The cowboy hats are cute but a quick glance at the dance floor will have you second guessing the country western bar (no seriously, the dance floor itself is well worn).Staff is generally friendly. Drinks are appropriately priced. Music is fine, I know my cries for more country music fall on deaf ears but that’s the Texan in me acknowledging that my roots don’t represent the Gen Z dollar. All walks of life are welcome here and it shows. In a good way.
I rarely write bad reviews, but this one is necessary. The bartenders here always seem to have an attitude, which is frustrating when all I want is to enjoy my time. Their rudeness completely kills the vibe, and its honestly disappointing and just straight up sad. For a better experience, just head over to XBAR! The atmosphere is much more positive, and the bartenders actually enjoy what they do, which makes all the difference. Charlies really needs to step up their game--right now, all they have going for them is literally just the name. Sad, used to be fun and the bartenders used to be worth getting to know.
Used to love Charlie’s. A great place to come on a night out. The bartenders have gotten so rude, can’t ask a simple question without attitude or a snap back, the drag shows are over an hour late, there’s no free water anywhere, and the shower floods the floors. Disappointing as it feels like a really inclusive space but the execution is so bad.
We’ve given Charlie’s many chances over the years. You’d think in our LGBTQ community there would be more effort in creating a safe space for everyone. Not here. This is pro dominantly for men. I cannot count how many times I’ve seen women get mistreated here. They made all women fall out the line for open toe shoes/heels. Some of the same bartenders here for years will put a smile on their face for all the men ordering but once a woman walks up, you’ll get whole different attitude. They’ll purposely mess your drinks up. Once you ask for more liquor they’ll pour the whole bottle to ruin it even more. They’ll find any reason to kick women out. This place is horrible honestly. It’s always dirty, smells horrendous and attitudes everywhere. I’m sure if you actually hired workers with good attitudes, you’d have better reviews and better tips. This place could be so much better if they actually focused on hiring good staff and not just Drag shows. We’re finally done with this place. Ladies BEWARE
This is the least inclusive LGBTQ+ bar in Denver. For starters the staff is completely rude to you unless they find you attractive. As you can see by many other reviews they discriminate towards women including LGBTQ women. The staff was plastered drunk, I understand bartenders drinking from time to time but the guys at the door acting as security were plastered and starting argument with patrons in line. They did not check my ID Friday night (possibly due to their level of intoxication) so there is concern for if underage people are able to get in. My wife and I were treated very poorly over pride weekend of all times. If youre looking for a place to feel accepted Charlies is not the place for you.
I came here with my best friend from out of town who is a gay man. I ordered us drinks at the bar and I don’t drink so I order a drink with bitters in it as most bars I’ve been to have bitters and it’s never been a problem before. The first bartender told me very rudely that my drink was complicated (like I asked for his opinion) and then told me to go to another bar. I went to another bar and they did have bitters and I tipped the guy $5 because I was grateful he actually gave me what I wanted. We left and went to another bar and made our way back. We went to the same bar but it was a different bar tender. Once again I ordered my drink with bitters and he told me they didn’t have bitters when in fact I knew they did. I ordered my friend a drink as well, this bartender made it watered down, and then made my drink, took my money and threw my change at me. My friend was very upset and we eventually left. LADIES, watch out here because they do not treat women the same at men here. I will never be back to this establishment and I will make sure I tell others to not go here.
Great spot that is always popping with an event or two. Lively dance floor and DJ you can request songs for-check out the dance team shows-Jarrett, Jakey and Felicity delivered!Great drinks available from multiple inside bars, spacious outdoor area under a lovely old tree and friendly patrons give you plenty of ways to enjoy your time during a night out.
Pretty certain my bartender was the best part of the night. I believe their name was Christopher M. What a sweetheart and not to mention soft on the eyes. This was my first time and I dont drink often so I say make me the sweetest thing. 3 Cherry vodka mixes later I was riding the vibe and enjoying the show! The drag was fantastic and how sassy! I couldnt stop laughing! They do have black lights so wear your paint if you got any! Otherwise they have a booth for it! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Was busy but its Friday night; expected! The music was upbeat and the DJ was talented! I will definitely be visiting again in the future! Two things to note: $5 entry fee and a $5 coat checkA personal note for all those going: TIP THE WORKERS! ✌️
Awesome thursday night line dancing fun. Steven is am incredible dancer and teaches a 6pm class for beginners. Unpretentious atmosphere and friendly energy.
Used to love this place but the vibes are SOOO off. The new DJ sucks and doesn’t play any good music. So sad to see a club I used to love in Denver change so much for the worst. Used to recommend this place to all the gays but wouldn’t recommend it anymore. DJ is rude and doesn’t play any good songs. If I wanted to go to a straight club with bad music I would go to one. Not going back. Old music was WAYYY better. Old DJ was WAYYYY better. If people are recommending you songs it means your playlist isn’t good? And I mean to say PLAYLIST because the term DJ is above his pay grade. Homeboy just queues songs in Spotify and leaves the laptop to do its own thing. SEVERELY lacking vibes. Sounds shady but it’s just the facts.
This was a really fun country western themed bar. Staff is friendly and the drink prices are very reasonable.
Charlies is a bit loud, but the crowd is fun to admire, and with Grindr in hand, you can meet so many lively people! Its a great place to go to admire the dancers, puke on some drag queens, and drain away the monotony of single life.Good patio, too. My only complaint is they dont have piñas, but thats expected for some reason. 😎My favorite part, honestly, is the huge free parking lot. That rocks.✨️👌
Eve the bartender was amazing thank you so much for your service tonight I’ll be back! You know how to make an unforgettable experience! 🤍
Been going here for probably over 20 years, never thought theyd start charging a $30 entry fee. Definitely not worth the cover charge, gross to gouge this community in particular.
The absolute worst place for pride. Why the door people were beyond rude was baffling! It felt like because I wasn’t a gay boy I wasn’t allowed to party. Worst night ever.! Will never recommend to anyone that’s LESBIAN!
Here is a fun nightclub specially for young people. They have people dance and everything and you can give them tips. They sell drinks and when your hungry all they have is hotdogs or something outside during the summer. If you want to take off your shirt they have cubbyholes around. They card you to get in but they dont charge an entrance fee or for parking either. They also have limited places to dit down, so when you find one grab it quickly.
They will charge you whatever they want (sometimes even on your benefit) but it’s uncertain, might get a jack and coke for 8$ or might get the same single jack and coke for 13$ this bartenders are more drunk than the people ordering the drinks.
We have a group of friends that meet here a couple of times a week. Mostly on Thursday for 2 for 1 drinks.
Great time last night. Surprisingly good beer options, appreciate that the drag was in a side room so that entertainment could be optional (prefer to dance on the main floor), good song mix... - 1 star for not having a water fountain (bottled water for purchase as the only option is cringe, a jug at the back bar or something would go a long way).
