Bars service is amazing and quick. Lights on the dance floor are the best in Austin! Make sure you hit up Bobby’s bar; he’ll take care of you!
The drinks are good, deeply poured, the service is excellent, the people are fabulous, and it’s just a good, all-around fun bar.
Party was good until I noticed that someone stole my wallet, workers and security guards didn’t do anything to help you, even they said that is normal that this things happen there. Is sad all the comments about robbing inside.
The rude behavior of the guy (with long black hair) who uses the metal detector made me give up on entering the place. He treated a lady very badly who didnt understand English very well. He yelled at her a lot and she wasnt deaf. She just needed a little more kindness to understand what he needed at the moment. Frustrated customers suffered uncomfortable searches, causing a tense atmosphere at the entrance. I didnt even go in because of the discomfort it caused me.The other guy, who was asking people to remove everything to their pockets didnt do anything. He should have said something to help the lady. I hope she never goes back there. (I wouldnt).Bad first impression.1 star is too much for this place.
This club is great other than the new GM Jeremy. He’s incredibly rude and unfriendly. What happened to Scott?
Honestly if I could do 0 I would. Rain used to be such an inclusive place but recently it feels they have hired a lot of negative bartenders.Today I was attacked by a bartender out of nowhere. I wish I would have asked his name but I didn’t because I and everyone else was so shocked by his behavior.I came in with a fan that I absolutely did clack. I clacked it twice. Once when I entered the building and once to hype a friend. Probably twice within an hour and maybe for a minute each time. Annoying? Maybe. Hype? Absolutely! For sakes they sell them on 4th!The bartender came up to me out of nowhere when I was just talking to my friends. Fan no where in my reach. To tell me how annoying and disruptive I was. Not kicking me out or telling me to leave. But just attacking my character. He then turned and gathered the bar to cheer and clap for him. Making me feel so belittled and embarrassed. Which was ultimately his intentionI work in social media with other customers so I do not write this review lightly. I understand it’s a bar and there are alcoholic drinks. But for people to feel embarrassed and excluded in a place that is supposed to be a safe haven it’s just unacceptable. My hope is that the managers and owners teach their employees to be tolerant and accepting. No matter the situation. Even if I was “disruptive” I shouldn’t have felt so secluded and embarrassed by the entire bar.Bottom line, if you’re looking for a bar that is inclusive of all there are plenty of other bars on fourth.
The gays that work at this bar are perfect examples of why people hate and discriminate against us as LGBTQ+ people. They are rude and think they are better than everybody. Whoever the clown was working the door yesterday (Thursday night Feb 1) was disgustingly rude to everybody in line. I literally watched people walk away just after speaking to him because he gave such bad vibes. This guy was dressed like he was going to the Grammys and acted like he just won one. I wish I had the confidence that this arrogant queen had. I cant imagine looking and acting more disgusting but having that sense of pride like you are better than every other person you are speaking to. We ended up going to the Iron Bear ( a much more laid back and friendly/accepting vibe with stronger drinks for a better price) and found that others had left Rain because the vibes were off. So, at least it wasnt just us/ the people in front of us in line earlier that night. I first went to Rain 8 years ago and it was a totally different feel and experience. I can tell from the lack of enthusiasm, the fact they now charge covers ,and all these reviews that the establishment has and continues to go downhill. Just go look at all the previous reviews talking about how people are robbed here, and those are just the people who took the time write a review. Ive seen Reddit threads alleging MUCH worse than just robberies at Rain. Whoever is doing the hiring/firing here, take note. The gays you are letting run this place make people hate you and turn away to other venues. You are not serving the community by letting these employees speak to customers like they are our parents. Yall can treat each other like that at your staff parties. Its only a matter of time before something absolutely horrible happens at this place that makes front page news, and when that does, Im sure everybody will come look at all these reviews and think wow. People tried to warn us.
The club is a lot of fun but unfortunately if you ask the bartender for water they’re not going to give it to. They’re going to tell you to “talk to the manager” about some policy they have against giving water? I don’t know but then they kicked me out because I was too persistent about wanting water. 0.5/10 experience overall just a below average club that happens to also kick you out if you need water too badly.
Staff have never been friendly but I LOVE this location and the music. the vibe is really good. I wish that it was in SA too. I come up just for this place. It is very safe as well.
Rain used to be really fun, but over the last two years it has gone down the toilet. It’s a gay bar in name only…more accurately, it’s a “white straight girl” bar. They recently starting charging cover, which a really obvious sign business is going poorly. If the owners had not allowed “wooooo” bachelorette parties to take over, they probably would have maintained their business and former clientele. Good luck to them, there’s absolutely no reason to go any more.
***I’M POSTING THIS FOR OTHER PEOPLE’S AWARENESS***The club is great. Really solid spot with a good vibe and reasonably priced drinks. But beware of thieves. Someone reached into my girlfriend’s purse and stole her phone while we were on the dance floor. The staff can’t do much unless a lost item is given to them but beware that there are people here that are looking to pickpocket.
