This is a great place to dance for beginners to competitive dancers. The floor is huge the music is great and the bar is inexpensive. With a bunch of different styles you can find something you love and the people. The people make the experience that much better. Some of the friendlest people I have meant in my 10 years in denver.
This place has a wonderful classic wood floor you can dance on all night in comfort. It has an entry room for comfortable shoe changing, a bar facility in the main ballroom and a generous sized stage. Plenty of options for natural ventilation.
Great old building for events. Unfortunately the AC is out for the event I attended so it was rather uncomfortable in 90 degree weather but we still had fun.Theres the upstairs main dance floor that has a stage in the middle and a basement dance floor as well so you can have different music at the same time if you like.Parking is limited if you are having a larger event so be aware that could be an issue.Could use an update and some minor fixes to make the building more attractive but in all a solid venue.
Great community! Love the open dance floor, super kind staff, and variety of classes.
Lovely historic building in downtown Denver that hosts weekly ballroom classes and social dances in a variety of styles. Membership is required, but only costs $15 a year. Fees to attend classes and dances are very affordable and vary by style/instructor.
Wonderful tango community in Denver - highly recommend!
The place itself is good. We had an all day dance showcase. If you have something like that make sure to bring your own food and drink. Theres nothing close and no vending machines.
Social dances in various styles on different nights of the week. Usually has low cost, sometimes free lessons for beginners, and more advanced lessons offered frequently too. Has its own parking and a bar. Excellent large dance floor, friendly folks, in an historic building.Recently (June 2022) requires membership, but thats $12 for a year, so not a big deal. You can attend one dance as a guest without being a member though, so you can try it out.
I have been dancing at the Turn for many years. I love the venue, the dance lessons, and the fact that the building is a historic landmark. They offer a variety of dance styles depending on the night. I recommend learning to dance at the Turnverein!
This is venue for Tango On The Rocks annual festival. The venue has a very large dance floor upstairs and another downstairs a little smaller. The floor quality is really good and the patrons and teachers are very friendly.
Beautiful and spacious wood dance floor, very old elegant dance floor wirh a lot of history. Has 2 levels to hold 2 simultaneous milonga events abd tango classes. Perfect venue for our annual Tango on the Rocks 3 day , 3 night festival
I had a great time at the Wednesday night salsa lessons and social dance! The bachata teacher was not there, which was slightly disappointing but a quick explanation made it better :) it also meant more partners for the salsa classes! The instructors were patient and engaging. I loved the concept of having everyone dance with everyone at the beginning of the social. It is encouraging, kind, and a great way to break the ice.The venue itself was well ventilated, with the AC going to keep us from being sweaty swamp monsters. The floors look well kept and my toms had very little friction, and my knees are thankful for it 🙏🏽 there is a cash bar and water was provided for free. Definitely worth the $12
The turn is a marvelous, non-profit community-run place for social dancing. Nice big dance floor and lots of excellent teaching. Great West Coast Swing, tango, country, Lindy Hop and other dances. Handling COVID-19 very responsibly!
This is such a lovely and special place. Ive attended swing lessons, weddings, and farewells here. The large ballroom and downstairs halls are very nice. I wish there was more parking, however this type if venue is very rare and I will always support these types of businesses and historic buildings.
Really old place, an icon. Almost 99 yrs old. The dance floor is kept up nicely. The womens bathroom is really different with old fashioned couches but clean. There is a small parking lot but it fills up quickly.. Maybe after there 100th birthday they could update the place and make it warmer feeling atmosphere for patrons.
Excellent venue for dancing. Brandon and Shanas class was so fun. They are both amazing instructors. Cant wait for the next time!!
The Turnverein has a great dance floor. It hosts many types of dance events. It has a small bar and plenty of free water too. Its a beautiful old building and does have some free parking if you go to an event there.
This social dancing club is a fun time! They offer a variety of different dance styles, and have lessons at the beginning of each dance night. I have learned so much and have really enjoyed getting to know the people who attend. Everyone is very nice!
My husband and I have been going to the Turnverein since we were sophomores in high school and had just started dating. Its such a great place to go as a couple or with a group. Everyone is always super friendly and happy. The music is great and the atmosphere is awesome.Parking always kind of sucks and who really cares when you only have to pay $7 to go dancing. Plus the free lesson from 6-7 is super helpful. We love the Denver Turnverein and will continue to go there until were to old to dance anymore. :)
Great dancing hall near downtown Denver. Gorgeous space with lots of mirrors which is helpful when youre learning (or just people watching! ). Theres a handful of parking -- not enough given its approximation to the Ogden (immediately behind), the lot will most likely be filled, but if youre lucky you just saved 4 blocks of walking.Theres lessons with dances following most nights of the week, open and welcome to beginners and quite cheap even if youre not a member. There was even a bar!I think the whole place is cash only, hit the ATM first.
Usually there’s a pretty high turn out, but just like most dance classes, the men to women ratio is usually uneven, so someone gets left out, usually 1 or two women get left out, but doesn’t happen every night. I recommend bringing a partner but don’t feel pressure, because they will make it work. The instructors are talented and they make steps easy. Super affordable. Every so often they’ll have free lessons, but I don’t think I’ve paid more than $7 or so. They also have memberships. Live band. Salsa, swing, country, tango, dance specials. Check the website.
