo (NYC before they closed. ) had . This is place for dancing (not romancing). 6 stars.
Nice music, but feels more like a social club…everybody is talking. Your money might be bette r invest into a plane ticket to Berlin and go to a real club. Also what REAL techno club has a VIP area???
Played the same music the entire night and same beat, BORING! This place has changed so much in the last 5 years. Went on a Saturday night and entry was $30, male populated club and few females. Not sure if this is a gay club? Great bartender service, but over priced drinks not worth it.
Spybar is my go to spot for house and techno music. Best staff and security in the city. Always have a great time no matter who’s playing that night. You can tell everyone who works there genuinely loves spybar and the tech house scene. 🖤
Great scene and vibe. What really knocked it out was the employee Paul (I think his name is) who was very considerate and extremely attentive. He didnt have any reason to, but he kept checking on us and making sure everyone was having a great time. I dont usually write reviews, but I had to because of how great he was.
Very terrible service and rules.. like min. 20 for credit card, and 4 $ coat check - cash only. You wanna go to a bar and be worry-free/enjoying and not be thinking (aka its not about the money, its about the rules and being forced to think when youre supposed to let go and enjoy !)
Good for deep house, tech house and techno, usually pulls in a strong rotation of national and international DJs and producers every weekend. Midsized, lounge atmosphere. Crowd is usually dressier on Fridays and Saturdays, although they dont have a strict dress code which is nice. Can usually get free or discounted cover with RSVP. Otherwise usually $20 to get in after midnight. Drinks on the pricier side.
The front door was trash over pricing people. The girl in the front thought we gave a shyt about her dumb announcement and we don’t. Music cool, security inside was cool.
Bad experience, the bouncers make you stand outside forever in the cold. Waited over 1hour, still didn’t get in, we just left .....i didn’t even wait that long for DJ tiesto party in Vegas, I think that the bouncer are only holding up the line just to make it seem like it was a busy night club, when clearly it wasn’t even packed inside..... had a better experience at The Y bar night club with better bouncers and people
Smaller club space that sets apart from other River North clubs. After walking down a flight of stairs you enter to find a truly underground experience. Fantastic minimalist house music. They consistently bring in great DJs. Its never too crowded. You always get a drink quickly. Staff is very friendly.
This is one of my favorite spots in the city to come and just get LIT. The drinks are poured very well, so I dont mind paying what they ask. The artists are top notch and they always pay respect to some good house names, like should. I suggest buying tickets ahead of time or Rsvp to skip the Nazi line security. Also a plus is no dress code.
Friday Night rocks !!!Friday Night? This event was great! I love this space! Very cool! Great place to dance and have fun!The club itself was very trendy with a modern style and great lounge spots. The bar tenders were great and had quick drink turnover- I never waited for a drink longer than 30 seconds.DJ Nique was here this night and he did not disappoint!!! The service and staff here were awesome! So whats the bottom line: Spy-bar is good for people like me, who do the deep-underground club scene. 5 stars for everything and minus for nothing, so total 5 stars.
On Saturday nights $20 cover charge each person. There is always a line, and not because is full inside but because they want to attract people and have competition with sound bar, (which is right across the street). Drinks are priced high and the music is almost wack. They change the genre too quickly with not enough time to enjoy. Very much for college undergrads and a waste of money.
Always a great atmosphere with some of the very best underground electronic DJs coming through here. Though it can get a little crowded, the crowd is the for the music, and you dont have to worry about VIP nonsense ruining your evening.Keep an eye out for some of the big names they bring on Thursday nights too... sometimes you can catch a truly epic DJ minus the wall-to-wall crowd.
Was visiting from Texas and hoped to find a place with some decent house or techno music. The reviews led me to believe the music would be good here, but it really seemed the DJ was just playing something only slightly less bad than David Guetta style music or a bunch of awful house/techno remixes of Top 40 music that was already awful enough to begin with. Sound system was underwhelming too. It was also a Wednesday, so maybe it doesnt suck so bad on other nights. I dont know, Ill probably never bother figuring that out.
A run down place. Music Descent, dance floor was ok. You need to drink a lot to enjoy the place, for a Wednesday in Chicago it presented the most lively and fun place. Great to see so many local people.