Last night, I visited Rain on 4th St Bar in Austin, Texas, with a group of 10 friends. After hours of dancing and enjoying ourselves, the evening took an unexpected turn when I was abruptly seized by an individual named Thomas Edward, purportedly an employee. He proceeded to forcibly escort me from the dance floor, offering no explanation for his actions. This incident unfolded in front of my friends and the entire establishment, transforming what was meant to be a fun night into one of the most distressing experiences of my life.Throughout the ordeal, I repeatedly sought clarification from Thomas Edward, both inside and outside the club. Once outside, he began to shout at me, instructing me to empty my pockets and questioning the number of cellphones in my possession. The accusation leveled against me was that I had attempted to steal someones cellphone, a claim for which there was no basis. Our group, comprised of 10 individuals, all of Latino/Hispanic descent, couldnt help but feel targeted and unfairly accused. In our attempt to address the situation, we engaged with General Manager Scott Perciful. Unfortunately, our interaction with him proved to be disheartening, as he displayed rudeness and visible discomfort over the mistake that had occurred. Despite our request, he refused to bring forward the person who supposedly made the complaint, offering us no resolution, no apologies, and ultimately suggesting that we leave the premises. In light of this egregious incident, I have already sought legal counsel, and we intend to press charges against both Thomas Edward and Scott Perciful. It is noteworthy that Scott himself encouraged us to pursue this course of action. From my perspective, this incident is a glaring case of discrimination, as our group was singled out based on our native languages and diverse skin colors. As a law-abiding citizen, this has been an immensely humiliating experience, and I am committed to seeking justice for the unjust treatment we endured.
Poorly dressed super queen at front door was rude. Quick to judge…should take a long hard look in mirror.
The doorman/bouncer was uncool. She checked my 30 year old sister in laws ID and tried to say it was a fake. After 20+ minutes of waiting in line they said they wouldn’t let me in. I asked why and they said “for certain reasons”. I asked them why and they said “I can’t say”. I assume it because they thought I was too intoxicated but I had only been to one bar prior. I don’t go out much so a couple drinks is more to me than the average patron. Highly wouldn’t recommend because the bouncer/doorman was extremely rude to every female identifying person in my group. -10/10 don’t recommend. Go to coconut club for a 100x better time. I am writing this as I’m at the club Nextdoor - much better vibes.
Seems like there’s an ongoing issue here with the bouncers saying people are drunk when they aren’t.Bouncer- have you had anything to drink tonight?Umm yeah.Bouncer- you can’t come in you’re drunk.I am?When you see other reviews on the same issue you realize that you, in fact, were not the problem.
My friends I went there only for a strange man to sit in a corner and take pictures of us with his flash on. When we confronted him and let the bartenders know they pointed us to the manager whose response was to throw us out for being too loud and doing nothing else about the weird man. After we were put out the manager tried to apologize and said he was overwhelmed by us complaining. The only reason Im not giving this 1-star is because the bartenders and doormen were sympathetic and very kind. Im still confused on how a wednesday night with a near empty bar the manager was overwhelmed and decided to not do anything to help make the bar a comfortable place for his patrons but I wont ever go here again
The bouncers on 06/12/2023 for pride were absolutely disrespectful and discriminatory against me because I am black. The front male person let my friends in for free but did not let me in with the group for free because I am black. I will absolutely never ever go back again, and this club will get a legal formal complaint from me for discrimination.
Rain is a staple on 4th st. Every bartender has been nothing but kind and pleasant to me. The door staff have been awesome and helped answer any questions about new policies (wanding down people, etc.). Never had a bad experience. The bar and its staff are fair if you act like a fool and break the rules you’re asked to leave, just like any other place.
There was a staff member this evening wearing a green hat with a smiley face that was exceedingly rude. Id followed a friend into a bathroom stall to help with a personal emergency and this staff member immediately screamed at us about keeping one person to a stall. This immediate escalation is especially upsetting considering that so many in the LGBT communities have trauma in their past. They then yelled again at this same person not five minutes later for standing by a corner, waiting for me. We can understand enforcing rules, but this type of communication is not acceptable and quite concerning. Theres a correct, fair, polite and non-triggering way to communicate.
I had a truly wonderful experience here. My femme friend and I had a horrible experience with a man who was being inappropriate with women - I reported this man to our amazing bartender Justin, and immediately he respected our experience and called security. Brandon, on security showed up within seconds and asked me to point this person out. I did, and immediately he was asked to leave (and did). That my experience was taken seriously and treated with respect was refreshing and turned a negative moment into a positive one.Thank you, Rain staff for upholding a safe space for all.
I do not understand why the door staff has to make people feel so uncomfortable. Every time I go I have a horrible experience with the door staff. With everything going against our community I come here to find love and acceptance. Where is the love? She checks my id and says proud of you. For what? What is that supposed to even mean
Fun story. Im a 47 year old woman. Last night me and a date decided to have a walk to the 4th Street district after a large meal and two drinks (over a 2 hour time frame) at Eddie Vs.I was wearing wedges and my feet were very sore. My date helped me to step down off of the curb because my feet and my back were sore. Im also only 5 feet tall and have teeny legs. The door people were telling another couple that they were soon having karaoke and I turned to my date to say that would be fun.As soon as the couple went inside, a very young blonde girl with short hair put her hand out and said I watched you stumble across the street. You can not come in here.I was taken back for a moment because I was completely sober from my large meal and two small drinks and then a long walk. And my date has confirmed that I was in no way stumbling. Lol.But having worked the bar scene before college 20 plus years back I knew that arguing was not going to help! I stood there perplexed and said okay. I didnt try to explain that I had just had a long walk in wedges and my date helping me and my short legs step down to cross the road was not what it appeared to her. I was just polite and walked past. She was super young. I held no grudge. We approached the door to Oil Can Harrys and as we stopped, she began to stand out on the sidewalk and give a whistle signal to their door person! That was too far. Even my date mentioned that she must have some sort of personal problem with me or my appearance.I just had a house fire. And lost most of my clothes. So I had a funny but stylish t-shirt. Free People jeans and wedges. Not fancy but I did my best.Young lady, dont mistake my kindness for weakness. Im approaching 50. I had a large meal and a long walk. Then you watched what a person my age looks like being assisted to step down by a gentleman because at this age.... Heals hurt. I was nice because you looked like my daughter. And you seemed so sure of my intoxication depute my sober demeanor. Lack of arguing. And kindness while you treated me like a drunk. I was sober as a judge. I can say that.... I used to work as an investigator before my body gave out.