Visiting from out of town with a friend. Had a great time. Good music. Definitely a diverse crowd. Different from I am from.
I like the dance part better than the country part of this bar. The DJs are nice here too unlike other gay bars. The patio is nice and big and also has bartenders as well.
I ended up being on my birthday and it was incredible! The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly security. Someone even came by to say hello to welcome me and got me a drink! The club is fun to dance too! There was perhaps a time or two where I was caught being smushed by someone but by the end of the night… well it was magical. I really loved this place!
Charlie’s can be a very fun place but last night I went and the employees were honestly not in the best mood. I hadn’t eaten all day and didn’t drink at all i had one beer at the show I went to. I had ordered a club soda at charlies with no alcohol. My stomach wasn’t feeling good I got sick I didn’t make it to the bathroom but I made it to the bathroom trash. The manager wasn’t very nice at first and wouldn’t listen to me and what was going on and kicked me out. Then I told him and he kinda listened and told me I couldn’t order from the bar but I told him I wasn’t drinking. After wards he got me a water which was nice but could have been a nicer situation and would have liked if he actually heard what was going on. I also feel like the bartenders aren’t always the nicest either. Usually a fun place but after yesterdays interaction it made me a bit off about wanting to go back to one of my favorite bars in Denver.
DO NOT OPEN A TAB AT THIS BAR! I opened a tab and three drinks in I was told that my tab was being closed for exceeding $100. I was stunned. I asked for the itemized tab and it was clear that I had been charged for 5 Malibu shots that I had not requested. I had been drinking Bacardi pineapple. The bartenders were nice enough to bring out the manager so that I could dispute this overcharge but the manager had no interest in helping. He accused me of being too drunk to remember and said I could leave if I was not pleased with the service. I could not do anything except cancel my debit card and claim fraud. please dont fall victim to this bars predatory practices.
Always have a good time here too. Thank guys. Love your place! Safe space for sure.
I cannot believe the experience that I’ve had here at Charlie’s night club. I was with my boyfriend ordering a drink and we were removed from the club because we appeared to drunk to even be inside the club when we’ve only have like one drink tonight as we made our way towards the front and we’re rudely addressed by enough front security guards and the ID check guy due to the fact that we’ve already paid our coverage charge in order to get inside the nightclub. We were shoved back out the main entrance door aggressively to where the main bouncer was beginning to inflict violence upon my friend, and so I held him back violations to prevent any altercation along with, making sure nothing else elevated or escalated to cause further problems, but being the fact that me and my partner are part of the LGBT community, I’ve refused to believe that this is the kind of customer service I should receive at Charlie’s nightclub Denver, knowing that I am a local around here
Charlies is a cheaper version of Tracks. Haha not a dig. Its a great place to dance and fairly reasonable pricing. You can get big things of beer for a fair price. Or at least you could a few years ago. Nice patio. It gets crazy packed so hard to dance here but its still fun.
No specifics to be found anywhere on their website or elsewhere for what qualifies as designer underwear for their Undie Mondays! events, which simply says Men in designer undies drink free!I went in Calvin Klein and was told it wasnt the right designer. Go google Mens Designer Underwear and numerous shopping results will have Calvin Klein being sold as Designer Underwear.Would be really nice if they could post some fine print on their website either with rules for what they consider acceptable designer underwear, or just go all out and post an acceptable brand list.Petty to complain about not getting free drinks? Yeah, a little. But Im not a big underwear guy so I went out of my way to buy a few pairs of CK and went thru the trouble of traveling to Charlies only to be denied once Im there even though, in my opinion, I was a man in designer undies. Wasted my time and money.
I love this place....but From a business point of view I understand but for a local....$100 for pride no thanks🤮
Barback will take your drink and toss it. Happened to me and my partner as well as a friend. Reading other reviews, happens quite often. Wasted $20 on drinks and got one sip out of them. Wont return. This place has gone downhill over the years
One star is still too high of a rating - this is NOT a safe space for non-masc presenting queer folx. I went here last weekend with my partner and some friends, and had staff get verbally and physically aggressive with me after my GF and I tried to use the bathroom; Mind you, they have no women’s restroom and only ONE “all gender” stall. I had a worker walk into the stall - while I was using it - TWICE, the second time refusing to leave until I left the premises solely because two of us walked into the same stall. As we were walking out, the staff member proceeded to tell other staff that we were being “disrespectful” prompting them to jeer and say nasty comments towards us. As my friends were meeting us outside, one of them told me that a dancer was blocking the door to leave, and when she tried to move past him to leave, he put his hand up her skirt.Never have I encountered such disgusting, predatory and downright rude staff - do you self a favor and avoid this place at ALL COSTS. Drinks were mid at best too.
The emcee of Bronco Sunday is your high school bully. He goads Fetal Alcohol Syndrome victims into fights. He held a grudge for over a year against my roommate for abusing our dog. Then while standing in a drink line he said, I kicked your dog out & I can kick you out too. Later the video feed went out & the whole crowd jeered in jest. Clouded judgement by drinking shots the thin-skinned emcee singled out my friend & told him to leave. Despite their ad claiming inclusiveness, they discriminate against seniors, disabled people & women (charge extra admission in Phx). There is no Free Speech in Charlies. (Dont Boo)
Don’t go here unless you wanna get punched, get kicked out for being punch, date rapped, deal with unprofessional staff that doesn’t care if your friend got date rapped and went missing!!! You’ll get cut off for having too much fun when your the DD and only drinking water!!! This place has gone down hill in the last year and it’s very sad!!!! Go to XBar way better atmosphere!!!!!
Do not go here. A gay club is supposed to be a safe space it in fact is not. First the club was packed with straight people. And then some straight guys were trying to set me up. Absolutely DO NOT GO here
This is my first time at Charlie’s tonight. A guy named Carter met us at the front door, and he immediately welcomed us with his warm smile and charismatic personality. We later found out he was the manager. He gave us a tour, and by the end of the tour we were family Charlie’s is my new favorite bar and I will continuously come here and invite my friends. Come out!!! by the time we left we bought a Charlie shirt I will advertise it across the world!!
I visited Denver and saw Charlie’s and had to go. I went on a Thursday and they had a amazing drink special and for a Thursday the bar was packed and they even had dancers and a drag show! Overall it was fantastic and fell in love with the bar. If I’m back in Denver I will 100% be back!
This place is raciest! As a black man I shouldn’t feel unwanted or uncomfortable from staff at this place. It just sucks that there isn’t a seen for minorities here in Denver! Such a bad experience here once again because of the bias treatment towards blacks. I’ll never go back and if your black X bar or Trade is where you go! Not this white washed establishment. Truly hurts my feelings that I can’t even be accepted by my own gay people!
