Such a fun vibe if you come here with a group of people! Weve gone here to celebrate a birthday 2 years in a row. The bucket drinks are fun with lots of straws for a big group and are good drinks to share. They have more generic items for food, would recommend getting apps here. We got the cheese fries which were great for the group. The band is amazing. They take requests and can play and sing almost anything. Fun vibe for dancing, singing, getting on the stage, or just listening to good music.
Came here for Emo night and a cover band was playing all the hits. I enjoyed the prices of the drinks and I was not aware theres a club downstairs. I really wish the kitchen closed later. I could have made it the whole night but was hungry 😕Definitely would be back next time.
The atmosphere was fun and upbeat. Although there was a companys work event going on, we were still allowed to go inside and find a seat. We ordered some pizza and specialty drinks, and they were all rather good. Our waitress, Haley, was very kind and fun to be around. The dual pianos and musicians were very talented, and made the night, for sure
First off lets start with this place being very racist. The manager/owner has zero respect and has terrible communication skills. He was very belligerent and unprofessional. Next there free party is FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. We had clear instructions from the event manager that we could have set up a back drop for pictures and connect to the tv/s to play or videos and the manager that night canceled that so clearly the communication was off between them and the free party is just a marketing scam to get people to come and invite their friends to Howl @ the moon. Bartenders were rude and the service was despicable and clearly they had a certain agenda to serve other individuals of color and pay more attention them instead of just serving everyone equally. I will never step foot in that establishment again!! Just an all around disgrace organization!!!
It was fun but make sure to pre game super hard! I went the other night and most of the drinks were so watered down and had almost no alcohol it it. My espresso martini tasted like a coffee milk. Will not be returning. Staff was friendly
Won a party! So much fun, friendl, courteous and helpful staff! The crowd was all together on singing dancing etc tge live music was amazingly, something for everyone! Thank you all for making out time enjoyable and memorable!
It was quiet when we went before rush hours..we had to go to the bar to order. which was i guess ok.. until I seen the waitress come and bring my food.! confused on who to actually tip. .. as you can see in the photos what we ordered .The 20/ wings splie. half buffalo half asian pretty good.. Make sure you ask for cooked well... The bacon tots with cheese was ok. ! taste a little off maybe a frozen taste but it was ok.. .. we had to tell the bartender to chill out on the ice.. i need more liquor and drinks then ice I watch to many bar rescues it kills my drink in less then 3 seconds. . but overall it was good .
Bouncer was cool. Super chill guy. Bartender could be a bit nicer. Music was great! Talented folk. Beer could be cheaper.
New Years Eve Disaster- We paid almost $500 for a reserved table that ended up being practically on the dance floor. When the 1,000 (or so it seemed) kids came in and took over place, we had the most obnoxious, most inebriated ones pushing us and our table. We asked management to do something, and their solution was to move us to another table at the other edge of the melee. At that point, it seemed way overpacked, we feared for our safety and left at 10:00.
Great place for a party with friends. We had fun on the dance floor, the musicians are talented, and the service for food and drinks was perfect.
Such a fun piano bar. The song selection depends on the crowd, but the players can pretty much play anything. We went on a Sunday night and there was no cover. Even though it was empty, the players still had so much energy. Drinks are reasonably priced. They have typical bar beers on tap. Will definitely come back again!
Nice place! Come early because the line gets long around 7-8pm. There are two levels connected with different styles of music top 40s to current plus you can request songs upstairs. When the other lower club opens you have to go outside and wait in a different line, I assume to keep count for fire hazard reasons. I like the age range which isnt all 21-25 year olds. You will find some 30-40s scattered randomly.I added the 5th star because the Promotions Manager Jessica M was really helpful about answering all of my questions and was quick to do so. Hopefully people reading this wins one of their free parties!!🥳🥳🥳
Great vibes. Good drink specials. Fries could use more cooking and seasoning.Great opportunity to meet people 👍🏽
Just had some finger foods but it was a cool place to go and have some fun at
Absolutely amazing bar! Great for the millennial crowed. Seems like they play all 90s, 2000s and 2010s music. Their big margarita buckets are fun for groups to share and all their mixed drinks and shots are top notch, Awesome atmosphere too! I come from an hour away to go to this bar every now and then with friends and we always have a good time. You can buy merch too like T shirts.Honestly my only complaint is that you cant buy the cool sweat shirts they have. Those are for staff only for some reason and I dont get why since they also wear the Tshirts so whats the difference really? I know others that want the sweatshirts to be buyable too. I hope they someday make them available for public purchase. Other than that this is a 10 outa 10 bar from me.
Went on a Saturday night. There was a cover charge, but fairly cheap. The band was kind of all over the place in terms of the types of songs, but I think they may have been doing requests. Got drinks fast, not too crowded.FYI: Bathrooms are few and the hallway is super small.
SKIP THIS ON A NIGHT OUT!!!Their only saving grace is that I cannot rate them a ZERO.The bouncers threw my partner to the ground after he accidentally bumped into them while dancing. No talking, just grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground. No apologies afterwards. The staff is terrible and overwhelmingly rude. Unintelligibly rude.
They over serve their customers and intentionally keep your card so when you close your tab so they can charge you a second time claiming you didn’t pay.I closed my tab on the second floor and never got my card so I had to ask again. Then the same thing happened at the night club section down stairs but this time the guy insisted he gave my card back to me.So many people were over their limit and 1 girl taken out by a stretcher with EMS, now I see why that was being allowed.
Went to Emo night. Had an absolute blast. Our waitress was excellent (it was her 3rd day) Loved the band, they all rocked it. Big shout out to the blonde who could sing anything and did. Absolutely 100% impressed! Thanks for letting me dance on stage all night. Definitely a night to remember for sure!! Thank you!
So for some reason they charge $10 cover and don’t let you go downstairs even though there is a staircase? And make you wait outside in the cold if you want to go downstairs, even if it’s empty
Drinks were cheap when we went and the vibe is overall cool! Some of the performers were a little underwhelming, and that affected the dance floor crowd at times. But music sound system is great and they know a lot of the more current songs (Thats What I Like) than some of the other dueling piano bar Ive been to. Check it out!
Thought this place could have been a good time because we won a raffle for it. You had to show up between 6-8 PM ON A SATURDAY for some crazy reason. We ended up showing up 4 mins past 8 because of the 40 mins Uber we had to take and they said no you cant get the deal/discount/wristband. I immediately said out loud this place is awful and not worth it in any way. Highly would recommend not to go to this place. If I could give 0 stars I would.
Pretty cool concept with 2 pianos and some instruments live performance.
Love these types of bars. Great environment and fun crowd
Came here for the first time for Emo Night, and I thoroughly enjoyed this place - will definitely go back in the future! It’s very spacious and didn’t make me feel too claustrophobic (bar in the middle, stage in the back of the room for live music and a separate club downstairs, I didn’t feel like I was stepping over anybody). The performers were also incredibly talented!! Kinda sad because I requested a song on Venmo but I don’t think they played it 🥲🥺There are also certain drinks that were $3-$4 and they were strong as hell, shoutout to the bartenders!Overall good vibes, good people, and good staff! Will be coming back x
We had so much fun and Derek is really the best bartender 🙌🏻
Took forever to get a drink when no one else is waiting. Staff ignores you if youre over 25.
