We reached out to milk + honey privately to address this feedback, but did not get a response. So others dont deal with what we did, were posting it here.We unfortunately did not have a good experience at this location, from the actual massage itself to the amenities. We did discuss these issues with the receptionist prior to leaving but wanted to put them in writing as we do feel it was an unacceptable experience for the price.I had a deep tissue couples massage scheduled on 7/27. My massage therapist Margarita did not seem to listen to my concerns about areas I wanted targeted during the massage and did not apply firm pressure as she said she would. I came in with very sore and tense neck and shoulders, and I left the same way. She also seemed to rush the rest of the massage, not truly focusing on any areas and applying pressure which was needed. She also never asked me during the massage if the pressure was okay or checked in at any point. Overall I left feeling stressed. My fiancés therapist also did not listen to his problem areas and completely ignored them. He mentioned he would like his lower body focused on, especially his ankle and knees but they were barely touched. He also didnt receive much pressure and focus for it be a deep tissue massage, and he left still feeling sore and unrelaxed. The main issue with his therapist was he was constantly sniffling and yawning throughout the massage which was also heard by me. He would touch his nose and have to take constant breaks during the massage to wash his hands (which is of course needed but takes away from the experience). It definitely seems that he was sick, and shouldnt have come to work that day seeing as he wasnt wearing a mask and germs could have been spread. After the massage, we both went to use the steam shower. My fiancé could not get his to work as after turning it on it would immediately turn off, and my shower would not get warm despite being in there for over 5 minutes. The ceiling of my shower was gross, and my fiancé said the floor of his was also in bad condition (picture attached). We have been looking forward to this day for a while as we were celebrating our anniversary, but it was a huge disappointment and not worth the price at all. Weve had multiple couples massages for less than this price, but better service and amenities. For what is being charged, there needs to be major improvements in the staff and space. We do want it noted that the front desk receptionist was wonderful and genuinely cared about our concerns though, she did a great job from start to finish. They charge luxury prices, but absolutely fail to meet a luxury experience.
I’ve been coming here consistently for a year now seeing Katie for sports and deep tissue massages!! She is the best! I’m an athlete and NEED someone who can do a thorough massage and isn’t afraid to use pressure and less common techniques. Her skills and her personality/demeanor as a massage therapist are perfect. The steam showers and relaxing spa environment are a bonus. Rhonda who works at the front desk is so kind and professional.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience here ! We booked a couples massage while we’re here on vacation. Booking and confirming was easy. The facilities were lovely and relaxing, and both of us agreed the deep tissue massages we got were absolutely top notch. Definitely the best I’ve ever had. I would come here every month if I lived in Austin.
I received a gift card for a facial and a full body message here. I booked the appointment online, which was convenient as the website displayed the time and the therapists name. If this is your first time (like myself), you can choose your preference for a male or female therapist. At the end of the booking, there was detailed information on what to expect from appointment confirmation to parking instructions. ($7 vallet parking). I parked at the City Hall parking garage, which was right across the street from the spa, so it was only 2-3 minutes walk. The spa will send you an email to fill out your skincare routine and your concerns that you might want to share with them prior to the appointment. I learned that there could be so many concerns that I couldve brought up, but I didnt know or remembered at the time. The massage therapist, which unfortunately I forgot her name, was very gentle and explained every step and product that she used on my face. It was very helpful knowing it as I have dry and sensitive skin. The session flew by so fast as I was half asleep most of the time because I felt so relaxed. I would definitely come back again.
Im in town for a conference and took the time to book a massage. I was a little nervous due to a few of the 1 star reviews, but went with milk + honey anyways. Im so happy I did. The front desk ladies were super helpful and kind. Margarita, the therapist, was very intuitive, asked appropriate questions, and gave a very relaxing massage. Thank you, milk + honey! Ill be back if Im ever in town again!
The problem with Milk + Honey is their marketing. They call themselves a luxury spa, so customers go in expecting a luxury spa only to find it’s just… a salon like any other. Upon entering, the receptionists greet you by asking blandly if you have an appointment. Then they ask if you’d like tea while you wait — only to show you where to make the tea yourself in cheap reusable cups. The service providers are skilled and friendly, as they are in any salon located in a prime area of town. The space is clean and modern — but again, this is standard for any downtown Austin salon. Nothing particularly luxurious or spa-like or extra. The only thing luxurious about it are the inflated prices. They just need to stop pretending to be a “luxury escape” and I think the reviews would be better lol.
I was going with my friend to get her hair done. She made an appointment for a blow out and sent photos of her hair (curly) when she made the appointment and was assured it wouldn’t be a problem. When we got there she was TURNED AWAY because they “wouldn’t have time to blow out her curls.” This salon is a joke and I’ll tell everyone I know to NEVER come here! Apparently you can only get a blow out if your hair is already straight.
Check in does not give the luxury experience I want when going to a spa. However, April that does my facial and Joseph that does my deep tissue massage are both outstanding therapists. The service is top quality and the treatments cost align with service delivery. My only areas of improvement would be during the check in (don’t have a line of customers, then request them to complete check on a tablet) and the locker room (does not feel warm and fuzzy, relaxing or cozy). Both areas are functional and they work, but giving it just a little more attention and an upgrade to luxury would put you at a consistent 5-star rating.
We booked a deep tissue massage that cost over $250 USD and the therapist was literally rubbing oil on me for 75 min. I asked him to increase the pressure and nothing really changed. Very slow and weak experience. The staff is nice and the showers too but honestly wouldn’t recommend to receive a massage there. My friend did a massage and facial combo and had the same experience in the massage, the facial was great.
I had a deep tissue massage by Monica. For a petite woman she is super strong. Excellent massage! Had a facial and brow tint from Noa and she was also excellent. Highly recommend them both.
Horrible customer service. I went in for a signature pedicure, all they did was file my toenails and I was charged $65. The pedicurist decided she couldn’t do anything to paint or cut my toenails because I have one damaged toe nail and she didn’t want to risk it??????? First of all, WHAT? And why did she wait 30 minutes after she saw my feet to tell me this? When I went up to the receptionist asking to pay a lower price because I did not receive the full service she said I was still getting fully charged because my feet got soaked. Again ?????? Lots of question marks. I got very upset and asked to cancel my next day’s manicure appointment and she said she couldn’t cancel it and she charged me for it too. I am just speechless and surprised this place is still up and running with people like that receptionist with cero customer service, horrible tone of voice and attitude working there. Bad pedicurist too but at least she wasn’t rude.Oh and I’m 39 weeks pregnant. I’m just glad the baby did not come out of me because of how mad they made me get. 0 STARS!!!!!!
Wow! I visited Milk + Honey for my first facial. I was truly impressed by my overall experience. My friend and I scheduled signature facials for the same time and their team was helpful in finding time that worked well for us. We were welcomed into the light and airy lobby area and then brought back into the locker rooms to change into robes. The locker rooms have low lighting, which creates a relaxing environment. Their waiting room is filled with comfortable seating, light snacks, water, and tea.The signature facial was extremely soothing and enjoyable. My esthetician confirmed what I wanted to focus on and was knowledgable about all things skin and skincare. I did not want the hour to end. She also provide some skincare recommendations at the end of the appointment.I left with hydrated and glowing skin. This was a wonderful first facial experience!
I have been visiting the milk + honey spa in the 2nd Street District for over a decade, usually getting a 90 minute deep tissue massage. After COVID, I have been visiting less often; however, yesterday I visited the spa for a 45-minute hydrotherapy facial treatment with April. The front desk check-in was easy, and I headed into the mens locker room, where milk + honey offers TWO private steam showers. The lockers are electronically coded, and they provide robes and thick, rubber slippers. The steam shower takes about 5-10 minutes to start and warm up, but once in there, it feels like a dream. I usually spent about 20 minutes in there relaxing my muscles before a massage or opening my pores before a facial. After the shower, I put on my robe and headed into their lounge area, where they offered lemon- and cucumber-infused waters as well as snacks and hot teas.April came to get me in the lounge and we headed into one of the many private rooms where they conduct the treatments. I laid down in the bed, which is similar to the massage bed and enjoyed my treatment which consisted of extractions, various gels and lotions and a neck massage.I am huge fan of milk + honey, they are definitely my spa of choice, and they have a loyalty program where you can earn rewards such as money off treatments and products.
Booked my appointment no problem. I did not receive a confirmation email because the person who booked my appointment, entered my email wrong. So I had no clue about the parking, or the location being downtown Austin. I also had no clue that I would have to reschedule my appointment for being late, even though I called to let them know I would be late, and there was no issues over the phone. I get to the location after driving 1 hour and a half, and they tell me I have to reschedule my appointment, and also still pay for half of the service that I would have received. Very unprofessional, unorganized place. I will never return.
The front desk service is typically unpleasant and you see these people coming and going!! The hair salon itself has wonderfully trained staff, and exquisitely picked beauty supplies for sale. The view is amazing with floor to ceiling windows. You’re able to watch the traffic buzz by on Cesar Chavez catching glimpses of Town Lake. Besides the hair salon, the nail salon is simple yet top notch, the massages have been mediocre. What I love most is that my hair is still looking nice a day later! I give 3 stars due to the price/value comparison. For the prices, I expect more. However, I’m a happy loyal customer that’s been going there for over 14 years.
I recently had a blowout booked this past Saturday at 10am at the downtown location. While booking, I had an email conversation with an employee to go over what I was looking to get during my service and to discuss my current hair state. I mentioned that I had naturally curly hair and even sent multiple photos showcasing my hairs thickness and texture. I asked if I should show up with straight hair to help the process but I was assured my curly hair wouldn’t be a problem. Fast forward to my appointment and I am being walked out the door with NO SERVICE done because they said they “couldn’t accommodate my curls before the next client comes in”. I was embarrassed and incredibly stressed as this blowout was for a photoshoot later that day. I had to race to a Sephora to purchase products that I expected to be used on my hair during my service and quickly get home to style my hair myself. I ended up being late for my photoshoot and missing a dinner with friends I was visiting all together. I have since sent an email to this business about my experience and have received nothing. I did everything right and showed up to my appointment 15 mins early and it just felt like the next appointment was more important than the one I was already there for. I would never recommend this place to any of my friends if they actually want something done to their hair.
