I was in SD for business and found this place because it looked lively and had good reviews. I ordered the chicken artichoke sandwich and sweet potato fries for takeout. When I arrived at my hotel, I discovered my order was wrong. Instead of the chicken artichoke sandwich I got a turkey bacon sub with avocado. I do not eat pork so this was really disappointing. Because of rush hour traffic I decided that I wouldn’t go back and never will. I do not recommend for takeout. And if you do, check your order first. Waste of my money.
This was my first time at a Drag Brunch and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. As a queer black 41 year old woman marrying a man, sometimes I feel my queerness gets buried so drag shows and queer bars really help me keep my full self alive. My besties planned my mellow bachelorette in San Diego and picked this brunch for the interactive elements and the great reviews and I am so thankful they did.The food was fab, the mimosas were tasty, and the service was epic. They all had a lot on their plates keeping party groups, multiple Bach parties (we had brides and grooms and that was so great), and birthdays all happening but my glass was never empty and folks were always checking in.Please forgive me for forgetting the name of our amazing MC in the pink tropical outfit and nameplate chain (which makes me feel even worse for forgetting) …but this wonderful human made the environment so fun from welcoming us in to seeing us all out. Their energy really set the tone for the event and kicked us off with joy.The host Queen, Kickxy, was not only talented and beyond gorgeous, but made the interactive part so much fun. I was scared at first but the whole atmosphere relaxed me and while my team didn’t win, I think we all felt like winners. So thank you all from the bottom of my witchy heart and if any one of you want to come to a wedding in 21 days in Seattle, hit me up.
Lost my sunglasses and called the bar after to hotel. The person I spoke to said yes they had them. I said can you mail them to me no problem what is your address so I gave it to him. Waited 2 weeks and no sunglasses in the mail. He again in San Diego called and they dont have them. Why does a company hire someone and say they are going to mail them and never receive. Wont go there again !!! Thanks Moes End of story I got them back 3 weeks later. Thanks guys !!!
Hot waiters! Delicious food! FANTASTIC DRAG SHOWS! I had SO much fun attending the Saturday drag brunch this weekend. I didnt know what to expect as I hadnt been before but Im so glad I did. Awesome atmosphere. Special shout out to waiter Edward J. for helping me get dollar bills for the queens as Im from out of town and forgot my debit card, and for just being a super helpful and amazing waiter in general. I hope I wasnt too annoying! THANK YOU! Cant wait to come back!
I used to like Moes but their viewing parties have gotten worse. The girl seating people is so rude and entitled, she will argue with you about seats and who can seat at your table or not. Mariam is fun and entertaining but they really need to put courteous people up front, not someone who’s gonna fight with your customers.
We felt so at home here! The service is amazing, and everyone that we interacted with was sweet, bubbly, and absolutely hilarious. It was my friends birthday when we walked in and they gave him a happy birthday sash that he wore all night. Truly did make our night and it was a Perfect kickoff off to a wild Hillcrest evening.
My boyfriend and I stopped by on our vacation last Monday, the 20th. We’d gotten in just in time for happy hour and we got the pretzel and some mozzarella sticks. I’m not sure if they were bad or there was some type of cross contamination, but we got food poisoning and it took away two days off our vacation while we recovered. Food safety is important! The decor of the restaurant is a little drab (I like the campiness) and dusty as well. Normally that wouldn’t be an issue, but combined with getting sick and having a dusty restaurant? That tells me steps are being missed. I don’t want to rip on small private owned businesses, but our small trip here cost us a lot down the road and because of that I wouldn’t recommend them.
So delightful!!! We had Chicken Strips, Vegatarian Soy (sorizo) Nachos, Potatoe Pancake and Soda for roughly $40 including Tip. We are 2 grown single ladies with no kids so its nice to go places like Mos where they celebrate because holidays can feel lonesome for old single people lol. Thank you Mos for being so festive, it brings light to some peoples darkness all the bright cheer you offer!!! The Servers were fantastic as well!!! And a nice guy gave us Rabbit Ears for Easter! For me its nothing to do with religion just the spirit of festivies!
Best place to hang out, celebrate any occasion and meet gorgeous people in San Diego. Great food (especially the burger), great drinks (heavy pour) and great staff (especially Dennis). They have the best drag show in town, The Dream Girls Review with Chad Michaels, Morgan Mcmichael and Jasmine Masters to name a few.
Been coming here since forever! Such a good time, decent food, better drinks, and always lots going on throughout the week, from spaghetti to RPDR to brunch, you’ll find something good to eat, something good to drink, and someone good to meet! 😜
Keith was so friendly and attentive. We are from out of town and he made our visit to Urban MOs worth it. Definitely stop by if you have the chance
Mo’s is a great place to meet friends; get to know new people; listen to music; dance or just to chill. When I am in San Diego, it is my first stop on a night out and then usually becomes my last stop also. Great service, drinks and food (the best burgers). The employees are always friendly and helpful, Mo’s is always filled with good energy and great vibes ... and pink Flamingos!
The burger ran right through me.Real greasy. Fun place. But food wasnt good.
