Republic is absolutely amazing!! I cannot say enough good things about this place. I go every year on my birthday to celebrate. Out of all the places in Charleston this one is my favorite. The atmosphere, the bartenders and DJ are always top notch! I would love to recognize Jamieson he was behind the bar slinging drinks and made sure I was taken care of. I love the fact that he recognized my order and made sure I always had a drink ready. Do not sleep on this place make sure to go visit them when you are in Charleston!!🎉🥂🖤🍍

My husband and I came twice during the week as we are fans of Southern Charm and Southern Hospitality. We were NOT disappointed! The frozen lemonades were delicious and the staff was extremely kind and attentive. The atmosphere of the garden was very relaxing, but at the same time made you want to get up and dance. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Went last night with a group of about 40 people who work with my husband. I ordered the frozen drink that was red not sure what is was however the drink was awful. I was on a tab but tried to tip a dollar and she sneered and said it wasn’t needed and handed it back. Ok guess she doesn’t need the money. Maybe since they add it to large parties? I ended up not drinking it and getting a Diet Coke. Don’t complain just it was so sad I couldn’t drink it. Music was good. Nice vibe and we still had a nice time. Bring ID otherwise you will not be allowed in since they actually scan it!

I guess they close the kitchen at 6pm so no food. Nothing like the show. I guess that’s not there S-Th. Also all bachelorettes and wedding parties. Thursday night during spring break last week. The night before Good Friday! Inside was closed! Bummer! Bouncer was nice and explained its really a weekend only tunnel and bridge crowd!

I’m sad to write this because republic has been one of my favorite places and I’ve always liked there vibe and how friendly they are but yesterday night we were treated so bad by the security he was really rude and disrespectful he checked our IDs and as soon as we were about to walk in he stop my friend just because he was wearing Jordan’s but yet let someone in front of us that was wearing Jordan’s go in and I asked how come he could go in and not my friend and he was rude about it and told my mom look at the clothes dress code and my mom said I can’t read that sorry and he was rude and told her look do you not see or what and my mom was respectful towards him and said sorry I just can’t see because I don’t have my glasses and just said thank you and walked away and he proceeded to laugh and start talking smack it sad to have workers like that for such a fun place full of friendly people, he could’ve been nicer and explain to us the dress code for whenever we visited next time. But I hope something is done about that security.

Went to Charleston for the first time on a girls trip, and checking out Republic was on our list for this trip. Mostly because we are a fan of Southern Hospitality. We had the best experience and the drinks were fabulous! It was a pleasure to meet the bartender TJ Dinch from the show. He checked in on us frequently to make sure we were all good with drinks! We are currently planning a trip back to Charleston, and we will definitely come back to Republic!

My first time at the club.Atmosphere and music was 100% amazing also the staff were friendly as well as very attentive. Drinks were horrible. I ordered a Margarita, the margarita tasted like a drink that somebody would make if it was their first try at making a drink. .I ordered a second margarita thinking that it would be better and it was even worst than the first one. I would definitely come back for the atmosphere and a glass of water.

Dipped into this spot before it got busy and then came back once the night had started. We had a great visit. Drinks were decent but great music and the atmosphere was cool. Definitely a younger crowd, but if you like good music - go!

We flew from different parts of the states to get together for our friends birthday! We were so excited to get the opportunity to experience bottle service at the famous “republic” which is majorly publicized on social media and television. When we got there we were surprised that we had to sit outside, but we had embraced the humidity haha and were like no big! We will still have so much fun as long as the outside vibe was the same as the inside. However, within minutes of being outside we (and I mean ALL sections outside not just our table) realized there was ZERO music! We paid for a club vibe, not a chill bar environment. Legitimately had asked a few other patrons if it was self serve as we saw our waitress maybe twice and that was after we had complained about not being served. The mixers were hot. The manager psych-o babbled me about how “he hears me but nothing he can do and he will follow up with me in a few min” we never saw him again for the entire night. Nothing was done about our situation. I explained how it was false advertisement and ultimately felt like they were stealing our money KNOWING they knew they couldn’t play music outside but STILL LET PEOPLE SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS with NO DISCLAIMER. We made the most of it and stayed until closing. Worst section/bottle experience I’ve ever had. I was validated when multiple other people in our area complained about the exact same thing. Ultimately, I think what is more upsetting is that even after all the complaints the business did NOTHING about it and brushed it off knowing that they would never see us again. Sad really.

I came here to enjoy the atmosphere and drinks with my cousin, we were shocked at the prices, $16 for 1 specialty drink?? Crazy. We ordered 1 and figured hey let’s share one before we go to the next bar. When the $16 drink arrived……. I was shocked. So shocked i had to ask the bartender if anyone else has ever complained about how over priced and small the drinks were: no. Apparently not. Apparently people are okay with being robbed. We then walked over to Charleston beer works and were offered great service and amazing friendly staff with more than reasonable prices and (might I say attractive staff) to make up for waste of money and less than worthy experience. Do not waste your money here: seriously: they are scamming you.

As a huge bravo fan, my expectations to meet bravoleberties at Republic were met above and beyond. The drinks, the atmosphere, and the southern charm were all present when visiting Republic. It absolutely made my bachelorette and also made some of my friends want to start watching Southern Hospitality/Southern Charm.TJ TJ TJ!!! - you are amazing and such a kind soul, not to mention your orange crush drink was killer. Party of 12, Friday July 12th.This was one of my worst experiences I’ve ever had with a “night club”. You can see getting a TV show went straight to their heads. We paid for a table - didn’t have a server until after midnight. Had to pour our own drinks. No music outside was ever disclosed to us when we booked. The General manager is a compulsive liar. Gave us the run around multiple times, said he would come back, never came back. Possibly one of the worst manager I’ve ever come across. I honestly felt as if they were just stealing from us. Multiple other tables voiced their displease. It was so bad that we even took it to the BBB this morning. We will be leaving review on multiple platforms. I repeat do not waste your money at this place!!

On August 16, I reserved a table to celebrate my friends bachelorette party. I had already paid an advance for all the alcohol. The floor was really slippery after a while because drinks were spilled. We asked someone if they could mop it up and he said all he had was a rag, but that it wasn’t even gonna help and proceeded to put the rag on the floor and wipe a spot. Someone was ready to go but most the group were going to stay. As she was walking out she fell and busted her head. She had to get staples. Security saw and no one even bothered to help us. Not even ask if she was okay or if we needed a first aid kit or an ambulance. We had to get a police officer to come over and help. Half of the group were going to stay. They were kicked out because the card holder was leaving, and that it was in the contract. I have read the contract and no where does it state that. I emailed the person that I had been in contact with and they haven’t even bothered to respond.

Came here twice. Tj was our bartender the second time and he is so amazing in person! And not to mention he make the best Palomas! Made my Charleston dream come to reality!

