Came in before a concert and had a few drinks at the bar with friends. Got the watermelon mojito and margarita and both were very fresh and delicious. Paul was one of the best bartenders I’ve had in a long time and you could see how he enjoys his job and very friendly. Had the kielbasa wrapped in bacon and it was worth the hype. Will gladly come back.
Paul the bartender is unbelievable!! so knowledgeable, recommended us all of our drinks and appetizer. hilarious, kind, personable. everything was flavorful and incredibly fresh. cannot recommend them enough
Visiting and went there later in the night. Girl @ the bar was very rude and ignored us when we tried to order. Then when I did order I paid my tab and left. I came back to order another drink and she refused me service bc I did not tip her. Overall just rude and not to mention we were the only black people there. I felt like she just didn’t want us there in the first place. Will not be going back.
Amazing vibe but unfortunately the guy at the door is the biggest looser , went there two days in a row! Unfortunately on my 3rd time I was told that we best find a diffrent place, this is at 1pm in the afternoon . These people at the door are chasing away all the people unless they think you good enough. I will never set my feet back here, I will never spend another dollar at this facility. Theres many more places to choose from. AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT
The atmosphere was wonderful open air, was busy, but still found a spot on the first floor bar. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The place smells amazing, too! The food was delicious, some of the best clam chowder Ive ever had. The white bull lobster roll was amazing, too. didnt know what to expect with avocado aoili and bacon on a lobster roll but it was delicious! The watermelon mojito and watermelon margarita was phenomenal. If I find myself in Boston again I will be back!
White Bull Tavern is a great place to eat! It has it’s own style in food and decor. The ambiance is great, and the location is even better. It’s just down the street from some of Boston’s most historic Pubs and Taverns. As far as the food goes, it might be the best we (My wife and I) had on our trip. We got Crispy Jalapeño Bacon Wrapped Kielbasa as an appetizer, it was mouth watering and a generous portion! I liked this dish so much Im going to try to recreate it for my own family get together’s back home. Then for the entree we got the Space Hound Pizza. This pizza is good, I didn’t love the smoked paprika aioli as much as I thought I would, but It’s just as the menu states. Great food, great service!
Awesome place! My daughter and I stopped there for a beer to talk about where to go for lunch. Paul was working and somehow knew our plan so, he started talking to us about the menu. He first convinced us to have watermelon mojitos instead of beer (we were on vacation after all!) and he had pureed fresh watermelon that morning. Those mojitos were the best Ive ever had. Light and refreshing without being overly sweet. He then told us that their spicy, dry rub wings were the best we would ever have and fell off the bone. Ive been home two weeks and had a lot of great food in Boston, but Im still craving those amazing wings that literally do fall off the bone. He suggested we also try the spinach and avocado dip that was never too thick and gloppy nor thin and runny and that was a total homerun. Finally, he told us we couldnt leave without trying the pizza that was made in an ages old wood fired oven imported from Italy. That pizza is up there with the best Ive had. In summary, we had a blast at this place as Paul was fun and interesting and the food was spectacular. Great place, well be back on our next trip. Thanks Paul from Ohio!
Love coming here for private parties upstairs. The room is aesthetically pleasing - so no need for lavish decorations. Been here for 2 different graduation parties.
Best Pizza we have ever had!! We are from Jersey! Wings amazing , service perfect. If you are in Boston this is a must stop!! Best mothers day Lunch in a long time!
Had a chance to join the Philadelphia Fan Club of Boston for the Eagles @ Texans and game 5 of the world series, what a great atmosphere! Bar was packed but staff managed to stay on top of things all night. Had an awesome time, and seeing the tavern the next day I never could have guessed it was where I was the night before, location is incredible as it is next to Faneuil Hall in the heart of downtown, nicely updated but still maintains a nice traditional feel, front windows open to the street to really open the seating area up. Will definitely be returning here next time I am in Boston.
Our first time there and definitely wont be our last. Great atmosphere, great food and excellent service. Our bartender was Paul and everything he recommended to us was five star!
Took way too long to get a drink ordered and delivered to the table. Bar was half empty at 4:30 on Friday and they had one bartender who did not seem like he was in a rush at all.
Didn’t get food, but drinks spot on 😉. Watermelon mojito was refreshing. Tequila shot was bang. Great IPA. Thanks ladies
The waitress was careless, she didnt get the order right, she was busing tables and dropped silverware and just left it there. My wife had to tell her to pick it after she came by a few times and never bent down. The food didnt come out the way we wanted it. The menu says the burger is a smash burger on a Brioche bun. It was basically a McDonalds hamburger with a Stop&Shop buns. Definitely not worth the money. The waitress also didnt bring us the sides we ordered. We both hate tomatoes, so we said no tomatoes but it came out with them anyway. No big deal, we just picked them off.The burger only came with a very few potato chips. Good thing we ordered an appetizer too. One other thing I didnt like, was everything was extra. Cheese .50, Bacon $2, BBQ sauce .50, mayo .50, I dont have a problem paying it but just seemed weird to be upcharged for BBQ sauce. I dont blame the kitchen. She was the one responsible for messing up our order. Lastly, she over charged us for several appetizers we didnt order. Poor sloppy service, my wife suggested I dont leave a tip, but I did anyway. I knew I was going to write this poor review of White Bull. Other than the beer, it was one of the worst lunches in Boston I have ever had.
Saturday night scenes: looked alive from the outside. We showed our IDs, paid $10 for entry and got in. What bummed me out was that at the bar, when I requested Moscow mule, the bartender said she doesnt have ginger beer. When we asked for Mojito, she didnt have mint. Finally we just asked for spiked lemonade. The music was old and fun but a bit inclined to female taste. I didnt have a great time!
