I booked a nights stay at SCP Mendocino inn and Farm on my road trip with my baby brother. Overall, the experience is positive and fun and would recommend staying for a night or two if you happen to be driving passing this area.We booked the king room which is nice, clean, and bright with lots of windows. However, I personally felt that the square footage of the room to be a bit small and due to all the windows, the room could be quite hot during the day even with all the window shades down (no AC) and slightly on the colder side at night (does have heaters). The common area is quite spacious and well-managed in all aspects and thats indeed where we spent lots of time in the daytime. The staffs are all very friendly and helpful--the property shines because of them. One does not have direct view of the sea from this property, but the beach is close and there are llama farm, chickens, garden, and hiking trails on site--so lots of fun activities can be planed. The complimentary breakfast is also fresh and delicious, and thumbs-up for the hearty meal.__________________________________________________________________Below is the Kayak tour review promised to Nicole (sorry it took me a while to getting to write this):We ended up booking our kayak tour with kayak Mendocino and we set off from the Van Damme Beach at 2 pm. The weather was excellent and the temperature very comfortable. We had about fifteen people in our tour and two guides to lead us. The guides are very nice and helpful--pointing to all the points of interests (like seals and sea stars) and telling us what to expect once in a sea cave (like a sharp turn or a shallow spot to avoid). The entire experience felt fun and safe, and my initially nervous brother was so confident towards the end of the tour that he wanted to kayak again with my father to teach him the sport although all his paddling does along the trip is to splash water into my face but I digress... We took a tandem and the price is $160 without any additional tips one might leave (cards & apple pay accepted). I would recommend the tour to you as it is a good opportunity to get to know the sea caves in the vicinity and to have some experienced people watching over you as you explore the fantastic shoreline. Hope you have fun and all the best wishes.
My family and I had a wonderful stay here. The entire property was so charming and relaxing and also very close to Mendocino Town. My daughter especially loved the llamas and chickens that she was able to feed daily. The daily breakfast delivered to your door was also very delicious. We met Nickie the owner onsite and she was lovely. We will be back again :)
We took the suite with soaking tub, the tub was a bit old with peeling paint, but otherwise great. Tasteful interior design and furnishing, our stay was lovely and comfortable. I didnt realize the office only opens until 5pm and didnt call ahead to arrange late check-in, but the office still sent me late check-in instructions ☺️🙏🏻 the chickens and llamas on site were very cute to look at! 100% would come back.
Lovely place to stay and loved the llamas and chickens!! Really pretty grounds and concept for a hotel. Slight downgrade as there was a very limited selection for dinner, food could have been better, and one of our rooms was great but the other was next to the water fountain and not nearly as nice.
We had a wonderful stay at Mendocino Inn and Farm, including a lovely dinner at the restaurant, a fantastic swedish massage, and a fantastic breakfast that was brought to our door and were specific to our food allergies. Id highly recommend staying, but if you have small kids, make sure you request a room that doesnt have an open stairwell (we couldnt let our crawling baby move around much because of it).
This beautiful property has become an annual trip for my family and I. The staff is so kind and helpful. The animals and exquisite garden areas are fun for the whole family. We really enjoyed all of the group gathering spaces available throughout the property. The trail to the beach is easy to access too. I would highly recommend this immersive experience in Nor. Cal.
We had such a wonderful time at this in. Our room was perfect for ourselves, small dog and two young children. We could see the ocean from our room and the chickens and the llamas and the beautiful garden made it all really beautiful. We had one odd experience with someone that worked there, but other than that, it was a really incredible experience and I would go again for sure.
We enjoyed our stay very much and we will be back when we are in the area. The farm and gardens are lovely. We liked visiting with the Llamas, chickens and farm cat. The room was clean and cozy. The breakfast basket was delicious.
To preface this: we stayed here last year and really enjoyed it. I am hoping that this information will be helpful to some. Anyways, we stayed here last year and this year--and the quality (management?) has definitely gone down since then. We notified the front desk that our shower had been leaking nonstop and they said the shower head had already been marked to be replaced. I wish that they would have warned us about that in advance. It seems pretty wasteful for an eco-conscious hotel, and we had to keep a bucket under it to try to conserve the water. My family also ordered me the celebration add-on and the hotel charged our card instead--and only included a bottle of wine and flowers (no truffles). When we noted that, they left us a few store-bought bars of chocolate. The Terra Farm restaurant was closed the entire weekend due to low staffing so we were not able to try it. A warning: if you stay in Ettas Suite (Deluxe Ocean View Queen Suite with Sofa Bed) you can hear EVERY car that passes by. I much preferred the Ocean View King Junior Suite (Stevenscroft)--better decorated and quieter. The llamas and chickens are fun, and the location is beautiful. But we will probably not stay here again.
They have such lovely and unexpected treats for the guests. Upon arrival, there is a jar full of fresh backed cookies or muffins for you to taste. Breakfast is DELIVERED to your room every morning! I mean, who does that?!? The grounds are spectacular and lush. You can feed their chickens and lamas. And upon departure you can fill a satchet with their own lavender. What a fabulous keepsake. All The staff are incredible and friendly. Well done, Mendocino Inn and Farm!