Literally had the time of our lives at Republic! It was so much fun and everyone there was amazing. From the moment my friends and I walked in every person at Republic was super friendly and ensured everyone had a great time. From door person to security, to bartenders to bar backs everyone is the best. Joe Bradley was an exceptional host, and made our night. I cannot recommend the VIP experience at Republic more. Everyone makes you feel like a celebrity. VIP is the way to go with this awesome staff.14/10 recommend

Just move back home to Charleston was there a few weeks ago good vibe service was good has two bartenders one with brown hair one with blonde did not get their names but they were great good place to go after work with friends well done

Me and my mom came down to Charleston because today is my 18th birthday. We have seen Southern Hospitality and love Leva so we wanted to come support her business. We got there 30 min after they opened and sat outside. My mom went up to the bar and asked which (of the two) bartenders she needed to put our order in with and the guy was very rude and dismissive. We got our food and it was not very good. The chicken tenders were greasy and the breading tasted like burnt scraps you would find in the bottom of the fryer. The french fries were hard but not too bad and our fried pickles were very hard and chewy. Everything tasted like it had been frozen. Thankfully, the other bartender (Rob) was great! We asked about the fried pickles and asked if he wanted to taste one and agreed they weren’t quite right so he got them remade for us. He was very nice and helpful unlike the other bartender who was there who mostly sat on his phone the whole time. Overall, I was very disappointed. I was trying to have a nice lunch for my birthday and I definitely could’ve had better food and service pretty much anywhere else on King Street.

Enjoyed a VIP night out at Republic on our last trip to Charleston. Thanks to Michols for escorting us from Bourbon and Bubbles to Republic and making sure we were well taken care of! The SH cast that we met (Joe Bradley, Maddi, and Emmy) were all so friendly and nice - they def work hard and care about guests having a good time. We had a blast and wouldnt hesitate to book another VIP table - honestly, it is the only way to do it - so worth it to have your own space and attentive staff looking after your group. DO NOT GO HERE! Especially as a POCCustomer service was horrible. We had 2 different bartenders and the second guy (short with blonde hair) came up to us with an attitude and spoke loudly. He said “ don’t leave your card in the book if you’re not gonna leave a tip” This was very rude and people started looking at us as if we’re crazy. We weren’t even done ordering. My friend proceeded to tell him that we weren’t finished ordering and he continued to be rude and dismissive about the entire thing.

What a beautiful garden area. Stopped in for a couple of bevys and wow!! Definitely a great choice. The frozen vodka and lemonade were amazing. Great friendly service!!

Absolutely fantastic place to go for a drink. Tonight I had the great pleasure of being served by a bartender named Molly. Full of enthusiasm and a delight to converse with, and everyone else made the environment an utter wonder. For anyone looking for a good drink and a fun time, this is the place for you.

Amazing service and always a great time! Absolutely love the bartenders.. they always make the experience great and provide a good time! AJ and Rob (who frequently bartend at the outside bar) are always overly enthusiastic and friendly. Could not say anything nicer about Republic and frankly all of their other owned establishments!

We had a great experience at Republic. Great friendly service and delicious, well cooked food options. We actually sat outside and had such a nice time we went back the next day to listen to the live band and have lunch. The Titos frozen lemonade is outstanding. It is not too sweet and has an addicting tartness that made a 2nd one a must! I so wish I would have gotten our bartenders name, she was great. We ended up in Republic three times over our weekend visit, two days and one evening and she served us each time. Thank you!

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. The bouncer tried to deny me from the bar because I was wearing Nike Dunks. I then proceeded to tell the 4 babes I was with that he let in before me that we had to leave because I was being denied due to the most basic shoes of all time. The manager ultimately decided to let us in because he didnt want to lose the ratio and as soon as I walked in I saw multiple dudes wearing the same shoes. After all this, the vibes were terrible due to having to pay $20 for a drink and stand like sardines.

Very disappointed especially for someone that WAS a fan of the show. Says open till 2 on a Monday. I get it’s a Monday but just say you aren’t going to be open before making the drive and it being closed before midnight. Came out on a Saturday and the girl in the bathroom was wonderful and the bartenders were great that wasn’t from the show. The people from the show seem to think they are better than you and bump into you without saying sorry or excuse me… they look angry while working and place is too small! Looks so much fun and bigger on tv. Great music but that’s about it.Overall not pleased with my experience.

Very underwhelming.-no food service at all Monday or Tuesday and Thursday thru Sunday it ends at 6-drinks ok but small for price-at 730pm on a Thursday - only the outside bar was open and not 1 person there

My friend and I decided to check out Republic during a recent trip to Charleston because we’re fans of the show Southern Hospitality. Even though we came because of the show we had an absolute blast! The Sunday that we went there was a band that was killing it-so I honestly would’ve stopped by even if it wasn’t on my list-but the overall vibe of the patio was great. We ended up having TJ, one of our faves from the show, as our bartender and he was an absolute gem! Super approachable, his version of a spicy margarita was amazing, and when some of the other patrons were getting too flirty, he made sure we were ok. Honestly, getting to know TJ made me an even bigger stan. The overall warmth I felt from him, the other Republic team members, the band, and other patrons made it a must stop on my next trip to Charleston.

Always have a blast every time I’m at Republic. It’s a great atmosphere, drinks, music and energy. The bartender, Molly Moore, is the absolute BEST. She’s always helpful, makes great drinks and is kind to all customers. One of my favorite places to go out in CHS!

Last night my friends and I went out to Republic to enjoy some drinks and have a good time before we head back to our depressing lives. I went up to order a drink and before I could even reach the bar the bartender, Tyriq was giving me the best service I’ve ever recieved. Little known fact my besties and I love to partake in a Long Island Tea and Tyriq made the best one I’ve ever had. Tyriq took his time carefully crafting this cocktail and he even garnished it with a little umbrella. I was about in tears when I received my LIT. Today I am heading back to measly gray boring Kansas, but while I am there I believe I will be comforted with the memories of Tyriq’s amazing service. 5 stars all around, Tyriq also told me he is trying to go to Dental school so please if you see him tip him well and make sure you ask him about his endeavors he loves to chat with patrons no matter how busy the bar is.

I’m so happy I made it to republic and saw TJ. He was so welcoming and we took the best selfie!We got to republic at 4:30 looking to have a drink and hear some dance music before dinner and we got just that, with a bonus of TJ.Thank you for being so attentive, courteous, kind and efficient. If youre black or have any style with shoes, do not try to go to this place. I had on Nike dunks, NIKE dunks, and they told me I couldnt go in cause of their dress code. Who tf doesnt wear Nike dunks nowadays??? No Jordans, Nike dunks, air forces, etc. but white guys were walking in with flip flops.