I went to get a massage at this spa for the first time two weeks ago and had the BEST massage ever with the masseurs Sky! I scheduled an hour full body massage and it wasnt enough. The massage was 10/10 and scalp massage was the highlight no doubt. I look forward to scheduling another massage with Sky ASAP. Highly recommend requesting Sky!
Belinda is the best! However, when I can’t get into her, I have been to a couple other people there. Everyone in the mani/pedi salon does a great job. When I first started going to them, my nails were so unhealthy and weren’t growing. I went to a Russian manicurist that was grinding down my cuticles. It took a few months, but we got my nails into great shape and they are so long and healthy now! The picture I posted is me actually needing a cleanup, but you can see how long they grow naturally now. Regular Mani Pedi’s here and their “everything oil” throughout the day have made my nails so healthy. :)
I was gifted the signature retreat here for my birthday. Absolutely a wonderful serene experience to give yourself or another. I started with a massage by TT, which was freaking amazing. I then did a facial. I did feel pain during my facial and unsure as to what was going on the whole time. I also didn’t really get any commentary about my skin and I still have some spots where I was poked with something hurting on my face. The products used felt refreshing though. I also got a mani and pedi. My gel nails chipped within a few days, however I work with my hands everyday so I’m thinking maybe it’s just how gel manicures are - they looked beautiful right when they were done. My toes still look wonderful a month later. Overall, I’d come back again for a massage as that was my favorite part during this experience. Thank you!
Their massages are weak, no matter what you fill out on intake forms for it to be hard/medium pressure. Frustrating and a very “frilly” massage vs. getting your knots out!
Natalie is an excellent stylist. I am blond and get full highlights and always leave looking great. The salon has a good selection of products to choose from such as divines. I highly recommend her and the salon.
Got a facial by Noa and a partial Balayage by Yasmine. Both were amazing! My skin felt so clean and hydrated. And Yasmine did a great job at blending the color into my hair to give me the natural look I was going for. Noa and Yasmine were also very sweet! Highly recommend them.
I dont have any issues with the technicians who do their jobs perfectly well (and I always tip them 30%), but maybe a place that likes to call itself a luxury escape could hire receptionists who are a bit more polite than the uncultured snub whos acting like a princess at the reception. She heard my French accent and was pretending not to understand what I was telling her, making me repeat things—seemingly getting some pleasure out of it. On top of it, Ive always paid cash at this location and havent had an issue with that.My service today cost $175. I gave her $220 (for the service and for the additional tip to my technician), and she refused to send me a receipt, pretending that she could not cash it in. Magically, she ended up still accepting it a few minutes later after I asked her 3 times to send me a receipt.I wont be returning.
Disappointed. I went in for a deep tissue massage and I explain to my therapist exactly where I felt the pain and the knots. She never even focused on that area, I never felt relief. I even asked her for more pressure but she didn’t even check back with me to see if that was good. I ended up paying $200 for a waste of my time. Will never go back.
Basic facial $150. Really welcoming waiting room, nice tea selection. Robe was comfy. I recommend Hadley as my skin care partisan. She was nice and informative and honest. Handwritten recommendations to leave with. I’ll definitely be coming back! Also Milk+Honey poem books are beautiful. I have had a few signed books for probably 5 years now.
I was in town for a short trip and looking for somewhere to get my nails done. I’m so glad I found this place! The space was charming and clean. The staff was wonderful, and Megan my nail tech was a delight! She was very thorough and took her time to do things properly. She was also full of great energy and gave me great tips on places I should visit while I’m here. Will definitely come back!
Went for a facial. My esthetician, Zuzia, is great. Im definitely going back because of her. The locker room is clean. The waiting lounge is also well designed, relaxing, and stocked with plenty of water. My only gripe? Front desk concierge were really meh, and seemed like they didnt want to be there, which is fine/fair, but it did ruin the zen vibe for me. I wish there was an option to pay and tip for my services without having to answer questions asked by people who couldnt care less.
I visited the Arboretum location for a simple hair cut. My stylist was running late, so I ended up rescheduling my appointment (which initially wasnt a big deal to me). I ended up having my hair cut at a second appointment and when I got home, showered, and dried my hair I noticed that my cut was both uneven and unblended in the back. I had to make a third trip to have my hair fixed, this time at the location Downtown. The stylist there did a good job evening up and blending the back. I didnt have to pay for this cut as it was considered a redo, but I did provide gratuity to the stylist who helped me.I later sent an email to the assistant manager detailing my experience, providing the photos attached, and asking for a partial refund for my cut. No one responded to me until I resent the email asking for assistance. Milk and Honeys response was that they would not give me a refund, but would give me some sort of upgrade to a future service at their salon. Obviously this is an unacceptable consolation considering I would have to spend more money at their salon in order to receive compensation for all the hassle and inconvenience my initial hair cut caused. I ended up paying for their mistakes with both my time and money as I paid double gratuities.I will not be returning to this salon, so their sorry is useless. Ill also add that no one has apologized to me for this ordeal. I think that I was very considerate and patient with the stylists and the salon in correcting this error, but it is frustrating that no one admitted this was a mistake and definitely not worth the full price of the service.
I couldnt be more pleased with the service provided. Johandry made the booking process for my husband and me incredibly easy and soothing. His attention to detail and customer service skills truly stood out. Thank you for making our experience stress-free and enjoyable!
Perfectly professional. Very accommodating to complete newbies (aka me). Had a great and soothing time!!
Reflecting on my experience here after recently getting a facial elsewhere and realizing how not-great this was...Im acne prone and I broke out so badly after this facial. at the end of the facial, the esthetician told me to touch my face and feel how smooth it was, which was confusing direction given that its generally a bad idea to touch your face and spread bacteria, let alone after a bunch of open wounds have been created by extractions. my face was not smooth, it was very red and hot from a bad reaction i had to the mask she used–my face looked like it was sunburnt. it was a red algae mask which is known to make acne worse. almost all of the pores she cleared got infected afterwards. I had some little bumps before the facial and they became full blown zits afterwards, it took weeks to clear. just a big disappointment :(
My mom & I had 2 very different experiences here. She loved her massage but mine was so bad I feel the need to write this review. I paid for a 90 minute deep tissue massage. 1. The massage was barely 75 minutes, which is not fair at all so they did discount me 15% off the cost. 2. It was not deep tissue, which you pay extra for. I work out 5 times a week and my muscles get very sore, my massage therapist did not use enough pressure and even after asking to up the pressure it still felt the same. It felt like she was not putting any effort into it. 3. There was also a lot of stalling. Randomly touching my ears, my forehead, washing her hands twice, many periods of no actual massage, which again is disappointing when you’re paying such a high price for a mediocre experience. The front desk was very understanding, friendly and appreciative of my feedback. Next time I will go to the woman my mom had, she had nothing but positive things to say!
Purchased a massage for my daughter. Called location (which is nearly impossible to do) to give them credit card for payment. Then they ask my daughter for payment even though she informed them that she thought it was already paid for. Notified them they double charged us and they told me to wait a few days and maybe one charge works drop off, which of course did not happen. Ridiculous.
My best master for super natural balayage is Yamily! So classy and nice result always, thank you so much :)
I would not recommend this salon for color. The first stylist dyed my hair with super grown out honey highlights. The color was pretty but I didn’t spend $400 to get highlights that look like theyve been growing out for 8 months. I called the salon and they suggested I book with another stylist for a redo. The second stylist turned me bright blonde (Im a brunette and was clear that I wanted to stay that way). My hair is now super dry and brittle. Go elsewhere, they dont know what they are doing.
I honestly cannot say enough great things about this location. Flew into town on vacation looking for a nice spot to get a massage and relax. The staff was extremely friendly, the lounge and locker room facilities were spot on, all of the amenities including the robes and sandals and showers with steam or top notch, and they had their own line of products available for sample in the locker room for your preparation to leave the facility. The massage therapist we had were absolutely amazing and we left there fully refreshed and ready to tackle our day in Austin. I 1,000% recommend this Spa if youre looking for a great day or even just a couple hours of relaxation!
I had a massage with JC this week at the 2nd street location and it was amazing! Her service and technique were lovely, I left feeling relaxed and at ease. The steam shower is also great!
Visited while I was in town for my birthday and loved every minute!Sky/Skye (sp?) did my massage and was absolutely perfect! They were phenomenal all around! Good pressure, great communication, and such a calming presence. Kelly did my facial, and her bubbly personality was infectious. She gave me some really good tips (and compliments on what I was doing right, which is always nice). This experience has really sold me on adding this into my self care routine whenever possible. For days afterward, I felt no tension in my shoulders, which is a miracle. And my skin was glowing!10 stars across the board
I had an absolutely incredible facial with Charlotte!! She has the most calming, gentle presence and the facial massage was the best I’ve ever had. I felt like I was floating! She also clearly has such an expert eye for skin health; her extractions felt invigorating and so satisfying. She totally made my skin glow. It was so good I immediately booked again for me and my friend! I highly recommend.
Very nice spa. It was a last-minute booking, so I was only able to get the 45-minute massage. Boy, do I wish I could have had more time to just relax afterward, but it was close to their closing time. I loved the steam shower and the overall atmosphere. The lady at the front desk was really nice. I can not remember her name, maybe Nina, but Im not sure.
I got my first facial today and I was blown away by the experience. Milk + Honey provided a luxury experience from beginning to end. My esthetician was amazing & the front office staff was kind and helpful. I accidentally left my jewelry in the pocket of the robe and had to call to notify and drive back to get it. By the time I got back to the spa the front desk staff had my jewelry waiting for me at the desk. A huge relief. I will definitely be coming back! I recommend this place to anyone looking for an elevated spa experience.
I read some of these reviews and they feel very scripted. While I did enjoy the services, I did have some hesitations.I booked my session over the phone for myself and my mother to enjoy. The booking was easy and they explained every detail. I filled out some forms online and confirmed my reservation. I paid an obscene amount of money but some things were subpar, in my opinion. The robes provided were worn and ripped and didn’t feel high quality. The slippers were mismatched and also, low quality. We attempted to use the lockers but there were several that were not working properly and were unusable. The robes would have been better to be kept in a shelf by size rather that randomly put in lockers that don’t work with mismatched slippers. The “snacks” offered were almonds and stale dried oranges. They were not good at all. The water we drank was plain room temperature water and it was NOT infused with anything. The lounge area was spacious and comfortable. My massage therapist was amazing. A lovely woman who showed care and attention detail. My facial esthetician, Jamaica, was incredible. Kind and friendly. Knowledgeable and a joy to work with. The receptionist seemed bored or maybe tired or annoyed. Either way, his expression and demeanor made me uncomfortable.I would go there again for the wonderful professionals there but the little things that I mentioned made the experience a little less fabulous than expected.
