This is literally the only place I will go for manicures. The owner here is just so kind and sweet to me. Its like talking to a long-lost friend. All the nail technicians are very kind and well-mannered, and even the appointment setter/receptionist. Theyve all been helpful, kind, and patient. Vegan nail polish is also another reason why I go here. They have a variety of options to choose from. You even meet some other nice customers who will talk to you every so often. Love, LOVE it here. 20/10 (definitely recommend!)

I came in with a large group for a bachelorette party and had a wonderful experience. Every one of us enjoyed our visit. The staff were a pleasure to work with and somehow made it seem easy to schedule ten people with different services. CJ did a great job managing our visit on the day of, and the salon was such an oasis in the middle of the lower east side. Seriously relaxing and could not recommend more highly.

I absolutely adore this salon! I got a signature pedicure here a few months ago, but I quickly found myself coming back for a Brazilian sugaring and for a manicure/pedicure during their happy hour. The atmosphere is very calm, and all of the nail techs and employees are lovely! If I were staying in nyc permanently, this would be my go to. I can’t recommend it enough, because you definitely get the best experience and quality at Hortūs!

This nail salon is hands down THE BEST in the area. The staff is so incredibly nice, approachable, and friendly. The selection of lacquer, gels, etc is phenomenal and the techs are so good. My girl was Luz and she gave the best hand massage I’ve EVER received! I also love the aesthetic of the salon - it’s gorgeous. This place is my new go to!

HORTUS delivers such an incredible experience when it comes to self-care. Whenever I leave the salon, I feel better as myself. I feel more comfortable in my skin. I feel refreshed! Highly recommend their nail care services - my nails have never looked better. I recently tried their sugar waxing for the first time and I am never going back to regular waxing.

This place is elite, the care and attention to detail is superb. The owner is there every time and she makes the place feel very safe and calming. I have only ever gotten pedicures as if I could be in the area more often I’d go regularly. They have a happy hour option every week which is affordable and incredibly well done.

Really nice atmosphere . Very pricy for a very very basic pedicure. I understand it’s city prices but it was very basic. My poor toes are also in so much pain because she cut the corners way too close, literally left in pain when I put on my sneakers .Not a hit for me.Update - still so much pain from the sides of my nails ! It’s been a week

Such a wonderful place! I have been coming here for years since they opened. Their manicures, pedicures, and sugaring are really the best I have had anywhere in the world. Jane pays such close attention to detail and it really pays off in her excellent treatments!

Got a gel mani and 20-min massage so I could use up a gift card from friends in one go. They were out of my first two selections of colors which was frustrating so ended up with my third choice. I was expecting the massage to be in a separate room or at least in a massage chair but it was in the same chair as where I had my nails done which was uncomfortable. It’s been two days and now the gel is already chipping which I have never had happen before at other salons. Staff were super nice but otherwise this was a very disappointing experience.

Best natural manicure and pedicure experience in the city. Such a clear, and tranquil space. Water/tea/coffee service on arrival. The signature manicure buff is super thorough and leaves your hands feeling so light and fresh and nails fully shinny. Its a go too!

My favorite NYC Nail Salon for the past 5 years.The manicure quality is one of the best in the city which is hard to find. They use natural products which again is important.Love the owner and great manicurists.

Loved! Loved! Loved this hidden gem found in the East Village. In the last year Ive been really honing in on receiving non-toxic gel manicures. I definitely see the difference in my overall health and of course the wellness and growth of my nails and skin by using non-toxic products.And yes I am crazy to go all the way in the city to get my nails done. But my typical place did not have any open appointments and so I googled them and they were able to see me same day within an hour and a half. Katrina, who is the manager of the nail salon was absolutely accommodating, professional and yet friendly. The place is impeccably clean and I love the exposed brick and plants creating that ambiance vibe while having your nails done.I took notice of the high class products used and loved how detail oriented my nail technician was from filing to cutting my nails to cutting my cuticles to actually applying the nail polish.In all of my years having manicures in the last 25 years, this is the first place that applies not only oil to your cuticles but also a very soothing oil-based hand lotion and did not wipe it down with a hot towel. Lol. I never knew the reasoning behind adding lotion to your hands and then removing the lotion with the hot towel. I will definitely be coming back!

