The best club not only in Connecticut but in the world. Shrine has the best music, best atmosphere and best drinks. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. We celebrated our bachelor/bachelorette parties, our anniversary and birthday at Shrine. We will always come back!
Overall awful, the bouncer at the door was super rude. He told my group and I that if we come back at 1:30 we could get right back in and we came back at 1:28 and he wouldn’t let us in. Even though we paid a 50$ cover. The main performance, a boogie with a hoodie, didn’t show up until 1:40, close is at 2am.Waste of $50 and drink money.Bad overall club.
I would avoid this place. The show they were advertising (and we had to pay for) started 15 min before they closed. The DJ before the show only played 20 seconds of each song before switching, he also repeated the same playlist at least 3 or 4 times in the few hours we were there. The music choice was generally a let down, you could tell people werent into the songs. (Think the Jackson 5, followed by Timber by Kesha). Absolutely no current music. I think we got 15 seconds of a Doja Cat song and thats it. The throwbacks were not dancing songs. All in all, I had better DJs at my middle school dances.Drinks are overpriced (its at the casino, so expected that). Layout of the place is weird and there are zero places to sit if you dont pay for VIP. Actual dance floor was so crowded that no one could move. From other reviews, it seems like the dress code is enforced differently depending on who the bouncer is.Added one star because the bar staff was good.
We bought tickets for 50 cent and went into the Shrine at 9, as the start time was stated. We waited 3 hours and he never showed. For the amount of money spent on drinks, and a no show, we were very disappointed!
Jose, the VIP Manager, is just incredible. He truly made my little brother’s 21st birthday. His professionalism, kindness & sincerity is so rare to find- especially in the club scene. They’re lucky to have someone like him representing their company. I’ve been coming to Shrine for years & have always loved it, but after this? Shrine will forever be getting mine & my family’s business- & praise! Thank you again Jose, from the bottom of my heart.
Went there for our bachelor/ bachelorette party only to get kicked out for absolutely no reason. Management was high on a power trip.I was asked to move to a certain location by one of the ladies working and I was waiting for people to stop coming so I could squeeze by. Was then asked to leave for “disrespecting his staff” I’m the first person to admit if I’m in the wrong… the management and employees did not handle the situation properly whatsoever and was MANHANDLED by security and they RIPPED MY DRESS. Disgusting. They also let people in wearing sneakers and t shirts so don’t expect anything fancy!!Will not be going back, will not recommend and am super disappointed.
The nightclub itself is nice, good layout, good bar, good service…. but be prepared if you actually came to see a dj you will be waiting/ standing for 3 hours. Once your standing in the pit there’s no point to leave to loose your spot, so you can’t even reach the bar to get drinks or go to the bathroom. if you do good luck.vip is just a difference between behind a rope or not. If a guy invites you to vip just stay in ur spot it’s not worth it 😭 i give an over all 6/10, ive been to many concerts and have never had to wait that long for the artist to come out and i could actually drink at other places while i waited. Two tito’s soda was 40ish, that was expected though. The Bottle girls are super super pretty.
Absolutely trash. If you come to see an artist dont expect to see them at all. Such a bait and switch to get people in to buy drinks. Shame!!! Drinks suck too especially for the price.
NOVEMBER 2023 EDIT AT THE BOTTOM:First and foremost, I bought tickets on ticket master for a lil Jon concert. After I purchased the tickets I noticed in the confirmation email that the shrine had a dress code. I immediately emailed them to make sure this dress code was still in affect and also figure out what the heck we can actually wear since almost everything isn’t allowed. They told me the dress code was still in affect. No problem. We all bought outfits and let me tell you, They weren’t cheap considering it was all what we “Could” wear. We got to Foxwoods and noticed not a single person was “Dressed up” like we were. I’m in a dress and heels and it’s like -20 outside. It’s now 8:30, We found the shrine and asked the security man what time we could start waiting in line. He said 9:00. I said really? It starts at 9:00. He said nothing. We gambled for a bit, Me and my friend went to the bathroom and next thing we know there’s a massive line formed outside the shrine. Okay??? Lol. He said we couldn’t form a line until 9 but for these people it’s okay I guess. We get in line and notice NOBODY is in dress code. Nobody. People had hoodies on, a work boots, They all had on normal clothes. I’m aggravated because I wouldn’t have wore a dress in heels if I would have known the dress code wasn’t actually a thing. We get inside and a lady checks our tickets so I say to them “Do you guys not have a dress code anymore?” They say well we do but it’s very relaxed now. I said oh because I called and emailed about it and they told me it was very strict, They basically said it depends who you talk to. Okay. Great. So we spent a bunch of money on outfits when we could have just wore normal clothes. Great 😂 I went straight to the bar when we got in the club. Spent $85 on two vodka redbulls and three shots of crown royal. The club was packed. But the weird thing was… Where’s lil Jon?? The dj was playing Drake, Rihanna, The jackson five, I mean. The song choices were not what I expected. At all. I read online it was from 9-12. We were there the whole time but lil Jon was not. At about 11:50 some lady was trying to start a fight with my friend for dancing… In a club… with us. So instead of brawling at the club we left before things went sideways. Apparently right after we left Lil Jon came. I don’t even think he was there for an hour. Huge disappointment. I had a fun time but I think that’s because I was highly intoxicated lol. I don’t think I would come back to the shrine for another event.NOVEMBER 2023 EDIT: We came back to the Shrine to see Dillion Francis. We wanted to give it another try. This time we didn’t go as crazy following the “Dress code” but we did it cautiously. Once again, There really wasn’t a dress code lol. We still could have wore whatever we wanted. When we came in the shrine we noticed they had moved the gate for the “Club” area so it was even smaller than before. We just assumed maybe they weren’t expecting a big crowd. Grabbed a $20 Vodka redbull before the set started because I knew from last time I needed to be hammered for this place. Vodka redbull was actually super weak this time. I got to experience the shrine sober this time unfortunately and it was still terrible. People were belly to belly, breathing on each other, Kicking each other, Stomping on each other. It was something else. Once again it says the event starts at 9, So we got there at 9. Around 12:20 we’re starting to get really inpatient and annoyed. It was so crowded you couldn’t even move your body, We were standing by a rope near the VIP tables and they started letting a few people in over there around midnight. Everytime someone would come in they would be sandwiched between us, They couldn’t move, We couldn’t move. It was starting to get too much. And once again where is the performer ? The Dj this time was pretty good. The music was way better than last time. I just don’t think they have enough room to hold these type of events. I understand it’s a “club” but it’s not even safe. We left at about 12:30. No Dillion.