I have been coming here for years - I told my mother it was my favorite spa in Austin ~6 years ago, so she buys me gift certificates for most life events and holidays. The services have always been great (with the exception of one snotty esthetician). The problem is the front desk staff during checkout. When I use a gift from my mother, they treat me like I have wandered in asking for a free meal. They don’t offer me the products my esthetician has suggested when I mention the certificate. I find myself feeling anxiety and dread whenever I make an appointment that I’m not paying for with cash or credit. Instead of leaving feeling relaxed I have a pit in my stomach.I have never tipped less than 20%, regardless of if I’m using cash, credit, or gift certificate. I have been debating telling my mother I don’t actually appreciate her generosity because of the checkout experience, but don’t want to disappoint her.So, if you want to buy a gift for a family member I would absolutely avoid this spa.If you’re paying for your own service you’ll be treated with respect and they will let you purchase the products your provider suggests.
From beginning to end, my time at the downtown location of milk + honey was blissful and easy! The front desk staff were all so sweet and helpful, Leah, the stylist that cut my hair, was amazing, hilarious, incredibly talented and kind and the atmosphere was just what you need after any kind of day! Can’t wait till my next visit!
Bad experience with their customer service. Didn’t get what I asked and payed for and even after I kindly questioned why they still made me pay full price for a half done job. Due to their bad customer service I cancelled my next appt and they charged me again for cancelling. Not coming back…
A girl at front desk, very rude and a full of herself. Was in from out of town and upon arrival, found out they booked the appointment for the next week. Rescheduled appointment and rude girl would not allow use of bathroom and stated, its only for paying customers (which we were - BTW this place is not cheap). However, to give them credit, someone from facility did call back and left message with apology and did discount some of the cost. My massage was so so, but my daughter said that she received the best message she had ever gotten.
I went there twice in the same week, so I’m not sure which stylist I am reviewing. I liked both stylists. They were professional and they know what they’re doing , however, both times my hair did not turn out the way I asked nor didn’t look at all like the picture that I showed them. I also did not like the products that they use. It’s horribly overpriced for what you get. I will likely never go back again.
BROOKE Z is the best of the best! She is so talented and professional. She gave me great tips and amazing information about my skin care routine and products. I told her my issues with me skin Iv been having and she recommended the ocean cleanser and lotion. Its been a game changer for my skin!! Absolutely THE BEST!! ❤️
Worst experience ever. Massage therapist doesn’t show up for my massage. Staff doesn’t tell me for over 40 minutes. I was just waiting and realized it was taking too long so I went back to front desk and they stumbled about and finally told me that I didn’t have a therapist for my appointment. I had cancelled other plans for this spa appointment. Very unprofessional. I will not go back to Milk and Honey Salon. It’s not the same salon that it was 10 years ago. Too many better choices for spa services in Austin. Milk and Honey needs to revamp its commitment to clients, staff and customer service.
I scheduled a massage while visiting Austin for my birthday. I picked milk + honey based on good reviews and convenient location. Very happy with my choice! Katie W is petite but powerful. She was extremely knowledgeable and responsive to my needs. Would not hesitate to return if I’m ever back in Austin.
Love getting facials here! Huma is the best! Relaxing and effective!
I absolutely LOVE David - he cuts my hair beautifully each and every time. *plus* his wealth of curly hair knowledge is much appreciated. I consider myself well versed in the curly hair game but always learn a new tip from David.
I’ve been seeing Huma for facials for over a year now! She has the kindest soul and really cares about her customers. She has gone above and beyond for me and helped get my skin get back on track. I will continue to get all my facials here by her!
Had an Awesome spa experience! I had a signature massage and hot oil scalp treatment.Ze is very knowledgeable and intentional with his skill and craft.Highly recommend Ze as your masseuse.
If you are looking for a place to escape even for just a few hours look no further. The staff was incredible, atmosphere was relaxing and this was just what I needed to disconnect for a bit before the start of a conference I was attending.I did the healthy gel manicure and the lux pedicure and if I find myself back in Austin I will definitely be back and plan to get a massage also! The locker room was great, there was everything you needed to get ready for your day after any service you receive. Everything was so clean and the staff was so welcoming.
One of the best Spa experience so far! I had the hydrating body cocoon and it was so so so good. The brushing was gentle, the massage so well done and overall my skin felt amazingly good afterwards. Aside from the professionalism and kindness, the resting area was very comfortable. Could spend a while day there! Definitely one of my highlight during my Austin trip.
Ive been to several Milk and Honeys and decided to give 2nd street a try. 1st..parking is a problem. You have to find the RIGHT garage which accepts validated parking from M&H. In the email sent they recommend getting there 15-20 min early to find parking and mentally shift from the outside world to the spa. I had a 75 min massage scheduled..after I found parking and walked to M&H, I checked in to find out they validate for 90 minutes. 🤔 So I ended up having to pay a little for parking.2nd...check in was simple and I was walked back to the locker room to find 3 customers already there. Let me tell ya..4 or more people in that locker room are a crowd. There were several lockers which didnt have robes/shoes and then several others that wouldnt shut due to the lock being activated.3rd.. found a locker and got into the super duper comfy robe and slippers♥️. Went to the steam shower to find the water flow to be incredibly dismal. The very soft towel looked old and was unraveling ☹️. Went to the restroom which was SUPER small and the toilet wouldnt flush. 2 more women were brought in and there was hardly any room to move around. They were looking for somewhere to change but there is nowhere to change other than in the open bc the restroom stall was WAY too small to try to change in.4th...made it to the lounge and there were 5 women there. 2 were having a conversation just like they were at a bar..loudly. and I think one of them might have some music playing from their phone. They were in street clothes so maybe they were just hanging out after their service?5th...IM CAPITALIZING THIS PART BC MY MASSAGE WAS AHHH-MAZING. MY MASSEUSE WAS ATTENTIVE, PERSONABLE, PROFESSIONAL, AND JUST ALL AROUND GREAT AT HIS JOB. HE GETS 5 STARS.All in all I wont be back to this location because it just doesnt live up to the other locations.
Beautiful spa. Beauticians were kind an accommodating. It didn’t feel worth the price I paid for a manicure though. Vegan nail polish looked dull. There was no base coat or top coat applied. Over all service was wonderful. Just not happy with the final product for the cost.
I’d come here again for the spa services. The facial I received was amazing and the atmosphere super relaxing and calm. I had a friend come here from out of town expecting it to be more of an all day hang out place, which it is not, so something to keep in mind. However the facial and massage is worth the visit :)
Jamaica did my lucky facial today. I usually use Milk and Honey for facials but she was extra special. Very careful and delicate with my skin. It felt so soft and moisturized. Loved the experience. The survey links didn’t work when they sent to me so leaving a review!
Skip the prestige, it’s just not worth it. I booked an appointment in advance for my birthday and the day-of I received a call saying the masseuse I booked was sent home for sickness. Okay, understandable. I thought I’d receive options to rebook that fit the two preference I requested (female masseuse, medium pressure). Wrong. I was presented with 3 options, 2 male masseuses and 1 woman at 4pm, same day. I accepted the reschedule for the 4pm. I’m not gonna lie, I started crying mid-massage because of how painful it was, which I’ll accept the majority of that blame is on me— I should’ve requested lighter pressure, however I didn’t because the first time I came to m+h my masseuse asked me about these things. I also assumed they’d honor the same requests for a rebook. When I called to schedule originally, I requested the same woman but the computer system didn’t have that information. However, the woman on the phone excitedly paired me with someone she thought would be a great fit. I can tell there was absolutely no thought put into the reschedule. They did throw in a free back scrub but most of it was in my hair at the end of the massage. My largest critique is the front desk staff who genuinely are apathetic to your existence. Also, I had to pay $18 for parking because they don’t validate after 5pm. This would be a keen detail to mention when rebooking, I read all instructions the night prior for my originally booked 10am appointment, where I wouldn’t have even ran into this issue.I only give this 2 stars for my original masseuse. She was so kind and attentive.
I ordered from them online and I mistakenly ordered shampoo and not conditioner— 100% my fault. I was hoping for a full refund and a return label and they EXCEEDED my expectations. This was truly the best customer service experience I’ve ever had. The woman I spoke with was SO nice and she processed an exchange for me free of charge and fixed my subscription. Absolutely amazing. I boasted about it to all my friends for like a week.
I was pretty disappointed leaving my appointment last weekend. I came in with my mom and the only availability was 45 mins so that’s what we booked, okay it was short but I was excited to try a new place in town while she was visiting. We go in early to relax and our massages were at 5:15. My mother’s masseuse came and got her right at 5:15 and then I was waiting for about 4 minutes after. I go into the room with my masseuse and it’s 5:19, we chat she is super kind asking what kind of massage I wanted and I get them all the time at other places and told her exactly what I wanted. She asked me to get ready she stepped out and then I was ready and in the bed. Looked at the clock it was 5:29 when she started. The massage was amazing and she did what I needed. But then when she said we were all done and she would be waiting for me outside when I was ready I looked at the clocked and it was 6:03. Shorting my massage 11 minutes. I wouldn’t care if it was like a minute or three but 11. It was already supposed to be a short massage at 45 minutes, I was appalled. When I stepped out of the room to her greeting me I told her it was amazing but I didn’t not receive the whole time. I could tell she felt bad and asked me what she could do, hoping maybe we could step back in and complete the time or discount the amount and charge me for a 30 at the counter but I was speechless. None of that was said. When my mother went to the counter to pay the associate helping her promised i got my full time. Making me look crazy because he assured he I did. I can read a clock and I didn’t get my full time. I am shocked this was how it was handled especially for first time guests.
Awesome service. Wonderful treatment. Very nice setup and staff.
I can not say enough about my experience here. I got a 60 minutes signature facial and loved every minute of it. It was my first facial and they walked me through what they were doing every step of the way and the products were high quality. I really enjoyed the facilities and the staff. The facilities are super clean and relaxing, they offer you drinks and have a lounge that it very comfortable. They made the entire experience very pleasant and I left feeling well taken care of and like my money had been well spent.