Terrible place, rude staff. I had to pay to check my purse and when it was time to go my wallet was missing. The guy working there said I never gave him my wallet, everyones belongings were on the floor or in buckets. No system to it, now wonder he couldnt find my wallet. Manager said I could come back at closing to look for it, I came back and they wouldnt let me in, just walked past and ignored me. I eventually called the police to report my wallet stolen. Drinks are overpriced and incredibly watered down. Also underwear night where drinks are supposed to be free in your underwear is for men only. Will never be going back here.
I came here on underwear night (Monday). I am supposed to get free well-drinks/draft beers( as is their promotion). I was denied because my underwear wasnt sexy enough. (Aeropostale) The bartender told me that I wasnt wearing Andrew Christian and I was denied my free drink. The website doesnt read that designer underwear, e.g.: Andrew Christian, (which i dont own) has to be worn. Charlies is definitely dropping the ball on this one. Petty.
Always a great time and good staff! Love drink specials they have different times of days of the week.
Wanna go out and dance with your friends? Well Charlie’s is no longer the place for you. Used to be a better experience now it’s taken over by drag shows; mediocre drag shows. They DRAG on and on and when patrons are finally able to bust it out on the dance floor it lasts thirty minutes at most and then another hour long drag show begins. My friends and I find ourselves leaving before we have a chance to really enjoy a night out.
My Partner and I visited Charlie’s this past weekend on our trip to Denver. This place was such as disappointment. The staff checking people in at the door were extremely rude, the bartender were unfriendly, and the drinks were over priced.I had expected to have the same if not better experience at this location as I had at Phoenix, Vegas, and Chicago Charlie’s.
Amazing place, had so much fun.
Barback tossed my drink. When i asked him to let the bartender know so they could make a new one, he told me that i should just let the bartender know someone grabbed it and theyll make a new one. I did as he said, but the bartender said he would charge me for a new drink. BARTENDER DID NOT EVEN OFFER TO ASK THE BARBACK ABOUT IT.
Charlies has outgrown the location...which is great for business but exhausting as a customer. $5 cover isnt bad at all. No issues there. Once youre inside its just shoulder to shoulder with everyone. Youre going to wait 10-15 minutes in line to get a drink every time. The drag shows...man wed love to see them but the place is so crowded, youre only going to see the sweaty dude standing in front of you. Are you looking for a place to sit? Dont bother, youre not going to find a place to sit. Looking for an area to stand that isnt extremely humid and hot? Not going to find that either. The bathroom must be cleaned once every 3 hours because its always disgusting. How many people can you cram into a tiny space before its a fire hazard? We used to come here often but its just a hot mess these days.Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else or just go home. Youll leave Charlies disappointed and underwhelmed.
Why do the drag queens always go past their midnight curfew on Sunday’s? All we we want to do is come and dance but can’t do that on a Sunday night. They should have their moment all for that….but they take advantage and everyone spends their night outside or so mad they just leave. We just want to dance and enjoy an evening but can’t……used to love this bar but it’s getting out of control with them dominating. Not sure if people have said anything to staff but I’ve herd a lot of options about it for over 3 months before I felt the need to leave a review. But here we are and now the majority of people need a voice. Let them have their moment they are awesome, but please let us have our moent too! Had to edit….it’s now 1:19 and they are still going. Why? I’ve watched people by the droves leave cause this is not what we are here for on a Sunday night. Again let them have their time but when their time is up it’s need to be done. Just listing to the crowd and admittedly my own option but the people need a voice this is an hour after the original review. So sad. People are not happy it’s a let down for sure.
Want to have fun dancing? Want a pitcher of coors light? Want to see impressive performers? Celebrating your bday perhaps? This is your spot! Low cover charge, $5, good vibes good times
A place that once felt safe and like home is no longer the case. I can’t speak on all the staff but the way I was treated by the guy at the front door was unreal. I have never been so disrespected that even the police officers on duty looked at him sideways. Not only was he extremely rude and unprofessional, he was hostile and after what happened at club Q the last thing we need is to turn against each other in our own community smh. Do better.
Be extra careful and mindful with your belongings here. My phone was stolen from my back pocket ON the crowded dance floor. Another persons passport and wallet were stolen from their purse on the same night (3/31). Club Manager was unaware of what to do or how to proceed. Its really pathetic people come to a bar to steal.
It was my friends birthday and he was encouraged to go on the dance floor by the drag host to dance, then was ridiculed and told to leave for some reason. He said it wasnt fair to be kicked out when he didnt do anything wrong... so they literally dragged him out. Next thing I know, they called the cops and pinned him on the floor, and refused to let me just take him home. They told me they have footage of both of us striking them, and that they were gonna have us both arrested if I didnt leave. I hadnt touched anybody, and they were the ones literally dragging him. It was insane. I had to leave without my friend and was threatened that Id be arrested too if I was there when the cops showed up. It was my first time and I definitely wont be going back...
Great bar with a dance floor, patio, and lower bar where they have drag shows. Tuesdays they have karaoke and half price drinks. Great atmosphere and fun and friendly staff. I always have a great time when I go!
The bar is cool, however they only play Nicki music, I asked a staffer to play one cardi song and he kind of blew me off, it was kind of of annoying that they can play Nicki all night but no Cardi music, the DJ should play a wide selection not just what he or she likes very displeased. The staffer was a black guy with dreads.btw
Dec 14 my friends and I visited this place for fun(a friends bday) and what seemed out of nowhere my friend got pulled by the host for a solo performance seconds got named as a crasher by this same hostess. This all resulted in my friend being pinned by FOUR people against someone that WEIGHTED 170.This all happened an hour before medical attention was given to my friend and he was taken to the hospital!!!PSIf the drag queen performing had no problem with my friends energy then why should the host throw shade!!! Peace and love should always be a given at this place and I am now questioning if CHARLES is a place of that type of energy. ❓❓❓❓❓❓
We had such a blast when we went to Charlies on Friday! Dueling pianos was the event of the night and it was so much fun 😁 plus they had some awesome drink special going on. We got there early (around 7:30ish) and Im glad because it was getting quite busy by the time we left. Thank God for their parking lot! Cant wait for the next night out!
BEWARE SCAM / OVERCHARGE TACTICS: There seems to be systemic tactics used by the staff to overcharge patrons that Ive experienced on numerous occasions by multiple bartenders in the same night. In the past, Ive experienced that I will order a well vodka soda first for $6 and when I come back to the same bartender and order another drink without specifying its well (I would assume the bartender knows what I order), the bartender will charge me $8.25 for a higher priced vodka. Ive also had bartenders just charge $8.25 without even asking if I want well alcohol for cheaper. Ive ignored this scam, but tonight the bar had a special on Patron tequila for $5; I ordered a drink with a bartender and came back, and he charged me $10 for the next round, and told me that I had ordered a double the first round; I get automatic billing on my phone and showed him that he charged me $5 for the first drink. I went to a different bartender for another round, and the same thing happened; the first drink was $5, and the second drink I came back for was charged $10 and was told the same thing that I ordered a double even though I didnt.