Could have been some better music for 90s weekend. Orlando Florida is better.
Fun place to eat and listen to live music!! Great service also!!
We bought skip the line passes for both upstairs and downstairs venues for $40 pp for birthday party. We arrived about 9 pm and there was no line at either. Later there was a line outside for the lower level club. Very fun venue and MC was good at having the birthday girl get up on stage to dance and sing with the band with smoke effects!. Only complaint is that several times we venmoed money (as instructed) for song requests totaling $40 in requests and the songs were never played. MC said that the band only knows certain songs so they can’t do anything about not honoring paid song requests :(
Had a very okay experience. The musicians were talented but it didnt feel like the Dueling Pianos were the focus. We booked a table and were off to the side because the dance floor was right in front so your seat didnt feel like the priority when the night started. We tipped the musicians to play multiple songs and they didnt play any of them. The biggest positive was the service. Our waitress was on top of every order and even on a busy night it took no more than a few minutes for us to get a round of drinks.
This place continues to be cursed. we get roofied or harassed at every turn and the drink are weak at best
Band was fun, place was packed and the club below was amazing
I do not write google reviews. The waitress at this restaurant was so rude and disgusting I feel compelled to share my experience. I paid for $50 of drinks at the bar and a $30 cover charge when I got here and sat at a table with my group of 3. The waitress demanded that we order additional food/drink immediately or we had to leave. My sister, who I was with, just had SURGERY and needs a seat. The waitress was EXTREMELY rude and demanded get up and stand because we did not order additional drink and food and leave the table. We had several alcoholic drinks in hand already and it was literally not safe to drink more. This place is trash.
First and foremost, I am not one to write these sorts of posts. I dont think I ever have before. DONT GO HERE. I REPEAT. DONT GO HERE.I went to Howl at the Moon Boston for a friends birthday in which he won a free party which enabled everyone to get in without a cover. To sum it up:-- our assigned server was rude in the way she talked to us-- she rarely tended to our table-- she took drinks before people were done with them-- was unclear and opened tabs without communicating with card-owners that a tab was being opened-- thought it was smart to confront and dispute the tip she received, cuss out a customer, and have them removed by security. All of this was simply over a tab of $7.50-- AVOID SERVER ANGIE... She was terrible and ruined what should have been a fun night out celebrating a friends birthday
Generreally a really good place and we like to go to the different Howls in all cities when we are in the US.But this time there was a really bad experience with one of the bartenders. The place was really packed by a private function which I attended as well. At around 1 am when I walked upstairs from the restrooms I observed she walked down, slipped and fell. It looked like she hurt herself really badly and so I offered help. She refused. I went up the stairs back to the bar. Immediately afterwards one of the staff members came to me and asked me to leave because he claimed I behaved inappropriately...I really do not understood that at all because I did not do anything wrong. I just offered to help. I tried to explain myself but the staff member did not listen and so I left without further discussion.
Open mini buffet food was really great. Drinks were affordable and the atmosphere was really nice with the live music. it was hard to find a seat and the crowd seemed young! overall positive experience
Bouncers were extremely rude. There were many over served people that ruined the vibe. People throwing up in the middle of the club, falling down stairs. Unsafe environment. They let way too many people upstairs to the point you can’t even get a drink. When I finally did they were over priced and not worth it.
Awesome place to hangout drink and listen to music. Good vibes
Brilliant bar really good have to go if you’re in Boston! Giving 1 star for service as the bar woman (black hair with red headband) that served me was extremely rude to me and my two other friends each time we got served, the height of rudeness it’s a shame because every other staff member I dealt with was really nice and I had a brilliant night that staff member ruined my night! Needs talking to ive never met someone so rude!
Went there for a friends birthday and they were doing dueling pianos, taking requests from the audience. The performers were great and the vibe in general was fun but chill, casual. Good mix of 20-somethings and 30-somethings, didnt feel out of place as a 33 year old. Bar service was quick and friendly. Would go back for a night out next time Im in Boston
I’ve been to different howl at the moon locations around the country so decided to try Boston last night. The audio system was so bad we couldn’t even tell what songs the musicians were playing. It was super disappointing after paying a cover charge to not be able to hear the music. Would not recommend this location.
The drinks were cheap and the bar service was good but there was a general manager going around and rudely throwing coats at people who left them on chairs. Maybe invest in a coat check or get rid of table service after 11 pm on a Friday night! Will not be going back
Howl is the upstairs part, while down night club is the basement part. if u queue for down, it’s $10 admission and u can go to both floors (u can’t go into down if u came from upstairs). down is like a glorified frat party lol, but the music is better with good remixes and throwbacks. upstairs is more chill with live music and cheaper drinks at the bar. i recommend u to join the raffle for a free party at howl to get free admission and $3-4 on selected drinks. i’ve been to howl one too many times, but it won’t be my last 💅the downside is that howl has creepy guys and they might grab ur hand, hold ur arm, or grab u by the waist while dancing, but just be aware and careful.
Our waitress Haley rocks!!! I will go back each time and personally request her because she makes this place that much more enjoyable. Music is upbeat , drinks are good.
I am not one to leave reviews unless I had a terrible experience. My friends and I will never return to this place again. We did not enjoy the live music, immature people and the rude customer service. We did not even last long enough to experience the club. I am quite positive we did not miss much. In the bar side, there were guys dropping alcohol and ice on the floor on purpose. I felt as if I was watching little children. The music was not great at all.The only positive thing I can say is probably the food. I did enjoy what I ordered to eat, but besides that it was a terrible experience. I honestly expected better since I seen so many positive reviews. ⭐️
I went on Friday night and the prices they charged me were VERY different from the prices they charged my friend (who literally ordered right before me, as a part of the same “party”). When I tried to ask them about it they flat out ignored me for ten minutes and when I finally flagged them down, they were very rude. Ended up paying an obscene price for drinks and I feel scammed.
Uncomfortable experience with a bartender- came here for the first time, bought a drink and didnt leave a tip right away. About 5 minutes later the bartender comes OUT of the bar with my tab, finds me and the group Im with, and tells me dont come back and that she wont serve me. I went back and gave her a few bucks and apologized for the confusion, but who does that? It was weird and uncomfortable and we left so she definitely got her wishBar otherwise is alright- spoke with someone very nice and helpful about clothes for the club downstairs. But based on the other reviews it seems like that bartender has a problem. Not sure we will be back with all the similar other options around
Awesome live music!! Great job accommodating a big birthday party with about 20 or so guests (planned ahead of time). Bartenders were very nice and quick. A bit bummed that the downstairs was closed but it was a Thursday
We went expecting a casual piano bar (as advertised). Instead we found an energetic pop band playing for a college crowd. Fine, if thats what you are looking for, but a big disappointment for us. I was hoping this would be a highlight of our Boston trip. Oh well, better luck next time.