Disappointing experience!! I booked an appointment twice in this salon and didn’t got any service done!! At first I book it as one color treatment but I was told for the service I required I need to book for a full balayage. So I missed work for a second day to book for the right service. When I got there I met the (stylist) Lauren which I don’t recommend btw, she just look at my hair and told me right away that she will not perform the service because my hair will need extra time which she doesn’t have! What!!! I just missed work for this and book the right appointment! Just to be told right away I can’t do it in a very very bad tone and attitude! Awful experience! This place doesn’t deserve your time and money!!
I had the hydrating body cocoon massage on Oct 10th. The service of the massage was sub par. The cocoon wrap was just like wrapping me in a weighted blanket. The massage itself was just okay and did not address the concerns I had voiced. I had a birthday add on for the hair mask, which overall was okay. Except my hair is thick and the one application did not even cover half my hair. Luckily I had a gift certificate for the service as I would have been disappointed paying full price. I have received a better massage at a Massage Envy. The pros of the spa is that the place is very clean and welcoming with nice music, hot tea, water and a robe to change into. All of the staff was very nice and pleasant.
While I was a big fan of a massage experience I had last year, the result of my color and cut was disappointing. The color washed off in less than 2 weeks which for me is 4 washes. Even after buying the EXPENSIVE product my stylist recommended, the color washed off and the cut she gave me was barely noticeable. I do not recommend this place for color work (dark) especially after other people have confirmed that their color has also washed off very quickly.
My friend and I went in here for my birthday, back in June. We had the best time. The location was deceiving. I thought it was going to be a normal spa. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the staff. The showed me the women’s locker room (incredible). The staff provided any missing items. I walked into what felt like an oasis. I waited for my masseuse, and was greeted and brought into my room. My 60 minute message went by way to quickly. I will must definitely be visiting again!
Great hair salon and treatments. Always a warm welcome when you walk in the door. Spa is pricy but worth it - nails and hair are a great price. Love Callie, shes an amazing stylist! I recommend her to all of my friends. I look forward to relaxing here when I get my hair cut! And they have online booking too!
Amazing! I had a 45 minute deep tissue massage - their appointments are typically 1-1.5 hours, but they were luckily able to squeeze me in and Im so glad they did!! The whole staff was so kind and I immediately felt at peace in this space. The waiting areas and showers were so clean and thoughtfully presented, loved the steam shower function. The only dissatisfactory part about my appointment was having to leave. Oh how I hated to leave my warm cocoon of a furry blanket and honey scented massage lotion, with air so warm I couldnt even feel where I was covered! Now for the massage....Nick was SO good. My shoulders were very tight and I was carrying so much stress and tension in them, and my whole upper body feels completely different now! No more tension, I used to feel pain in my shoulders whenever I sat down for more than 15 minutes, I guess this is what life is like without that? Amazing. The pressure was perfect, and exactly what I needed. Thank you Nick! And thank you Milk+Honey for giving me this beautiful experience.
I decided to go to Milk & Honey for my first ever facial. I ended up getting a Hydra facial though Megan and she did such an AMAZING job! Milk & Honey went above and beyond. From the welcoming front desk ladies, to the end of my spa treatment. Everything was handled with TOP NOTCH service. I highly recommend Megan. She explained the whole process to me and kept me informed with every next step as it was my first facial and I was very interested. At the end of my treatment, she recommended an amazing product that has helped my skin so much. I look forward to my next appointment and will be sure to request Megan!
Long over due review- had a fantastic massage here. The salon is clean, organized and quiet. All things you want (or at least I do) when having a massage. Everyone was very helpful and polite. The massage was perfect and very relaxing. I had issues with my shoulders and he worked out the knots- not an easy task!!
I get my hair done with Danielle at the 2nd st location and she is absolutely amazing! The salon itself is beautiful and the rest of the staff I have interacted with are very friendly!
I had the worst hair color experience. I came in to get a hair color for my wedding. I specifically showed a picture of the color that I was looking for, which was a mix of purple and red. Initially the stylist colored my hair pink and was trying to sell it to me saying it’s looking good. When I said I am not happy with it she added purple twice. Now my hair is so dark that the color is hardly visible. It mostly looks black even after bleaching the hair before adding color.I also asked for an angled haircut, shorter from the back and long from the front. She hardly cut any hair at the back and said I’ve cut a lot and refused to go shorter!Safe to say my wedding pictures are not going to be what I imagined. I regret getting my hair done here.
I had a 60 min deep tissue massage with Lori. It was a very relaxing experience and just what I needed.
I went to Milk and Money last night and got my hair cut at 6 PM OMG. I haven’t had a haircut in close to a year and have been growing it out but my ends were fried. I knew I needed to get a trim and I also wanted to do something that made me feel like I was getting a change while still keeping the length and so I decided to get fringe and layers. The gal that cut my hair had an amazing consultation with me and we were able to create a vision in my head that turned out even better than I imagined. Thank you thank you thank you! The only thing I would recommend is add the stylist’s name to the invoice and receipts. I can’t recall my gals name and wanted to give her a shout out. I just checked my emails and do not see her name listed anywhere.
My husband set up an appointment go get my nails and hair done. He was recommended this place and honestly dont know why. I felt rushed from the moment I step foot in the place. My stylist rushed me to make a decision about my hair and then cut it shorter than what we had discussed. It was as if she was just trying to get me out of her chair. The nail tech was more pleasant but still very short with me. She recommended a certain line of nail polish because, per her, it would last longer. Well my nails started chipping the next day. While I appreciate my husbands gift, I will definitely not be going back again. Ill spend my money at a much less expensive salon and get much better customer service.
Fabulous salon in the perfect location! They have the best gel colors out of any salon I have ever been to and the vibes are spot on for a relaxing treat yourself kind of day. Customer service was top notch. 10/10 recommend!
This is my go to spa for a relaxing and indulgent mani & pedi. Rhonda at the front desk is gracious and friendly. They have a great selection of gel and non-gel colors. Every technician Ive had has made the experience lovely.
I have been going to milk + honey for many years now and for a variety of services (massage, facial, nails, waxing, hair, makeup) and I always have an awesome experience. Everyone that works there is courteous, professional, and attentive. The locker room is always clean. I always walk out relaxed and taken care of. When people ask me which spa I like to go to, I always recommend m+h.
I have been here many times for many different services. Every time I am greeted quickly by their friendly staff and offered a beverage. The hair dressers listen to requests and will also help guide you to a great look. The waxing staff is professional and gentle, even with sensitive skin I have never had an issue. The locker rooms are clean and comfortable. The messages are relaxing and soothing.I would love to give 5 stars, but recently the prices have increased to a point that seem inflated for the services. There is also no parking validation for lots and finding a street spot can be difficult.
My first visit today. I was welcomed by friendly staff, in a calm, clean, and relaxing environment. I had my hair cut by Richard. Not only was he polite, friendly, gentle, and attentive, but he was also very well versed in the cutting techniques I requested. Best of all, my haircut turned out precisely how I wanted. As an added bonus, the salon didnt smell like a typical salon. Instead, I smelled the lovely scent of eucalyptus and other such oils that were in use in the spa section at the other end of the room.
My wife loved her mani/pedi. The massage from Margarita was incredible, I went in with back pain that had been plaguing me for weeks and left without any pain at all
I went to this salon a few months ago and got a haircut with Amanda and She put a lot of time to make sure I love my hair. Today I decided to go and get a haircut with her unfortunately she was booked so The front desk lady told me theres another hair stylist available and she promised me that she would be as great as Amanda.the new hairstylist greeted me nicely and introduced me to the gentleman who washed my hair. Before she ask me that what I wish to do with my hair she told me that I need to pay a bit more. then I told her that I want my hair to look different, I asked for heavier bangs and told her to thinner my hair extremely and I dont want to have a lot of layers. She told me for thinning my hair I need a lot of layering. And I said nicely its ok and I trust her and to do her best.First of all I didnt get the head massage which They have to do. And about cutting part, I think it only took her 5 or 7 minutes to cut my her, and she took a lot of time to blow drying my Hair. then when she was done with the blow drying she shortened my bangs to above my eyebrows which I said I want it to be under my eyebrows, even She didnt layered any of my hair in order to make it thinner, even though I reminded her a few times during the service. And she avoided to fix my bangs the way I wanted. At the end I gave up on telling her what I want.I dont know where does her irresponsibility come from! Im not saying she was racist or not but At the moment I was thinking she doesnt care because Im a foreigner and have an accent and for that reason she thinks Im stupid and dont understand.I was thinking about 75 $ service plus 25$ tip. But at the end I had to pay 95$ for service! I didnt really wanted to tip her! The only reason I included tip is because of the guy who washed my hair and I didnt want her to feel bad so I included 5$ Tips for her and 15$ for the guy.I didnt get the service I deserved and paid for! When I got home my best friend and my boyfriend they both didnt noticed any changes and they said it looked better before and I shouldnt have cutting my hair.I think its not a wise decision to put unprofessional people next to professionals and advertising them with a lot of confidence! Im so pissed and angry. I have had cut my hair in many great salons in different places (US, Europe, and my home country) and I never had this experience before. The time I scheduled with Amanda I had longer hair and my hair was split and unhealthily. Amanda did a great shampooing and conditioning + head and forehead massage + put a lot of time on cutting my hair (cutting bangs and thinning) + blow drying + cutting again and correcting + styling and a applying hair products. And asked me a few times if I like it or not. For that service I paid 75 $ plus tip.I booked a redo appointment with Amanda to fix my hair tomorrow! But Im not sure if I want to go back to this salon again after that if they dont feel responsible for my experience.
I had the 45 minute signature facial done. For the Austin area, I thought their prices were reasonable. I received cleansing, toning, extractions, high frequency, face masks, serums and SPF application. The tech was amazing, and she was able to completely get rid of all the blackheads on my nose. I was very impressed and would definitely recommend.Even with COVID, they are very responsible. I felt comfortable and safe while there.
I do not recommend coming here for a basic pedicure. I can’t speak on their other services. The pedicure is overpriced for what you receive. The basic pedicure doesn’t include polish. The seats are uncomfortable. I did not find the environment relaxing at all. For the most part I was uncomfortable. My heels are still a little rough. They use a very light tough during the pedicure as they rub in lotion and oils. There’s no real “elbow grease” into removing your dry skin. I believe it’s intentional. It’s just not my preference. Other than that the staff is friendly.
