Not safe for womenI got assaulted during happy hour. A man spit in my face . The older bar tender a woman around 50 years old, who is Miss Philadelphia 2016 leather did nothing to stop it. The bar is known not to welcome women. They never banned the regular who assaulted me. You need to be aware of their one sided rules and just be safe. Protect your siblings.
Its a Bear and leather bar, so its a seedy dive bar filled with all those big city sorts your mama warned you about as most Bear and leather bars are, but thats part of its charm. Like most bear and leather bars it is very welcoming even if youre not into that scene, or if you just dont yet know what scene in the community you fit in, so leave your judgements outside and come on in they dont bite, well, maybe in the basement or on a Vice night (2nd Thursdays.) Vice night, speaking of the folks your mama warned you about, wink wink. Patrons range from 21 to the 80s, thin to supersized, femmy queen to big butch daddys, so believe me, youll fit in.
Phillys only remaining Dive/ Gay Leather Bar.Underwear Night Wednesdays are a good time to visit.
I used to go there all the time and it was my go-to bar. After a hiatus I went there with my boyfriend and we cant stand the main bar. The entire main floor smells like a dirty urinal. We have to go to the lower level, The Pit (which is supposed to be the grunge bar to be able to breath.
First off, its The Bike Stop. Its an awesome gay bar. Its my go too place for kink, sweat and musk.
If you’re looking for a 80’s/90’s gay atmosphere Bike Stop is for you. The atmosphere is fantastic.
No food but dont want them to be poorly rated. Just a leather themed adult gay bar with good music and a heavy atmosphere not for everyone. It was fun. Think Al Pacino in Cruising Was like Phillys version of NYCs Eagle. Def not a place for families or kids.
I used to go there for Star Trek night in the late 90s. I used to go to Happy Hour there on Friday nights in the early 2000s when theyd show old 1950s and 1960s science fiction movies. There used to be a traveling buffet back then. Theyd often give out Jell-O shots on Saturday nights. They had a store in the basement. They had a disco on the 3rd floor. My fave bartender was Rick on the 1st floor. I heard its different now, and I guess it would be. Anyone else remember the late 90s-early 2000s?
Probably the best bar in town but has much unrealized potential… there’s two floors above the main floor that they only open for special events, meanwhile on some regular weekends the bottom and main floors are fully packed to capacity. Drinks are average priced. Crowd is usually very friendly and fun. The WiFi never works
The most authentic gay bar in Philadelphia. if you are a member or Ally of the lgbtq+ community you are family here. It’s one of the oldest spaces held for lgbtq+ folx in town rich with history and it has a rock n roll dive bar vibe with friendly patrons. The root beer on tap is divine.
Great spot... eclectic crowd, free to be ones self. Strong drinks and was excited to find the basement that we didnt know about at first. My bf lost his phone and we went back, found it and they had even charged it up. We will be going back next time in Philly.
Bike Stop is a unique place that has a lot to offer. Staff has always been nice even though I dont tend the present the way a lot of other patrons do. Would love to see more people be inclusive of femme presenting folks. Overall if you think its a place you might enjoy give it a try or two. Theres different events and themes that even if one doesnt suit you another might.
Out of towner visiting not only as a regular patron but as an ally as well. When it came to last call when I was trying to place my friends and mine last drink orders I was LITERALLY YELLED AT AND SHAMED for the amount I tipped on drinks for the night. Mind you....me and my 2 other friends had only been there for an hour... 2 at the max! And any order was was under 20 bucks and I tipped at least two bucks per order. The overtly aggressive manor in which I was addressed in this situation was not only intimidating but humiliating to any new person who would dare walk onto this establishment. I would not want any of my friends whatever their orientation to frequent this bar ever!!!
Safest bar in the gayborhood. You can tell folks are looking out for you. Most times when I leave with my date, they tell us to have fun and stay safe. If Im meeting new people, its always 8pm at Bike Stop or Tabu? And dyke night is soooo much fun! Its my go to spot for dates or hanging out with friends.
Helped replaced my stroller jogger very quickly and was kind
Went with a friend a few nights ago who goes very frequently. Each had the same drink and 2 shot of tequila like he usually does. With 2 of us we worked it out it should have been about 35-40 bucks. But the next morning i noticed i was charged 60 which was odd. I dont recommend using a card just use cash instead.
