I dont come here a lot. It usually gets full very late at night, which is too late for me. The crowd is mostly younger people. The 2nd floor is very nice, great for special events. They open the floor to a lot of invite only community events. Those are often a lot of fun. For a bar, the food is pretty good too. They do not have outlets for your devices, but offer a charging locker, where you can put your phone in and charge it for $1.99. Takes a lot of time though.
Therapy is every gay mans passage right for their first coming out/gay clubbing experience. I loved it my first time and til this day go here. The popular RuPaul Drag queen Miz CRACKER always performed here, so it has great history. No Cover, drinks are decently priced, and close to great restaurants. Another club across the street so you can easily bar hop. Music is very hit or miss but more edm, remixes and played throughout- not just snippets. Come enjoy the friendly, clean atmosphere.
I had a pretty good time there. The show was definitely the best part about the bar. The waiter I got was quite arrogant though--I could tell. Great looks dont make it acceptable for you to be at all rude to someone you are serving when they have literally done nothing to bother, insult, or otherwise provoke you. He wasnt awful, but he had a bit of an attitude at times and gave off the general sense that he was above my friend and I, when I was just trying to enjoy my food and have a good time. Theyd probably be better off finding some friendlier servers, but other than that it was great!
Went in and thought the place was cool. First impressions can be misleading as this location was far far from “cool”. I get it, it’s fun when the bartenders are naked, but when the heat is turned up to 90F and you can’t catch your breath. Four separate people asked me if I was crying, but I was just sweating, and this happened before I was able to order a drink. In the end we left, went to 9th Ave and had the one drink required to return to normal body temperature. In short: don’t be cheap on the AC, if it’s too cold people can wear a sweater. If it’s too hot you have to leave.
Came here on the weekend and the place is really nice, bartenders are super nice and friendly. The guys that go there are not so nice, its not as diverse as I thought too many Asians. I kept getting pushed and every time I looked to see who it was, every single time they were Asian. I usually like Asians but the ones there are super rude, they have no manners.
One of my favorite bars in NYC. Drinks are reasonably priced, with a happy hour 2-for-1 special. The bartenders are friendly and reasonably fast in serving drinks. The atmosphere is always very relaxed and enjoyable, especially right after work.
I have just been kicked out of this bar for no reason at all by a staff guy! I have just finished a drink and was just hanging around on the second floor before getting a second drink and this guy came and ordered me to leave. When I asked why, he told me he wanted so and thats it. I just left because I had no will to stay there after it (and honestly, the bar is not that good to compensate further discussion with its staff), but the bar should select their staff better. That guy is insane and he seemed to want a fight, so he cannot at all deal with public. I travel a lot and go to different bars worldwide, but never experienced something similar. If you are thinking of going there, consider other options as NYC may have better places to offer.
Down-to-Earth crowd, and not stuck-up about how you dress. 60% white, 30% Asian, 10% black; 65% men and 35% women.Sick mix of 80s, hip hop, and T-Swift.Closes after 3.Drinks are as cheap as youd find in most cities. I paid $8 for sex on the beach and it was reasonably strong.Fast drink service and no attitude.Great location close to Times Square for late night reveling.
Ahh so many great and fabulous memories here— lots of gay bday celebrations and meetups. I can see how, to some, the crowd can come off as uptight but honestly, if you’re here with friends, you’re gonna have a great time anyway. Drinks are your standard Manhattan prices, they have coat upstairs but the line gets super long. I still come back for the music and dancing. They also have a lounge on the main floor.
A very circa who knows place, but not an unpleasant spot......the new gay paradise yet not an upsetting turn of events to straight women (eye candy is eye candy and they have it a plenty). Awesome drinks reasonable tapas and the waiters are usually very cute helpful and attentive.
Im not into waiting in lines to get into bars, so grab a drink nearby and come back when they are letting people in again. The good side to this strategy is that you get a lot of action inside but dont feel claustrophobic. A variety of spaces (including a stage for shows) and a mixed crowd.
One of the nicer classier joints in Hells kitchen to wet your whistle. Great decor and the bathroom is one of the less sketchy of the hells kitchen joints.Always can find a great cabaret show or drag show going on upstairs. Weekends draw in a fun dance crowd occasionally.
Therapy has consistently been a great spot in Midtown. While many other places have come and gone, this establishment is here for the Long haul. The food is excellent! The service is excellent! And most importantly this place is massively fun!!!
I visited Therapy over a series of Monday nights, arriving for happy hour & settling in for the RuPauls Drag Race viewing parties. The bouncer, the bartenders, and the waiters were all competent & friendly. Therapy is an inviting place, I never felt ignored or disregarded by the staff. The Absolut vodka drink specials were reasonably priced & not watered down. Even when swamped with drink orders, the bartenders acknowledge your presence & apologizes for the wait. Such a small detail, but something that stood out for me.