Went to see 50 cent. Cool. He didn’t come out till 1am. We bought tickets to see him. Started at 9 ended at closing time 2am. He played maybe 7 songs didn’t finish any of them. Came out at 1 am.Over crowded, no idea HOW they managed to fit that many people in there legally. If by chance there was a fire, GOOD LUCK getting out.Smoking -cigarettes, vapes, weedWorn- Hats, chains, sneakers, tank tops. What’s the point of only being strict to SOME guests not all? If there is no smoking weed, cigarettes or vapes WHY on earth was there? I get 50 cent concert (yup I do) BUT - if you’re SO strict on it then why WAS it happening?Over and I mean OVER priced drinks. If you’re not looking like you will do anything for free drinks, or to get into VIP and not a female, the body guards can give two sh!ts about you.Atmosphere was boring as hell. First DJ playing was NOT good AT ALL. SECOND DJ was not bad at all- & at least he spoke on the mic to get people excited. If you’re not young, and when I say young I mean under 25- it’s not the place for you for a “concert”Had I known for one second it would be like this I would have NEVER wasted my money.
Went here for 50 Cent. Stood there waiting on the main floor for almost 4 hours listening to some mid-level DJ (playing what felt felt like the same song on repeat) until 50 eventually decided to walk down stairs at 12:45. Even when he did perform the mix was terrible (could barely hear him even with his vocal backtrack). We ended up walking out after about 20 minutes of him being on stage just from sheer disappointment and being uncomfortable from standing in the same spot for over 4 hours. We could barely get out too, there were so many people packed in here that getting out was almost impossible. This was our first time here so we obeyed the dress code, but, Im pretty sure you could have worn pajamas and been let in, total joke. Oh, and two watered down drinks costs $33.Small positive, the security staff posted near us were nice. This was my first night club experience in 15 years and I can safely say it will be my last one.
I wish I could give this place negative 100 stars. My friends and I were targeted by a bartender (not sure of her name but she has long dark hair). A guy bumped into my friends drink, which spilled, and my friends and I got kicked out because this bartender accused my friend of spitting on her. The guy who spilled her drink ended up apologizing because he knew that it was his fault. There was absolutely no spitting. We explained the situation and after dealing with very rude management, were allowed back in. We were told to just stay away from this bartender, as if she was the victim in this situation, after she treated us horribly. We stayed far away from her because we wanted nothing to do with someone so cruel and such awful customer service. We bought drinks for another $40 or so from a different bartender who was very nice and were then escorted out again by management and given no explanation at all. The bartender from before (girl with dark hair) had seen us get back in and targeted us and made up a lie to the manager that we were too intoxicated when in fact, we were not. We paid over $300 (for tickets to see 50 cent, who we didnt get to see due to being targeted by this bartender), and drinks. We expect our money back in full and will be contacting whomever we need to until we are fully compensated. We have never experienced such poor treatment and will never be returning. We will also be spreading the word about this place.
The worst experience ever. Went to see 50 cent. We waited 3 and a half hours. And he never came out on stage I paid 70 a ticket plus fees awful experience
Me and my boyfriend went to see Sickick and it was advertised as a “concert” not a night club. We paid $50 a ticket for a sickick concert that said it started at 9pm only to arrive to a strict dress code. They made my boyfriend take off his hat and almost didn’t let him in because he had white sweats on. Once again we thought we were going to an EDM type concert. We waiting until 12:50am and no sickick. It was packed to the point you could barely dance or breathe so we went outside for a smoke break and decided not to go in. What we thought would be a great night turned into a disappointment. I later read reviews that said he sometimes comes on at 1am had I known that I wouldn’t waited and I still don’t know if he ever showed. I would like to try and see him again since I love his music so much I’m going to his concert in NYc at nebula in March so hopefully that will be a better experience
Bathroom was dirty smelled not clean at all. No bathroom lady like before. The effects were dull not the usual effect I remember. Sneakers allowed in club now, not classy at all. Dj was good and bartenders were good all I can say was good. Haven’t been Shrine long time not what I remember. Used be classy and elegant upscale, not what I expected that day . I think if things went back to how they used to be it can be great again. Can’t say how food was never ate there to say.
Nights here never disappoint. It’s in the perfect location and the atmosphere is always so fun. I can’t wait to come back soon 👏🏼
I WISH you could give zero stars this place for 1 is a safety hazard ! The amount of people you allow in the club is a huge concern. I was pushed with a crowd fight behind me and hit my head on the guard rail with a gash on my forehead. Bouncer asks what happen then runs away to deal with another fight. Trying to turn around to get out was almost impossible. When talking to the security when I was able to get out they were more concerned who let my husband in with shorts. They advertise the “show” starts at 9 but we are standing there piled in like sardines at 1am still waiting for 50 cent. I will NEVER go back here. Money is the main priority even if it compromises your safety.
While it has a lot of potential, they are so busy doing odd activities for the people purchasing expensive tables (including making staff carry LED signs with with cringe worthy statements), they leave little space for the other patrons to dance and enjoy. The bathrooms were gross. There were some tables people purchased that had people standing in front of them so they couldnt even see the stage which seems like a waste of money. The night was fun, but definitely not my favorite space to party.
Was pretty bummed this was my first time at shrine, went to see Pauly d. They tell you to come at 9, crowd got hyped up seven different times thinking he was coming out to be let down, we left after midnight and never got to see him because he didn’t come out till an hour before closing. Waste of money on a ticket while everyone was so packed in together you couldn’t move, people shoving you if you try to dance at all. If you try to get out of the overwhelming mass of people touching you the bouncers tell you to move back in to the crowd or get out. No re-entry. Over $17 for one drink. Very lame I would give zero stars if I could.
Skip it and go to Avalon at Mohegan. Overcrowded, staff won’t let you stand where it’s not crowded because then you’re blocking the door. Everyone is shuffled into the main floor and you can’t move or see and are being pushed. Dj played the same old music local djs do.. Avalon at Mohegan is way better. Multiple platforms to stand on, you don’t have to be on the super squashed dance floor. Also shrine charges $17 a drink then at some random point they start charging $20 a drink. Insane. Will not go here again.
