Mellow Massage

Had a wonderful experience at the Hillcrest location of Mellow Massage. I have had a gift certificate for a while and just had made time to use it but I was able to make an appointment via text which was really useful for me. I signed up for the membership and wasn’t sure if I would keep it but Lisa was such a phenomenal masseuse that I will definitely be keeping the membership and am looking forward to seeing her next month! She was so attentive to my problem areas and did regular check in to make sure I was comfortable with pressure, heat and areas. Truly an excellent experience!

Worst place to get a massage, they lure you in and tell you about all the enticing things they do there but when you let them know that you wish to cancel your subscription, they charge you again and tell you that you can come in and try to explain all the benefits of the place. My wife used this place once and I canceled, they still charged me. Find a customer oriented place that fulfils your needs, not a place that steals your $.

Had a massage from Sam yesterday and it was an excellent experience! He was exceptional at working around my pre-existing surgical sites and helped loosen knots I had been dealing with for YEARS. He listen to feedback and gave me helpful tips regarding not only future care for my muscles but my sleep as well.I highly recommend the location in Hillcrest, since that was the one I visited, just be aware it is up stairs, in case you have ambulatory issues like me. That said, the walk up and down are WELL WORTH IT!!

I have enjoyed every massage I have had here. Great customer service and easy to book. I highly recommend Lloyd for anyone who is looking for deep tissue work. Hes great and knows what hes doing! 💪

Ive never had a massage before, until I went to Mellow Massage! After doing some research about massage places around San Diego, I decided to book an appointment with Mellow, and I highly recommend you do as well!The booking and checking system is easy to use, the location is easy to get to, the atmosphere is calming as soon as you walk in, and Markus was fantastic! After telling him that it was my first time getting a professional massage, he wonderfully explained to me the process. I knew immediately, as he begun the massage, that he was knowledgeable. He knew exactly where my problem areas were-- even the areas I forgot to mention! I already have another massaged booked, and Im excited to be finally treating myself to a long-overdue self-caring and self-pampering experience.

I’ve seen Amanda twice and she has been amazing. She asked what I needed out of the massages and put a focus on those areas. I’ve been to other places where they just ask to ask. On my second trip, she remembered details from my first visit, which absolutely appreciate. I scheduled number 3!

They hook you in with the membership—but don’t fall for it. Their billing and communication practices are sketchy as hell. Why can’t I see on the website when I’ll be charged each month? Why can’t I see when my prepaid massages expire? I cancelled my membership via email (as they requested it be done) weeks ago only to find out today that they didn’t actually cancel it. I showed up on time for my final appointment today and was told that the therapist quit earlier today. Nobody called to tell me the appointment was cancelled. That’s also when I found out that they actually hadn’t cancelled my membership.There is pretty wide variance in the skill level of the therapists, which I understand and can actually forgive—if it weren’t for the strange, non-transparent management practices. None of the things wrong with this place are the fault of the therapists—it’s 100% terrible management. Don’t do it.

My husband booked me a 2 hour massage for my birthday and it was a perfect gift! Karina, the front desk receptionist is welcoming and calming. The atmosphere is completely relaxed and my masseuse did an excellent job! I left feeling very peaceful and pleased with the experienced.

The massage experience at Mellow is genuinely a good one and the therapists are very knowledgeable and considerate. They remember you and follow up on any recommendations they made. Theyre really what has kept us coming back, but the business practices are soooo poor that we unfortunately just cant keep coming here. Weve started and restarted a membership several times now and have needed to cancel for the exact same reasons each time. The pricing is super fair and is a great draw, but it is nearly impossible to get the appointment you want. Each and every appointment over the last year has been rescheduled for a different time or with a different therapist without the slightest consideration or attempt to reach us. They change it, send you an email, and expect you to make contact if theres an issue. They do not even bother to honor gender preferences for therapists. If you try to schedule a couples massage or a massage with another person, theyll charge one person for the full price instead of honoring your individual memberships and its your responsibility to contact them later to change it. When they cancel or reschedule at the last minute, there is no refund given even if your therapist is booked out and unavailable for the remainder of the time you have credits for. There are a lot of areas where the business can and should improve the experience for its clients, and its unfortunate because the therapists are terrific and deserve so much better.

