If I could give a 10 star rating it would be definitely worth it. The beautifully decorated speakeasy-style underground restaurant/ pub.. its relaxing environment allows you to sink into the comfy couches provided . The chef has amazing skills. I ordered a cocktail called the herbalist, very refreshing I ordered the halibut chowder. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST EVER... 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟 the fresh basil and tarragon bring out the delightful creaminess of the broth and the chunks of halibut are endless. The New owner Oceanna, was delightful... If you are a local resident here in Port Townsend, Support your local Pub...I cant say enough good things about this place and their Food speaks for itself self...
Lovely atmosphere. Cocktails were great. I had the Spanish Harlem which has margarita vibes and my husband had the apolo which was a very smooth gin cocktail with hints of lime and sage. The poached careole eggs which were cooked perfectly. I had the barbecue sandwich. The ciabatta bread was perfectly toasted. I wish the side potatoes had seasoning.
Its really got a lot of character. Atmosphere is excellent. The food is for lack of a better term earthy without a punch. Needs some acid to elevate it. Maybe some form of sweetener or vegetables of some kind to really take the food up. Music was terrible, but I loved the open mic night approach. Guy was talented, just terribly off key. Bartender was weak with drinks, but at least they tried to truck you and make the first one good. It did taste good though. The home made tonic was decent, but nothing that great. They get credit where its due. Prices amazing compared to Tacoma it Seattle and the fight for good food is there. The highlight was the deep fried avocado. The pasta although earthy was really tasty, not overdone. The fish and chips was good in preparation and although not memorable for feeling home made, it is done really well. I may be biased against cheater food with effort put into making it. Something lacking in areas where I come from without paying a hefty price or meager portions.
Fantastic charcuterie and very nice vibes. There was a very talented live piano player playing when we were there. One complaint is the drinks. The drinks are fancy and cute but it is either too sweet or not strong enough. Definitely suggest re-working those cocktails a bit. The only one that was decent was decently consistent was the rose water cocktail.
Dimly lit, perfectly poured drinks and great service. Gets a little crowded and loud during events. But the smoking area is a good place to cool off and meet great people.Additional: the Thai Tea is PHENOMENAL, best drink Ive had to date.the Feta garlic pasta with prawns was the most filling meal Ive had in a while. Molly the chef KNOWS what shes doing when it comes to the meals here. half order was more then enough for me, would easily recommend 150%
I really love the vibe here. Its something you have to feel to experience it just is warm and welcoming. It kind of feels like an old time speak easy. But its very cool. Its lighting leaves you with a candle lit ambiance. The drinks seemed sprite and lively. Probably my favorite bar in Port Townsend. I had a couple menu items as far as food goes. But I found the chicken sandwich to be stellar. You never think. But for me it was the dinger of the night
First time here, well worth it! The food was fresh and crafted very well. Props to Chef Tiffany! The service was very attentive. The drinks were also very well crafted and presented. I took the waitress’ drink suggestion and she did not disappoint! The ambience on the back patio was perfect with a warm fire place and beautiful plants. Good company! Can’t wait to come again!
Very cool underground bar with a nostalgic prohibition feel to it. They have live music almost every day and cool custom cocktail list. They also have a nice selection of appetizers and good beer on tap. If your in the area I highly recommend checking this place out and having a drink I love the layout of this place and how it looks the ambiance is great for having a drink and relaxing.
Great local bar with nice staff! Drinks were good and they apparently have live music sometimes. The bartender played a few tunes just for kicks. Good vibe, glad we stopped in for a nightcap.
They consistently have the best music and I analysis love the atmosphere!!!The service isnt the friendliest as I have been here at least a couple dozen times and being anyone who visits me there for a musical treat, but each time I am treated as if Im some stranger putting them out by ordering a drink. Never once had anyone given me a smile like, its good to see you again.I get it, youre re busy... But a little neighborhood friendly would go a long way!The food? I was hoping to see less bar food and more authentic Prohibition Era type foods.Come on guys... You can get bar food anywhere. 😁
This place was excellent. My friend and I were looking for a place with some food and drinks, possibly some music, but we were pleasantly surprise. Walking down the steps to the basement bar, really made me feel like I was stepping down into a speakeasy of the past. Once down below, the mood and atmosphere were cool and comfortable, with a new age vibe. The decor is minimalist, but unique, and it invites you in like your old grandfathers smoking chair. My friend and I sat at the bar and ordered a couple of cocktails, some steak sandwiches and settled in for some music. The cocktails were exquisite and the steak sandwiches were exactly what we needed. We ended up staying for a while longer chatting with some new friends we made, and when the music went on, it wasn’t my favorite, but I was entertained. If you’rel looking for a cool place for some fantastic cocktails, music, food and relaxing atmosphere check this place out. It even accommodates the quieter types with a lovely lounge in the back, where you can sit and have a private conversation.Check it out, you will not be disappointed.