Had lunch out on the patio. The BLT )toasted ciabatta | tomato bacon jam | vine ripe tomato | smoked bacon romaine | dukes mayo | cucumber salad) was on point! The chips were good as well!

Bartender was extremely rude waited on everyone but us then when we asked her if we could get service she said “ not with that attitude” … watched her overcharge men for women’s drinks and she laughed like it was funny! Terrible maybe if she practiced skill vs trying to flirt she’d make $$ and be a professional

Im a local and Ive frequented this place often for many years since it opened, but I doubt Ill return. I went with a group of 6 friends this past Saturday and I was the last in the group to attempt to get in the door before being told by the young white bouncer that I couldnt come in because I had on high tops. He then opened the cordon rope, said have a nice night and let me out of the line. I sat outside in disbelief as they literally let the person right behind me in the door wearing worn out high top Chuck Taylors along with many other patrons. I was respectful, didnt argue with anyone and was dressed appropriately with a nice button down collared shirt and nice jeans (no holes) and the high tops I was wearing were $8k white Dior Air Jordans. I attempted to explain to him what my shoes were and he said it didnt matter. No high tops, have a nice night. My friends were inside with bottle service in VIP and noticed I wasnt there so a manager (I assume) came out and escorted me inside past the bouncer. Obviously once inside, I noticed how many others were wearing high top shoes, flip flops, baseball hats, t-shirts, shorts and other attire that I would expect to be prohibited based on why I wasnt allowed in. I hate to give a bad review because of one employee but the other bouncers didnt speak up so I assume this is their normal practice. I hope they will take notice and make improvements, establish a written dress code, or make necessary staffing changes. I have never been refused entry to ANY establishment so I was understandably shocked and embarrassed in front of the entire line of people waiting to get in. Im very disappointed and had my friends not already bought bottle service, we would have went somewhere where we felt welcome. I have attached pictures of other footwear and dress that were permitted inside that night for reference.I never write reviews but after seeing that my experience was not uncommon and that other people have had a similar experience, I decided to write this to hopefully prevent anyone else from experiencing the same embarrassment I went through.

The environment is really nice outside, especially on good night. The service was great. They will do whatever they can to accommodate guest. It must be said though that the reason I know this is because our food came out cold a few times. Granted, they were busy, and once the food was hot, it was actually good

TJ was unbelievably friendly and hospitable!! Went with another couple on St. Patrick’s Day and he still took the time to chat and make us all feel welcome and not just like fans! Took excellent care of us all day with such a great attitude. Thank you, TJ!!! Second time back at Republic, will be back many more times in the future!

I went with my group today, and I think all of us needed to leave a review. We have never been treated so well by bartenders and all the staff alike. We felt like close friends that were invited to just hang out. If you are looking for a place to go, go here when Robby or Beverly is working!!!

Robby was an absolutely amazing bartender and I think it was probably one of the best days I’ve ever had just hanging with friends. Republic is the place to go especially if Robby is working.

First time in the place and was genuinely so pleased with everything. Food was good, staff were great, even had a good laugh with a shorter girl working on the inside. All the reviews giving 5 stars were right.

Tyriq provided the best service I have experienced at a bar that I had to write a google review. 10/10 would recommend ordering a drink from him.

The BLT and Carnitas Nachos were delicious.The bacon on the BLT was cooked perfectly. What put this sandwich over the top was the tomato bacon jam and cucumber salad. If you’re a bacon lover I highly recommend you order this. You won’t be disappointed!The Carnitas Nachos were piled high with plenty of meat. The smoked gouda with the peppers and onions put these nachos in a class of their own. This was more than enough for 2 people but who wants to share😊Definitely a must when in Charleston ♥️

My wife and I frequent Charleston several times a year and we always try a few new places. We stopped by while walking down King St. and my wife saw Joe Bradley come out. She had to get a photo since she watches Southern Hospitality. We got drinks at the garden lounge and the bartender didnt know how to make an Old Fashioned. I get that this is frequented by a younger crowd but come on bro, you never heard of an Old Fashioned??? I wasnt that impressed honestly but the show is entertaining...

My absolute FAVORITE place on King Street! Especially when TJ is working!!! He is the best and so friendly. I dream about the frozen lemonade at night! Delicious

Greta place to have a good time. Very busy on the weekend… jammed packed the later it gets in the night. Cover charge after 10pm. Super cute garden and very good music.

I visit Republic quite frequently and truly enjoy the experience- both before and after the night gets started. Seeing some of the reviews on here makes me question the integrity of some of the reviewers and leaves me wondering if they know the difference between true lack of service or individual error/mistreatment of staff. Every time I come in here I feel welcomed and appreciated no matter the time of day, especially by people like Shane and Robby— they’re the best! The staff here knows how to make people feel special and appreciated, so it is a shock to me to see others act so negatively as that has never been something I have experienced nor witnessed at this establishment. I always look forward to stopping in and will continue doing so. Keep up the great work y’all!

Nice looking but hard to walk through (which causes traffic jams and spilled drinks all on the floor and your feet. and music was trash. No one was dancing. Just standing in everyone elses way

Shane and TJ were beyond amazing and welcoming! Shane was sweet, a genius as a mixologist and WOWd us with his thoughtful creativity. TJ was beyond charming! Highly recommend!

If you like the show Southern Charm, still don’t stop here. It was overpriced for cocktails. They weren’t made well. The bathrooms inside were half broken. So many better places to grab a drink.

Stopped in for a quick drink after work and was met by the dream team, Shane and Robby. They are super personable and truly make the place a special spot to be and are willing to go the extra mile to provide top service. Will definitely keep coming back for them!

I wish I had the opportunity to enjoy the inside of this establishment but I was immediately stopped because I had a a pair of Jordans on, not paying attention to my casual outfit which was a button up shirt and slacks , but strictly off my shoes. At the same time other people were going in with street clothes but fortunately no “Jordans”. As ridiculous as it may sound, it’s a rule by the owner. I’m not sure what this rule is intended to prevent or who it’s intended to stop coming to the club but that rule needs to be amended and caught up with current fashion standards. Our group of at-least 30 were planning on splurging but we took our business to Ink and Aura.

A beautiful afternoon sipping wine at Republic Garden & Lounge! Lucky Me, TJ was working, love him in the show and even more in person!

The place is a tourist trap. Neon purple lights, palm trees, and a guy playing club music on his laptop whilst dancing. Its nice for what it is, but feels like every other mundane club.

