My bf and I and some of our friends came here Saturday night around 9:30pm. It was a nice ambience, we were able to pre game at the bar until the DJ of the night arrived around 11pm. The selection of music was great, we danced all night and had amazing drinks and service. The crowd of people were so nice and laid back. I would definitely recommend and come back. Thank you for an amazing time!

I was here on a Summer Friday at midnight and I appreciate that this place didnt get too crowded... just the right amount of people for me. Loved the lighting and the DJ! Its almost like the perfect spot for those of us who used to party at the old 18th st lounge in our 20s 😅 and want the music drinks and vibe without the overcrowding and sloppy drunk ppl. Id go back for sure!

As a customer of the former Eighteenth Street Lounge, I wasn’t sure how this new spot was going to be like— I had some concerns about it and just wanted to give it a try last Thursday. They have amazing bartenders like Caro. She is SUPER friendly and funny. Her cocktails tastes so good which is why I will definitely be back. The new concept is also nice. They have enough place for everyone to dance. Great vibes, drinks, and space. Will definitely keep coming back but unfortunately several times Ive ordered a simple drink like an old fashioned (just specifying rye) the bartenders use a top shelf option only for me to find out later when closing my tab. Guess Ill have to ask if theres an upcharge when I order in the future—not usually a problem at other bars I visit.

What a vibe! Came here on my birthday with a group of ~10. We arrived around midnight, and the top floor was packed and everybody was dancing to a variety of instrumental house, R&B, and Latin music. To find space for our group, we moved downstairs where there was also a dance floor and bar. Music was mainstream but it was fun and the DJ knew what he was doing. We moved back upstairs later and the music was still choice. There’s plenty of coat hooks and a coat rack, and water stands so I felt comfy. It wasn’t too busy by 1am, so there was space to move. Only downside is that the patio was closed.

Love this place. The wood floors vibrate to the music. They have a variety of genres being played live and by DJ simultaneously in different rooms so you can flow from vibe to vibe and feel like youre club crawling without leaving the building. The crowd is late 20s-30s and a bit more sophisticated/professional than other venues in the area, without being pretentious. The drinks arent cheap, but I feel that the quality of entertainment is worth paying a little extra for. I make it a point to stop in for a little dancing whenever Im in DC.

Dance music scene at its finest. ESL has one of the best vibes of any venue anywhere. The music talent is fantastic. Its the birthplace of Thievery Corporation after all. House DJs, Trip-Hop, Downtempo, Live Jazz & Latin fusion most notably come to mind. Contributing to the good vibes is that its a townhouse converted into a lounge/club so theres several different rooms to explore. Another bonus is that theres hardly any douchey-ness to the crowd at all.

Admittedly, the music is not my favorite. Electronic sets left me waiting for words, and long waits at small bars left plenty of time for me to consider my next bar. Ive only been here at night, so my review is strictly of the nightlife here and from my point of view. This place is a pretty decent time. Drinks are fairly good and not ridiculously priced. It can get quite crowded at times. The crowded nature means that it can get quite warm, which is why many people head to the patio out back, however this place is like an Afghan opium den because of all the smokers. If you are not a fan of cigarette smoke, you are not going to like the patio. If you can get past the crowds and the smokers outside, you get to enjoy a very unique venue. On Fridays, you can enjoy up to four different music areas including some live jazz upstairs. The variety of music alone is worth checking this place out. The cover can be a bit steep, but the quantity and quality of the music on offer probably makes it worth it.

Mediocre 70s music nobody knew mixed with even more mediocre modern music. Came in there with a friend. We ordered a Jameson, a Stella and a Titos and soda. From a pink haired dark bartender. We had our cash in our hands. She told us the total was 75$. Asked her to repeat that a few times to be sure I heard correctly. I asked if that was with the service charge she said no. This is dc prices. 😆 So I asked for the itemized bill. She said she was unable to print it. Me, being in the industry as a bartender myself, asked why not. She said she would have to get her manager and it would take atleast an hour. So we handed her our card and it ended up being rang in for around 40 something. Including a service charge. Im not a fan of over charging, essentially stealing, bc you think we have cash and are clueless and wont question you. My first time to the new location, and it put a bad taste in my mouth.

Oh yeah I forgot, the patio has a bar too!!!!I love everything about it. Never too crowded like Park on 14th street and the music is all over the place (in a good way). The music is happy and up beat, not like the normal drugs, money, hoes genre that you hear in a club. The people are joyful and are usually always willing to dance, not just stand there to take up space and try to look cool. The best nightlife experiences Ive had as a customer. I arrived in DC in 2014. I came, I saw, I conquered. This is STILL the best place in DC. Unpretentious. Sophisticated. Integrated--- not just diverse. You can find anything you want in this place, unless you are looking for the following: rock; country; or gansta rap. They pretty much have you covered on the rest of the genres. They have usually have 3-4 different rooms available for music. Relatively inexpensive (7-9 bucks for a well shot). Great ambiance. Solid bouncers aka they dont try to kill you. Watch the bartenders because they can get a little sneaky, (especially the women) when it comes to charging for well vs top shelf, and not telling you about it. Im tired writing now...

The bars( there is one on each level) are well stocked with tenders that know what they are doing(I dont drink but most of their mixes are done very well and intriguing to watch). The music selections are on point and at 11 on Fridays they have live Jazz....cant go wrong there. This is more the style of a three story speak easy than a club. Get there early...but if you have to wait. I have to say that it is worth it. Highly recommend this place.