Have been here a few times and have always had amazing pedicures that last for weeks.Friendly and kind staff and love the atmosphere. Totally relaxing spot on top of a relaxing treatment. Double-y perfect.

Great salon, had a pedicure and manicure there on separate occasions by two different people. Theyre NOT aggressive with the nails, not over filing, or cutting too much off when trimming cuticles, which is very rare to find these days. Nails looked lovely, and have lasted over two weeks with not one chip. I also got a foot massage the times I went it, one of the best Ive ever had.If I lived in NY this would be my regular, but when Im down again I will be sure to book an appointment again. Highly recommend.

Absolutely in LOVE with this cute little salon. Feels like an oasis as soon as you enter. The manicure is very relaxing and the technicians are most thorough. The nail polish application is perfect. The only thing that could be improved is maybe the gel formulation and the variety of shades. As compared to other salons, their gel polish chips relatively soon. They do have a lot of different shades, but perhaps it’s just me - I would have liked more shades of quirky colors like lime, lemon, teal, electric orange/blue, etc.

Lovely nail spa! Prices are high but quality is top notch. Attached is a photo of my gel mani 7 days later. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking to treat yourself!

The only nail salon in the city that doesn’t smell like a nail salon! Lovely atmosphere with jazz music and the technicians are super diligent when you tell them exactly what you want. They’ll work with you until you’re 100% happy with nail shape and the gel manis last for at least 3 weeks for me.

Very lovely little salon! I did the pedi and gel mani happy hour for $85 cash. While this is reasonable for this service and this area, for the price o think my technician could have spent a bit more time or there could be an added soak or scrub. Additionally, she didnt ask what nail shape I wanted, just went in with the file. Some of my nails are a little crooked but otherwise just fine. The salon itself is very clean and comfortable and I was offered tea or water upon arrival.

I came here because my sister googled “best pedicure in New York City” and got me a gift card to HORTUS to cover The Works pedicure after my toes took a beating running the marathon. I can say with confidence that this is indeed the best pedicure in the city! The staff was friendly and the salon was clean/so cute. My feet have never been so soft! Try this place out - you won’t be disappointed.

Peaceful, clean, and inviting salon! The technicians really take their time and have great attention to detail. Check in and out process is easy. Everyone is lovely. They also help find the color you are looking for so you don’t need to filter through a million books and colors.I get a gel manicure with removal and signature pedi!

This place has absolutely ruined pedicures for me! I can’t go anywhere else that compares. I’m serious. This place gives the best pedicures in NYC. I get their signature pedicure and they take their time with your cuticles and rough patches. They have a great recovery nail polish as well for nails that have been damaged from gel polish. I come all the way from Hell’s Kitchen to get my toes done here. No where else does it better.

I love there are options such as happy hour during the day. I did a Brazilin wax and the Luxe Express Mani & Pedi. I love the environment, it was calming, such a great experience but I also didnt feel like I was sitting around waiting. The wax was great, she made me feel super comfortable and the mani/pedi was also great (she was gentle but enough need to ensure I got a genuine pedicure). I would definitely recommend this and I do plan on coming back.

Great spa experience. Atmosphere was perfect, I felt relaxed and calm for my pedicure. Technician was friendly, front desk staff excellent. You should definitely try them out.

Spent 2.5 hours to leave with a chunky, uneven polish that chipped and dented before walking out the door. Ambiance is lovely but I paid for nails, not water or tea service. Definitely dissapointed and will not visit again.

Discovered this gem of a spa Tuesday, had to come back for more Friday. Cant wait to return when Im back in the city at the end of the month. So amazing😍 Jane (owner) and all the other ladies are very welcoming and sweet - make you feel right at home. The exposed brick, walls of gorgeous living plants and minimalist decor is soothing and refreshing. Every service is executed with care and attention to detail. (Ive tried the Happy hour mani/Pedi and sugaring on upper lip and leg so far) All of the skin care products are high quality and use only natural ingredients. Cannot wait to return!

RUDE receptionist. Small. Seats are uncomfortable. receptionist with Dark hair and fair skin didn’t greet me and was unkind to her surroundings. They do not take responsibility for their words or scheduling. Had me wait.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS Business. There are better nail places close by that are WORTH the experience.

