SOAK Spa at The Detroit Club

I was booked a surprise birthday spa day by my friends which was absolutely amazing. The ambiance is incredible and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. My massage was great the massage therapist was very attentive and made sure the pressure level was good throughout the massage. I really enjoyed the jacuzzi, it was very relaxing. The place was clean and I had no concerns with sanitation. My overall experience was very pleasant and I especially enjoyed and appreciated the young lady Eva at the front desk. She was extremely helpful and made sure my experience was amazing. She was very kind with an amazing spirit.

Lovely concept. Fantastic massage therapist. Truly wonderful!The receptionist asked me to pay for my service and tip 20% upon entry. She agreed to cancel it and let me pay after, but it’s a little off-putting when I hadn’t received the service yet.Very clean and well-decorated ladies’ area, bathrooms, and sauna.DUSTY soaking area! I could barely stay the 30 minutes without sneezing. You can visibly see large hairballs and lint on the floor near the Buddha statue. I’m also not sure how clean the water was. This is not acceptable.There were no cushions on the egg chairs; I guess they are just there for decoration.No candles, spa scents, or even incense burning in the halls or spa area.It’s just an oversized jacuzzi with so much dust that I left stuffy. The grotto area smelled like an abandoned basement.For the price of this experience, I expect much better. No matter the day of the week or how many clients are on the books, the service and atmosphere should always be top tier and reflective of the prices attached.

All the staff was WONDERFUL! My massage therapist was exceptionally well trained and experienced. She found and worked on tension knots that I have known about for a while but did not even bring up during evaluation!! I am not sharing a name…gatekeeping. Love the vintage ambiance of this spa situated in a historical building with the option to stay at the upstairs hotel and visit the dinning room. Being able to use the grotto and weight room afterwards was a plus!I would like to see; free parking for spa guests, more training on scalp massages my friend was not impressed with that add on service, unfortunately there are only 2 private places to change the shower or toilet room, and the shower drained very slowly. so expanding and updating the amenities should be a goal to improve the facility.

OUTSTANDING!! the atmosphere was relaxing, the smells, & the music was all on point. Literally EVERYONE who helped & worked there was very nice and accommodating. Sade did an excellent massage with the right amount of pressure & she was very nice. Natasha did my facial and its obvious that she takes pride in her work & she also does an excellent job. SOAK was a vibe. The sauna & the Grotto hottub felt good after the massage. I recommend!

The good was the staff. The staff was WONDERFUL! Matt at the front desk was super accommodating. The massage and facial was great!The bad: this is an old building and you can tell. The place where you soak smelled like mildew and mold. There was a speaker on the ceiling that was disgusting. The sauna didn’t work. There was a locker room however the only private place to change is either the shower or the toilet room. I will not be returning here unless the amenities are updated/throughly cleaned.

We did a couples massage for my boyfriends birthday. What an amazing experience! The staff at Soak Spa were so welcoming and accommodating. The massages were amazing. The atmosphere is so peaceful. The locker rooms and the grotto are beautiful. Such a relaxing night. Highly recommend. Will have to try food and drinks upstairs next time.

My daughter took me for my birthday, this place is wonderful. We both got 80 minute massages and afterwards we got into the hot tub and they had a wonderful charcuterie board waiting. We already booked for next month. The two ladies who did our massages we very professional 😊 looking forward to our next visit

Excellent relaxing experience from start to finish. The ambience and peacefulness was priceless. I received a wonderful massage from Latia and excellent customer service from the entire staff. Cant wait to come back.

If I could give this Spa a negative rating I would, but its not an option. A group of us girls came down for a Birthday weekend and were looking forward to the spa. Upon arriving, filling out paperwork and checking in the rude front desk staff told me that I would have to reschedule. That they didnt have room. When the other girls arrived they were not ready and didnt have room. I was so upset, they were rude, offered no conciliation nothing!!! We drove 4 hours! If they were going to cancel they should have given us proper notice, that would if been a littler better. So unprofessional!!!!!!Also the spa is dirty, has mold and is gross!! Save your money and time and go elsewhere.