Went on a Tuesday night. Drinks were good and I loved the way the bar/dance floor was set up. My issue is that the DJ that was there played nothing but random obscure music. If only 2 people are dancing out of 40+ for 10-15 songs in a row, I would imagine you would wanna shake it up, but he just kept playing music that didn’t seem to have any effect on the crowd. Also, the wait for my first drink was about 10 minutes. It wasn’t the bartender’s fault, she was working quick. There were just too many people for her to keep up.

My sisters and I were looking for a nice place to finally spend time together and this place popped up in my research. I loved the interior design and being someone who has never been to a lounge before - this place was really welcoming! The bartenders were nice, the people were friendly - the music was also very diverse. The one thing i loved the most was the layout of the place - its divided into so many parts that I honestly dont know how many there are - my sisters and I stayed on the main floor where they played hip hop/ and rnb. Around midnight, we were having such a ball! Ladies, there are men who get a bit drunk and hover over you but dont worry - the security is tight and when the bouncer saw a guy bothering my sisters and I - he immediately stepped in. Plus - dont be afraid to speak up if you feel uncomfortable. I had to keep moving away from this guy until finally I had no choice but to verbally tell him off - it worked. Overall, the interior is a bit victorian, plenty of couches to sit and catch your breathe, great selection of music, friendly bartenders, not too badly priced, and clean environment. This will definitely be our place to go to on Fridays!! Great for everyone! I really wanted to check out the rooftop but it was raining - but next time! Check this place out for sure!

The one thing is the drinks; they suck, like bad. Our drinks were way too sweet and my two friends and I--and there is not a cocktail snob among us---could tell that the ratios were way off. That said, I wasnt really a fan of the crowd or ambiance.Great music and a unique feel, but for a lounge I found the seating to be lacking (tons of open space they could fill with seating), particularly at the bar (5 chairs for a large bar, one of which was taken by the staff.) I really enjoyed myself! The music was very good. It has 3 or 4 different kinds if music. House music , R&B, a area where you can sit down like a lounge area it looks like a big old house. It was 10.00 to get in.

Bartenders cant make drinks. I ordered 2 drinks from 2 different bartenders - a tequila sunrise and a vodka soda, and I put both down after the first sip. How do you mess up a vodka soda? The music was alright, but the dance floors are small. Security had to stunt and had us waiting in line for no reason - we went inside and there was barely anyone I there. Overall, I wasnt impressed and wont be back.

5 stars! The only place a new yorker will feel like they *might* be in new York and not DC! The space is awesome with different rooms, including an outdoor area, although I am a sucker for lounges in old townhomes. The crowd was also the best Ive seen in DC to date. Its a nice mix of people.

The evening started out pretty good, but after spending over $120 on 6 drinks we decided to sit on the lovely antique couch and the rude waitress came over and told me I was not allowed to sit on the couch unless I was ordering drinks from her... Very rude. Very unprofessional. I literally just sat my empty glass on the table...D.C. was amazing, but I would recommend another bar/lounge nearby.

Worst place in DC! Please DONT waste your time. I planned a birthday here and from the very beginning, the front door man, whom claimed to be the manager was rude and demeaning. When the other door guy came, he began to yell profusely. I asked him not to be rude and yell in front of people and make a scene. He then said “yes, you are right. sorry” . Afterwards, we went upstairs and saw empty seats, and tried to make the best of night by dancing and moving the tables a bit to side so we have a little space to dance. The server then comes by and starts rudely demanding we put it back. I said to her, I’ll comply but if she could give until the end of the song to move it back to its place, and she started yelling back and personally moved it back. After 5 minutes, she returned and said, if you’ don’t buy drinks from me you have to leave the area. I explained to her that every single person had just bought a drink from the bar and if she gave us some time, we could buy drinks using her instead. She acted unpleased and walked away. It was as if she was trying to kick us out of something. The music was terrible!! Out of 14 people, no one any of it. The entire building smelled like cigarettes! This is the first time I am writing a negative review. I was more than patient with them but they ruined my night. Please SAVE your time.

18th street features a revolving array of themed nights from Brazilian to dance music. This bar/club has an amazing atmosphere and pulls an extremely diverse crowd. Drinks are expensive but also poured heavy handedly...which depending may or may not be a good thing. The outdoor area has another bar and DJ that allows smoking. It also features a fireplace room, a couch/table service area, a dance floor with live music, another bar on the second floor with live music and sometimes even a third area. So you get it, plenty of space and lots of people. The place 18th street really shines in keeping the crowd diverse with their changing music nights. I recommend trying out the club on various nights just to get a taste. One note, there is a cover after 11 and you need to have shoes and pants..no flip flops or shorts for guys.

I have never written a review because frankly my life gets fairly busy most times plus I have never really seen the use, well not until now. On Friday December 15th, 2017, I visited this establishment with a few friends to hang out. We went from room to room as we normally do, buying drinks and chatting freely; not until we got to the deck bar at about 1:00 am; after ordering a couple of drinks, the bar tender; a white woman in her late 20’s suddenly got very disrespectful, refusing me service with no explanation what so ever, when I confronted her she actually told me to “F*UCK Off, I am not serving you drinks”. I have never been that embarrassed in my life. How can such an establishment that brands itself with having high class service and respect for customers allow such despicable characters serve as its brand ambassadors. I am disappointed.

The crowd ebbs and flows, heavier on Fri-Sat, especially when schools out, as most seem nearer high school than old school. The second and third floors have rooms used for private events which are ok if dim light and thumping house mix leaking in are tolerable. On Tuesday nights, theres a tango class at 8 for beginners and a dance 9-1. Dont park out front ever, nighttime boot/tow zone poorly marked, though not possible right now due to suspicious construction zone the clubs on the block may have engineered.
