I had the opportunity to try the open faced roast beef sandwich because it’s been years since I’ve had one. As expected for a Bar and Grill food establishment it was excellent. The mashed potatoes were made fresh not Instant. The roast beef was thinly sliced and I guess pre portioned, I would estimate (4-5 oz). I would’ve been more satisfied with at least 8-10 oz. ($16.50 after the military discount) They used regular thin white bread…I was expecting a Texas Sized Toast grilled (browned) with pulled apart beef rather than the thinly sliced. The gravy was okay for the potatoes and beef. My waitress Neely was very attentive and also very polite. They do honor Military discounts so that was a plus indeed. They have Pepsi products so if you’re a Coke (zero) person you might want to bring your own bottle of coke and ask for ice. They don’t have a problem with giving you free ice. The atmosphere was awesome as the room light was a dim and the country music was playing the the back ground. The sounds of folks playing pool and others enjoying the food. Overall I recommend this establishment favorably.
I had a good time! It was fun seeing all the dancing. The food was really good and the waitress was really nice. The only thing I didnt like was they raised the price of drinks $2 after 7 pm. Its not the biggest deal, but its not advertised anywhere.
Was stuck here for the weekend. Went in and watched the Eagle Eyes band and had a few drinks. The bartender she was great and kept my glass full. Band was great definitely a must see. Place was nice and clean drinks and food was amazing lots of choices. Id definitely tell you to go and enjoy the atmosphere and the great food, and staff and drinks. Thx for the great time while I was here.
One of the best live music clubs in Portland. Food at night club can be VERY questionable and $$$. But The Ponderosa serves good food at a reasonable price. My wife had a wonderful chicken Alfredo pasta with a side salad. Im very spoiled when it comes to steak, so I was apprehensive about ordering one at a road house. But I was very pleased with my Ribeye. Was it Ruths Chris? No, but it was only $34.50 and it came with two sides. Thats a good value. PRO TIP: If you like spicy, ask for jalapenos to go with your steak. The Ponderosa has a good selection of beer. The bar has a decent offering of base spirits but they use very cheap mixers. Unless youre ordering a pedestrian cocktail like a Jack & coke, best to stick to beer. The joint is open all day. You can do breakfast, lunch or dinner there. Its a top notch night club. The space is very well laid out with plenty of room and has tiered seating which makes it easy to see the band. The PA and lights are fab. Its my favorite club to see live music in Portland. Happy hour is 3-7 everyday. Ample parking. Check out my profile for more great eateries and cocktail bars.
The food was mediocre. The Sunday bartender was nice but her service was not great! She brought us the wrong beer for starters. She then brought our food with the wrong side. She replaced the side item but never asked if we wanted anything dipping sauce. We had to ask for our check and our boxes. Maybe next time will be better
🤮 This place is infested with rodents… it appeared clean and orderly however I seen a mouse scurrying about, once I notified staff, she informed me that they’re aware of the issue and the rodents were getting gutsy now. I feel like this place should have a sign stating their rodent infestation that way the public can decide if they want to go there or not! I’m wondering if it’s possible to pay the employees while the property manager or whoever’s in charge can create a healthier environment.
The food is great and the prices are good. Very friendly people great atmosphere and the hotel is also very well priced and clean. It was our first time there and we will definitely be returning soon! Their concerts are awesome also we went to See Demun Jones and he is the nicest down to earth person Ive ever met. After the concert we got to meet him and get pictures taken he also gave us hats, T-shirts and autographed them. And he spent a few hours talking with me and my wife like we had known him for ever.
We were really excited to come here. Bought VIP tickets. Took 30min to get our drinks, the waitress spilled.all of them and then took another 30min to bring them to us. We ordered nachos and 45 min later they arrived soggy and gross and they forgot the jalapeños. 4 drinks and nachos cost us $85.10 out of 10 would nit recommend. At least not on the money we spent on VIP tickets. Couldnt even really see the show either. What a joke.
Kristina is the best!!!!This place is great! I’ve never even been past noon but the environment is awesome. Big space, nice and clean. Very extensive menu. Great food. Christine is the ideal bartender! She’ll make whatever you want or even if you don’t know what you want, tell her the liquor and she’ll make it happen! She doesn’t mind muddling fruit lol. Food wise I’ve had the smoked salmon hash and the Belgian waffles. Both DELICIOUS.
My friend and I went to see Soul Vaccination last night and it was awesome! What a wonderful dance venue! The band was incredible, the food was reasonably priced and overall good. They served a nice big salad, hot baked potato, and my 8 oz New York steak was thin but cooked just right and flavorful. All in all, a great dance venue and cant wait to go back!
I just popped in to place an order to go. Was going to do that in the bar, but apparently they do a sound check for the band at 5pm on Saturdays. So, I went in to the actual restaurant. Told the hostess what I wanted to do and she sat me at a table. . . . .She didn’t bother to tell anyone I was there and finally one of the waitresses noticed me and promptly took care of me. So, next time I just won’t go at 5pm during sound check so I can get in and out quicker.