Very limited menu, the only meats are Chicken and steak. All of which are overpriced. The waitstaff were rude to my family. Avoid at all costs.
The disgusting place. Patrick, manager, is very bad man. He rejected to service me without any reasons. It was discrimination of nation, because I am asian. They didn’t give me even menu. Very sad. He was standing and laughing looking at me! If this situation took place in my country I would hit him, but we are in US, and I respect America’s laws. But unfortunately sometimes here men behave themselves like women. Very pity Patrick for you. I asked for the host’s phone number, and he didn’t give it to me. I hope I will buy this restaurant one day and u will be the first person fired from here and feel himself humiliated. Not recommended!
The New England Holocaust Memorial.(Translated by Google)Clean, fast service, polite staff. Unusual design of the second floor room. There is an elevator (the first time I saw an elevator in a restaurant 😬, the elevator is working and quite modern from the outside). There is air conditioning! View from the window of the square where The New England Holocaust Memorial is located.
Loved their take on an Old Fashioned, the Bull by the Horns. My favorite thing about this is that the ice is served on the side. For me, it tells me that it is going to taste well on its own and you make your drink chillier, if you like.I went in seeking seafood and I found it. They had three different types of lobster rolls, Maine, New England, and the House Made. Per the bartenders recommendation, I went with the House as there was an avocado spread and bacon, because who can say no to bacon? It was a Poor mans version of serve and turf. It was delicious and filling. I will be back to eat my way through the menu.I also loved the unique decor. There are so many things that drew my attention that was non-traditional but worked extremely well.
Great Place! Had lunch there last weekend ☺️ Ordered some smash burgers for 12 bucks and clam chowder for 7. I like the place. Very friendly and accommodating staff. They have an outdoor table set up and even if you eat inside, the windows are fully opened and social distancing protocols are followed. The staff are wearing masks and I can see that they are really disinfecting each table when a customer leaves.Lots of screens to watch sports and I like the music selection with a chill vibe, all making up for a great ambiance 😊The burgers are great and more so is the clam chowder! Will definitely go back there!! I had a good time!
Went around 330pm on a Saturday, was sat at a table, and waited on right away. I ordered the Buffalo Soldier pizza, and it was yummy but a little on the smaller side for a $20+ pizza. I also ordered an espresso martini would was made perfectly.
Sat at the bar, was a pretty slow Monday evening so service was quick. Bartender was very friendly. Ordered a gluten free pizza and some drinks. GF dough is marked, not sure about other GF items(have to ask). Overall it was tasty! Just know that (personally) 1 GF pizza is enough for one person. If it’s more than one person I’d recommend getting one each. Delicious nonetheless! Would go again
Pauly behind the bar was fantastic and the main reason for our return!Ask him anything about any menu item and he will have an honest description and offer suggestions. Every place needs a Paul, no doubt. Meatballs are incredible! Do yourself a favor and visit, eat good food, and if Paul is working, ask him about Hawaii, or any Boston team, or Vegas or anything else, really. Hell have a heckuva story :)
Steak tips are their signature dish, but fail to really deliver. I found the meat ridiculously chewy for a $27 dish. The best thing we had was the meatballs, pretty good and reasonably priced, still gotta knock those stars for the tragedy that was those steak tips. Waiter was fine, atmosphere was unique being and older refurbished building.
Visited Boston and found this little gem. We had every intention of doing some bar hopping but loved this place so much we stayed here. We even returned the next morning for brunch. The pizza is amazing!! The staff here was lovely, but Paul in particular was the reason we loved this place so much. He was so great to talk to, full of knowledge, and took good care of us. Its clear he loves what he does. Hes a mojito magician!
Prices of both of our drinks were more than the menu listed and one of the drinks brought out was wrong. We also ordered an app and it never came nor was it on the check. We left as quick as possible.
Worst place ive ever been, had lobster roll and pasta, the lobster roll was dry with plain chips from the supermarket, and the pasta was pre heated in the pan, with burning spots on the pasta, TOTALLY NOT RECOMMEND
Stopped in due to the sign advertising 19.99 Lobster roll and cup of chowder. Initially was told chowder is not served during breakfast (before 11:30), but it became lunch during our meal so got the chowder as well. Not sure why this was so confusing - if you have the sign out, as a restaurant, be ready to honor it.Lobster roll was delicious. Clam chowder was very good.Ate outside and the location was a great for a quick bite to eat in Boston.
7/26/2020- sat on the patio during a gorgeous July night, awesome experience!Party of three, who share. Ordered the White Ball Lobster Roll, Maine Lobster Roll and a Ruban. The rolls came with the New England Clam Chowdah. The Chowdah was FANTASTIC!! My White Ball was perfect!! The Maine LR was mixed up and ended up being the New England Roll. The Maine was fabulous though, no complains although not what was ordered. The Cuban was also mixed up and Cuban rather than a Ruban which was ordered. The Cuban (mistake) was also very very good. We ordered the Brussels sprouts with bacon and those too were great!!Over all, I can’t say enough good things about the food that was served!! However the mix ups on food that were not properly noted or made up for was a little disappointing especially with my level of experience. All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend stopping here for food, the food will be fantastic!!! Just make to be super clear about your order if you’re not as accepting of mistakes as we are.
The food was good, the staff attentive and helpful. Its definitely worth hitting up if youre in the city centre l.
Wish I could rate 0 stars. Empty on a Saturday night - definitely not the place to go. Choose another bar - staff is SUPER RUDE!
WARNING: Only go to this place if you are caucasian. My friend was not let in because he is POC and was searching too long for his ID.If you are not white this is your warning.