I absolutely love Charlie’s, but this most recent visit killed it. I opened a tab at the start of the night and gave them my credit card like normal. I was never given the card back. I went through the night like normal and order drinks. When I wanted to close out they only gave me the check with no card. I told them the color, the bank name, my name, and after two different times looking they said they couldn’t find it. I came back a third time and was told to wait where I was for the manager, and the. Told by another heavy set person to move, I said I was waiting for the manger for my card and they threaten to call the police to remove me. I argued but moved back because I wanted my credit card. It took talking to the manager before they would even present any card that matched mine for me to claim. I gave the manager a hug for helping me and apologized but I don’t think I will ever go back. Which is really sad because I I really liked Charlie’s but I won’t go to a place that blankly stole my card!
This was my first and last time to Charlie’s as my friend and I received very little to no service. My friend and I waited at least an hour before the server came to see if we needed another drink after the initial one, keep in mind our drinks were gone within 10 minutes of being served them. I wanted to think that the server was to busy or the only one serving but instead watched him serving particular groups more as if they’re VIP along with there being more servers available. When we asked for our tabs we were greeted friendly by at least two more host as they asked if we needed anything else but unfortunately at this point we were severely disappointed. The only thing that was worth being there for was the beautiful drag queens as they were full of positive energy. Overall thumbs down 👎 to the service but thumbs up 👍 to the entertainers.
Any place that serves alcohol but doesnt provide water for free gets a 1-star. I recommend X Bar across the street -- much friendlier staff.
I absolutely love Charlie’s Nightclub. After we had a bad experience at Tracks, we started coming here and I can honestly say I prefer this bar to any other in Denver.💜The atmosphere is very welcoming and comfortable for anyone entering. It’s a true safe space💜The bartenders are sweet and friendly, and always willing to make interesting and fun drinks💜The music they play here is AMAZING! The only club I know in Denver that doesn’t just play only electronic music, they play old hip hop and pop jams.💜The drag queens here are incredible💛They have parking but be aware, if you park here and don’t go into Charlie’s you will be towed💔Although inside is great, the crowd hanging out outside the bar isn’t always the best💔Some nights can get very VERY busy and very hot so be prepared for it to get steamy!
PROS:For the most part, I have a good time here at Charlie’s. Great music, good dancing, large outdoor patio, and typically strong drinks.CONS:When I order a drink, please don’t just assume I want an upgrade on my alcohol choice, ask me first, or just give me the well.Make sure to ALWAYS specify which brand of alcohol you want. If you don’t, they will give you one or two up from the well, causing an extra charge. Sometimes they will even just give you the well but charge you differently each time you go up, thinking we won’t notice? I’m not sure. Just be cautious! Also, the bathroom are always very, very gross. Clean them!
I was visiting Denver for the weekend. I saw Charlie’s on Google and thought I’d try it out.I had a blast! The friendliest people and very cute men working there. It has such a great vibe. The show was awesome! I would definitely recommend it it. Can’t wait to go back, the next time I’m in Denver.
Super fun and inclusive space! great prices for drinks and all the employees were super kind.
I forget how fun this bar is but how the bartenders rob you when you get drinks. ALWAYS get beer, wine or seltzer. also PLEASE tell us the dancers venmo so we can tip them. Asked bartenders and other staff how to tip dancers without any luck.
Charlies in any city is an institution. This location was amazing. There was a foam party and an underwear contest so what could be better than that. Waitstaff was gracious and accommodating. Dancers were friendly and took the time to appreciate tips and chatting with patrons.
I always come here for the drag queens. I decided tocome tonight a thursday night at first it was ok, untill I went to the bar and asked for a glass of tap water I had already been drinking from the other drinks my friends ordered here. I was super hot and feeling sick and asked for water and the bar tender said no that I had to order bottled and pay for it. Then I asked a random bar back running the floor and they served me water. This is illegal not to serve water for free and I hope yall get a fine all I wanted was water not cool Ive been a regular foe ovre 10 yrs.
Charlie’s is my favorite gay bar to attend in Denver! The music is always on point. The drag queens that perform are amazing and so much fun. The atmosphere is filled with people looking to have a fun night out and Charlie’s never disappoints!
Best place to dance in Denver and I am not even gay. Service is top notch too. I always have a memorable time here. Been dancing here for over 10 years!!! Thank you!
I dont go to this bar. But a close friends son was in the Charlies Idol. So I went to support him. Everyone that sang did a good job. You have to have the courage to get up there and pour your heart and soul out. I was a amazed on the judges some of there comment toward the singers were shocking. They complemented some of the singer that needed to be couched and told they needed help because what I heard and what they heard was shocking bad. Then I heard the judges sing WOW take a lesson before you sit and judge a competition. I know it is not professional but how can you critique others when you need voice lessons yourself. I wish all the contestant well. But I know I wont be going to this bar again and will continue giving a bad review of Charlies.
Inconsistent quality. Bartenders make very weak drinks for people and over charge them. Rude staff who think they are the Pilar of our community. Disgusting
Great spot to hang with friends before heading out to main event. Approachable atmosphere with western theme (wear your boots and hats, guys!) Noticed a really diverse crowd during the week of men and women. There is a country line-dance class held here (Check the website). Great outdoor drinking area, clean restrooms, large parking lot all help make this place easy.
I never get hit on at bars and Charlie’s breath of fresh air in that department. Just want to emphasize I’m straight. 5/5 might transition
A national chain gay bar capitalizing on pride that caters to straight people. If you actually want to mingle with the locals and give money to a local business during pride go to xBar, Tight End (no cover for pride!), or Blush n Blu. All of these are actually owned by queers in the neighborhood. Allies, step up and put your money back into the actual locals instead of a chain party.
If you are looking for a fun time while in town visiting, Charlie’s is the place to check out.You can have a few drinks as well as a good show on the weekends! Make sure you tip your bartenders as well as your Queens!
Vaccine mandates is a company’s personal choice, which is absolutely fine. The bartender is SEVERELY misinformed citing that the county of Denver has a vaccine mandate. Honey, it doesn’t. I’m pretty sure it’s against the rules to make up laws but who knows? Maybe that’s cool now.
Me and my friends always have a good time. $5 for a pitcher? Hell yeah! I rather have that than $16 pitcher at another bar. Sure the lines are long for the bathroom (Everyone’s gotta pee) but other than that it’s always fun to go there. I can dance to whatever song and not be judged like in Market street bars. Even my straight guy friends say they rather go there.
This was my first time going to this club Charlie’s. Out of sudden I was pulled out of the club for spilling someone’s drink because I was dancing too out of the way in the middle of the dance floor (?). So if you intend to do dance on the dance floor DO NOT COME to this club. I asked what was happening and the guy just threw me out without letting to talk to my group of friends.