Substantial portions with the food. The drinks were good. The service was great! The atmosphere was enjoyable and the band Eagle Eyes was very good. They played all good songs and people were dancing.
For the prices the food should actually be good and the staff should be proficient. Cleanliness is also an issue. Seems normal for Portland dirty ,subpar food ,and terrible service. Im sure it helps to be drunk while you are there.
Lucky enough to get seats at the bar for Country Ladies last night. Sam, the bartender, took excellent care of me all night long, never skipped a beat—met each customer with a smile. She is worth her weight in gold for her customer service and dedication to her job. Thank you, Sam, for making my pre-Mother’s Day night special!
Its a dark bar setting and went to a concert there 7/27 got up and left after opening act due to the table next to us being so intoxicated they kept bumping into me all night long. Other then that its not terrible
Such a bummer. Thought i Purchased all 16 tickets needed for a birthday celebration. I actually only purchased 12 by mistake. When our group arrived, their staff didn’t didn’t handle the situation with care.We had just brought a huge group with reserved VIP tables. Instead the staff at the door checking IDs was unaccommodating. Not good.👎🏻
Had the best night of my life here. Everything is perfect and fun!!! Great staff. Wonderful music. Incredible dance floor. Magnificent time. Thank you!
Went last night to see the Band 5 guys named Moe!Band was amazing drinks were good and reasonably pricedService was excellent. Had the prime rib was tasty.
This place is awesome, its in Jubitz truck stop in Portland, OR. The atmosphere is amazing the bans The Revival Brothers was awesome. We did not go in to eat just to listen to the band and dance the night away
My food just wasnt good. I ordered a long island ice tea with it and there couldnt have been any alcohol in the drink because I didnt even catch a buzz and I only drink a few times a year.Fool me once, shame on you because you wont get the chance to fool me again!!
We had an absolutely delicious meal last night at the Ponderosa!! I had the steak and baked potato with a salad and two margaritas on the rocks. All of it was phenomenal! My fiancee had the mushroom swiss burger with jalapenos along with a hard cider and she loved her meal too. Its not a cheap place but definitely worth the price and our server was amazing too. This restaurant is part of a huge complex that includes three restaurants, a post office, cinema, convenience store, lounge, bar, beauty salon, and tons more to do! The bathrooms are very clean, large, and even smell great! With as cool as this place is, you really forget youre in a truck stop!! But the Ponderosa is by far the best part!!! We will definitely be back the next time were in Portland!!
Great experience, first timer although I have been at the Jubitz Truck stop several times I’ve never had the time to have a drink and grab a bite to eat at the same time. I will definitely be back in when time allows.
1st time visiting this place and had a great time. Service was friendly and prompt which is something I look for. There was a band that was very entertaining and downright awesome. Will be going back
Went to see the Moonshine Bandits. Opening acts were very good. The Bandits were AWESOME.!!! Definitely going to see them again and again.I do recommend paying for the VIP seats. Getting old SUX!!! lololo
I got kicked out because somebody gave me a shot and a bottle that was closed. I’m a truck driver. I’ve been coming here for 13 years and when she told me it was illegal I gave it to the waitress and still got kicked out but DJ or whatever the security name is, was the worst like they wouldn’t give me footage of the camera when I explained to them it was something that was given to me me, and another driver got kicked out for the same thing for a gift that both of us received From another driver the worst place if your colored I’ve been coming here for 13 years and I’ve never been experienced like I have now I will never get loads to Oregon again if I do, I will go to Troutdale TA
Kristin is amazing, she aims to please and shes very efficient! Ive never seen a bartender work so fast and manage to acknowledge every customer with a smile and a kind word or two.The food was great! I had Spaghetti and meatballs with steamed broccoli on the side, the broccoli was a great choice! If I could give this place 10 🌟 I would!
We go 1-2 times a week. A great place for cornhole. The server is topnotch, and they have a decent happy hour menu.
5 stars for customer service , bartenders really earn their tips there. Food and drinks were excellent. Nice venue, a lot of space and good size floor. One star down for a Nashville band. It was ok , good sound , however it would be helpful is they diluted their honkey-tonkey tunes with contemporary country music. You can only listen to eeeehaaaah songs for so long, it gets annoying and boring after a while . We left early because of that.
I was visiting family and had gone out with my nephews. We started at a different bar earlier in the night and left once we were done .Towards end of night we were looking for place to play slots. This was on way to the house, so we stopped in. We were expecting it to be crowded, but it was scarce at the bar area. The slots on the other hand was very busy, no slots open.Went to bar to get drinks as we waited. Bartender was very nice and served our drinks in a timely manner. As we waited for slot machines to open, I took a walk to the gas station convenient store part of the building. I liked how it was connected to different storefronts without having to walk outside. Maybe it was designed this way because the hotel is connected to building. Made nice walk so didnt have to deal with the cold weather outside. Wanted a snack and got some snickers.Returned to Ponderosa and by that time slot machines were open.Nice place for gaming if you are into slot playing. Its nice you can have a meal and drink there as you take a break from playing. Full bar so you can get drinks as you play.Do recommend trying it out for a meal. I personally did not order the food. It looked good scolling through the menu.