Absolutely love the bouncers here. 100% caring and kind individuals. I was waiting for my Uber when my friend left and waited next to them. We got to talking about the craziness going on downtown/ at Rainey lately and one of them went inside and offered me a pepper spray since I didnt have one. The fact that they simply cared for the safety of a random person speaks volumes!! Love this place and the people in it sm ❤️
I’ve been to the bar many times before, so this isn’t my first rodeo. Went to the bar to order a vodka tonic and they cheated me of my drink. I saw the bar tender get the bottle of vodka and tip it in my cup simultaneously and immediately put the tonic into my drink (which we all know the tonic and fountain thing releases liquid faster than the liquor bottle.). I feel like I didn’t get what I paid for. My drink literally tasted like tonic and not vodka in it. I came to rain, sober. Ordered a second drink and saw the same happen. Just wanted to let you know of my experience.
I was having a great time until someone on the staff decided I was “too drunk”, I slipped on a drink by accident and was kicked out for it. Also, I want to mention that the employees here are racist, won’t be coming back ever.
The club is fine, in the sense that I havent encountered anything dodgy. However, it has a weird setup for the dancefloor and its too lit, at least compared to clubs in Europe. Music is very bad, too many songs you cant dance on. If you have a look on Grindr before coming youll be disappointed by the reality. About half the patrons are men, many couples, not really a hook up place (the men are also quite shy; not the women tho, they push and bump like theyve skipped the good manners lessons in their childhood).
I was there last night 3/30/2024 and it was pretty cool vibes! 🤘😎
Wednesday night July 5th 2023 going into Thursday July 6th 2023 we came to Rain this gay bar never been here before with another person we are from out of town we were coming from the gay bar next door and were walking over next to Rain the door staff looks at me while I walked up to the entrance and the first thing they say to me is you looked like you were stumbling while walking over here you look intoxicated is Rain the gay bar the new Austin Police Department?? Performing sobriety, test! before we let you in we are gonna do a sobriety test to make sure your not intoxicated I said I haven’t had any alcohol or even one drink tonight yet so I’m clearly sober they respond with oh really you haven’t had anything to drink? Nope absolutely not so they then say we’ll can you hold out your arms and walk straight on a line with my head up so I did and I obviously passed then they had me empty my pockets then scanned me down with a wand to check for any kind of metals I understand scanning for metals and emptying my pockets but assuming I’m intoxicated when I’m not and haven’t had anything to drink is ridiculous the door staff had no compassion for myself or anyone else definitely do not see myself coming back to Rain or bringing anyone else and not referring anyone to this establishment all it takes is a word of mouth and a bad reputation which was displayed on tonight by your front door staff employees do better Rain in Austin because this will make you lose business going forward and if it continues it will stay that way you’re suppose to be gay club supporting the LGBTQ community not a straight homophobic bar disowning you’re own people who are apart of the community we don’t just come to support your bar for no reason and since it was our first time here too that’s a terrible first impression great job Rain!….. also the person I was with they didn’t tell him he was stumbling or intoxicated just myself they just had him empty his pockets and use there handy-dandy magical gay wand to check for metals it’s just so wrong and discriminatory against certain people who only want to have fun and enjoy your establishment no longer
I had a fun time until I didnt. I had my phone and wallet stolen out of my purse last night. At the end of the night, two other people had their phones stolen too.
During my visit to this bar, I was disheartened by the encounter. The employees and managers displayed a discourteous attitude, which created an inhospitable environment. Additionally, the beverages were expensive and lacked quality. The bars cleanliness and appearance were unsatisfactory, further diminishing the overall enjoyment.
This club is a blast. Great music, strong drinks, a nice big dance floor, and a really good mix of clientele. The bar is separated into some very cool areas to hang out.On a different note, we were VERY impressed with security. There was a girl on the dance floor who was very drunk and started yelling at one of my friends because his arm brushed against her while we are all dancing on the packed dance floor. We tried to explain that it’s hard to not brush against people when it’s that crowded and then she pushed him as hard as she could. Security was amazing and quickly ushered her out, apologizing for the situation. This might seem like a strange thing to post about, but gay bars are a safe space, and when the staff puts that above making money, it means a lot.We will definitely be back to Rain when we visit Austin again.
Meh. More women than men. Also so bright that it’s more like a Restaraunt than a bar. Even on the dance floor. We lasted 30 minutes.
The reviews warning about getting pickpocketed here are true. When I was here last, my phone was stolen from my pocket, and when I told the front door person, bartenders, and bouncer what happened minutes after, they didnt make any move to help or even pretend to care. When I called the next day, it went straight to a voicemail instructing callers to email the venue if theyre looking for a lost item. No other option. And, of course, no one ever emailed me back. Definitely seems like theft is a normal part of the Rain-on-4th experience and that the staff is maybe even in on it. If youre looking for a fun place to dance and drink, go literally anywhere else. But, if you somehow unfortunately find yourself at Rain, make sure that your phone is backed up and that you have theft insurance so you can get a quick replacement when it gets stolen.