Really cool atmosphere! The bar is in the basement of an old brick building and they had live music playing with a five dollar cover charge at the door. They made my boyfriend and I some really good whiskey sours that came out to fifteen bucks even. Overall good time. Id recommend it
Food was great. drinks were too. vibe was completely ruined by the service. the macklemore-esque bartender didnt even bother to greet us when we came in. took way too long to ask about drinks or if we wanted food. seemed to care more about talking to his friends than about doing his job. Ive never written a review before but this experience was bad enough to make me write one. would have been a great experience and would be going back again if it wasnt for the poor service. also why was the cook bringing out the food?
The food and cocktails here at Cellar Door are very impressively made with love and kindness. We had our date night here for the first time in four months due to covid pandemic. I was blown away with the ambience of some subtle decorating changes and quality of the new cocktail list. I hope more locals will support this place to keep the good times going.
Good place for drinks and food. I ordered the Strawberry Surprise salad. It met my expectations. The salad has a tasty but smooth dressing, nuts, cheese, and of course strawberries. This salad at the Celar Door makes the top 10 of all time. I will eat here again.
It is the place I would have gravitated to when I was in my 20s. Everyone was waiting for the live music to begin. The menu was sophisticated and intriguing. I had the Gumbo - hot flavorful and spicy. The mix master at the bar is skilled in building specialty drinks.
Drinks were excellent and unique choices for their house drink menu. They had local country singers who did a great job and really enhanced the atmosphere. Bartender was friendly and answered our questions about the drinks. All 4 of us enjoyed it!
Nice ambiance and decent drinks but I was very disappointed because they had an awesome band but the music was so incredibly loud we had to leave, on the way out the door another couple was right behind us for the same reason. On top of that we had to pay a cover charge and the drinks were grossly overpriced and jigger poured. My ears are still ringing and we were only there for about 10 minutes after the music started. It was ridiculous.
Excellent cocktails, live jazz with no cover on Thursdays, usually not very many people - which can be a plus or a minus based on your needs. Kitchen has limited days and hours. Good aesthetic for absinthe or gin, maybe a little too dark for a first date.
This place is a little cozy. Found in the basement of late 19th century foundry building, the ceilings are low and its long and narrow. But the acoustics were great and staff were awesome too. Didnt have any of the food but it sure looked delicious, with choices of ultra fresh seafood.
Cellar Door is one of my favorite places in Port Townsend. The food is always top notch and worth every penny. The drinks are expertly crafted. Last night we went to the first open mic that Ive gone to in over. Years and had a grand ol time.
Such a draw, I went two nights in a row! It helped that it was just downstairs from The Palace hotel, where I stayed. Sweet bar/cocktail lounge with fun live music! I spent New Years Eve dancing to old time jazz and drinking beet juice martinis! Their cocktail menu is surely uniqe and so tastey. Loved meeting the friendly sailor and hearing about his adventures on the sea!
Really fun cocktails, constant live music, helpful staff and a very quirky seating situation. This was a favorite haunt, and we always had a great time. Try something new, a lot of the mixers and specialty spirits are made in house and theyre very excellent!
Old fashioned was a little heavy handed on the bitters, the whiskey mill is better for mixed drinks. This place overall was uninviting and slightly pretentious. The music was a good volume for conversation and there is a good outdoor area that is serviced pretty frequently.
I love Cellar Door! What a cool space to have some drinks and see a show. As a musician I can vouch for great staff and decent sound. Only one, one person restroom however so, for the fellas, I recommend peeing in the alley. Cant wait to play here again or just hang out!