Great music. If youre wanting a group dinner or only seating for 2, this might your place (havent tasted the food, dont know). If you want casual hangout, the layout is not conducive, and the staff are not the kindest about it. Sit-down brunch for your group? Great. If drinking and socializing with your group is primary, perhaps try elsewhere.
I truly love Urban MO’s… one of my favorite spots to go to for food, drinks and entertainment. It is a staple of Hillcrest Community!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as a group of straight guys and gals. The Halloween decor is incredible and miles better than any other bars. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is being screened with a live cast accompanying the movie - and that is truly the most memorable event for me in the last few months.
My friends and I were visiting from AZ for the 4th of July weekend and this place met ALL expectations. Great music, great food (large portions), strong drinks, excellent wait staff, and just an all around great experience! I highly recommend visiting them if you are visiting San Diego! Just the ambiance of the restaurant is worth it! I will 100% be returning every time I am in the area.
Urban Mo’s is a favorite spot of my wife’s. The food is mid grade at best. It’s not the food you come for, it’s the heavy handed drinks and the atmosphere and the FUN at the shows they have. I came here and won tickets to a Latrice comedy show and it was worth it. Snacks, booze, and sass. That’s what this place is. I recommend it for a good time. The Brunch shows are the best 👌
We just visited Mos for the Bubbles for breakfast show this weekend. Honestly, some of the best customer service I have experienced in a long time. Thats usually hard to find at tourist attraction places, but they blew it out of the water! I got the rosemary brisket hash and was honestly impressed at how good the quality of food was at a restaurant that is performance based. This venue did a great job making our bachelorette party weekend a huge success!
So my big warning to you is that the portion are HUGE!!! I am putting that up front in case you are just skimming through and are wondering what to order. So I just went here with a group of people from work to get dinner and watch the Wednesday night Dreamgirls Drag show and I have noting but good things to say about the place. As I said the food was huge portions and the things like the Nachos could feed 10 people and didnt have those sneaky chips that end up without toppings, every one had toppings and it was all yummy. I got the French Dip sandwich and it came with fries and was too much to eat with the shared nachos and I would have considered sharing an entrée if I had known. The staff was really friendly from the security at the door to the tech crew and of course the servers. Everyone was helpful when I had questions and seemed to be having a good night. They didnt have that I hate my life vibe you get from some places. The show itself was good. For the price you cant beat it and it was about what you would expect for a smaller weeknight show. When I went, it was $16 for the cover and we bought a table for 4 for then $64.One thing I wish they would have done is told us when each of the performers was doing their last performance for the night. If I had known I would have given out the rest of my dollars or if they had a bucket after the show that could be split between all the performers I know several people in my group would have been happy to give the rest of our dollars we had been holding onto to the performers. The bar has a good atmosphere, reasonable prices, and would be a nice place to meet up for a first date or to hang out with friends. It was clean and modern and felt safe and comfortable for everyone.I recommend you try going here if you are in SD if you are looking for a gay bar or if you are looking for the show!
Always visit this place when visiting San Diego. Fun, good drinks, and good food.
This place used to be “the place to be,” but between the portions of food going down and the prices going up, mixed with mediocre service at best, it’s on a steady decline. Time to find a new usual hangout.
First experience at Urban Mo’s last night fir their Dream Girls Revue (Drag show). We purchased our two $15 tickets in advance for seating at a shared table of four. Our server came by several times for our drink orders (and food if we wanted) and payment was electronic at the table. The venue itself is pretty large and the staff is friendly and welcoming. This was my husbands first drag show and last night there were three regular drag queen performers, one guest drag queen and one regular drag king performer. It was all lip sync and dance performances with some impersonations and some creative interpretations. The stage is small but the back lit screen featured some great graphics and video. It has been a long long time since I attended a drag show and my husbands first time so while I didn’t think to have dollars to tip for the performers, one staff member was walking around checking to see if patrons needed dollars and he was able to quickly accommodate before the show began.Neither of us had ever experienced a drag king and this performer was excellent and very creative. One performer started off with an impersonation of Prince lip syncing to “Nothing Compares to You” which Sinead O’Connor is best known for and then they transitioned into an impersonation of Sinead O’Connor and this was really awesome.Seating began at 6pm and the show itself ran from 7 pm - 9pm. The show was entertaining and the patrons all seemed enthusiastic and supportive of the performers as they made it rain dollars fir the performers. This was a fun night for both my husband and I and I can recommend the experience. A diversity of patrons were present, all ages, genders and sexualities.
This is my absolute FAVORITE burger in San Diego! I attend Comic-con every year (for more than a decade) and I always make time to eat at MO’s. As I write this, I’m a week out from this year’s Comic-con and I’m salivating because I can’t wait to enjoy my cheese burger! I literally picked an earlier flight for my trip so I could eat here sooner! Wish I could post videos to this review from my trip last year because after I ate, I realized there was an awesome video game themed drag show going on inside at 11 AM! I’m super excited to start my San Diego Comic-Con vacation by eating here the moment I land!!!