For years (and this is true) I was looking for a massage therapist who could really work my sore muscles,-not just rub me with oil-. I was given my first massage at Mellow as a present and from there, I signed up. The place is clean, private, everyone is incredibly professional, and the therapist (Lloyd), its an expert. He removes my muscle spasms with ease, he truly is a professional. I am extremely satisfied with this place.

Loved the space at Mellow Massage, I’ve had multiple massages there and all the massage therapist are amazing and professional. Thank you to Elizabeth for taking great care of me this last time! Excited to return back and experience more relaxation and healing

I have been to a lot of spa’s. It’s hard to find a full amenities facility provided in San Diego unless you goto larger facilities such as resorts. Even though there are no sauna rooms, Mellow makes it affordable, travel convenient, and provides exceptional service for the price. You are getting your bang for your buck, a great place to try out if you’ve never treated yourself yet! If they had a sauna room, sound proof rooms, this place deserves a 5 star in San Diego for their services.

I have been to multiple locations (PB and Hillcrest) and have had great experiences at both! Excellent and skilled massage therapists, easy scheduling and great customer service… couldn’t ask for more! Look no further for your next massage.

Markus works some sort of insane magic. Every time I leave I’m just a ball of goo. He somehow finds all the knots and spots without having to give him any direction. He’s incredible.My only complaint is their booking and client relations which they outsource. They’re super aggressive and don’t listen to you when you first schedule an appointment which absolutely turns people off. They really need to fix that.

I went in for a prenatal massage, and they had the most magical pregnancy pillow. I don’t mind doing the side pillow thing, but getting to lay on my stomach for the first time in months was quite a treat. Massage was wonderful and just what I needed.

The massage itself was ok, but they are super predatory when trying to get you to sign up for a membership. And on top of that, they made it a hassle to cancel the membership and I had to send multiple emails to customer service to prevent any additional charges to my card. Would recommend that you stay away from these guys. Pretty shady in my opinion

Ambiance was amazing. Immediately immersed into low warm light and black everything. The industrial decor was very cool and the blacked out windows and curtains even in the lobby helped get you in the mood. My therapist’s communication was present and appreciated.

First time visiting Mellow Massage! I started to feel relaxed almost as soon as I walked through the door. I loved the dim lighting and soft music, and my therapist did a fantastic job identifying the points of tension in my body and working to loosen some of the knots. 10/10, I will visit again the next time I need a massage!

I have been seeing Tommy at Mellow Massage consistently since July of 2022. Tommy is passionate and full of wisdom in the holistic wellness field. He has helped me tremendously in body awareness and recognizing shifts/tensions in my body. Not only does he perform the actual sessions, but hes also provided feedback and exercises for me to do outside of the session to improve my overall physical health. My experience at Mellow Massage has truly been LIFE-CHANGING.Mellow Massage offers a monthly subscription, allowing you to book a 90-minute session for a fraction of the cost. It has been one of the best investments I made and a vital piece of my care tools.

I was excited to come back here, I’ve been to the downtown location and had an AMAZING experience. I’ve been dealing with a lot of stress and tension and was just looking forward to relaxing and time to myself. This location is very unprofessional, I can’t find the name of my my massage therapist any where but everything started out promising but he kept wanted to make conversation and of course I am not there to converse I am there to do the exact opposite. Then he kept having to walk away and sneeze I kid you not every 5 minutes. I understand things happen and I am a very laid back person usually but it was getting to the point where I was ready to just get up and walk out. The. to top it all off there was people either next door or in the lobby area being extremely loud which again this is supposed to be a relaxing experience. At once point In pretty sure some guy walk through the lobby door and said very loudly “ANYBODY HERE?” I am walking out with none of my tension gone and feeling even more anxious then when I walked in there.HOWEVER, I did vocalize my concerns and he did take off 20% of my service which was very nice and I appreciated the effort and the apology.