I was so excited to come here but tyreek was so rude, we are vacationing here and no one deserves that behavior. Everyone else was nice but him

We visited Republic on 12/22/2023 at approximately 4:30 p.m. and sat at the left bar. Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired . From the moment we arrived, the overall atmosphere was very unwelcoming . The bartenders & staff were very busy on their phones or chatting with one another, and seemed disinterested and almost bothered by our presence as well as the few other patrons sitting at the bar. We decided to stay for one drink and an appetizer and give it a chance. However, once we placed our order, we regretted our decision. The service we received was incredibly disappointing. While we approached the bar with such enthusiasm, hoping for a positive interaction and a fun place to have a few afternoon drinks and apps, unfortunately, our expectations were not met. We hope this feedback serves as an opportunity for improvement. After this visit, we will not be returning to Republic or any of its sister locations. There are several other fabulous restaurants and bars downtown who are staffed by people who value its patrons.

Shane & Rob are amazing!!! I truly hope you treat them like you do the rest of your staff. They are top tier!!!!

After one great experience i didn’t think id get one better! but oh boy did robby make that happen. he is just exactly who i want my kids to grow up to be.

Terrible experience. Asked a bartender for a 2nd shot (bottle was outside) he went all the way inside somewhere to make the shot and tried to get us to drink it???? Fishy business. We kindly declined and asked why would he not give us a shot out of the first bottle that was already outside and visible for us to see and monitor the shot being poured. He declined our service and said hes not making a new shot!! Lawsuit incoming....

As an older lady who wanted to just stop in as a fan and get a drink, I was delighted that I was treated with so much kindness from every staff member! I was so out of place, but the hot bartenders were all smiles and all but one even winked at me! Made this mom/grandma feel so good! We didnt stay long, but I will never forget the experience! Thanks so much!!!!

Staff forgot the “service” aspect of “bottle service”. Seemed more interested in chatting with each other and trying to look good than actually taking care of customers. Service level was well short of comparably priced clubs in other cities - not even close.

Staff was attentive from booking to bottle service! We enjoyed our experience to the fullest with great drink selections, awesomeVIP service & a great DJ! The music & vibe were very fun for all of our party. Seeing Grace, Joe, Maddy & Emmy (who all helped us out with our table reservation) was a bonus! They were so friendly & hospitable! Special shout-out to Maddie who helped us with our booking the night before - she was knowledgable & made the booking process quick & easy!

We were here for our Anniversary and TJ took great care of us. This was our first time here and had a blast.

Gorgeous venue that has really spiraled from a class and service standpoint. May be time to press the reset button and do something new. Its hard to maintain in Charleston between the elite, college kids, and tourists. I think my last few experiences would have better if theyd slightly reduce capacity.

The staff was super kind and very friendly.You can’t go wrong with any of the bottle girls! They were all very sweet and absolutely gorgeous 😍😍. However, I will say their attire needs to be changed. Wearing velvet dresses in the middle of summer doesn’t make any sense and had to be uncomfortable for the women to wear. Republic Garden & Lounge definitely

Trying to show my friends who are not from here a nice place to grab a drink we walked in expecting a nice experience but was immediately met at the bar with unbearable attitude from the bartender- she seems as if she hates her job. My friends presented their ID to her while ordering and the bartender proceeded to pitch a fit about our IDS not being checked at the door and refused to check them (which no one was even at the door to check so we took the liberty of showing IDs even though we did not have to ). She then proceeded to speak to my friends as burdens when taking a drink order and caught an attitude and always had something unprofessional and negative to say - for that reason I did not order from her but sent my Husband to order from the other bartender, because she did not deserve a tip from anyone ,my friends , let alone me. I moved to a different area to avoid her prude atmosphere because it filled the room. As soon as I started to enjoy myself my husband met me after returning from the bathroom and told me that a security guard was sent to follow him to the restroom and question him about our sobriety. After not even having completing a single drink because this was one of the first bars we had been to- he then proceeds to accuse me (the only sober woman there who didn’t even order a drink) of being “too intoxicated”. I gave the place multiple chances to redeem itself but it seems your bartender found a way to ruin it every single time. It is strange that she then talks about me and my friends visibly, and sends security to question us- all because she isn’t good enough at her job to get a tip from us. Get rid of the tip pool situation- if I knew the bartender that attended us after got the tip ,I would have tipped $150+ just for actually treating us like humans but unfortunately I would not let a penny of my money go to someone who obviously has a sour business attitude AND personality. I never even SPOKE to the bartender after presenting my ID and she still managed to ruin my night from afar ..

Republic was absolutely amazing, the two bartenders I had today with my group were so friendly and extremely caring towards the group. LOVE REPUBLIC!

I don’t approve of the practice of charging a cover for a bar that doesn’t have room for you. I’m paying you for a spot in the bar, not to walk in and immediately fight my way to the nearest exit.

This place, albeit small, is gorgeously appointed and always a good, classy time. It is pure hospitality and pure Charleston! The security team is really amazing too! Enjoyed our anniversary there, where we were given a bottle of champagne w bottle service! Thanks, Republic!

I am a huge fan of Southern Hospitality. I saw an article from Leva stating her Restaurants stand out from the rest and are successful because of the excellent customer service, Newsflash customer service was horrible! The bartender was very dismissive and rude, and we had to request Service multiple times even though we were sitting right in front of him at the outside bar. You obviously have to be at a certain age for them to notice you because all he did was keep on leaving us to go speak with some 20+ year old customers at the end of the bar and you could tell they were acquaintances but I didn’t see them spending any $. And we were in our 30s not that big of a difference. Biggest difference is we were paying customers. The hors d’oeuvres we ordered were not that great, very greasy and nothing original, tasted like sports bar food. We had quite a few hors d’oeuvres and drinks as there were four of us and our tab was not small. Inside restaurant was not open, but was able to see it as I went to the restroom, which, by the way, was not the best presentation. Needed to be cleaned, and there was a rag around one of the toilets, there was obviously a drip. Not at all my expectations or my standards.

The servers have not given us the time of day even though we paid for a table. Do better next time.

Went here for one drink quick while walking by during the day. Sat outside and there was maybe 5 people total there. The server didn’t say a word to us besides throwing us a menu. We all ordered one drink and then no one ever came back to check on us. Had to flag down another server to get our check. The only time someone talked to us was when they realized we left no tip. Terrible place, wcouldn’t recommend.

Was at Republic tonight and had an absolute blast. Dutch the bartender was funny as all get out and made my whole group the perfect drinks for the perfect night.

Republic is a cool concept. It touts that it’s like Tulum, Mexico -but definitely has it’s own Charleston vibe. Music was great. Loads of people dressed fab although the women (us) vastly out dressed the men. Step it up gentleman. Drinks were on the small side, but the bartenders were hella fast and on top of orders. A good mix of ages, which was great. I’d go next time I’m in town!

Was visiting from Ohio and heard about this place from my hotel. Stopped by and ended up having a great time. Staff were amazing and music was giving good vibes.

