Omgosh....just ate here. Absolutely amazing service, atmosphere, and the food!! Some of the best seafood I have ever eaten. Absolutely loved it here! Cant believe Ive lived here this long and never tried them. Thank you for an amazing experience. We will be back.
The food at the restaurant was good thats not what Im one staring but the bar was ridiculous! The place was dead! Nobody there at all and I mean nobody! they were charging 25$ a person to go in! Wth they charging like they doing us a favor! Never again
Im having so much fun at this place 1st time here with my whole family !The person whos ` cleaning ` its been throwing away our beers and also the guy dump away 2 cherry 🍒 sour vodkas not good I told him not to remove any drinks from our table because everytime we go dance someone will come and trow it away when literally I have a huge trash can behind me ! I loose around 40 dlls on beers and drinks dumped away . Then why they have the trash bins for ???I need an answer to that because I will keep coming to this place. Bartenders are amazing 👏

The food was great but it came out at different times. The wait staff were very poor. No refills until we called them for refills. The staff never checked to meet the tables needs.Appetizers were good, but again, we had to summons the staff for assistance. There was no routine of checking on the people at the table. The restaurant was not busy, so there was no excuse for the lack of attention.
Staff is lazy and rude. The food was basic. Very high priced for a junky old restaurant.
We are regular customers at El Rey’s’. Service has always been for the most part good and food as well. The waitress that knew us from being regular customers took our drink order and as she was setting our beers down that’s when she told us what we normally order which is the fresh crawfish they no longer had, all they had were frozen. We let her know that we no longer wanted our orders of beer seeing that there was no fresh crawfish, she told us that we would have to pay for the beers, despite the fact that we hadn’t drank them. As a waitress who cares about their regular customers who always leave at the minimum a 20% tip she should have comped the beers out at least allowed us to walk out without paying for beers we didn’t even consume or at least let speak to a manager. Very disappointed in the quality of care for regular customers.
Very good catfish! We have been a couple times and have not found anything we do not like.
If you’ve had too much to drink, be sure to have a designated driver. Lockhart has great food and drinks! It’s worth the visit. El Rey will take care of you. Great food and service here. Stop here to enjoy yourselves.

The majority of the time I come here to play games of billiards. It does get busy and is always playing loud music. Nothing wrong with the loud music just bringing up in case some one does not like loud music. Bar has about every popular drink. Unfortunately they do not carry Blue Moons. On its busy days lot of people dance.
Absolutely best calamari I have ever had! Loved the shrimp cocktail and the crawfish etouffee! FANTASTIC Margarita!
Steak had zero flavor and Ive seen paper thicker than that. Shrimp were cold with no seasoning. Threw half my steak away. Best thing on the plate was the frozen fries with Tonys creole sprinkled on them. Gave them two stars for the atmosphere and would give zero for the plate I ordered.Management made it write so great customer service. Will try again and update.

Great friendly staff.Service is slow at best and non existent if they are busy. But its a small town and that is to be expected. They are seriously under staffed.Stay away from anything Cajun on the menu if you are from Louisiana or actually know what Cajun food should taste like. I equate this to a Mexican restaurant trying to do Cajun food.Tacos are great!Po boys are OK.Crawfish are flavorless and just dusted. You are supposed to soak them in spice guys... add dust for extra spicy! Just read the instructions on the crawfish boil container, they will be better if you do it!The oysters on the 1/2 shell are absolutely amazing! Cocktail sauce is OK but it would be better to offer patrons the ingredients to make their own. Ketchup, worcestershire, Tabasco, lemon juice, and horseradish for standard, and a small amount of mayo for the creole version.Why are you using crawfish boil on the steamed vegetables? Why would anyone want spicy steamed vegetables? Butter only guys if anything! They were horrible! I love spicy and extreme heat but not my steamed vegetables with a regular entree.Gumbo is not really gumbo and flavorless using a blonde roux?Maybe it came from a package? If you cant cook a roux at least buy it in a jar.Dirty rice is not good at all, just say no, not a speck of liver in it and extremely dry. Bleh... 3 times I had it every time the same ick.Fried seafood is OK.I am fearful of trying the jambalaya or ettouffe because of the poor execution of the gumbo and dirty rice.Theres a lot of room for improvement for the food for sure. The kitchen needs to look up some real cajun recipes for gumbo and dirty rice, or hire a real cajun chef!Drinks are OK but theres a serious lack of options for those not drinking beer, especially for the price. You can get Jameson or Jack for whiskey. Bourbon would be a nice option.Weve made 4 trips here and I am giving them 3 stars. We will keep coming for the oysters, but well probably stick to fish tacos. I havent been to the other side where billiards and live music are, so I cant rate them on that side.
Oysters on a half shell may have been from a bucket (not freshly shucked) because all of them were detached from the shell. I do not recommend anything off the “hot in the pot” menu because everything was flavorless and bland and the thinly sliced sausage were ridiculously thin almost like pepperoni.