I ordered a Ceaser salad with grilled chicken, and the dressing on side. My food took a long time to get here. Plus the dressing was already on the salad. Also, when I did get my salad, it only came with a steak knife and no fork to eat my food with. It shouldn’t take that long for a salad to come out. The MO Burger my boyfriend ordered came out WAY before my salad did! That make NO DAMN SENSE! He’ll…the bartender could have as well gave us our utensils as well before food came out! Y’all need to fix this…..NOW!!!!
The food was great oscar whom served my drinks and meal was very kind and then i headed to the bar where I met Jordan who was the bar tender. I was surprised that Jordan was working very hard to keep the other people drinks in order and there was someone coming in. I had a good time and the atmosphere was sweet with different music
We were in town for a wedding and swung by for the drag race viewing party and drag show. Wed heard about this place and it was great. Guys of all shapes, sizes, and ages were there and it felt way more chill and welcoming than other bars Ive been to. The drag show was great and Miriam T was a hilarious host. Drinks were cheap during happy hour and food was solid too. Will definitely come by again if we find ourselves in San Diego again.
First off... I love Mos. Ive been a patron for many years. I moved out of state a few years ago. Im visiting my hometown and stopped by this morning for some food, coffee, and a drink.Food was great. Service was atrocious. This bartender... Jordan i think... was slow and inattentive(to me.)I struggled to get his attention for a 2nd cup of coffee that never arrived and wasnt even able to order a beer when i was ready because....He was too busy thirsting over the guy next to me & pouring him free drinks. He should try to get laid on his own time. It was honestly pathetic watching this simp.Im so disappointed... pls screen your future bartenders
Always a great atmosphere, great drinks, great service! This used to be old stomping grounds but then we moved to east coast. Every time we are back in San Diego, the first stop from the airport is Mos! Hats off to Jason who still remembers our drink order and always provides great service.
I just walked by so laughed at Halloween decor and had to take a picture. So I can’t really review, just show you some of the insanity in this scary entrance, decorations!! This is a rowdy place but if you’re into that it sounds like fun!!
They definitely don’t skimp you on the alcohol in their drinks. The food is mid though, definitely don’t get their brisket brunch item either unless you wanna know what prison food tastes like
Delicious food, friendly staff, and lots of events to get people out and to build community. I especially enjoyed the chicken pot pie, be aware they only make a few though lol. Overall this is a great place to spend time! I definitely recommend it!
My friend and I came here for brunch. And OMG it was so amazing visiting California for the time and this place was so amazing! Our bartender who is Jason was amazing and helped us with places to go! And the food was so delicious definitely would come back here for sure!
Jordan was our bartender was amazing! The kitchen was behind, it was extremely busy, and he was so friendly & kept us updated. Jordan made our experience amazing!! Such a fun atmosphere well worth it!!
This is a great space and an institution in San Diego, however that success has led to an arrogant attititude when it comes to managing what happens inside. Gawd forbid youlre in the happy hour crowd driniking premium liquor at 8PM when the secuity staff comes on duty, as theyll treat you like the enemy when it comes to conforming with their expectations for stanchions and ropes. What should be hey guys we need you to move over becomes if you dont like it you can leave when a mouth-breathing breeder shows up with authority. If youre looking for a quality early evening with men who can afford a pleasant experience, this might not be the space.
Ive been to Mos many times over the past few years. Happy to say that the staff have treated me as if I was a long returning family member on each occasion. The food is generally carb heavy and portions are quite significant. Pretty good for a recovery from the night before. Great drinks and the bartenders are always good for a recommendation. The atmosphere inside is friendly, lots of natural light, always pleasantly decorated.Best of all, it doesnt take itself too seriously. Fully endorse for a great brunch, lunch and evening experience. Do visit, its lovely.Update: Still great! (Jul 2022)
I’m a straight woman, came here the first and Daniel was very friendly to me. Will def go back and ask for him 😇
Stellar service, staff, atmosphere and food. The mushrooms are YUM! and Im sure my burger on the way is as well!! A must stop by and try: Rhanks Urban Mos!!!
Had a wonderful time. Good food, good drinks and great service. I really enjoyed the music and the male go go dancers.. Very comfortable atmosphere and reasonable drink prices. Bonus points for all gender restroom..
I went in expecting ur average bar food and music way too loud. It was surprisingly good and great portions too. Got the blackened chicken and had enough for lunch the next day. Drinks were on point as well. Definitely coming back when I get the chance
One of my all-time favorites places to go. The absolute best burgers in SD, always fun, efficient staff. Just the best.
Had a really good time here at brunch today. Extremely friendly and attentive staff. Good and drinks were great. Different atmospheres going on which was cool. Lots of excitement at the drag brunch, a little more chill in other areas if thats your speed. Good people watching if youre sitting along the sidewalk, too.

You guys! Can’t recommend this place enough!!! And our server Marcus!!!! He’s 1,000% the reason for all the stars!! His recommendation of the ‘Flaming Mother Plucker Wrap’ (SOOOO GOOD) and his YEARS of experience only made us love it here more! Ask for him by name, he’ll treat you SO WELL!!!! This is the perfect spot for a good day!!
Mos was a charming place with an exciting atmosphere. Our server was very polite and made us feel well taken care of. The burgers were fantastic! Every bit as good as the site says, and so big we had trouble finishing them. 10/10 we will surely come back next time were in town!