I LOVE the Bike Stop, but it does need some work. I don’t want the atmosphere to change but it could use a facelift. Staff is friendly and quick, drinks are pretty nicely priced. Every event I’ve been to has been packed with great looking guys. *edit* depending on the night there are four floors of possibilities. Main level is your typical bar but with a dark climate. This is the gathering place for most guys. Great atmosphere. Second floor is more of a sports bar. More open space than main and basement bars. Top floor is the dance floor with a smaller bar. Basement/dungeon is a seedier vibe than the other floors.
My first; maybe, final trip to this bar. I live in central New York State, a former friend was telling me that this bar was closing (I dont think he likes leather bars). Im in Philly for a few days, so I decided to see it for myself. The atmosphere does say the better days are in the past, but I wouldnt write this place off my list yet. COVID-19 closed many places, Gay, and Straight, but were just beginning to re-open many businesses, so the patronage is similar to a new bar, or restaurant. Patrons will get used to meeting there again, in time. On a better note the bartender was very friendly, which helps.
Weird staff with weid rules. Smells so bad
Great place. Always had been. Ive been coming dunce the mid eighties and not too much has changed. Great dark basement THe Pit Stop. My only chimpanzee is some of the young staff need lessons in customer service. They are very friendly but being a former gay bartender I notice the bartenders could probably increase Friday and Saturday night sales by 25% or more if they were quicker and spent less time with their friends and waited the line quicker and more efficiently. Still a great place.
A throwback to the 80s, this is a four story bar with lots of places to meet and greet old friends and new. Basement bar is low and dark. Main floors more open. Looks like a small bar on a side street but amazingly big once you get in. Good drink prices too and fast eye candy bartenders.
I went there tonight for the first time. After hearing great things. The atmosphere was pretty cool and the bar was full. I was in the bar for all of 20 min maybe, then I went to use the urinal in the basement. About 40 seconds after I was in there, there was banging on the door and an employ flung open the door hitting me in the back came in and told be that I was kiked out, and asscorted me upstairs apparently I had been in the bathroom for over half an hour? News to me. Anyway he was really rude about the whole thing needless to say I will not be going back. Worst experience I have ever had.
Inhospitable dump. Smells like halitosis. Good place to get twink-level attitude from morbidly obese drunks and staff people. A monument to the local LGBT communitys low expectations and lack of imagination. I believe theyre still requiring proof of vaccination, which is just so fittingly stupid.
Not horrible, and it’s little. … and a little more grungy than I was expecting. The other reviews said it was four levels with different vibes, but they only had the one open. They said one was certain nights, one was only for Eagles games, and the other was for special events. So basically, it’s just the ground floor.Mostly all chubby guys with beards. It’s nice enough, but it needs to be cleaned and painted because it smells like a locker room or something. They couldn’t make either a Bloody Mary or White Russian.
I love this bar. Bartenders are always so nice, totally recommended.
Thank you so much for restoring the downstairs pool table! You guys are great, I’m going to come much more often, you’ve made a lot of billiardpigs© very happy by doing this! Thank you for paying attention to your patrons-
My first time here this past weekend, the bar tenders and patrons were nice to me and my partner. The downstairs is definitely an experience.
If you are looking this place up and trying to decide if this is the right bar for you please consider the following: Bike Stop is the ONLY good cruising bar (and gay neighborhoodsy bar) in Philly. Great crowds once its starts to fill up around 9/10pm-2am. The main floor and basement are where you want to be when youre cruising. The 3rd floor is cool, but its more like a sports bar (well lit and more open; like a place you would go to watch a game or chill with a group of buddies in the early evening). This is the only great bar to go to in Philly when you are looking to cruise or just have a good time surrounded by a bunch of sexy, real men. As cruisy as this bar is, it happens to be a great neighborhood bar where locals and visitors alike can escape the typical scene-attitude (cough cough! Woodys cough!). Its dark, dirty, sexy, and a good time. Also has probably the friendliest no-attitude bartenders in the whole gayborhood Just moved here recently and so glad to have found this place.