It’s a 100% YES from me! I absolutely ADORE the Soak Spa! My husband and I spent a lovely weekend at the Detroit Club and the Soak Spa was the absolute highlight of our getaway. We had an 80 minute couples massage, followed by a soak in their beautiful hot tub. The spa is located in the basement and every inch of it is gorgeous. It’s fancy and luxurious. The staff was so kind and accommodating. You get a robe and a locker for all your belongings and there’s tons of amenities in the woman’s locker room area if needed. There’s also an infrared sauna in there that you can use too! (Same for the mens locker room as well.)The massage I had was incredible. I usually go to the Beach House Day Spa (prior to my discovery of Soak Spa) but this experience was unlike any other. The massage therapist put so much effort into making sure she was using the perfect amount of pressure. They also used the steamed towels during the massage like 5-6 times, which I LOVED! Now for my favorite part: THE SOAKING TUB! I love hot tubs and I’m constantly searching for new experiences that involve them in Michigan. This soaking tub is HUGE and gorgeous. The most beautiful one I’ve managed to find in Michigan… and the biggest. It’s pretty private and filled with bubbles! I could’ve stayed in there all night. Getting to soak after my massage was the cherry on top of the perfect spa experience. Overall, the soak spa is A+ for service, quality, and aesthetics. If you’re looking for a full on TRUE spa experience, this should be your go to place! I left feeling so pampered!

A great place to relax and enjoy jacuzzi. Came for massage and facial, staff was very friendly and professional. Not sure about the reviews of a bad smell - rather it’s god they use chlorine in jacuzzi so it’s sanitary. I personally didn’t find anything wrong about it. Of course, there are more modern ways to disinfect the pool (UV, salt etc). Perhaps, someday they have the budget for more modern technology, but I think it’s a minor nuance. Showers are great, all rooms are cozy and smell nice. Would be better if the temperature was a bit warmer - I was slightly cold.

My friend and I treated ourselves to shoulder, neck and upper back massages. I had Deanna. She was amazing!! I felt completely transformed after her massage. I will definitely go back to see her!Valerie at the front desk was extremely welcoming and warm.The only recommendation I would make is to have the treatment room be warmer.

Even though I paid for spa services, I feel like I got a beautiful unique experience.I indulged in the Perfectly Polished package for my birthday. My body polish and massage, done by the sweet DeAnna, was everything I wanted purely because of how accommodating she was. I had, unfortunately, received a couple of scratches on my leg from my cats the day before, therefore, DeAnna switched me from a salt scrub to a sugar scrub to minimize any irritation. Her pressure was so good that I didnt even notice when she went over my scratches, but still felt like every muscle was worked on. 10/10 for DeAnnas expertise.My Soak Signature facial was done by the amazing Natasha. Not only did she ask and listen to my specific skin goals, she was also able to accommodate my skin needs as she went, and listened to my body throughout the entire process, making this the absolute best facial Ive ever had. And the cherry on top was all the information and education she provided to ensure I maintained the best results.The front desk staff were also top tier! Im non-alcoholic and they were easily able to substitute the alcohol drink for relaxing tea with honey. They made me feel so warm, comfortable, and welcomed for my entire visit. Their conversation was engaging and polite, they were all well groomed and maintained, and you could tell they ACTUALLY liked each other and took pride in their work.The experience Soak Spa provided me was truly amazing and Im so happy I chose to spend my birthday with them.

This was my second professional massage. While I was nervous, Natasha was calm and professional and Jess made checking in and out a wonderful experience for me and my wife. The spa felt clean and the ambiance was great. We will be returning.

My girlfriends and I LOVED this place. I was in town for my birthday and we decided to go here. Natasha went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our massages and was the most awesome sweetest person times 5 ever!! Sarah gave great facials and wonderful service. She left my face feeling great. And the hottub was the cherry on top. We will definitely plan a trip and include Soak Spa on the next time around.