This is a beautiful place to come stay. It’s a cool farm that has chickens that you can feed and there so full of energy. The llamas here are pretty cool as well. You can go into there pasture and hang out with them sometimes if your lucky they will approach you. There is an awesome trail behind the property that leans down to Van Dam State Park. I went there last year as well with my boyfriend and loved it. We had to come back. It’s close to the town of Mendocino. The grounds are super pretty. There are chairs you can sit down in and overlook the llama area and the lush greenery around as well. The chickens get some excited when you bring them some feed. There just the cutest. Also they have fresh egg dishes each morning and it’s always something different. My favorite egg dishes this trip was the breakfast burrito and the baked egg that had mushrooms and tomatoes in it. Such an amazing place. Would always come back.
The location was very convenient for exploring Mendocino and surrounding towns. The rooms are dated and had very poor wifi coverage. There was no TV. The balcony had spiderwebs and had broken floor. Breakfast was par and was conveniently delivered to room.
This place was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we checked in. Our room was clean ... and we loved the fireplace. The hotel is conveniently located about two miles south of Mendocino ... which is charming in itself. Also, a surprise, our room was situated at the start of two trailheads leading to the coast. We did both (less than 10-minute walks) and the sites were spectacular beyond words! Do yourself a favor and experience this place for yourself!
This place is great- BUT there seems to be a lack of communication across the board. The Inn was not full operational when we got there (restaurant closed) and they didnt provide gluten free/dairy free options for breakfast when we specifically asked for this. Dont be fooled by their free breakfast. It is literally not enough to feed a regular sized human and didnt taste like it was prepared same day. This place seems like it is in need of new management. Or maybe upper management just needs to pay attention.
Nikki worked hard to find a perfect room for my situation. The room exceeded my expectations. The farm is beautiful. The beach access from a serene path through wild fuschia and roses was unexpected and delightful. Pricy, but isnt everything?
Spotty connectivity (no cell service, very slow wifi) and a quirky lock system (locked out = after-hours scramble) made my stay at SCP inn a challenge. The free breakfast left me reaching for my own snacks - definitely not enough for an average appetite.Bathroom Issues: Inconsistent water temperature in the shower made showering uncomfortable. A broken shampoo dispenser added to the frustration.Check in late at night is not recommended, hard to find room and no support for a good 20-30 mins if you are locked out.
Wonderful inn on the coast. Access to trails right from your room. Breakfast delivered daily using their own eggs and other goodies. Coffee was top notch. Starting in February 2024, salads and pizza are available on property and the product is delicious!Multiple state parks in the area to explore with endless restaurant options that leverage local produce and seafood.5 minutes to the town of Mendocino, 20 to Fort Bragg.
This is our second time here, and even though its a six day stay, it is hard to say goodbye. This is such a gorgeous property. Delicious breakfasts. Wonderful, friendly, helpful staff. I dont want to leave. I just want to live here.
Great stay, most unique ever! All was great except for some kitchen sounds after 6 am. Maybe a different room next time!!
Such a cute place to stay! The room was extremely clean and I loved having the fireplace with premade wood and newspaper bundles ready to use. The llamas were adorable and so fun that you can feed the chickens. Wine hour was a nice addition with yummy snacks as well right before my massage I booked there (which was also great)! There was also yummy, fresh breakfast delivered to your door in the morning. Highly recommend!
My fiance and I had a wonderful time here. We loved the grounds, we especially enjoyed feeding the chickens and seeing the llamas. Wine hour was a fun plus, with a few snacks. Staff was super nice, there was an issue with the room and they were extremely accommodating and friendly about it without making us feel uncomfortable. We look forward to returning!
Best stay ever. We had an issue at first, and Sequoia went above and beyond to sort it out. This place is so beautiful. Wonderful to see the llamas and chickens. Breakfast is delish and the wine tastings are lovely too. We stayed in two rooms and get the sense that this space is very well run, with clean and immaculate rooms.
We love this place! First Sequoia, one of the managers, went above and beyond to help us with a difficult arrangement. We thank her for her friendliness and professionalism. We normally stay in Rachel’s cottage. Omg! There are sky lights over the bed to look up at the trees. There is a small back patio space that leads to beautiful trails! The breakfast is a real nice touch in the morning and I hear they offer wine tasting. You will love the llamas and they give you chicken feed for the chicks to eat. All in all, this is a romantic, relaxing getaway that you will enjoy! Ask for Sequoia when you book!
Absolutely beautiful destination! All of the flowers were in bloom, and it felt simply magical. There are several trails right off the property that lead to cliff side overlooks, the beach, and the woods. The staff was super friendly, and having farm fresh breakfast delivered right to my door was so nice. Highly recommend visiting this property - you will be glad that you did!
I can’t say enough good things about this magical place! My mom and I stayed at the Mendocino Inn and Farm in the lodge King for two nights. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Homemade delicious breakfast brought to your door every morning. It is surrounded by nature and the location is perfect, sitting just outside the small town. The staff was very friendly and helpful whenever we needed something. We absolutely loved having a real burning wood fireplace in our room. The fresh baked cookies at checkin and wine hour are the sweetest touch. We had such an amazing stay here and we will definitely be back. A must stay!!!
We stayed here on New Year’s Eve at farmhouse’s attic room with amazing ocean view and can also see Llamas from our window.Staff was very friendly and also feeding chicken and petting llamas was fun. The place is very close to couple of short trails and the little river beach which is another plus. The only thing I missed was that their hot-tub was under maintenance when we visited. Also bed and pillows were a little on stiffer side, but not bad.
