Great bar but the only let down is customer service if that bothers you at all. A very busy bar with passive aggressive service including a bit of proudness if that’s your cup of tea .The bar could achieve 5 stars but the staff and toilets let down this place for more potential. The washroom is shared with a urinal and toilet in the same room, again if that’s your cup of tea then this might be a place for you to hog.Being a visitor to San Diego this bar seems very well established with locals so it very difficult to mingle with the locals.The drinks from the taps don’t taste too good more likely that there is a maintenance issue with pipe cleaning. The soft drinks tastes unusual including the beer. I was offered an alternative to red bull and that tasted off. I went to order a third drink Big Wave and that also did not taste the same as the one I had at the Pizza Shop in the main gay village. Recently, I had a rather unpleasant experience at Pecs Bar that left me feeling completely unsafe and my life put in danger. I understand that occasional disagreements can happen in any social setting, but the recent fight that broke out at this bar was extremely disturbing.The incident occurred on Sunday during my visit to the establishment. What started as a minor argument escalated quickly into a full-blown physical altercation, involving multiple individuals, including myself being attacked. The lack of intervention from the bar staff was concerning, as it seemed they were either unaware or indifferent to the situation unfolding before their eyes. This led to a prolonged and chaotic scene that left many patrons, including myself, feeling genuinely frightened for our safety. After speaking with security, it was brought to my attention that this same group has caused fights before at this particular bar. Knowing this information from security, I felt even more unsafe knowing they allowed this group to return.As someone who enjoys socializing and unwinding at bars in my hometown, it is essential for me to feel secure and protected in such environments. Unfortunately, this recent experience has shattered any trust I had in the establishments ability to maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere.In light of my unsettling encounter, I regretfully will not be returning to Pecs Bar and will be navigating certain legal avenues to make sure this never happens again.

Wonderful local gay bar with friendly staff and great service!

I just arrived to San Diego, 2 days ago. I was pleasantly invited to Pecs neighborhood bar and happily decided to go. Upon arrival with the sweetest 14 year old registered service animal, was met with hate and hostility regarding said dog. I was confused and dumbfounded by Tom the Bar Managers behavior. My very good friend walked away as I stood in amazement. I approach this Mr Tom bar manager and asked politely to step aside privately to question his motive and behavior reasons. He immediately to a personal stance saying it was my friend and not the dog,when clearly he came at the dog. Normally I would never take the time to write and post something of this nature, clearly this man has hate inside him in a place it does not belong. Coming from the background I do these morals or lack there of are not acceptable. I would never recommend going to a place that advertises one thing and is another, a shame looked like it could have been great. I will tell everyone my experience. SAD.Topher Bell

I enjoy this place more than others. The staff is very laid back and friendly and very easy to get a drink with minimal wait time. The music is good the conversations are good in their back patio is awesome.

Transphobic and unwelcoming. Tiny crowd every day of the week besides Sunday. Majority of the staff is rude, unwelcoming, and unkind. Multiple negative experiences here. I live nearby so I have given them multiple opportunities to change my perception of this place. Unfortunately each time I have attended I have been met with similar bad experiences. Drinks used to be reasonable (cheap even) but after Covid they charge the same price as places that actually attract clientele. If you are visiting San Diego please dont bother to visit unless it is a Sunday. Staff has openly used transphobic language towards my friends. Have also used misogynistic language towards me personally. I do not recommend this place at all.

Hypocritical owner. I tried going here first time in San Diego. Was told only gays allowed? I have lived in Austin never experienced this type of behavior especially from an owner. First off how do you know I’m not supportive of this community…also how do you know I’m not bisexual? and to deny me judging me on what I look like? I guess go here only if you are a male.

Ordered a grey goose soda and it came with just grey goose. I don’t know how I got home but five stars for that babe.

Great bar in San Diego to hang out with friends. They provide a jukebox, the beer is cold and the bartenders are friendly and easy to order from. The pool table(s) will allow you to kill some time, restrooms are clean and its on University Drive. Good corner location.

Been to Pecs a few (4-5) times, most recently on June 24th. The bartenders are pretty friendly!, but I find most of the patrons are not. Maybe its because the majority attend more frequently than I do. Prices are good and drinks are pretty strong. Overall, its a good bar to try out. Bartender Trevor is a Hottie!!

Great people and lots of fun. Inexpensive drinks that are high in octane! Bears bears bears!! My people! Bartenders are great and friendly. Only one bt is rude luckily he only works limited shifts and I can use the other bar when he works.

We love this bar! The happy hours are awesome! The bartenders are always nice to us. The drinks are stiff, so be ready to get your drink on.

This is the best place to go for gay men who love a strong ass drink! They dont serve in the small glasses. Tall only at $6.50 a drink! And mostly alcohol and a DASH of mixer. 3 drinks and ur DONE!

Gone to this bar in all sorts of gear many times. Fun place. Been a few months (pre-pandemic) so cant vouch for it currently. They did have a great selection of alcohol.

Its the last great bar in san diego for bears and their admirers. Better yet everyone is welcome. Youll see a leather daddy chatting up my gaybes Manny and handsome bartender ready to pour whatever your in the mood for.

The only bar I like going to. It has Great atmosphere. The Bartenders are quick witted and sassy plus they pour good strong drinks at reasonable prices.

I came from Flex and bricks Bar, the security guard told me that I have had too much too drink and that he was not letting me in...i asked him why and he kept calling me honey. I said excuse me, I am not your honey, I am a man With a dick so please do not refer to me as honey. He would not let me in, it is 12/16/2017 11:55pm. 01/01/2018 1:38pm I came outside to look for my friend who came outside to smoke, the same bar security guard who tried to 86 me would not let me in. I had ordered a corsair on the rocks and explained to him that I wanted to finish drink but refused to let me in. This elderly security guard is purposely attacking me and harassing me, every chance that he gets he will purposely keep me out of the bar. Its so sad and pathetic, the owner needs to know about this so I will report it to the BBB and make sure that every one knows about this ludicrous behavior.