This is my first and last review on Google and its all for this piss poor excuse of a bar. Coming from AZ I was very excited to visit the sister location of Charlies in Denver and was treated with by far the most disrespect I have ever received from an establishment. I heard music coming from the side door which was ajar and not being familiar with the location, I entered and was greeted by a drag performer singing a beautiful rendition of California Dreamin. After approximately 10 seconds a woman approached me and told me I had entered through the wrong door. I apologized and promptly exited. I went to the main entrance and was told that a manager had denied me entry. I asked what I had done wrong and the person tending to the front door brushed past me and would not so much as look at me let alone answer me. He only briefly mentioned that there was signage to indicate that it was not an entry point. After exiting I took a second look and the door was now properly shut so it could not be opened and there are NO signs on the door or the surrounding walls. I will NEVER go back to Charlies. It was a Wednesday evening and there was absolutely no justifiable reason for any of this to have occurred.
I always have a great time no matter what day of the week my friends and I show up. Even when I fly solo, Charlies feels comfortable. The staff are each hot in their own way. No matter what your type, theres a bartender for you. And theyre all very sweet.
Very impressed with this bar. We’re visiting from Houston on a Friday night. This is the only Denver bar that seemed to do it right. Very spacious, not overly country.
Charlies is...OK. I really love the outdoor area, its very pretty! But the DJs Ive heard there have been absolutely TERRIBLE, And it has a slightly strange vibe. I think part of the problem THERE is that it feels like its having an identity crisis; its all over the place! Its like they had a great space but just couldnt stay focused. It has way more potential.
The bartenders made me feel like I was poor or something. They all ignored me even when no one else was waiting. However, the drag queens were really nice and fun.
If I could select zero stars I would! This place was RIDICULOUS!I have been going to Denver every year for the last seven years for Pride and my birthday (I am from out of state). This year was the first year my friends and I decided to go to Charlie’s and we will never return! There are many reasons why.First, it was about 110 degrees inside, no air conditioning, fans, or anything of that sort to keep the environment cool.Second, the women’s bathroom was extremely dirty. No tissue paper, no paper towels, and one of the toilets was backed up and had feces, urine, and tissue in it clogging it. The men’s restroom wasn’t any better.Third, I went on a Saturday night where Svedka Vodka is $3.00 a shot. When I got my tab towards the end of the night, it was almost $70.00 and I only purchased 12 shots for my friends and I. Do the math, my tab should have only been $36.00. I asked one of the bartenders why it cost so much when shots were only $3.00. He replied by saying, “We aren’t doing $3.00 shots tonight.” Bartenders were also very rude! There was one very nice bartender and after getting one round with him, he disappeared.Fourth, I went up on one of my rounds to the same well I went to every time (directly right of the stage), and no one assisted me. I stood there trying to get the attention of one of the bartenders for 5 to 10 minutes. Every time, the bartenders walked passed me, looked at me, and said nothing.Fifth, there was open seating for the show after a certain time of the night. My friends and I sat down in the open seating area only to be told by a VERY rude individual with a cowboy hat on that we were in someone’s seats. These individuals who sat in the seats we were in only stayed for a few of the acts then got up and left, meanwhile, yet ANOTHER set of individuals sat in those seats and were not told anything. There were MANY other little events which took place and as you can see, this list is very long as is. My advice: DO NOT ATTEND CHARLIE’S, it’s a waste of time, money, and effort!
We have been before with handbags and did not have an issue. Yesterday we were told we had to put our handbags in exposed cubbies where anyone walking by could just take them. The employee and manager were completely rude! I won’t be going back to this sexist bar.
Charlies is a great place to go to find new and old friends & have a great time dancing...if you like country music. Otherwise, they have another room for more pop/top hits music - but that room rarely has many people in it. Generally speaking, I have always had a good time at the bar and the outside area is lovely and covered, with a nice little decorative brook & plant area & a couple televisions, but 9 times out of 10, the whole inside of the bar smells funky. Similar to a combination of foot sweat, musk, and wet dog.I have rarely ever been served right away at any of the bars...unless I have my gay guy friend with me, and they have a credit card minimum somewhere between $10-$12 - so either bring cash or buy a round for your friends cos drink prices themselves are very nice & low. Oh, and you have to stick with one bar once you open a tab - they cant transfer it, although they have 3 different bars available.Always a good time if you remember to bring cash & a hot guy with you.
This bar used to be good but is no longer that way. If you dont have male parts the bartenders do not want to wait on you. If you say something to a bartender in a nice way for them ignoring your partner trying to buy a drink. You are told that they will have you thrown out for no reason
Charlie’s was my favorite nightclub until last Saturday. Some friends and I went there to celebrate the birthday of one of them, and when we got there the bouncer asked us to pay for putting our purses away. None of us wanted to put our purses away, so the he told us if we didnt want to do what he was asking, we should get out of “his bar”. I asked why... I didn’t want to pay for that when I could easily carry my purse all night. He called me rude, and asked me to get out. Seriously, I’ve never gone to a place that forced me to put my purse away, and with a such bad bouncer who calls the clients rude and yells at them to get out of “his bar”. I’m really disappointed...
Yesterday, my fiancee and I went to Charlies for their Pride celebration. At the bar, I told the bartender that my fiancee wanted something sweet, but it couldnt be citrus/acidic, because shes allergic. He makes a drink mixed with pineapple, and when I tell him Im sorry she cant have pineapple he proceeds to give me attitude at the fact that he has to make another drink. Long story short, he makes her a cranberry and vodka. Which was super weak, and he didnt want to fix it because he was already irritated at the fact that he had to make another drink. So, whatever, we move along. Fast forward an hour later, and my fiancee has broken out in hives on her face because the bartender used the same cup he made the first drink with pineapple, instead of throwing the whole thing away.Needless to say, Charlies is lucky that the hives went away by the end of the night with the proper medication, or they would have had a lawsuit on their hands. This experience left me much less than satisfied with Charlies. Maybe get better bartenders that understand the concept of allergies.
Cheap drinks. Sometimes long waits for said drinks but friendly service and a great atmosphere so for being a night club that’s more than you ca say for most in the Denver area. Frequent Charlie’s a few times a month and am never dissatisfied on a Friday/Saturday night.
Chad a great bartender! He made me and friend so welcome and kept us entertained. The best bar to go to if you want to chill and get a drink
Really charlies? Its pride weekend and you can only do cash only for the bar? Get with the times. Great vibes though! I did have lots of fun even though the card readers stopped working.
Loved everything about this place!! The bartenders are super friendly and make the best green teas! Highly recommend to everyone in the lgbt community!