This place was super disrespectful beyond compare. Please do not come here. There are much better places to visit in Boston.
The bouncer there on Friday night was on a real power trip. Even the hostess working there was clearly embarrassed by how rude he was to my whole family. Management should take a look at who you are putting up at the door to represent your business. From reading these reviews, we weren’t the only ones with this experience. What a shame.
Best margarita in town. The staff is always pleasant and the spinach dip is delicious.
First time tried in Boston and the apps and lobster Mac and cheese were unbelievable! Also had a watermelon margarita and they fresh squeeze the watermelon in the morning to make them.
Best chicken wings I’ve ever had. I eat 2 orders there and got an order to go!!!
Stopped here last on a pub crawl and the whole vibe was awesome. The karaoke was so good with no awkwardness and more like an impromptu concert where everybody was cheering everyone on.
Great place. Bartender Paul was awesome. Good service and gave us tourist tips on things to do. He knew were Texans right away! Had pizza and Bacon wrapped Kilabasa😎 M
Sadly no good service. Very unfriendly employees. They just force us to leave the bar and force to give a tip.
I love this place. Twice now I’ve had client dinners here, and each time we’ve had a tremendous experience. The pizzas are AMAZING, the cocktails are fun, and every person on their staff has been fantastic to us. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.
Myself and 4 family members came here on a Sunday evening. They were out of lobster so I couldnt have the lobster Mac n cheese...but what I did have was absolutely amazing. I had the caprese panini. It was perfectly pressed, had fresh ingredients, and the perfect amount of everything. The tomatoes stayed in place and didnt slide all over. Everything we had was delicious but the panini is something that I thunk is extra noteworthy.
Amazing to me how a perfect location with such beautifully clean food doesn’t charge more for their food, This place should absolutely have five stars.
What a find. If you want fantastic food and to be warmly welcomed, this is the place to be. Paul was tending bar and his food recs (and that of others at the bar, its so good that fellow patrons share faves) were spot-on: White Bull lobster roll is chilled lobster mixed with avocado and chopped bacon. Wicked good, Id order this again. And I got spinach-artichoke dip to-go. So glad I did. It had foil underneath to keep it neat in the box, and pita is not adequate description for the yummy soft bread that comes with it. With the cheesy dip, a perfect snack. Just an awesome experience, thank you Paul, Sam and fun fellow patrons.
Loved hanging there with Maki on Maki Mondays! Should be a thing going forward...
Went here for Karaoke and it was a lot of fun, vibes were great and drink were pretty good! The big downsides was the cost and service. A shot of tequila was over $11 and they didnt have lime left so they gave me an orange slice lol. Let me tell you an orange slice does not work the way a slice of lime does to chase a shot of tequila haha.
Possibly the worst dining experience ever. What I presume to be the owner was astonishingly rude. The food was sub standard to say the least and the service was possibly the worst I’ve ever experienced. If you are in any way tempted to go into this restaurant I would highly advise you choose to dine in one of the outstanding venues either side of this kip.
We stopped in for a quick cocktail before dinner on New Years Eve.They pour a decent drink and the dips we had were delicious.
We stopped by for a pre dinner drink. The place was not busy, no wait, plenty of empty tables. We were sat right away, then left alone for long enough that the hostess came over to make sure we were able to place a drink order. We ordered a round of drinks, an app, and my wife ordered a cucumber salad. We got the drinks and the app, but a caesar salad arrived and we sent it back in the hope that it was a simple mix up. That was the last we saw of any of the staff unfortunately. After a while we were able to flag down the waitress, who unceremoniously dropped our bill on the table without a word. Luckily we were able to flag her down again because the caesar salad was on there. She took that off but then dropped the corrected bill back on the table without a word of apology. We still tipped 20% because we arent garbage people but the service was really underwhelming and the food wasnt anything special so I wouldnt recommend.
20 minutes into my time here a security guard pushed hard on my backside. Because I didn’t move he got into my face screaming obscenities at me and trying to fight. He called his boss over who initially sided with me, but after the security guard threw a tantrum he kicked me out. The employees obviously realized how ridiculous this was and chased after me to hand me my money back. Childish behavior from insecure men.
We were visiting Boston and came across this great place. The manager welcomed us warmly and the waitress was very nice. Very quick service and the food was very good. My girlfriend told me it was probably the best pizza shes ever had! Among all the restaurants in Boston that we tried, by far the best service and especially by far the best value for money. Thanks!!
Karaoke tuesday-thursday is a blast! Shoutout to mike
Absolutely no complaints here. A good establishment with good service. Since there was no opportunity to go above and beyond with anything I cant go to 5 stars; however, their special (a pureed watermelon marg) was fantastic, and their food was adequate.
Tried to have a meal here and service was terrible. Waited half hour and no one bothered to even bring us water. Two servers kept going to the same three tables while the rest of us kept trying to get their attention. When I called the manager over he didn’t even bother, just yelled “I said ok!” Ended up leaving and going to Bell in Hand where they treated us like customers. Never again.
We had 1 drink and we were going 100% at karaoke since we were on vacation. They claimed we were too drunk and refused to serve us at first. When we tipped $0 because they were being rude, they kicked us out saying we had too much to drink. Such a bummer. The karaoke person was great and was fun! Wasn’t happy with the staff and wouldn’t go again.
Paul was awesome. Had some great banter with the other bartenders/waitstaff and us. Gave us fantastic and honest Italian food recommendations. Shout out Paul!
The staff and service was AMAZING!! They went above and beyond to make our day special. I proposed to my girlfriend on a Saturday afternoon(the busiest time of day for them). They gave family & friends (25 people) a little corner window spot to watch me pop the question. The food was fantastic and service was top notch. Everyone had a great afternoon and it’s a memory I will hold on to forever. Especially the hostess very politely asking someone to move their van, who literally parked right in front of the window! When I go into Boston I will definitely be stopping in for some Pizza and a beer!