When into Rain when our bike bar stopped nearby. Walked in and from the get-go, the bartender seemed to be very judgmental. My bridesmaids crew was trying to make a Tik-Tok off to the side in the back by the dance floor which nobody was at, and the bartender came around and told us that we shouldn’t waste their napkins when we had only gotten 4 napkins and we were using them. I’m not sure what the problem was for us being there but even when we ordered drinks, he definitely wasn’t friendly. Will not be going back at all.
I used to love coming here. Bartender was so sweet and suggested amazing new shots. BUT the DJ for karaoke night was so degrading. Told my friend and I I we would have to perform sexual acts on him later. Joking or not, it’s disrespectful. You have no idea what each individual people have been through. He should be held accountable. Distasteful and degrading. Most importantly hurtful. Wish he would have been more thoughful over his word choice. I went there having a great time with my friends and left in tears feeling so disrespected. As a woman, I feel more comfortable going to a gay bar, but I felt violated. Bartenders are super hard working and sweet. But dj crossed boundaries. Very disappointing
I have been to Rain on 4th many times while visiting Austin in the past and have made many great memories there, however I do want to make my last experience known. On December 30, me and a small group of friends kept with our New Years tradition and we visited Rain around midnight. We had just arrived arrived and bought a drink(the bartender was awesome) and when we got to the dance floor, we started singing and dancing to the music, as we should in a dance bar. After a short time on the floor, I noticed a gentlemen going around to other groups on the dance floor and either aggressively shouting at them or removing members of the group from the bar. I understand on occasion this is necessary, however when the gentleman reached the group I was with, he told us, very aggressively, that we need to keep our volume down and that we shouldnt be shouting in the bar. Obviously we were confused, so when talking to the bartender, he told us that the gentlemen was the manager. We continued to see a few other occurrences where the manager removed people from the bar for numerous reasons. One lady was dancing lower to the floor (killing it I might add) and he told her she was too drunk and had to go. One member of our group asked the manager in passing if there was a method to his madness. Since the bar was less than half full, I cant imagine why he would be removing people for singing loudly to the music they were playing or for dancing on the dance floor. I want it to be known, I have had many great memories in the past at Rain, and I hope that they can get the management together again so everyone can experience and remember Rain as it should be.
So Rain has continuously don’t this. They are charging sometimes $60 for two drinks. The old bar tenders do not do this. However, it is a practice of new bar tenders to over charge. Someone is training them poorly. I’ve been going here 10 years and I’ve never seen it this bad. Something needs to be done about this. 4 drinks of single bourbon and coke shouldn’t result in a $100 bill. It’s insanity!!!!!! This makes me not want to go into rain again! I know it’s become the bar for tourist but still, treat your long time loyal customers fairly.
Amazing atmosphere, the dance floor was crazy colorful, and the people I met were super cool. Theyve got a seating area in the front and a cool patio in the back. Theres no rules for the restroom, anyone can go into whatever restroom they want and not be judged which I thought was really sweet. Plus, for being such a packed place, it was really clean.
I am not writing this review lightly because this used to be one of my favorite places. Last night, my friends and I went to have a good time and I got double billed for 1 round and I am pretty certain that one of the bartenders/staff was in on my friend and Is phone being stolen. Both my friend and I had our phones swiped at the exact same time and we asked the staff for assistance as we had no way of getting home and presented an unsafe environment and they were too bothered over serving the patrons to be bothered to assist. Ironically several of the groups phones were also missing and we would like to think otherwise; however, we feel the staff had something to do with it. I dont like to throw accusations out there - but this is very fishy and this was the first time the staff was unkind all around. Sad, because this used to be a place where all were welcomed and treated kindly.
Music is always pretty good. Drag shows are always entertaining. Used to come here with the wife because we used to hear the best dance music in Austin playing here (we are not gay but not judgmental). The only drawback are two of the bartenders here who are not very friendly. Got tired of the dirty looks so I havent been back in two years.
I really love all the staff. All the bartenders are really cool, have been there for a while and are kind to you and making you feel welcomed.
Had a great dance party, and then froze my toes off, and instead of making us stand outside for our ride, the door person showed us kindness and allowed us to wait In the warmth. Appreciated the humanity 🩷🩷 Great music and drunks.
**ALERT** RACIST AND UNSAFE FOR BLACK PEOPLEI was called a n**ge* and attacked here by some racist pos patron. Rain kicked me out and had the police come for me even though I was attacked. only just got clear of the swarming police. This place attracts hardcore racists and they will not protect you. Even worse they will call the police potentially getting black people killed. Regardless of background, this place draws ignorance, violence, and drama. Stay away.
Everything about Rain is fun except the manager. Everyone was having a good time dancing and we were told to ‘stop screaming’ when we were Wooing for a song. Another group on the dance floor was kicked out for ‘screaming too loud’ IN A BAR!! When we confronted the manager he kicked our group out of the bar. During this he put his hands on multiple people in our group as we were walking out. This establishment should not be supported if this type of management is present.