The nail technicians are all super nice and skilled. They fit me in at the last minute and I was so grateful! Its a very relaxing atmosphere and it smells super nice.

Came here on a whim since I was in the area and received the most impeccable pedicure. My nails were dried out due to all of the gel pedis I used to get and Veronica took such good care of me. She really got my cuticles and shaped my nails beautifully!

Beautiful vibe, so much attention to detail from the comfort of the chairs to the soft jazz to the numerous plants. Only thing that was a little odd is that there’s no assist with putting shoes back on at the end - but maybe bc I came at the end of the day. Other than that, wonderful experience.

I went there for manicure with my little sister to celebrate my engagement. The best nail salon I have ever been in NYC. The place is very clean and the plants make the whole atmosphere relaxing. The manicurists are very professional and great at what they do. I got french tips regular nail polish and they lasted two whole weeks. What a dream! Well be coming back for more.

I like the final results!! Eventually spent 200+ on mani and Pedicures, but the quality is worth the price ... The only pity is that the managing lady is cold and rude. I probably expected a welcome rather than do you have a musk? and gave the price loudly. The most interesting part is that she was very welcoming to another two French girls, and asked about their profession, etc. As a French-born Asian who has lived in Paris for the past ten years... Im shocked by her double attitudes.

I absolutely love Hortūs! The salon is incredibly quiet, clean, and comfortable. The nail technicians do stunning work (the best pedicures I have ever had), and the staff is wonderful. I have been looking for a go-to nail place in NYC for years, and I am so happy to have found this salon. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

This is my favorite nail salon in the city. The technicians are almost invariably great and options for services are customizable to your needs. That alone is worth 5 stars. The peaceful ambiance and beautiful decor put it over the top. Once you go to Hortūs, you won’t want to go anywhere else.

When I found Hortus Nail works I couldn’t wait to try their signature pedicure since my feet were in need of some TLC. They took their time and made sure I was comfortable. The atmosphere is clean, relaxing and chic. Definitely a must try for anyone close by.

One of the best mani pedis I’ve ever gotten. The salon is like a mini oasis in the city. It is absolutely immaculate; the owner is so clearly dedicated to cleanliness and keeping her clients and staff safe and healthy. The mood in there is so calming with comfortable chairs and soft jazz music. The manicurist was so diligent and detail oriented. She really took her time to make everything perfect. Will absolutely go back!

This place is adorable. Everyone is friendly and smiles big - always a good sign. My nail tech lady did an excellent job applying two thin coats of dark burgundy polish to my nails, the lines are laser sharp and she capped all the edges twice! What a professional! Love it!

This was one of the best mani pedis I have ever gotten. I walked in on a trip to New York and they were extremely accommodating, even with a pretty booked schedule. I didnt feel rushed at all, and I absolutely love the way my nails turned out. The ambience is amazing, the staff is SO nice, and the entire place felt very clean and serene. Will absolutely be returning next time I am in New York.

I love this place! Every nail artist is equally skilled and the salon is a cozy safe-haven filled with plants. Jane, the owner, is a meticulous perfectionist. She hand picked the artist, the rustic decor, the beverages(wine/teas), as well as, organic soaps/body lotions and jewelry for sale! Huge COLOR, both gel and regular. This isn’t some large nail factory, it’s a well curated boutique!!!Check it out! You won’t regret it!

I have been going to Hortus for two years now! They are unbelievably clean and provide a great service! My manicures always last over a week from them! In addition, I’ve started going to get sugared here. It is so clean, easy, and painless. I’m so glad it’s a one stop shop for both nails and sugaring services!

This is my go to nail spot. I’ve been consistently coming here for over a year now. The place is super clean and comfortable. The staff is lovely. Their manicures and pedicures are excellent. Call ahead of time to make an appointment.

Don’t go - overpriced (was there when a mom and her two daughters got mani pedis and the total was $750 for 3 gel mani pedis before tip) and I was charged for my whole appointment for cancelling for an emergency 4 hours before my appointment because it was in their cancellation policy I was never made aware of - I only booked on the phone and they said they need a credit card to hold the appointment and would never charge it unless I arrived literally had no idea about a cancellation policy. The people are nice and the service is good, but at the end of the day the pros don’t outweigh the cons.

