Large venue is pretty cool. Had a fun time watching bands and hanging out with friends. The upstairs room has terrible sound with microphones that kept cutting out during sets; it was hard to enjoy the bands I came to see when they were stuck up there instead of on the main stage. Pizza is barely edible and overpriced.

As well as the main entrance of the second venue.Makes it difficult to navigate in big crowds or if youre differently able.Harm reduction they used to have a large harm reduction presence. Not any more. Many events are all ages so it was a huge comfort to have harm reduction available. Especially at EDM events.

The venue was decent but somewhat small… alright for crowds of 100 or less. Didn’t get to try the pizza but I heard it was good. All of the staff was really nice except for the manager or owner. I was put on the guest list and I have been going to a lot of the shows and working at them with a lot of these guys since about 2006. I was told I could put my backpack in the room the headliners were keeping their stuff as well as hanging out. I was in the process of switching hotels and wound up going to the show last minute after I was told I was confirmed. Went out to get sandwiches for myself and a friend, after I got back I was told the owner started freaking out about a backpack being in a corner when it realistically wasn’t in anybody’s way. It was also sad that someone wound up losing their backpack that night… So I put it next to a garbage can by the merch table since I’ve been to dozens of these shows with these people and I know I can trust them.Later on in the night the guy who was in charge was just trying to rush everybody out of the door when nobody was even close to being completely packed up. He actually watch the artists out of the venue when we were still out there and was extremely rude. He killed the whole entire vibe and Manny other people would have handled that situation a lot differently… All of us remained polite and in character though. As a booking agent I would not recommend using this venue as a rental if you could find another spot unless their management improves. Other than that, it was a pretty cool spot… The bartender was cool and so was all of the security. Management… Who was only one guy, was extremely unpleasant to deal with and a complete buzz killer.

Hands down one of the best nightclubs in san francisco.Friendly and accepting atmosphere with great music and good drinks! Great place to make friends and hangout. Prices are fair the bar is a little pricey but not unreasonable. Has 2 dance floors downstairs and upstairs. Also has 2 bars and plenty of places to sit including outdoor seating. Theres a cafe with good food, the pizza and onion rings are the best i recomend those. The staff does a great job at keeping the place clean helping guests and keeping out the riff-raff.

Two level venue with 4 bars. Large dance floor downstairs with stage, upstairs lounge and bar, second dance floor upstairs, bottle service style seating, and an area overlooking the larger dance floor. Typically they play different music on the large dance floor vs the smaller one. Typically mostly straight club for 18+. But they do host gay parties.Ground floor is an attached pizza restaurant.

I went there from 1am at May 4th, I was planning to stay there until 2:30, but then the staffs told us to leave the stage by 1:32am. I talked to the staffs and manager, but they asked me to talk to you. I just wanted my money to be refunded because the money I paid was to entertain me and my friends until 2:30am. They tend to be as informative as possible, but they just asked me to email you as a result. I have the evidence of the attitude of the staffs talking towards me, and others so could you possibly reply my email for the further information? PLEASE BEWARE OF VENUES SECURITY AND OVERCROWDING! Due to managements greed hosting simultaneous events, we were put into a cramped section away from the main stage. It was immensely overpopulated due to the size of the room but with well over 100 people. The entry and exit path was a cramped narrow stairwell that got filled with people. In the event of an emergency people would have been trampled and tumbling down attempting to exit, The other fire exit was blocked off because of them hosting another event. This negligence, In combination with an overpopulated room with intoxicated and drug-using individuals, poses serious safety risks and should be addressed as potentially criminal. In fact blocking off a fire exit is illegal. Mosh pit and fight happened that night. Im so thankfull to have gotten out of there in time. But the lack of foresight or care to do this is disgusting. On a previous visit When I entered the pizza parlor from the club, a security guard, lacking visible identification, accused me of not having a ticket and forcibly grabbed me. Despite spending around 15 minutes inside, when I reached the pickup area, a man from a group of casually dressed individuals approached me. Assuming it was an unnecessary conversation, I attempted to move past him, but he grabbed me, questioning my ticket despite my visible presence. This incident, along with the security staffs overall lack of awareness, left me feeling harassed and frustrated.

Wish I could give less than one star. The main issue? The bouncer. We were kicked out so rudely it was shocking. It wasn’t just the way we were treated; it felt like outright discrimination, especially against Asians in our group. No explanation, no decency, just thrown out. It’s clear they don’t care about treating people fairly or with any respect. And here’s a tip: if you face this kind of treatment, don’t forget to dispute the charge with your credit card company. Places like this shouldn’t get away with such behavior.