I havent been again since it switched owners so I thought Id give it a try and I was happy to see a HH menu in place starting at 4, or so I thought. I arrived on a Thursday with my sister a few minutes to 4. We were happy to wait until they unlocked the door at 4. The bartender? Came and unlocked the door and told us they werent open yet, a few minutes to 4, we responded that we were happy to wait, outside, until they were open.He then proceeded to tell us that he wasnt even close to being ready to open, at this point its 3:54 or so. We said we would wait and we wanted to give it a try. He then explained that the kitchen wasnt even open until 5 and he wasnt ready to open. Seeing this going nowhere we said wed try another time to which he responded he was sorry but maybe another time. Not sure if I will. Or maybe Ill wait until 5 next time. Why say you open at 4? If your not going to?
Went in to just see whats up with it. Really cool laid back bar. Decor and mellow mood was absolutely welcomed especially with the pandemic. Great place to just hang and have a drink/beer to escape. Great service too.
Charming joint in the underground cellar off Water Street, with excellent cocktails, great bartenders and the best absinthe service Ive had. They have an eclectic schedule of music, and if youre very lucky, on occasion, there will be some world-class names sitting in on the jam. A local secret.
Some alright beers on tap and several delicious cocktails, the setting is great for live music while still drinking/talking, and they offer basic+ bar snacks at a reasonable price (pistachios, peanuts, and of course pretzels). Location is tucked away somewhat underground but still easy to find...we shall return!
The Cellar Door is a very decent bar for the area. Frequent and varied events and entertainment. Friendly staff. Normally a fun but not a party vibe. It is a little dark inside, but it is a bar.
Came here for St. Paddy’s Day dinner and it did not disappoint. The corned beef was so tender and delicious and the outdoor area was super cute and very comfortable (they have heaters!) for a chilly March evening!
My husband and I went here looking for somewhere to listen to music and enjoy some drinks. Drinks were ok, staff was very friendly, but the crowd was a little strange. That is to be expected in Port Townsend.
This place is great! It feels like your watching live music in your grandmas basement :) bartender was awesome and made a killer cocktail just by me saying I like lemon. We will absolutely return!
Best bar / venue in Port Townsend. Their wells are quality, and their custom drinks are always good. The atmosphere is amazing, and the service is excellent.
The food was excellent, drinks were so so. The worst was the waitress hovering all over our table though. We went to eat at 830, and there ended up being a band playing at 9. Just before 9, she said she was going to add the cover for the band to our 100$ dinner bill since we would be there while they were playing. Youve got to be kidding me!When we said no thank, she basically uncomfortably hovered right next to us like waiting for us to ask for the bill. She would come over every minute to clear a glass from the table for us (totally unnecessary), so she would increase her chances of us asking for the bill.Nice work waitress, you may have saved 15$ in cover charges, but you def caused this place to lose a few returning customers.
Fantastic cocktails, the best on the Peninsula, and outstanding gastro-pub fare. Brilliant live music in an atmospheric location near the old Shanghai tunnels in gorgeous downtown area.
Wow!Old fashion Lemon Drop Martini perfection! The food was AMAZING! We had a fresh salad, salmon chowder soup and a Tri Tip Steak Sandwhichs that would have made Henry VIII drool!
I will miss the Cellar Door. I loved watching my son in law Cameron play here. We have fond memories of many nights. We would go out here every time we visited from California, it is strange not going this trip.
If you want music in Port Townsend check here first. Great drinks and the ambiance is awesomely rustic. Haunted piano in back.
Loved this place. Everything we ordered tasted very good. Nice selection of food and drink. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed ourselves. Will come back next time we are in town!
Um well I came in to have the owners fab mai Thai ..she is from kona and a very experienced bartender, butThe employee ,,wow had no idea how to make one and tryed to follow a book? And when I asked him “ don’t you know how to make the owners mai Thai he said no! Wow I will not be coming back anytime soon unless she wants to hire quality employees...cause he was not.🙏🏼So disappointing..
New owner has done a fabulous reboot. I reccomend Cellar door to all of my salon clients in port townsend. Very Comfortable and chic.
The Celler is best experienced with zero preparation. As the dude does, just find yourself there and abide. It could be country, it could be punk, you dont know but odds are in your favor that the home made tonic, drinks and friendly service will make it a fun evening.
Great live music. The drink selection is great. Somewhat pricey but worth the value! We days there is no cover.