I like the atmosphere at this place is fun, the food is really not that good just like bar food. The services is also not that good, the prices of the drinks are a little high but not too bad!
Best gay bar in the world and it just got better. Cute and handsome addition - Jordan - goes out of his way to make sure all customers are comfortable. He looks like a go-go dancer but tells me he is not. This place is better because of Jordan! The staff is super dedicated to customer satisfaction! Overall all the staff have perky and fun personalities. Its always a party here!
Ive been coming here since 2009. The service has gone waaayyyyy downhill. In fact, I was at this place for an advertised event and they awarded me 2 vouchers for free bottomless mimosas and free brunch. When I came to redeem them, the manager on duty tried to charge me for either the mimosas or brunch although the certificates clearly said both mimosas and brunch were included. Unfortunately, theyre shady and clearly only care about your money. I say let the fittest survive. Bye bad servers! No one wants any of you all!!!
Other than finding parking, this Hillcrest bar/grill was the perfect place for an afternoon lunch break. Their Cobb salad was quite large and very tasty. Nothing skimpy about each ingredient. Lively, with an afternoon crowd I was pleasantly surprised. Staff were helpful and friendly. The salad was large enough that half was boxed to go home. Salad with iced tea refills came in under $20. Open for B, L, and D. Give MOS a try!
Always a fun time. The staff is always sassy, fun and upbeat and the drinks are good! Brunch on the weekends is always a production, especially when bottomless mimosas are involved. The food is surprisingly good as well. Definitely go in the daytime or around dinner, as it tends to get quieter after 9 or so. Love this place!
Had the best time for my 21st birthday here! everyone was so nice and welcoming i loved my server!!! the food was great as well
I very rarely leave reviews, but the staff at this place is top notch! Had Marty as our server and he was so sincere and genuine. Food was also very good. As a small restaurant manager, I really appreciate everything Marty was willing to share about the work atmosphere, and I plan on trying out some new/different things with my own staff. The owners clearly do such a great job taking care of their employees, and it shows in the care given to the customers.
Our waiter, Sam, was awesome! He was attentive and made us feel like we were old friends. It was musical night so they played clips that went along with the music (the parade scene from Ferris Buellers Day Off). It was a really fun atmosphere. Im definitely going back!!
Always a great ambiance. Potent drink, worth the money and not too pricey, amazing service, moved to the bar after our table time ran out during busy brunch time and got free shots!!!!!!!
The food was terrible, literally. I am always at restaurants trying here and there, but I never ever had a processed meat placed in my sandwich and it’s called French dip. It’s totally grocery stores processed meats that I don’t buy even by myself there were five of us and none was happy with his meal.
Great experience! Went for lunch and had the Western Burger, onion rings, Pink Flamingo and Strawberry Queen! All were delicious. Just enough alcohol to keep me happy lol! Chill vibes, friendly staff. But wait, theres more: an amazing rainbow heart mural to take pictures! Theres a dance floor that looks intriguing but was not being used during lunch hours. Happy times!
First off, its a primarily LGBTQIA place, a San Diego institution. All the staff are very friendly and the food is very good (I was here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon). Great drinks and fun atmosphere. The patio is nice and can be a little loud with music playing. Parking can be an issue (be expected to find street parking, possibly blocks away). My favorite place in Hillcrest!
Service was pleasant/fun but slow and disorganized. Ordering software seemed either overly complicated, or beyond the capabilities of the server. (It was busy, but not extremely so, and servers seemed overwhelmed)I didnt have food, so I left that at 3 stars (neutral). Thats my history here, so Ill leave that at neutral, and comment on other stuff. Chad Michaels, and the dreamgirls, are fabulous of course.
Urban Mos not only has amazing drinks, but fantastic food and excellent service! Our sever was the nicest ever, correcting a slight hiccup with one order very quickly and was just the most friendly person! Their drinks are delicious and strong and we just had a lovely brunch there. We also went for a drag show the other night and that was an absolute blast! And the food is also really good, which is a huge plus because you do not want to drink on am empty stomach here lol! Highly recommend!
The food is excellent and good portions. The price is what one would expect for that level of quality and ambience. However it was a shock when the bill came. The drinks were as much as the meal and none of us ordered anything alcoholic. None of us in our little group were working so money is tight. Also there wasnt enough waiters. One dude was waiting all the tables we could see. He was running around like crazy. It was hard to get his attention and when he did show up he would run off as quick as he could. This was a special occasion for us. For that money we should have gotten much better service
This place has some really good food and super strong drinks. The atmosphere is super fun and the music is good. Nice place to eat, drink and dance. It was so good that because we were in San Diego during the week. It was the best spot to go to in the beginning of the week. Cause they had some fun themes going on. Definitely would visit this place again.
This place was great. Good atmosphere, good service and good drinks. I had the country fried steak with herb potato pancake and eggs with wheat toast. This was great and filling. If thats not enough the price was good. I will be back.
Staff was super friendly and helpful. Food was really good and portions were huge! I had the philly cheese steak and could have had it with veggies or chicken if I chose. Fries were good too! Fiancee had the artichoke chicken sandwich. Both sandwiches were so big we couldnt even finish our fries!