I gifted $500 worth of gift cards with an online purchase. Only to he told by the receiver they had received similar gifts. I called M&H customer service, spoke for about 2/3 mins and they issued a complete refund within 48 hours!Very impressed, hope I get to use their services in the near future.Thank you
Fabulous first visit to Milk + Honey yesterday! My 60-minute signature massage with Lydia was incredible! She was very knowledgeable and really took the time to listen to my concerns & focus points. I left feeling more relaxed than I have in years! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a stylish, inviting, & rejuvenating spa experience in Downtown Austin.
Leah in the hair salon is absolutely amazing!! I haven’t loved my hair as much as I love it now in yearsssss. I have already rebooked with her. She will be my stylist as long as I’m in Austin. 💕
Best massages of our lives for my friend and I; plain and simple. The atmosphere was relaxing, clean, elegant, and professional. We appreciated the respect, friendliness and willingness to accommodate demonstrated by the staff. My friend and I left extremely happy. We come to Austin every year at least once and will be making Milk & Honey a regular stop without a doubt!
They called me an hour before my appointment on Saturday to cancel on me. I asked to reschedule for they next day Sunday & they could not accommodate me. I asked if they could fit me in at any of the other locations close by. They could not. I didn’t make plans tonight so I could specifically get my nails done. I have limited free time and important meetings coming up all week & I’m left with chipping gels and calling around town short notice to try to have some place squeeze me in on a Sunday. This spa charges client when they are late but they have no problem or concern canceling on you short notice. Unacceptable double standard. Thanks for the added stress & short notice. Really professional!UPDATE -It has been well over a week & I have received ZERO communication from Milk + Honey. Everything Milk + Honey said in their response was to make them look like they care & value their customer online. You clearly do not. At this point please do not contact me. I am not interested in supporting companies like yours. Ill go some where I am valued as a customer. The Now is opening in Austin for massages....they value their clients.
This was my first visit to Milk & Honey. I have very naturally curly hair and it is difficult to find a stylist who can cut it and not make me look like a poodle or give me a mullet, so when a friend of mine recommended Sunshine at Milk & Honey, needless to say, I was a bit wary.I went in this last Sunday and Sunshine was so sweet and nice! Not only did she listen to what I was telling her about my fears for my hair cut, but she understood! She listened to everything I had to say about what I wanted and then she worked her magic. Another thing I appreciated was that she did not rush, she did it step by step so I was comfortable with the cut and she worked on it until I was happy. (I was going from very long to very short, radical change.)Thank you so much Sunshine! You are amazing and talented! You will be my one and only choice for a stylist as long as I am in Austin! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my new hair!!!!
Just had the worst service experience ever here. Iv been coming to milk and honey for years and today has been the most frustrating situation ever. It’s formula 1 weekend and there was NO PARKING ANYWHERE i drove in circles around milk and honey over 10 times trying to find parking I was on time for my appointment but there was NOTHING around I called the office to update them to tell them I’m here but I couldn’t find parking and then they still canceled my appointment that would have taken 10 mins at most. In super disappointed in them. I’m shocked I was treated like this when I know my stylist is very high demand. Again incredible disappointed and frustrated
Love this salon. They do a great job and their techs are awesome.BEWARE about gel removal charges. Even if you get your gel done at the salon, they will charge you $15 for removal. Most salons won’t charge you for the removal if you got the gel at their salon. So if you wanted to get gel again, they will charge $15 removal + $60 = $75 for your second gel manicure.
My daughter and I were in Austin on vacation and I called last minute for facials for the two of us. I loved being able to get in within a few hours and late in the evening too. We both had the 45 minute signature facial and loved it. Chrissy was my partisan. She was a joy to talk to and was extremely talented. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. I really enjoyed the experience and hope to come back again!
Mandy was my stylist and she did an amazing job! She hasn’t been working at this location for very long but I can assure you you’re in great hands. I haven’t been this happy with a haircut in a long time. Would highly recommend this salon, especially Mandy! She took her time talking with me to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted.
Have I really not reviewed Milk + Honey yet? Well here it goes... this place is pretty amazing. My husband and I went for massages last month and we were pleasantly surprised that although the spa is located right off the hustle and bustle of Cesar Chavez, it was totally peaceful and serene in there. The relaxation area could use some work - not that it wasnt pretty but it was a little noisy and hard to miss the people going to and from massages. Maybe a nice curtain to cover the door? Either way - I received a prenatal massage and at 34 weeks pregnant it was practically sent from God. They dont have the prenatal table but provided me with ample body pillows and let me lay on my side which made the experience great. My husband also loved his massage, and for 75 min they are priced pretty competitively. We will definitely be back for a treat!
Nice location, some of the technicians were wonderful. The locker room was VERY disappointing, dirty items in showers, no body wash in showers. Worst of all a male came into the women’s locker room to clean up while many were getting dressed. I won’t be back.
I went to this place for 5 years and loved it. My stylist eventually moved away so I switched stylists. Haircuts were still good, but Milk + Honey started tacking on fees like extra long and thick hair fee for an extra $25 when I had never been charged that before when my hair used to be longer. My hair is just passed my shoulders --- definitely dont recommend going here when you can find just as good service without the additional fees.
Most amazing spa experience. Lovely robes, tea, lounge spaces. Great facial followed by a steam shower. Plan to get there early and stay late so you get the full experience.
After many years of searching for a hair stylist that is knowledgeable about naturally curly hair, my journey has ended. Amanda at Milk and Honey Salon is simply put, amazing. She walked me through every step and option, ensuring my comfort with the process, and was kind and considerate. I enjoyed my service from the start to the finish. I highly recommend this salon.
This is by far my favorite location for Milk and Honey. The steam showers after a massage are amazing. You can not go wrong with any facial service here. Parking is a pain.
Kirstin is probably the first massage therapist that actually LISTENED to me when I explained what I wanted to focus on during my massage. I feel like I usually explain and then they just go ahead and do their regular routine. The staff here are always friendly and attentive without being over the top and obnoxious. Teresa, their general manager, also followed up with me after my visit in regards to their follow up survey. Im impressed with their level of customer service. Ive been here so many times over the years and will obviously be back.
Reception girls and even the girl that did my nails deserve 5 stars for hospitality. But overall quality of manicure, 1 Star. My boyfriend got me a gift card for our anniversary and I was so excited because of the superb reputation. Even the girl that did my nails dropped on multiple occasions that the quality of service at Milk + Honey is like none other. Well 3 days after the manicure and half my nails are chipped. I even picked the brand of polish that is supposed to last longer. Also I’d like to point out that I work a desk job. I don’t partake in any strenuous activities that would cause my nails to chip. Extemely disappointed and I will be going back to my regular nail place where my manicures are PERFECT for at least 3 weeks.
The products that they use at Milk + Honey are quality, but I dont think that price matches the value. I dont mind paying more for a job well done and exceptional customer service, but I didnt find anything all that exceptional here. The staff wasnt particularly accommodating and while I wasnt displeased with my haircut and color, I wasnt wowed either. On my second visit, my stylist didnt really speak to me the entire time. Im not really one to chat through the whole service, but she acted pretty disinterested when I was throwing around some ideas of what I wanted for color, and ultimately just told me what she planned to do, which was pretty run of the mill. It didnt feel like a consultation at all. I think Ill keep shopping for a hair salon in Austin for something more customer focused and personalized.
Haven’t even been in and they’ve already ruined my birthday treat. They won’t honor an email they sent me to upgrade my massage for my birthday unless it works for them not me, the paying client. The only thing they have to say is “we can honor that next time you come in” aka pay more and certainly we can try and make it work. Maybe you shouldn’t advertise that you can add something on at your next appointment. Birthday gifts aren’t conditional. Terrible customer service. Let’s hope the massage is better than the way they treat and serve their customers.
I was on a weekend away with a fellow mom friends and we were looking for a place to match our varied needs. We chose Milk and Honey in Austin, Texas for our massage packages. Boy did they deliver. My 120-minute package was beyond exceptional. Travis listened to my requests at the beginning of the session. He concentrated on my lower back and was able to release my psoas. My body has never felt better. My girlfriend had a session with Chance after her original masseuse called in sick. It was the best massage of her life. She was happy she took a chance. Thanks again Milk + Honey downtown Austin for a great time!
This place is not very professional. Im not a picky person and I usually dont do negative reviews but they deserve this one. My appointment was for 2pm and the massage therapist was rushing me at 1:45 because she thought it was at 1:45 and supposedly i was late when i told her more than once my appointment was for 2 until she checked and said sorry. I was talking to my husband in the phone and she would constantly interrupt me because i was late which I wasn’t. Super rude!!’ Then the facial girl was another story. I told her the steamer was a bit to hot and she stopped for like a minute and then just made it even hotter maybe because I said something. And finally i did a couples package that included manicure and they said I didn’t get that. Also the facial was not a good facial at all. The massage was okay. Very expensive for something thats not worth it and customer service sucks. DONT COME HERE
Massage was magical! Daniel is a gem. My only suggestion to folks - the hot oil scalp and neck massage is more of a hot oil treatment for your hair and less of a massage. If that’s what you’re after, it’s totally worth it. My hair has never looked this healthy!
David was technical and very entertaining. Best stylist I have ever had. I would like to keep in touch with him as we live in north Texas. I only want my haircuts from him.
Made a last minute appointment here for my friend in town on Saturday and they were able to get her in for a hair cut within an hour and a half! Sissy was super nice and accommodating and my friend left loving her cut. The salon is super clean and well decorated. Great value for what you pay here!
I just want to give Lauren a huge thank you for the most amazing hair color! I came in with a balayage that was very yellow and uneven. Asked for it to be blended and more ash to match my natural color and she listened to me perfectly! My hair has never looked better and I have never received more compliments on my color! 10/10!!!
Salon and location are super nice. I went for a haircut a few weeks ago and I would liken it to a haircut I could get at a low cost chain. The stylist sat behind me in the chair and sectioned my hair into 2 layers and cut straight across. It’s so blunt and choppy looking. I’m pretty bummed because I’ve been to milk+honey for other spa services and loved it :(
Ive been coming to M+H for years due to the quality experience and service they deliver. Theyre my go-to spa for lux massages and facials. My hubby and sweet boys love to surprise me with gift cards every year and its always the perfect treat and place for relaxation. Highly recommend.