This popular bar which was a standout in the neighborhood when it first opened in HK. On its tail as HK has become the new Chelsea Therapy still retains many of its charm while changing to match the neighborhood’s demographics. While popular with locals it is also very popular with tourists compared to other bars in the area. The drinks are okay. All depends of the bartender but tends to be on the weak side and prices are comparable to any other drinks you get everywhere else. The stand out is the modern interior with the central stair. The table service and they also serve food. The guys tend to vary age wise but lean on the younger millennials. They have shows on some night. Sunday night are always fun as more locals and a drag show to cap the evening if you can stay out that late before a school night.
A staple of Hells Kitchen, especially before many of the see-and-be-seen gay bars popped up from 2010 on. A great happy hour spot for business-types during the week, while on the weekend the upstairs becomes a dance floor packed to the walls. Oh, and a gay bar rarity: they have food. Pizza and quesadillas were always a favorite when happy hour went just a little too long, or you were rushing to catch one of the bars nightly shows.
I was just DENIED ENTRY at Therapy bar right now. Its 11:40 pm; me and my friends were coming into the bar to start our night and the security asked us to make a line behind me (I was the first one on the line, because the bar was kinda empty). When one of my friends positioned behind me I asked him to hug me because he was behind me, joking with him. The security immediately told us to stop doing that because we were not allowed to hug in the line, only inside the bar. I felt that something wasnt right so I told the security that I wasnt doing anything wrong and I would keep hugging my friend. He simply said: SO GO TO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND HE BLOCKED THE DOOR. Not enough embarrassment, the security staff from Therapy came across the street and told the Industry crew to dont let us go inside the Industry Bar as well. That was one the worse feelings Ive ever felt. Im from Brasil and being gay down there isnt easy, but Id never ever think that something like that could happen to me here in NYC specially in a gay club. Ill see what can be done regarding this matter. But like everybody say, NYC is hard and soft at the same time and right after this incident we crossed the street and the security staff at INDUSTRY BAR heard our complains and all three security staff came to us and said: Dont worry, here you can hug and be yourself, we love you guys. And one of them even gave me a hug!
Bartenders are the best and really liked their attitude. The drag queens had a great show and were also very friendly to me and everyone. Great crowd of people and place to be at.
There drag show and the brunch is amazing and they make sure you have unlimited drinks for real!!! The food is quality for the money!!! I enjoyed my time... Its a must brunch experience!
The bouncers denied my GOVERNMENT ISSUED DRIVERS LISCENCE under the presumption that it was fake. It is absolutely real and they had no proof for denying me access other than a hunch. It was my friends birthday and he had made a reservation for all of us to celebrate. Despite me attempting to logic with the bouncers, they got very aggressive and told me I want not welcome even if I went home to get my passport or other form of identification. I will NEVER be returning.
My partner and i who is transgender loved this place. It has a beatiful relaxing ambience, lovely music and DJ. We loved loved loved the drag performances, and the tastey food. But thats not all, they also do support social justice causes and the night we were there they fully supported a fundraiser for an East African Activist LGBTIQ fund UHAI EASHRI. The food anx drinks were on them. This is definatelg a place i would recommend if you come to New York.
This place is amazing. They have a stage you can dance on. Reasonably priced drinks, nice bartenders and a diverse atmosphere. It is the go to place on the weekends to dance the night away.
I loved this place till last week,I went there almost every Friday night and almost a year. Staffs are super nice, drinks are good, so every time my friends come visit me, I always refer them to therapyHowever The new security guy was super rude. (Someone told me that this happened before too) So, I use my passport to go there all the time, but last week, the new security told me that...oh this is not you, good night, bye and push me away. All my fiends who are regular all be like what the.... Then later, one of our girl friend who visiting from Japan had same issue. Oh come on, she used her passport passed customs in JFK but couldnt get in to a bar????Im sorry, who are you???? and one thing pissed me off so much is, the security pushed her when she tried to convince security that its her passport.Just.... Forget this till they have a better security guy
First time, and it was actually better than I expected. The host for the night was entertaining and she has a solid voice. Servers are polite and attentive. I only ate the calamari, and it was delicious.
One of the most hetero-friendly gay bars in the area. Always fun, and drinks are cheap.Wish that the music was a little less top40, but dance floor is always fun anyway.
Different days, different experiences. Great mixed drinks with funny names that will remind you of that peculiar therapy. HK crowd with a mix from everywhere specially on weekends. Nice shows and great music most of the times
Great bar with a very friendly atmosphere. Groups of friends form the crowd that folks the place with a happy and welcoming vibe. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the cocktails are good as well.
I cant describe what the bar is like on the inside because I never made it in. The bouncer outside said my friends ID was fake when it definitely wasnt and was good enough for the TSA to let her fly in to NYC but apparently not for this clown. Bouncer threatened to confiscate ID, I threatened to call police. Needless to say his attitude soured the place for me. Wont be back and wont recommend. They need to update their ID scanners because that was ridiculous.