Good place to dance. Has a coat check but the line retrieving it was crazy. Bathroom insanely well stocked but lacks hot water. Overall, pretty fun
Terrible music the night i went. Not even tony montana hyped up on coke could dance to it. The crowd started to cheer when something decent came on (pulsating beats at this point) and the dj subsequently turned that off. Needed water and they demanded selling me a $10 bottle.
Good music with a great ambience and atmosphere . The drinks were good too at a decent price. This a fun place for dancing and enjoying a night out with friends. Bathroom could use a better place
Charged a $20 cover charge and $11.50 for a vodka soda that was mostly soda. Played the same generic beat and it wasn’t even a good one. I’m not even sure why they would need a dj. Otherwise, it was filled with creepy dudes and I’m pretty sure everyone was high.
I dont normally write reviews but I have to write about this one. This is one of the worst clubs in chicago. Not that the service is bad but its so BORING! They play the same song over and over again all night long. Crowd is fairly boring as well. This was my second time going almost a year later and its just as boring. Really hope I dont ever have to go back.
This is the worst night Ive ever been to in my life
Incredible venue with even better sound. Keeps the production minimal but books some world class talent.
If you like non-vocal house music, Spy Bar or Primary are the two places to go. Its a cool place with good DJs, a non-pretentious crowd and usually no lines (although theres plenty of people there). I believe cover was $20 for guys & girls at prime-time and $10 at 3ish. There are plenty of other clubs in the neighborhood if you want a change of scenery. The entrance is down an alley and the club itself is in the basement of the building. Theres valet on the corner for $12 and across the street at Sound-Bar. Theres a parking lot behind the building too for $15.
One of the best clubs Ive ever been to, from sound system to staff, great place
We stood outside in the pouring rain for more than half an hour and they are severely overcharging. 30 dollars for cover?? Insane
Bad service at the door. The last Friday 08/31 by 9:50pm I was approaching the security and stuffs standing in front of the main door to get some information when I was surprisingly treated very rude by a bald white security with tatoo on your arms. He was very rude and even could not ask a information and he said : what are you doing?? Go to the line right now I was not sure if I would get in so did not take the line. I wanted to get some information before but after that, I gave up. The bar was close at that time yet.Dont go there!!! Its terrible!!!
Me and my friends are there at least once a weekIf you are into house music theres no other place to come and party in Chicago. The staff is great and the sound is amazing.Good times all around
Hate the place its a real dungen . Drinks are high they same staff at detention and primary..Not to mention every one getting coked out especially the bouncers and selling it to. Especially the one with dreadlocks.Hate it either u are a coke head or you out of there. Music and place sucks.
So, I arrived at the skybar about 9:50 pm on Saturday may 5th , decided to sit in an open area with my wife because we wanted to see Dennis ferrer, we had drinks and it was all good up until about midnite. We had already ordered 2 rounds of drinks well over 50$. Suddenly employees of the club insisted we were now in a private VIP seating area. Because they wanted to make seating for i guess a higher paying clientele of custonef, they suggested that we now move to an open area on the other side of the club. I refused of course stating that we had been sitting there all along. They sent someone over , we debated our position and it was agreed upon that we were as allowed to remain in the same seating area.We continued our evening at this point dancing and consuming our drinks .About 45 min later I was approached by the same employee, at which time he stated the additional area in which we were now sitting, had at this point been reserved another outside group.Again I refused to give up my seating area stating we had been exposed to being removed to another, I kinda felt like Rosa Parks. At this point we were approached by another manger (Steve) , he stated it was the clubs policy that we should agree to moving a second time to accommodate his VIP customers . I of course disagreed with his position , at which time he stated that I was disrespecting him because I wouldnt agree to move to another area , whereby he could accommodate his VIP customers. Being an African American born in this country this had not been outlined or explained to i was pissed off of course .Before a confrontation insued my wife agreed to move to another area. The other staff members we cordial, offered free drinks and also complained about (Steve) the white guy. The bottom line is that I have enjoyed listening to the music made by Dennis Ferrer, and never ended up listening to his music and left before his performance began .If you are minority , never visit this establishment until they confront the racist natures of some select employees, who have more than a willingness to discriminate against African American patrons . This racist bastard Steve should never allowed to communicate with customers of any establishment.Just like the Starbucks .most recent issue , Do Not visit the SkyBar unless you are willing to suffer the humiliation and 3rd class treatment to African Americans that Steve delivered .I will be sure nor to let this story die on the Vine . black Americans possess financial strength as do many other minority groups , this should serve as tour warning for just cause .Stay away from This place , do not spend your money here for house music out , this was a real eye opening event
Ordered a rum and coke and paid $10 for mostly coke so I didnt leave a tip. Tried to order a beer afterwards and the bartender asked if I would tip this time. Ridiculous. If you are going there for a show, dont bother showing up until 4 hours after the posted time. Payed way too much for poor service and spent all night waiting for the main act.