Eclectic vibe! Was here late night for drinks, karaoke and dancing. For a Thursday night it was a great vibe of people. Upstairs had a nice dance party going. What makes me give it 5 stars was the ability to get a 2 beers for 13$. Seemed very reasonable for drink pricing.
Stopped for lunch on the patio. Had the cucumber salad and the burger. Food was ok, service was good. Didnt dislike but there are probably better options around.
Food was good but service was terrible. There were 3 of us and one of us ordered an appetizer for dinner and we ordered another appetizer to share as well as a cup of chowder. We ordered a pizza to share which we never got. Waitress delivered apps and didn’t come back for a long time. We assumed pizza would be coming out soon. Didn’t get refills on any drinks. When waitress finally came back we asked about pizza and she said she forgot. We decided to just have her take it off the check since we were done with apps and soup and we wanted to leave. We asked for refills which we never got. Restaurant wasn’t busy. Waitress was too busy flirting with host and socializing with coworkers. We finally got our check and once again it took her a while to come get payment as we noticed she was still messing around with coworkers. And we never got our refills. Pretty disappointing and that place is not recommended at least while that girl is still employed there.
Club at night time. Loud music and good drinks. Was pretty packed but thats what I expected late night Boston . I would not go at night if you dont like the crowd or loud music. The dance floor was big and nice all around. Id come back if I was in the area.
I was charged $60 for a Miller Lite. When i questioned it the bartender told me, “Dont be rude.” I was not rude. She was beligerent. Do not recommend. Check your tabs for incompetence.
Arrived at Saturday night at 6 with a party of 9. We were seated immediately which is unheard of. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was unfriendly. All the best beers were out of stock. The pizzas were delicious, but I suspect the other menu items came from cans or were manufactured in some way. When menu items are priced so high, you expect high quality. After paying our bill with cash, we had to ASK for our change
Amazing drinks. Wednesday the 6th of October me and my girlfriend went here randomly for drinks after wondering the Quincy market. The wait staff was unbelievable nice. Im not a drinker and didnt know what to order off their drink menu and one of the wait staff offered a suggestion and the bartender politely accepted to make me a drink she was new to. The experience was great. Would definitely recommend for drinks.
Food was fine. Service was extremely slow; it took 45 minutes to get 2 breakfast sandwiches. Our corn beef hash took so long that we left before eating it. Water and soft drinks had a funny taste. Will never return.
This is the best Karaoke bar Ive ever been to. Went with a few people from my company while bar hopping and the DJ mixes the mic for you to sound like what the actual singer sounds like. This makes things youd do as a singer going to a karaoke bar (like cupping the mic for some reverb) completely unnecessary. Went here, didnt listen to the recording but it definitely sounded like the best rendition on a Radiohead song Ive ever sung. It was effortless when properly mixed and I didnt even sing it that well.Dj backup vocals well and will guide you with his voice to get you on track if youve had one too many. Heard people who clearly were singers and people who just talked their karaoke songs and both of which sounded better than any karaoke bar Ive ever been to.2 non-beer drinks cost $26, didnt have any food.
Terrible experience. Waited at hostess desk for about 15 minutes. Decided to sit down at a table and was told it was already reserved. Explained we waited for a while to be seated and assumed it was self seating. The waiter complained about being short staffed like it was something I should help fix. Food came out a little slower than the norm but thats fine. What really ruined the evening was the 45 minute wait to get the check after finishing eating. Bar rescue needs to make a show about this place. Maybe management needs to find some staff that can show up. If you are awaiting execution and only have 2 hours left, I would not recommend you waste those precious moments here.....
Don’t go here. Absolutely terrible. They closed early after being there for 10 minutes and paying a 10 dollar cover and wouldn’t let me finish my drink. I asked the owner for my money back for the cover and he said “get lost you’re not getting your money back.
The food is terrible, very dry and tasteless but the service is ok. I would not recommend for dining but for drinking at the bar yes. It needs an overhaul of the kitchen to be able to deliver good food
Do not go to this place WARNING!!! they are rude mean and disrespectful and on top of that racist. I was there with a friend from Atlanta, who is black, and a bouncer called him by the N-word!!! I was very shocked and disappointed !!!Not a place to go.
Great vibe, stuff is really friendly, food was ok - although I just tried pizza - what I didnt like was the cocktails/beers tasteless and with no alco. I tried 2 margaritas, 2 beer and everything was without taste.
If I could give this establishment a zero, I would, but unfortunately I have to give it a one. The bartender was incredibly rude and biased. Refused to serve my friends and family based upon appearance and financial status. We were only offered water at the bar when trying to order drinks. Extremely unwelcoming environment and was practically chased out of the establishment, as we weren’t being served. An international ID was also turned away at the door and separated from the group. Overall experience was extremely disappointing and uncomfortable. The group felt unwelcome and unsafe.
This place is a blast, and offers it all! Great music and a comedy show Saturday nights. Make sure to grab a homemade frozen pizza on your way out to make at home, they are delicious.
Fantastic Oysters! And the other food was great too! The waitress was beyond accommodating she been went next door to grab me some crackers for my clam chowder. My improvement suggestion would be to have crackers come out with the chowder and oysters. The bar tender was very pleasant and helpful with suggestions for our evening.