Went on a Saturday with a bachelorette party. Admittedly, it was late (around 12am) and it was very busy. Fine, that’s to be expected in a party town late Saturday night. However I was worried for my safety and everyone else’s. Are there fire codes in Charleston? I assume there must be but this establishment doesn’t seem to care. Crowd crush also seemed like a real possibly. Zero room to move, let alone turn around. $5 cover charge and told “okay go on in”, and not being able to go further than the front door seems like the time to stop entry for all patrons until people leave.Once seeing the situation I was in, I tried to turn around go back the way I came but was blocked by the bouncer who said I needed to use the exit doors inside. Took me at least 10 minutes to slowly make my way there, while being groped by drunk men who saw me as an easy target as we were already so close.Please, have a maximum capacity and implement it. I beg you.

Wow. Was super excited to check out this bar and the service completely ruined it for me. It’s pretty standard to actually be kind to guests especially when it’s slow so you can actually make money. The blonde Tuesday night bartender was extremely rude and made it obvious she didn’t want to be there- so we didn’t either. We asked her what drinks she recommended and she rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders, and then walked away. I get that weekdays are typically slower but they’re going to stay that way with service like that. We left immediately after that. Not to mention we saw her go to the bouncer after us and tell him not to let anyone else in at 10pm….

We had so much fun and such an incredible time today!! We LOVE TJ!

Horrible sat outside we were served martinis in dirty plastic cups. Bartender was less than thrilled to be there. Area was dirty and we didn’t even finish our drinks.

Not sure what its like during the day, but its a young crowd and more like a night club in the evenings. They had a dj outside while we were there and tables with firepits. Fun spot!

My biggest problem was with the bartender (blonde female). She made and placed another drink in front of me. I was surprise because I didn’t tell her that I needed another drink. She said that I told her that I wanted to order another drink after I had finished my second one. She gave me an attitude by saying “ I asked you twice if you wanted another drink and you told me yes”. She said that in a very abrasive tone. In reality, I never told her that I wanted another drink. Besides making quality drinks, the essence of a good bartender is how you treat your customers. She clearly left a bad taste in my mouth. This place is a thumbs down for me 👎

The owner Leva is a terrible person. I’d never support her business! Obviously she’s trained her bartenders to be just like her. Customer service is non existent

Republic is easily one of my favorite spots in Charleston. I went there on a Sunday afternoon check out the updates to the outside patio and was very impressed with what they did with the space.The staff is also very accommodating and knows what they are doing behind the bar. We spent a few hours there, so we chatted with the bartenders a bit in-between drinks which made us feel like regulars! We also had the opportunity to meet the manager Daniel who was checking in and making sure everything was satisfactory.Very please with with our experience! Cant wait for the weather to get nicer so we can make the Republic patio our regular spot!

The manager who has red hair to be clear kicked out a huge group of people on a slow night and none of us had one one drink before arriving. The man got power hungry and even the bouncer was embarrassed to be kicking us out. Place stinks. When the bouncer is embarrassed to be kicking us out and the bar tenders are as well. That is when u know there is a problem in management.

Nice place to grab a drink and listen to some live music! The outdoor garden is pretty and the place looks fairly new.

Smells like a stale college bar, floors are so dirty your feet stick to the floor and the bartenders are too cool to provide any kind of engaging service. On the bright side, they have a decent selection of wine, beer and spirits.

We had a table reserved outside last Saturday night. As we were entering, I let Maddi and Joe know that I had left my debit card at Bourbon N Bubbles earlier in the night, and they said they would call to make sure it was safe. Not only did they do that, but Maddi walked the 4+ blocks to retrieve my card and bring it to the table personally. That is service and was very much appreciated.We also had a fun time the rest of the night and will be back in the future!

Its alittle tight in there with no real area to dance. They seem to cater to VIP areas more so than anything. They are pricey with doubles costing $24+. Luckily we hit up happy hour somewhere else because only a few out of 10 us got something to drink due to prices.

HUGE disappointment. The pictures you see on their social media are deceiving. It definitely caters to the VIP services, and if you arent VIP, then forget it. The only dancing space is the small walking path you have between the bar and the VIP areas. Since there is no space for dancing, the bar service lacks because everyone is stuck in a weird line at the bar, even if you have your drinks. Everyone waited in line for a while for drinks to then just leave as quickly as they got in. The drinks were subpar at best, my titos and lemonade was soda water, lemon juice, and some titos... not actual lemonade. If they just added in a decent dance area for non VIP, it wouldnt be as bad atmosphere wise.

Unexpected retort when we walked in with our dog to ask if they were pet friendly. Common courtesy and politeness goes a long way in the customer service industry. This place doesn’t seem to have that.

Our family decided to get the VIP table for our daughters 24th birthday. The gentleman that spoke to us about our choice of drinks was very polite and professional. The bottle service ladies were fantastic but the rudeness from the bouncers needs to be addressed. They are there for everyones safety not to be rude and aggressive toward the females. Learn to show respect and how to speak to the females. If you are planning on going as a group of young ladies I suggest going with a few gentleman.

Who knew a rainy Sunday night could be so fun?! We were in town for an event and came to Republic for drinks afterwards. The music was awesome and atmosphere was cozy with cute photo ops. The bartenders were so sweet and fun! We loved chatting with Will and TJ. Thanks for the memories!

Came here while in town as we had previously come years ago (pre Covid) and had a blast. But now it’s lackluster and not very fun; the music had no variety. We got a VIP table and we would have preferred just being handed the bottle over the unenthusiastic presentation from bottle service. Our section/table also had trash, empty cups, etc when we were brought to it. Bathrooms were disgusting and other guests are disrespectful. The young lady at the door for VIP service was very friendly, the only positive from the night.

Dont put down your credit card! Stopped in for an hour last Saturday after dinner for a couple drinks. Checked my account days later and saw a crazy charge from Rebublic. I contacted management and asked for an itemized receipt. I was charged for 11 drinks within an hours time. And the bartender wrote in a tip nearly half of the bill with my forged signature. I explained that was not my handwriting/signature, that we didnt drink 11 drinks within the hour (were moms in our 40s ) and that they needed to check their security footage. No reply. Totally disgusted with being taken advantage of and nothing being done about it. I tried to give this business the benefit of the doubt by contacting them privately but it was not handled professionally. Ive never written a review like this before but this was so wrong.

One of my favorite night life scenes! All the girls and bar tenders are super nice. The lines do get very long, so I suggest going early if you have a large group. The music is on point and you can tell by the crowd everyone loves it. I highly suggest splitting the funds for a table. The patio is fun for a Sunday funday

I have to honestly say my family and I had the best time at Republic. The atmosphere was very uplifting and the bartenders were so pleasant and extremely engaging as far as conversation. TJ was our bartender for the night and he was on top of his game. He made sure our experience at Republic was a memorable one. We will definitely be back!