My husband and I went for pedicures (we got The Works package) which was such a wonderful experience! The owner was so personable and greeted us like weve known her for ages and was very upfront about the fees and any add ons and there were no surprises with pricing unlike other salons Ive been to. The nail techs were thorough and so meticulous. Other nail salons Ive been to have been good and my toes always look good but this was just next level. Ive never seen such detailed and perfect work on my toes....looks like those photoshopped foot model pictures LOL.

While some salons leave you feeling as though youre on a bit of a conveyor belt, this absolutely does not. A lovely, clean and relaxing salon. Everyone was very friendly.My mum and I went for manicures and pedicures after getting off a 7 hour flight from the UK and left feeling thoroughly relaxed with beautiful nails too.Definitely go here. You wont regret it.

The lovely lady who did my pedicure did an outstanding job I must say. However, considering the somewhat run down area the salon is located in and the small size of the salon, their prices are a tad high. Probably wont go back because of it.

Really enjoyed my manicure here. They have thought a lot about how to make a nail salon feel pleasant and natural! Very elevated from the salons I’m used to! My only feedback is a suggestion to switch up the playlist... smooth jazz for an hour while someone does your nails.... it’s a lot! give me cheesy spa music or classical or something! Otherwise, 5/5, staff is great and great ambiance!

TLDR: Terrible customer service. Decent nails. Ladies, youre better off supporting the small salon near you who honors their appointments and wont charge you for services not provided.I ran into a weekend train delay, and called saying I would be 15 minutes late. I was told this was okay, and arrived 20 minutes late. Then I was told I had arrived 30 minutes late, a lie, and that they would not be able to provide full services but would charge me for my entire appointment. This is considered store credit for a future service I no longer wanted - who wants to go to a nail salon where they arrive 5 minutes later than their expected arrival time and the salon cant honor their appointment? It had only been open for the day for 20 minutes!The website says they will charge 100% for no shows, which was not what I was told when I called. I was told they would be able to accommodate my delay. When I rescheduled for the same time the next day, it was kindly suggested to me that I aim for an hour later. Right.I will be going back to get my nails done, since Ive already paid for it. I suggest you dont.

Love this amazing establishment and their organic healthy approach to taking care of oneself! Loving the sugaring method for safe hair removal and their thoughtful experience with manicure and pedicures! For me and mine, so incredibly worth the travel for their services and amazing experiences!!!

Mixed feelings. Nice decor and smelled lovely. I booked my manicure and pedicure and was asked to provide a visa to hold the spot. When I arrived just a few minutes after my appointment the receptionist was so relieved to see me, stating oh thank god you came, my manager was upset that we did not have a credit card on your file and implied she would have been in some serious trouble since they did not but my credit card was on file. I was 3 minutes late literally and felt awful at how stressed this young woman was regarding this. It seems the manager it not very kind to the staff here. Went to have a pedicure and the tap leaked all over the floor almost slipped and fell due to this. Had manicure and they did a good job but simple and not worth the price they charge. Finally went to pay for my service and they did not allow tips to be added to credit card bill. They advised me to go next door to an ATM machine. I think they could polish up on their service and the management seems to treat staff poorly. So many great nail places in NYC will try another place, do not plan to go back unfortunately.

Great service, great work, great people! Beautiful place. Offered me tea/water. Megan the receptionist is so sweet and hospitable. The nail technicians do amazing work and are very nice. Great foot and hand massage and my nails look amazing. I got the signature mani and pedi. I have been here twice. I came all the way from Houston twice! Megan scheduled my appointment and allowed me to come in a little late when I called to let her know. She agreed to take pictures of my sister and I when she was about to close! Super sweet! They wrap your toes with a fancy oil when you have close-toed shoes! How awesome is that?!

The best mani & pedi Ive ever had! The staff is wonderful, attentive and pays such close attention to detail. They also dont talk badly about their clients like most salons do. The ambiance is also relaxing with a modern/industrial twist. Be sure to make a reservation because space is limited and it gets full quickly. The only complaint is I noticed the owner is rude when speaking to her staff. She treats them like they are beneath her a day that was very apparent to me. I didnt like that at all but I will still rate this place highly because her staff is that great.