Do not attend any concerts or music performances put on by this venue if you value having space and being able to breath. They never stop selling tickets and pack you in so tightly that it feels like the sheer weight of the people pressing into you can crush you. I wanted to cry and the experience ruined my night. I had to leave before the performer I paid over $100 to see came out. If you want room to dance or move your arms from the side of your body youre paying upwards of $500. This place is gross and greedy - save your money for a real music venue or a festival.Edited to add: Im noticing a lot of other reviewers mention this so I want to include: said the performance started at 9 and by 10:30 two separate, very mid DJs had performed but not the person we came to see. We left without actually getting to enjoy music by the person we came for.
I went to Shrine last night with my daughter and her friend to see 50 Cent. We paid $150 to get in and never got to see 50 Cent. After being at the club for over an hour, we went to get another drink and someone bumped into my daughters friend, causing her drink to spill. Next thing we know, we were being escorted out of the club by security because the bartender said my daughters friend spit at her, which is an absolute lie! Maybe when her drink spilled, a few drops hit her and she thought it was spit?? I have no idea. I dont know the bartenders name, but she has medium length dark hair and her server # is 1500. She was at Bar 1. Then, after talking to management, we were allowed back in, but told to stay away from that bartender. We went back in, went the furthest away possible, to the corner near the dance floor to get a drink from another bartender, who was very nice. While we waited for our drinks, the person who bumped into my daughters friend earlier came up to her and apologized for bumping into her and getting us in trouble. Then, within a minute of receiving our drinks, we were being escorted out again with no explanation. We ended up talking to management who said that a bartender told him my daughters friend was intoxicated, which by the way, she was drinking water at that point in the night. Apparently they can kick you out if they think youre intoxicated. That same bartender from earlier # 1500 targeted my daughters friend and had us kicked out a second time! She was probably angry that we were allowed back in and she must have seen us at the end of the bar. Overall, I paid about $350 between the cost of tickets and drinks, we never saw 50 Cent, and my last drink, as well as my daughters, which were both full, were taken out of our hands as we were being kicked out the second time. We are both teachers, it was her friends first time at Shrine and at Foxwoods, and this experience made us all so upset. My daughters friend was crying over the fact that someone would even think she would spit at them, and I even cried because of how offensive the whole situation was. I will be contacting whoever I need to in order to get my money back and to get an apology. I hope this type of experience does not happen to anyone else. It was awful. We will NEVER return to Shrine.
Place is mid. If you want to spend $16 on a mixed drink then come here. Music is played by a middle school class DJ and you can’t hear anything. If you want the “true casino” club experience then come here. Otherwise, you’d have move fun drinking in one of the overpriced hotel rooms.
Booked a VIP table 2 months in advance for a bachelorette night, club advertised DJ Pauly D was gonna be there. Pauly D didnt come on stage till 1:30 a.m, and last call is at 1:45 am/ club closes at 2 am. Our table server wasnt friendly at all, bottle service is mandatory $500 plus paying for the table which they charge $700. Server Gave us Titos Vodka when I requested Effen Black Cherry two months in advance when booking directly with the clubs concierge.Titos bottle came to the table with no seal, drinks didn’t taste like Tito’s and were made super strong which resulted in people getting unusually drunk and unable to stand up. Bouncers were very aggressive about it, pulled our friend into an interrogation room to ask if shes on drugs when she wasnt. Wouldnt let her leave. A Bartender was claiming multiple peoples credit cards were maxed out, when cards werent. This place just isnt what it used to be but then again that was 10 years ago, I believe its under new management
Purchased VIP for a bachelor party and the entire experience was excellent from start to finish. I’m in the military so I had to do all the planning from out of state and Anthony served as my liaison helping me with planning the entire thing. He kept in constant contact with me up until the night of the even and even met me at the door as we were walking in. He cheated on us periodically throughout the night to make sure we were having a great time and being taken care of. If and when I return to shrine I will seeking out Anthony because of his dedication to the customers and professionalism.
Be very careful at this place. I came here to see Sickick and through the course of the night got 8 drinks for myself and my girlfriend and two waters (all were absolutely terrible btw, not to mention overpriced at $16 each). My bill was $132, I left a 20% tip as I usually do for all service industries (unless the service is phenomenal then I usually bump up to about 30%). This should’ve brought my bill up to $158. My card was charged $210 the next day which means they ALTERED MY TIP to 60% and helped themselves to an almost $80 tip on a $132 bill. Best believe if I ever go to a concert here again, JUST FOR THE ARTIST I will never give them my money for anything else again.
They say they’re strict on dress code no jeans, flats, sandals so I went out of my way to get a dress and heels when I can not for the life of me stand heels. To watch people get in wearing ripped jeans and flip flops&sneakers. After being in heels for hours I had to take them off. Well I got kicked out for taking my heels off. Change your dress code so this doesn’t happen to others. If you’re gonna say you’re strict then be exactly that.
Club good mens bathrooms horrendous! Had 3 VIP tables first time upstairs this past weekend and such a mess! Spent a lot of money and will be last time actually from a lot of people unless they address the mens bathrooms is sickening!NO PRIVACY when you open doors you can see men at unirals females standing and hanging around door looking in watching men peeing at unirals! Never ever seen a bathroom when you open a door and all you see is a dozen men lined up like animals with no dividers for PRIVACY from people seeing in when doors are open! Witness a female fight because wife of man was upset females were hanging by door looking in straight line of view with phones as men are peeing! Theyre hanging right at sink areas pretending at sinks when actually watching in bathroom! Witness this with 50+freinds men and women and wife at tables couldnt believe it!Really should put dividers up specially in upstairs bathroom for males PRIVACY! They make a lot of money at these events it doesnt cost anything to put dividers up protecting the men and their privacy when at urinals!Female bathrooms are well private males should be too. Men were complaining too! No reason not to have dividers up protecting exposure of males when doors open! It was sickening this past weekend with the bathroom situations and the females hanging and videoing inside the bathroom causing a fight between a wife and a bunch of females. They really need to resolve this problem because its a liability!! Fix mens bathroom situations ASAP!!Thats the biggest complaint from all VIP and patrons! Again doesnt cost anything to put dividers up like normal bathrooms not all men are ok without having no PRIVACY!!