Stopped in for the first time a few weekends ago. Drinks were good but the band wasnt that great compared to other piano bars Ive been to. Ill emphasize however that Ive only been once and entirely possibly it was just an off night band wise.
Waitress doing table service on Saturday night was quite rude. Regarding the misunderstanding we experienced, she abruptly confronted us made us feel quite uncomfortable. She was not very considerate of our differing cultural norms (which could have easily been solved with a polite conversation, as this was a simple case of unawareness) . Afterwards we felt too awkward to stay so we left.
Great place and music to dance and share with friends, I recommend it.
I won a happy hour here for my 30th birthday. Me and my 5 closet friends arrived and were immediately greeted by our waitress Kathleen. She was very tentative to us all night and had the best attitude! We collectively thought the food was very good and it was a plus that everything was 100% beef! The $4 drinks were a plus and the margarita was great not too strong but I had 3 of them. We had a great time dancing to the songs the live band played. However at some point in time our requested songs werent being played. This was honestly not a problem but I just want to note that. If you request a song the band will not always play it. Other than that it was great and Im enjoying my host gift. We are planning to go back on a normal Saturday happy hour, which nowhere else i have been even has that option.
I will never go back here and I encourage anyone reading this to take this to heart and not support this business.I was out with my family for my post bridal shower celebration. All in all we had a very fun time, BUT when my sister went to order a couple drinks, they took her card and gave her her drinks. She asked if she could close out and asked for her card back. They said that she never gave them a card. She proceeded to show them the pending charge to her card. They said she was crazy. Other family members were right next to her and knew that they were in the wrong and saw all of this happening. As we started trying to get her card back, there was only 1 person out of the 15+ people behind the bar that was trying to tell us that he understood. As we continued to ask them to look everywhere, they called us insane and crazy. What wonderful terms to call intelligent women, right? They continued to say we were drunk. Yes, of course we were drunk. It was closing time on a Saturday night and we had a wonderful day. We were not trying to hide that we were drunk but apparently at a bar that is a shameful state to be in.As I have reviewed more and more reviews on this place, this is not the first time that someone’s card was taken and not given back. Do not go here.By the way, we did not ever get her card back.
We threw a private party at Howl and they were amazing!!! So accommodating, answered every question quickly, provided A+ service and the band was fabulous as always! I absolutely recommend going to Howl if you want a fun night with live music
My waitress had an issue with the tip amount I gave her, not a huge bill. She had someone else come over to me to ask if I was going to tip. They actually wrote themselves a $7 tip when I crossed out the line. Save your money and find a better place.
Ive recently been back here, and this place has gotten even more fanastic than I remember. The band was phenomenal and played literally all night, absolute madness - switching between drummers and singers so there was a great rotation of songs. The bar staff was absolutely phenomenal and took drink orders quickly and accurately even though the place was roaring.Theres another bar/dance club underneath, however you need proper dress in order to get in.Drinks were a little on the steep side, but well well worth it.
Went here on a Thursday night to just enjoy a solo night out. Loved the service at the bar and the service when I later sat at a table. Both the bartender and server were super friendly and accommodating despite how busy they happened to be from a larger party that had part of the space reserved. The musicians were a lot of fun engaging with the crowd and taking song request! Was a fun time. Only didn’t put 4 stars because I thought the drinks were kind of overpriced for the quality. But then again, haven’t found many places downtown that aren’t overpriced.
Hands down one of the best clubs I’ve been to. The drinks and food were amazing. The performers were very talented and involved with the crowd. The place had literally two floors the top floor a live band and the basement had a talented DJ. I will continue to return here. If you’re in Boston I highly recommend stopping here!
Was pretty good for a bar in Boston. Me and some friends got a table and it ended up being not a bad price. Like 50 bucks a person and we got to skip the super long line. Also got a bunch of free drinks. So ended up being cheaper than buying drinks at the bar. The bouncer seemed to be getting in some problems with people tho. But looked like they handled it appropriate
RACISM is a big factor here!!!!!! If you are south Asian or brown skin, do not go to this place. Let me say that again, DO NOT GO ! And I am talking about the staff, not the customers. They will accuse you of something absurd and kick you out! SAVE your money and go to a better classy place! Where you will not be Judged by skin color!!!!!
Won a Happy Hour party. The food was very limited. However, the drinks and the customer service was amazing. Our waitress was very attentive, she was always coming back to make sure if we needed more drinks, or if we wanted to order wings. Everyone was very friendly. Our favorite thing about the restaurant was the bucket drinks, as well as the small desserts.
Loved the atmosphere, tue service was superb. The food was fresh and well made. Im so glad we spent time here.
Their mozzarella sticks are delicious! The band does live covers and is pretty good. Unfortunately the place is filled with drunk college kids which gets annoying after a while. Perhaps go early evening and leave before it gets too crowded
Band is really fun! So talented and they can do almost any song! Cover charge is $10 and they can have pretty good wait. We waited for about 15 minutes before entering so nothing too crazy. I’m pretty sure your entry stamp also gives you access to the other club part of it down stairs if you go before a certain time. The employees there are a blast. At one point one of them pulls me on stage and is just jamming out with me. Overall was a fun experience!
I’ve given this place a couple chances and, in the end, they’ve kicked our group out based on their own perception of the women members of our group. Whoever is setting the policies for the bouncers to follow is telling them to enact sexist policies. They’re losing paying customers based on these policies and alienating potential repeat clients.I warn groups containing women to be careful about this place, as they seem to send their bouncers to hassle otherwise happy clients based on their judgement of women members of the group, as an excuse to kick out whole groups to make room inside. Whether this is intentional or not, these policies end up being alienating and driving potential repeat customers away.I believe these policies come from the management of the place, and not the personal opinions of the bouncers. Unless they change the policies the bouncers are told to follow, we will not be coming back to this place. After giving it a couple chances, the policies again and again have singled out the women in our group as an excuse to hassle the whole group for sexist reasons. I recommend trying other bars in the vicinity instead.
Pretty good spot! The music was awesome. I had won one of their parties, which definitely is to get people in the door early but at least we got cheap drinks and free food! There is dancing and these giant cocktails that come in buckets with curly straws :)
Insanely crowded but the music was absolutely amazing. But it was nearly impossible to move around. Ive been to two other HatM locations, and this was the most different and honestly most fun. The crowd seemed a lot younger here, a lot of 20 somethings, as opposed to the bit older crowd that I found at the other two. This vibe was a lot more of a night club with live music, than a piano lounge with a small dance floor like the other two. It was packed though, like 10 minutes of bobbing and weaving to get to the bar from the dance floor or to the exit. Still a lot of fun, unless your claustrophobia is easily triggered
Great place! Large open space. The stage was large as well. They had a variety of singers and instruments used. I was much more impressed with this one compared to the one in Philly. Absolutely worth a stop if you have the time or youre in the area. Everyone in my group loved it and wants to go back.
They wouldn’t let me go downstairs from the bar to the dancefloor, because I was wearing “sweatpants”… I’m not wearing sweatpants… Boston has the lowest chicness per capita of ANY major city, globally.