Stylish place where to have some drinks, It counts with two floors, with a nice illumination that helps to create better atmosphere but still the dance floor can be small in busy days and the time to wait the line make this place to dont be chosen to go on weekend or in any festive day.
This place actually has great food, in addition to Good drinks and a great vibe! Ive never had issues here and the staff is always friendly. This bar seems more welcoming than others in HK.
I have not had the food yet, but this bar is a must when you are in NYC. Friendly and HOT bar staff with excellent drinks and usually a great drag show. Enjoy.
They tried overcharged me, pay 14 dollars for REGULAR well drink its insane, plus when I got a drink and left it for one minute, the stuff cleaned it up while I had more than half drink left and after saying everything to bartender he said that I have only option to buy a new one, all it happened in my birthday I felt really disrespectful.... I spent a lot of money at this bar and I wished to get a better respond if I needed help
Weekends are very fun with a great dancing crowd upstairs with a great DJ and a lounge vibe downstairs. Weekdays are fun too with a different event (read:drag show) every night.
One of my favorite bars in Hells Kitchen area to go to! After 10pm, ask for my bartender friend Joe! Tell him I sent you. He works upstairs more than downstairs.
They kept my expensive sake in my bag outside but when i came back to pick it up, they said they dont know where the bottle went and it went missing and barback took it. The doormen were useless, and unwilling to even help me find it for something they took. Management shoulda let the doormen kno for typical case like this.
I love this place. Its how a gay bar should be. The service, food and drinks are really good. Probably they need little more space to dance.
Who doesnt need a little Therapy? The drink specials are good, and the food is great. Nice place to meet friends on a Sunday night, during the week, or just hang out.
Ive historically had a great time here, but an ass-hole bouncer broke my 29-year-old friends ID, claiming it was a fake. I havent really wanted to go, since.
The Big Top drag/burlesque show going on on Thursdays was the best entertainment in town by a long shot! Had a really good night out, definitely recommend
I went yesterday had a great time and was very entertained. Food was good, drinks were good. Would definitely come again
I always come here. It is my go to spot. The music is mixed well and the bartenders are super nice! Party ovah here my gabies!
Love this place! Camp and loud....nothing not to love. Can get crowded. Plays great pop music. Good young crowd!!
Good drinks. I liked the atmosphere. The decor is nice. Would go again.
Somehow I never have a great time at this place. The spaces are too broken-up. The midweek drag shows are pretty good.
This place is amazing. They have a stage you can dance on. Reasonably priced drinks, nice bartenders and a diverse atmosphere.
Nice place to stress out , nice drinks, they need to play better music, thers plenty of nice music, security at the door very friendly.
Awesome ski lodge-esque atmosphere, hot bartenders and a fun crowd. Sit upstairs for the shows and their amazing Therapy Burger.
Worst possible place you can go. If you want to get kicked out middle of nowhere. Cant hear any reasons. You can go and ruin your night.
Good place to hang out with friends. The crowd is fun and the bartenders friendly.
Usually crowded with lots of cute Asian guys. Great drinks and great music.
Great gay bar. Relaxed atmosphere, cute staff and good food.
Can be packed later in the night. Has a somewhat mixed crowd but the music is amazing.
Fun, friendly bar with nightly events. The staff is super friendly!
The manager Kash is amazing and very accommodating in helping for events to be carried out at Therapy. Thank you Kash!
This place is amazing management is awesome as well. I encourage you to try it when in the shock or bottom area.

Mixed Crowd Music not really a fan of but drinks were cool LGBT spot
Ive never been to New York before, its on my bucket list to go to a good rated gay bar in NYC with my boyfriend.
Doren the bartenders was AWESOME!! Mixes the best drinks......
Always come here because of the music. Industry is right across the street too but the music here wins :-)
Drinks are probably the strongest Ive encountered. Nice ambiance when the AC is on.
I went on day they were having a queer show and it was really funny!
A very “specific” kind of crowd. Me love you long time!
Great place to have an after work cocktails.
Fun gay bar to grab a few drinks with friends.
Good bar with dance floor upstairs.

Great place for a few drinks in a great space
So many Asians, if this is your thing then you want to be here!

Bouncer said my ID was fake and it wasnt
Shows started late, food was very salty.
Quick + easy, midtown drinks.

There are a lot of AsiansI think Koreans also saw this every time they went there. The first time I went, the Blackpink song played twice. The second one only pops out...But the pop song is a bit weird...And theres not even EDM... Ugh ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠIm really surprised that the song was so bad yesterdayIt closes at around 4 oclock here.
Good atmosphere, people of all kinds. You can have dinner and a drink, I usually have shows and it works as a drinks place until late.
Beautiful place. The bartenders attention was excellent. We will be back soon with many more friends. Thanks for everything😍🤩
Very pretty place. Cozy atmosphere. Very pleasant server. A place to go with your eyes closed
Its a quiet bar, good for going with friends!