We were taken here by an Austin local and we were SO happy they introduced us. This is the place to be! We went on a Monday night and it was POPPING with all sorts of characters and groups, but the general vibe was just get some drinks, sing some songs, and have a LOT of fun. I made a couple of new friends just by dancing with them and complimenting their fits.Bartenders are definitely working really hard to get everyone their drinks, and the wait time to get served is not that long at all. Shots they pour are also on the heavier end, so you’re definitely getting your moneys worth. They can play literally any song since they’ll just pull up the instrumental from Youtube and project it onto the wall. There is a queue to put your song in, so you might be waiting for a while. I’d recommend putting your name down for a song before you get your drinks. If you’re looking to sing multiple songs that night, also keep this queue in mind. Most singers were solo, but my partner and I chose a duo song. One mic is wireless, but the other is wired. We heard all kinds of songs that night, the most memorable being “Dicked Down in Dallas”. Suuuuper fun time, would highly recommend. I’ll definitely be coming back when I’m in town.
Great place for dancing and mingling! It is probably the most prominent dance club in the warehouse district and always really fun. The bouncers and bartenders are always super nice, plus nice to look at. The open cages are always fun to get up in too! Just beware of handsy/drunk patrons like you would for any club.
Amazing music. Thats the first thing that stands out. Went a couple nights ago, saw a drag show and then danced until 2am. I really appreciated how great the music was. Other than that the bartenders and other people in the club are all extremely nice. Fun to dance with and talk to. The drinks were pretty average and got the job done, but nothing to brag about. Overall, Ill be visiting this club again many more times.
One of the best places to dance in Austin, the vibe is great, cool umbrella ceiling, and dancers! Drinks are solid, just love coming here when it comes to dancing
We frequent this bar often. My girlfriend wasn’t feeling well and I was ok the bathroom stall with her. The security guard (Kirstin) slammed on the bathroom door repeatedly, followed us out and had an extremely aggressive demeanor towards us as we asked for our checked jacked until we left. Because Of her and this experience we will not returning to this bar.
A great club! I love taking my wife here for a good night out. Admittedly I need a few more then her before I get on the dance floor but they always have tons of bartenders. They even have a more quiet bar near the front if that is your thing.
I love this club but there was this women that keeps moving me. I dont know what she was doing but she told me to onto block her way to the bar. I mean if you arent bringing clean glasses then you shouldnt come and move me. Bartender can do their job just fine. That was just plain rude, learn some manners.
I was visiting Austin and decided to sample the queer scene. To that end, I checked out Rain, Oil Can Harrys, and Cheer Up Charlies. Of the three, Rain was definitely the most pleasant experience. Both the coat check guy and the bartender with the exposed midriff were super sweet and warm (and cute). I started with Rain then went elsewhere for an hour or so, then came back. They recognized me and didnt charge me to recheck my coat, and even compd a bottle of water for me for no reason other than to be nice. The music was good, and the crowd seemed less conceited than than the average assemblage of gay men in a bar, and of the three places I visited, it was the closest to 100% target space. If I come to Austin again, Ill definitely be back.
My wife and myself went to the club last night. Had a great time until end of the night when we went home and discovered that they charged our card. Almost double what the receipt said. They do not answer phones. Theyve got their email blocked. I would have gave him a four-star possibly five but I dont know what kind of scam their bartenders think they have going. They will be investigated by the attorney general and the TABC they have continued trying to bill her card and they have been reported to the attorney general and the TABC. I work with some of the most high-profile attorneys in the city and unfortunately most people dont know how to get things done. I do. I am working on putting them out of business for FRAUDULENT BILLING
The bar itself is pretty good, but I got my phone stolen last night from my pocket--and I was told to come back when they opened tomorrow, I just called them NINE minutes after they opened, it rang until voicemail, and then when I called again, it was busy. Same with my other friends phones. Ridiculous. Its literally NINE minutes after they opened, on a Saturday, surely they can answer the phone, instead of taking it off the hook.
Positives: big dance floor, spacious club in general and usually good music—- Negatives: Too many annoying Straight women screaming “Woo Hoo” and getting overly grabby with the dancers. Whenever there is any kind of show, it’s usually the groups of straight chicks that rudely push their way to the front as if they own the place. Go.Away.
I was reprimanded and treated like a child for dancing at my table. I had my mask on and was not near anyone else, I just chose to stand and a good song came on so I lightly danced in place where I was standing then I was asked to stop or leave. I feel like that could have been handled in a more friendly manor since I was not disruptive however the manager seemed to be upset and angry at everyone. Not entirely sure why, but it was only my 2nd time there and my last.
Being turned away at 11:30P on a Sunday for “looking too intoxicated.” because I was on the phone with my AirPods in, leaning against a wall down the road while I finished my conversation. Wish y’all the best, I’ll not be back.
This place sucks; they sell you an expensive drink at 1:55, take everything away at 2:10 without saying anything, and the security guy snatches your drinks!
Love love love rain! Never a cover and always a good time. Best music out of all the gay bars in my opinion. They actually switch the music and genres up where as the competing bars don’t. Drink prices are fair and have never had an issue with fraud.
The bartenders are just trying to suriver but the bouncers tend to be snarky but not in charming way. Once you get in just go with the flow.
Awesome! The music, people and atmosphere were on point! Drinks were expensive though, I recommend pregaming but toss out any left overs before you get there. I saw them make at least two people dump their drinks. Draws a large crowd of cool people! Also worth mentioning is their AWESOME LIGHT UP DANCE FLOOR! Its gorgeous and truly elevates your time here to An Experience! Cool lounge area! Bathrooms were kind of a mess but what could you expect? Definitely a Must Stop for Austin lgbt fun!