The older, unfit, white male.. Urged the younger guy to upsale and double charge my tab.. When the kind, honest kid said NO,.. frustrated, the large older man, rang me up, when I questioned and called him out (because I did NOT order 2 of said drinks) I wasn’t gonna argue the other ones.. He tried to say “My friends” drink equals 2 Long Island Ice teas… Also False! Watch your tab closely… They are Dishonest, And will add money to your card! If you must go, strongly recommend only pay cash, and don’t think you are going to relax and open a tab! You will be taken advantage of!! I tried to get the past all the rumors of this place drugging and robbing people… But… 🤷‍♀️ watch what you drink, who and how making it, and what they “charge” you! Stay safe!

I have long aged out of the club atmosphere. That being said, going to Republic before the younger group arrives and on week days is very enjoyable! The staff are attentive and remember my go to drinks. The remodel of the outside is great!Robby, Matt and Claire are absolutely fantastic!I have been somewhat regular since I’ve moved to the city, and look forward to visiting more.

Republic was an amazing place to have my bachelorette party. Joe Bradley was absolutely incredible with accommodating our party, and even got us a table again for the following day. We had fantastic, quick service and we were never left without a drink in hand! The music was fantastic and the entire vibe was so much fun. We are definitely looking to come back to Republic next time we are in Charleston.

Coming to Charleston I was overly excited to try Republic… I won’t come back after how I was treated by the blonde bartender this Tuesday night. I know she didn’t want to be there since it was slow, but it was really disappointing to ask her what we should get and she rolled her eyes at us and walked away… hopefully no one else has that same experience. Will not be back from out of town unfortunately

How funny that I came here to post a review, and on all of the bad reviews I read, jmwalker always has some kind of comeback for everything. Saying well you did this or you did that....a little more professionalism would go a long way! Online and inside this club. Wont ever be returning.

Stopped by Sunday afternoon (Oct 9 2022) to get a drink and some apps. It was pretty slow, grabbed a table in the patio are and sat there for about 5 minutes. Both bartenders and a server sitting at the bar in the well area were on their phones and completely ignored us. Just got up and left. Gave it a 2 star for service alone, food and drinks may be great, but will never know. Southern Hospitality was no where to be found on this day, unless you were a cell phone...

Had an awesome night here with some friends who came in town! Great lay out and music! Enough room inside and out for there to be a good bit of people but never waited long for a drink! The staff was great and attentive but especially Matt! He kept the energy up and always seemed to pop up when we needed refills!

After, a friends recommendation, I decided to visit the club. However this Saturday night, I had a horrible experience. I have never been one to blame a persons wrongful actions against me based on the color of my skin. Though last night was blatant hatred. When I arrived at the establishment, I had every intentions on having a charismatic fun night. I was greeted by a bouncer telling me that I was not allowed to wear dunk lows and a t-shirt. But, just right in front of me a white gentleman had on the same dunk sneakers and a t-shirt mind you we were both wearing dress pants. When I asked them what was wrong with my attire he said hes fine you are not. The bouncer said he felt bad and that his owners had been enforcing a stricter code. I asked him if his owners were in quote “racist” which he replied “yes” but “there was nothing he could do”. I hate to see things like this especially being that this is co-owned by a African-American man. I hope this is not the way that all clubs in Charleston run their establishments. If so I hope they cross train their employees to not admit to their blatant racist actions.

Republic is one of my favorite Charleston spots when it gets warm out. I love the vibe they have created outside and it’s just a great place to have fun with friends.Their staff is always beautiful and friendly. Kaitlin was very attentive and was super fun. She made me and my girlfriends experience there a 10/10.

Republic was such an outstanding experience this past weekend! Our VIP service was unmatchable and made the vibes extremely pleasant. Annalise and Eva took very good care of us, making sure our table had what we needed at all times. They even gave me some really cool face jewels! Drinks and music were fire, 10/10 experience.

Stopped for a drink at 4pm on a Sunday. Visiting the area from Pawleys Island, where we reside. I’m middle aged, as is my friend. Everyone else here is younger, which is fine. Got a “look” from a worker with a backwards hat in the garden area who was cleaning tables….Very rude bartender. Too many nice bars with friendly bartenders and excellent drinks in the area to waste time here. First and last visit.

We were here tonight - 12/30/22. The bar staff was friendly - I’ll give them that. I was walking to a table to seat my friend who needed a seat and a glass of water (after they took her seat away due to fire reasons). I happened to politely ask an elderly couple - the lady of which was wearing a $5000 Burberry wrap - to seek access to the other side of the bench. This was at 8:30 pm. They politely obliged, and I was promptly told that my friend has to leave the establishment.I am white. I have been inebriated in a thousand bars across this country and many others - and NEVER asked to leave. Additionally, I requested that my friend be able to use the restroom (which any establishment serving food and or drinks is legally obligated to provide) - we were denied.It saddens me deeply that in such a “progressive” area that Charleston claims to be, this type of overt racism persists. I’m beyond disgusted and feel it is my duty to report this heinous profiling to the public.Conveniently, the bartender was not able to provide me with a business card with the GMs info as I paid our tab. Should he have done the right thing, perhaps this would have occurred in private and proper amendments agreed upon and pursued. This convinces me that these policies come from the very GM himself.Please don’t patronize blatantly racist establishments such as the Republic. It is 2022. We can give our money to people who are actually trying to be decent. May you, and any like you, be relegated to the dead past where you belong. I’ve contacted my attorneys - expect a subpoena.

Sunday night we stumbled upon this hip place called Republic which is located on upper King Street. The music and the loungey club vibes made our night with a chill night experience. But it wasn’t all about the ambiance of the Republic bar. The staff are one of a kind. Robby our bartender created these delicious cocktails for us. He also was very informative with recommendations here in Charleston. Great bartender. His sidekick Kyle was great and funny too.

Do NOT go here if you’re a person of color (especially if you’re Latino). Fastest way to get kicked out for no reason. Bartenders outside were terribly rude and discriminatory.In response to the owner’s comment:The owner was not there for the incident, and it is no different than tapping your shot glass on the counter before drinking it. It is also a very cultural practice as well. I did not “slam” anything. I was also NOT asked to kindly leave. I was told to “get out of here and go somewhere else.” I was then forcibly removed by multiple body guards. Maybe the owner needs to check his employees and their stories before siding with them just for the sake of protecting their image.

I have been to a lot of clubs over time, but definitely highly recommend going to Republic if you are looking for a place to go. I had Joe Bradley help take care of everything I needed. All my friends and I had to do was show up and have fun. I could not thank him and the staff enough. Joe went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time, definitely a trip that will never be forgot!

Republic is one of the best options for a night out in Charleston. The atmosphere is comfortable and always vibrant and whether it’s packed full or not, you’re sure to meet someone new and have an exciting night. Their staff is incredible and Joe in particular has always made me feel so welcomed and made sure I had a good time! Definitely a must visit when in Charleston!