For context before I get into it: I booked a massage for me and my boyfriend for his birthday. I was intrigued by all of the amazing reviews so I went ahead and booked online. I asked if there was a chance we could have a couples room instead of the single room but it was not a deal breaker. I wanted to surprise my boyfriend and pay for it so I put my number and email down for both of us and even added cupping on both of our massages.Heres all the reasons for my 1 star:- I got SO MANY texts from different people at Mellow, I think 4 separate people reached out. They spam you a lot with the membership deals and other ways to upsell you, its annoying.- I never got cupping. My boyfriend did. Im not sure what happened.. but at least I wasnt charged for 2.- The massage was just bad. My masseuse would literally just shake random areas of my body that would shake the entire massage bed. It was so weird that I almost laughed. My boyfriend said they did the same for him.- My masseuse massaged my jaw which was genuinely really painful.- I was never asked if there were areas I wanted to focus the massage on or how hard/soft I wanted the pressure.- The atmosphere isnt relaxing.. I could clearly hear the pilates studio next door, every single word. The walls are crazy thin.- They moved our appointment time without asking. Offered a free upgrade so I chose aromatherapy, never got it though. They also told me a week before my apt that they couldnt do a couples room anymore.- I bought us memberships because it was cheaper and I was really hoping wed like the massages. Afterwards I sent an email saying the exact words please cancel me and my boyfriends memberships with all the details they needed. They proceeded to bombard me with emails begging for me to rethink it, after I didnt respond to one theyd email me again 20 minutes later. It was so strange. They confirmed cancelation and then I still got charged for a membership the next month because they only canceled my membership and not my boyfriends.- They had issues charging me while I was there and I had to put my card down again and they eventually said theyd have their office handle it later.- I always tip masseuses everywhere I go but I have to admit this tipping culture is getting out of hand. They had to verbally ask me for tip after already having issues charging my card and it felt very forced. Id rather they had a screen I could tap so I could select that myself.I honestly didnt want to put this review because I was worried about how much they were going to harass me with texts and emails again but getting charged after canceling my membership was the icing on the cake. I genuinely dont believe all of these 5 star reviews. Ive had better massages at places with a 3.5 star review.

Be very careful calling and expecting service from just Hillcrest. I called the number specifically listed for Hillcrest for a same day appointment, and they booked me for PB, but did not tell me the location was different. I found this out by text 15 minutes from the appointment time, while I was in Hillcrest at rush hour. There was no way I was going to get to PB in time. Called the line to address the issue, cancel the appointment and whatever trial I was roped into (though never signed anything) for it being an initial service, and get a refund. They agreed to refund the charge due to their error. Refund was never received, and now they just charged me again. Beware of scammy tactics.

I had the best massage of my life with Elijah. Perfect pressure. I work a stressful job and he was immediately tuned into the stress I keep in my shoulders/neck. He was appropriate and ensured I was comfortable.I highly recommend their services and specifically the Elijah.

Second review I am leaving… I saw Sam for the first time today and he was fantastic. He had a chill calm and caring energy that made me feel welcomed immediately. 10/10 recommend Mellow Massage and Sam!Vibe is set as soon as you walk in, living up to its name. Great customer service and the 60-minute deep tissue massage with Josh was exactly what I needed. Feeling relaxed, both mentally and physically!

Ive been going to Mellow for about a year now and love the experience! The staff is always friendly and helpful and the massages are fantastic. I see Kiri regularly and she always makes me feel relaxed and taken care of. She really addresses the areas of concern and makes sure I leave feeling better. Highly recommend Mellow Massage.

This place is the best, they have given me the best deep tissue massage I have ever had twice now. Would definitely recommend becoming a member as its much cheaper that way!

This place is a giant SCAM. DO NOT book, do not go. I called for a massage while in town. Booked an appointment for later that night, showed up and waited 15 minutes for them to cancel saying they had a scheduling problem. I asked them to cancel my card. They then charged the full amount of 109$ the very next day. When I called to dispute the charge the guy who answers refuses to accept that they charged me and hung up. THIS IS A SCAM!!!

My wife and I wanted to book a message session here so we called and immediately off the bat they became very invasive in terms of PII (Personally Identifiable Information). The booking itself wasnt an issue until they asked us for credit card information. They said it was required in order to book... this is the first red flag. He said if we are not comfortable giving out our credit card information we could book online so we agreed. We looked at the online intake form and immediately was put off by the need of again more PII. Requiring us to give our address and credit card information.What ever happened to the good old days when we could just book an appointment over the phone with our name and contact number.In the end we decided to try another massage place, one that wouldnt be so intrusive to our PII. These days you cant be too careful.

My go to massage stop, I always get an 80 minute restorative massage and feel amazing each time! I recommend Sara I’ve been going to her for a while now and she always gives me exactly what I need. I recommend if you’re looking for a massage studio in San Diego.