Sad to report our disappointment at our visit in April -- sad because we honeymooned here in 1983 and have returned at least once every year since. Breakfasts were always a highlight when this was Glendeven, but not so on our recent visit. The egg dishes were rubbery and seemed to have been previously prepared and reheated, and the pastries had a mealy texture. We were also disappointed that the new owners did not provide any in-room housekeeping services for the duration of our stay. While it makes sense to cut back on some of the traditional services (for example, daily sheet changes), the total absence seems insupportable (particularly at these premium prices). But perhaps most distressing was the lack of any response at all to the review we provided to the inn immediately after our stay (a review that the inn solicited and in which we voiced the same concerns discussed above). We were left with the feeling that no one cares about the guests experience, and well stay elsewhere the next time we visit Mendocino.
I give Glendeven 5 stars, but I give our room we had 3 stars. So Im averaging to a 4 star review. The room we had was the Garden Room, which was lovely. But unfortunately it seems to be located under the staff kitchen where they make the breakfasts. So starting at around 6, 6:30 AM there are people walking around above the room constantly. And since its an old building, its not exactly quiet. I feel like this room shouldve been available with a discount, since barely getting any sleep was not worth the price we paid.Other than that the place was lovely! That was really the only downside, so I assume if we had stayed in any other room it wouldve been great! The staff was amazing and friendly and accommodating. The baked goods were amazing in the morning. The breakfasts are hit or miss, since they are set breakfasts and you arent ordering to your tastes, so its a bit of a gamble. I feel like thats just the nature of b&bs in general, and nothing against this place in particular. The quality of the breakfasts are very nice, and theyre happy to make your breakfast with dietary preferences in mind. The classic style rooms are so cute and cozy. The beds are comfortable and the robes are cozy too. You get a complimentary bottle of wine and cookies in the evening, which was a nice treat! They even let you know where all the best places to eat nearby are, and let you know about the places that need reservations in advance. The highlight for me was feeding the chickens! All in all, its a nice place to go! Id definitely consider another trip there in the future!
We stayed in the carriage house & absolutely loved it! The space was cozy - and the bed was so comfortable! Towels and linens were very clean!!!! The TV isnt huge - but I wouldnt say you would stay here to care about watching it much! Theres SO much to do on the property as well as locally. We loved the chickens you could feed and the llamas! Unfortunately no handling right now of the llamas but they said they are getting socialized ones soon! The break was absolutely amazing and fresh!!
My wife and I stayed 3 nights at The Lodge for our babymoon. Our room was very comfy as we enjoyed breakfast one morning in the Farmhouse and remaining days brought to our room. There was a variety of chickens to feed and a few llamas to hangout with which was cool. This is great home base if you plan on eating in Mendocino or Fort Bragg (20 minutes away). If youre a late sleeper like me, you can sometimes hear the neighbor next to you snore through the walls unfortunately and the hot tub was closed off. The staff is super friendly and will accommodate to your needs. Overall very pleased with our stay and would recommend it to anyone who needs a place to slow down, reset, cool off from Sacramento summer heat, drink some wine, and enjoy being with your significant other.
First stay there...very nice room. Very cozy with comfortable sitting area. Private balcony with lovely ocean view. Cons, couldnt get a good fire going, the wood only charred. Breakfasts were not appetizing...vegetarian fare, although the muffins were yummy. No mini fridge, coffee setup or microwave in room...all downstairs in a very small room, very inconvenient. The atmosphere was calm & peaceful, not your typical B&B.
Wonderful location, room and staff.Breakfast could have been a little tastier.
A great place to escape the city and just unwind by the ocean. Etta’s suite is charming and comes with a fantastic, hidden balcony that overlooks the llamas and ocean. The nearby hikes, especially the short hike to a hidden Van Damme beach, are absolute musts. The breakfasts are simply delightful but I wish they were full service or offered dinner services, at least. That is legitimately the only downside and it’s not even that bad because there are plenty of solid eats to be experienced in the nearby Inns, Mendocino, or Fort Bragg. Simply put: there are a number of options of Inns in the area but there is a charm to the Glendeven that made it a really exceptional, unique experience. Thank you to the wonderful staff!
We stayed at the converted Farmhouse at the Glendeven, and it was fantastically homely and cozy. There was an actual wood-burning fireplace in our room, which we made great use of. The breakfast is brought to your door each morning and absolutely mouthwatering- fresh eggs from the chickens on the land, fresh fruits, fresh hot chocolate, and more. Our room faces the llama enclosure, who were adorable to watch. Amazing service, amazing food, amazing sheets! Beautiful views and trails nearby. Highly highly recommended.
I cannot speak highly enough of Glendeven and everyone we encountered there. The property is beautiful and there are walking trails that lead to the beach and the cliffs. We were close to Mendocino (3 minutes by car) but peacefully removed. The accommodations were comfortable and thoughtful. The sheets were outrageously soft! There were guestbooks in our room going back 30 years of happy people, and we added our own delighted note. The breakfasts were perfectly delicious and delivered promptly at 9 am every morning - its vacation, sleep in a little. The llamas were adorably aloof, the chickens eager and happy. There are not enough nice things to say about Glendeven, John, and the staff. I cannot wait to return.
Good location, service and staff. They have wonderful breakfast that is delivered to your room. They have three adorable Llamas on the farm, and you get feed the chickens too
Would absolutely return. Wonderful quiet inn and farm (with chickens and llamas). The rooms are excellent, up to date and spacious. Lots of nice little extras: Labeled parking space. the staff was very friendly.
Absolutely beautiful little hotel, all the small touches go a long way to make this place super cute! I will definitely return to stay here again
Stayed here in August and it was absolutely perfect! Everything about the hotel was whimsical and enchanting. Very spacious rooms with very cozy beds and delicious breakfast delivered to you every morning. The grounds set them apart from other hotels with all the hikes, beautiful flowers, and farm animals. Will definitely be back!