Went there to watch a local band play. Large spacious parking lot with security. Clean bathrooms. Decent place.
Food was good, full order of nachos was overpriced but good. Watched the superbowl and it was surprisingly dead but still a good time. Had a giveaway with a free raffle tickets just for showing up. They gave away a tv, golf bag and a couple other items. Michelle was our server and was amazing. So friendly, made sure we were taken care of and had a smile the whole time even though I know her feet had to have been killing her from all the running around she was doing. Good experience overall
Great food if you can get a server to notice you. The only way you can get service is by sitting at the bar.
Just waited 1/2 hour and didn’t even get coffee or water! Only two waitresses for the place and lots of waiting customers! No table clearing either! I left!
Food and beverages are overpriced. Heather was helpful. But the rest of the staff seemed annoyed.
The food was very good and there was plenty of it to fill you up. They only one person tending bar and she was also waiting tables, but everyone was getting served very quickly.
Lets start off with how awesome and amazing Christina is !!!! Um the young lady that just had a birthday the other day name i dont recall, but service was great. Also i remember names by movies lol. Names Im not super good with but faces more so!! Love the service at the bar for sure
Good for shows, esp rock and country. Line dancing if that’s your thing. Decent food, good bar and lots of seating.
Wow what a surprise, I was thinking Truck stop, this is going to suck. and how was I wrong, we had a great time, it was not creepy, the lounge was quiet nice, drinks are reasonable priced, the Hotel was over priced for what it was, but convent, #Epick50 #livenation #50concerts #50states #50artist #50Months
Update 8/5/22:We went to see The Fifth Alarm Band, they were absolutely fantastic!!! If you havent heard of them or seen them, you should check them out on Facebook and then go see them! The sound system has been adjusted since my last review. THANK YOU so much to the management!! The music was at a perfect level to enjoy the music and to have a conversation without shouting, biggest bonus no ear ringing headache afterwards 🎉🎉🎉Our server was working her butt off; she took care of everyone and did a fabulous job, no complaints at all!!Food is still great great; I definitely recommend the nachos, the ribeye, the prime rib and the quesadillas, all were flavorful and cooked perfectly. All in all our whole group had a great time and we are looking forward to the next time!Pros:Service and servers were great.Food was greatDrinks were a little weak but not terrible. The cost of the food and drinks was extremely reasonable!Cons:The music was way too loud.- No one could have any type of conversation with peoplenot even with the servers.- The bass was even louder than the music and vibrated our internal organs so badly that we left early to get away from it.
Called in for a chicken fried steak to go. Told my order would be ready in 10 minutes go to the ponderosa lounge to pick up. Was going to get a drink while waiting. Sat at the bar. Watch three different bartender ladies look at me turn around. A simple smile and will be with you in a minute goes a long way. Instead I seen my order come in. Paid for my food. They lost out on me buying a few drinks and a tip.
Very welcoming, good happy hour, nice atmosphere - a little bit of country at the edge of Portland. Highly recommend weekly free line dancing classes!
Had burger and onion rings. Both cooked perfectly. Great service from bartender. Had a Tsunami Stout. Excellent flavor. Will return
The Pondo as it is affectionately called, is the new generation of truck stop bars. Boasting a great renovation, the venue for up and coming country stars is the place to be. The wait staff are fantastic and are great with witty banter keeping the truck driver crowd entertained and on their toes. The Prime Rib is something to look forward to when head there as well as their insanely huge nachos. Highly recommend if you are in the area and need to reset your 36 hour eLog clock.
Went to go see a band play. Got there around 10 pm not knowing they were playing their last song. The lady taking the $15 cover charge for the show took my friends money and was rude. we got in and the show was over. She new it was over and still charged us to get in for one song. Probably wont be going to Ponderosa again for a show. Maybe just on a regular night. Was ridiculous.
Came here for my aunts birthday. Food was pretty good and tasty, then we tried to line dance. Turns out it was an intermediate class- so my family and I looked like fools but was a good time. Also saw a woman in the parking lot with a legit baton so that was dope too.
Good food. Good service. Great company. My waitress was covering a Lot of tables, so sometimes things took a minute. But hey. Its a place to sit down and have a good time. They were playing a corn hole tournament at the time and a regular named Lenny was kind enough to try and explain the game to me. I think I got most of it? Come on down to this friendly community establishment for some food, some drinks if youre a mind to. Maybe even try your hand at corn hole. Dont know in just anyone can play or not, it was League night when I was there. But doesnt hurt to ask.Take care yall.
Stopped here like 8 years ago... service and attitude was piss poor to be nice..Friend said its changed give it another try..Ok.. walked into the bar, it looked ok. Stood at the bar 4 a few lady said Ill b with u soon.... standing waiting standing wait.. finally said F this place after 15 minutes and walked out.. never again..If you like snotty people and being ignored and poor service.. stop on by u wont be disappointed.
We went and saw Ants in the kitchen. Sat in the VIP section. The waitress was very sweet and check in with all the time to see if we needed anything. The music was great. Had a great time!