Dropped in on a Saturday night for some drinks and live music. The cover was $10, which I think is pricey considering the quality of the music and the fact that the drinks/food themselves are expensive, but that could just be me and thats fine. Service is nice enough, not that they can be super engaging and quick when the bar is slammed. We managed to grab the last two chairs at the bar itself while a lot of other people stood or were on the dance floor. The cover band had a full repertoire of oldies and new songs, so theres variety. We only stayed for about an hour, which was enough time to drink a Hurricane out of a bucket (highly recommend, and you get to keep the bucket). Overall, for Boston, this place is fun and lively but not necessarily the place to be when youre looking for cheap drinks and good music.
Very fun but damn why are the faucets in the mens bathroom so hot.
This place is a hit or miss. Ive been there a few times and some times its great, its fun, the crowd is good, other days the music isnt that great, people start leaving early. It gets pretty dirty, way too packed for their size, and the bar sometimes is really hard to get a drink at. If you go on a good day, youll listen to great music, dance a lot, drink, maybe meet some cool new people though. Very 50/50.
The band is always amazing. So many fun drinks and the food is great. Everyone has a great time
Im from Houston and I had a good vibe club nice and listening waitresses and bartenders I would recommend it to hang with a group of friends I enjoyed myself..
Slow service, had to actively seek out the bartender to clear drinks after the table didn’t have anymore room from our empty drinks, and try giving them a call for a week straight and see if you can get a hold of anyone. Vibe was alright, but they really need to up the service side.-Edit to respond to Owner:Yes, I left messages on both the “Press 1” for manager and the “Press 2” for Sales and Events trying to get a hold of anyone, but none responded.
Always a good time at Howl at the Moon Boston! My family and I had a happy hour party and it was amazing! The staff there are so kind, welcoming, and want to make sure youre having a good time. The live music is fantastic, it gets everyone up and dancing. And the drinks and food are so good. It was a great night out and I plan on going back with my friends soon!
Great staff and music! I was there on a Wednesday so the bar wasnt busy, but the bartender was attentive and personable. The musicians were excellent and played a wider selection of music as the evening went on. Overall a fun place to go and hang out, but a bit loud so dont expect to have any indepth conversations!
I have a friend who holds her events here quite often. The bar was quite empty although they were serving free hors doeuvres. They were subpar and tasted very bland and Sandy. Then after more people showed up, probably about 30 total, a waitress, I dont remember her name but she was short and had short blonde hair came up to my friend and gave her a hard time. She said and I quote look I want to have a good night, and I want you to have a good night, and want your friends to have a good night, can you do me a favor and just make sure they ordered through me cuz your friends are like... after she walked away I looked at my friend as if to say what the hell was that?!? The band was okay I guess but there wasnt many people up there dancing. This Last Friday night.
I had won a party at Howl at the Moon in December and just recently had my party. My party was a Happy Hour party from 5-9 and even included food and free admission! The place has a great feeling to it and serves amazing drinks that anyone would love. The music is great and you can always suggest a song if you want to. I really loved the downstairs club portion of Howl at the Moon because they have a great sized dance floor and even a bottle service if you wanted to use it. Overall, a very fun place to go!
A fun bar for live music; however. Last night (Friday, October 8), the hostesses tried to steal my credit card. I handed one of them my card to pay the cover and after waiting a few minutes I asked if I was good to go inside. She said yes and I asked for my card back. She then proceeds to ask me if I handed her my card, which I absolutely did. After a bouncer came over to help look my friend shined his phone flashlight and found my card tucked away under the register. The bouncer quickly ushered us in free of charge. Probably one of the sketchiest things to happen to me at a bar. Fun place but need better employees.
Great live band plays every weekend! Awesome vibes, typically a younger crowd, cheap drinks and always a great time 😌
Young crowd with great live music. I won a happy hour raffle here and it most drinks were between $2-$4! Even with a $10 cover on weekend nights it is worth it for the price.
The upstairs dueling pianos was pretty cool. The rotating band members kept things interesting. Downstairs is a place called Down which was playing dance music and had more of a club vibe. Interesting dichotomy, but I had fun. They make some great Mules and the bar upstairs. Order one of those.
This was my first time at Howl at the Moon so I didnt know what to expect. Its like a DJ & piano performer mixed all in one. The ladies on stage were awesome as a cover band. The bartender couldve been a little more attentive when my drink was empty but the drinks were good.
This place is not as advertised at all. Honestly we went out our way to Uber there for dueling pianos. No pianos this is probably a great hot spot for 20 year Olds. Im not 20 and it is nothing as advertised. Matter of fact I believe they owe me my Uber trips back. If your 20 go...if your looking for a cool dueling piano bar...do NOT go. Save your Uber trip. False advertising
We had so much fun here! We purchased the jump the line pass which we definitely didnt need to buy with going at 6pm. The manager was very nice and bought us a round of drinks because he felt bad we had wasted our money! Band was amazing, crowd was great and drinks were awesome!!
This is just an average bar/club thing. Happy hour is nice because they give you free food, but the crowd is weird. Also I once had a bug in my drink and when I mentioned it to the bartender he didnt apologize he just took and made a new one. I was scared to drink them at that point. All of their drinks are super sugary and have no alcohol in them. Great venue, wish the drinks were better and the crowd. Also, if they email me one more time about a free party...
Fun place. Buffet leaves a lot to be desired but thats not the main reason to go. Drinks are great and reasonably priced. Not much of a dance floor on the upper level. I really enjoy the live music too
Great time with an amazing group of people, live music and decent rates as far as beverages go! Overall the upstairs is nice to ease into while the downstairs provided the real club feel.Worthwhile and fun night!
My friends and I always have an awesome time. Were typically there for a happy hour event so we dont pay a cover, get inexpensive drinks, a light buffet laugh and dance all night. Ill keep going as often as we can. Love it there.
Great place. However I will say the talent is limited with the requests. They do not play off each other very well. To be fair, I am from Orlando and our location is amazing. Very diverse in selections and songs including team work. With that said. They sound better than I ever would.
Not worth the cover. Went with some friends, the wait wasnt bad but was packed inside. Drink prices and selection were average for this kind of place. The live music was so so. After about 30 min and a few sips on a drink my stomach started bothering me and the heat from the crowd wasnt helping it so I stepped out for air. I walked halfway up the block and got a little sick in a trash can. I attempted to go back in and a bouncer pulled me out the back and told me I wasnt allowed back in for getting sick. I explained that my stomach was just upset (I was 100% sober) and I didnt want to drink and just see my friends, but they ignored me. I ended up spending three hours outside waiting for my friends and missing out on the night.
My fiancé and I had our bachelorette/bachelor party here. It was amazing ! When we first reach out just inquiring about packages and prices we heard back right away. Julia gave us all the information and was really helpful. The night of the party we had a party of about 15 people and had 4 tables reserved. The music and dancing was great, the food was great, drinks great, our waitress was great, and the bouncers were all nice and respectful. I definitely recommend Howl at the Moon. We will definitely be going back.
Fun vibe but if you go outside for fresh air they will not let you back in and don’t warn you beforehand. Even though you paid cover. Also the band sounded like bad karaoke.