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights before Thanksgiving. Even traveling has become hard after this flu pandemic, we feel very safe in this place because the employees all wore masks and even noticed guests to do that. The atmosphere is great to have a walk and feed chicken or see lama in their garden. The breakfast was wonderful, we enjoyed their bread and egg. There are a lot of small trails and beautiful beaches nearby, and dont forget to try some good restaurants in Mendocino, you will like them.
This place is one of my all-time favorite go-to relaxation spots. In nice weather its an excellent base for hiking forest or shorelines, taking photos or feeding the animals. In bad weather go wine tasting, check out the village, or curl up with a book before the fireplace in many of the rooms. The beds are luxurious, the breakfast tasty, the dinner at the restaurant well worth doing. Ive been here three times now and always go back better than I arrived.
My wife and I were on a road trip from SF to Eureka, and stayed in Glendeven Inn Mendocino for a night. We had such a wonderful experience! The house was surrounded by a lush garden and our window overlooked a llama farm (yes, real cute llamas) and the sea. Its hard to describe the joy and peacefulness of this idyllic place. The room is very clean and stylish, and the details showed a lot of thoughts and consideration. We loved our say and will definitely be back!
Fun stay. Loved the gardens and quick walk to the beach.
Beautiful property! Lots of cute touches like homemade cookies and a basket of breakfast goodies.
Great little inn with historic lodgings and a real homey appeal. We stayed in the Bayloft and really enjoyed the farm+ocean view and thoughtful room arrangement. The room was clean and kept really well. We did run into the occasional spider, but no other pests. The drawers are pretty old, so we didnt use them, but theres a lot of places to store things. The breakfast in a picnic basket is a real nice touch and the food was always great. Seeing the hens and llamas in the morning helped kick the day off right. The staff is very friendly and followed COVID procedures to a tee. We never felt uncomfortable on the premise. We definitely would stay here again!
There are so many things to like about Glendeven: from the personal, reserved parking spot upon arrival; to the hand-written greeting; the wine and cookie treats; the chicken-feeding experience with thoughtfully-planned, recyclable bags; the cozy throws and robes; the sparkling-clean rooms; the lovely views; the friendly staffn the wonderfuln hot breakfast delivered to your door; the plentiful wood for a fire; a lavender sachet from the gardens on checkout. The stars are magnificent, the atmosphere is quiet and tranquil, the beach is a quick walk away. Highly recommend is damning the experience with faint praise. While there are many places to stay in the area, this one is special.
Amazing bed and breakfast in Little River, right next to Mendocino. We had a great stay here, will definitely be coming back and recommending to friends / family. The room was gorgeous, and the staff pay attention to so many little details that make the experience special - such as personal greeting kits and the fireplace being set up perfectly for a quick start. The in-room breakfast was delicious and is a very nice feature especially during COVID. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we felt very safe with the service modifications during the pandemic.Add to that Tesla charging and proximity to Mendocino, Van Damme State Park and lots of great hiking trails, couldnt have picked a better spot.Thank you so much for a special vacation and a much needed recharge after months of not traveling!
Glendeven Inn is a little piece of heaven. We periodically make day trips to the coast. This time we wanted to spend the night. The area around the Inn is rich in hiking trails. There are ocean views from the Inn and several areas to walk on the beach. The Inn is designed for a homey and peaceful experience. Every detail is attended to. Check-in was easy. My parking place had a sign welcoming me with my name. Our room was well appointed. Even our fireplace was ready to go with logs, kindling, and newspaper. So cozy. There are restaurants nearby in Mendocino. After a great nights rest, promptly at 9am our breakfast basket arrived. What a treat! We visited with the Llamas and fed the chickens. The Inn even provided us grain for the chickens (fun). After a late morning walk around the Inn grounds we checked out. We left more than satisfied. This Inn is 5+ stars.
Love, love, love Glendeven Inn!!! The beauty of the gardens, animals, trees all around the property is so proufound and special to be a part of for a visit. We go for our anniversary get aways and just rest in the quiet and luxury of the comfortable rooms. Theres also a ☆Breakfast Fairy☆ who shows up magically every morning with a big basket of deliciousness carefully prepared and.put together with the freshest of ingredients, just for you! Many, many thanks and blessings to the kind, friendly, hard working owners and staff at Glendeven. I highly recommend everyone to choose them for your next getaway to the coast!
What a lovely place! We only stayed for one night unfortunately; I wish I couldve stayed for longer, but we were making our way up the coast and were on a time schedule. The little things, like the cookies and wine when checking in, the personalized parking. It all makes for that much more of an enjoyable experience.
My girlfriend and I stayed there for 3 days over the Christmas holidays at the recommendation of my brother, who had stayed there last year with his partner. It was one of the best places Ive ever stayed at. We got in late at night and they had a parking space with our names on it and a personalized note in our room. Not a big thing, but set a nice tone. The room (we got the garden room) was very nice and thats one of the cheaper rooms. The living room at the farmhouse was great, with a fireplace, tea area, and even high quality brandy that we could have at any time, and not have to pay extra for. Thats nice, as most hotels charge you extra for amenities like that, especially liquor. All the staff were very nice and fun to be around. Especially when we got to feed the llamas, which was at 4:45 every day. (Didnt have to pay extra for that either). They had 6 llamas there in an area next to the farmhouse (where our room was) as well as some cows and chickens. The llamas are fun and love to be fed.All in all, we loved it. I already recommended it to my parents for their 40th anniversary next year. Glendeven is particularly good for honeymoons or wedding anniversaries in my opinion. Its a very romantic place. The towns nearby are great as is the hiking and beaches. One of the best vacations Ive had.