They kicked my girlfriend out and banned her until she’s 21 because she had a redbull on ice but didn’t tell her that she wasn’t allowed to have a drink in a glass. we were having a great time until they kicked her out all because of a rule that we didn’t know about. rain staff need to be more transparent with rules and regulations
I had been to Rain several times, and was always impressed by their welcoming attitude and hospitality during the COVID social distancing situation. However, last night, the dour-faced guy at the door (Simon), came up from behind me from the left side of the partially opened door, grabbed me by the shoulder and yelled Hold on!. No, Hello, Welcome to Rain, or Where would you like to sit. I asked to speak to a manager whereupon he showed me the We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone sign and told me to leave. Horrible attitude and service these days and I reserve the right to never go back. If youre looking to be manhandled, its the bar for you!
I swear this has happened to me twice at this bar where I pay for one drink and they charge me for almost double the price. I stopped here during pride last weekend and showed a $11 charge to my card…fair, Austin is expensive as hell right now. I didn’t close out my card (most places typically add 20-25%) and saw that my $11 charge had turned into $28! I don’t know if this place is desperate for money or what, but this is not the first time this place has been sketch.
This is Austins best gay club since Kiss & Fly closed down. I love Thursday nights as the have the Amateur Strip Contest. Many of the college boys hang out here, so theres always something to see. It seems they play the best music on Thursdays as well. The dance floor is small, but I love the lighted dance floor in the middle! Fun!
Dancers will rip you off and play it off. Beware. Fun place until I met them. Im straight and it totally ruined my experience in inclusivenessI wont trust any bar again.
So, love how Arny the bartender at Rain charges me for rainwater three times when I order three drinks and he only uses one bottle. Ive politely said something to him about it, and he acts like he didnt do it, but receipts dont lie boo. Do you treat all your customers like this or just the Black ones?
Visiting from out of town, enjoying ourselves. While dancing an employee pushes us to move because he had to come through without saying excuse me. He pushed both a guy but also a lady dancing and then when he got a reaction we were kicked out. Kind of bs... we came to this bar because we were in the area heard good things. If you want to push people expect a reaction. It was rude.
Dont even waste your time at the other bars. This Bar has everything! A light up dance floor. Super sexy couch cushions and excellent drink specials every single night! (Tuesdays are Dollar Wells!) Super friendly door staff and bar staff. Other than Barbarella on Tuesdays this place is always the place to be!Become a regular you will be glad you did!
If you want to be treated badly... from the employees at the entrance to the hateful bartenders, this is the place!!! The Worst treatment for the LGBTQ community in all of Austin!!!
Im sure this is a great club and there are some really cool attractions, like the Illuminated dance floor, HOWEVER. The bass was just too intense for me and I left.I guess if you enjoy the feeling of your organs moving around in your abdominal cavity then this is the club for you.
Me and my wife went there for my birthday and noticed today they charged me TRIPLE what they were supposed to charge its very unfortunate that they do that because I like that place but taking advantage of patrons because were only able to use a card is there is crazy. I already filed a fraudulent claim. To anyone thinking of going there be very weary of your credit card charges they have changed 1 of 3 charges to a different higher amount they will try to pull a fast one. Most likely we wont return unless they allow cash again.
This review is for the two people on the door at the end of the night last night… thank you so much for your help in getting a drunk straight man to leave us alone. It can be difficult to get people to listen sometimes, but y’all stepped in when we asked and we are all so grateful. Blessings upon blessings 🌈
Went to karaoke and if you wanted to sing. You had to know the DJ . As a DJ you should want new people to come and have a good time. It was the same people singing.Come on Rain ...You can do better. People were nice and bartenders were great.
For a club that has a light up dance floor it’d be nice if they’d lit it up. I guess I’ll just dance in the dark, it’s ok.
This place is a blast. Three separate areas - one for dancing, one for smoking and lounging, and one thats a sort-of outdoor patio area. All areas have their own bar, and there are always great dancers too!
Had an amazing night until some creep started following us around. He followed us outside as we left and attempted to start a fight. Kelsey stood with us the entire time it took for our uber to pick us up. They waited and helped keep this person away from us. AMAZING HUMAN BEING! Thank you so much, you and your team turned what could have been a really scary situation into a safe night. Thank you!!!!
Dance club in the heart of Austin’s Warehouse District (gay district). The light up dance floor and a group of the city’s best DJs make this the best place to dance downtown. An Open-minded and friendly bar staff. Cocktails served just the way to want it.
This bar is always a pleasure to visit; whether it’s for a relaxing, yet upbeat happy hour, or if you’re into the late night scene, Rain doesn’t disappoint. Thursday nights are the place to be with amateur strip off! On that note: Friday and Saturday nights are also bumpin’! Sunday Funday is always great given how big the space is with tons of patio space and a great light up dance floor. This LGBTQ+ bar is definitely a must if you’re visiting, or simply a local looking for a fun time out in The Warehouse District.
If you want to dance with 20-somethings this is your gay bar. This place is large with multiple areas. Front bar has booths and a bit quieter. Main bar has 2 stages, 2 dance blocks, and DJ booth. Outside has two bars and two separate areas for the smokers. Line moves pretty quickly and never a cover for 21+
This place was the most disappointing place. My first and last time coming here, very surprised they have not yet to get sued, for fraud. I bought 4 to 5 rounds of drinks and shots total price $215.69 and then they charged my card three more times for drinks I did not buy, in total of $164. Thinking about taking further action, as to see I am not the only one they did this to.
Bobby is awesome! Always on the lookout for his patrons, offering water when needed!