Friendly and knowledgeable bartenders considering even though there was a lot of people there they were very attentive. Music was great sounding on the inside and the outside had a live band. Group of people with a mixture of different ethnicities everybody seemed very friendly and having a great time. Security seem very attentive and very aware of everything going on with made everything feel very safe. The exterior and interior of the place was very nice You definitely need to make it a spot that you go visit and check out when you come to visit Charleston or if you live locally in the area

Love going to republic on a night out! The atmosphere is fantastic and it’s always a great time! The bartenders are so awesome, especially TJ! He always has such a welcoming smile and is able to make you a drink quickly despite a super crowded bar!

Republic G&L is one of my favorite places to go when I am in The Holy City. I am super excited to stop by this spring/summer and see the new renovations to the patio area. Music is great. Ambiance is fabulous. Staff is extremely friendly. If you ever find yourself at Republic - definitely ask for TJ! He serves the BEST cocktails - strong & delicious. He’s also not bad to look at! ;)

This place was great! Visited last weekend for a Bachelorette trip and we chose the VIP area/bottle service package. It was well worth it and nice that we had the private seating area and servers to help make us drinks. We also loved the guy who guarded the area. He was really helpful and nice to us plus he was awesome stopping the guests who tried to break through to come in VIP. The staff were so nice and the staff out front as well. Definitely recommend coming here!

My two friends and I visited early in the evening on a Tuesday and had the best time of our visit to Charleston - main reason was Brett at the bar!!!It was the night of a tornado watch and the local weatherman advised for those without basements to “take cover and wear helmets”. …. After we shared this with Brett, he went into the back and came back with 3 helmets - a storm trooper and 2 astronauts’ helmets.Also highly recommend the lemon slushies!!! Dangerous but good!First class service and the highlight of our week in the city!!! Thank you Brett.

Was in town for a reunion weekend with high school friends. Republic was the highlight of the trip! The promoter Joe made everything super easy. Showed and and got shown right to our table. Service was incredible and we had a blast. It’s the place to be!

I’m not usually a big club gal but I’ll make an exception for Republic. Great music, patio, and the best staff. The team at the door is friendly and professional and the bartenders are pros- especially TJ! I’ve never waited long for a drink, even when it’s crowded. Definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a fun spot on King Street!

Rating 3/5 for many reasons- the atmosphere is beautiful! The outdoor garden was great and had so much potential! The greenery wall was so cute and fun! But the vibe sucked. Very unfriendly staff, drinks were served in plastic cups even for the nice craft drinks (old fashioned or neat bourbon) and overall was not a good experience. We had one drink and felt the vibe drop and dipped. So much potential to be a hot spot, but unfortunately I would pass by.

Such a fun spot to come grab drinks and network! Definitely will be coming back!

As someone who comes from a big city to spend their money in Charleston, this place is not “Southern” and has no “Hospitality”. Keep all that in LA.

Love this bar! It’s such a fun vibe and atmosphere. All the employees are super friendly; we have a favorite bartender, TJ, who is always on top of things and never too busy to pay attention. Oh and I love the outside area, the decor is spot on!

This spot is and has been my go to on King St for years now. Nice crowd mixture of grown and sexy professionals along with everyday working 9-5ers. The bartenders have great personalities and great pouring skills. The bottle service is top notch. Even with a crowd no one is considered to be a stranger. Thats when you truly know that a business is serving its patrons because everyone is comfortable and welcome. The food is delicious. The music is awesome and keeps you moving from the line prior to entry until the lights come on at nights end. The patio bar area is nice and makes you feel like youve gone to another bar but youre just on the other side of this hip King St favorite. I suggest you visit this Charleston staple whenever youre in town I promise you wont be disappointed.

This quaint spot had a beautiful outdoor area with hip relaxed vibes. They had live music and quick service. We ordered a frozen lemonade (alcoholic), an appetizer sampler, and the southern chicken fingers. Over the food was pretty good. Nothing terrible but nothing amazing, just satisfying. The atmosphere is what set this place apart. If youre looking for a nice place to enjoy drinks, this is your spot.

Came here for my friends bachelorette and had the best time ever! Joe was so friendly and made sure the whole group of girls was always having fun. The atmosphere and music was always amazing, I’m coming back in July for another bachelorette and this is a must do!!!! Best drinks and service!

This is one of the spots to check out when you come to Charleston. They have an indoor and outdoor area. I believe the indoor opens up at 9pm. BUT you wont be just sitting outside with no entertainment. The DJ was on point and the bartenders kept everything flowing smoothly. One DJ outside...one DJ inside. Never go here. Ordered 2 drinks and asked to close out and got completely ignored by the bartender on Thursday night with thick glasses, so I went to the other bartender to close out, I purposely took my receipt only to see republic add a larger tip and drinks to my tab. Super rude and unprofessional and will never be coming back to republic and please keep ur receipt because they steal.

Lively atmosphere with attentive bartenders. Definitely a great spot for a group outing or celebration. The inside area is bigger than I expected. It is more of a “clubby” vibe with lots of people, but with enough staff to ensure you aren’t always waiting for a drink or service.

Came to Charleston with my husband and this was by far our favorite place that we visited. That staff was so friendly and informative. They told us about green tea shots and weve not stopped drinking them since. We are definitely coming back the next time we visit Charleston!

Its a nice bar but doesnt quite live up to the hype. I enjoyed the patio atmosphere, live music, and lounge style. The service was decent but the bartenders were very slow, even with only one or two other people at the bar on a weekday night. The drinks were good but took too long to get out. Overall I enjoyed it and will be back.

Our server Kaitlin was super good! She helped us with our table as well as everything we needed to enjoy our night. Kaitlin is by far the best employee i have come in contact with at Republic and everyone that goes should request to have her as your server! 5 star service

Republic is one of my favorite bars in Charleston. Always great music and such a cute outside patio. The cocktails are amazing, especially when Britney, Matt and Robby are behind the bar. Definitely the perfect place for a memorable night out.

Had the best time here during my trip to Charleston! Shout out Joe Bradley for hooking us up with a great table and taking care of us all night! The DJ was absolutely crushing it. Lots of good vibes here, definitely coming back next time im in Chucktown.

Pretty cool lounge to visit while in Charleston, however I am giving it 4 stars because it felt overpacked on a Saturday night, even sitting at a bottle service table.

The place has a good vibe. The only problem was that they do not serve food after 7pm. Not even appetizers. There for the 3 stars. Went there at 9 pm with my friends to chill but to our disappointment they stop serving food at 7pm.

Was extremely disappointed in the fact that even when I was already tipping for bar service, I was told it was not enough and that I needed to tip more to get service. The bar staff refused to serve me after the first 3 beers. I was told by a man with long curly hair that I needed to tip a minimum of $5 per beer. I was appalled. Especially since it was a busy night and it was evident that as I was buying 3 beers at a time, no one would tip $15 for 3 beers. Will not be coming back. Ill stick to the Silver Dollar just down the street. They are much more accommodating.

