Mad River Manayunk

Mad River is a great place to take somebody new to the area. The menu has a wide range of options and you can sit outside. Sometimes the service can be a bit slow during busy times but the food is always great, especially for the price. The chicken sandwich (Pictured) is always a great choice, as is the burger.

Mad River is a great time with great people for $5 entry on Fridays. Awesome crowd and the bartenders are great. The drinks are quite highly priced and not strong. Thats the only thing to think about. other than this, this place is top notch

If your yuppie a$$ just got paid this Friday and doesnt mind blowing $50 on weak mixed drinks and light beer, then this is the place for you. If you have given up on your music taste in 2013 and you dont mind listening to Party Rock Anthem all night, then this is the place for you. If your personality is shallower than a day-old puddle and you dont mind sharing the dance floor with other people who dont have much going on besides work (or school) and drinking, this is the place for you. However, if you DO mind, then stay out of this place! Mad River is what happens when purgatory opens a bar. Mad River lures you in with what appear to be attractive people having fun, but as soon as you pay the cover charge, your excitement turns to ashes as you realize that you have sentenced yourself to $5 bud lights and the company of lame corporate zombies.

Terrible Staff. I went to this bar last night because my sister was in town and we wanted to try somewhere new. The bartender was very rude. As I waited for my drink to be prepared, I talked with my friends that came along. The bar was loud, I could not here the bartender and rather than coming over to grab my card he began throwing paper at straws at me to get my attention. He joked with the security guards and they all found it very funny (laughing at me) as he continued to do it if front of everyone. My sister called him out for being very rude and unprofessional. His response was to have security escort us out. I have never received such terrible customer service when going out. I cannot believe that we were treated so poorly and this will be my last time coming (not including my visit to speak with management). This place should really train their employees to be more courteous to those who are SPENDING THEIR MONEY to buy drinks at this bars. I expected decent service and did not even receive the bare minimum for my money spent (to get in, to buy drinks, and tip). DO BETTER!!!

One of my favorite places. Ive never had a bad time here! Bartenders are amazing and kind. Dont even get me started on manager Joe-- What a guy! This place is a MUST if youre in Manayunk. Id rate it 6 stars if I could!

Mad river is a great spot if you’re looking to have a great time!!! Their drink specials are unbeatable and their bartenders know how to make a good drink! The DJs play great music and it’s a great space for dancing too!! 100% would recommend going here!

A good college bar in the area. Covers are usually super cheap or free most night. Don’t go and expect something fancy because this ain’t it. But on weekend this is a great place to dance. Wing night is pretty bomb too

For a Thursday night, (no cover) got there 11:45 not too bad. Bartenders were good, space was clean including the bathroom. And the DJ Joe Broscoe kept the dance floor going. Wasnt overcrowded nice male to female ratio.

Gave it 5 stars because they didnt do anything wrong. Bouncers were fine. I am 43 and was there to celebrate my 22 year old cousins birthday. No issues letting me in. It is a club with loud music. Looking for a quiet evening with a date, not the place. Looking to dance to loud music, good place to go.

The only thing about Mad River that disappoints me is the fact that theyre closed on (some) Sundays and Mondays... I wonder if I sneak in with a blanket and pillow I could just stay over? Doubt I can sneak anything past those security guys though! Theyre on their A game, which is great because I always feel so safe when Im there. I guess what Im trying to say here is that Mad River is my safe space... my happy place. Like, you know that scene in Happy Gilmore when he goes to his happy place? Exactly like that with all those good looking bartenders prancing around me and cheerful music playing. 10/10 would recommend.

This place had no vodka. Huh?!! Ok fine! The music was popular and current but wasnt lined up well or seamless, some songs werent played long enough in order to be enjoyed. There were a couple crazy-creeps walking around the dance crowds looking like they wanted to fight. Not exciting.

Great bar for individuals in the early-mid twenties. Can be crowded and the patrons can be obnoxious (not the fault of the establishment). Bartenders sometimes slow. If you know what youre getting into its a fun place.

Mad river is definitely fun if you wanna dance the night away. Their drink also arent crazy expensive. Bathrooms could me more private but who really cares about that

Normally very crowded on Thursdays nights. Went tonight and asked bouncers how it was inside and one bouncer in particular said it was chillen and in fact it was quite the opposite. I have never seen the place so dead. There were probably more people at my local dive bar. Staff is disinguine and untrustworthy. Highly disappointed.

Want to hook up with a bunch of sloppy 21-ish college kids? This is the place for you! Crowded bars, plenty of space for people to get their grind on (and they do). Ive never had the food, nor do I want to--plus, seating is at a minimum to allow more standing room. Bouncers are aggressive and check everyones IDs, but not very thoroughly. Note that I am being generous with the age bracket... I suspect that many people arent quite old enough to get in.

We came here to dance on my fianceés birthday. The male bartender seemed to be the only one that wanted to work until it got packed and the two females had no choice but to work and get off of their phones. The djs here are pretty good compared to the competition next door.

I use to frequent this place often, but now I feel that Ive grown out of Mad River. Great times if youre into the college scene, otherwise it can be a bit much. They throw great parties and usually have a good band in the main room. The back room can get overly crowded with rowdy first-time drinkers. Beware!

Not sure busy before midnight but there are tons of drink special and the music is absolutely on point! I never stopped dancing, and really enjoy having a club in such a safe area!!

! Was there for a bachelorette party and had a blast with the people I was with but, it was So overly crowded and they actually removed all chairs and barstools to fit More people at 10 pm! Floors were very wet from everyone banging into each other and spilling drinks.