I love Howl at the Moon. It is a unique experience where you can have live music at a club venue. Even if youre not into the club scene, this place has great atmosphere to sit at the bar and just have a drink. The performers play current music that you can sing along to and put on a great show. There are tables available if you want to order a quick bite and their have their own signature drinks as well which are getting better. I usually tell people to come for the atmosphere--not the alcohol--because their drinks are on the weak side and are pretty sweet, but at my last visit they did a better job. Maybe they are taking their patrons advice? Theres no where else you can get this kind of experience. If you dont believe me, give it a try.
Really fun on a Friday or Saturday when theres a big crowd. Great for dancing, the band is amazing. And Down (the club downstairs) is also fun for change of pace from the piano bar scene.
If I could rate 0 star, I would. My very first time there and I was enjoying the music while talking to a friend. Then all of the sudden, one of the waitresses pushed me very badly. She was extremely aggressive and rude. When I asked her why did you push me so badly, she said I was in her way. This is absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable. When I brought up the issue to the manager, she went to talk to the aggressive waitress. Then the aggressive waitress jumped to find the bouncers. Ive never felt so uncomfortable at a club in my life. The experience was very bad and a complete waste of my time and money.
Fun time! Good music. Pretty big college/post-college crowd. Lots of bachelorette and birthday parties. Was hard to see the musicians since there were so many people standing on the stage, but that added to the festive atmosphere.
The bar itself was good but the bouncers suck. I went out to smoke a cigarette sober at 1 AM but they wouldnt let me back in because they assumed that I was kicked out without confirmation. They made it appear as though they werent letting people back in but then let in a huge group. Not going back.
Atmosphere: great. Wait staff: super friendly. Live music: incredible. However! Their drinks are trash. Otherwise this place would have easily gotten 5 stars.
Great time--the live music was fantastic but crazy loud. Bring earplugs if youve got sensitive ears, but go for it!
I will never be going to this place again. I have never met more twisted sick bouncers in my life. Paid $60 for NYE ticket. Every other time I have been here you can go up and down to the main floor and dance floor downstairs. Apparently the only time this doesnt apply is on NYE when you pay $60 and its not written clearly whatsoever on their website. Dont even think about complaining to the trash staff if you want to stay inside. I got kicked out for calmly stating how unfair it was and the uneducated manager asked me how much cocaine I did (none) ........ very professional. I have never been so disrespected by staff at a establishment in my entire life. To top it off they lost my coat and my friends had to argue with incompetent bouncers for a hour to try and get it while I stood outside in the 20 degree weather in a dress. I will be contacting corporate for a full refund and will not stop until I get it. Do not waste your time at this place.
Its a great place to have fun and drinks with your party or yourself. The reason I gave it four star is because the last time I went to the club, right after I and my party paid to enter the club we where told that in other for us to go downstairs to the dance hall we had to go out of the club stand in another line and take another entrance, with the checking of ID processing again.. (outside was cold😙) Im not sure if this is a one time thing, because it wasnt like that before. Ill probably change my rating if I go there and its like it use to but nevertheless great place with great music. Overall you pay 10bucks some nights, for students some nights its 5 bucks. If you win a random selection thingy, it will be free for whoever or whatever number of people you invited. 👍
Came here with a bachelorette party a few weeks ago and we had fun. The live music was good, they had a band that played a lot of 90s/early 2000s music. However the drinks were expensive and they didnt have any drink specials available. We requested a shout out for our bachelorette with the band and in the 2.5 hours we were there they never did it. However, they did let the bride in free for her special night so that made it good for her.
Live band puts quite a show. Drinks are ok, staff is friendly. Can get loud and crowded.Clientele varies quite a bit 20s to 50s.A bachelorette party came through, they were having fun.Only downside, smokers/vapers outside, really, obnoxious smell.
A solid place for live music and drinks but if thats not your taste, you can always go downstairs for a nightclub feel. But just an fyi, if you go later at night go to the nightclub entrance first that way youll have access to both upstairs and downstairs with out any problems.
The pink fusion drink with the x-rated liquor was super delicious! The best part about the drink is some of the profit is donated to breast cancer research. The live music was amazing. The band and the music made the atmosphere much more enjoyable!
I always throw really fun parties here and my friends love the live bar at the top and then we always go to Down and dance all night! It makes for such a fun night and theres always something for everyone, so everyone has a good time .
The bouncers are rude. The manager is rude. Bartender is rude. It’s not fun, and the cover is expensive. There are other free bars that are more fun.
This rating is for the Nightlife scene here. This is definitely one of my top spots to go out at night when searching for large crowds and fun music/dancing. The one drawback to this place would be the line and the 10 dollar cover, but honestly what can you expect if youre going on a weekend in a big city. The upper floor is more for pop music and alt rock covers that are fun to dance and sing along to. The lower story is pretty much just heavy beats and dance songs that are blaring the entire time, its a bit grimy and sweaty down there but if you just want to dance and not talk I guess its perfect? Drinks are nothing special, reasonable prices for Boston.
Came because a friend won a party. Was expecting it to be reserved for him but it seems everyone won a party. Food was decent. I liked the chicken, but the rest was kind of meh. Cant complain that it was free though. The volume was a little too loud for conversation and the mix of people was rather wide. The syringe shots seemed to be a hit among my friends.I asked a waitress for a water and she gave me a dirty look. She brought out two waters and stared at me after I grabbed one. She thought I asked for two waters and gave me another dirty look. Overall the staff seemed to run around quite a bit and didnt seem to care if they crashed into you.
Love this place. Great live music most nights. I would talk about the downstairs but I dont think Ive ever been conscious by the time I get down there. The drink deals are great.
The musicians were very talented. However, the the sound is up way too high so its too loud. Also, the drinks are watered down. It seemed like a lot of people were having a great time, but this place just wasnt for me
Favorite bar/club in Boston. I’d go every weekend if I could. Upstairs has live music and a massive bar, great to hangout in. But the real party is downstairs after 10pm. If you like dancing and clubbing, this is the place to go. It’s a step up from Faneuil Hall clubs but not as formal as the ones in theater district which is a perfect balance. DJ plays fantastic music for people in their early/mid 20s. $10 cover worth every cent. Whether it’s a birthday, holiday, or bar crawl, I know Howl will never disappoint.
Absolute worst customer service. The waitress Rita, screamed and cussed at my party for taking pictures, lied and said only she can serve discounted drinks and said the specials end at 8pm so she would get a higher tip, screamed at my guests for giving a dollar tip for a $4 drink which is OVER 20%, threatened to kick my guests out if they didn’t pay her more, etc
Me and my friends dubbed this one of the best night club in Boston - and our go-to place for girls night. There are 2 levels. The upstairs area where they play live music. The atmosphere is usually different than the downstairs, where its more like your typical night club. If you can get there before the crowd, you can usually get the best of both worlds for one cover - just remember to get your stamp at each floor.