Urban Mos is one of my favorite bars in Hillcrest. The vibe and the employees are amazing and so friendly. I have such a great time every chance I get to come here. Keep being a staple of Hillcrest!!! We love you!! 💕😘😊
I always enjoy coming to this place for food or drinks or both. Their burgers and fries are the best, they are huge and enough to fill you up. I also love the blackout lemonade. If you are looking for brunch this would also be the spot. They have bottomless mimosas at a price you can’t beat. The waiter and waitress make sure your glass is never empty.
Urban MOs has alway been a staple in San Diego and will always be. I was so excited that they were open and we really enjoyed our afternoon there. I am sure we would have stayed longer had we not had to get home. They always have great music and great drinks. I have been here a few times and have always enjoyed my visits. This is a great place to grab a drink with friends and catch up.
We got dinner here yesterday for my friends 21st birthday, our waiter Daniel truly made the whole night! He was so attentive, our drinks were never empty and he was happy to help with anything we needed!! The food was incredible, the vibe of the restaurant was even better! I will definitely be coming back!
It was wonderful as always. We no longer live in San Diego, but my daughter had been wanting to go there since Ive told her about it many times,, and since her and I made the trip down here to see Hamilton, I took her. She was the only teenager in there, but It was just as wonderful as always. Thank you.
One of my favorite stops in Hillcest. Theres always energy, music, and the staff are A+. If you drag yourself in for dinner, the staff ensure you will be full and leave feeling like the day really wasnt so bad!
So friendly and welcoming! Had a great afternoon. Great food, great drinks, amazing atmosphere! If you get the Chardonnay Mushroom Melt add steak and make it a meal. You wont go wrong, AMAZING!
Its great to have Urban Mos open for dining in again. Were trying to get out and support our favorite places. Some of my favorite plated meals arent currently on the new limited menu, but the food and atmosphere still made for a great experience out. I had the Crispy Chicken Ranch Wrap, which was delicious and a very generous serving.
While visiting San Diego, some friends and I stopped in at Mo’s to see what all the hype was about. We were greeted immediately by a bartender, Tyler. To start, he is absolutely gorgeous and I would go back just to see him again! He is the most energetic and friendliest bartender I’ve ever encountered! The service was so fast and the drinks were on point. We loved everything about this place but we especially loved Tyler! Thanks for the amazing service and treating us all like queens!
All staff treated us very well. They genuinely seemed happy to see us. They took our temperature and were very professional about it. Our waiter, Andrew was very friendly, pleasant and very attentive. We really enjoyed our meal and drinks. Thank you!
If youre a dedicated carnivore like myself I highly recommend The Hangover Burger with the side of mashed potatoes and gravy. It was a massive burger, delicious side, and great drinks. If you go with a large group, an order of nachos will accommodate at least 5 people. Great food and good service. Would definitely go back.
Food is good, had the Mo burger. The waiter was awesome with just the right amount of flirty. I also had a call drink off the menu that had grapefruit vodka, St Germaine, and Rose wine. I dont like Rose wine but the first drink was actually the right combination of flavors and I liked it. The second one tasted like rose and wasnt so tasty like they forgot the grapefruit vodka. It was10 bucks and I drank it anyway. Mos is always fun. Go there!
The waiter was super awesome and the food tasty! For me the environment was fun but chill, we were there around 4 pm. They worked with us for my husbands diet restrictions. Wish we had one back home.
Loved the show, will come again! Thankfully we were able to access proof of vaccination online, since we were unaware of the proof of vaxx requirement for the section we were seated in. The door gal was super helpful, and got us taken care of quickly.
I am absolutely impressed by how good the management is being applied in Mo’s Bar & Grill. Even during COVID-19 time, this bar is making possible for you to enjoy a good cocktail in a safe environment. Wonderful customer service from the first moment you got into the bar. Delicious food and the most entertainment LED screen to enjoy music videos while you are taking dinner. Congratulations to the staff that is working hard to make us feel good attended.
Happy place to enjoy good cocktails. My favorite bartender Jason. Excellent customer service. I travel to S.D. often. All are welcome here and good food. Safe and secure, Happy hours are my best experiences. Friendly atmosphere. I love Mos.
Use of live snakes, not nicely either, animal cruelty at its finest!
Amazing vibes! The place was a little empty but the music was great, our server was wonderful, and the drinks were perfect. Definitely coming back !!
There food was limited. Idk what happened but i was there last year the food was awesome. I went about 2 wks ago. The food was gross i had chicken nachos the tortillas was hard and burnt the cheese was horrible. 7-11 nachos was better. I asked for no onions they still put onions on top. Asked for no onions on the sliders it had onions. The drink was the only good thing. I wont be dining there again. Yuck
I have been coming to Mos for many years now. The burgers and salads are my favorites. Staff is very friendly. It has Inside seating and a terrace with a bar. They always have something going on : dance floor, specials, parties, happy hour. Its a great place to hang out.