I booked a spa day for myself and 2 friends about a month in advance, and from the beginning I should have seen the red flags. Their online booking system was down, so I had to call to schedule, I talked to 2 different people, and even though I wanted to book packages for each of us, their system would not allow it so I had to break down every package and book 6 services; which the staff guaranteed they would book appropriately and apologized for. Today my friends and I had our appointments and it was a disaster from the beginning. Two of my appointments “somehow got canceled” from their system, so the lady was scrambling trying to accommodate us all, talking a mile a minute about how she is going to make it all work. I already paid a deposit for all these services, mind you, and she immediately begins talking about how she’s adjusting the appointments and “it will all work out.” Inbetween my services I check my phone and see that she has now charged me $38 x 2 as another deposit on top of my 2 services that had “gotten canceled” by their system. My friends and I also did not get our services coordinated together so were unable to spend any time together lounging or in the grotto. The services were subpar for the prices; the esthetician did not use a streamer for the facials and was doing extractions in a dimly lit room. Once we were all finished with our services and trying to settle the bill is where I completely lost respect for this business. The lady kept talking about how “we will make this right” yet could not show me a printout bill of what she had charged me for or my previous deposit. She was very hung up on trying to give me a discount when all I wanted from her was an appropriate breakdown of the services. She was very flustered and unprofessional. And STILL could not give me a bill breakdown and also has not emailed me one as she said she was going to do. I will be disputing these charges with my credit card company and warn anyone that is looking to go here to turn around and run.

Historical place, very nice spa: massage, facial and a hot tub. Staff is very friendly, all the treatments are done by professionals with good skincare products. A great way for me time, to unplug and enjoy bodycare.A few things to consider for the SPA:- thin cotton towels that are used for pools/hot tubs, that can be left there. Using cotton towels is a bit of a waste and grabbing two towels makes no sense (for shower and to dry up after the hot tub)- rooms felt a bit cold for treatments, I was feeling a bit cold and hands of girls were also not extremely warm. Women has generally lower body temperature and we need slightly warmer environment, also not to mention that body relaxes more in a warmer room (given when you relax your body temp drops as well).

All staff was really friendly and even comped our bottles of champagne! We came in with a group and the staff was helpful in giving us an overview of our service and the spa amenities and let us relax in the spa for hours after our treatment. It was such a relaxing and lovely experience. There was someone there while we were there who was nude in the hot tub and rude to people, but they were asked to leave and escorted out, so I trust the staff with keeping things clean and ensuring people are comfortable.

Decided to splurge for my wifes 40th. I wish I was better at remembering names, but on Friday, May 24th, the entire staff was absolutely phenomenal. Thank you to everyone working that made our experience so special.

Yesterday I treated my sweetie to a 80 minute couples massage at Detroit Soak Spa. When I say this was the best experience I’ve ever had it truly was. We were greeted by the amazing front desk staff and assisted with top tier customer service from beginning to end. Latia was my Massage Therapist. She was truly amazing, friendly, and passionate about her job! My sweetie had nothing but positive things to say about his Massage Therapist, Deanna!!! Safe to safe we both will be back.

Latia, my massage therapist was friendly and absolutely amazing. She provided the best service. I had the mineral salt scrub and a massage. 10/10... I rate her 10/10. 4 star rating because of some confusion with front desk. It was rectified when brought to their attention.

We had a couples massage last night. The ambiance was beautiful upon arrival however due to them having a huge party prior to our appointment we did not get to enjoy the waiting area together and had to wait in the locker rooms for our service. The massages were subpar and that was disappointing. We both get massages often and expected better for the costThe hot tub was nice. However the huge party was still in the ladies rooms 2 hours after my appointment started and I couldnt enjoy the sauna and had to wait to shower and get dressed and the locker room was now a mess.Disappointing but good customer service.