Stay clear of this establishment. Bottle service is filled with cheaper alcohol (they don’t take the seals off at the table, the crack of the bottle was already loose and I broke out into hives as I normally would with bottom shelf liquor. I ordered Tito’s as I normally would and left with an allergic reaction). The staff are scammer they will alter your credit card charges and write in their own tips. Overall horrible experience with Shrine and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
We Celebrated a private event upstairs earlyThen moved down to club area. I had heard The venue and entertainment is best in the area/state.. it’s true!!The staff are amazing and accommodating. The Food was perfect, My drinks were generous.I Highly recommend Shrine/Red Lantern.5 star
I had the absolute worst experience here bar staff is completely disgusting and rude to customers that is spending money had 2 altercations with bar staff being rude and nasty reported to the fat supervisor on night shift the night 50 was here for his final lap tour this fool of a manger tells me that he can’t talk to his staff avoid the first rude bartender went to the next as he advised instead of defusing he allowed staff to be nasty and rude it gave very racist and weird manager was very dismissive and blamed us customers as the issue! Made me not be able to see 50 cent along with not being a support staff after me bringing the problem to him to solve will be going above everyone head
Club was over packed, over serving people and the person we paid to see for a dj didnt come out until after 12 sometime (we left and didnt see him) because we were told he came out at 9pm..not a happy customer, but the one thing I would say is the staff was super nice and the bartender was quick! Couldve been such a better experience. Music was ok.
Extremely impressed with Shrine! Eric and his team are outstanding and I am shocked to see some bad reviews. We were there for my daughter’s 21st birthday. The VIP experience was amazing. I sat at the table for the night and was able to view the team in action. They were on top of everything! Growing up in the hospitality business I was blown away by how professional they were. Thank you for giving my daughter and her friends a night to remember. They loved it so much they are skipping Mohegan Sun tonight to go back to Shrine!
I wouldn’t recommend this place, me and a group of 10-12 were there for the Pauly D show. Show was great guy was an awesome DJ. What put a bad taste in my mouth was when I noticed a VIP table next to us had left, then two bottle girls and a guy that worked there started drinking all the left overs. Absolutely disgusting goes to show how the place is run. Needs a more mature staff they’re all getting hammered all night
Was there for Matoma. Says 9pm show, he came on at midnight. Great show! Rip off of a place. $32 for two vodka tonics that were 8oz, weak pour and with a moldy rotting lime. Will not go back. And oh the staff and food in the restaurant upstairs is even worse. Bartenders flirting with staff and management doing the same thing with no care for patrons.
This place is mediocre so I was in there last night expecting to have a chill time and there was probably 15 people in there so it was pretty dead so anyway I’m in there killing it on the dance floor and then I just take a seat in the VIP section and some guy says you can’t sit there and I very politely said not a problem and got up so I just stand off to the side then 10 minutes later security comes over to me and says “oh your blocking the walk way so you gotta leave” which really caught me off guard because nobody was passing through and I wasn’t causing a disturbance I’ve never been kicked out of anywhere and getting the boot for just standing just blows my mind anyway highly recommend you don’t spend your money here your better off going to a dive bar
Was at Foxwoods for the CDI experience. Myself and my staff member who attended the event with me walked up to the doorman with a coffee and he would not allow us to enter due to we were too intoxicated . I own a bar, so I understand the risk, but we were far from intoxicated, older and dressed somewhat conservative. By his assumptions, we had to cancel 10 other guests, a VIP booth, and wasted our time and $$ due to room purchase due to his assumption. Their loss on funds, and none of our guests plan on returning for such an event as a result . It is a shame because we are older and dont fit their young clientele . He said his name was Mike, guessing fake name seeing nobody responded to us after. 30ish old male, short hair and full beard.Others were allowed to enter when VISIBLY intoxicated.
Paid $33 plus tip for 2 watered down drinks. Looked at bank statement & was charged $20 more than what I authorized. Scam artists for sure. Place was uncomfortably & unsafely packed. Drunk people getting kicked out left & right. Definitely not what it used to be.
Wicked cool venue...loved the aesthetic and the DJ (Kaskade!) absolutely killed it. Super friendly and attentive staff. Only thing Id change is adding more room on the dance floor - a huge portion of the area was roped off for VIP booths and it would have been nice to have more space for the crowd. Otherwise...awesome night, had a blast!!
Paid 560 for 8 tickets and traveled 1 hour to get to the venue and the event was canceled. They wont inform you about the event cancellation in advance. We dont want to go back so we went into the club (free cover due to event cancellation). Small dance floor which can only occupy less than 50 people. Drinks were too expensive spent like 400. My friend got kicked out for tying his shoelace in the middle of the dance floor (bouncer thought that my friend was tripping).
Shrine is a fun club but BEWARE if you are ordering drinks. My friends and I all ordered similar drinks (nothing fancy) and we all got WAY overcharged AND charged different amounts. I ordered two drinks and was charged 33 dollars. Another friend ordered two drinks and was charged 44 dollars. Another ordered four drinks and was charged 80 dollars!!! Aren’t they supposed to have standard prices for drinks? Seems like theft to me if they are just charging whatever the please. Don’t get drinks here or at least ask first how much.
Tonight, there was a young, tall, brunette man with double hoop gold earrings that was a bouncer at shrine. We were denied right at the door by this man even though we had bought tickets to see Sam Feldt. My friend and I, as young Asian woman felt very discriminated against and like there was a racial bias because there was an old white man behind us who was let in immediately. Eventually after much pleading, his manager allowed us to enter. As we were leaving, the young man said that he didnt want to let us in and we again felt disturbed by his words and presence. This was an unnecessary comment that ruined our night. As paying customers who bought tickets to an event held at Shrine, we were never treated like this. This past summer, we have seen Steve aoki, Dillon Francis, and Two Friends. I am disappointed in the staffing and if I ever see this man again I will feel so uncomfortable and avoid him.Thank you to the manager who was kind enough to let us in and made us feel welcomed after that encounter. We were simply excited to see our favorite DJ Sam Feldt after driving an hour after work. Please make ALL of your guest feel welcome at Shrine. We were shocked when we entered and the dance was more empty than we had ever seen all summer. This was an extra slap in the face because there was no capacity issue. It was solely because this bouncer did not want us to enter. It felt like a personal attack.