I left my favorite winter jacket here on Halloween. When I went back for it the next day, they were closed. I had to get on my flight home to Jersey without it :( I sent an email, and Julia Rallis went above & beyond to get my jacket back to me! It really made me happy to get it back!! Thanks Julia:)
Went for the first time last night with my boyfriend and his friend. Pretty cool place, average pricing I imagine (the boys paid for everything). There is a $10 cover just to get in, but the atmosphere and the music is worth it. The musicians that perform the karaoke are very talented and I noticed them rotating between instruments frequently and seamlessly. You can request songs from them, and the variety is pretty good. They did everything from Elton John to Britney Spears to Cardi B and even Metallica. It does get very loud in there; if you dont mind talking at concert volume then youll be fine. Make sure you get there EARLY. Like, 6 PM. It fills up very fast and people tend to hang out so finding a table takes a bit. And if you get there after 8 you may get stuck waiting in line out front.
Very nice band bringing the atmosphere up. Versatility and skills overall as highlight. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to have no-cover Would recommend to stop by if you like live music.
I was at howl at the moon last night with my friend just trying to have a good time and I leave my friend to go to the bathroom and I come back trying to find her because this place is packed. As I go through the crowd minding my own business looking for ger apparently someone complained about me and I was kicked out. I know many of you reading this are going to roll your eyes when I say this but yes, I was one of the very few black people at this bar and obviously I was far from the only one drinking. Why I was kicked out just for walking around trying to find my friend I still dont understand. Im not from here so I tried to give Boston the benefit of the doubt but I guess it has a reputation for being an unfriendly city to people of color a reason.
Great environment and one of my go-tos in Boston. They always have live music and the drinks are great. Definitely a place for college students or people in their 20s (dont bring your parents) It can get crowded later at night on the weekend so make sure you get there before 9 and I would recommend avoiding the basement level.
This is one of my favorite bars to take friends to. I have been there in Chicago and Boston, and both of them are amazing. Live music is what I look forward to, and this place never disappoints. Drinks are decently priced.
Ruined a good night out by losing my jacket and all the valuables inside. I later found a stranger wearing it inside the bar. Turns out they lost that persons jacket and gave them mine instead. The cloak room staff didnt offer any help or guidance other than sorry. The manager and bar staff was kind enough to help as much as they could.Dont trust the cloak room with anything important (especially your costly winter jackets). Place is pretty cool with good music and nice bar staff.
EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF…bouncer refused to let me in with my friends because I gave him “attitude”…filing with the better business bureau. Should be shut down for their incompetence. Will NEVER be returning .
This place was dead! Other HATM locations run specials on slower nights to get a good turnout, but there was nothing special going on. The music being played was pretty low volume. Low enough to where you can hear the stick taps on the rubber pads over the simulated drum noises.
During the 2018 Harry Potter Pub Crawl, we stopped at Howl. At Howl, we had the opportunity to enter our names to win a Happy Hour Party. This past Friday I arranged for some friends and coworkers to attend. Everyone had a lot of fun! They all loved the discounted drinks, complimentary buffet, and not having to pay a cover charge. My friend also won a party so we will definitely be back soon! Thanks Howl for a fun night!
The buckets are always fun and inexpensive if youre there with a group. The main attraction is the phenomenal live music. Some of the best musicians youll find anywhere, who can play just about anything you can think of to request.
I liked this place. We stopped in for a quick drink. Before things were really starting to happen. The staff was really nice. Im not sure if its a comedy bar or a all venue bar but it was an interesting place.
Very lively, fun place. Large, bar in the center, dueling pianos at far end of the room. Loud, but music was heard above the chatter. Very upbeat. Requests taken, (and please tip!) What impressed us was that the band rotated every few songs, so everyone played different instruments & sang. Incredibly talented band, knew everything from oldies, classics, to newer genres and brand new music. Fun crowd...we went on a Friday, it was mixed international crowd, very fun upbeat vibe, lots of dancing room. Cover is $10. Coat chek $3. On street parking, which can get tricky. Bar food-priced affordable for value. Bucket drinks, mixed drinks, and beer, but not a huge selection of craft beer. Service was a bit slow, for drinks and apps. But it was packed, so they were pretty busy. Restrooms downstairs. And there is a bathroom attendant that was sitting there, didnt offer anything, but expected a tip. Hmmm....
The bar was such a great experience with the live music but once we went to club down that was another story. A man tried to fight with my boyfriend and my boyfriend and I tried to tell the other man to not do anything since we are at a club and to keep moving but he kept insisting on fighting my boyfriend and the other man tried getting physical with my boyfriend while I was in between them and on of The bouncers shoved my boyfriend out of the club and I was dragged with them as well. First of all, I dont think it was right that the employee escorted by force my boyfriend out of the club when it was not his fault. My boyfriend woke up with blood under his armpit. This bouncer essentially assaulted my boyfriend. On top of that after I tried explaining it to your employees that it was not my boyfriends fault along with our friends who were witnesses no one did anything about it. I had to ask for the manager and even that the manager did not help me whatsoever. It felt like he literally mocked me by saying we get the same story every night really? What kind of managers do you people hire? I am very disgusting by the way this company works. On top of all that after I couldnt get any answers I went back into the club because I saw the same bouncer who made my boyfriend leave and as I walked passed him the same man who tried to pick a fight walked passed me and pushed me. A man pushing a woman and not even because it was crowded not at all. But because he recognized me and his friends told him to stop doing that. He wanted to continue to pick a fight with a girl. With me. As I approached the bouncer I told him what had happened and the fact that I was appalled at the fact that he forced my boyfriend to leave when he didnt do anything at all. I am disgusted by the way this company handles situations like that. Imagine if that man had done something more physical to me and no one escorted him out in the first place after getting constant complaints from 3 different people who witnessed everything. Howl at the moon in Boston has disappointed me with the way they handle difficult situations. This is a place that I will no longer go back to or recommend it anymore. A man couldve hit me and got away with it. I essentially got assaulted there today and not one thing was done about it but of course the bouncer made my boyfriend leave by force which is also just as bad after 3 people yelled that he didnt do anything. A worker forced a citizen out of a club for something that they did not do. I really am shocked with all that happened and am absolutely disgusted by this place. While I was in tears no bouncer really listened to me except one who had the courage to find the manager and even the manager did absolutely nothing to better the situation he simply walked away from it. I would appreciate if someone could reach out to me about this. This has been something I have not experienced before and really would want some answers.
Overpriced and Rude Workers.I usually have a great time at Howl at the Moon, but this past time I went out for my 25th bday with my boyfriend, we were not impressed. My boyfriend had a backpack on him since we had come from a party. I asked the man at the door if we could check the backpack in the coat check, and he said yes, in 10 minutes you can do so downstairs. So we went in, ready to dance and have fun, but after we ordered drinks and then went downstairs, the bouncer guy at that door directed us back upstairs to check our bag. We were confused, but went back upstairs, only to be told that Howl at the Moon was not responsible for personal belongings. That policy is fine; but what Im annoyed with is the fact we were lied to. I think Howl lied to us about the bag check because they just wanted our cover charge. The employees are extremely rude and unhelpful. We will not be returning. Not worth the cost.