Ive stayed a Glendeven several times now, and every time is amazing. Each time there are a couple new happy surprises they have added - like a welcome sign with your name on it on your parking spot. The breakfasts (brought to your room in a custom basket) are delicious, and the rooms and views are gorgeous. I will definitely be back whenever I need a perfect recharge weekend. Make sure you take a hike along the ocean headlands across the street - so beautiful.
New owners took over in June of 2022. So perhaps they are still getting things sorted. The no room cleaning policy is not what I go on vacation for... the TV cable not working and spotty internet is an issue with the cable company that the inn owners need to pursue. That said its still way above many of the other B&Bs we have stayed on our many trips to Mendocino over the last 27 years. Upping my review from 3 to 4 stars as they did their utmost to make things right, which ended up making the stay very pleasant, indeed.
Lovely place, clean, comfortable, charming. The little touches are truly where they excel, from the personalized parking space, the hand written happy anniversary note, the fresh baked brownies waiting in the room to the complimentary wine and snacks every night at 5:30... Oh, and the hot breakfast delivered to your door at 9am sharp is a delicious treat as well! Highly recommend. We will be back.
Beautiful views, relaxing sounds, most enjoyable visit. Breakfasts were out of this world. Service was second to none. Dont miss the wine and cheese hour upon arrival, and be sure to have some tea and cookies during the afternoon. Cheri at night was a nice touch. Everything was gorgeous, and we felt, reasonably priced. We would recommend this B&B to anyone needing a romantic getaway.PS - LOVE Penny the little red hen.
Lovely location but accommodations were not up to expectations. When paying over $300 a night I expect the towels to be better not worse than mine at home; I expect the bed to not feel like I must either sleep on a mountain or in a valley; the water glasses were plastic; the bathroom fan sounded like a plane was taking off; and the note to just light the fireplace...was a lie...tried it twice ...first time just the paper burned..notified front desk the second time the fire stater burned...wood never caught fire....and one must eat breakfast on their time table not yours....9 a.m is the only option....pretty grounds but not up to Select Registry standards.
The service was friendly and extremely helpful. Kate at the front desk made great suggestions for dinner and then called and made our reservation. Our room had a fireplace and was very spacious. The bed was super comfortable. We spent most of the weekend hiking at the three nearby state parks so we didnt check out the spa services.
We had a nice time in Glendeven Inn. The place is beautiful with close proximity of beaches, redwood trees and mendocino downtown. The staff is very helpful and responsive, even in times of COVID they made sure everyone has pleasant stay while following all guidelines. From amazing breakfast to feeding Llamas and chickens everything about our stay was pleasant and I would definitely recommend this place to others.
Magical. Peaceful. Rejuvenating. Glendeven Inn & Lodge is such a picturesque location found amongst a majestic background and romantic atmosphere.Temperatures are cold air and warm sun, perfect for fireplace nights in your room and cozy covers in the comfortable bed. The window views are gorgeous only rivaled by the nearby hikes filled with bright flowers, towering redwoods, and breathtaking cliffs hovering over weathered beaches.Seeing the llamas prance in the backyard is a plus, as well as awakening to the outdoors engulfed in a cacauphony of colors from natural wildflowers during a season of full bloom. The help is attentive, covid safe, and the reception very friendly. They serve breakfast every morning much from their vegetable garden and eggs from their chicken coop. There are sights to visit should you choose to, from kayaking on the river, visting the quaint uet flavorful town of Mendocino, shop at Fort Bragg, visit the museum, go whale watching, eat at cliffside restaurants, and much more.Overall, this place is perfect for getaways with your loved one, retreats to recover, or work escapes for creative inspiration. Whether you are going for your anniversary, need to get in touch with nature, or write your next book, the setting is perfect if you need to getaway. If youre planning on visiting the northern parts of California, definitely stay at Glendeven.
We loved everything about Glendeven - the rooms are large and comfortable (but the bathrooms are quite cramped), watching the llamas and chickens is fun, and the hikes available from the property are very nice. Breakfasts are tasty and the farm-to-table dinner is outstanding. The service is very good as well.
Positives: Good breakfast (but heavy on the wheat and dairy), great walking trails and trail to the beach, llamas, chickens and bees. Great bed and sheets. Not so greats: We stayed in the Garden Room which was more like Freeway and Parking Lot Room. Very loud and at least once a night headlights shown right into the bedroom and the bed. Staff are not flexible or responsive to guests needs. We were greeted at the front desk not with Welcome to Mendocino or some other pleasantry, but You owe XX, when do you want to pay it? We had several interactions before and after our stay that were a lot of time and effort on our part and ultimately not satisfying. I would definitely not go again.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Glendeven for a weekend getaway to Mendocino and we had a wonderful stay! Their breakfasts are delicious and locally sourced, they have llamas and chickens you can feed, and they add a personalized touch to your stay! Would highly recommend.
Amazing lodge! Freindly staff, great property and fabulous rooms. The attention to detail can be seen everywhere, from the bed linen to the bath accessories to the chicken feed pouch. Our room had a great view and was so comfortable that we didnt want to head out and go to town one of the days. The Lodge is adults only and non-smoking. Dont forget to say hello to the hens!