I’ve been coming here every year for my Bday for about 9 years now. I love the music, dancers and the bartenders. This place has the potential to be so much better if it weren’t for the extremely arrogant and cocky bouncers that work at this place. Every year they make it a point to throw people out for no reason at all. This past weekend one bouncer had the nerve to question my friend and asked if she had been drinking, as if it weren’t allowed and as if the rest of the freaking club and casino weren’t half drunk as it was. They threw me out for no reason as well, it’s like they just pick and choose who they want to throw out and then pick a fight with you when you ask why. It’s honestly sad and the owners should be ashamed of themselves for letting such a classy establishment be over run by these deplorable human beings. You should treat your paying customers with respect and not as if they are human garbage. Shame on Shrine owners. SHAME!PS Maybe try being a little less greedy by stopping letting people in past the maximum capacity. It would be nice to be able to have room to walk around easier.
It was okay... it was a little on the over crowded side not enough room to walk to the bar or even dance with out stepping on someone else. The upstairs was closed for some reason so it just made it even more crowded. The bar was good. The drinks were well made. The bar tenders were extremely friendly. The only down side was the price of drinks. The security was sort of rude to people I did not have any problem with them, but I watched them kick people out for no reason which is unfair. If it has to do with overcrowding then they might wanna look into a new plan of how many people are allowed in the club. All in all it was an okay visit the only major thing that bothered me was the over crowding.
Always the best times when I go to shrine. The bottle waitresses are absolutely awesome. Security tended to all my needs, and the managers are very friendly. Tuesday’s are so much fun with the high caliber talent acts. Highly recommend
Before the pandemic I always had a nice time at this venue, crowded and small yes, but a classy affair. My first time coming back after the pandemic and they were letting people in with t-shirts, jeans and sneakers! Not just men but women too, I was surprised as I thought I remembered them having a fairly strict dress code and no jeans or sneakers being a policy but it doesn’t seem to be enforced. On a weeknight it’s one thing but on Saturday night to see men in t-shirts and jeans with sneakers? Next time I’ll just go to Mohegan Sun.
Awful venue. Security staff and management are extremely rude and unpleasant. One big ripoff. Never in my life have I been kicked out of a club, Im 30. If you dance here or have fun security takes you outside and gives you a sobriety test in the middle of the casino gaming floor. Extremely rude and distasteful. VIP vodka bottle was 50% water. Lights were awful. Funktionone sound system on low. Waste of money. Drive another hour and a half and go to NYC
My first time was disappointed on 12/11. The DJ just wasnt cutting it. Techno that 1 song made you dance and the next 5 were just chill. If the entire crowd aint dancing you need to change it. Dont follow a groupie. I could she wasnt into it either so it made since. Everyone has an off night I guess.
Always a fine time at Shrine! The best DJ’s, lights effects and drinks! The staff there is immaculate and the security is always on point! Great team, whenever I go there I’m treated with nothing but respect. I highly recommend this to establishment.
Went to a cheap bar in new haven and they had top shelf vodka. Kettle one to be exact. Spent 5 dollars to get in. 20 at this place and couldnt even order my drink of choice. Shame on this top night club. Music was decent, shout out to the DJ. Dancing area cramped. Staff relatively decent and helpful. Looks great.
February 22, 2020 - Terrible VIP manager. Good music, good girls hosting us (especially Chelsea, she was great) but the VIP manager was more worried about partying with her friends In the VIP area instead of taking care of customers who were spending and willing to spend. Our group walked out of the club!
Waited till after 1230 to see the performer we paid for. Said be there at 9. Dude never came out. Should said be there at 2am if thats when he performs. Listened to pandora while paying 15 bucks a shot. All set.
Since Covid-19, Shrine has overpacked the venue to make up for lost revenue. I was seeing Zedd on 5/30/21 and there was literally no room to move. I couldnt even get off the dance floor when I tried and was stuck for 45 minutes until some space finally cleared. The bouncers wouldnt let me walk through the VIP section to leave (understandable). I did not pay $90 a ticket to be packed in like ants. And not to mention that my girlfriend wasnt even allowed tap water without paying $5.
My experience here was better than I expected. After reading all the bad reviews I was nervous and not looking forward to it. But we were going there for a birthday and didnt have much of a choice. The line was really short for a Saturday night, we walked right in. The $20 cover charge was a drag but we fought our way to the bar and got drinks. Immediately some guy knocked my boyfriends drink out of his hand and things got heated. But after we left the area right in front of the DJ it was better. We went upstairs and sat down on the couches and drank and avoided the wild raucous crowd. The drinks weren’t overly priced and after about an hour we had had enough and left to go gamble a little more. This place is supposed to be Vegas level but honestly it feels a little fraternity to me. Too messy and the crowd is too immature.
Went there for the first time after hearing so much about it. Had no issues with the security or staff. The crowd is significantly older, the setup is not ideal, and the dj for that night was without a doubt in my top 3 for worst djs at a night club. All my friend kept telling me was that we should have gone to Aurora at Mohegan Sun. But the drinks here are very well made. But hey if you are paying 11 dollars for a rum and coke, they should be well made. I may come back in the future but its not on my list of places to go.
Shrine is an awesome venue! Great sound, layout, line up and lighting. The girls and bar staff are super sweet and always take care of me when I’m there.Shrine’s great because there’s a ton of room to get a good view of the DJ booth from both upstairs and downstairs. I’m really short so this is great for me! I can also get a table right up front on the dancefloor, or in the back where it’s much more intimate and I can go back and forth as I please. It’s so wild in there (Tuesdays are amazing) it’s hard to believe it’s all behind those doors in the casino. Definitely worth checking out!
Horrible experience! Fact im extremely low key, dont need extra attention my way, all i cared bout was my family and friends having fun. Didnt even mind picking up the bill for 13 people either. Waitress was great and all no problems there. The problem i had was my host who i guess was assigned to me most of night wanted to party it up with people she must have ran into in there. Which is great you see people you know hug it out some small talk and get back to work. Again i dont complain much unless its obvious and it needs to be addressed. So long story short she vanished for most of 4 hrs we were in there. Acouple of things were really bad im not about spill it all on here but yea definitely could have been much better. 2 stars still gave cause like the club interior and lit
Im highly disappointed in Shrine. Ive gone there multiple times before and have never encountered an issue like I did last night. We got into the club with no problem. My friend and I then had two shots each at the bar. Proceeded to dance and have a good time, just as everyone else was doing. Not even an hour into being there, we were pulled aside by security. Taken into a back room and hounded with questions. They wouldnt explain to us what we did wrong, or why we were there in the first place. Asked to speak to a manager, and she was unprofessional and beyond rude. We were asked to leave the club. Im assuming because we were too intoxicated? Id just like to know how they make that determination. And if I was too intoxicated, how did I manage to get into another bar 20 minutes later? Blows my mind. I will never return to this establishment. Ill take my money elsewhere. And I suggest you do the same.