The scent of honey is so calming as soon as you open the door. ASK FOR KAT! She was absolutely AMAZING. I was on cloud 9 for the next few hours after my sports massage. Went for a bachelorette bash and besides the appointment times being scattered all day, it went well. I usually prefer to get my massages from men mainly because the hands and the pressure, etc but she was seriously one of the best Ive ever had. She listened to the areas I wanted focused without leaving out the rest of my body. Everything was perfect. Thank you SO much! I feel like a new woman! Definitely making it a priority to visit every time I go to Austin. Telling the whole world KAT! Xoxo
M + H truly offered a top notch spa experience. Everything was so beautiful, clean and peaceful. The service was incredible, Terri, looking at you and your magical hands. The prices are so reasonable for a massage and the steam room showers made me fall in love with the place all over again.
Best massage! I am in town for a visit and the hotel recommended this spa. I have many neck and shoulder aches and pains and Katherine was able to address them all with a sport stretch and massage! She is extremely knowledgeable and skilled. I wish I lived closer to come back for more! Also, the facilities are immaculate and clean and very covid safe!
I got a last-minute appointment with Ana and it was truly one of the best massages I’ve ever had. I walked in feeling wired and stressed and left feeling completely calm and relaxed. She has healing hands. I highly recommend her.
I went in for a for a hair cut and color and it was the worst experience ever. I wanted to cover up my few grey hairs that I had so I wanted the color to be as close to my natural color as possible, but it did not turn out that way. The girl matched my hair up and didnt even show me what color she had picked, and I was already pretty nervous about it because being Hispanic, everyone thinks my hair is black and in certain lighting it looks black, but it is not. Well she ended dying my hair black and she put so much dye on me that when I left, I had black dye on my forehead and inside my ears. I literally wanted to cry because it was so off from what my natural color. I even asked her before she started if it was going to be black and all she said was, I matched it as close as possible. When I called to complain, they told me to give it a few days for it to fade a little. This was the first time I have ever dyed my hair and for paying so much money, I would expect it to look the way I want it right away and not have to wait a few days for it to fade. Needless to say, this happened about 3 months ago and Im still dealing with the black hair. I wish I would have never stepped in to dye my hair, I miss my natural color. It looks like they mostly treat people very nicely and give them a lot of attention, but I did not receive the same service and it was very noticeable. I would not recommend this place.
My very pregnant wife booked us a couples massage here for my birthday weekend. I love getting a massage but this was another level of relaxation. They have a great steam shower in the locker room, which I recommend before and after if you have time.Worth the money.
This is one of the best salons/spas in Austin if youre looking for something lavish and upscale-- a great place to really treat yourself and rejuvenate. Try to arrive early before your massage/facial/treatment so you can relax in a robe in the lounge, enjoying calming music and herbal-infused water or tea. Especially since the price point is on the higher end, its best if you take advantage of the full spa experience to make the most of what youre paying.I had the Lux massage, which was like a mix between Swedish and deep tissue. I requested the massage therapist work more on my upper back and shoulders, which she definitely did. She used heating pads, some sort of Ben-Gay muscle cream, and peppermint lotion that was extremely relaxing and helping relieve some of the muscle tension I was suffering from. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the massage experience at about a 7.If youre looking for something very relaxing, I would advise not to book a session for Friday afternoon or Saturday at this location. As you might expect, they tend to get very busy, especially during wedding season. I could sense that the massage therapist was more concerned about time than she might have been on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
Kenneth was absolutely amazing! Ive had long hair all my life but decided that I was going to cut it short and donate it. I was beyond nervous but Kenneth made me feel so comfortable and I LOVE my new haircut! I would highly recommend Milk & Honey (especially Kenneth!).
Absolutely fantastic experience. Ive been here for massages and nail services and every time I am very satisfied with my experience. They have two steam showers so that if you show up early to your massage, you can partake ahead of time. Ive had the best massages here and had a really great mani pedi experience. Even though its a bit costly, its completely worth the money because of the quality.
This was the worst salon experience I have ever had, only because of the stylist I was paired with. DO NOT get Jessica. She is rude and unprofessional. I came in to get a simple balayage ombre sort of look, no cut, and told her how I wanted it to look understanding that I might not get my hair super blonde right off the bat since I have dark brown hair. She said, your hair is damaged so you need to get a cut. I tell her I do not want a cut, and that I want to proceed. She exclaims I WONT DO IT. IM NOT PUTTING COLOR ON YOUR HAIR UNLESS WE CUT IT. I was taken a back, and embarrassed that she was raising her voice at me and trying to intimidate me into something I dont want. It ended up being a lose lose situation..either I sit there and do what she wants, or leave and lose half of $275 because I have to pay 50% fee for her time lost if I cancel in less than the 24 hour time period.Either way, I hate the cut she gave me. Its absolutely terrible, and I didnt know how much I hated it at the salon because she curled it. My hair is slick straight, and the cut looks awful unless I too attempt to curl it everyday. Also, she did not get even close to the color I wanted. I know my hair and I know how light it can pull because Ive gotten my hair done at many reputable salons and they had no problem achieving the look Ive wanted in the past. When it came to the cut, I said fine take one inch off, and she ended up layering my hair in a weird way and going to town on the cut. She would not take instruction well and would start cutting before I finished explaining myself. It was a terrible hairstylist & client relationship. She followed me to the front desk after so I didnt feel comfortable telling them how I felt right in front of her. She said I just finished her up and we are very happy with the results. I have ugly side bangs now that I despise rather than the subtle face frame we agreed upon. I wanted to try Milk and Honey to try something new before a speaking engagement I have coming up, and I couldnt regret my decision more. I hate my hair every day.
Bad experience with a girl with short hair at front desk yesterday 6/12/23. interaction with her was unfriendly and condescending.very pretentious place.she didn’t want to answer any of my questions really. they never answer the phone, you will not get a reservation here.i do not recommend especially if you are visiting from nyc.
I found Krystal and the first experience was fantastic. Ive been with her for over a year, and after my my service a couple of days ago, I once again feel compelled to sing her praises. Its not easy to continually impress and she does just that. Her attention to detail, and fresh thinking is always leaving me with great color and shape that is easy to repeat and maintain. Thanks Krystal!! She is at the Great Hills Location.
A nice relaxing retreat in the heart of downtown. The steam shower is a nice touch. I wish they used more pressure in the foot massage for the pedicure. The body brush is a nice add on for a massage, plus you get to keep the brush. Though the standalone body brush treatment is a lot more thorough. Overall a great spa experience.
What an amazing experience my daughter and I had visiting Milk + Honey for a spa day. We couldn’t stop comparing notes about how relaxing and wonderful our treatments were. Our therapists were amazing! They carefullly explained the products used and offered suggestions. We left glowing from our facials, relaxed and soothed from our massages and ready for the rest of our day with our mani/pedis. The spa is beautifully appointed and the staff is friendly and helpful. Thank you Milk + Honey!
Natalie was awesome! She was super sweet and made sure I got what I asked for, I love my new hair color! Thanks so much Milk&Honey!
I love Milk & Honey. I love the facials, the massages, the blow-outs. I go to the downtown location and the convenience of parking at City Hall or valet at the W and plan a snack and cocktail after is ideal. The products are also amazing - the ones they carry and the Milk and Honey brand. Plus the customer service is outstanding, such a good place to be.
Full of amenities! There are 3 steam rooms where you can also wash your hair; toiletries including creams, pins, and towels; and light healthy snacks. My massage was deep tissue and, to make sure the loose feeling lasted, my therapist gave me a list of stretches to do afterwards. She was kind and and each therapist smiled as they walked past.I scheduled amongst the last people and even though they were closed by the time I finished, I wasnt rushed to leave.
This place is amazing. Well, once you get checked in.The entry is usually pretty packed, so you have the chance to get nice and stressed out in there before being taken away to a spa wonderland.Their waiting room (once you get checked in and robed up) is nice and has delicious tea. I had the signature facial which was great, and then a manicure which was really top-quality and reasonably priced ($35).Will return.
I am new to the area and saw Milk & Honey and I had to stop by. I absolutely loved the amazing, professional, and friendly service I was shown as soon as I stepped in the door! This place is top notch, totally worth a visit. Im going for my second visit tomorrow, ultrasonic facial then hair color and cut with Amber. I feel beautiful already! :)
Massage was fantastic. The 1 star is for the customer service staff. To charge a client full price for a manicure, when I only received half the service, is appalling. Yes I was ten mins late. To be clear, I was 10 mins late coming from another service in the same spa. Not exactly the customers fault. The sheer lack of common sense and customer appreciation was ridiculous. Youre better off anywhere else for the $$$$$$ youll spend.
Ive had several hour long massages & pedicures at their downtown location and cannot say enough positive things about this place. The entire atmosphere is lovely, calm, and relaxing. An incredible zen like jewel amidst the crazy busy downtown surroundings!
My color with Jordan was amazing. I had a horrible experience with the first salon I went to for highlights and she fixed it. She was really nice, professional, and worked fast. Her attention to detail was amazing. Highly recommend her!
If you have ANY reason to go here, please do it. I frequently get my brows done here and it is always an uplifting environment. I love love love milk and honey. I have also had my hair cut and styled here, and it is also where I had my make-up done for graduation photos!! Truly my favorite.
I was in downtown Austin about two weeks ago during SXSW and decided to get my first ever massage (never had one in my life), especially with all of the walking involved downtown during the festival. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and I thought Kenda did a great job of keeping me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated for the rest of the day. If Im in Austin again, Ill definitely be paying milk + honey another visit!