I love it here! Everyone is so friendly and my server was amazing. I tipped him $35 dollars for how amazing he was. The only thing I dislike is that the tables are scarce and it’s hard to catch a waiter sometimes. Fun place in Hillcrest. It’s one of mine and my boyfriend’s favorites.
Folks, if you are looking for a place to grab some food and drinks while experiencing an ever changing nightlife this is the place! And as of the last visit it seems that things like trivia nights are coming back! So jump online, check out the upcoming schedule and plan a night out! You wont regret it!
1 less star. Only because I feel the drinks can be irresponsibly strong. The food, atmosphere, and service rocks! I love everything about this place. Just watch how the drinks are made. Not everyone can handle high amounts of alcohol. That means bad things can, and sometimes happen. Great place vs the ridiculously strong drinks. 💙
Went to all you can eat Spaghetti night. It was really good. Just like homemade. If they offered real fresh shaved parmesan cheese it would be top drawer but I believe that would rise the price of $6.99 which is a great value. The bartenders red wine suggestion was spot on. His service was excellent.
My favorite place for happy hour. But service on Saturday afternoon was lacking. My friends and I got seated right away, but our server was no where to be found for 20+ mins. We eventually called someone over to order drinks and even that took another 20+mins. We ordered the Mo burger and a side fries, but was given someone else’s order. I ordered another vodka tonic and that didn’t even come so we eventually decided to leave before our 4:15 time limit. We were Already annoyed by the lack of service. He gave us the check and charged us for the drink I didn’t receive and the burrito wrap we didn’t order!!! I’m glad we looked at the check instead of handing him our card and Made him correct our bill!!!I’ve been here plenty of times and never had the service we had that weekend!! Hopefully next time would be better!!
Ive always loved Mos but seeing them again after the pandemic has been such an amazing experience! They are so clean, the staff was friendly, the food tastes amazing, and their portions are so generous. So proud 👏
The drinks are super creative and the atmosphere is always fun. Youll definitely get better service here as a male... one star was shaved off because one bartender told a female in our party that they dont make fishbowl drinks and a few minutes later a guy from our party asked for the same fishbowl drink and it was served right away with a plastic fish! Meh. I still had a blast!
Older crowd for me.. but fun atmosphere. Drinks are great! The service wasnt bad but they served friends first and people they know got better service.
Been going here for over 20 years. Def a fun festive place with wicked drinks and great food! I moved to Denver a few years ago and wish there were a place equivalent but have not found one yet. Everytime I am back in Hillcrest it is on my list of places to visit usually first.
Very fun, bright, and colorful atmosphere!! The food was amazing, especially for a bar! Drinks were strong and yummy in my tummy!
Why are we at a bar and the music is 30 yrs old and we’re watching rhe disasterous story of the shuttle explosion. Get it together. Lord. Oome comes out for this environment. Sad
Food was good and service was good. This place charges you about 18% gratuity on a $15 meal which is almost $3. Not a big deal since I was going to tip about $5. What bothered me is that I paid for my meal with cash. The total was about $18.40 and I paid with a $100. Instead of getting $81.60 back the waiter only gave me $80 in change. I dont appreciate people stealing my money like that. I will definitely not return to this place due to their dishonesty.
Always the best and friendliest place to go. I dont drink much but can tell you they have a great selection of fun cocktails. What lots of people dont know is how under rated and good the food it. Ive been going to Mos for decades now and I cant remember getting something that wasnt good. That is a crazy good track record. Plus the environment is super fun. It is always loud and festive so not the place to go for a quiet night out.
Just stopped in for a cool beer and cider with my favorite son shawn. Met Jason who was so sociable and patient with us. Seem almost immediately we connected. He was professional and maintained a comfortableSpace for us to chat yet still be attentive. Havent been in yrs as I work so much however,Because he was so inviting i will start to visitMore.
Came into Mo’s adrian was the best hostess with the mostess I’ve seen in a while you can tell when people love their job and it’s super refreshing ! Definitely keep him ! Will come back for Adrian !
Im not sure where this place is, but Im thinking this must be the club near Petes Coffee on University Avenue. If it is that place, this seems like a fairly hot place with manly men checking temperatures at the door but letting everyone in since pretty much were all finally pretty much well. Despite the sort of raucous seeming character of this place, this is, a nearby sign says, a quiet neighborhood. I take the sign to be some kind of prayer.
Lively, fun crowd AND AMAZING food. Not kid friendly, but I dont have kids... so... theres that. Its the gay bar for everyone... although Thursdays get a little... screech-y... so if youre noise sensitive, and want a quiet place to eat... just dont go there on a Thursday.
Great spot for any meal! Awesome happy hour and they have shows all the time. Their brunch includes bottomless mimosas until 2 pm. I come here all the time to watch Ru Pauls Drag Race with my friends for happy hour. Be careful though, drinks do come strong. ;)
Um yeah....guaranteed to leave inebriated every time. I LOVE THIS PLACE. A great atmosphere every single time. There are always lots of events going on there. The Staff is super friendly and personable. Did I mention the drinks? 🤯🥴
Great atmosphere and good food
We were in San Diego for a friends wedding and our host suggested Mos. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Dinner was much better than we expected and our waiter, Darius, was a delight. It was husbands birthday and Darius bought us a shot as well as bringing a silly hat and a sash. It was crowded and festive and a lot of fun. We recommend Mos heartily.