This place sucks more and more by the year. The drinks are expensive. The bouncers and security are rude, condescending, and aggressive. Theres young crowds at some of these events, but that doesnt stop them from power tripping. They yell and curse at people in line outside and in the pizza place. Anytime they get the chance, they escalate things and use force. They kick people out without asking them to leave first. They put hands on people and drag them out, when its not necessary. They dont care about what actually happened, if they suspect you of doing something or just want you out, then youre out. Theyre smug about it too, Ive heard them brag about taking kids fakes at the door and kicking people out. Ive seen some crazy stuff outside in line, like a bouncer pinning someone down on the ground and people crowding around yelling at him to stop because the dude was saying he couldnt breath (this was a few yrs ago, but not the only time Ive seen them pin someone down). Ive seen people with tickets get denied entry for stupid stuff. They just look at IDs they dont even scan them and theyre quick to accuse people of having fakes. and FYI they dont do refunds ever under any circumstances

Please be careful and aware when youre going here. When buying tickets you might not get into the bigger venue part of the club. On Saturday 150-200+ people were put in the small confined room about as big as a small one bedroom apartment. The entrance was a extremely narrow stairway which people had to exit and enter at the same time and if there was an emergency we all would have been gravely in danger trying to exit and navigate out the only exit. Because apparently the other one was blocked off completely. They oversold tickets so while the floor was extremely packed a massiveline for people who already pre-ordered were stuck outside. There was also no proper calculations being done to check if the room was above capacity people were sneaking in security was really bad And while most people just want to have crazy fun time we dont want to be put in danger. I heard there was a private 21 plus event in the larger venue downstairs which is why most of us got put in this small room but its still very never collectful and greedy to oversell the tickets and put all of us in dangered. I honestly highly even doubt if they have been approved to have that room specifically as a private venue itself for that many people

I’ve been to this club for the past two years and it has really downgraded now. The staff are rude AF, especially the lady who stamps your wrist. She was on a power trip talking about some “You cant go in unless you talk to me” when I asked her where I put my ticket. The one blonde cashier with front bangs working in the pizza area also so rude when you try to ask a simple question. Like why y’all work there if you hate it so much?? Just cause it’s a club doesn’t mean people aren’t aware of how they are being treated. The guy who checks IDs, bartenders, the ones making the pizza and one security guard at the door are always friendly, I don’t know what’s up with everyone, especially when it had just opened. It’s an 18+ club as well so be prepared for the crowd to not have club etiquette. You’ll get pushed around, have drinks spilled on you, have drunk underage people not handling there liquor etc. Its given things like this will happen but it’s truly become a mess compared to a 21+ club. They advertised Doja Cat night to seem so cool just for the playlist to be remixes most of the night, the crowd literally would stop singing so they’d have to transition out. That’s how bad it was getting. ALSO they said they were open till 5 on maps and kicked everyone out RUDELY at around 2:20. Not worth it unless you desperate for a night out.

It’s a dance club some people may not like the way you dance because you dance better than them or a different style. I feel uncomfortable often because the cramped space I have to get through people to find an open spot to dance. Should I report every girl and guy that got in my way? I was told by Joe (security guard ) that if anyone says a person feels uncomfortable around you you’re immediately out. I’m extremely respectful to all women and men and ensure that all dancing is consensual. There is NO way I offended anyone! Ruined my night! Wanted to try this place out and go to my first rave-type event so I bought some tickets for me and my friends. Got in the long line for the door ( expected) and was greeted by the yelling of a security guard to back against the wall ect. Once again this was expected but the tone being used was something between an army sergeant and a an annoyed cop. Anyways show my id to a wonderful lady who put a wristband on my hand (supposedly the wrong one which I did not know until later).Get my tickets and get inside, order a drink. Bartender noticed my wristband on wrong wrist but still gives me a drink. Have some time to make my way up to the second floor (Im just exploring as this is my first time here). I am just hanging out with my friends with our drinks and all of a sudden a group of security guards come up around my group acting as if I have done something horribly wrong. They ask for ID and ask me who gave me my wristband. I describe the lady and they say we dont have anyone like that here. What really got me is that when the man checking my id (the same guy who was barking at us in line earlier) said Thats a good one, immediately incriminating me and assuming it was a fake. I was brought to tears and taken outside (my gracious friends joined me) so that yet another member of staff could check my ID. They were still confused about the woman who originally gave me my wristband. Anyways, they seemed to be offering me another but also said I could not attempt to come back to the club with that ID.By that time I was already upset with the attitude given to me and I just wanted to leave so we all did and continued our night elsewhere. (Some kind individuals at a bar noticed I was upset and informed me that, as locals, they stay clear of DNA. Go figure.)I wanted to experience PLUR, but the staff was not embodying it that night. However, a solid pregame before and you only need two drinks indoors. Awesome vibe for a low key dancing place. Dont expect much look wise, bit other than that cant really go wrong.