Not for headliners! I’m sure it’s great as a nightclub but seeing Deadmau5 here was miserable, he was awesome, but this venue is not designed to entertain a crowd for an artist like this. And honestly this crowd, or at least the VIP section, was more interested in the status of being at his concert and posting about it than actually giving and enjoying his music. On top of it all, people and the security guards would push out into us lowlifes in the GA section. Not worth it in my opinion. They strictly close at 0100 on Tuesdays and open no additional tables when you exit. This is my second time at Foxwoods, really not impressed.
They charged us for a bottle that no one even requested! When I told the bottle girl that no one requested the extra bottle she informed her manager. I even asked who ordered the bottle and she was unable to point out who she claims asked for another bottle. The manager that she introduced me to was completely unprofessional to the point where my cousin had to step between us because of how angry I was. When I informed him that I didnt request another bottle during my visit he responded by saying “well why would you drink a bottle that you didn’t order?” I responded by asking why wouldn’t someone make sure that the person who’s card they have on file is ok with another bottle being added? The whole situation was shady and I will absolutely not be back to Shrine and will be sure to tell my wide network to never go here either unless things change because this seems to me like it was a complete scam.
Came here for my friends birthday party. We stayed at fox tower which is conveniently located next to Shrine, but also very very far from everything else. Aparently cover for ladies is free before 10 pm Saturday. We arrived around 12:30 and paid 20 bucks each. The bouncers were nice enough. But the club? Forget about coming here. What garbage. The DJ couldn’t keep the rythum going and songs kept stopping, had no rythym or continuation and were a weird mix of Disney songs and techno, r&b smash up that just sucked. Drinks were 7 bucks for 12 ounce bottles. Smelled of vomit, too packed to move and weird. You can’t leave and come back either. Would not come back. The club in the casino across the way had better music.
I came here for NYE which is what this review is based on. First, I needed to take medication in which it was to early to take before I went to take. I asked for a cup of tap later for the fact I already knew water cost a lot. They said “ we can’t give you tap you must buy the 5 dollar bottle”. I went around in hopes that I would find another bartender which has no problem. Thankfully I was able to take my meds. Second, there was NO where to sit for general entry only for those who spent that extra money. I feel as though a bar can and should have chairs or allow re-entry. Everyone and anyone should be about to sit. However, those who were working the bar was working at a fast pace. That right there is the only reason I’m giving this place a two star.I hope this helps those of you looking for a place to go clubbing at Foxwoods.
Bartenders are extremely friendly mostly. Club Security does not follow wardrobe guidelines(s) described on the Shrine website. The place is way too small to hold big named DJ’s such as Audien and Alan Walker. The experience of attending my second Alan Walker concert was left in utterly disappointment.
Payed $20 a person to get into a club that was so crowded you couldnt even dance. Place was definitely over capacity but all they care about is continuing to collect that $20 at the door. Save your money and go somewhere that can actually accommodate what Shrine is advertising.
Only reason for 2 stars was for the friendly bartender and attend person in the bathroom. Otherwise. I felt they oversold the tickets for Pauly D show and he didnt even come out until midnight. It was so crowded and we couldnt even get through to go to the bathroom or get out of the club. If there was a fire, would they be up to code? I dont think so.
Floor was so sticky my shoes kept coming off and the bathrooms were the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. One stall had vomit all over the toilet seat and the bathroom attendant told us it was ok to use because it was only a Heineken that spilt (she must not have noticed the chunks) another stall was flooded and the last stall had a broken seat and toilet paper everywhere. The bathroom attendant also yelled at my friends when she told someone walking in how disgusting the bathrooms were saying “she shouldn’t be advertising it because she’s was cleaning them” (yet she was standing there doing nothing the entire time we were there). Please keep in mind this was also 10:15 at night when the club opens at 9:00. Strongly recommend going elsewhere.
Good music and djs they get here occasionally. Drinks are extremely expensive and have hardly any alcohol in them. They close very early. The bouncers are rude and useless. You cant walk around with two drinks in your hand? Im bringing this other drink to my friend tough guy. Come try me..
Always a great time at Shrine! Dinner at Red Lantern first, dancing at Shrine after, and never disappointed! The staff is friendly, professional and always out to impress! I highly recommend for birthdays, bachelor/bachelorette parties, or any occasion!
Oh my god the party was amazing, finally one place like in europa, place was packed!!!!
The club puts on some really good shows but the only problem I have with the place is that they absolutely take you to the cleaners for water! The water should be readily available for everyone for proper hydration so that no one passes out or even worse dies. Oh any by the way it doesnt have to be Voss water, nothing wrong with the good ole fashion casco brand bottled. This is one thing Id like to see change in the near future. I really dont think thats asking for too much.
Ive been to shrine many times before and never had an experience like this. Went out for my friends birthday and was WAY too crowded! Cant even move. The bathrooms are disgusting and bartenders were rude. This bouncer who said his name was JD... absolutely rude and wanted to ruin someones night. Worst night ever. NEVER AGAIN.