Great place for strong drinks, good food, big portions and lots of fun. Their stuffed burgers are amazing and their Chicken Pot Pie is to die for. They have great salads and sandwiches as well. Highly recommended.
This is good gay bar for hanging out with friends and getting a drink usually is okay but it depends on the bartender. The food here is average and sometimes below average, especially during brunch. Its okay to have cold fruit but not cold French toast, bacon, eggs. Luckily the prices are reasonable for the food.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE !!! I had the BEST 🍔 there that Ive had in a very very long time. Bloody Marys excellent, service excellent, atmosphere excellent !!!!! My wife and I will be going there more often. Ill give Urban MOs 🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔, 🍹🍹🍹 🍹🍹, 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Fun lil spot, our server was super nice and funny. Not sure what his name was but he had his nails done so maybe that narrows it down lol, but food was pretty good I had the country fried steak and my gf had the stuffed French toast...she loved it. Would try this place again.
It always seems to be busy even during random times of the day. As far as gay clubs go, the energy is great, the music brings everyone to the dance floor, and the drinks are reasonably priced. The atmosphere is light hearted and fun! I will definitely be back soon.
Went for an afternoon snack & refreshing beverage. Outdoor seating available during these times. Jason was bartending & took care of our food as well. He was very friendly & we liked the fact that he seemed to know everyone or at least connect with them. Dolores & I had the wings. ..mmmmmm
Sat at the bar and visited with friends at this nice brunch location. My friends really enjoyed their buffet which had some really nice smells coming from it and a variety of dishes. I had a sandwich smothered in sausage gravy. Easily would have fed 2 and it was really delicious. Parking is a pain in Hillcrest but this location was worth the hassle.
Without a reservation and with a party of 7 on a Friday night, they were more than accommodating to our group. The chips were awesome! The service was very good and the food was outstanding!! I suggest the shrimp tacos!
I first visited Urban Mos back in 2008 when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton. I absolutely fell in love with the bar and the staff. I recently moved back to San Diego and Mos was THE first bar/restaurant I dined with. Would love to work there... great food, great environment, and great people. YOU MUST GO VISIT URBAN MOS!!!
Only giving 2 stars because the host was nice; however, service at the bar was terrible. Sat at the bar & overlooked for a while. When the bartender finally asked for our drinks he had such a negative attitude. If someone is going to work at a bar at least be cheerful and pleasant! He had this look like he honestly didn’t want to be there. Not even an acknowledgement when we sat down. Terrible customer service at the bar!
Complete 360 of the experience I had 2 years ago. The waiter was so nice and really intimate. I felt like he was my friend lol. Big Kahuna Burger with onion rings is the bomb.
Mos probably has the strongest pours in town! There is usually some even going on every night of the week and this place is NEVER not busy. There is always good music playing and happy people around. The staff are usually pretty friendly and quick. The parking in the area can be a bit of a pain but it is usually worth it. Make sure to make it out for the Dreamgirls on Wednesdays!
Very fun place to grab a drink! Plenty of events going on and a late night spot almost every night. Fun bartenders and very nice staff. Bouncer gave us information about the neighborhood and recommend other fun things to do - recommended!
The Paris burger is delicious! And the cold slaw was surprisingly good as well. Drinks were strong too. Friendly engaging staff. I recommend checking it out!
My daughter took my mom and me out for our birthday to eat there last night prime rib was excellent thank you
This place makes me happy. The all you can eat brunch has a lot to choose from. Staff is sweet and welcoming a breath of fresh air coming from Houston. My second week in a row bringing a new group of people in. Both groups enjoyed it. Thank you 😁
Burger was delicious. Alexx, the server, was really nice. Atmosphere overall was nice. They do seem to have a smoking and non-smoking area indoors. Luckily the smoke didnt get to the non-smoking side.
The drinks were super strong, in which cases it can be a good thing. Bartender was super friendly. The crowd was mixed, but the vibe was pretty weak for a Saturday night.
Yuck. I cant talk all the smoking. That being said staff was ok. People were friendly. Music was good for a boozy Sunday. Had a good time. Luckily we got seats at the bar rather quickly otherwise we probably wouldnt have stayed that long.
Nice and fast service, the waitress informed me about all specials and happy hour deals. I thought it was great that they have outdoor seating.. but because I only visited this place once, I don‘t know wether all the food is really good. I just had an appetizer which I liked.
I really like Mos. Lots of fun, the food is really above average, drinks are still and its a great atmosphere. I especially like Jason, Dennis and Mike. They are the best bartenders! Most of my extra money, when Im in town, will be spent at Mos! The drag shows are really fun, too.
MO’s is simply the best place in San Diego to go to if you wanna have fun and stiff drinks. The food is good and they always have fun stuff going on during the day / night. The service is superb.
It is the epicenter of Hillcrest, with good food, great vibes where anyone, really is welcome- I took my little kids there on Halloween during the day and the food is stick to your ribs, good food. It has the outdoor area which has an indoor feel to it, and the crowd is always lively and tolerant of whoever and whatever walks through the door. Strong drinks, and a place to huff on a cig without apologizing thats near the action, I have to say its one of my top faves for day to early evening. Go there hungry and perfect for group fun.