I wash just at Charles on nov. 22 and I was having a good time till the bar closed and they took my beer. They told me they had announced it and they just grabbed my beer and when I spoke with the General manager did not resolve anything. A girl that had purchased her drink a few minutes before had her drink pulled as well. I dont think it is right and that is sterling. I will be reporting this. Not even in a restaurant do they do this.
Steven at coat check is so so fun and sweet this review is for him ❤️❤️❤️
Great bar!! Sexy entertainment and a fun time. Wish there was more dancing room. Nonetheless, I’ll be back ☺️ I love love the dancers, especially the water cage 😍
The drag shows used to last until 11 but now go all night so no one can enjoy the dance floor because the show takes up she entire evening. There is no reason for a show to interfere with others wanting to dance and drink.
When did Charlies become a straight fish bar? What a disappointment it was for me to come back to find a line of straight girls with their gayboys to get it. I had to text my friend to come outside so we could go elsewhere. We went to Trade. Small bar but better crowd.
Hey everyone so I was mugged by 3 guys last night in Charlie’s nightclub parking lot for my car. If any one sees my car please call the police. license plate number is CGKF70. I have a ZD sticker on my back windshield and a Odesza sticker on my side window. Everyone please be careful walking to and from your car alone.
Doesnt close at 2. 1:45
Just left because a dancer decides its ok to shove someone violently into myself and my partner. Walked away like it was nothing and didnt even apologize. The managers basically didnt act like it was that big of a deal. It ruined my night and hurt my partner. This is the second bad experience Ive had here and this is a place I usually love. Im very disappointed in the staffs response and lack of any emotion. Thats unprofessional and not courteous in any way shape or form to any patron of an establishment.
Ive never had a bad night going out to Charlies. If you enjoy dancing at gay bars, you should go try this place out. Included: drag shows, country dancing, hip hop dancing, and cheap drinks.
I like going here. Its a much more affordable night out then Tracks. I think if they had more going on with their DJs they could be the next Tracks if they wanted to! Fair drink prices most staff is friendly. I hate that they dont have stall doors in the bathroom though.
BEWARE of parking. My friends and I went to Charlies then went to grab food before coming back. After spending another hour at Charlies we came out to find my car was towed from the parking lot. $350 to Wyatts towing.
I always have fun when I go to Charlies, its a place to have a drink, dance (if you like to dance) and meet some nice n cool people. Weekends are always fun at Charlies so I recommend this place if you want some relaxation time after a week full of work.
Its sexist to require a woman to turn over her expensive hand bag to strangers to enter the bar, or not be allowed entry. I have never heard of this and am going to find out if its even legal. Especially if she needs the supplies in that bag because shes on her period. And especially when this is mentioned after requiring a door fee be paid. My night was ruined, and I was unable to meet my friends because I couldnt be without what was in my bag for medical reasons. This is quite definitely discrimination, and Ill be following up.
Maybe Im just getting old, but Charlies is so... Old. Im from AZ, so Im familiar with the bar.. its the same jn PHX.. If youre really into country music and tired line dancing, then its cool. If you just want to relax, have a drink and meet men, Id suggest a new bar (I think its near Broadway near 6th) called Sweet. Its a gay bear bar that is very comfortable, no matter who you are. (Im not a bear, but I enjoy this place.
Bartender serving on the patio in the back, you need some sort of people, or decency skills. If you were at least common and knew how to make a decent drink... I wouldnt be so terse. Star on your chest doesnt make you the sheriff, unless you know the mayor of Nopackagetown. Youre a dick... move on.
Enjoyable and fun. A good mix of people. The layout is pretty open so even when busy you can easily move aroundThe bathrooms are gross and mostly unlit so make sure you have a flashlight app.
Wow! this bar has changed for the worst! cover charge and expensive drinks. i come from thornton to see this place with a friend and my partner who was the dd. i paid 36.50 to get in and first drinks! 21 dollars for a double vodka sprite and grinedine where as my local bar is 6.50 a drink. never coming here again.
It’s a good place to drink and dance ... I gave it a three because sometimes it’s way to overcrowded ! I feel like they should hire more bartenders .... and open that other room that I’ve seen closed for some time now ... also the one complaint I do have is No Bags/purses .... even if it’s a tiny one you are NOT allowed to bring it in .... you can coat check it tho lol
EDIT: GOT ASSAULTED TONIGHT BY A FAKE, TRAILER TRASH EMPLOYEE AND THE SECURITY STAFF DID NOTHING TO INTERVENE! THIS IS THE FARTHEST THING FROM A SAFE SPACE IN THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY!.Came here and the door queen discriminated against my service dog in direct violation of Colorado Revised Statutes Title 24: § 24-34-803. Treated like shizzz even though I have full documentation for my service dog. They ILLEGALLY stated that they can refuse service for any reason. I told them that thats HIGHLY illegal –rejecting entrance to a service dog handler, but they claimed to have the ultimate say which is entirely contrary to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and is, in fact, TOTALLY AGAINST Colorado law.
They don’t have enough bartenders and so I left without getting a drink because every time I had to wait ten minutes to get a simple beer poor. It’s not the bartenders, it’s the management. The bartenders were GREAT! Just too busy to attend to everyone
Hot bartenders, plenty of space to hang out. Wish the main dance floor would stay country all night but oh well. Decent price for my drink. Plenty of people to meet!
Loved the Bartenders. Not only are they cordial but they serve the drinks with a smile and a wink. Most of them are also very muscle bound and make me swoon and my mouth water. If they would only give me the time of day.
JUST GO TO XBAR!!! You can’t be a woman/lesbian and go here. They’ll charge you more for drinks and charge you $2 to check your wallet that’s no bigger than your hand. Ladies, since when could we fit ANYTHING in our dresses or pants with no pockets?! Also the specials are only for the men as well... Patriarchy is at its finest here. Big middle finger up!
Was in Denver for three days and spent a lot off money in this bar. They had Kareoke and I put a name in at the first of the night. They closed the bar and never called the name put in at the first of the night. When I asked them about it they had the bartender kick me out. There are a lot of other choices in Denver guys you may want to consider.
The Cupid shuffle was played. After midnight. On Saturday.During Pride.Staff was nice.