Went for a comedy show, staff was slightly disorganized during this (not sure if the comedy staff are part of the bar/restaurant.) There was a drunk heckler in the front row which disappointed not only the patrons, but you could tell the performers were thrown off their game by it as well. Wish they could have done something about that. Stayed for the DJ after, pretty decent crowd pleasing music. A lot of people were vaping throughout the establishment. I personally dont care about that, but I know for other people thats a turn off. Drink prices were reasonable, everything appeared to be clean and in good order. There was a great ambience for a nightclub feel upstairs. The bar downstairs was refreshing with their open to street windows. Cant speak for the food but well have to go again and give that a try.
Start to finish 10/10 would not reccomend!! Brussel sprouts were not cooked, wings were undercooked, but that is not the worst part. We got sat, ordered food, then all of a sudden there were a bunch of workers removing all the tables and chairs around me. I think they may be unsure how to transition to a club..but making customers feel that unwanted is not the way. Even being sat I could feel the anamosity from the group of older men at the host stand, especially the one who sat us and threw the menus on the table then walked away. The decor was on point, but whats a restaurant with horrible staff and worse food?My server was very nice even though she also felt the food was not good and stated that.
Outstanding experience. Food was great (House Special - Cast Iron Steak Tips), and the waitress delivered a top job even with a full house.
I recently had the misfortune of dining at White Bull, a restaurant that left a sour taste in my mouth due to the abhorrent behavior of its disrespectful owner. From start to finish, my experience was tainted by the unprofessional and disrespectful attitude displayed by the owner.
Dont go here unless you want to be body shamed and harassed by the bouncer (bouncer shown in the attached photo). I havent witnessed this type of bullying since middle school. I watched the bouncer tell a woman that shes too fat for her age then he proceeded to pour rain water (from the umbrella above) all over her head. I wish I was making this up. The way the staff treats people here is discriminatory and pure evil. On top of the horrible treatment I witnessed, I thought the food might be their only redeeming quality until I found a piece of hair in my meal- mind you: I have a shaved head. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.
Drinks were good and service was great. I personally wasnt a fan of the food but I can see others liking it.
Im not coming back. The service is very poor. Karaoke host is nice. The security guys are polite and respectful. The bartenders are rude, and ready to beat you up if you dont tip them as they want for their amazing service *being horribly sarcastic* I never got to experience a waitress questioning my tip. Unbelievable!. Really bad experience. Not coming back!Update:They also over charge my credit card because the female bartender (which is so rude and unprofessional) were not happy with the tip I tough she deserve. The all rude and unprofessional. I seen how she went to tell her coleagues what happened, and all of then were looking at me. Also my friend heard her call me b**** because the tip.
Modern, spacious, bright, comfortable, airy. Lifts up the spirits. The food tastes great. I had cauliflower and New England lobster roll and both were excellent. Paul at the bar was great to chat with. Friendly place. You will enjoy your visit.
The food was very good and the view of Boston was very nice open air space a lot of seating and the lobster roll was great! They were accommodating to our request for a seat near an outlet. Lobster roll was affordable and we got the hot version.
We took our work team there for lunch, and everyone enjoyed the meal!We got the roasted cauliflower and wings apps, both of which were good as comfort food. For the six of us, we got the buffalo chicken, vegetarian, and breakfast (with the bacon on the side) pizzas, all of which were delicious - no leftovers! (I kind of wish wed ordered a fourth, to try another.)Our vegetarian colleague was also really happy with all of her options -- turns out it wasnt her first time ordering the breakfast pizza here (sans bacon). A great lunch, with a cool ambiance for our team!
Came in with my sisters . Service was awful . Food even worse . Waiter took forever to bring our drinks.I ordered steak tips Caesar salad which was gross . It looked like big chunk of disgusting rough piece of meat . No taste . Gross . I wanted to return my food but my sister wouldn’t let me . Place was not even busy . I definitely will not be coming back here 🤮👎🏻
The White Bull is fine. Its touristy, so its about what youd expect for the area. We ate here to kill an hour waiting for the train, and it was perfectly pleasant. Food was OK, they dont have a fryer though...so going and getting bar food but not being able to get French Fries was a bit weird. I wouldnt travel to eat here, but if you happen to have some time to kill downtown, you could do a lot worse.
Never seen a bar that has bouncers with more of an ego
Great, friendly place that welcomes all customers. The staff is kind, patient, and provides good recommendations. Paul is a superb bartender who loves sharing this space with his clientele. The food is very good and the tap list is always on point. Wonderful option to have downtown.
Last Saturday on February 4th my friend and I got refused to be let in, because the bouncer thought we were “too drunk”. We had just both taken one shooter before coming to help withstand the cold walk. There was no line so we tried to reason with him saying we could do whatever test he wanted to prove it. He rudely said, “Get Lost” and slammed the door behind him. I don’t know what his problem was but I’m never going back there. It was 20 degrees out and he wouldn’t even let us step inside to check our IDs. We ended up going to Hennessy’s bar 1 minute away and got in no problem. I hope he gets fired.
We went around 8 for drinks at the bar based on reviews. I was largely ignored by all of the bartenders while someone while others were served all around me. I am not a loud person and it was not crowded enough for this to be warranted. Once I finally ordered my drink, I was about halfway through it when an employee asked me to stand and took my stool because they were setting up for the night crowd.I would not choose to go stand at a bar and have a drink. It is one thing to never have had a chair because of a large crowd, but it is completely different to be halfway through service and have your seat taken away. Very disappointing.
Best place on our 3 day trip to Boston. Good food. GREAT service. Liked the sidewalk facing open windows. Highly recommend.