Absolutely a local favorite 😍 and the taco salad special on Cinco de Mayo was delish! 🥰 always friendly faces and amazing service, strong & tasty drinks and an overall super fun vibe.
Got in at about 7 and it was quiet but full, people having drinks and hanging out everywhere. Very laid back vibe...once it got later, the party really started. Enjoyed an amazing drag show and those queens tore it up!
Best place to get a drink in Hillcrest. Great to stop by for breakfast or brunch for drinks with above average food. Every Sunday brunch has a different theme. Awesome vibe at night with a dance floor, and tons of cool shows and events. Love it!
For years Mos was the go-to place for great drinks and really good food but something has happened. Like their sister restaurant, Baja Bettys, the food has taken a definite downward turn. Bland, tasteless fare seems to be the norm. I hoped it was just my selection but after the 3rd visit in 2 weeks I must report the food is abysmal. Brunch on both visits was tasteless; the brisket was terrible, the French toast nothing but sugar with syrup. If not corrected soon, this Hillcrest landmark will be gone.
This bar is phenomenal for hanging with your friends or just wanting to grab a good cocktail. These gentleman will go above and beyond to make sure your drink is tasty and desireable. I come the service not the food.
This place has been a staple of the Hillcrest gayborhood for many, many years, and Ive enjoyed coming since it was a Hamburger Marys. The recent outside bar remodel was great, but my only complaint is the smoking. I was here recently and my lunch was overshadowed by second hand smoke from the bar. Seems out off touch in 2018.
I love Urban Mos! And I especially love the Dream girls Revue! Always outstanding entertainment! Terrific food, amazing cocktails and the very best staff! I cant help but have a great time, every time!!
Another perfect place to go to if youre in Hillcrest. I believe its the same owner as Gossip Grill and during the day they offer free shuttle service to and from both locations. They also have the best Sunday Brunch deals hands down.
Food was exquisite, staff friendly and courteous. I had never heard about Urban MOs, it was recommended heavily by a close friend who swore the food was delicious and he was absolutely correct. Cant wait to go back.
Fun bar, it always looks crazy, but even when it gets crowded it doesnt feel claustrophobic because two of the walls are open to the outside. They have great big drinks, some are more alcoholic than others. They used to have great music like playing 80s or 90s with the pls music videos on all the screens and it was really fun to dance to. But recently when Ive visited they have guest DJs waking around on an iPad and they play not so great music... At least not great to get a crowd dancing.
The bartender was extremely attentive and sweet. One of the security workers was also very helpful and nice. I came out to watch All Stars and had a great time.
The décor was deplorable and the customer service was a joke. It literally took 38 minutes before the bartender took my order. Clearly the place is short staffed and the staff that work there arent efficient. My cosmopolitan was so strong it made me gag.
MOs is always a fun place to visit. It is consistent with the service and bar concept that they have. It is good any day of the week for a quick bite. Their kitchen is normally open late. Everyday of the week they have a different theme or promotion going on which helps cater to different generations and genders of the LGBTQ community.
This was my first visit to Mos. I flew to San Deigo from Manhattan NY to visit a friend and he took me by this place and Im so glad he did!!From the beginning with the friendly, welcoming over the top Host made my night. All the waiters were very pleasing and accommodating with knowledge of the products. The Moscow Mule was nice and strong!! Just the way I like it!! The Sweet Chilli Wings were simply amazing!! Yes mouth watering good!!Awesome Resturant and I will be back!! Highly recommend this place!!Oh by the way, let your hair down and enjoy the ambience!!
Cute daytime happy hour crowd, but not too crowded. Interesting specialty cocktail list. As interesting as it could get for a gay bar that does drag shows and themed nights. And I dont mean that in a bad way..!
The smoking zone is in like a counterintuitive place. Other than that, I liked it its like a video bar very gay that I found funny they call themselves straight friendly.I would come back for drinking only because the food was acceptable not great. And its so loud that it definitely is a bar more than a restaurant.
Place was crowded and way too loud. Food took a long time and wasnt that good. I got the club and the bread was disgusting and dry. Friend of mine got the brisket sandwich which he says the horse radish was terrible on it. My mlther got the French toast and said it wasnt as good as the waiter said it was.
Meh. What I had (chicken) was nothing special, although the other half liked his quesadilla. Our server (black ?), with glasses was easy on the eyes though, and was attentive. We were in San Diego for business/pleasure and the other option was Mexican down the street. Should have gone for that, but oh well....
This is what I consider to be the heart of Hillcrest. Great place for LGBT, allies, and everything in between. Such a fun environment, great bartenders, 3 bars, never have to wait too long for a drink. Sunday Funday is always a blast!
Stopped here for lunch on the way to the airport and immediately wished we had found it earlier! Definitely recommend the chicken artichoke sandwich!
Had an awesome time grabbing some drinks after brunch down the street. The service was top notch and the drinks were reasonably priced. Definitely will be coming back again.