Zero stars. Absolutely worst ‘spa’ experience I’ve ever had. Spent less at other spas and received waaaay better service. They rushed my mani and downgraded me to a regular mani from a lux mani pedi combo because they didn’t have time to accommodate the rest of my treatment due to me asking for French on JUST my hands. So got just a mani (poor girl who was the only apologetic one and probably the only decent part of the whole experience, got rushed into everything bc staff didn’t know how to space appointments appropriately), left with no pedi, oh and my facial lasted a little over 30 minutes when I signed up for 60 minutes. Asked for an additional service of waxing my eyebrows and got completely ignored. Oh and also I spent 4 hours there for 2 services that were not even complete and both under an hour each, just wondering how that happened? So for all the trouble I got a free basic pedi, since it felt like I was the biggest inconvenience there instead of a paying customer. Not to mention my first and definite LAST time to go to a place this ridiculously terrible. Don’t even think that free pedi is even worth all the trouble and time lost today. Wish I could really get my money back. Thanks Milk and Honey for making my pre-wedding pampering the worst experience you could possibly imagine.- A very disappointed bride who will make sure none of her friends ever spend their money there.
Will be in Austin for the weekend and called to schedule an appointment for the 120 minute massage couples message. TERRIBLE customer service. Tried to sell me two individual massages instead of a couples package, which would end up being about $175 more, because they couldnt accommodate us both for a couples massage in one appointment slot, but could accommodate us separately for appointments both at 11am. 🤔 She told me the only other thing she could offer me was a 30 minutes couples massage for 8:45pm, but a surcharge would be added for them having to stay past their 9pm closing time to finish the massage. Not the way to get business.
Missed my massage appointment because I was trapped in my Fairmont hotel bathroom with no phone for over an hour! I realize this is not Milk + Honeys fault but how can you possibly feel justified in charging a repeat customer for not showing? This is obviously a rare occurrence and should be treated as such with more understanding. Will never return.
Katherine and Amber are the best and very professional!!! I & my GF had our couple massage on our trip to Austin. Was thinking of getting ourselves relax before going back to Dallas. It was one of the best we have ever been too! Calm and relaxing environment. Towels, slippers and even shower are prepared as well as caring and professional staffs. Veeeery recommended!!! We will try their branch in Fort Worth next time!!!
Friendly and informative staff. Clean facilities, warm and inviting lounge area, and great therapists. Walls are a little thin so if your therapists room is close to the lounge area you can hear other clients conversations. As far as professionalism and massages go it was amazing and one of the best places Ive found so far in Austin.
My daughter went in for a cut at 9pm. I was shocked that they were open so late on a Saturday. The place is beautiful with a great concept of organics and natural products. However, my daughter was trying a new dew and the cut was a little misshapen. She didnt notice so as long as she was happy. I think it was the freshness of going from mid back to a cut right above the neckline so she was just relieved to not have all the hair to deal with anymore.
I was coming to Austin for a big event and was only here for one night. I made an appointment online for 4pm. Jen called me from the salon to say they wanted me to come in at 3:15. I told her I would try but that I had a nail appointment at 2pm and wasn’t sure I could be there by 3:15. She said that this was ok and I should be fine. My appointment was over at 3:17 and started literally running the street to the salon when they called me and told me since I was late they had cancelled my appointment.
If youre reading reviews and trying to figure out if milk + honey spa actually IS the best spa in Austin, read no further--youve found it. What makes milk + honey stand out from other spas is the people. Its the first time Ive been to a spa and felt that the experts were approachable enough to ask for advice and recommendations. I was not only happy with my service, but also left with a product and action plan to improve my skin. Any time I need a treat, I know where to go!
The staff here is amazing. Super accommodating for my last minute request. Took great care to pamper and spoil us rotten. Had the hydrafacial and I do not think I can go back to regular microderm ever again. If I am ever in Austin again, I will definitely make an appointment here!
This was an awesome experience start to finish. The products used were lovely and aromatic. I saw Natasha for a haircut. She is a skilled stylist, confident and pleasant. I am extremely satisfied with the result. Finally, a great haircut!
I have had the best haircuts of my life since coming here...the Arboretum location is good too. Stylists always want to straighten my hair after styling (which I hate), so it was SO refreshing to have a stylist actually pay attention to what my hair naturally does and help me leave the salon feeling like myself!
Came here for a day of relaxation full body massage, facial, and a manicure/pedicure. Everyone was so sweet and friendly I never felt rushed or bothersome when I asked questions. Alex is by far the reason for 5 stars wonderful customer service...mimosas...attention to details and engaging conversation :)
Milk + Honey is the worst place that I’ve had in Austin. The service is horrible and bad communication. The first experience was that I arrived for to make my nails and no one couldn’t see me on the time, the lady just left and nobody told me. The second experience was the poor nails service. She just cleaned and painted my fingernails, the girl didn’t took of my cuticles. I went there because I received a gift card. I asked them to give me the money back and they promised me that they will refund me, a few days past and I didn’t received the money. I asked them about it and now all the time they say something different and they don’t want to refund me. I am not interested to go back in that place because I don’t know if the next time someone will show up to see me or if the service will be ridiculous again. If I could give zero star I would.
Highly recommend Katherine.S for a signature massage, she was fantastic! I also want to give a shout out to the Milk & Honey team. I really appreciated the precautions that were taken to ensure both staff and guests are protected against COVID as best as possible.
Claire is amazing. I came in for a signature facial for my birthday and she helped make my day so special.I felt listened to, pampered, and educated. The entire staff is always so good to me, but I felt especially taken care of on my birthday. Thanks, everyone! I’ll be back soon!
Went today for first time to get eyebrows done with Heather and shes fantastic very personable friendly didnt take out too much because I have thick eyebrows so I dont like them thinned out. Will certainly visit her next time I am in town was very well taken care of so go see her if feeling like its time for some nice clean shaped brows.
I booked a massage for my birthday. I travelled 200+ miles to Austin and seeked out this Spa that had great service. I had technical issues with the website but called the next day and explained my issue and I had a appointment made. Upon asking for my email the person repeated doctor as it was part of my email address. I reply correct and she asked her covid question and I answered truthfully. She never said to me that despite being fully garbed in my PPE that my services would be denied. (I mean head covered, face mask, gown, gloves, boot covering, and face shield.) Today,1-14-21, I showed up for my appointment and was turned away. I know this is your right but If I had known this would be the case, I would have seek services elsewhere.I’m disappointed, firstly because I planned my birthday activities around my 1 1/2 hour massage and secondly because as a stressed healthcare provider, nah as a stressed hard working doctor, I deserve some (wanted) some R&R.Better communication would have helped!!Disappointed in Austin.Btw: You got 2 stars cause your services appears to be amazing and the young lady who helped me was very nice.
Skyler completely destroyed my boyfriends hair, didn’t even cut, and left it purple and yellow. He was there for over 2 hours. Charged him 200$ (mind you his hair is only a few inches long on the sides and a bit longer just on the top) and told him to come in the following day for a ‘complimentary’ redo to fry his hair all over again. Let’s not forget to mention that he’d have to pay for the haircut she never did after everything. If you don’t know how to do something, don’t proceed to act like you do. Do yourself a favour and put the scissors down, save the client from complete and total disappointment. Oh yea! And wasting their time the first time and having them reschedule for a second time.Giving them even one star makes me sick to my stomach. Choose wisely people. Over priced. Over confident.
Facials with Kellie are the best. She’s highly educated and made everything super fun and recommended plenty of products/tips for my skincare routine
These Spas are incredible very nice place to get a moment to relax and enjoy your time. They have the best staff and affordable prices.
Lovely place to spend a few hours while in Austin! Amazingly kind staff that is happy to help you with any need that arises. If you have the choice, robe up from the very beginning of your session. Loved every person that I worked with while there. They carry OSEA products which are also amazing!
I first visited milk+honey back in 2007 and I have been going there ever since. Ive seen someone in every department and have never had anything less than top notch service. I especially love the new location. They did a wonderful job of creating a quiet space in the middle of a downtown that seems to grow busier by the day. I highly recommend it.
I had a very pleasant and relaxing experience for my luxe mani + pedi. Rosalinda is a great nail tech; she gave amazing massages + color application while practically listening to my life story. I would recommend their services.
Earlier this week, I went to Milk and Honey for a color correction. My stylist was great, she was friendly and did exactly what I wanted. My one star rating is due to the pricing. I was initially quoted $180 for my treatment, but end up being charged $300. I was pretty taken aback by this since I was being charged a whopping $120 more than what I was originally quoted. I feel that what I was charged was extremely unfair because $120 more is not a reasonable margin of error for this type of estimate. I hope my review serves as a fair warning to potential customers that this company will mislead you in order to take more hard earned money out of your pocket.
If you want the best lash extension in Austin, TX ask for JEN! She is a unicorn of the lash artist world. Believe me when I tell you I have had lashes by several people at different businesses and no one can touch her skill level! If you care about quality, professionalism, and perfection then she is your girl. Shes done my lashes for the last year and everyone compliments me on them and do not wustion the authenticity...she is that good! She is also an expert in skin care and Ive never had a better eyebrow wax either!
I was looking so forward to my mani pedi today, using a gift certificate from a good friend. As it turns out, the experience fell far short of my expectations. Instead of being the best mani pedi Ive ever had, cuz it certainly was the most expensive, it was mediocre. A technician trimmed my nails and cuticles and then applied polish. I would have expected at least some lotion to be put on my hands. The pedicure was better with exfoliating and a light massage in addition to caring for the nails and adding polish. But again it was not as good as the one I had at Gilt, which cost less and also included a paraffin dip. Cant wait to go back to Gilt!
Best deep tissue massage Ive ever had. My masseuse was Terri, and she was incredible! Highly recommend this place, and despite it being in hte middle of downtown, it is an incredibly relaxing experience! You forget you are in the middle of a city!
I have been going to the downtown location for about 6 years. The scheduling and front desk staff is always friendly and accommodating. While I have always had very nice massage therapists there, I must say that Jemma is by far the best one ever!!! I am very picky about saying that a massage therapist is so amazing, as I have specific needs, and need someone who really understands how to target those areas and what the issue is that I explain, as well as find other areas that need work. Someone who is capable to use any level of pressure, but as I have a hard time tolerating very deep pressure because of such tight muscles, it is essential to have someone who can use enough pressure to still be effective, but at tolerable levels for me. She is so kind and accomodating to everything. I cannot say enough good things about Jemma....she is just amazing and her entire technique is absolutely superb!!! I STRONGLY recommend going to Milk and Honey for the 60, 75, or 90 minute therapeutic massage, and booking it with Jemma!!!!
Worst haircut I have ever had. Hair dye job was also terrible. I had to go two days later for a super short haircut to fix the mess I was left with. I am so disgusted and think I should have a total refund.