Bartenders were super cool, food was great, and music was bumpin. We went back for round 2 later on, and there was a different bartender who was pretty rude and grumpy, so we had one drink and left. Ill give it another try the next time in town.

My besties came in town for a visit.. I am new to the city and didnt know about this place. Our tour God Mr. Godfrey told us to visit this place. Nice crowd, good food, atmosphere and music was on point!I would have liked to have seen a little more diversity in the room but thats just me..Overall it was a good experience though.

Bartender with brown hair (name possibly Steve) at the outside bar is awful! Gets in girls faces and very abrasive… would never have a bar tender working at my business like that. Stay away especially large bachelorette groups!

The patio isnt bad for happy hour besides that if I owned this place I would be humiliated to admit to it. Besides being way over capacity on a Saturday night where nobody could move there was NOT one single working bathroom stall in the womens bathroom never mind the leaking ceiling all over the floor. I have zero clue why the health department has not shut down this hole!

I always have a great time here day or night! By far my favorite club in Charleston when I visit. The staff is friendly and quick! Robbie was a tremendous help with all questions my friends and I had! 10/10

Visited Republic twice while I was in town for a girls weekend. The first night was a weekday and drinks were great nice atmosphere. Saturday we came back and had purchased bottle service. Gotta say not worth the money whatsoever between about 7 of us we spent over $150/+person for 2 bottles. The mark up on the bottles completely understandable/typical, whatever. The bottles however were locked in a box when a service girl was not there to pour drinks. So every 30 minutes if we were lucky we would get a drink poured for us or we would have to go find someone. Also somewhat out of the control of the BAR but there was a group of older men with the same service next to us and they not only bothered us persistently they were upset they were not getting attention from us and got in the faces of many of the girls. Would have like to see someone other than the 21 year old bottle girls get involved or step in. Now I understand people are drinking and its late but being sober and mid-30s watching everything happen throughout the night. The best way I could describe Bottle Service/VIP access is Ghetto. Wouldnt do this again. Was just trying to have a good time with girlfriends but couldnt wait to get out of there.

GO SEE THE LIVE MUSIC!!! I went last night for their Sunday night band and it was great. 7-11pm, would recommend. The vibe overall in the garden is very welcoming and warm (literally, even on a cool night), its nice inside too but I didnt spend much time inside. If Im ever in Charleston again, Ill be coming back!!

I attended Republic for the first time last Saturday to a completely fulfilled experience! It was a great time and we were well taken care of by staff. Music was fun and great and could still talk to friends. Robert checked on us upon arrival and again later in evening to make sure we were taken care of and having a good time. Was very kind and genuine! Great place to socialize, relax, unwind, have fun and altogether a great evening! Will be a new, regular spot for me and will bring more friends back!

Splendid patio when we visited this Saturday. Had a great time listening to DJ Dolla Menu and DJ Curry! Great spot to day drink with DJs. The bartenders Brett and Robby were excellent! Will come back here 100%!

Bartenders outside were not friendly at all. No service/ people skills. Inside looked dirty and unkempt . Will not be going back, would like to be in a fun atmosphere while in Charleston, this place is not that.

I was here for a bach party and they kicked everyone out at 1:30am. We showed the staff the Uber was ordered but they said they had to go bed and wouldn’t let us stay for 5 mins which would have been before 2am as advertised. There were other patrons at the bar and when we were forced out on the street a former bouncer told us that only “locals” were allowed to stay. It’s false advertisement and I honestly have never been treated so rudely.

This was the last stop on our mixology tour. The drink they served us was spectacular (my favorite on the entire tour). The inside was closed to other patrons at this point so our group had the whole place to ourselves. Looks like it would be a trendy place for the nighttime crowd, but we couldnt get over our shoes sticking to the floor every step we took. Guess they hadnt had time to clean it from the night before. Glad it was part of the tour but its not a place Id go to independently.

Rob and Marquis were such great bartenders. Really terrific service and made really great drinks. Surprisingly, the acrylic glassware was perfect for the windy weather

The place where tourist go and college kids. Because they watch a reality TV show and they think this place is like Vegas or Miami. It’s not and it’s not by a LOOONG shot. I can think of better clubs/bars and better cities.Tourists and college kids have ruined Charleston.

What’s the dress code policy because it seems like it’s always a different code every time my girlfriends and I try to come and have a classy , luxury night out i don’t wanna believe you guys are you know what the “R “ word because we definitely looked and was up to par and everyone else white ! Was allowed in so please can someone inform me because I’ve always wanted to come here but now those dreams for me may be noGo this is the 4th time !

I have spent many nights in Republic over the years and it never disappoints! Atmosphere’s great and the staff is some of Charleston’s friendliest (Joe is always super responsive and helpful). I would highly recommend Republic to CHS locals and tourists alike.

Great little place to set outside in the sunshine, quick service, great choice on the drinks menu and friendly and welcoming staff

This was an alright club/bar in downtown. The exterior bar was much more enjoyable since the indoor area was too packed with stupidly placed roped bars all over the place to prevent people from dancing which is the opposite of what a club is supposed to be! Beer prices werent half bad though and service was solid.

Great vibes! Good music, great staff, good drinks! The Dee Jay was excellent. And live band got folks moving. Whatever the bands singer lacked in pitch, he made up for in energy and straight rocker presence. Definitely a way to end the night on King.

Love republic!! Always have a good time here. The outdoor patio is perfect for a nice Charleston day. Ask for the bartender Robby- he’s quick, friendly and has a lot of bourbon knowledge. :)

We arrived on a Saturday night at 10:30, paid $15 for the smallest drink I have ever been served, and then a large bouncer dude came through and screaming bar closed get out. There was still 30 min until the 11pm stop serving rule. I visited 10 bars during my weekend and this was the worst. 3 stars only because of the nice outdoor seating, pricing, service and mgmt get a 1 star. Hopefully The Republic reads this and improves for my next visit to Charleston.

I have gotten table/vip service twice now here, both times spectacular. My bottle service was provided by Annalise and she went above and beyond to make sure our time there was comfortable and she was always attentive.

Republic is one of my go-to Charleston spots. Such a cool space & an awesome atmosphere. It’s hard not to be in a great mood when you walk in - the energy is so fun. TJ (bartender) makes an absolutely incredible margarita.

Dropped by Republic on a Saturday afternoon. The bouncer and the bartender were nice. The drinks were nice and the music was top notch. We left around sunset but it was clear this is more club like environment.

Favorite bar in Charleston! Love their outside patio and the djs always kill it. Matt and Robbie are outstanding bartenders and great guys. Highly recommend to anyone who lives here or is visiting