Staying at Cobblers Walk was a breath taking experience. The Arts Loft, by far, is my favorite suite. It includes a reading nook, private balcony, spacious marble bathroom with a claw foot soaking tub, plus many more beautiful features. Luxury meets beauty, is how I describe every aspect of the Arts Loft experience. A freshly made breakfast is prepared and served promptly to your doorstep at 9am every morning. And a scenic beach walk is just minutes away right outside the inn. I doubt any other place could have offered the same experience or a comparative atmosphere that Cobblers Walk has applied for me. I will be returning!!
We enjoyed a two-day stay at Glendeven Inn and were impressed by its beautiful grounds and kind staff. Their service hours are a little limited (9am-noon and 3-7pm), but the staff were very friendly and helpful when there. We stayed in the Barn, which was comfortable and roomy. Breakfast (which cost extra) was very tasty.
Wow this place was amazing. The Bayview room is where my wife and I stayed. Bill and Hillary Clinton once stayed here. I can see why. The view of the ocean is stunning. You also get a massive out door balcony that is great for eating breakfast on, watching the Llamas or just watching the waves crash. Cant wait to come back.
One of my most favorite places to stay in Northern California. The grounds are great, the rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast is tasty (while eating in bed reading the newspaper). They go above and beyond to make your stay the absolute best. Not to mention the trails take you to fabulous views.
Great location, amazing breakfast! Fire in a fireplace and time on the lawn. Restful and lovely. Will definitely be back.
Carry your white noise machine!Second time in Mendocino and didnt come to Glendeven with super high expectations and booked for a weekend based on previous reviews. The rooms here have ZERO soundproofing, you will hear the folks above your room talk, walk and snore! And also hear whenever they shut a door (room/ bath). The place does have some charm but our stay was sub-par with the complete lack of soundproofing.Views are nice, breakfast is okay (though no options are provided). For the price, I would have expected better. Will look for other options next time around!
Wife and I stayed here for our 10th anniversary after being here a decade ago for our honeymoon. Always love Glendeven, truly fantastic staff, extremely accommodating. Will recommend to everyone!
Our stay was wonderful, from the wine hour with an hors doeuvre to the scrumptious breakfast and exploration of the grounds in the morning. I only wish we couldve stayed longer. We stayed in the garden room. My only complaint is that the water pressure in the shower was a bit lacking, but I guess that what to expect in a building as old as the farmhouse. Definitely not enough of a complaint to dock a star. Well try to return when we are in the area again.
We love Glendeven. Weve probably been there ten times over the past 15 years, and we expect well be there 10 times more over the next 15 years. Its the most peaceful place to stay -- I always think of William Butler Yeatss Lake Isle of Innisfree -- And I shall have some peace there, for peace come dropping slow. It feels like youre in the cradle of luxury. The breakfasts are delicious; dinner at Bistro 150 is amazing, especially with the perfect wine pairings. The nightly happy hour is lovely. The beds are comfortable, with some of the softest linens Ive felt, and after an evening in front of the glorious wood-burning fireplace, the stars through the skylights twinkle you to sleep. Just a perfect place to unwind.
MOST EXCELLENTMy wife and I stayed at Glendeven Inn over our anniversary. From the very beginning, it was obvious we had found a jewel. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. Our room was spacious and well appointed. It was a suite with comfortable reclining chairs in front of a fireplace. We had a small porch to sit on overlooking a small herd of llamas that the owner has and the ocean in the distance.Breakfast is delivered each morning to our room as well as the San Francisco newspaper. The Inn is close to Mendocino and is a short walk to the Pacific Ocean. Some days they have a “Farm to Table” dinner that you can sign up for.I am trying to find something that I do not like about our stay to make this review more believable, but I can not find anything to fault with the Inn.
To put it simply, I love this B&B. Amazing service, beautiful spacious rooms and a great onsite wine happy hour. Oh... and theres llamas!Needless to say, you will love this place. It is just 2 miles from downtown Mendocino and you have a view of the ocean from your room.I will come back if I am ever in the area again.
Quick overnight stay. Room was very clean. Complimentary tea and coffee available. Access to use refrigerator in common area which is very helpful. Several walking trails on the beautiful property...wish we could have stayed longer!
Remodeled with a great location. We enjoyed our stay very much, feeding the chicken (they give you the feed and encourage you do so), walking the path to the bluffs and watching folks snorkeling and the waves, tasting wine across the street at the main office. The breakfast is very delicious, not too big.Highly recommend this BnB.
Best intimate guest house experience ever! My partner and I revisited this idyllic spot five years after our honeymoon to celebrate our anniversary and my big oh birthday and couldnt have been more delighted. John and Mike treated us like royalty, our fellow guests proved to be exuberant and lively, and we all enjoyed our special dinner in their on-site restaurant Bistro 150 featuring local chefs and offerings. Couldnt possibly have asked for a more special mini-vacation. Of special note are their breakfasts served in our room w/ eggs gathered from their in-house chickens and encounters w/ friendly (but slightly aloof) lamas that share the space. All in all - a better holiday couldnt have been imagined!
Fantastic location, great morning breakfast served in your room. Internet was not the best and I didn’t have any cell coverage so that gets them bonus points. Birds, Llamas, chickens, and a beehive all make this a very special place to visit.
This inn has an idyllic setting, a kind and responsive staff, and the most comfortable rooms I could have imagined. All staff recommendations were outstanding from exemplary dining to exciting kayaking to gorgeous hikes. I was there for a birthday celebration with friends and every special request I made was thoughtfully executed. I highly recommend this inn.