Ive been in Shrine a few times in the past and had some fairly mediocre experiences. The first time was for a friends birthday where our group ate sushi upstairs for dinner adding up to an $800 tab. We then swung around to the club expecting to at least be comp’ed at the door for our bill. This on a weeknight there was no line and it was not very crowded inside, the bouncer told us we would be paying a full cover to get inside. When we put up enough of a stink about the food bill we just paid the manager came along and finally conceded. This past weekend I was at Foxwoods for a bachelor party. After dinner we were walking by the Shrine front entrance to gamble in the casino and I asked the door attendant if I could get in with shorts or would have to go change later. You need jeans to get in so myself and 3 friends broke off from the bachelor and the larger group after gambling and got changed to appease the dress code. When the 4 of us walked up to the (now long) line the bouncer waved us over and asked us if we were the same people from the bachelor party that walked by and asked about the dress code. Expecting that he would then bump the four of us up to the front we explained that we were. It was at that point when we were informed that anyone in our group would not be allowed in due to the club policy.Shrine bans bachelor parties, no questions asked. After trying to explain we had left the bachelor and the large group in the casino and that this was just a group of 4 guys trying to get in we gave up and tried a different route. We walked upstairs to the restaurant to get a few drinks and hope to move down at some point that way. There we met up with a group of 8 ladies finishing dinner who were sympathetic to our situation. They planned also to go to Shrine and invited us to enter with them. We walked to the inside entrance mixed in alternating the 8 girls and 4 guys and were started to be allowed in. One of the main entrance door attendants then walks up and recognizes our group from the earlier scenario and hand picks us out of the group of girls to reject us again. This policy is obviously arbitrary and I’m sure it’s a game for the door attendants to blacklist a group for uttering the word “bachelor”. It would be one thing if we had tried to enter obnoxiously as a group of 12 guys. But to be hand picked out of a group of 12 people entering with a ratio of 8 ladies and 4 guys is just ridiculous.Shrine is not a destination. If you are staying at Foxwoods it is one of the few available options. They would not survive if it were not for that monopoly. Get a clue and hire employees with an ounce of reasonable sense.I won’t be returning.
Never actually went inside. Me and my girlfriend where at a concert then wanted to go into Shrine. We wait in line only for security to tell us my GF looks too intoxicated to go in recommended we go grab a bite and come back in 30 minutes. She wasnt didnt understand what type of place thay sells drinks would actually turn people away unless they are over the top drunk otherwise they should let you in then if you are cuasing issues remove you. Got a sense of racial profiling I would advise against coming here if you are make sure you act proper.
Bouncer last night wouldn’t let my severely autistic friend in because he thought he was too drunk (he does not drink), meanwhile let in my other friend who was blackout drunk. Very disappointing, not accommodating and clearly a power trip
There isn’t a night club or entertainment company better then Shrine and BNEG. I have been to Liv, Story and many other nightclubs but Shrines customer service is one above all. My VIP Hosts are always Kelly and David, and they are 100% on point and are great guys. Everything from location of tables and birthday celebrations, they continue to blow it out of the water everytime I visit. Also, Preston and Anthony are the best bouncers and I look forward to seeing them everytime we pop out at shrine. If you want the best waitress ask for Kasey! Keep up the awesome work guys.
Shrine is the worst club I have ever been to. First they charge a 20 dollar cover to get in and DO NOT stamp your hand if you want to leave for a moment. You will have to rejoin the line and PAY AGAIN if you leave. The staff is extremely rude, a quarter of the club is for VIPs, and good luck hearing anything or having an inch of space!
So I went to Foxwoods over the weekend and I went to club shrine I’ve been to many clubs throughout my years up and down the East Coast and I would put club shrine in the top five most dirtiest club I couldn’t believe the trash that was all over the floor in the bathrooms on the sinks totally disgusting there was spilled drinks bottles cups glasses on the dance floor look like a Landfield Definitely would not recommend this place nor would I ever go back really disappoints at Foxwoods
Bartenders just wanna talk to eachother, mess around, and look mean/ unfriendly the whole time instead of serving and doing their job .. it was so funny when one of them acted like they didnt see me waiting to buy a drink lol. Worst venue Ive ever been too and super overpriced
Only good thing about this club is the decorations and bartender. It gets crowded and for $20 not worth it. Use that $20 and go to Centrale FoxTower across from Shrine in the middle of the casino and buy yourself 2 drinks. They play better music and its free.
Absolute trash is the thought that comes to mind. Saw dillon francis here and my god he must of cried at the venue he got stuck playing. First off, the venue is laid out so poorly and can not accommodate the amazing shows that play here. Second it turns into a massive shove fest due to cramped, poor lay out. The sound was horrible, if you love edm youll cry felt like i was in my car listening to music. Security was throwing everyone out that was dancing and even saw them giving drugs to waitresses. Place is a dump with high cover charges avoid like the plague.
Not sure where you found the bartender Marisa but she is amazing. One of the best bartenders I have ever been served by. She is a keeper!!!
Nothing like ordering the same drinks and the price changing everytime you order at the same bartender. Also used my card ONCE and had 3 seperate charges for 3 different prices. Will not be returning.
So overpriced, watery drinks, claustrophobic, angry crowd, bad layout. The only decent thing is the decor and the shows air canon special effect things
AJ was the best bartender. He made every drink perfectly without stress and took his time to wish a happy birthday to my friend! Keep him forever!
Shrine was the absolute worst Club iv ever been in, paid 160 dollars to get Crammed into a 16x30 space, I get harassed by 3 girls Rolling for hours and when. I say something to the bouncer he ignored me and them when I got upset and walked away, they chased me.and kicked me out because I walked away angry. Didnt even get to see what I paid for. If you dont pay for vip you have nowhere to sit. I would just gamble the money, would be better spent
I dont know what the big deal is with this place! My friend and I went in to do some dancing. We ordered a shot of tequila, a grand gold margarita and a wster. $50!!!!!!!!! Never again
For what CT has to offer, this is the best place to go! Some fun acts like Tiesto and Zedd have come through and they put on an amazing show! It’s always a good time here!! The staff is friendly and always takes care of me!
My favorite nightclub!! My friends and I have been coming here for years and we always have the best time!!!
This was my first time coming to foxwoods. I came on a bus trip and I found thr bus ride full of pleasure compared to actually being in foxwoods. The DJ was horrible its 2017 play a mixture get up to date tunes and when a song comes on and the crowd is hype do not change it. I would also need managers of the waitresses and servers to go over there handbook despit playing games I could not get servered and asked serveral waitress walking around with trays of drinks for a drink and was not served and when I finally took one waitress had a nerve to snatch it back out my hand saying she dont just go in my purse damn right you dont i dont get paid for people to go in my purse but you do get paid to serve drinks so serve me do your job.
I had the best experience at Shrine. I am very impressed by the venue. I was taken care of by all staff and will be back again! :) 10/10 experience
My friends and I drove over an hour and paid $20 to get into Shrine. After an hour we were kicked out for being too drunk despite the fact that between the three of us we had at most 3 drinks and none of us had to drive. I will not return to Shrine and instead will go to Avalon at Mohegan Sun.