Soak Spa is in the beautiful Detroit Club. The building is closed on Sundays, but the loveliest hostess came and let me in. We were transported via small elevator to the loveliest, most unexpected, serene spa. I was given a tour of the facilities and I met my esthetician.Soak’s amazing front desk was able to accommodate me last minute on a Sunday! I was booked in for the Fire & Ice facial. It did not disappoint.My treatment with Kay was out of this world! My skin hasn’t looked this good in a long time. I was glowing! The atmosphere and amenities were lovely, and I would definitely return on a future Detroit trip!

My daughter booked an appointment at this establishment. She could have gone anywhere, but chose this place. She was sick with Covid and could not make the appointment. As a result, I was calling on my daughters behalf so she can get her $70 deposit. Therefore she cancelled her appointment and her friends. Her friend had the option of rescheduling for some reason, but my daughter did not and lost her deposit. The manager, Allie (if thats how her name is spelled) was EXTREMELY RUDE and hung up on me! My daughter and I are both business professionals and we were both shocked at the bad attitide displayed by this manager, along with no consideration. This place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Save your money, as they do not care about how they treat customers, and are only interested in the money!

I had a good time! I highly recommend the Swedish hot stone massage! And def enjoy the salt grotto

It is a very beautiful space, I just wish it was a little bit more spacious. The hot tub and sauna were great. Matt at the front desk was very friendly, and so was my masseuse. The only complaint I have is that I wish she had done a little bit more pressure on the massage (although to be fair, I never asked for her to adjust it) otherwise it was a great experience. All and all it is very relaxing place!

Me and my Maids of Honor went for a pre-wedding spa day. Had a facial, a massage, and lounged in the hot tub. The place is GORGEOUS! The staff is professional. Loved the vibe, even enjoyed me a bottle of champagne

Awesome couples massage, and The Detroit Club was just so cool.The changing areas have lots of privacy, the whole experience was easy and comfortable, the hot tub is just wow.The masseuse did a great job and I felt like it was worth every penny and tip.

I booked two appointments for my husband and I for our anniversary. I just got an email stating that my husbands appointment was cancelled and no reason was given. The appointment is supposed to be in 5 days. I have called several times and left a voicemail and have not received a response. Poor communication and customer service!!

This was truly my first professional massage and I am completely satisfied. I had Deanna and OMG! She was great, very pleasant, gentle, and precise. She got me hooked. I will be going back once a month. Thank you again, Deanna!

The experience was absolutely wonderful. Deanna Gavin did a fantastic job. After I left her, a lot of the pain I was in was gone. I truly recommend everyone to see her shes awesome!!!!

My better half and I were there last weekend and both of us enjoyed a wonderful massage. Along with the massage we were served champagne and an excellent charcuterie board in an area right next to the spa. Try it. You won’t be disappointed.

Stayed downtown for a little staycation for the wifes birthday and we could not have been more happy with our experience at SOAK and the Detroit Club hotel. Sade was who gave me my message and it was the best message I have ever received as if she was listening to my body and adjusting to what was needed. The hotel room was spacious, clean, and nice. We closed down the bar with Nigel our bartender and it was just an all around great night out.

My girls and I came here to celebrate a birthday and the whole experience was amazing. Special thanks to Natasha for taking wonderful care of me. I will definitely be back.

Enjoyed a phenomenal couples massage over a holiday weekend getaway to celebrate our engagement. Spa was top notch, service was everything wed hoped and finished the visit with a dip in their saltwater hot tub. Highly recommend.

I had a 50 minute deep tissue massage with Mike LaFier. It was by far the best massage Ive ever had! He was compassionate, he was strong, gentle, knowledgeable about his job and very experienced. This was my 1st experience with a male massage therapist as I always request a woman but they were so great about getting me in and HOUR BEFORE THEY OPENED!! (I was staying at the hotel) So I was able to have one last massage Sunday morning before we left for the weekend. Anyway I forgot to specify and decided to give it a go anyway and I AM SO GLAD I DID!! THANK YOU MIKE!!!! I will request you again and again!