I have been going to mellow massage in Hillcrest for awhile now, it’s close to my house and convenient. I have been to many other massage parlors over the years, as I like to get a massage at least 1x a month. The vibe inside is nice and relaxing, they have made it a welcoming interior with light music, and low light. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experiences here. I have been able to get in to get a massage last minute, and have booked out now for a few months. I would recommend trying out this place is you want a great massage with excellent massage therapists that really know that they are doing. Every person I have seen has a keen awareness of the human body and work to your needs. I have recently started to see Josh while there, and he is excellent and works on the spaces where I have tension to help relax them. I have also been seeing Robert who has been great for really getting into the spots I feel tension and focusing on my problem areas. Overall would recommend this spot and the therapists there.

Ive been coming to Mellow since they opened a couple of years ago, I believe this location is the first, and its been nothing short of phenomenal! Tommy the manager here is just insanely good and you can tell hes dedicated to his craft! Ive occasionally seen some other therapists here, but Tommy is the man!!I love the membership too - they dont lock you into a contract like most other spas do. The credits dont roll over but they allow a friend or family to use the credit for no additional fee which to be honest is just amazing to me! Ive sent my mom in to use my credit a couple of times when I havent been able to make it, and I dont know how theyre making money this way! Regardless, Im all for it!Book an appointment here, if I could give 10 stars I would!!!

Not a great massage. Pilates studio next door was really loud and distracting. It didn’t seem like the person giving the massage knew what she was doing. There’s too many good massage places in the area to waste good money on a bad massage. I’m kicking myself for going there.

Ive now had two amazing massages by Joshua here at Mellow Massage Downtown San Diego. Ive been having massages for 30 years as I spend 10+ hours a day on a PC and work out 2-3 times as week, modeling on the side and my muscles are usually screaming by the time I get a massage. Joshua has an inate ability to locate trouble areas and then works them until they are subdued and normal. This man can untie the worst knots in muscles and make them go away. I gain mobility, painless mobility, after his massages, which is amazing. Joshua also has a very kind and attentive nature which is relaxing all in itself and just makes the whole experience a treat for the body and soul.

I researched from Lisbon, Lymphatic drainage massage in San Diego. Mellow Massage came up. At first , I was like, forget it, I had my fill of those giant nationwide chains, but I leaving for SD and thought ok, I will go once. WAS I EVER surprised. Mellow Massage was a fantastic environment that it so hands and and customer service oriented that really made me thankful I came. The therapist was amazing and exceeded all expectation. His knowledge, care, expertise and explanation of lymphatic massage, the lymphatic system, the necessity of the therapy was so professional, caring and right on that I confirmed 6 more sessions and if I was not going back to Europe in a couple weeks, Mellow Massage would be my place of choice and a major part of my health routine, even after the required lymphatic sessions were don. I highly, without reserve, recommend Mellow Massage and the staff. You will not be disappointed.

Robert is my go to massage therapist. He is excellent at identifying problematic areas and working them out. Each visit is tailored to my needs and not just a basic routine every time. He is extremally knowledgeable on the various muscle groups and how they all interconnect providing information on deferent stretches and home care products to help with my issues. Could not recommend him enough!

I have been going here for years. It is the only place I will ever go now. I have been across the country and this is the place. They truly care about your health and well being. They go above and beyond with at home remedies that are simple and very effective.

Tommy is incredible, much more than a massage therapist he is a great communicator and teacher to help you feel your best. Others at the Hillcrest have been great as well and the CBD massage is wonderful.

Just had a massage done at mellow with Celeste and it was sooo therapeutic and great she really helped with my bloating I did the lymphatic drainage massage. To top of off we even did breathing excercise which helped my body relax. Def recommend

Ive being going to Joshua since this location recently opened downtown. I currently body build and this guy knows every single spot that needs attention.Ive always had chronic pain and tension in my hamstrings, neck, and lower back and Joshua makes a miracle happen every single time. Ive been consistently sticking with him simply because hes helping me cure problems in my body that I have been dealing with for years.Ive been through many massage companies over the years and have always been offered to pay less to get a membership but I could never commit to anything unless it was perfect. Mellow Massage has been worth every single penny. Joshua is literally the needle in a hay stack, its hard to find someone as skillful as him.

Had a very pleasant massage with Caesar. I scheduled a 2 hour manual lymphatic drainage massage, but he was able to customize it to combine MLD and some sports massage for areas that were very tight.

Tommy and the staff at mellow Massage are phenomenal. They are always very peraonal and I cant imagine losing Tommy. He is amazing and I love the detail that he puts into recognizing my needs as well as healing all my injuries. I plan to book him for the rest of the year and the upcoming year. He is exceptional.