Cool vibes in this place and great to be exposed to established and upcoming house DJs. Although keep in mind the bar doesn’t provide water from the tap. You will need to purchase it for $5, this was a huge disappointment.
You will not get in this place at a reasonable time unless you know the bouncer. My fiancé, her brother, and I sat at the front of the line for an hour and watched the bouncer only let people in who knew him or gave him extra money to get in. We walked up at 12:00 and it’s 1:30 and we still not in..
Won free bottle service. They put us at a standing table, which was fair, given that we didnt reserve. However, service was only attentive in the beginning; started getting spotty near the end of the night. Also, the place was flooding with brosters by 1am. Music was ok.
This venue is awesome. Its very intimate and feels like youre hanging out in someones decked out basement. The djs they bring in are phenomenal. My favorite place to dance!
Here now, asked if they played good house music. Currently playing regueton. Edit* the dj before the last, played incredibly great house music.
Overall okay place.- The drinks are overpriced and cocktails lack alcohol.+ Crowd is usually pleasant. Lots of cool performers visit this place, so pay attention to their site.
Idk what who those cars in the picture are supposed to belong to but if YOU are looking for a moist, dingy smelling basement to spend your free time in this is the plce for you! They play the best song over and over again really its just the same song (or atleast it feels that way!) anyway for just a small fee of $20-$30 per person you can have the lamest night of your life
Expensive & mediocre drinks, adequate atmosphere, and (bafflingly) no tap water--yes, if you need water youre forced to buy bottled water. If theres not a specific DJ or set you want to see here, theres no point in coming. Avoid if possible.
Good music with a great ambience. The drinks were good too at a decent price. This a fun place for dancing and enjoying a night out with friends.
This was definitely not for me. The drinks were overpriced and could not get a single drink as the cc minimum is 20!! If you like techno with no lyrics then you might enjoy this.
My companion said that I could get in because the bar would recognize my face. We went to the door, and there was a place to look in and we got in the bar. We went upstairs and it was dark and we sat at the bar. He ordered drinks for us and we drank a little and then we left. I expected to stay a little longer.
Went on a Wednesday and the following Thursday Wednesday was really decent house music but there were only around 15 people there. Thursday was more Latin music and got really busy around 1am.
They only let ugly girls who have lived in stockholm for ages get in. If you’re a Brazilian supermodel they won’t let you in. Boys you are missing out, go somewhere else
Amazing staff and venue with great artists that come through. One of the best clubs in Chicago hands down
Dont waste your money going to this club unless you are into dancing like a mollied out zombie like the rest of the crowd. They play the same song over and over while all the fried eggs sway to the beat.
This is the place where almost everyone is welcome. They bring in the best DJs (known and underground). They dont have that pretentious attitude that you get at other clubs.
Dark and dirty for techno. Went to see Will Clarke here. There are some sketchy people who linger so be careful. They were definitely out of place.
Was visiting Chicago from London.Heard about SpyBar from friends. Really enjoyed the venue and music.Unfortunately, I was robbed at the side of the dance floor by the bar. I was standing with a group of friends. 2 men, about 25, Hispanic I think, came up to me, smiling. One then walked behind me and I felt my wallet being removed from my back pocket. I turned round and the guy in front of me pulled my phone from my front pocket. Smiled again and disappeared. Happened really quickly. We left immediately. Of course, it ruined the night, and spoiled Chicago.
Guys I dont usually write reviews but I have to say this is the weakest, most over priced, most lame, bar/club I have ever been to I did not have fun at all! Now dont get me wrong if you like weird old people dancing like weirdos then thats the place for you but if not I am trying to help everyone not waste 20 dollars to go to this club
Didnt like the music. No seating areas. Super dark. Creepy guys would try to dance with you, without an invitation or any kind of acknowledgement.
Spybar has house and techno music. It is a wonderful spot to see your favorite djs and get down to good music. Not a place to go for clubbing. You wont find top forty here.