What seems to be a charming pub is bolstered with a an alarmingly troubled staff. If you had friends visiting in town and happened to be looking for a place packed with derogatory and racist remarks, the likes of which you haven’t heard uttered in the last past quarter century then look no further, we’ve saved you the trouble of finding this grisly gem. After a confusing and supremely eye opening experience with not only the host, but bartender and busser to boot, my party was turned away with no explanation and a handful of new offensive epithets.10/10 would not recommend to a friend! :D
Terrible service and servers. very disrespectful. do not come here
Doorman for night entertainment should try being less homophobic. Didnt feel welcomed at all after he dramatically judged my outfit (a Britney Spears sweatshirt).
A great place to try if you are visiting Boston. Service and food were first rate. Had a very enjoyable lunch with friends
My wife and I went for cocktails as the outside seating area looked inviting and the waitress who greeted us was very nice (ie the 2 stars).., but the cocktails we were served, 1 margarita and 1 mojito, were beyond bad .. as if the bartender was „trying“ his best to make the worst cocktails ever. The margarita was pure syrup, oversweetened, with hardly any resemblance to the classic which any barkeep should understand... and the mojito was the opposite, pure Soda, no flavor (at all) except for a faint dash of syrup (again) which left me to struggle to imagine I was drinking a cocktail. When 2 cocktails go this horribly wrong, there was no point in asking to have them replaced.. it‘s best to just leave as quickly as possible.
Popular spot, good atmosphere. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were nice. Food was good for bar food, but definitely not restaurant quality.2 stars because they gave us the wrong beer and the wrong lobster roll.
**full disclosure This is Thrusday night experience***THE WEEKS ARE LINES GALORE.Drinks 8/10The drinks are good ans attention from barterners is there so its appreciated.Food 9/10The pizza was very good and brick oven made. It was not to overcooked and the sauce was savory as well.Location 10/10This is perfect for bar hoping and enjoying a good night out. This is not EDM over charge for cover type of place which is nice. The location is good too with 5 other bars on the same street you have your pick of the litter.
I liked the oven pizza, the oven was huge and was an actual fire 🔥 open
They did NOT like that I brought my 8 month old into the restaurant for trivia. The manager wanted to ask our group to leave because we had a baby with us...That seems very discriminatory. Then I felt judged for having one cocktail. The manager asked if I was sharing it with my husband. How rude is that! Multiple things that our group wanted to order...They were out of.The buffalo chicken pizza was good, but not good enough to warrant another visit to this restaurant.
This is the worst restaurant experience Ive ever endured. Our waitress verbally threatened our group for leaving an 18 percent tip. After reading other reviews I see employees have a history of violence and the owners have not taken action. We contemplated calling the police because of the harassment. Looking back now I wish we had filed a police report. The food really wasnt that good either. There was lettuce in my water. Our drinks were never filled. We had to shout our orders across the restaurant. This person is unemployable (she was dark-headed and had a necklace that read Alex), and yet the restaurant has a long history of such behavior. Go somewhere else. You will be happy you did.
Ordered takeout and had a cocktail while waiting. Friendly service and the takeout was good. Egg and cheese panini was good. The bacon wrapped linquica with a dipping similar to honey mustard was delicious. Tasty!
This was the most bizarre dining experience I’ve almost ever had. The food was mediocre and the service was poor. But on my way out the waitress confronted me and told me that my 18% tip wasn’t enough and that I should’ve given more. I told her 18% is usually pretty good especially for bad service.I’ve been to thousands of restaurants all over the world and I’ve never had a waitress question my tip.Manager manager of the restaurant was holding interviews at the table next to us so maybe he was looking for some new help.
Pizza and wings are fantastic couple with a great selection of beers and a friendly staff. 5 Stars!
Clam chowder and lobster rolls for brunch. I would have gone back later for more if we didnt already have other destinations in mind. There were large, chewable chunks of clay in the chowder. On a cloudy, chilly morning, it fed my soul as well as my stomach. The lobster roll was overfilled, the bun slightly toasted. We left very satisfied.
A Warm friendly homely atmosphere the pizza is delicious and the staff is very hospitable. The decor makes you feel like you are back in the country (a little English British and New Orleans style). Very elegant venue for any occaision receptions, celebrations. A must visit when you come to Boston. I give it 5 stars Phantom gourmet if you havent visited you must stop by and say hi to Paul.
Awesome food and always welcoming to me and whoever is accompanying me. I highly recommend the bacon wrapped kielbasa. They also deliver their pizzas flash frozen to cook at home. Great food! Ill always stop in to say hello and have a bite and a beer.
Great spot before or after a play or sports event. I liked the atmosphere with a fun fushia lightning floating aboce 1 spot in the bar (not over powering).Really enjoyed the meatball (beef, veal, and lamb) panini. Very flavorful! Friendly bartender. 2 thumbs up
Loud environment with very overpriced beer. They turn the lights on and music off about 25 minutes before the listed closing time. Sat at the bar and it was nearly impossible to order a second drink or get my card back to close the tab.
This is the place I went to before covid-19 and they have changed their name I cant remember exactly what the name is but they are now the white bull karaoke bar and they are awesome Michael the karaoke host is absolutely awesome and I love the new friendships of singers and non-singers there! There are definitely some talented singers here! I go there sometimes when I can I dont drink or smoke like rest of the crowd but I like to sing with them and I like to share the YouTube cards and the book cards whenever the opportunity arises!😀🎧😀 So far this place has the best karaoke system I have heard in Boston and I look forward to going back again I want to try out these other places Ive been invited to first maybe meet new friendships? And their karaoke DJ Michael is second to none in singing or presenting or lifting up singers or announcing their names this is the consummate pro of what a karaoke DJ host should be! They also have great food and they have a great courteous staff to help you! I really like Michael not just for his fantastic singing voice but his professional way of doing things this is one place I would definitely recommend if youre looking for a place on Union Street in Boston! Michael the karaoke DJ is absolutely awesome one of the best singers I have encountered in my lifetime and its an honor to sing with him whenever we can! Hes got a very friendly relatable great attitude and he knows to draw people to the music! I enjoy singing there meeting new friends and hopefully getting a chance to pass out more YouTube cards about the music that God has given me to do that has been on YouTube now for over 3 years I believe the problem right now is not many people know about the music but thats about to change pretty soon and Ill explain in another post how thats going to happen! 😁🙏😁
Burger was so dry, I needed to drink more water. Panini was cold and cheese not melted. Better burger anywhere else.