Loved the place and the hospitality. My only complaint is on their website the photos shown are misleading. The photo of the bnb on the website is only part of the property. They have shown the picture of the building which is the most visually appealing. However, they also have other buildings which do not look very great from the outside. They are the non painted wooden buildings. Although the inside is still beautiful and so is the view. Otherwise there is no other complaint.
We decided to stop here at the Wine Bar[n] as it was recommended to us as one of the only Mendocino wine bats. It was listed on a couple of the countrys wine maps so it seemed like a good idea. The website even states From 3-7 daily, Glendeven Inn Mendocino offers its guests & visitors the north coasts only Mendocino county-only wine barn for wine bottle and by the glass purchases. To us who were not staying here I would assume we would fall under the visitor category. We arrive here around 3:30pm and liked the in and barn immediately, having the chickens next to the barn is a pleasant addition. However, despite the Wine Bar[n] also clearly stating on the door 3-7 daily, the hostess said she would be pouring for guests of the hotel only and starting at 5 pm. We countered with the time on the door and that the wine maps and website said they allowed visitors as well and she simply told us no. So not a very warm reception, we had been looking forward to relaxing at the barn and having a few glasses and probably buying a few bottles. Due to the completely wrong advertised information both on their own website and door and on multiple local wine maps, I have to say this place is very dishonest.
Beautiful property. We were shown to our large room by the front desk, who walked us through everything, showed us where the spas were located, and offered us dinner advice. I docked a star for the lack of air conditioning and screens in the window. I dont want to have to choose between bugs in the room and being too hot to sleep.
A warm, attractive conducive Inn.You are greeted with poured wine of your choice, baked goods and breakfast brought to your room. The environment is warm and very hospitable.I might add very reasonable for all the services you receive - I was very impressed.
Great service, super friendly staff, nice personal touches (parking spots with names, little note and treat as a welcome), soft comfy beds, quiet at night, fluffy robes, hors doeuvres and wine in the evening, and a communal area with a computer, printer, phone, coffee, tea, cookies, and board games! The inn is only a 4 minute drive from Mendocino, and is well lit at night so it is hard to miss when driving back. Be aware that there is no phone service, but there is great WiFi on the premises.
Mendocino Inn and Spa delivered on one aspect of its name, insomuch as it was in Mendocino. There was no spa and the hot tubs were closed/filthy. As for the inn part, there is no bar, restaurant, shop or way of getting any food or drink... Except the continental breakfast - a tray of doughnuts and a coffee pot that you can help yourself to and take back to your room from 8-10 am. As room service didnt turn up at all, we took our used mugs to the service area ourselves. A first, to be fair. You can walk along the highway to another inn for food. Or you could just stay in the other hotel.Mendocino is lovely though!
Love this place ...lovely setting... the llamas are so cute...one of the most comfortable bed. service is great. rooms are very clean... breakfast is delicous and delivered to our room by 9am.
The Bayview room was sensational. Amazing place.
Stayed over recently after a long day trip. Called that evening and booked a room. Was given a room with a garden view called River Rock.First impressions after entering the room - simple and fine for a quick overnight stay.Soon after entering the shower I noticed the hot water temperature fluctuated quite a bit. It went really cold then hot, back and forth several times. Really annoying. Also this room has a really small shower. Next up no TV in this room. Fine looked around for reading materials, none found. There is also no refrigerator in the room. I found out next morning that there is a shared fridge in the main house.Speaking of next morning. This is where the real fun begins. Few steps away is a shared hallway where they have coffee/tea prior to 9AM breakfast which is served in your room. I left the room to get a cup of coffee to come back and find out that the room key wouldnt work. This was NOT an electronic key instead a traditional metal key. How in the world would the key not work! At first I thought I might be using the wrong key well, that wasnt case as the key given is put on a big key ring. Next I walked around to see if I could flag anyone at the facility not a single person in-sight. I found a posting in the hallway to call a number in case of emergencies. Called them at 730AM goes to some sort of answering service who takes down your number and pages someone at the facility. 8AM no one shows up or calls, I call back once more. 830AM no one calls or shows up, I call again for the third time at 845PM, still no response. What is the point of having this number and service if no one every responds? At 9AM I got a hold of one of the guys who was delivering breakfast baskets to rooms. He also tried the same key to find out that it didnt work. What a surprise. He tried his master key and same results. At this point I was ready to get out of here, I just wished I had my belongings. Luckily the maintenance guy was able to sneek thru one of the windows which was left unlocked!WOW never againOn my way out I called the hotel and requested to speak to the General manager. I was told that he (the owner) was not currently available and that he would call me back within 24-hours. That has not happened as of this posting. My advice find a different place to stay, this town is packed with B&Bs
Would have loved to give this place a great review and try to come here without our little one in the near future, however, this trip were planning to take our baby and I mistakenly booked a stay here. Once I arrived on the confirmation page, I saw the NO CHILD note. I immediately called them, spoke briefly to a very curt lady and she said no problem shell cancel because I just booked literally 1 minutes ago. Later on that day I received an email from them confirming the cancellation and refund, minus a $50 fee charge because they had to process my reservation. Its literally a button they had to push. Im not a fan of establishment that tries to nickel and dime potential customers, on top of that, a very shady practice.Edit- I went back to double check if I missed anything during the checkout process, and it was my fault for not seeing the “adults only” at the bottom of the final booking page. I don’t see anything at the top, so just a forewarning for folks who wants to book here. Also- not sure about the “front and back end” work, the lady that I spoke to on the phone literally said that it’s just a button that she needs to check to cancel 🤷♀️ but I’ll change my review to 3 stars considering the owners response.