We loved it! Fantastic craft cocktails with a basement speakeasy vibe. Our bartender was friendly and welcoming.
Food was great, drinks were next level!!! Oceanna was gracious, informative and professional! Atmosphere is chill and comfortable. Go there! DO IT!!!
Dark and cozy...chatted with some lady who was performing that night (dont remember her name). She had two guitars and a cello with her. We didnt stay (had to catch the ferry, so jurys out on whether she could wail). No wifi...no summoners war
Awesome little bar unlike anything Ive seen before. The service was prompt and polite and I was very surprised by how good the food is, better than anything Ive tasted thus far on the main street above. I will be back.
Cool subterranean space in the heart of PT. Had great pierogi and a vegan Reuben. Tons of cocktails and nice selection of beer taps.
Great ambience down by the old Shanghai tunnels in historic Port Townsend! Food and drinks were VERY tasty -- every dish has a creative twist to it.
Great local venue for live music 7 days a week nice little Speakeasy type kind of feel low ceilings very cozy very friendly opens at 5 p.m.
A gem. Hip, high quality bar with actually great live music. The drinks and bartenders were incredible.
Me and Mrs D went up there from our town of Bremerton. It was worth the trip!! It’s fun, romantic and has that cool 20’s vibe... the 2020’s!!
Open mic night on mondays is awesome. Rowan Katz is an amazing host and singer/ songwriter. Come see, come share.
The Cellar Door is back in the game! Going full force in 2020. Jan 4th is a big hit. Davids Lion and Mr. Kreifels is playing. Heather Reese Photography photobooth will also be available for your personal memories for the new year. Get your free 4x6 print the same night!
Hell of a way to kick off my birthday weekend, this place was a blast. Highly recommend to make it a stop for a drink or.....alot of drinks
Music venue. Some bar snacks. Go on Monday night open mic night if u want a local flavor. Some very good musicians...some not.
Wednesdays I come up to listen people so mg karaoke and just have a good time. People are really friendly and encouraging.
Fun environment, but I wish they had more nights that didnt have a cover. Their pretzels are just a cup of cheep pretzels.
An excellent bar for hanging out, live music, cocktails, you name it. Great food too!
A great set up for live music. Decent food. Fun atmosphere.
Simply....it is ur own friendky basement affordable party that is being thrown to welcome all to enjoy responsibly & securely...it could Deja Vu u back to the good days of The American Pie Triology flavor 🏡🕭🎙🍻🍷🍸🍾🙃🍶🌜☄🌬🌛
Great bar with different areas to hang out and even a small arcade!
Not much else on a weekday at 1 am in Port Townsend. Still, they can hold their own with a city bar any day of the week.
It was a very beautiful place lots of Wood furnishings kind of dark though, but a nice smoking area out back
Amazing atmosphere! Would absolutely go back! Drinks a little spendy than other places.
Wonderful atmosphere and great live music. The staff is fast and friendly.
Awesome place to hang out at night and enjoy a beer with friends... on some nights there is live music with a $5cover.
A great place to hear live music, go on a date, have a great, well-made cocktail...
I never got the drink I ordered, service was not great, but the food was tasty and the ambience was lovely
Love the speak easy atmosphere, my favorite bartender from squim is here and hes AWSOME
Visited this restaurant on our last West Coast trip. It was great. Wish we were closer to it, we would be regulars
Great cocktails and staff perfect late night venue.
Amazing decoration, helpful and friendly staff, cant wait for live music to come back
Good atmosphere, musically is usually loud but well mixed
The bartenders dont do fruity drinks theyre more of a beer and wine establishment. Still fun.
Great space. Great vibes and good sounds for small shows
Good dancing and drinks but the DJs were a little much (give the beat a break).
Nice atmosphere and not too expensive. Nice bartenders and I never get in fights here!
The perfect place during hot weather. I got the best mojito! Fun staff

Thus us a great spot to catch live music and it feels like a real speak easy.
Stiff drinks, live music and a dark, seedy atmosphere. My kind of place!
Great space. Good music and decent staff.
Excellent music by talented local entertainer. Nice ambiance
Great drinks, great food, with not a slab of meat in sight!!!

Very cool, intimate venue and bar.
It is a hard drinking, hard music place, much as the name suggests.
Cool vibe. Good band tonight.