Came from out of town for Pride weekend 2020.$10 cover gets you basically the same mix inside the club ever night of the weekend. I mean.... night at the Roxburys Baby dont Hurt Me multiple times in a single weekend after 10 during Pride? Is someone a big fan of Chris Kattan? Will Ferrell? Also... Slave for U is a tacky Britney selection... for obvious reasons...Theres a lot of female artists from the last 40 years.... Kisses xoxo
Great atmosphere but its bonkers that a bar that serves alcohol a mile above sea level doesnt let bartenders give you water from the bar, only $2 bottled water
Please dont waste your time or money on this DEPLORABLE ESTABLISHMENT.1. I was harassed and escorted out this nasty, diseased filled bar by 3 cops and 3 staff members (in cowboy hats), not because I did anything wrong, but because I was targeted because I am a black woman. They claimed my purse was too big (I have NEVER in life been asked to pay to check a purse). I explained to both the terrible looking man in drag and the short rude Mexican staff member that I DID NOT feel comfortable checking my purse, however, they could look inside! I had absolutely nothing to hide. I did have my passport, birth certificate, mail, and other sensitive information in my purse BECAUSE I am moving and had forgotten it was with me. They were letting other people in with purses just as big as mine. He had the audacity to tell me to pay to check my bag with some hillbilly looking guy, AT MY OWN RISK. I told him that I would leave, but I had just bought a drink and I was going to finish it. They also asked me (and no one else) for ID AGAIN. Clearly the dramatic bartender was doing that to get my name for the cops. However, he made up some story about all the underage drinking there. The Mexican staff stood behind me like I was a criminal, then called the cops. I was in shock. Then another extremely rude staff member (white, extremely over the top) comes up to be very violently. He had bad breath and was spitting in my face and yelling get out now! I explained that I would gladly leave AFTER I finished the drink I just purchased. The cops didnt say a word. They looked disgusted that all of this was happening over a medium sized purse. How am I not supposed to believe I was targeted because Im a black woman when I was treated differently than others? Were they assuming I had a gun? Drugs? I wasnt even drunk! I was totally sober and greatly disrespected.2. The place looks disease ridden. Its absolutely disgusting. Poop in the toilets, no toilet paper. They treat their guests like animals.3. They charge a cover and MAKE WOMEN pay more of a cover simply because we have vaginas and carry purses.4. The music sucks and so does the drinks. My suggestion: this place isnt worth your time. Try X Bar or even Wrangler. I have never had a bad experience at X Bar.
We were from out of town and stayed at the Econo Lodge next door to Charlies. We decided to check it out around midnight that Saturday. The biggest shock to us was that is way obviously a gay bar. Yes, we were very naïve and had no idea. We caught on after seeing two cowboys sucking face. I have no problem with this lifestyle, we just werent expecting the bar to be like this. We had a beer, minded our own business, then left. It seems like a cool place if that is your thing. To each his own.
As we were walking out, I was sexually assaulted by a man. The staff brushed it off and when I proceeded to talk to a manager he wouldn’t even give me any time to explain the situation. Use to be a cool place, now it’s jist gross with the worst people in Denver working there.
Very hit or miss but it’s been a lot more misses lately. Really bad DJ and mostly crowded with straight people or bachelorette parties. Have had really rude straight couples accost me and my friends on multiple occasions..Do better for the community Charlie’s.
Brandon was the nicest! My best friend was in town and when he was afraid he might have lost his phone, Brandon had us covered! Sams phone was in perfect custody! Of course the rest of the night was perfect, as it always is when I visit Charlies!
Horrible service horrible bartender it’s given raciest
I honestly love it here. When I go to other bars, i literally just say charlies? To my friends, And theyre easily in! Decent drink prices, and super involving events. :)))) keep it up!
The fact they shut down the MAIN ROOM to do shows during busy weekends is dumb. There’s a side room for a reason
Cheap drinks, great dance floor, friendly people. This might be my new go-to gay bar! I love that it wasnt just men, the lesbians were representing too.
That taco truck has great steak tacos, but the DJing is bad, and what’s worst they don’t sell cognac! Let me DJ hell why no hip hop and r&b night ?
I went to apply in person for an open interview. They had me wait 1hr, 30min. I ended up walking out. Too bad what they let walk away. 😏Othwise, I leave on a positive+note. Enjoyed Saturdays Line dancing. And boy on boy jello wrestling porn. Haha 😂
What fun! Great dancers!
Charlie, the bartender is the best bartender at Charlie’s. He is very personable and always has a smile on his face. He definitely brightens up the night when I’m there. ❤️
Love the fact that the drag queens take up viewer space and are rude to paying and tipping customers. I understand it’s Pridefest and we’re packed in like sardines, I don’t understand how the audience space was confused for the dressing room.
Smells like piss. Heat blasting on the dance floor making the patrons sick and miserable. Started charging cover and turning off country at 10:30 and the party music is the same thing every night...boring. Looks like we need somewhere else to regular cause Charlies doesnt want us anymore.
Fun time
Great little spot, been here a few times when I’m in town and it’s been great every time :) Windell was our bartender and he was super friendly, made us feel very welcome and right at home !
This is the place to be if you are from the are or just visiting. I had so much fun the last time I was here and I cannot wait to get back out there. Get out there, have some drinks and enjoy the atmosphere.
This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Self renovations that are not safe. Example would be the hand rail walking up to the front door. The A.C. is not ran and the numerous fans mounted inside are not even turned on making the bar ridiculously hot and uncomfortable. Has lost its roots and customer service to keep it light.
No bag policy? This is ridiculous bye 👋
Not really country anymore but ok
I like the bar. Friendly and a little bit of a country/line dance theme. Mostly a gay bar. I think they should play some music videos on the TVs. Too many old reruns on the TVs.
ATTENTION: Charlie’s Denver has been under “NEW” management for at least the last 6 - 9 months. But if you want to visit Charlie’s Denver located at 900 E. Colfax in Denver, Colorado and you think that your valuables & your person, will be safe and protected, THINK AGAIN!!On 4/27/15, After 12:00am I was viciously assaulted by an unknown assailant still at large resulting in a shattered hip & medical expenses over $100,000. Another Charlie’s customer (the assailant), was harassing me for something I had nothing to do with & I decided to leave immediately. I was blind sighted by the harassing assailing assailant. Immediately after assault, I alerted the unexpressive doorman & bartender of my injury. I was unable to stand due to broken shattered hip. Instead of an ambulance that I requested, Charlie’s called police and me and my shattered hip were shoved into a police car. The Denver Police detective Dectective Sides said that one week after the assault, Charlie’s had lost security footage May 6. Charlie’s initial response of not calling an ambulance for a tragic injury on their property is deplorable. The vicious assailant would have been apprehended and charged with assault if Charlies had protected its customers with correct basic security & security footage protocol standards practiced across the USA bar & night club industry.Charlie’s new management does not keep their customers safe as they are obligated to do. Security standards in the Nightclub and bar industry is retain all video for at least 30 days. If incident occurs, copy onto a DVD disc and retaining it for at least a year.In conclusion to this review, keep the following crime statistics in mind. This is according to Denver Police Department 2015 crime maps. Charlie’s Denver at 900 E. Colfax ALONE has had more VIOLENT ASSAULT and THEFTS/LACENCY crimes reported than 14 of the 16 other Denver GLBT night clubs/lounges COMBINED. Charlie’s crime rate surpasses 87.5 percent of all Denver GLBT bars. This is just in the last 6 months per the Denver Police Crime Map website as of 6/15/2015. Even over the past 36 months from June 2012 to June 2015, Charlie’s alone had more ASSAULTS & THEFTS/LARGENCY than 13 of 16 Denver’s other GLBT establishments combined. So if you decide to visit Charlie’s, keep in mind it may be safer to visit other establishments for quality drag shows, dancing, and quality refreshments. YOUR PHYSICAL QUALITY OF LIFE JUST MIGHT DEPEND ON IT!!!!
