I was shocked to see Ava Towne Bishop still teaching. She was my teacher in the 80s/90s.She was absolutely horrible and abusive. She was always screaming and hit me on 2 occasions. She slapped my arm so hard during turns and left a mark.My Dad confronted her and we quit that day. Debbie was a wonderful teacher but stay away from Ava she shouldnt be anywhere near kids plus the fact that she is not even an experienced dancer. She would always scream at the girls who were strong dancers and had solid technique, something she never had. Just an awful teacher.

EXCELLENT dance classes! I grew up dancing for the San Diego Civic Dance Arts in the 80s. Now my daughter is going on her 5th year dancing. I love all the teachers and performances are amazing. To top it off the price is so affordable Im able to put my daughter in 3 classes.

Civic Dance Arts was the ONLY place I could find where, at 46, I could take beginning tap with other adults. Cost per class is less than a Carmelatto Frappuccino at S-bucks; the teachers are incredibly good; and they teach at about 20 rec centers all over the city. I’m now 75 and am still welcome in my tap & jazz classes in Balboa Park. Try one class for free.....what do you have to lose? (I know this sounds like a “paid advertisement” but every word is true!)

Im 13 years old. I danced here for nine years and this year I was bullied and really mistreated by a teacher. I reported her for doing this to me. My Family was attacked my a man when my mom told and they lied to everyone about what happened to me so nobody would know the truth. I want everyone to know what happened so other kids speak up and don’t have to go through the same thing.