Went to this place couple months ago and was very disappointed by their service. First of all when I came in there was no one at the front desk and when the girl came, she wasn’t very friendly. I did gel manicure and after 2 days it looked like I had it for weeks. The nail polish start peeling off and the girl left huge space between the cuticle and nail polish, so it looked like it was done 2 weeks ago. Also, when I asked them if she can put a crystal on 2 of my nails, she refused and said that I need to request that through email when. Love the atmosphere of this place, but for that kind of price they have a really bad service.

Hortūs is by far my favorite spot in the city (in all categories). The signature mani pedi happy hour is the ultimate pampering experience in the most peaceful and sophisticated salon atmosphere you’ll find here in New York. I’ve been coming here for years because of how thorough both the nail and sugaring services are and how pleasant and welcoming the atmosphere and customer service is. (Jane is so wonderful!) Once you visit here, you will experience the difference and keep coming back to this secret garden. This place blows every salon in the city away. A MUST whether you’re a nyc native or just visiting!

Always a great experience - I was so happy to see that hortūs survived the pandemic. I went for a sugaring treatment and it was perfect. The work was immaculate and I feel so much better. Everything is (as it always was) very clean and the pandemic cautions are very thorough. Cant wait to go back!

I cant praise this place enough!Ive been visiting Hortus since before the pandemic and was nervous to return, knowing salons are a high risk place to be. The owner has done a fantastic job making sure that distancing is practiced and everyone is required to wash their hands upon entrance. My phone was even sanitized! Masks are used, barriers are between everyone, and I just feel overall safe being there.With that said, everyone has great attention to detail. All the nail tecs are awesome and my gel mainis last over 10 days. The staff is kind, personable and professional.I would recommend this salon to all my friends and strangers on the internet.

Should get 5 stars for the environment: quiet, nice smelling, great products that aren’t toxic,& natural. nice service and attention but 3 stars is for Manicurist. Not the best and was messy with the polish. Would go back but ask for best manicurist. Atmosphere was perfect though. Very zen and intimate.

This is simply the best sugaring experience in NYC. Owner Jane is lovely and professional and has created a beautiful, relaxing space to visit and pamper oneself. I used to dread waxes but its a genuinely relaxing and enjoyable experience at Hortus. I rarely get manicures and pedicures, but when I do its always at Hortus - I feel like Im doing something more for my health than for my vanity. Despite now living uptown, I am completely loyal to Hortus because I know that Im getting the best.

I love this place! Its clean, cute, comfortable, and they always do a great job. They use only lovely natural products. Ive also seen really incredible nail art if thats your thing. Its reasonably priced, $25 for a great manicure. I know there are a ton of super cheap places in NYC, but they pour chemicals on your skin and use pretty exploitive labor practices.

The best nail and sugaring services. The place is a tranquil oasis of relaxation. The owner has successfully created an atmosphere of indulgement of all senses, from the beautiful esthetics of the plants to the delicate scent of the herbal plants. The staff and the owner know how to pamper. I recommended this place but you better make reservations. Every time I go is a great experience!

My favorite go-to nail salon in NYC. Attention to detail is amazing and everyone who works there is very sweet. My favorite part is the vibes . It does not feel like a regular nail salon but rather a bohemian garden escape.

This place is AWESOME. I have not ever written a review before on Google+ but the service and quality of lushlife nailworks left me with no choice to to rave about it. The place smells divine, totally organic diy chic, everyone is lovely, particularly the owner Jane. One would not normally want to smell ones hands after a manicure but really when they smell this good from the organic oils and products they use - why not? Will defo be a regular!

Absolutely a treat to get my nails done here. I go to relax and enjoy a cup of tea nice jazz music and the overall chill vibe. It’s small clean and very very relaxing.

While this place is very beautiful and serene, the quality of the manicure is very-very mediocre for its price, at least the French type. I did signature manicure with French tips, totaling $37 (25 + 12). Tips of nails still had some leftovers from filing and the French was done unevenly and some sides even had gaps in coverage!Another advice - dont come before closing (I came at 6:50 for mani-pedi and they close at 8) as you will be rushed.. While the receptionist didnt mind waiting, the manicurist did not give me hands massage! In a signature manicure.. I was stupid to assume, shell do it at some point after, but since it was not a gel, it never happened..I ended up spending $100 and not happy with my visit:(

Very disappointed. While the studio is absolutely gorgeous, I’m not happy with my nails. It somehow took over 2 hours to remove my sns and apply gel polish. I ended up with 5 coats, so it’s incredibly thick and uneven. The edges are smudged... will get them removed and redone somewhere else. For $57 I’m super sad.