Nothing like description host is rude no one there to welcome you. Small property cannot walk to national Forrest. Do not recommend, rude on the phone. They send you all the rules like no children allowed, no one there until 3p.m.after you pay and book non refundable, scan stay away.
Wonderful stay at the inn. Loved seeing lamas, many bird varieties at the feeder, feeding the chickens and wondering coastline for four restful days.
This was such a wonderful place to experience! Where do I start? The food? The food! The amenities are so pampering. A beach a short walk away, your own secluded little cabin. In short. I loved it!
Wonderful place to unwind and to charge back up
Amazing Inn! Would highly recommend. Great location near Mendocino and easy access to hikes from the property. The llamas and chickens add a lot of charm to this property.
I love everything about this place: excellent luxury linens, thoughtful food offerings and high quality breakfast, free cookies, and extremely cozy interiors. If you are looking for a cozy retreat, check them out!
We found this place about 10 years ago. And have been coming back about 7 times. We even decided to get married here in Mendocino. So stay away and let us keep enjoying this beautiful place.
A Beautiful Restful local on the coast near Little River, Mendocino and Fort Bragg. It was wonderful for our first vacation since before Covid.
This is our second time here and we look forward to coming back many more times. The staff are incredibly friendly and professional, the llamas are fuzzy, the rooms are clean and the breakfast is delicious!
Absolutely lovely. Beautiful senery, wonderful breakfast, cozy room and great service. Best getaway ever!
Cozy and delightful place to stay! Fresh warm breakfast delivered to your door at 9am. Warning: no TVs.
One of the best hotel/inn stays Ive ever had. The beauty and serenity of the place is unmatched.
Gorgeous property, amazing breakfast delivered to our room, cute chickens to feed, fireplace and soft sheets, and thats just our first day here.
Nice B&B. We are thinking of stayng in Mendocino next time though. Beautiful views and relaxing atmosphere here but you are not in walking distance to and restaurants or bars.
Nicki and Sequoya were lovely, the room was pretty cozy. I’d recommend it!
Great place, I liked it, if you want a TV might be worth asking. I had one but done friends did not have tvs
My favorite place in Mendocino. Great wine store on the premises. Beautiful highly appointed rooms. And llamas!
Couldnt be better!!! We were expecting a great place and we werent disappointed in the least! HIGHLY recommend! Everything was newly updated and sparkling clean.
Canceled on us 2 weeks before our Memorial Day stay. Just got an automated email, not even a phone call. I guess they shut down?
Beautiful place! Delightful food. Friendly and helpful staff. Walk straight on to Van Damme headlands and beach.
For the price we paid, I was hoping that they can accomodate requests for a vegetarian breakfast. As a concept, they are spot on but are severely over priced
A result adorable place. Gorgeous flowers, great service, chickens and Llamas. A recipe for success.
Always a sweet experience. Great, peaceful place to unwind. Breakfasts are excellent.
Absolutely beautiful. Farm is so cool - the Bayview room was so wonderful and the staff is absolutely amazing.
Absolutely beautiful bed and breakfast, we purchased the elopement package and they made it incredible
Wonderful people who are very kind. We brought our young child and they were very nice and accommodating.
One of the best bnb experiences we had. Book the Bayview suite for the best view.
Rustic, clean, friendly, quaint, great amenities, super soft bed, unbelievable view will definately go back!!
Lovely place, wonderful rooms, fantastic staff
The staff was very nice, its a small, tucked back off the road place with character and most importantly it was dog friendly.
Great place to stay.. great hiking nearby. Breakfast was amazing!!!
Very friendly and helpful staff, nice atmosphere, hot tubs, breakfast is simple but good, quiet place for chill out
Wish I could return soon. This was one of my most favorite B&Bs Ive ever stayed in!
Loved being so close to great hikes...location and accommodations were wonderful.
Beautiful inn with wonderful staff. The grounds are gorgeous, we had a wonderful stay.
Everything was a dream. The llamas were not the most sociable, but the chickens were lovely.
No tv no heater save for the fireplace
Perfect for the weekend. Clean, very comfortable, breakfast was excellent.
A fantastic place to relax and enjoy nature.

Perfect for a weekend getaway
Delightful staff!
Great place to stay
Great spot!
Wonderful visit
Great spot
Actually an excellent hotel in good proximity to Mendocino. We were guests at Rachels Cottage for 4 days. The room is basically great. Unfortunately there is no wardrobe. We find it completely incomprehensible that a hotel management thinks that you have fun living out of a suitcase for 4 days. There is also no room service.Shortage of staff or cost reduction?Part of the reason for a hotel is that the bed is made and someone cleans the bed. Otherwise I can also go to a holiday home or Airbnb...The breakfast didnt offer enough variety for our taste. Its ok that its taken in the room, but we would have liked to have had more options. For example bread, butter, jam, sausage. As a vegan, my wife was given the same porridge for 4 days...All in all, a great facility that could be a real highlight in Mendocino under a different marketing concept. So unfortunately quite disappointing.
Fantastic welcome. This B&B is simply fabulous. Super cozy atmosphere! Vast park around with many animals... including llamas! 5 minutes from Mendocino.
Nice and clean. Nice breakfast. Unfortunately noisy from the upper room.
I like it a lot, great service and the amount of attention is the best