Good dance floor, minimal door charge but, did have a live band. They had free dance lessons before 8pm.Drinks are crazy spendy, jack n coke ($9)!! Then it comes in a 6-8oz glass. Beer is better bang for your buck. There is a definite regulars crowd here but, for the most part... They are friendly. This is a bar aside a truck stop. If you want country, this is good but a hit and miss with the music.
Well I finally found something worth eating there. The zesty taco salad is pretty decent. Dont waste your time on the mac and cheese
The staff is very friendly and attentive. There is plenty of seating, and the dance floor is a good size.
Tickets to watch local bands were expensive. (15.00-25.00). They only take cash at the door so we had to go in and buy tickets with our debit and then go back out to be allowed to stay! The drinks were week and ridiculously expensive. I believe it was 12.50 for a standard vodka cran. Food was bad and insanely high priced. It was 15.00 for 3 small chicken taquitos. I have zero intentions of going there again. Greed at its worst.
Great place to enjoy a game of pool and a drink, listen to some music. Band nights are affordable. Usually pay at the door, so if you’re budgeting your fun and tips, make sure you ask , or you might find an extra $20 surcharge on your bill. Waiters are awesome here, most of the time. LOL
Great place to go let lose and watch bands play. Friendly staff.
Really nice country music bar thats part of the Jubitz truck stop. Newly remodeled, dont know what it looked like before, but its beautiful in there now.Cover charge: $7 or you can pay $15 for garauntee table or bar stool in the VIP lounge with more attentive waitstaff (I was told) also if you have a CDL endorsement cover is only $5.I took general admission and just walked up to the bar to order my drink. $6.50 Jack and Coke, short. It was a generous pour, but not so much as to kill me. There were no available seats on the dancing side, but there was on the games side. I chose to stand for a while, since I was interested in the band. Only was about 10 minutes before a bar still opened up, so not too bad. They have video poker and pool tables on the far end of the lounge with a little more lighting. You could play and visit with friends but still have the music.Large dance floor with a stage for the live music they host every weekend. I also heard they do line dancing lessons at 7, I will probably try to go for that at some point, but its so early.Great place to hang if you enjoy country music.
5 people in bar but it was a Wednesday. Music WAS NOT country, sucked.
Stopped in for the first time a couple days ago on my way back to Texas. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great music. My waitress, Ryan, was very professional and had a great personality that made me feel welcome! Thanks Ryan!! You rock!!I had a blast!! See yall next time!
Tiny dance floor compared to other places. Food and drinks are expensive. Food starting at about $15.50, dessert $8.99 (+4 if you want to add ice cream), drinks are about $11.50. Servers seem to cater to those who are regulars or are male. The show was great though and thats really what I was there for anyway. We saw The Reflex.
Deeelicious! And cold Beer at a truckstop with a adorable bartender. Hard to beat.
Great staff, great food, and the musical talent that comes by is outstanding
Some dude in the cafeteria kept playing his cell phone loudly. When I complained to the waitress, she insisted that I tell him to turn it down because she was instructed not to do such. After I did, TWO security geniuses surrounded me, behind my back while sitting. Once they were informed that I did nothing, they told the cell phone aficionado to turn down his phone. As soon as they left (quickly), the guy turned his cell phone back up.Certainly, this quality of employees work in the back making your expensive food. This is the same place that threw out Canadian truck drivers who spoke their minds during the pandemic.
Had chicken fried steak, eggs, hashbrowns, and biscuits and gravy. The CFS was like rubber, 3 bites into my B and G I saw a red blob that looked like blood, I didnt even eat half the meal. The waitress never once asked how it was or how I was doing, then slipped me the check for $35. Never eat breakfast there again, if I ever eat there again at all.
Bartender was great but thats were good services ended. Tuesday special was stroganoff and it was terrible. No one cared and the meat was shoe leather. No soup served with special that was included.Hundred dollar tab.It will be a long will before I return.
Always a cold brew and great conversation, really good stop.
Fun place for live music! They were short staffed on servers but our server still did a great job for us.
Took my friends and clients to go see Hit Machine on Saturday. To be honest, I have not been here since I was younger when it was a dive country bar at a truck stop. Now the place is full of pizazz with live bands, country line dancing opportunities and more. The staff, on a very busy night like last Saturday, was on point and did not miss a beat!
We ordered the prime rib dip special, and a bowl of the baked potato soup. It was very good. The bartender was excellent. Great lunch!
The pretty brown haired daytime bartender was so welcoming, she made me a super yummy boozy iced coffee! The only downside was no one ever came by the poker area to ask if I wanted another drink or two wake up the woman that just walked straight in and sat at the poker machine, she was so high she kept nodding off then finally falling asleep for a few , it was really gross, and with all the dangers of those types and fentanyl, they should be asked to leave and the machines wipes down. I probably would not go back.
Great place for lots of different types of bands period always a good time
This was my first time eating at Ponderosa Lounge & Grill. We ate the Monday special cheeseburger and fries. Simple, flavourful, satisfying, and priced accordingly.I plan on going back to experience some of their live entertainment. I can only imagine the atmosphere!