Best massage Ive had in years. Injured shoulder years ago and my massage therapist worked on and around the injury. Feels amazing. No hard sales here. Just inform you of some different massages they offer that might help if interested. Never felt the pressure to sign up for their packages like so many other massage locations do. Great customer service at front desk also.

My experience was fantastic. First impression the ambience was perfect, dark with very little light and super calming music. My massage therapist was very patient with me and he had a very calming vibe to him which made me feel very comfortable. Before he began he got to know me a little bit which would allow him to know what places he needed to target during my massage. Overall great experience and I can’t wait to go back!! :)

I’ve seen many different professionals here and they have all been very great and relaxing. A special shout out to Elizabeth who had me asleep during my deep tissue due to relaxation!

Robert Reif is an excellent massage therapist who I’ve been seeing for about a year. As a PT, I can say he has great manual therapy skills. Definitely recommend.

I had an incredible experience at Mellow for an 80-minute restorative massage. The treatment was top-notch (thank you, Kiri) and the ambience was very serene. Highly recommend!

I don’t know how more reviews aren’t complaining about the noise. This place shares a wall with a Pilates studio and it’s SO loud. I shortened my 80 minute massage to 50 minutes because of how distracting the noise was.

The first time I went it was good. But today I went in for a restorative massage and the bed honestly did not feel that clean, the pressure was way too much, I told the guy a couple times to use less pressure and I suppose he tried but I found out I got two bruises from the massage when I got home so he didn’t try that hard. Other than that scheduling with them is also kind of a gamble. The first time they canceled on me 10 minutes beforehand for a morning appointment that I woke up early for. I had to reach out to reschedule. This second time I went, I needed to reschedule last minute, so I called and tried to reschedule the day of, but they waited until after the appointment time to definitively say I could reschedule. I didn’t mind paying the late cancellation fee, but having to call them 4 times to reschedule was unreasonable

I signed up for the membership and canceled after two massages. They just seem very unorganized and not very experienced. I had to create my online account multiple times and it was never seem to be attached to my membership. They also scheduled my last massage for 60 minutes instead of 80 minutes, so I was really disappointed.

I was able to get an appointment last minute and Robert was very professional and the massage was amazing. The space was very relaxing and I love the dark ambiance. 10 out of 10 definitely recommend!

The massage therapists here are mostly great. The one star is for the way the business is run. I’ve had a membership for over a year, and was randomly informed during checkout that the prices were going up and that other terms of the membership were changing (i.e. no more rollover of unused monthly bookings).A note to the business owners: it’s more cost efficient and effective to retain current customers than acquire new ones. You clearly already had issues with employee churn, and this was a really bananas business decision. Yikes.

I went to Mellow Massage today and I must say that Amanda not only gives AMAZING therapeutic massages she is truly in tune with her clients. 💯

Every time I go to Mellow Massage I leave feeling so refreshed and relaxed. Cesar is really incredible and can always easily find the exact spots that need to be worked on. I always enjoy the attention to detail when adjusting various parts of the body and stretching based on what’s needed. My experiences are very therapeutic and I can’t wait to return!

Ok, love this place! Seriously one of, if not the best massage I’ve ever had. Paul was amazing, very specific, and knowledgeable. He targeted my problem areas, and even though it was a veryyy deep massage (I had a lot of knots), I knew it was what I needed. Atmosphere 10/10!

Josh C is a Godsend! I frequent Mellow Massage 1x a month as part of my recovery sessions. Josh performs a mix of deep tissue, stretching, and pressure point techniques during our 80 minutes together. I am an avid weightlifter, and boy, has he helped tone down my inflammation and pain, while simultaneously increasing my overall health and well-being. Highly recommend!

I have been a customer of Mellow Massage at their Hillcrest location for 8 months. I started massage as a part of physical therapy for a shoulder injury and I will continue with Mellow Massage, and have joined their membership program, because the massage alone is excellent therapy regardless of it resolving any medical issues. I have had two massage specialists in my 8 months and each has been professional, pleasant, and thorough. I have asked for deep hard massage to work through scar tissue and adhesion and each of the specialists has been excellent in addressing my needs and also in bringing issues they have found to my attention. I have no massage experience before Mellow Massage and therefore can offer no comparisons, but I do offer to any prospective clients that this is a very well-run and well-organized business that is able to find and retain good employees who know their craft and are attentive to their customers needs. Please give them a try, and you will happy that you did!