Upstairs shirtless bartender rude. Cant handle the pressure of a crowded bar? However the drink was good. Some training and some personality would be a good start.
The bikestop is a great no frills bar that does not pretend to be anything else than what it is...a great meeting place. The different options on each of the floors make it the place that it is. My partner and I come into Philadelphia about twice a year from Brooklyn ny to go to the Bike Stop.Mike G is.one of the best bar keeps around. Keep up the good work.
My only limitation is that this place is a big tease. Because of puritan local laws there isnt much allowed here. Its frustrating and thank goodness in can travel to more open places in Canada and Europe. Still, friendly crowd.
This bar is awesome u dont have to dress up or cologned out go to (Woodys for that).MEN come here to hang and socialize great staff too. 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🥳🤗
If you get the fortune of being here when Ed is bartending, youre in luck .He is the most inviting and friendly bartender Ive met in years .Ive always loved this place, and Ed is just the extra icing on the cake.
AWESOME Staff. Low drama. Neighborhood bar. Most welcome, save the cologne for your day job. Dont be a dick & youll be fine.
Very chill good vibes lots of men in various states of undress 10/10 going again
This place used to be a lot of fun and my go to bar every night but they stopped playing their video feed on the tvs but the vibe has fallen considerably
I asked a simple question of the manager the guy with the Shiva tattoo and his rudeness not once but twice was totally inappropriate I look forward to letting my friends know and bringing their money elsewhere, Ive been going here for over 20 years ..but no more..to be fair to every one else...proficient.....and friendly, ...music good...but the attitudes..totally inappropriate I will be in touch with the owners...more to come.
If you are trans or gender non-conforming do NOT come here. They may have trans flags up bur they arent welcoming. Disappointing.
The atmosphere was delightful with so many yummy things to see and drink...hehe...hello boys
The butch gay bar...dont go for the decore (there isnt any) of the food (there isnt any) but the beers are usually cold and the crowd can be fun and is really a friendly place.
I love this bar, Ive been coming here for 30 years. Robert, Carmela and Shawn are the best guys all around! - Gabriel
This is a great gay bar Id wish Id gone to sooner. Lovely and sweet bartenders.
My favorite place in Philadelphia, not pretentious just good fun.
Why no check for bags and jackets? Downstairs is supposed to be a leather bar. Whet can someone check their clothes if they change into gear?
Horrible place. The stuff is very rude, especially the guy at the door, he treated me so badly. That place needs to change the people who works in there, absolutely.
Love this Bar Went here saturday for a Philadelphians MC bar night great atomosphere friendly people
Cool vibe. Maybe not for the faint of heart. Try to attend their VICE parties... you won’t be disappointed.
Nice place for a beer and some conversation. Friendly people. Nothing special, just perfect for hanging out and getting to know the locals and Philadelphia.
I love the bike stop. I feel comfortable and at home. AJ is my favorite bartender of all time!
Great place for all the bears and queers, but also show everyone a great time. A must see in the Philadelphia area!!!!
Great place to go to finsh your night out thats what i do from Woody country night7 to 10:30 then to the BikeStop 11 to 2? Then its off to I Hop or From BikeStop to your pickup place YES
Bike Stop is my favorite bar, great people, staff, and I always have a great time
Horrible bartenders, but I guess thats not really why men go here.
Been a required stop for 30 years whenever Im in the neighborhood (and often worthy of a special road trip from Baltimore).
The staff is awesome and service is too. Clothes check is a blessing for those of us who have a tendency to loose things.
Been going here for years and have always had a great time. Keep up the good guys!
I really enjoy the beers and all, a place looks old but in really good.
Definitely a place u can meet a guy drop to your knees n go to town well i know i do
Awesome bar great staff and very good drinks and prices
Best place to be on the prowl for beer, cool vibe and great music and the crowds....Grrrrowl!
Hot and friendly bartenders. Fun place😈
Pay homage by actually visiting the place. Youll seldom find a similar place like this anywhere in the US---Im referring to the age, OK?
SO FREAKING AWESOME. EVERYONE INCLUDING STAFF AND PATRONS ARE ALL SO NICE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
Extremely dive bar, not the atmosphere for everyone
🐶👍
Cruisy and weird. Great fun!