We had the most amazing experience at Soak. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating. The entire experience from the soak, to the massage, to the facial was the best I have experienced. I didnt want to leave. The Detroit Club is beautiful and this is a hidden gem.

Don’t go here! front desk people were unfriendly and argumentative when my wife used a gift certificate that I bought for her — $300. I wanted her to have a relaxing and positive experience. Instead she was stressed and humiliated.Terrible customer service!

I had a head, neck, and shoulder massage from LaTia. And I was put on another planet called relaxation. I can honestly say I haven’t felt that much relief and relaxation in a long long time. Tia has magic hands. 1000/10 would recommend!

If I can leave this place 0 stars I would! We scheduled a couples massage for Valentine’s Day weekend which is also my birthday (which we told them when we booked) a few weeks ago and a man named Matt who is extremely disrespectful and rude called and told us they had to cancel our appointment because they are hosting a party at their spa. We have called 10 other places and now that it’s last minute, no one is available. They have no respect for peoples time and basically said we were SOL and to top it all off the guy Matt hung up the phone while we were talking! Never recommending this place to anyone and in fact I will go out of my way to tell people not to book here.

This was THE WORST experience I have ever had! I would give it ZERO stars if I could. From the moment I walked in, it was a bad experience. My massage was over an hour late. The manager MARY was so rude and kicked me out of the spa. the girl at the front desk was clueless and unprofessional. This place is terrible. They couldn’t find a key for the locker and it was not clean!!!!!!! DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME! I ended up going to Margot Spa in Birmingham and it was delightful!!

We had our spa booked on a Thursday and it was perfect because we had the whole bubble bath for us. The couple massage was great and the whole experience was amazing.

First time going to this spa and had high expectations for it being in a Detroit.Very disappointed in my massage, as I was taken to a very cluttered room with filthy floors and dirty sheets.The lights were kept on, there was no music (a loud fan in the background), and no head rest for when you’re laying on your stomach. My neck is sore having to lay it on the side.My 50 min massage lasted only 20 min and it was just to put lotion on my body. There was no technique to it.I was given a robe, but no slippers so I had to walk barefoot to my room and back to the locker room.I’ve never experienced anything like this at a spa before.

All I wanted was a relaxing day, however my appointment was completely mis-managed.Took about 3 back and fourths and then she never put me on the books. I finally was able to get an appointment, but alas I should have know this would be a problem.The spa was dirty, cold and they even had their esthetician wash their bowls in the same room I was waiting in.My 90 minute facial was maybe 20 minutes. There was no music, lights were on, no bed warmer….Don’t waste your time here.

Omg my husband found this place on Google yesterday and we were able to get an appointment the next day. We have been to alot of spas but this one is a hidden Gem for sure it seem like they were a lil short staffed and the lady explained that it’s like that sometimes on Sundays but the staff was really friendly so that made it better. Our overall experience was amazing my massage therapist mike was heaven sent he has gifted hands, I told my husband I was gonna put him in my purse and take him with us lol!!!!!!!

The services are really just ok for the price. The facilities are not that different than the “salt hot tub” is a flat out lie — it’s just a regular hot tub (co-Ed by the way so bring your swimsuit). The administration is really an embarrassment. I will never go here again after how disorganized and unprofessional they are.

My experience here was amazing! The staff was so accommodating and knowledgeable, and my massage was the best I’ve ever had. The spa is gorgeous! I can’t wait to come back for another massage.

Wow what an experience. The saltwater hot pool grotto has super powerful jets. The staff are delightful and they have much to offer.

Not clean. Hair all in the showers. Most of the people doing massages don’t even hold a license. They don’t even tell you a total when checking out. Unprofessional. I would never go back. Stay away.

This spa sets the bar! I love the ambience. The men’s lounge is clean and comfortable with a sauna, and the spa has a jacuzzi for extra relaxation after my massage.