This was an okay place. Food was not as good as expected and service was slow. Also, would not serve drinks before ordering food. I understand this is the way it is but all other places realize youre there to eat and will bring your drinks while trying to decide what to eat. Its too bad. With a little zest in the menu and some adjustments, this could be a great place.
Nice spot to grab a cool drink on a warm day. Dropped in on a Friday afternoon, greeter and waitress were both great. Nice recommendation on a lager, my wife loved her watermelon mojito and the kids got special mocktails. Place has a nice ambience and wed recommend it as a good place to drop by. Food looked good, the place has its own pizza oven. My wife also mentioned the toilets were nice, I know thats a funny one but a good sign of attention to detail and care by the owners. We will be back.
I loved the White Bull pizza. Most creative and delicious way of presenting Granny Smith apples, arugula, and vinegar drizzle on a pizza.
Fantastic atmosphere, and Paul is the most talented bartender this side of the Mississippi. Food was incredible too.
Only got a Margarita but it had no taste at all. I left without finishing.Bartenders serve your drink and then rush over to hang with the other staff. The focus is clearly not on the customer.
The first couple times were awesome. Made some good friends and have a lot of good memories. Past two times the doorman was so rude and not accommodating that it easily made us go elsewhere. Seems more interested in picking fights with people in line than bringing in business. Will likely return once the fun police departs.
Good food and good service. Not a lot of menu options but the clam chowder was outstanding. The 13 inch pizzas are really good if you are looking for something a little different.
Excellent food. Great service. Its a shame you are always rushed. We were given the bill before wed finished eating!
Music is great! Not too loud but cheerful. Pizza is amazing! And mojitos are a little sweet but good. Gins are good, not too sweet. The place has two floors, downstairs is open and upstairs is all indoors.
Came in on Wednesday night with my husband for a few drinks & appetizers before the Celtic game .The doorman was extremely Polite checked our IDs & sat us. But upon two minutes of being sat the place came alive with Mice. I easily saw about 6 mice in during our short stay. We wouldve loved to grab food but just grabbed a bottled beer and left.
Good food with wonderful service I really enjoyed the enjoyed the jalapeno bacon wrapped kilbasa my wife had a lobster roll what she said was wonderful. Fair prices for where it is located in town the only problem we had was that the water we were served had a somewhat fruity flavor to it other than that everything was great
Brand new on the Haymarket scene and loved having oysters and pizza at the same location. Pizza is cooked in a high temp oven and had the GM asked is how it was after a few bites. While its new establishment and working some things out you can tell the staff are really excited to be there and proud to serve.
Great space for a comedy show! Headliners are awesome, bartenders are very nice and attentive, and the atmosphere is super chill. Will definitely be back.
We walked into the white bull mainly because it was one of the few places open while we were walking around Boston. Now we are so glad we did. Best lobster roll we had in Boston 🦞. The Cubano sandwich was my husbands favorite. The atmosphere and decor was nice with a different feel than most places we had visited in the city.
Cool spot for drinks and a bite. We stopped in here 3x while on vacation. Their watermelon margaritas and main tails being the main reasons. They were light and delicious. We had a pizza thats was ok and a cesar salad that was ok too. The bartender was super friendly.
Horrible place the doorman is extremely rude, service is horrible. I witnessed a man getting beat up by the manager a horrific scene. Threw a chair at this poor guy who was a paying customer. If you wanted this man to leave simply call police and let them handle it. This was disgusting will never go there again and will make sure to spread the word. They should be ashamed of running a business in this manner. I feel bad for this poor man who got beat up. Hope he is well.
Great tavern. Excellent weekday service. Nestled in a slightly out of the way corner, near the market area, The White Bull is fairly easy to miss in the crazy conglomerate of shops in the area. Well worth the find, their pizzas, oysters and wings are worth a little searching. If youre walking the Freedom Trail, make a little time to have lunch or snacks at this fine little restaurant.
Having lived in Boston I’m use to servers who are busy and stressed - that’s not white bull. The place was virtually empty, and yet the hostess was exasperated and the sever walked up with so much attitude to ask “what do you want” that i almost shot back “excuse you”. We walked out. The food looked good, but there’s no excuse for rude service, let alone in a virtually empty place in the heart of Boston. This staff wasn’t in an f-you mood, the entire vibe was F-off. Turns out that’s a good way to have people just leave (the place next door is great, just go there).
Entertaining karaoke Tuesday night. Host was very engaging and responsive, crowd vibe was good, drinks were $8 (not $12 to $14 like some other bars I usually go to)
The owner is a horrible, rude, stuck up individual. I would highly discourage giving this man your custom. Plenty of other amazing restaurants nearby.
Went today for lunch- waited 15 minutes before anyone came to get our drink order-got our drinks and ordered (three Mac and Cheeses)-waited another 45 minutes. Wasn’t that busy. Wait staff around us was delivering food to wrong tables, no one seemed to know what’s going on. Ended up getting up and leaving and walking to Fanuiel Hall. Don’t waste your time! Also, originally wanted to order paninis and they were all out! Not very prepared for a Saturday.