Usually the music is pretty horrendous, definitely needs better DJs. As per my experience, I walked from upstairs to the downstairs venue and was allowed access. I left to go to the bathroom and was allowed to re enter. I went to the bathroom again and this time they told me I couldn’t get back in bc I didnt have a stamp (but I had a wrist band from them). They made me go upstairs and outside and wait in a line to get back. Total and udder stupidity. The employees there have mashed potatoes for brains.
Came here for a friends birthday outing and had an absolute blast - the drink menu isnt huge, but they have fun options and light choices as well (for those watching their calorie count!). The live music was a blast and the performers talented. A hilarious added bonus is the little blackboards where you can throw a few dollars down to write something on - my friends decided to announce that I was single and posted my partial phone number up there. Was a total blast.
This place is not it! Got there kept hearing the waitress complain about doing her job. Brought wrong drinks, my friend got yelled at for putting her head down. Charged for things we did not order. Kept getting looks for being minorities.
Lively and funIf I lived here itd probably be one of the places Id come for the game or Friday nightsThey do id you at the doorThere may or may not be a line to get it and a cover charge
Only thing I liked about this place was the buckets yet they where a bit disappointing, I felt like I was sipping juice and by the end of the night I wasnt as drunk as I liked to have been. The band upstairs was a bit much. The girl seemed to be in to the singing. Not a fan of the trash cans or the choice of songs. I was practically choked with a syringe Jell-O shot the waitress shoved it In my mouth no warning and just pressed it into my throat had green jell-o in my nostrils. Gets a bit messy in the club in the basement. Lots of spilled drinks and the DJ kept changing the song after a minute literally.
The live music is so much fun, and the singers know all different types of music. Great place if your looking to dance and have a good time. The bucket drinks are good too.
Great staff very attentive however the food lacks flavor. The atmosphere is pretty cool and relax. Its a good place to hang out after a long day and grab a drink.
Went on a Thursday night so it wasnt packed, but it was a lot of fun. They had a live band playing, and the bartenders were attentive.
A pretty good bar in downtown Boston near the port area. Its big and spacious. They have an open mic and piano to play on. Also downstairs they have an area to sit, drink and play skittles which can be booked for private functions.
Slow bar service, and they police any men wearing tank tops. 0/10 would highly recommend going any place else
Super cool happy hour concept! We visited this past weekend for my Bachelorette party! Fun place to hang out for a few hours. I definitely recommend for a night out.
Fun piano bar thats a nice place to grab a drink downtown. Drink selection has quite a bit to be desired and the prices could be lower. Overall a not a bad place but there is better out there.
Food is mediocre. Typically crowded and loud bar for hanging out with friends. Drink specials are reasonably priced, but drink shots can be expensive, upwards of $20 each.
Welp this would not be my top choice for fun in Boston, but Ive been here several times and itll do in a pinch if you dont mind waiting. On Friday / Saturday nights this place gets packed and the line snakes around the block. Ive had the misfortune of going to a birthday event for a friend and getting to the line past 9PM in the bitter January cold.Ive also won one of those Happy Hour parties, which as some other reviewers have described is a shameless way for them to fill downtimes. They allow multiple groups to have happy hour parties so you just have to know someones name to gain access to the limited half priced drinks and the free buffet. The Host of the happy hour gets a free gift which is basically a Howl coozie, bumper sticker and a rubber wrist band so dont get too excited. One of my friends had her bachelorette party here along with at least 6 other brides to be that Saturday night. We all had fun and they had a fun photo booth animator off in the corner. The main selling point of this place are the dueling pianos and the live music. They have talented musicians who take requests and cover popular songs. I suppose they have the bowls for you to bribe them with your requests as none of the songs in our bachelorette party were selected. Oh well! The drinks overall are alright, but nothing special, same with the food. My friends and I shared a pizza from the kitchen on a much quieter weeknight. We had a talented woman covering popular songs and serenading us in the background. That was definitely more my scene compared to dancing on a sticky floor avoiding drunk sweaty bodies / random guys looking to get lucky.
Very accommodating and friendly bartender I think her name was Melissa made the evening a pleasure.. good entertaining band with a beautiful lead singer playing mostly 80 songs
OMG!!! THE most incredible show Ive ever witnessed. I love to listen to live bands on the north shore and went here with friends that I work with in Boston and when I first walked in, I thought they were playing music from CDs and as I walked around, I relaized it was the band playing!! They were absolutely amazing. Im 56yo and danced from 7:30 to midnight. They never took even a 1 minute break. I was totally enthralled. Yes, there were many college aged kids, but I never felt out of place. I danced with everyone! Kudos to the players on 11/13. You guys rocked the place!! I cant wait to go back. The nailed every single song and had everyone in the place dancing and singing. Very crowded so beware if you are claustophobic, but I personally enjoyed feeling everyones vibes and dancing with whomever I bumped into. A must experience for anyone who loves live music and dancing til their feet hurt!
This was my first dueling piano bar. The atmosphere is lively and they do take audience suggestions. Sometimes you have to wait in a long line. The cover at Howl at the Moon also gets you into the club downstairs for free.
Cheap drinks and free food why not!!??Can barely talk and hear, but typical for this sort of place.Great music.
The performers were top notch. Theyd perform any song on the fly and do a wonderful job doing it. Bar staff were also great.Would recommend to anyone
Very kind staff! Won a chance to host a happy hour event and it was made extremely easy to coordinate. My friends and I always have a solid time. DJs can be better though.
Back for my 3rd time. Outstanding as always. Highly recommend Howl at the Moon. Musical talent is incredible. Atmosphere is great. Will definitely be back again. Wish there was one in Toronto!
Pretty clean and nice place. Bar in the center with a small dance floor and live music. Some tables to the side. Drinks are a bit pricey, but nothing crazy. Gets pretty loud and packed later on in the night.
The drinks here are really fun! Upstairs has a super atmosphere with the bar and dancing without feeling too much like a club
This place has a friendly, casual atmosphere with staff members that are so chill and inviting. The band upstairs.....😍😍😍.....(thats all, no biggie). When youve had enough of the band upstairs (which is totes impossible), you can make your way/jive your way downstairs onto the dance floor. Soooo poppin......get down with your bad self type of dancing.....like twerking shamelessly and gracefully....love it!!!! Also, its not so huge there are gaps (and you feel totally judged) or so tight and packed you feel like youre on public transportation in the morning.
My friend had trouble getting in because his id is a little old, but they had a free appetizers table and if you win one of their happy hours from the raffle, you get some nice deals for you and your party to drink.
I booked a table in advance. When we arrived the night of, they let us pick from several reserved tables which was nice. The entertainment, drinks, food and service were all amazing. The prices for food and beverages were very reasonable considering the location. Definitely cant wait to visit Howl at the Moon Boston next were in town!