I want to give a shout out to Jenny. We, the friends and family of CBD, were up in the VIP section March 25. We added to the chaos of the night, but Jenny, our hostess, remained very kind, funny and attentive. We received excellent service and the food was great. Thank you Jenny and staff.
Not a friendly place for me anyway, I feel like the ladies who keep the bar are rude and stuck up, so for me it wasnt a pleasant relaxing atmosphere that Im looking for, I do still get fuel there sometimes lol.
What a great change of pace! Country line dancing, bands, Texas Hold ‘em on Saturday mornings. This place is legit with great food, and a really great selection of drafts and cocktails. The bartenders are a huge plus and the only thing i’d say is that it gets a lil’ pricey 💲
First time Ive been the early 90s.People were friendly, and the waitress who helped me, was informative!Though I just went in to get a gift, (for other patrons), I may be going back with my honey!
Great bartenders great service, great drinks, great music, great crowd!! So much fun!! 10/10 would recommend!!! If you can’t dance.. make a fool out of yourself! No one will judge you! Had a great birthday here with 0 drama, and 100s of new memories!
Enjoyed our dinner. I had the taco salad, and the wife had a marinated chicken breast. The food is great prices competitive enjoy the lounge its layout and acoustics. We will be coming back
Its ok the shows are nice
First time fun. From Audrey at the door, to Michele serving food and drinks, through band 5 Guys Named Moe, it was a great night. Layout and acoustics are excellent, and dance floor is perfect. We’ll def return.
The prices have raised ALOTmy problem was the added prices unknown until the bill cameGet tots instead of fries add $2.50 and now charge extra .50 for ranchPrices are too high for food
Always good to see the beautiful sights here in Portland
My family and friends have spent many evenings at the Ponderosa dancing and making memories. Because of those memories we decided to have a celebration of life there for my brother-in-law. Through such a difficult event the managers and the staff did an absolute incredible job. The food was catered and our server craig made it a five star experience. I can’t believe how many people commented on how great the food was. Both of the managers made sure everything was perfect and the lounge staff was amazing. We hired Pure County band to play and I would highly recommend them.
Solid place to eat. Wish wed have been there a night they had music.
Okay...Its in a giant truck stop and a little out of the way, but a great night spot for some drinks and live music mostly with a Country flair. Friendly, quick service, good food, 20+ beers on tap. The adjacent hotel, while nothing fancy, was clean and budget priced.
Its still OK...however...ot use to be A LOT better...ALL THECWAY ROUND...
I thought this was a country bar?! We went on New Year’s Eve dressed in our best country wear thinking we could dance and listen to country music but we were mistaken. We left the bar after listening over an hour and only 1 country song. What a waste of $400 we paid for our table. The band was good just didn’t play country which didn’t make any sense given they had a best dressed country contest that night?! Why dress country but not have a country band playing?! Super disappointing.
Overpriced and nothing specialTheir Cajun shrimp pasta is basically glorified and overpriced mac and cheese.Next day I had chicken Alfredo pasta, again nothig to write home about. Today Im trying their nearly $20 burger but Im not expecting much. Ripping off truck drivers at its best.
Spent 275$ on drinks next day found a 50$ tip I did not add called to resolve got disrespected and hung up on....
Very cool atmosphere and friendly staff but the drink prices are unbelievably high. you should definitely ask what something costs before you order it.
I love linedance to COUNTRY music. Its about 1/3 country and 2/3 hip hop but tonight being St Pattys Day the Thurs night lesson was packed. I Sat with my friends and we were served right away as we were early HOWEVER, my food did not come with napkins, my drink had no straw, and we all ordered the special Irish Whiskey. We never saw our server again. 5:30 to 9:30. There were 3 servers for 200 people I could have easily gotten up from my table without paying. The servers are sweet but I think they could use at least 2 more on Thursdays. Also, training? I have had this position in my lifetime. Just keep your own tables, dont flit around the whole bar.
We love the bartenders. We love the special drinks they make for us. The food is amazing. We come back as much as possible. Were truck drivers and its the best truck stop around.
Came in on open night mic. He was by himself but kept up thoroughly entertained. The food was decent st best for the price. Our waitress was on her 4th day and it doing a great job. My steak was slightly overcooked (ordered med-rare, got medium) but still good. My wife had the open face roast beef which didn’t taste right at all so went un-ate. The jovial company around us is what we enjoyed best and will return.
Cool atmosphere. Steak bites were awesome. Drinks were strong. They accommodated our large group. Server was fantastic and very attentive. Will definitely be back. 👍
The food was delicious and very speedy. The service was excellent. The waitress behind the bar was on it. Great atmosphere! It was so close to a 5 star, which is very hard to obtain. It was a little pricey, but I guess thats what you can expect these days.
Best country bar in Portland! Food is great, drinks are strong, dancing is good and you can get right up next to the performers.
We had a class reunion there. Very very fast and friendly service. Great entertainment and food. Will be coming back again.
This is a truck stop on steroids. The bar is huge. The food is much better than you would expect of a truck stop, and fairly cheap. Service is exceptional...cute waitress knew our names, drinks, and who was driving before we got our coats off. Live music at times which was good. Fun place...and you dont need to drive a truck....most of the customers dont.