Pretty small venue with supposedly 3 floors. However, when I went on a Saturday night only 2 were open. The music here is crowd pleasing and they didnt play a lot of new music, probably because the DJ was in his late 40s/50s. The charge was $20 after 1am which is ridiculous. There are tons of dudes here and the drinks are overpriced. The speakers here are loud and don’t even sound good, it sounds like they are playing music out of amplifiers with absolutely no bass. Would steer clear of this place unless you like spending a lot of money for sub-par clubbing.

I come here regularly on Saturday nights for Booty, a top 40 mash-up night event. I LOVE it because I get to sing and dance to all my guilty pleasures. Drinks are moderately priced and can be strong depending on what you order. It ultimately depends on what bartender waits on you. There are two different rooms with distinct music. The smaller room upstairs has electronic/trance music AND it has a bar. There is also a ton of seating space upstairs and a bar that is way less crowded than the downstairs. The main dancing room is complete with a dancing stage. A really cool feature about this place is that there is a food bar upstairs AND it is directly connected to a pizza parlor downstairs that stays open AFTER the club closes down. I totally recommend going, however, parking around the area is a little sketchy so cabbing or public transit might be a better option.

The DNA Lounge is one of the most notably respected lounges and San Francisco as well as Northern California when it comes to throwing electronic dance music festivals. When its not about the music, the venue offers decent food for lunch and dinner times. Im not going to say the place is clean, but it does keep his self maintained enough for it to be presentable. I really wanted to give this place a good review because they have good music, but a bartender at the 2nd floor was so rude, unhelpful, and Racist. As a popular club, this service is unacceptable.First, he refused to service without mask (understandable regardless the club doesnt require it no more). Then he threw a mask box to us with impatient maner. Then he refused to service my drink because the band on my wrist is on the wrong side, does he out of his mind, he knew its nothing to do with me, they were the one put it on mine.My friend was being nice asked him if he could order a drink for me, the bartender again refused with a rude maner saying that one person can only order One drink at a time.I dont know whether if this is the companys policies or just bc my friend and I are Asians, or he just being rude to everyone, wonder how many ppl he ruin their nights. For whatever reasons, no one deserves to be treated that way especially for a popular spot. Wont return again!

I was there on January 7. They checked us for our covid documents for about half an hour (which is totally understandable). What happened next was a mixture of misfortune on my side +lack of discipline and rudeness on their side. I was chilling with a random friendly dude on a table and midst our conversation while I was checking my phone for a moment , he put a small bottle of vodka (which he had brought from outside) and put it in my hand. Before I can check anything and have the situation under my control, the security came to me and I told him the truth but that random dude just pretended that he does not know me just to save himself. Even though I respectfully asked the security guy to check the cameras to see whos right (there were plenty of them inside there) he rudely teared my bracelet instead, and when I asked to talk to the manager, him and the other security guards offensively harassed me verbally with some curse words and one of them pushed me (which is an obvious act of battery). I completely comprehend the high stress of working in such atmosphere but this was a very improper unprofessional set of behaviors from a club which initially seemed a very decent high-disciplined place. what a shame!

DNA has many good things to recommend it, the pizza is not one of them. My most recent late night visit found the place closed for the first time in my memory. Thats ok because the pizza was unimpressive and overpriced imo although for many in Soma welcome late night emergency food. The venue is good for music and dancing if somewhat dated these days. The sound system could use an upgrade or at least better engineering. This past Friday however was Beyonce Tribute Night put on by the lovely drag queens at Trannyshack. It was an absolutely fantastic time. My only issue with this place is the prices of their awful cocktails. Average mix drink is $9-11 and they are TINY. I almost thought I was back in West Hollywood for how much they were charging. The alcohol to mixer ratio was awful as well. I basically paid $9 for soda water. Honestly though I shouldnt be surprised considering everything in San Francisco is ridiculously expensive. We went here on a Saturday night for a good time. The theme for Saturdays is Bootie SF in which the DJs spin a bunch of awesome mashups. Here are some tips and tricks:- Dancing on the stage is a must.- You can re-energize at any time by buying a pizza next door - there is a door connecting the two establishments.- Get there early and you may get a complimentary CD- There are four rooms of music, bars, and dance floor goodness.- Dress code is whatever you want, and there is an awesome variety of people.

The event and the venue was good. Do not make the same mistake I did and use the ATM outside the place. I sort of knew better than to use it but doing so resulted in my card getting skimmed.

Ive been to DNA Lounge (aka Bootie) 2 times. Each time I had a blast. Went on a random Tuesday the other week, for a MetroWize event, with DJ/VJ Don Lynch, spinning 90s music. The event included 3 free drink tickets, and free entrance, so what is there not to like on a Tuesday night!

