1st time there and would highly recommend. Self care is health care and they do it all here. Amazing atmosphere and customer service. They took me as a walk in, but they do suggest you make an appointment. Haircut, hot towel, razor, steam facial. I was curious about a mens pedicure and they accommodated me right away. Treat yourself and support this black owned business in the fashion district. We need more of this.

My first experience at this shop was great! The atmosphere is welcoming, and my barber, Sam, did a great job! My cut is feminine, crisp and clean. I love the hot towel service and mini scalp massage too! Ive booked my next cut and look forward to going back 🙌🏾

Went for the first time Saturday 6/22/24. I must say I was very impressed by the service and shop. My service was excellent. Ms. Dawn is my new barber. Excellent touch!!

This is a black owned and operated barbershop centered in the heart of Detroit’s fashion district. My 13 year old comes to get his hair cut every 2-3 weeks and it is always a welcoming and comfortable experience. This shop is family friendly and run like a well oiled machine. Very professional and walking distance from other local black owned businesses on the fashion district strip. I received a mini facial and massage! Both services by different people, and I loved them both! Very inviting, knowledgeable, and professional!

My first time in the shop I was immediately hooked the atmosphere was relaxing and staff very friendly and professional. Corey cut my hair and did a phenomenal job.I made my next appointment before leaving the shop and referred 4 of my family members who are now faithful customers as well. Now this was my second time going here off a rec recommendation of my wifes beautician The first visit was excellent They fitted me in last minute and it was my birthday. But my next visit didnt go so well and I waited over an hour for my barber who didnt show up but then that time of my appointment so Im not sure what happened I understand life but I would preferred to have just been told can we make another appointment or do you want to see another barber before I waited an hour for the barber I made the appointment for that option wasnt offered until I decided to leave Im torn on any return visit because time is something I wont get back and I didnt feel as though my time was valued and on their website if you waste their time then you have to pay a fee but if you waste my time its an old well were sorry. But my first visit was excellent professional my hair was cut just right and to my surprise it was actually the owner that cut my hair very well conversationed loved it Ill try to make another appointment on another date and see how it goes and I was disappointed to find out that the barber I chose was actually the owners son I hope everything is okay with him but again I would have rather been told would you like another barber for your appointment thats I have to wait an hour for no appointment

Absolutely love this place. Its clean and they have great hospitality. Ebony is literally the BEST hair stylist. I get compliments as soon as I leave the shop. A must go-to for the best experience in all areas.

I really feel like giving it a 4 star but as a business owner will give them the benefit of the doubt.I met the owner and the receptionist and they were both very lovely women. The shop itself deserves the trophy they got!My only complaint is with my barber, Brian.I came for a haircut and beard trim, and Brian did do a good job on the haircut, but the beard that I grew for 3 months in order to get the best effect was totally messed up. It was too thin (while I specifically asked to keep it as thick as possible) and uneven under the chin and on the cheeks.Anyway, Brian if you are reading this, please work on your beard trim game.

The quality of service is TOP NOTCH! I truly enjoyed the shave and beard trim. Please come by and give them a try if youre in the Detroit area.

The friendliness of the staff and atmosphere blew me away. My reasonably priced haircut felt like a luxury experience. My barber, Sam, was welcoming, witty, and professional. He even managed to make me look good by the end of it.

Ive been to barbers before but Shears and Shaves is a superior experience. Walking in youll experience courtesy and professionalism on a higher level. Dawn and the staff were very welcoming and the service was excellent. My beard trim included a facial along with a beard wash. This is more like a spa/barbershop experience than just a regular cut. Ill be making this my regular spot. You definitely have to try it.

I searched and searched for a shop that had female barbers and an atmosphere that welcomed women. I couldnt find one where I felt fully comfortable. Then I found shears and shaves on IG. The decision to walk in the door and patronize this business was by far the best choice I made in a long time. I was greater by EVERYONE (receptionist, all the barbers, a client and the owner Dawn). The shop is modern, sharp and clean. My barber Sam listened to what I wanted and when I made an adjustment he rolled with it. The Cherry on top was his Michigan State University jacket. I would definitely recommend this business, any of its barbers and I will be going back.

This is another beautifully decorated and well kept Black business in Detroit. It is a salon and barber shop and it is first class. The stylists are professional friendly and really know their stuff. I take my son there to get cut bys. Dawn the owner. I feel confident and safe with him being there without the inappropriate yet traditional type of banter between adults that goes on in many barber shops. The waiting area has chess and positive current local and national publications, there is an 80in TV for patrons to watch while getting services which usually has positive programming on it (R&B or Gospel concerts, sports, news etc.) I love that this business is right here on The Avenue of Fashion and part of the positive growth of Detroit. My sons hair looks great every time she cuts it. This is our spot.

The best place for one stop services. I get the best hair cut and body massage at Shears & Shaves. Cheryl, provides the best massages based on the body tension. You will walk out floating on air. Ive been patronizing this establishment for almost a year and couldnt be happier with the level of detail.

I had the pleasure of doing my “big chop” with Ms. Dawn, the owner of this establishment. She was incredibly nice and super professional. She has over 33 years of experience cutting hair!!! I showed her a picture of how I wanted my hair cut and she NAILED IT! She explained what she was doing while she worked, and even the products she was using. All of the staff was very professional and they were careful to take COVID precautions, so I felt very safe being serviced. I will definitely return! FYI, this business has a Salon, Spa AND a barber shop all under one roof.

I absolutely love this place. Joann is the Best!Jackie, is professional, polite, and knows how to do some hair! Ok, I have one little small complaint since I take reviews honestly. I didnt care for the Pedicure that Ive recently had. The girl that do them is really nice, polite and professional I didnt get a foot, leg or chair massage and that relaxing feeling I think one should have after a good Pedicure. And for the price, $55 I did expect more. But, all and all I would highly recommend this place. You we definitely feel safe from Covid-19 and Detroiters, you will feel welcomed and you will be satisfied. Try them out!

Had been growing the samurai COVID look for over a year. My old shop closed down during the pandemic so had been searching for a new one in the meantime. Id past by them a couple times and decided to give them a shot with a cut and shave.All I have to say is Jeff is the man. He knew exactly what he was doing and did his art mastetfully. Some people know exactly when they want going in. I had a general idea, but a master barber knows how to pull it off with all the unspoken adjustments for your head and face. The shave itself was a whole nother story with all the massages and towels and steam. Excellent experience.All the staff from the desk manager, to other barbers were great. Felt like a family. They have both womens and mens services, come check it out on the Livernois Avenue of Fashion. This place is def my new spot. Thank you to the great team behind it.