I had the best time at Rain until I saw my credit card statement where they literally charged me double what I actually owed. I’ve read previous comments that is commonly happens here. That’s fraud and plan on disputing this. Plenty of other great gay bars that aren’t going to steal your money.
I read all the reviews and was a little worried, but I went anyways because my friends wanted to meet here. They DO double charge you for drinks, like many others have said. Watch your bank statement and be careful.
Keep coming back for Bobby at the front bar. What a cutie.
Great music awesome atmosphere the light-up dance for was seriously cool met some crazy interesting people didnt drink too much but the bartenders were alright definitely worth checking out. Patio was also very cool.
Love this club! The staff are great, the music is good, and the bathrooms are really clean for a club of this size!
Music is good but a little too loud. I one to dance but the dance floor is over crowded on the weekends, but I guess thats the goal. Hang out long enough and youll eventually meet someone new to chat with.
Its a fun bar. I wouldnt give it five stars because I dont think its one of the best Ive been to, and the drinks are more expensive overall and less strong, in terms of alcohol content, compared to bars on sixth street, which isnt too far away. It seems to attract a younger crowd.
Terrible! Let me ask everyone does 2 beers and 2 Peach snaps with sprite sound like it should be $50??? No me either but yet thats what I was charged. Also to the little boy in blue make sure you serve everyone not just the white customers I shouldnt have to whistle to get your attention
Great place to dance. If youre into cages, this is the places. Sharpen up your stripper pole skills and show them off here! Gay or straight, youll have a great time.
I love Rain! The DJ’s are awesome, great dance floor, good drinks and staff is on point. My favorite dance club❤️
Gorgeous venue. Friendly bartender. We’re from out of town, so either we’re too shy or the general crowd seems a bit closed off. But I would come again to put ourselves out there.
Friday night was LIT with DJ Dallas...drinks nice and strong, prompt service. Now, shorty with the rainbow shorts handling exit traffic at the door has a salty tude he may want to revise. Lucky for me, I dont get anyone Rain on my parade (get it?)
To celebrate pride month in Austin you should visit rain! It is my favorite Gay club in Austin! Its always lit and has great music! The patio is always convenient too to talk to people and make friends ! So much better than grindr 😂😂. The bathrooms are a bit small but hey the floor is plentiful!! I really love this place, and the staff! Seriously 4th street is way better than 6th! But I might be biased since Im Gay 🤷🏼♂️. Come experience it for yourself!
Absolutely love the back patio and nice place to just relax and show the dance clubs and drag shows are freaking amazing and out of this world I love all the performers and the bars are absolutely swilling with great drinks and great cocktail makers and great bartenders all out great experience my opinion when coming down here and enjoying the weekend when Im not working all out one of my favorite experiences on forth
This place is very small. It is filled with a bunch of stuck up twinks. The staff is nice just the enviorment is kinda pretentious. i do like the bartenders they make some of the best drinks. i would reccomend going to this place during a happy hour and its alot of fun .
Great venue ... a little network of rooms, and outdoor space . Great dancefloor in the main area. Drinks seem to be normal priced foe the USA. Even on Sunday it was fun.
This place was a good time, although we did have a tough time getting drinks - they seemed understaffed. They have a large dance floor and good music. I would go back.
Bobby Cook is an amazing bartender!! Try one of those espresso martinis. They are the bomb!!
Great shows, sable cities is an amazing host, love all the local queens and other shows. Good/well mixed average priced drinks.
Theres a lot of people that come through here. That being said, theres spots in this relatively smaller place that have plenty of space, so you can choose whether youd like to be in the crowd or take a break. The music is always great.
Been my favorite bar ever BUT the old man bartender with glasses in the front bar spilled a drink into my eye and was very rude about it. will be avoiding him every time i go now. was sober for the whole incident.10/10 bar though
WARNING FOR DISABLED FOLXA friend of a friend went to Rain and was treated terribly by the staff and the owner. They yelled at this person for bringing their scooter into the establishment, moved it without their consent, and then the owner tried to bribe the person to leave, saying that he didnt even understand why this person had come in the first place and that they didnt look disabled.
Bobby is an amazing bartender! Vylette Ward brings the glam! What a great place for fun times and fun people
Not sure what’s going on with the bouncers. Although I was fine and hadn’t had anything to drink. They said I looked like I was too drunk to let me in. I’ve literally never experienced this ever.
Be careful as they pour your drinks, they will put VERY little alcohol in, and all mix. Watch out for bad bartending. Great dance location.
Edit: money was returned. Updated to 5One stars until I can get the double charge on my card removed. Tried phone number at different times with no luck yet. Will update once issue is resolved.
Door staff terrible. Declined allowing coming in with no real reason other than they “believed” I had drank too much however only had 2 beers entire evening. Pathetic and an empty bar denying people entry is just weird
I have never had a bad night here. Friendly staff that tries their hardest to get you your drink and the patrons are always nice too.
Glad I came to the reviews first Thanks! Thanks for the heads up and 1 star reviews. We will be in Austin for the next few days and we will avoid the place like the Rona (COVID-19).
The pour is too heavy here...which eats away at your liver and their profits, so nobody wins. Id rather have a potable drink and stay longer to order more throughout, than to burn out and stumble out.
Had to duck in here due to some creepy tourist following me around 4th street. Bartender let me stay and hang out until it safe to leave, and went above and beyond during this scary situation. Thanks for having my back!