My first time ever, and sad to say I won’t be returning. Look, I get the point of a luxury pedicure...but you have to actually GIVE a luxury pedicure to justify your prices.I got the signature pedicure (which at $42 ain’t cheap) and it was basically like I was at a 14 year old slumber party. I watched as the woman put my feet in clear water (yes clear, nothing was added so I’m not sure what ‘salt’ they’re referring to) and then lightly buffed my callouses. My feet are extremely calloused; a minute and a half of buffing wasn’t going to do the trick. She then proceeded to just grab a pump of lotion and then gave me a 30 second massage on each leg. Barely a minute, before she started to paint my toes. That’s it; literally stuck my feet in water for 12 minutes and after some LIGHT lotion, I was done.This has to be the most basic, bare bones pedicure I’ve ever received and at $42 dollars I find that ridiculous. No scrub, nothing added to the water, barely any filing (toe shapes were uneven and it HURT). She then made me wear the fake sandals even though I had worn sandals to avoid this entirely....polish application was messy due to how misshapen the nails were. And look I get it, toes aren’t easy, but I expect a professional to navigate better than that.I’m honestly just shocked that they charged that much for something you can do at home. Stick your feet in your bathtub and paint your own nails if this is the kind of experience you want. It didn’t help that the woman next to me was getting a way more detailed experience than I was, it just made it worse that I knew I was paying the same price as her and getting a completely subpar experience. I had gotten there, finished, and paid while the woman was still getting massaged, how is that justified? I was so excited to try this place, I even came back the next day one they told me they had no availability the day before- 67 dollars wasted (did my hands too, no better) for no reason. AVOID THIS SALON AT ALL COSTS if you’re looking for actual luxury with reasonable pricing.

The small nail salon looks nice every time I visit me. The people even offer tea to their customers. These people take the safety and health of everyone into serious consideration. They know they must be mindful about using and managing thier tools/equipment. I would very likely return to this business.

Absolutely beautiful, polished salon. The interior is all exposed brick work, rustic wood and bright green plants in glass jars. Service wasnt super chatty but I felt well taken care of and liked my mani. Bring cash for tips.

My manicurist did a great job! She did not rush at all, taking the time to do everything right. The interior of the salon was lovely. I docked a star because I wasnt crazy about the vibe.

We got mani pedi there and the service was good overall. The seat arent that conformable though... just wooden seats. It would be good for them if they upgrade them to more comfortable leather or fabric seats.

Tried the sugaring and the signature mani pedi service, both were well done and the technician was very thorough and attentive. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for quality service in a quiet shop with a good atmosphere and aesthetic.

Service is always great! The detailed and attention paid can vary between staff members, but not so much that your service will be done horribly. It is also a bit pricey, but its nice to take comfort in the fact that the shop is clean and they do a good job!

Visiting for the weekend and decided to get my nails done, I walked in with no appointment. I sat down right away and got the best mani pedi Ive had in a long time- quiet, peaceful and precise.

Very nice place and adequately priced. Although the girl at the front was pretty rude and easily overwhelmed and not very good at hiding it. The mani/pedi staff did a good job and it’s a nice zen place to relax.

Such a cute & unique spot! The atmosphere was amazing. On top of that - my nails have never looked better. Highly recommend!

I went to get a manicure. Was treated very nicely. They had tea. The manicurist did a great gel manicure. Will come back.

Nice looking place and staff was nice but they couldn’t even do glitter on 2 toes and regular paint on the others….I asked and showed a picture and they said “no!” It was way to expensive for what we got.

A wonderful and relaxing atmosphere. So glad to have chosen hortus for my first ever manipedi. I would likely return for any manipedi in the future.

So much bad experience I notice that do not disinfect the tools the cups where dirty in had lipsticks pay to much money for a sevice so bad and gross I will not recommend it bardzo złe