Awful experience. I have been to many clubs before but this place is badly setup with horrible sound, security and staff. All they care about is money. STAY AWAY. Go to Mohegan instead. The covercharge is like 30 bucks.
Horrible place; not enough space to dance; drinks to expensive; the dj was great but the location super uncomfortable. I dont recommend it and I wouldnt go there again
Awful experience, Owner and bouncers are very unprofessional and do not care about paying customers whatsoever. Very disappointed in how poorly this establishment is ran/owned. WIll never be back! Would leave 0 stars if I could!
Went to Shrine on a Tuesday and it was insaneee - can’t imagine what the weekends would be like. Felt like I was in Vegas. The waitress was really nice and tons of fun!
The night began good but after, the waitress was horrible, overcharged me, and after wasting over a grand they kicked me out as soon as 1240 hit on a Sunday. I will not be going here ever again and choose to go to another place at Foxwoods.
Y’all need to fire the brown bouncer with the spray on beard. It looks like this isn’t the first time people complained about him. Dont waste your money here. Worst experience ever
Horrible nightclub. There is not enough space for the events they hold here. The security guards are complete a-holes and will kick you out for reasons that arent proven. I will never be going back and will never suggest this club to anyone. Spend your money elsewhere.
Best club around! Bar tenders are so professional and in my opinion they always smile, make eye contact and give you their full attention when taking your order.
Went here for my boyfriends birthday. Purchased a drink and when the transaction cleared the bartender had changed my tip from $3 to $23.
Went to shrine for a birthday party, the entire night couldn’t have gotten any better, didn’t matter if you were just grabbing drinks or had a table everyone and every part of the night felt VIP. Our bottle girl was so tentative, music was on point next time I’m out that way it’s priority to go back
Jason Morgan should pay attention to his employees such as Justin the guy with pony tail( was wearing gray suite on 6/17/2017). Worst costumer service ever! People like him should not even be able to work with customers, he has no manners and doesnt know how to solve problems! This club is waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went there with a few friends & it was so much fun! Everyone was so nice & the music was the best 🔥🔥🔥
During the event on which was Dj Hardwell, service was good though bodyguards a little too nervous was seen that the strength looking for someone who can throw away, affordable this is not one of the cheaper places to have fun, the so large amount of people bar was clean, toilets also only place where he was smoking room was very dirty even though the staff were there, for a few minutes before closing bodyguards has become aggressive and told to go out because it already closed( 20 minutes before) can say that the end of this event was not successful.
They gave us a 75% watered down bottle of vodka at a our VIP table for a Chainsmokers concert. They need to be reported to some government agency.
Fun atmosphere with some of the best Djs. Vegas style and friendly staff. A club not to miss out on!
Shrine attracts some good talent, but the layout forces people together. Lot of sweaty bros up in here, but overall not a bad experience
Worst VIP location in tight proximity to the tiny dancefloor. Way overpriced drinks and unfriendly staff.
Great time! Unique atmosphere, great bartenders, will absolutely return. I LOVE TUESDAYS AT SHRINE!
Really fun place to spend the night dancing to my favorite djs! Staff is awesome and drinks are delicious
No other venue in the area books the acts that SHRINE does. Awesome Vegas-style nightlife right inside of a casino!
Horrible place. was 100 dollars to buy the ticket and the line was so big. Horrible !!! I got there and I left after 40 ms because out side was better and free.
Music is great! Staff is amazing! Lights are crazy! Will definitely be back soon!
Sat at the bar and really enjoyed experience! Wonderfully talented bartenders. Great drink menu
Mary is great the most attentive bartender I’ve had allEvening ! I will come back for her elevated service !
Beautifully new renovated night club with awesome fast service and great entertainers!
It was ok. Crowded at first then it was dead. DJ was ehhh. Drinks were good.
Always #BADASSERYATITSFINEST, GREAT venue.. Great parties and overall experience .. where the Beautiful people have a good time!! Great staff, etc. Etc. Etc.😎😎❤❤❤
The wife and I had a good stay at the Fox Towers. I do recommend this resort. It was date night for us.
If you like a super cramped dance floor, astronomically expensive cocktails and horrible music, this place is for you.
One of the top night clubs in CT. Love the EDM scene there on Tuesdays. Always a good time!
Great atmosphere and amazing staff! No place around here books DJs like they do!
Great atmosphere, amazing service, great bottle selection, a little bit of Vegas here in CT!
Horrible nightclub. The security guards are very rude and will kick you out for no reasons.I WONT BE RETURNING.
Best bottle service ever, new renovation looks amazing
Love this place! Me & my friends go every weekend we are obsessed!
Too crouded, short staffed on New Years.
Great attention from staff, drinks are great, and world class DJs make for an incredible night out
This venue is way too small for the awesome shows that go on here...it just turns into a giant shove fest, every time.
The bouncers busted my lip open and had to go er... worst club ever never go there...
Amazing food . I would say top 10 meals I have ever had out. Love it.
Staff were cool. DJ was pretty damn good!
Love coming to see all the big artists here!
I was denied because I was white 💯 percent
Always have a great time here! Awesome music!
When they get good DJs its a great venue
Eric, the manager, is the GOAT. Anything you need at the club, he can help you with.
Staff is not trained in handling medically disabled people. was treated very poorly
Stay Away from this place they will make you loook like you are not your self that’s how crooked place this is it
If I could give less than one star, I would. Go to Avalon in Mohegan Sun instead.
Amazing sound system, friendly bartenders.
Horrible experience with bottle service
Only have pics as friends went there and looked fun...
Great place to turn up at and have a great time.
Wasnt impressed with the food when I attended a function here
Highly disappointed with this place. Staff was very unprofessional and rude.
Thr Lobster rangoons are a must try.
Excellent service and yummy sushi!
It gets way crowded and cant accommodate.
Bartenders are super friendly!
Overrated!!! Unfriendly Stuff!!! No Space!!! Absolute worst!!!
Terrible bartenders with bad attitudes!
Super awesome place to go!
Love this place
Always entertaining.
Had alot of fun
Saw Adventure Club, was brutal
Stupid rules...not worth it.
Tuesdays are awesome!
Shrine is the place to be !
Best night club around.
Expensive but lit
Awesome nightclub!
Overpacked and overpriced
Place is a joke.
It was awesome.
Nice atmosphere
Great club