This is a review for a Friday Night experience, specifically. If this place just marketed itself as a bar, itd get 3 stars. Nothing special, but not terrible. Free buffet from 6 to 7:45 (very small selection, but man those fried cheese macaroni balls are delicious), and draft beer priced at what youd expect in Boston, $6 a pop; decent selection as well. Very little seating though - embarrassingly so. And not that much floor space either. And an OK live band that takes requests.Wait... isnt Howl at the Moon supposed to be a piano bar?And here is where Howl at the Moon loses a star down to two total. The Howl franchise got its reputation as a chain of dueling piano bars, and markets itself as such as well. Yet, all that I saw on Friday night at the Boston location was a live cover band: guitar, bass, drums, and piano. They took requests, but did just straight covers - no banter, and no putting their own twist/style on the songs they played. Oh, and you cant hear the piano, because the guitar, bass, and drums totally overpower the piano.A dueling piano bar is supposed to have entertainers that can not only play music, but banter with the crowd and make jokes. Its two performers at pianos alternating between each other as the main piano, taking turns playing the songs requested by patrons, and putting their own flair on the song. Every once in a while, they might play the drums as well or something, but the focus is on the PIANOs, not the other instruments. If I wanted to see a live band, Id go to any other bar - theyre not hard to find. Here, I expected a dueling piano bar, and thats not what they offer - at least on Friday nights.
Oh damn cant explain how much fun we had at this place. The Jell-O shots were crazy and the dance floor(which is opens around 11pm) opens up all new wonders. Best time to be at this place is after 10 in the night.
Off the beaten path, yet somehow attracts more tucked-in shirts than typically expected in the Dive Bar with live music aesthetic that they aspire towards. Music is great, usually. Be careful going if you have any semblance of melanin; there will be a palpible tax on your time when ordering. Despite waiting patiently, Ive noticed patrons of less-fair complexions get passed over several times by staff, a statistic I only recognized because I bartend. Freckles? Probably a toss-up.
Fun dueling pianos bar with great live music. Staff are friendly, drinks are reasonably priced (although perhaps we were there early in the evening).
The bouncers are cool, the bartenders are really nice and the alcohol is pretty cheap for a nightclub I used to go every friday night until I started to work 80hr weeks. There is a bar scene on the ground floor and in the sub level there is a club.
Absolutely terrible and shady customer service! Visited July 20th with a group of friends, went in had a drink, friend decided she wanted to smoke, we all decide to go outside. We stopped at the desk to ask for a stamp yo get back in and were told to go outside and downstairs for one. Ok. So we went out and were told downstairs was atleast 10 minutes and a cover. Ok. So we went to go back in and were told to go to the back of the line by the doorman, Julio, very rudely, even though we had literally just talked to him. Fine. We went to the back of the line and he barked at my friend who still had a cigarette lit to smoke out of line. She said ok and sighed. He then proceeded to deny our entire group entry because she sighed at him. She and our group apologized if she offended him but he wasnt having it. Ok whatever, but problem was, one of my friends had started a tab. He asked to close him tab and get his card back, we were told to wait, 5 min later another guy came out and told us the systen was down and it would be a bit. So my friend asked to just pay cash and get his card so we can go salvage our night out. He was told no and to wait. 10 minutes later still no card and no definite answer. Finally card came out and no one would speak to us about how we were being treated. Two of my friends are middle eastern so I dont know if there was a racial component but it seems insane that we got kicked out for a sigh. Now my friend has to cancel his card because who knows who had it and if they took down his numbers, its not like that doesnt happen. Overall awful experience. We will never return. Luckily we were able to enjoy The Black Rose and Sissy Ks down the street, which are both wonderful and much more customer friendly and reasonably priced.
I love the idea of this place. Its a lot of fun and the atmosphere is great. However, the dink are bad. Just some syrup with alcohol and the food is not good as well. Its very expensive to reserve a table and almost impossible to find one on a weekend
If you must go here, arrive sloshed. Draft lines are dirty and the party cocktails are sugary and watered down. There’s a very-not-worth-it cover past a certain time. You’ll want to make sure there’s people already inside before you arrive because there’s nothing worse than the staff on stage with only a few not-so-into it patrons to perform for.
Whether you are going on a bachelorette tour, planning a birthday party or are looking for a unique place to have a dance party with friends; this is the place for you! The dueling pions paired with the circular bar stocked with exotic flavors make for a night of fun, dancing and singing.
This place is Lit if I was in college lol very young party crowd. Not a piano bar you think it is . More of a cover songs bar
One of my favorite bars in Boston. It’s not too upscale and it’s also not a dive bar. They have a large drink selection and the music is always top notch.
We were visiting Boston from Albuquerque on Sept 10th and were referred to check out Howl by a vendor on Market street. We arrived about 8pm. It was a slow night with only a dozen other patrons. We ordered a couple drinks and were really enjoying the music. At 9, I went to the bar to ask if they had any bar snacks or food, but was told they did not. I asked the bartender if there were any other restaurants nearby were I go grab something to-go, she said there was something just down the street, but couldnt remember the name. So my fiance stayed behind and I left to see what I could find. On the way out the front door, I told the doorman/bouncer I was going to look for some appetizers to bring back and asked him if he could recommend someplace close, he suggested I walk next door to Finn McCools. I walked to Finns, ordered a couple appetizers to-go and returned by 9:25. But as I entered and walked past the bouncer, the manager stopped me to tell me I could not bring outside food into the bar. I tried to explain that both the bartender and the bouncer knew I was leaving to bring back food since there wasnt anything available onsite; to which he said, We have pizza. He couldnt tell me why his staff didnt recommend that earlier, but still refused to let me enter. So I left the food at the entrance, went in to get my fiance and settle our tab, then we left and walked back to Finns where we ordered more food and drinks. The piano bar back in Albuquerque generates a tremendous amount of business for GrubHub, Uber Eats and other local restaurants that deliver. If I had known you served pizza or that I couldnt bring food back; I would have ordered in and never left; but as it stands now, Ill never be back.
Howl at the mon is definitely the place to be for a night of fun! Theres a live band, great music and you can make song requests! It was my first time there and I had such a great time!
Howl is a fun place to dance and get cheap drinks. The band upstairs is always good and the dj downstairs is great. Especially perfect for a Thursday night out!
I went to howl at the moon for a night out with my friends on a pretty busy Thursday night. I checked my coat and headed in for a few hours and when I went to leave I got my jacket and noticed a few items where missing from my pockets so I immediately asked for my items back and Emmet Wilson the coat check attendant denied that he had stolen anything but i checked my pockets before I handed him the jacket so it was the only possible option for where they could have gone I argued with him for a while until he gave me some cash to keep quite about it. But I wanted my items back so I went to the manager and told him the situation and that he had paid me to keep quite and the manager showed me my coat check stub that said they werent responsible for any clothing or items in the coat check which i found a ridiculous cop out and I continued to argue until the manager offered me more money to forget about it. One of the most unprofessional experiences Ive had at a bar so far. I also never received my items back and was eventually escorted out of the bar by multiple bouncers because I refused to leave until my items were returned to me.
The bands were phenomenal. Had to look several times to see if it was the radio. Great crowd, very diverse in all categories. Perfect for anyone.
Downstairs club is fun and bar has relatively cheap drinks!! Music is a little old school but fun crowd
Super fun and themed cocktails, super incredible band played for 90s night