The staff was amazing and the music was so great to dance to! I had a blast here ! Great place for a night out with good friends and even better to meet some great new friends
They are sexist pieces of garbage. They disrespted myself, my friend, and my girlfriend who was performing. Never go there, EVER, please go to a different LGBTQ+ bar in Denver. Charlie’s is mysoginystic and corrupt.
Smallest drinks in the world. It’s all ice and a drop of liquor. Also won’t even give you a cup of water. Surprised they don’t charge you to use the bathroom.
Planned on dinner here as it is close to the Ogden. but as i walked up, i saw what appeared to be an abandoned shattered building, broken windows, unkept appearance. no backup plan, i entertained the idea and found the entrance in the back. poked my head into what looked like an evacuated stip bar complete with a bouncer counter, no dining tables in immediate sight. i heard chatter in the back where i saw a few tables pushed against the far side where it appeared one might be served. i decided against it. turned around and walked away. to be fair, i encountered no employees but google requires a rating. no greeter at the door so that is my only experience for service.
Stopped when traveling through and is just happened to be Drag bingo and it was fabulous. Thank you to the amazing guy working. And the Beautiful Queens.
I love going to this club. Drinks are amazing, music is nice and the drag queens are the best! Always go there and have a lot of fun!
Bad drink ever. I drink Comcast for over 29 yrs. The vokca here is not good. Compare with Sweet bar, Trade bar. Is 100 % different
Theyve remodeled and reinvented themselves. Drinks are still a bit pricey but the patio is now the best in Denver. There are constantly events and the place is always hopping.
Mostly straight girls who can’t respect queer spaces. This place used to be cool until they invaded. Happy pride month…
Trash place dont EVER COME HERE
Bar girl is sarcastic and standoffish to people who dont have enough money to tip but extremely nice to regulars bipolord thinking but it was nice the regulars were fun
Fun place but its mostly a straight crowd which is unfortunate for a gay guy looking for his community. Were not a zoo for straight people to come and look at.
Better than some and worse than some. This bar is very Mid. It has the potential to be more, so it gets a very mid rating.
Went there last night for my bday. Way too crowded could barely move. Pretty sure this is a fire safety code.
Decent patio, with Covid things are all out of whack so the service might be a little slow but you can’t beat the weekend drink prices for bottomless Mamosa‘s or beer.
Free country dancing lessons with a free beer at the end if you make it early enough. Such a fun evening option for everyone regardless of gender.
They desperately need a new dj. They play better music on a Thursday than they do on a Friday and Saturday!
Went here for the drag show and it was fabulous! Bartenders were friendly and quick! Would love to come back next time I visit Denver!
Atmosphere is fine but the bathrooms are always flooded and none of the doors shut. Even after a few beers, the restrooms are intolerably gross.
If you go during the day, its a nice relaxing place to grab a beer. If you go at night and are over 40, however, good luck ever getting service.
Negative star for this establishment. My friend was kicked because she was mistaken for another person and the so-called manager had zero problem solving skills to assess the situation.
My favorite gay bar in Denver. Highly recommend over the Wrangler. Xbar is close and great too if youre from out of town.
This place is a great LGBT country bar! I have great times here! The drinks are cheap and really strong! Matthew is the best bartender!
My favorite bar so far , everyone super friendly and drinks is cheaper
I felt violated by the bartenders (Daniel) took $20 for a beer and never gave back my change. He shoved me away when I tried to engage behind the bar.. asked for manager but all servers and bartenders shooshed me away.. I left -$60.00 less with 1 beer and 00:45 of dancing
Good place to start the night out. drag show is fun! drinks are typical denver prices
Charlies is a dump in serious need of some TLC. One of these days the roof is just going to cave in on top of the dance floor. Where the cover charge is going is anyones guess. Its not going toward upkeep; thats for sure.
Nice experience. But would be better if there was no $ 5 entry fee, and if drinks were cheaper.
Someone told me that on Thursdays it was something like 2×1 in drinks, and its not true I pay for everything I drink and I never get a voucher or an extra drink.
Overpriced Drinks. This place is a worn out dump. Used to be much nicer. The bathrooms are dark, dirty and inadequate. Do not patronize this place. They are taking advantage of the community.
Great place to dance, but wish the drag show was earlier than 11 so that dancing could last longer.
Loved this place!! Great music, vibe, people, reasonably priced drinks.
When we go out to dance, we go here! Cheap drinks and a great vibe.
Fun and Friendly atmosphere every time! My go-to place. Great place to take visitors and your in the closet brother! XOXOXOXOXOX P.S AND great food with great cooks on the weekends!
Was assaulted by a bouncer for trying to leave with bottled water I paid for. Also they charge patrons for water which is incredibly shady.
Its always a party at Charlies!!! Mixed crowds, good drinks, great drag shows!, friendly environment, best gay bar in Denver!
I was thinking about going to Charlie’s but then reading multiple comments about the staff trying to scam people out of money on drinks, etc. is a HUGE red flag. Thanks but no thanks!
At sunday night pride charlies was still charging a 10 dollar cover as they were closing up the block party. Only ons stage had entertainment.
This Club really stepped up and showd out.... definitely coming out here more!!! the Green tea shot DELISH!!! The music current and favs with the repetitiveness!! ❤⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
DJ sucks, hostile drag queens, overpriced water, diluted drinks, transphobic staff. That about covers everything
Saturday isn’t the night for drag though... too many people... that want to dance. I Have the best time otherwise!!
Sooooo much talking, came here for Halloween and there was nothing but talking. Where’s the music? Trash vibe for Halloween but good drinks and decently priced.
I’ve been there once and never again. The bartender who actually was the manager loved himself a way to much and put this attitude a way to high.
Always packed, drinks are pricy, the place smells like chlorine, and the people who frequent this place are messy with no respect. The parking lot is also small. I probably wont return.
OMG this place is so much fun! I bring coworkers, friends and family! Especially on Sunday nights, the drag show is the best.
Charlie’s is awesome! Went for Wednesday bingo and had the greatest time! Can’t wait to go back 100%
WellIf you dont go to same bartender for a drink you might pay a different price!Prices arent consistent throughout club
Me and my wife loved our experience last night it was bomb...great crowd friendly people great drinks for good prices....
Love that because tha people that work there is very friendly. And very🔥 the drag show is very good I give a 10 the drink is very good cheap hote man 🔥🔥🔥🍆🍆🍆