Great place to dance! Friday evening Lindy Hop dance is my favorite, but there are different dances almost every night. Check their website for your favorite. On Friday nights the beginner dance lesson is free and always a lot of fun.
Best dance floor in DenverThey have dancing every week from Sunday to Friday, and most Saturdays. Something for everyone. Bring your friends, family, co workers! Its a different style of dance every night. Friday night Lindy Hop is the best!
Large dance floor. Very friendly people To dance with even if youre new and learning.
Wow this place looks amazing! A historical relic among the modern architecture adding color and mystery to the diverse culture that is Denver city!Or so I thought...Its a shame I dont get to enjoy or share that passion for culture and movement as this locations website implys.I had carefully prepared my COVID-19 record card and waiver (that was provided on their website as of 7/13/21) regarding dancing in close quarters.I was ready to sign and sign up a day ahead as I didnt have my dance attire as of yet. There was no indication that this club was one of those entery by invite only type of clubs. But they do a great job of defining club here once you step in.A receptionist will do her very best to squint in your general direction and let out a disparing sigh that you arent one of their lovely club members. If you dare approach all requests for applying or signing up for future classes are not possible for today...In advance...or maybe possibly the dance instructor can sign you in on the day youd like to attend.Thank you for defining a new club for me where all who have been asked to come are welcome to stay, and those that dare to ask are artfully told to GO AWAY.If it were just a bad day from the receptionist I wouldnt have been so sure. But the club members helped me understand Id intruded on their club by cutting in front of me, whispering to their partners as they walked in to sit glancing back in my general direction as if to check if the unheard of had actually happened, and some even asked me to please step back in line with grins of amusementIt was clear all had read the fine print. This is a club for those who you know. So if somone you know goes there sure, ask them about it and get invited. But if you like music and dancing and finally getting a chance to practice. If you simply enjoy a more formal dancing style and wish to test your feet at it neat. However leave this club alone because all they have eyes for are who they know.Ill go elsewhere because now I know.A wonderfully aweful experience (-5 stars if I could). I hope things get better and more inclusive in the future. But who knows...
Great place to dance West Coast Swing on Sunday nights. DJs are hit or miss, but thats not the venues doing. Beautiful location, ample parking, and lots going on every night of the week make this a local favorite in the dance community.
If youre a dancer, and love classic ballroom such as waltz, foxtrot, cha cha, West Coast swing, there is no better place in Denver than the Turnverein. Dance classes and open dance in elegant surroundings are available every night in the week. Ive enjoyed membership for four years now.
Wonderful hall with a bar, unfortunately no live band for the social dance - but Ive only been once so maybe they have live music at other times!
We take the Wednesday night lessons and love them.
I cannot give the Turnverein enough praise! It is my favorite salsa venue in the Denver area. $5 admission for members, great teachers, and fun people. It is incredibly easy to meet people there and you will quickly establish a group of friends :)
Wonderful place. Great place to dance and learn how to dance.
Such a welcoming and lovely place! Best dance space I’ve seen in my life with beautiful people ❤️
Wednesday night salsa class is pretty fun! $10 per person for non members and $5 for members. Depending on skill level some teachers also request an extra fee.
This place is WONDERFUL!! They have a variety of dance types and offer an affordable membership to make dancing available to everyone. The dance floor is amazing and the board really cares about making it accesible. I highly recommend!!
In town visiting my daughter and came here for a lesson. Fun, cheap, and friendly. At 55 I was a youngster. At 27 my daughter was laughing. The on-line schedule is useful. Parking is good. Highly recommend.
Good Balboa and Lindy Hop.
Great place to dance. Lots of classes, plenty of opportunity to practice. Beautiful venue.
Great place to take your sweetheart or just yourself for swing dancing on a Friday night. Check out their website for other dance types and times! Free parking!
A great way to spend a few hours. And maybe even improve on your mad dance moves!
Matt Gregory is an amazing dance instructor. He was able to teach my fiance and i, both very uncoordinated people, how to dance. Our first dance brought tears to many of our guests eyes.
I first learned how to dance tango Argentine there they also offer all kinds of dances it turns 100 years old this year great old building!
Love the atmosphere - high ceilings, Big windows and old wooden floors. Im not sure what contributed to the joy of being there more; the colorful dancers, the atmosphere or the smooth instructors.
Great place. I go Wed for salsa. I bought the yearly membership to save money since I open on going often. $12 for the intro class with membership. $5 more the next level.
Its a great place to dance. People are friendly and there are a lot of really good dancers. The dance floor is really big and was just refinished - its great to dance on.
When you become a part of Denver Turnverein, you become part of a family. I attend many of the dancing events and have learned a great deal not only from formal classes, but also everyone who attends the social dances as well.
Great space for an event, Tango on the rocks was fantastic. Jessica and John teach an Argentine tango class thats top notch.
Beautiful venue with newly refinished hardwood dance floor. Lessons and social dancing all week. Great place to meet people and have fun!
The dance floor was smooth and not sticky. I went for Lindy hop on Friday night, the group was very nice and welcoming.