When I lived on the same block as DNA I literally ate there or got take out EVERY freakin day. I would get up every morning at 3am just to meet the pastry guy there so I would make sure I got all the sticky buns they had every day. Love those sticky buns!!!

Went there for a show a few months ago. Not a bad venue, though a bit small. Sound was good, and the attached restaurant/bar next good that was open all night seemed like an awesome idea.

Their pizza is normally very good. But this time the crust was burnt when it was warmed up. It was really sad to see that the staff couldnt warm the pizza up without burning the crust. We wont go back. Theres other pizza in town.

Monday Nights offer SFs best industrial dance club. Usually softer new wave is played up front; industrial upstairs around 8 or 9, in the back, closer to 11PM or midnight.

Ive only been to DNA Lounge for Bootie, the mash-up-centered dance party hosted by the club every Saturday. Cover charge is generally $10 for early birds (before 10pm) and $15 thereafter. You can also purchase advance tickets from the Bootie website for $15 as well, which allows you to use the express line to get in. On some nights this can be real benefit as lines for entrance can get mighty long at times. Once inside, note that bars are cash only, though there are plenty of ATMs available (with a fee, of course). The club features a number of dance floors each with its own musical style, with mash-ups featured in the main, two-level room. Decor is grungy, as is the atmosphere... this definitely isnt a swanky, ultra-lounge type place, but if youre looking for some decent grooves in a frenetic frat-party type environment, its not a bad option.

Ive only been here for Hubba Hubba Revue but it was an entertaining show, even with the corny theme and hosts. The only thing I would change is more seating in the venue. Standing on the railing, not moving, while drinking for 3 hours leads to a special kind of hangover hell.

Cheap and greasy pizza with phoney punks everywhere. Smells like piss outside. Inside it looks like a hipsters palace. Great if your drunk and dont care about your buttocks the next morning.

A pretty good time if youre not too bothered by hoards of college age bros. Bootie is a party. The other night we went dancing there was also a furry party happening in one of the upper rooms, and they came down and wandered the floor every now and again in full fur suit gear.

Heres the deal:Plusses:- Bootie SF, the Saturday night party here, is beloved by anybody from frat bros and sorority girls to mission hipsters. The mashups are really good and creative. The shows (usually some kind of drag show or contortionist) can be a bit weird but the drinks are strong and it is an all around great time.- The pizza place attached to it is perfect drunk pizza. Good to have around after a night there.- The plays they perform here, like Terminator Too, are really, really funny - they pull people from the audience to read lines on flash cards and play the Terminator or some other character in the play, and theres lots of fake blood shot into the audience, along with hilariously bad propsDownsides:- Can be a long line for Bootie itself, and there is a cover- Its definitely not posh - the bathroom is a little gross

Good place for bands to practice in front of a crowd. Sound system seems to be okay. Sound engineer needs help. Some bands you cannot even hear the guitar. Looks like the engineer favors bass and drums, not sure why. Night I was there, Nov 18, 2012, sound monitors did not work, bands could not hear themselves. Also Battle of the Bands??? there is no battle. It is just a who is more popular contest. In fact the lead singer of one band sat behind me chatting with friends after his turn and said It does not matter how good you are, just how popular you are. Format should be changed. Winner should be decided by impartial judges (maybe DNA staff?) Otherwise it is pretty stupid in the current format. Will never go to a battle again. Atmosphere otherwise is what would be expected for a lounge with live music. Did not have time to eat in the adjoining pizza restaurant, but it looked good and people have said it is good. May try it next time.Fix your monitors.Change the Battle of the Bands formatThe bands will sound better, your customers would have a better time.Win win.

Visited Hubba Hubba upstairs in DNA for a burlesque show where my friends performed. If you want to sit down make sure you arrive early as there is limited seating, it fills up fast. We managed to get on the guest list but still had to pay $5 each for seats. Also, make sure you dont sit in someone elses reserved chair. Otherwise the staff will ask you for proof of seat upgrade and argue with you.Which was really RUDE. Im NEVER coming back here again, what a TURN off...In total, we spent $23.80 and are better off donating that to homeless of SF.

I woke up with a hangover. Thank you DNA Lounge.Well organised party, not insanely crowded, would have loved it if theyd served me some tap water as well instead of encouraging me to slowly dessicate. Cant have everything. Loved the different areas as well, theres lots to explore.

No wonder this place is going bankrupt. They dont let you keep your empty cups after 2am and instead make you buy water.Make the DJ listen to what he produced the day after and you might get a feedback loop going. The reason this place is dying is not gentrification, this is just poor entrepreneurship.