We love it here. The food is always hot and not too greasy. The servers are always friendly with a smile behind their mask. Food comes out quick and drinks are reasonably priced. Bathrooms are spotless. Everyone respects the mask laws here.
Food was good, service was a little slow considering they werent busy, but overall good place.
The bar service & food is excellent! They have local bands every night of the week with TV & casino machines everywhere for your entertainment. As a cdl holder, I hate the fact that truckers are charged at the door on Saturday especially being part of a truck stop.
Well served, good food, great drinks, Occasional great music.. What more could you ask for?
Fun place with attentive staff. Live music often. If dancing and socializing with a diverse crowd, inside a large venue with inexpensive drinks and good food is your thing, you will love this place. I always have fun because I enjoy Country Dancing and Happy People. Easy access to this restaurant on many hwys, roads, and its close to Interstate 5. Hotel, gas station, convenience store all attached. Large venue with lots of parking.
My wife and I stumbled in to this bar after I had to get finger printed for my hasmat update. What a wonderful surprise!!! We had a great breakfast and a good Bloody Mary! The food was great!! The prices were in line with the quality!! Especially compared to where we live in Central Oregon. Good job!! We will be back!! THANKS
Service was OK, food was poor. The mashed potatoes tasted like they had been prepared the previous day, tasted like the smell of ramen noodles which is a dead giveaway. IMy typical meal at home would be better and I am not a great cook. Nice environment,.
My friend bought VIP seating of four. As we sat down a large group of females came over and stood, dancing and continuely stepped on our feet. Mind you we moved our table almost to the edge of the stair. Inconsiderable row of chairs facing the stage. Never once said they were sorry for all they were doing. It felt as if they were the only ones there. Finally I asked if the tables closest to the stage were paid for she told us Nope! Those are all yours! Great so we paid money to be stepped on, purse knocked off table, etc. We moved and enjoyed watching the band for the last hour of the show. I will no longer buy tickets ahead of time. I will take the chance at the door.Band Playing the Saturday night we attended was amazing. Kept the crowd dancing and having a blast. Thank you for my friends birthday weekend enjoyable.
I really wanted to give a one star. Went to the restaurant and sat 5 minutes and still no one even offered a menu or water. Left and went to the bar side and Missy was amazing. Great service, great attitude, and just everything a person could ask for when dining or drinking. Won’t waste my time going over to the restaurant side.
This place is awesome! However, the Green Room needs a private back entrance, or at least black screen from the door to it.... maybe a restroom. Big oversight. But awesome place!
Fresh local new old-school vibe. I was here for the battle of the bands. Our server was definitely great and we had an instant report. The remodeled facility was clean and expansive. A very clear western cowboy trucker group. Friendly people and competent bar staff as well as tall boy carrying characters. Also a well established dance hall with plenty of swing and two stepping.I really enjoyed it.
I’ve previously been there for two concerts. My experience was average, nothing to write home about. Probably a solid 3 stars. Service was so-so and drinks were expensive. The new remodel looks great except they took a good size dance floor and made it super small. Cover is expensive and starts way too early. Recently their GM made a very unprofessional and tacky post celebrating the closure of another, much more prominent country bar. That did it for me. The lack of class and empathy demonstrated by management will ensure I do not revisit Ponderosa. I’ll stick to Lucky’s if I need a good country hangout, or Bushwhackers when I need to dance.
Wonderful place to visit, been here multiple times and never dissatisfied! Food is always served super fast, and never unhappy about any of the items Ive tried. The waitresses and bartenders are amazing! Super super friendly and always laughing. As a truck driver its wonderful to feel so welcomed and feel like Im at home, the wonderful ladies here make that happen with ease! Food/drinks are a little spendy, but it is a truck stop in Portland so its to be expected. If you get the chance stop in and give it s try!
Went to this “Truck Stop” bar to watch an NFL playoff game and waitress refused to turn volume on for TV. Also witnessed 2 chairs being occupied by 2 separate lap dogs at the bar.. These were “pets” not service animals ..Was rudely told that this was a country and not a sports.. I wonder if the Seachickens were playing in this playoff game would the outcome be different. So are dogs allowed to drink at the bar these days in Portland ?
Ones up on the time it’s was great restaurant, now it is bBeyond recognition!!!! This place is terribly bad!!! I ordered ribeye steak. With mashed potatoes, potatoes tasted like it had some sort of chemicals in it. And the steak itself did not even look like a ribeye steak it looked white pale like it was made in a lab not grew on a cow. I would not recommend anyone to visit this place anymore if you want to blow 30 bucks go ahead but food is pretty terrible
We love the dark (when I say dark, Im referring to sexy lighting)lounge and atmosphere! We have always had great service even on busy nights. Breakfast 24/7 in the Restaurant connected to the lounge. Its a great little truck stop!
18.00-22.00 for a burger is a bit much. Also, when my Fiancee and I ate here the spaghetti was beyond description in a family-safe way. Suffice it to say convicts are fed better, the sauce was so old and it tasted BURNED as well.Do yourself a solid and eat whatever is in your truck. Your wallet and your insides will thank you.