Thea Pierce has been doing my cut/color at Milk and Honey for two years. I couldnt be happier with her work and recommend her to everyone! I had been to a couple different salons when I moved to Austin and wasnt satisfied until I found Thea.
Sky once again gave me an incredible massage! He has definitively given me the absolute best massage of my life and I can’t wait to book another appointment!
At first I didn’t get the hair color I wanted but they let me come back free of charge for a fix and now I’m in love with my hair color thank you :)
Saw a sign outside on the sidewalk about openings today, booked my appointment online (wicked easy website to navigate - I hate talking on the phone), and got a quality haircut at a luxury salon for a fair price considering it’s downtown! :)Great service, awesome staff, and a very clean place overall!
The locker rooms in themselves deserve 5 stars. Steam shower is cool although I didnt feel like actually going in it. Everything is really clean and the staff is super professional. Parking is the only headache
I came here for a half-updo and makeup for a black tie event, and Taryn did an amazing job. I didnt know exactly what hairstyle I wanted, so I brought in a few inspiration photos. From there, Taryn made suggestions, tried a couple of options, and ultimately gave me a perfect braided crown and natural curls that held all evening and even survived a full-nights sleep. Makeup is challenging for me because I dont usually wear any, so even a small amount looks garish to me. But Taryn listened to my concerns and gave me a perfect toned-down-but-still-glamorous face, with exactly the cats-eye, liner-driven look I wanted. I could not have been in better hands!

Milk and Honey downtown is my favorite spot for pedicures. Rhonda at the front desk is AMAZING! She remembers all clients, and she gives everyone personal attention. All of the nail techs are wonderful!
I have never posted a negative review in my life. It goes against the way in which I choose to spend my energy, which is in more positive and energetically affirming directions. But today, I feel called to use my voice an am grateful for this avenue. If you have had a cold in the past 2 weeks, do not book a massage here because you will be kicked out, even if you are already on the massage table, even though there is nothing anywhere on their website or intake screening about this supposed policy.I have been to milk and honey a handful of times and was excited to use a gift certificate for a massage after a very stressful week in which my son had been sick early in the week. I was in the room with the therapist about to get on the table as we were talking about what brought me in that day. I mentioned to her that Id had a stressful week with my son. I was 5 days into a cold and was looking for relaxation. She proceeded to tell me that they dont recommend massage when people are sick bc it spreads the infection into their system. I told her I wasnt worried about that bc I wasnt sick at all, it was merely a cold, and very much on the back end. She went into how they dont work with people when they are sick. I explained once again, that I wasnt sick. I never had a fever. And I simply had a cold 5 days ago that I was on the back end of. She then said something about a 2 week window and that they ask people to have not had a cold for 2 weeks! I asked if this is on their website and clearly asked of every single person who books bc surely at least 20% of everyone they see in the winter, will be somewhere in the vicinity of a 2 week cold. The manager gave me the same story. When I asked her to show me where on the website this policy is stated, she pointed me to something on the very bottom about open wounds, but with zero mention of colds or any other ailments. She said we ask that our employees are not sick and we ask the same of our clients. I reminded her that I was not sick but was on the back end of a cold. And again reminded her that actually they do not ask the same of their clients because it was never asked of me and nowhere on their site is this stated, nor in their screening process.I work in wellness and helped open and run a wellness center 12 years ago, in which 30% of our business was for massages. People came to us in order to actually feel better and yes some of these people had colds or other ailments and our role was to help them heal and feel their best.I understand if Milk and Honey has a different reason for being, and a different policy, but rather than take someone through making plans, taking an uber, geting undressed, into a robe, into the dim massage room, and then telling them they cant get a massage, need to get dressed, be re-booked and take their uber home....if this is going to be the policy, it needs to be fairly and uniformly applied across the board and up front with everyone. And if the policy is that no one who has had a cold in the past 2 weeks can book a massage, then get ready for a big drop in biz.
I think M&H runs expensive for what it is. This was my first time getting a haircut there and the stylist was really new and I think the cut reflects it (not horrible but a bit choppy on places).
Wonderful visit every time I visit Austin. I have been to Austin for vacations and I always book a spa day for myself. I most recently visited the Hill Country location and had a wonderful massage and mani/pedi. I have also had a wonderful haircut @ the 2nd Street district location. When I arrived home, I got a thank you card in the mail from my manicurist and thought it was the sweetest thing :) Cant wait to go back.
My massage with Katherine S, was amazing! Maybe the best massage ever! She’s one of the only massage therapists who actual listened to exactly what I wanted and did it and didn’t just do her own thing! Can’t wait to go back!
Gaia was wonderful help over the phone. Am looking forward to doing business with your spa! Ive heard great things about BBL.
Taryn was awesome and totally captured the beach wave cut I was going for. Ill be seeing her again in one week for my color! I would recommend anyone to go here. Everyone was friendly and it was a cute atmosphere.
The relaxation room was over crowded. People were on phones and loud. Dont go if youre pregnant in your first trimester. They said their policy is that they cant give massages to anyone before 16 weeks.
Yesterday evening I was given an opportunity for a last-minute first-time Swedish massage for 90 minutes. The more that I spoke with the lovely woman on the phone the more excited I became to being there--until I heard that the location was r downtown (of which I hate to go).I changed into their spa robe and flip flops and went inside the more inner chamber--pre-waiting area and down-time area post massages. I barely had more than a minute to complete my form and Alma F. came out and over to introduce me and STRONGLY shook my hand to welcome me then guided me into my designated room. I was shown into the couples room; two massage tables with a cabinet and sink area with muted light; the music was REALLY loud and quickly asked her to kindly turn it down, which she kind of surprisingly did. We chatted about all my issues and then I asked if I could lie on the other bed farther from the pocket door. She asked why, and I said it would be quieter; she said it really would not be so I trusted her. It later turned out to truly be an issue. I believe now that the music was louder for a reason; the entire time that I was there I could here periodic talking not soft mumbling and footsteps clearly going up or down stairs SOMEWHERE. The table was very comfortable but I also wanted to be farther away from the lamp that illuminated the entire large room. The second she first began touching my skin, I noticed something out of character. I began to think about it and realized that her hands had some kind of roughness or calluses on her palms. This entire massage I was worked on with rough hands but very smooth elbows; I actually couldnt believe it. I liked the extra hot towels on my lower back and feet, however, Almas techniques can be improved. Each time she brought over hot towels or a tool that she needed, I noticed shed literally let them PLUNK down on my table. I could feel it and it disturbed me.This occurred a number of times and I didnt appreciate it at all. She needs to learn more finesse overall. Further, the floors were tile; Alma sat on this low rattling stool; rolling over the tiles was very loud, and disrupting. Her massage techniques were good, however, we had an in-depth conversation about all of my bodys issues over the years. I guess she has been so accustomed to those who require and seek deep tissue massages that she inherently and naturally works in that way. I gently corrected her often and she tried very hard to comply. I also noticed that she worked fast; she rubbed quickly and that bothered me enough that I had to gently correct her again and when she massaged in surgical areas or reach trigger points, I flinched; I flinched quite a few times and corrected her again. Alma, I believe is not very well suited for specific and complex kinds of pain issues. At any rate, she was at the end of her time period, I sensed, and thought she would gradually cadence to a close. But she rather quickly just sort of--stopped... I was a little stunned and disappointed again. At the beginning she had made a rather confusing statement that she had a break after me, perhaps she was implying to hurry a little so she could go to it, as to why she ended so abruptly. So I arose from the table only to be greeted with ugly wet towels simply tossed willy nilly into the sink right in front of me--how uncouth. I toweled off and went to fetch my clothes out of the lockers I thought were very nice and after learning them, that it was a cool safe-type code system--no key to manage. I took my clothes and shoes and headed into the second bathroom to change and I immediately smelled urine! Yuck! To smell urine on a floor where men could have been (or little boys) is one thing, but for the ladies restroom, is totally unacceptable! I quickly put on my own shoes. I went to dry my hair and there was no deodorant! Outrageous; unfortunately, must give 2 stars and will not go back.
Low point of an Amazing Austin Visit. Our hotel down the street recommended this place. Wife went ahead with our 4yr old and was refused service (oh, you have your “kids”) I walked over (prior to appointment time) and sat in the lobby with our two daughters. Wife was then walked back and told “you’ve been pushed back because of your kids”....wait it gets worse...I then asked to use the restroom and was told: “sorry that’s the locker room and it’s for patrons only”. Sadly the young lady saying this was downright condescending and nasty, looking at us like we were diseased...when I asked “you don’t have restrooms available to customers, she again said no...that I should try the cafe around the corner, and walked away. Another employee heard and said we could use the bathroom insiste the salon. At this point my wife (who overheard the back half of the conversation) decided to cancel her appointment and leave. For a city as progressive and accepting as Austin, this place does not fit in. The employees are the face of the company and if this is the way you treat customers, it’s a direct representation of the owners/leadership. Good luck!UPDATE: my wife received a message telling her...”our policy around children and bathroom use are meant for the safety of your children’s safety and comfort of our customers”
Amazing massage and spa- I recently underwent a joint surgery and the masseuse worked with me during the whole 15 minutes it took me to get situated, helped work around the area, and was really nice when I had to adjust several times throughout. I was super worried- clearly for no reason now- and Im really happy with how it all worked out :)
Great facial, ambience, and oasis to recharge your spirit.
Highly recommend David for a fabulous blowout! He did an amazing job, was so sweet, and all around wonderful! Thank you David! ♥️
Very welcoming team, beautiful space, and peaceful experience. Gretchen was so kind and informative. Helped me book my first hydrafacial (highly recommend) with Krissy, who is an absolute gem.
When we could afford it (AKA Pre-child), my wife and I would come do their Valentines Day Couple specials here every year. Massage, facial, mani/pedi. Very attentive and polite staff. The atmosphere is incredibly calm and soothing. As someone who works with computers and then comes home and gets on a computer, asking the masseuse to focus on your hands can be a game changer! Seriously, my hands and fingers would feels like new limbs for months after a visit.
Nothing bad to say here. As great as the other M&H locations and I highly recommend them. Polished and professional - any way that you go service-wise you will probably have an enjoyable experience. I myself particularly like their manis.
Chance does such a great job with the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of his massages. His work with fascia is on the cutting edge of fitness/anti aging. I get lasting results from every session. Excellent.