Mad River is where you go when you want a guaranteed wild weekend night. That being said, whoever runs mad Mad River doesnt really care about how it looks after an event, because they know its only going to get torn apart again with the next batch of drunk college kids who wander in there looking for a good time.Had the misfortune to walk in there after they had some sort of afternoon event and their bathrooms were ridiculously TRASHED. Dirty water and toilet paper all over the floors, which of course meant that none of the stalls had toilet paper you could actually use🤦‍♀️😂 drinks were watered down and the DJ that night was all over the place.Im getting to old to keep paying door covers for ratchet experiences 😂

Was here for a class reunion. Staff closed the open bar an hour early without announcing it and barred a classmate from entering despite his having bought a ticket because of his boots, which were decidedly fashionable and not work boots. The dress code is arbitrary and selectively enforced at the discretion of power tripping bouncers. I would not go back.

Mad river is the best! I love going there on the weekends to hang with the best bartender ever @tommie. The staff is amazing, the DJ plays great songs, and the atmosphere is so clean.

WOW! Mad River Manayunk has a special place in my heart! Not only are the drink specials, open bar packages and bartenders AMAZING... but i met my future husband here. They have a seasonal festival called River Palooza that you DO NOT want to miss. The facility is beautiful with its copper bar tops, antler chandeliers and a deck that overlooks the river. 10/10 recommend!!!!

Mad River is a great experience! The bartenders were pleasant, and one even shared his phone charger. Drinks are reasonably priced and the crowd is awesome!!

Not my favorite place on Main Street in Manayunk. Unless you enjoy careless bartenders who arent aware of the specials at their bar and loud college students drunkenly stumbling all over each other, avoid this place.We went for a trivia night. The menu clearly offered $3 Coors Lights. Still, when I cashed out, I was charged full price for my drinks. It wasnt until I showed the menu to the bartender and she checked with another bartender that they corrected my order.

Mad River is the place to be Thursday nights are my favorite! All the local college kids come and have a time of times. Sunday’s during football season is fun too especially with John Dits whipping up wingers!!

Great spot for a Saturday night..diverse crowd which I like.. theres only like 2 bartenders that are nice the rest are a little mean like they hate their job dky..and the DJs are like a 5 out of 10 only been twice tho... Id recommend it for a weekend out with friends

The bouncers here are horrible, rude, and exceedingly unprofessional. I had a drunk male friend follow me into the girls bathroom and barricade himself in my stall. A bouncer had to come in and kick him out of the bar, but proceeded to ACCUSE me of having sex in the stall! I tried to explain that the guy was really drunk and I couldnt get him out, and the bouncer not only refused to listen, but kicked ME out of the bar. Had this been a sexual assault case, this would have been a completely inappropriate way to handle a female trying to explain what happened, and could have potentially put her in a dangerous situation. The staff needs to be educated on how to handle sexual assault and male misconduct.

Always a great time at Mad River! Between Riverpaloozas, wild Thursday college nights and then they have the BEST open bar deals you can find on the weekends! 5 stars ALL DAY!

Best LIT (pronounced el-EYE-tee) in the Greater Philadelphia Area. And the bartenders never even bat an eyelash when I ask them to “make it strong.” Most accommodating staff I’ve ever had the pleasure of serving me. Fun tunes. Cold drinks. Good times.

Theres a reason why they have less than a 2.4 average rating. The bar is whack, music is whack, and the service across all level is whack. My friend was rejected from entering because he was literally wearing Timberland boots.... boots. Dont waste your time or money on this bar with power-hungery uneducated bouncers.... Morons.

There is nothing like this place in all of Manayunk. Between the great times had ever Mad River Thursday (#MRT), to the seasonal River Palooza parties held partially outside, Ive never once had a bad experience. I can’t wait for the Palooza coming up this weekend!

It was fun and a typical college bar with good DJ’s and music but the drinks were expensive for such a tiny cup....and they were extremely weak. Couldn’t even taste the alcohol in them. Seemed like a waste of money. If you come here just get trashed beforehand and don’t buy anything bc it’s not worth it

Good party atmosphere. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE EPILEPTIC SYMPTOMS. The security guards flash strobe lights randomly. Expensive drinks. Shot cost $8.80

Once you turn 21, there is no reason to go to Mad River. Its dirty and packed with under agers. They do host some benefit events which keeps them respectable on occasion. They have ok specials, but usually also have a cover.

If you go there on Thursdays The DJ on the bottom floor is utter trash one of the worst Djs Ive ever heard; however the djs on the upper floor, I believe they went by Julez-P and THRiLL, are absolutely sick. If you go to Mad river search for Julez-P and THRiLL cause I promise you a great time!!

Go there just about every other weekend.. great music whether it be a rotation of DJs or live music. They have weekend open bar specials you can’t get anywhere else

Atmosphere was great. Enjoyed drinks and games. Manager was a little uppity and reneged on promises made. Not a good experience because of management.

Uh no! Mad river manayunk is best known for blacked out college students probably who have gotten in with fake IDs. Id be surprised to know if they break fire code on the weekends as they let in way too many people. If you like boxing outside the ring mad river is the place to go. Juiced up bros and bimbos are constantly looking to pick a fight, going as far as shoulder checking or tripping anyone just because. Want a drink? Youll have to fight your way up to the bar for that as well. Steer clear.

Bartender was obnoxious and miserable as was the dj. The drinks were awful. Not sure how this place stays in business. First and last time. Will never step foot in there again & will tell everyone I know not to bother.

Stupid people go here. Nothing good about it. Management is terrible. Security needs to take a chill pill too haha they think theyre so cool with their little GEDs and what not. Hate to break it to you bro your life sucks...look at your job. Overpriced.

Gross dirty bar with an expensive cover charge that includes watered down drinks. The bathroom was disgusting and none of the doors lock. We got kicked out for no reason and no reason was given.