Had a good time. Live music, friendly bar staff, and good food. Prices are reasonable and Happy Hour everyday from 3-7 PM. Full bar and plenty of draft and bottle beer to choose from. Dancing!
Really good food and drinks and the prices are good as well.A little slow at getting to the drink order but its worth the wait. Its a nice place to hang out while waiting at the truck stop for the following day to start.
Great Band lots of fun & 1 bad azz mix drink served by an awesome hostess Amanda (i think is her name) lot of great dancing. YOU Must go even if your from TEXAS LIKE ME!!!
I was stuck in traffic and hungry, so I went to Jubitz Truck Stop where the Ponderosa Lounge is: the food was good, the beer - cold, and the service was helpful. Just remember its a truck stop.
I drive a semi and used to always stay at the T/A and after my truck broke down and had to go in the shop Ive never been here before. Im glad that it did because I probably wouldnt have came in. I have came in 4 nights in a row and Im not disappointed the service and food is top notch in my book. Morgan H and Lindsay was absolutely amazing and i wont be waited on by anyone else. I am already looking forward towards my next visit.
I stopped in on 11/11 after the roughest day i can remember having and Lacey really brightened up my day with her great attitude and friendly service, and the girl really knows her drinks!! Made a bad day a million times better!
We had so much fun! Awesome bartenders.
The food was spot on, I was surprised to find out that there was evening show, Unplugged, with guest artist Daryl Dasher. Awesome evening spent at the Ponderosa! My 2nd visit here after 5 years and Im leaving again with great memories. Thanks Ponderosa!
Welcoming atmosphere with lots and lots of fun great DJ wonderful instructor food I did not no have so can not tell you much on that. Thursday night is free to learn and Friday is fun fun
Food is good but pricey. Service needs some serious attention. Pleasant atmosphere, great bands and the free dance lessons are worth attending. Make sure if you dont get there in time for the steep cover ($7.00) say hello to the hostess Ms Aubrey she makes the whole place worthwhile with her welcoming smile!
This was our second time at Pondo. First time a year ago was a 5 star. This time the cocktails were a huge disappointment as there was very little alcohol in them. Left as sober as we went in.
We stopped in here after our first bar closed early. We loved the interior look and heard they recently renovated. The live band was good , but the DJ was spectacular. Super friendly and even danced with my friend as we were the only two left dancing haha. Thanks for a quick, good night! :)
Great food, amazing service, and most definitely a family atmosphere thank you😃
This is a cute place and the live music is a bonus. Definitely great for date night and getting some country dancing in. There is a dining area but I stayed in the dance floor area so cant comment. Definitely a fun, energized atmosphere that will leave your ears ringing and your legs tired!
The dancing was just like it should be! Everyone was having a great time! The service was a little slow at first, but that changed quickly. 5 Guys Named Moe was an awesome band. My girlfriend says it was one of the best dates ever! Going back soon to learn some line dancing!
If you like to dance and you love traditional country music this is your place. the band is awesome. 4 to 8:00 every Sunday. You do need a negative covert test or a vaccine card to get in
Sarah is one of the best waitstaff I have ever encountered. An absolute gem. Good food. Good beers. Good atmosphere. Parking. What more could anyone want?
Update review:this place is great!I mean Tony the tiger great!!!!!great food, great people, great place.still covid mask required.all good.check website for events.👍👍👍👍Nice place to enjoy a beer and a full bar menu. Its mostly country folk but before any event.... its ambience is like a regular sports bar.Staff members are great.I really enjoy their service and food.As far as the events go....I was charged a cover for a two band concert.I got a cdl discount as well. Its not a good venue for loud bands.I can see why they host lots of country bands. The acoustics to the entire building didnt help the 2nd band. The lead singer was just way to loud.I figured the sound and lighting booth would bring her down....Never did.It wasnt the band nor the lead singers fault. That guy should of recognized how loud she was.I walked in to use the restroom and can hear the difference.Next day I was told after I left, people began to leave. It was an..... outside performance but done inside. All and all it was great to see both bands play.I hope both bands continue to rock on!Small dives with live music are the best!!P.s.That sound guy needs a hearing test done.I couldnt believe he never adjusted her mic.If he thought that was good enough....I would ask for a 2nd set of ears!Hopefully, this is helpful for all parties involved.
Surprised! Walked in on Sunday evening to find a country western band playing and a fairly large crowd dancing. It was pretty early, around 5 at the time and the band wrapped up early at around 9. After that the place cleared out pretty quickly . The food was pretty good and the prices pretty normal.
The nicest country bar I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to plenty around the country, mainly in Texas. They bring in some great local talent and bigger acts from time to time. My favorite part is that they don’t pack the venue full like we’re a bunch of sardines. Even for the sold out Ashley McBryde show, we didn’t have to fight crowds or lines.
If the blonde bartender is working, turn around and leave. Unless you enjoy terrible service. If any other bartender is working. All good.