Nice looking Club but bad DJs and over priced drinks,i travel all over the World and visit many Clubs from all over the World but this SpyBar has to learn what good music means,DJs cant even mix 2 tracks together.I am not a DJ but for sure i can even play better then many DJs playing in that Club.Free to try :-) Which means i know what good music means.PLEASE CHANGE YOUR DJS WHO CANT MIX.
Rude incompetent bartender, wouldn’t serve me because I didn’t order at the same time as my friend, flaunted her fake years of experience like I care. Congrats to you, you made it, it was your destiny of being a bartender. Woooooooo
Great place to see big name DJs on the weekends. Basement party vibe. Limited street parking so take a cab. It can get crowded when big DJs are in town.
Never had a bad time. I’ve been going for years.
Everything was great until the bartender decided I shouldnt close my tab... After waiting fo 40 mins at the counter I had to ask a friend to come over and close it for me as I had become invisible to the guy.
There no re-entry policy is bogus. I did not pay a cover only to be told I can’t exit and come back in.
Bar staff were rude and the DJ played nothing but beat lines the whole night for $20 cover. Complete waste of time and money
I came on salsa night. Diverse crowd. A little loud for my taste but has a nice lounge feel
I was in Chicago for a business meeting so I decided to go to this place and it was great, loved the place, they play some really good music, atmosphere is great! A must go in Chicago!!
Love it! Fun lil spot great house music, staff is wonderful and regulars are friendly! Like a lil family...
Go-to Chicago house music club. Coolest place for some of the best DJs and both regulars and newcomers find this spot to be among their favorite
Neat place. The DJ was pretty good. Half the bar staff was great and the other half was rude.
Don’t waste your money the place is boring and expensive
Very racist stigmatized immediately at the door stating “it’s $40 to get in and this is not your type of party” would not recommend attending
Still a great bar after a decade of going there! Their specialty nights show great respect for the diversity of their patrons.
Staff was so nice and I loved the atmosphere. Will 100% be back!!
Trance music for 2 straight hours. Terrible set.
I think I will raise my children’s children’s children to come here. That’s how much I love this place. Yupp. That’s how much.
Really fun place to be. Always has good artists
Music good. Drinks whack. Cherry bomb without grenadine for $15? Whack.
Always a pleasureFrom the bartenders to the club ownerAmazing pplIf youre a true house headThat is the place to beGood times
Horrible venue.. couldve advertised that bob moses was playing a dj set and not a full band set... wasted my money..
Went clubbing here awhile back loved the music they had going.
Great place to come when they pull a headliner, other nights are usually Latin themed. Drinks are expensive.
One of only a couple of places in our city that captures the underground house music scene that Chicago made World Famous! A staple in Chicago nightlife.
One of the best clubs in the west loop. Great crowd and music.
Great little club. Brilliant atmosphere and they pull in fantastic DJs.
Uber guy pick lot of fare there! Well organised and security officers Done great job.
Its the worst club I have ever seen in chicago , plus theydont accept credit cards if u order is not $20 our up I didnt like this place at all
Please don’t call this house music, or even techno. Whitewashed. Expensive. They won’t even give you tap water.
The best place in town for Techno and Underground and still the number 5 club in the world
Great crowd and and great music. Bouncer was a little bit rude.
Great International bookings. Generally great staff. Crowd is not very diverse.
Kinda boring venue lots of space though. Drinks arent bad.
A smaller, more intimate spot with great house DJs
20 dollar cover charge for what to cover the labor you have here when no one wants to visit?? Come on get real!!!!
They dont play Different variety of music.
Pretty dead on weekends and average music.
Good house/techno spot. The staff does not tolerate boorish behavior. 👍
Only one in chi area with that kind of music, awesome place.
Always play the best house music! Good vibes everywhere!
Crowd is ok depending on who is playing. Typical downtown club.
Great local club for underground music fans.

If u r a real spy or a snitch(spy whos not aware that he/she is a spy) the KGB or CIA spy will take u to this club.

This is the go to spot for the best house music in the city!!
Rude Bartenders, tip included
Sweet small low key edm dance club.
Not my taste in music. Very dark and there is a cover.
Cash Only for entry. No credit cards. Learnt the hard way.
Hit or miss on the crowd. Great djs and service though.
My favorite basement of house music in Chicago.
Checked in a jacket and got it back with 2 buttons ripped off. I wont be going back.
Gum on the glass I was served....Overpriced and Over rated.