Our first time here. The food was very good! Great Gumbo and fish. One person in my group had a burger and they loved it. Definitely will be going back!
Atmosphere friendly food was good drinks were cold. We went to have oysters on half shell they were out. so if you are craving oysters you might call make sure they have them. Gumbo and catfish was definitely tasty will for sure visit them again.
Most helpful critical review.My wife and I visited el Rey for an adult birthday party, 8 adults 3 children. Read the reviews and was really hoping for some great food. When we received our correct order of 2lbs of shrimp boil, we were first given crawfish, waiter had to be new, we were very disappointed. The shrimp had almost no flavor, no lemon, no spice, no salt. We asked for extra seasoning which was provided free of charge. Then we noticed the shrimp had a slight fishy flavor. We got through about one lb before we had enough. When our ticket came we were charged for extras we never received. Everyones ticket had to fixed multiple times. And about 30 min after we left, my wife and I developed stomach pains. We both agreed this was the worst seafood ever placed before us. If you are expecting lemony spicy and a tasty seafood boil you wont find it here.Please save yourself the headache and stomach ache and spend more to go somewhere else, anywhere else.
Another jewel but not a secret any longer, judging by the crowd the other night. A dedicated sea-food restaurant with a Cajun twist. Oysters on the shell were in high demand and they were great too.Its our go-to list.

I love, love this place. Grew up in Lockhart, but as an adult I met up with my brother Chalie had a couple of beers and the wings are DELICIOUS. The server and bartender, April is the best. Her attitude and customer service is amazing and she tended to everyone promptly. She could run the place herself. Will definitely be going back.
Tonight was our first time dining at El Rey and it was awesome! Ashley made sure we were well taken care of and the food was delicious! Definitely will be going back!
Pretty nice bar. Visited in May or June 2019 as part of my high school reunion. Held a luncheon in one of their meeting rooms. Was during the day and the bar wasnt open for business but the folks who run/manage it were there and were accommodating and helpful. Easy access and a large dance floor.
First of all crawfish at 12.99 a pound for mud bugs is insane! They dont know what craft beer even is, nor do they carry it! The bloody Mary so salty you have to have a giant water to even drink. Calamari out of a box! We each ordered a app as our entree, and they bring each one out separately, so you dont even get to eat with your family! So the entire experience wasnt there. A total waste of money. I didnt even eat. The lady who waitresses there, I know if she is a owner or not ,but extremely rude. Smart butt comments the whole time. Ungenuine Im so sorry mam!!!! So sorry sir!!!! We wouldnt stop here again if it was the last place to eat on earth!
Love this new place! Oysters are legit. Étouffée is fantastic. Im from cajun country and this is great Louisiana style seafood right in Lockhart. Had a delicious Marg and some oysters with Parmesan cheese and white wine sauce twice this week. Definitely check it out.
Reviews are legit. I came from South Austin for the crawfish and other food, and it was worth the trip because the food was that good. Been back twice since. Definitely recommend giving it a try.
Food was okay a lot of watered down sauce , a lot of water in the salad. Service was almost non-existent.

The rice tasted like bird food, crawfish had eggs and wasn’t washed, shrimp was dry, slow service and do not recommend getting anything cajun on there menu if you know what real cajun food taste like.

Best place to dance in Lockhart. Beer is always cold and they just started serving some delicious sea food. They also serve tacos late.