Awesome place. I wasnt hungry so didnt try the food but drinks were great and the atmosphere is unique
My coworkers and I were out last night and we went to this bar, we all were driving that night and just had a get together and were just casually waiting to go in. The bouncer at the front then proceeded to yell at my male friend asking him if he was okay, we were all very confused at this point because we had not been drinking much we all needed to drive. Pretty sure the bouncer here was strung out on drugs because he could barely stand straight. After being incredibly rude to us we went to another bar and didn’t want to give the place business. When walking away we heard him do it to the next party also trying to get in.
Nice atmosphere, and some of the best Paninis Ive had. We had the Chicken Bacon with avacado spread, and the mojo pork shoulder panini. Absolutely delicious!
Horrible experience with host staff today. Tried to get a table and was told I was not allowed to order alcohol because the person I was with was not 21. Was told both people need to show IDs in order for ONE person to get a drink. Absolutely bonkers. What kind of make up law is that? Won’t be returning after this absurd rule.
Nice, straightforward menu. Lively atmosphere and very attentive staff. An enjoyable, quick meal for some hungry travelers. We sat near the open front door and since the weather was warm, the fresh air was welcome. Thank you
Beer and drinks were great. We didnt eat because we were in a hurry but the staff was great. Very relaxed place during the day which flips to a club like atmosphere at night. Very cool two story bar/restaurant.
Wow wow triple wow for the white ball Tavern, Boston cuisine at its finest! Right there at Faneuil, have a great meal and get right back to sightseeing or Boston hopping whatever you’re doing! Right in the middle of everything.Thank you so much, White Paul Tavern!
I completely understand that you can’t go in a bar with sandals but when I come back with shoes and acceptable attire (to a non-upscale restaurant), and they still wouldn’t let me it the business with no valid reason. The best thing of all Is that there were people in the business watching the situation happen. I a black man didn’t get service or a explanation in which I wasn’t allowed in the business. I heard bad things before but wanted to give them a try, this was one of the worse experience of my life. I felt oppressed.
Went in, was told by the gentleman we could grab a table with the kids. Grabbed the kids came back in a few minutes, lady tells us sorry no kids under 21, as theres younger people sitting inside. Ridiculous people. Go down the street , much nicer people and nicer place. Great way to treat tourists.
My Co-workers and I came in for lunch. We were one of the first people there. It took us about 40 minutes for us to receive our food... which is not ideal for a lunch meal during the week. Pet peeve was that a table who arrived 20 minutes after us and ordered after us received their food first. We ordered the fish tacos, the short rib fig flatbread and the short rib panini. The fish tacos were the highlight, spicy and good. However everything else was horrible. The short rib did not taste or look like short rib in my opinion. Just cubes of meat. For a flat bread that had the word figs in the name of it, it did not come with figs which was a bit confusing. We were told that the short rib cubes were soaked in a fig sauce. Skeptical. It was our first time to the restaurant after hearing a couple good reviews on them, however we were quite disappointed. Definitely not worth the price and not worth the visit.
The service was great, but the food was absolutely not worth the price. Our table of 5 talked it over, and no one seemed to enjoy their food. The comedy show was solid, but I cannot recommend coming here for food. Youre going to be disappointed.
We went in to watch a standup comedy show in the upstair room. The employees were friendly without attitude, or arrogance, (not as we usually find in those types of bars) . Our waitress (Julie) was nice, fast and attentive to our orders. The meat balls in my Panini where made of veal meat and were tasty served with home made chips that were fresh and crispy but lacking flavor. (it needed salt or some spice? )They have a good selection of cocktails and beers.*The restroom has a speaker to not miss a part of the show.
Ive been here multiple times and have had great experiences. The bouncers are actually nice, the bartenders are quick, drinks are actually strong, music is great, and the 2nd floor projector is massive (perfect for Sox and Bruins games). Overall great place to party in Faneuil Hall.
From Philly and enjoyed watching the Eagles game on New Years Day. Everyone was so pleasant and friendly. Will definitely come again.
Drinks were good, service wasnt too bad, but the food was weak. Undercooked burger and rubbery chicken. Was very disappointed. Literally our only bad meal throughout four days in Boston.
Went the day before St. Pattys and had a blast. The band they had was so good. Very friendly staff and enough room that you werent cramped. Me and my friends really enjoyed ourselves.
Eagles fans visiting Boston HAVE to watch an NFL game here. What an experience! Gracious staff. Good food. Great fun.
The food is not great, the service is very bad. They need to look into hiring some new waitresses, I have been to many places in Boston and we got treated very poorly here (TWICE) by the same rude waitress, she made us order a ton of food for a table of 6, which they don’t do at other places, we spent a ton of money just to get kicked out for one person being mad (she kicked us all out for one persons behavior). Very disappointed considering I’ve heard good things about this place, look elsewhere - there’s many other places to go like SISSY K’S (the best).. trust me.
This place is just OK. Not worth the $10 cover they charge to get in - no live music or DJ which in my book is what a cover charge is supposed to be for. Playlist is meh. On top of that, they lied to me and the people who work there are kind of mean.Called around 9pm the other night and asked when their cover started. The woman on the phone confirmed after talking with several colleagues that they start charging at 10pm and I wouldn’t need to pay to get in if I show up before then. Showed up at 9:30 and there was a $10 cover. I nicely explained what I had been told over the phone and the woman taking the cash snapped at me. I realize it’s only $10 but I probably won’t be going back out of principle. Don’t want to give business to a place like that when there are plenty of better options around.
The waitress was very rude and not being nice. She wasn’t pleasant from the moment we walked in and she made my friend cry and had us leave when we didn’t do anything wrong. We won’t be back to this place and it made us uncomfortable. Wild rovers is much better