I have known as lady sativa in Denver. I was net with nothing but rudeness. I thought I was in Dallas. Very very unusual for Austin. Im not used to being treated this way in Austin
Love it. It had a blast for my 40th Birthday
Rude door. Rude management. Couple of great, friendly bartenders and sometimes their drink specials really come through. Thats really all there is to say. Everything else is absolutely lackluster. Its like 6th did 4th.
My wife and I love this club. Good drinks and music. She lost her phone one night and the next day we called and they had it waiting for her.
Best gay bar in Austin! SO much fun, and the bartenders are awesome! LIght up dance floor and fun shows.
The most fun Ive ever had at a club. I dont care how you identify, you will have a great time here. Good music and awesome entertainment.
Favorite bar in Austin. Love the bartenders.. Roberts my favorite!! Highly recommend it to everyone. Good music in a large space.
Went in had a server named Justin ask for a whiteclaw for a quick drink an charged me $8 for a whiteclaw then soon as cash out not even 30mins later I’m charged $25 great way to run a business.
Loser bouncers go on power trips and unconstitutionally confiscate pepper spray defense tool from single women.
Awesome place to dance! The music is on point. You can also hang out with your friends on the back patio.
DJ Filthy Rich brings excellent music. Johnathon and Texas serve super cocktails. Scott assures everything runs well.
The bartender makes so bad drinks, plus every one bartender makes their own prices for a drink. Management also terrible!!! Never will back again!
Fun spot for an evening out, dancing and a few laughs. The main area is non smoking which is great, Im disappointed that the back area allows smoking though.
Great place to hang in Austin with a patio, dance floor, great bartenders, and pumpin music. Dancefloor is a bit odd but its a fun place.
They took off clothes of my friend while he was drunk. The manager literally caressed me as I tried to exist.
The vibe would be so much better except for the excessive amount of bachelorette party girls.
Friendliest service Ive ever had. Amazing scene! One of my favorite places to go when visiting Austin
LOVE the patio at Rain. They also have karaoke sometimes if youre in to that. Kinda pricey drinks and bartenders can ignore you sometimes.
Cool, place, love the drag shows they have, first time I saw one, its a lot of fun.
Always friendly, great staff and great entertainment. You will always feel welcome here. This is the spot to escape it all and be yourself. Str8, gay, bi. Be who you are!!!!!!!!!
The staff is amazingly helpful and cooperative. The place enhances its charm by the beautiful and very subtle music that they play.
Me & my wife came here during the day to grab a quick drink over the weekend and the customer service was through the roof, and the bartender drinks were excellent.
My brother is amazing. Check him out at the front bar …… come on Bobby Cook
This place is a dump! Don’t go in the bathroom!!! The music is basic at best. I was beyond discussed and horrified.
Fun to go and dance. Karaoke on wed is always fun. The bartenders are the sweetest!
I dont appreciate being over charged an additional $25 when I spent only $10. When I have the receipts. Called and left voicemail. No one return calls.
A pretty neat bar, though usually a little crowded. The live karaoke is a lot of fun.
Great club with a great atmosphere. The music is a great mix of different genres.
This place and I GO WAY BACK! Rain is the place to be and next to Boyz Cellar (you old school Austonians know what Im talking about) there is no better club to party at.
Rude barback (guy wearing all black with satanic belt was mean to me)
Great light up disco dancefloor, friendly staff, friendly regulars. highly recommended.
Big, open space with a good floor-lit stage. The dancers in the cages kept the crowd moving all night
Unless you’re a bartender favorite or 20 years old, you will be ignored here. Awful service.
Awesome bartenders and drinks. A good place any day especially for Sunday funday
The bar is big - all of them - but the dance floor is way too small.
Went on an 18+ night (Thursday) and had a great time with my friend!
I feel like it’s not as fun as it once was 🤷🏻♂️ overpriced drinks as well
Some of the men that work here are so rude and lowkey racist ! Never coming back
Never heard of these bars I hope there good
Pretty decent club. Interesting people all around and I always have a story to tell later.
Super fast bartenders , fun spot to dance
As far as I know there are drag shows on Wednesday. I had fun.
Great place to get my dance on with my FABULOUS friends! Visit Texas out on the deck!
Great place for drinks, new friends, and awesome drag shows.
Nice club, good music selection
Great club with great music. There is outdoor space as well.
Rain is the BEST! Timmy is my favorite bartender downtown.
Make your signs bigger with the rules... give someone a chance. #littlepaper
Staff is rude and will push you. If you so much as look at them afterwards you will be ejected.
Bobby is kind, open and playful
Rain is home to one of the best dance floors in Austin.
The waiter bumped me and was extremely rude about it. I would not go here again!
Definitely a blast to go out dancing here.
One of the bouncers tried to touch me in the bathroom, large black guy, not going back.
Absolutely rude DJ, and terrible music, basic at best.
Love this place people are very nice and the staff seem very happy to do ther job
Great gay club. Spent a lot, hopefully it was worth it!
Had a dance floor and playing techno
Great party scene!
When I wanna dance all cray, I go to rain.
Its a bit old style place. You may like it or may not..I found it just OK.
2nd best gay club in Austin for sure
Good club, and great music, and fun crowd!
One of the best bars downtown.
Decent club. I like music 1/4 of the time.
Great place to go dance and be yourself.
Fun club scene. Great people-watching.
Nothing but good drinks & Fun!
Young crowd. Good patio.
Is this place 18 up today ?? Sunday
Love the bar and music and staff
Don’t waste your time.