Overall I love this place the food is generally great. Staff is always friendly and do the best they can.The establishment is kept very clean. I truly have no complaints
Half order of nachos is huge and fairly good. Mac and cheese is tasty after picking out the super dry, diced ham. Tomatoes on salad not ripe this time. Servers consistently slow but friendly.**Edit after owner replied...why you calling me Adam? I mentioned room for improvement but your reply doesnt recognize that at all.**
Amazing show! Amazing service! Bartender was definitely busy but was super friendly and patient! The crowd was outta control....but what can I say thats to be expected when a amazing artist comes to a sold out (smallish) venue.
Ill give 4 stars for the eats. Ill Only give 1 star for what they allow to happen to truckers that they dont know... Its still a great place if you dont have hand(knuckle) ink... The local inferior FEELING perhaps identifying men, well, theyd be looking in a safe space.... Im from TEXAS, and Im American, we back down from no one...
Went for a holiday party. There was a dance floor and lots of seating both high and low. The atmosphere is fun. The food is not good, comparable to slightly better than a hospital. The drinks tasted as if there was hardly an alcohol
Kristina C. is the BEST bartender!! She treats truck drivers with so much respect and appreciation, we will DEFINITELY stop every time were in Portland 😁😁
Restaurant was well lit for a sports bar. Quality music and a server dressed to kill with an attitude to match.I ordered a Ribeye medium rare with some fries. Steak came out medium, but the waitress fixed it.Overall, will be back to try again.
Great service, great bartenders! Appreciated the, sincere how are you when coming into establishment. Beverly, Sarah, Randi are great bartenders! The food is great! Love the way they appreciate and treat us truckers!
A great place all around!! Rooms are clean, but small and made for a quick stay, good bed and comfy recliner in the room.... its a truck stop and it feels that way in a good way!!! Great food and the concert was excellent!! Got exactly what we were expecting all around!
Very nice bar to go to. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff is very professional. The tables are always kept clean and the selection of drinks is very good as well. Ive never been to one of their live shows but I know people that have and they have said that it was an excellent experience.
Awesome place. The look of it after the remodel is amazing. Plenty of TVs for watching sports during the day. The VIP area is big and set up perfectly. Very nice restrooms and the food is great as it always has been.
Service was absolutely terrible. I entered the temporary lounge while the real bar was being remodeled. My waitress was very offensive right away. Demanded IDs from my girlfriend who was drinking a water. Then proceeded to tell me I could head to the other bar at the truck stop as she was closing in 20 minutes and mentioned they were closing even though they are 24/7. Very disrespectful and even interrupted my order with the waiter from cascade grill to basically tell me how terrible of a customer I was. Once again. Very disrespectful and wish I could speak to management to correct this problem.. Dont hire bartenders who cant handle working till bar close. She even mentioned she needs a double shot after this. Very disappointed with the service.
Such a wonderful stop. Amazing food, I love the Smoked Salmon Hash and a blueberry Moscow mule.... its worth a stop no matter whether you do for a quick bite or spend the night
Pool tables are very nice, dance floor decent sized and bathrooms are clean. Unfortunately, we went over a holiday “weekend” and the live music cover didn’t seem justifiable since the crowd was 40 years older than us and barely a few couples dancing. Many empty tables didn’t lead us to believe this place ever fills up. Drinks were just ok.
Looks like it had nice food but the waitress never came to me. Served every one around me. Looked right at me I went to say something she just turned round. Gave it ten mins then left!!
First time here and it was a great place for a concert. I like the fact that they dont oversell the events. Theres room to move around and the lines arent out of control for the bar. Acoustics are great too!
Out of the way country bar with upscale, delicious food, line dancing, and a very nice bar with an upper VIP section.
Its pretty nice, and lots of room. Live bands often plenty of parking. Good atmosphere. Check it out. Pretty sure youll like it.
Had a great first experience here last night. Drinks were fast and crowd was super chill. I will definitely be coming back!
Cool place for music venues. Love that its next door to the hotel as well
The club its self and the music performance was great. We paid 35 for the BarVIP area. Service was slow but the gal was nice. We ordered dinner and it was horrible. We decided we liked the place but would never eat there again. Drinks were OK
Expensive. Expect to spend $25.00+. Spent $19.50 for a burger and fries with water. Then $5 tip. Good service but it wasnt at all busy. Food was good but not worth what we spent. Lots of parking available for trucks.
Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was good size portions and was full of flavor. Would be sure to eat there again. Highly recommend. Prices I felt were very fair.
One would think you would get decent, real food for the price you pay. Nope. Ordered the hot roast beef sandwich. Obviously have same supplier as Arbys, only worse. Old leather cardboard. Gravy, canned and way too salty.Next time Im with my trucker Ill keep with the breakfast. They cant mess that up too bad, can they? The servers were nice, friendly, even bantered with my crazy trucker.
Went during the afternoon lull, the steak bites were delicious and drinks ok. The service was slow for the amount of business. It could have been due to a shift change but we decided to not order a second round of drinks due to how long it took to get the first.
Didnt like the no reentry policy. VIP WAS GR8 for full menu. Floor table limited bar food menu.
Great venue to see a live band. Its the perfect size to get up close and personal with a band. Nice and intimate! Great place for learning how to line dance too.