Just finished my second visit and both times have been great! Saw Veronica first and Julie second and they were both amazing. Very communicative and attentive and most importantly, I felt comfortable with them. Second visit was a reschedule because I missed my original appointment and cancelled last minute (which I know must have been infuriating because I deal with the same kind of stuff at my work) and they were very accommodating and professional which was so appreciated. Im on the Monthly Membership because when you run the numbers, its a no-brainer. Im typically the type who cancels/reschedules whenever I have a monthly membership type of thing, but Dorians work is so good that I have not canceled, and I count the days until my next session. He has a very pleasant, calm demeanor, listens well to whats going on with my body, and addresses the issues effectively. He isnt super chatty (thankfully), but does check in appropriately. I always leave feeling fixed and the effects of his massages last for days after the session, instead of just that day. Ive gotten massages regularly over the last 20 years at spas all over the world. Mellow Massage is a QUALITY establishment with therapists who are actually trained in different massage techniques, so they have an abundance of knowledge when it comes to how to heal your body. For the monthly membership, I think its a steal for the quality massage you get vs. other cheap places where all they do is rub oil on your body. If you are looking for a quality place thats clean, safe, and will actually help you bring balance to your body over the longer term, then Mellow Massage is your place!!

I was visiting the area and really struggling with back pain. I was able to get in for a stretching massage next day. The staff was so wonderful and made me feel at home. The massage was great. Marcus was able to work out the issues and give me advice on what to do going forward.

Best massage I’ve ever had. Bianca at the Hillcrest location was amazing and really got my shoulders to release like they never have before. I’ve never been one to splurge on luxurious things like a a massage, but I’ve come to realize the returns in the pain free life both in the ability to workout without pain, and to work during the day without stress or pain is worth 10x what the spend on the massage is. But then I was contacted by the owner who asked how my experience was and I was honest about not having enjoyed it. He assured me they would reach out to make it right and they have not. I’ve seen Dorian twice now, and have received a lot of massages in the past—he ranks among the best, if not THE best massage I’ve ever received.The facilities are extremely clean and relaxing (consistently too, as I’ve been there 4+ times now). Dorian is extremely knowledgable, patient, and professional. His calm demeanor and observational skills make this massage all the better. I went to Mellow Massage for the first time to do some proper relaxing the week of my wedding. Was seeing a chiropractor and added massage. This was the best decision I made. I am feeling better each visit. Each massage practitioner has been encouraging, knowledgeable and I have seen great results for my back, shoulder, neck and pectoral muscles. They are great listeners and give excellent feedback and suggestions for stretches to add to my repertoire.

My session went well! I didn’t know what to expect for my first session but did wish the swedish massage was a little more deeper tissue. I didn’t want my first massage in a long time to go straight into deep tissue to avoid soreness but I realized afterwards I did need deep tissue. I also had some anxiety around whether or not the CBD massage oil I booked for my session was being used, it would have calmed my thoughts if I was assured and clarified this was being used before the session rather than me realizing I wasn’t sure and double checked with the masseuse in the middle of it. Otherwise my massage therapist and I had some good conversations and it was a very nice massage. He analyzed my current imbalances and mobilities in my body that needed work and I appreciated that.

I have seen Kiri three times now and she like Lloyd is helping me make progress back into being a healthier person. I recommend both of the highly!

I was given a gift certificate to Mellow massage, and I’m am so thankful for it! I don’t know how I lived without this place! You first walk in and it’s like stepping into a different world! A relaxing dark lighting with calming music. The room was very clean and smelling nice. The table is heated, and you could just feel how nice the clean sheets were on the table. The wet towels they use to wrap my hands and feet were not just warm, but a HOT towel in the best way. It felt amazing. I did a 90 min CBD with Dustin, and I very much enjoyed every bit! I recommend this place and I will definitely be going back!

From the moment I walked in, I felt a sense of relaxation with the ambiance they have created. I called to make an appointment a week out, and asked the receptionist to recommend someone that could offer a really great DEEP tissue massage. She was very helpful, and after naming a few therapists, there was one that worked with my availability. Enter in Dorian, the man with the healing hands! You can tell that Dorian has a passion for his work and really cares about healing the body. He suggested stretches I do at home, and was always checking in on how I was doing throughout the massage. I have officially found my massage therapist for all future bookings, in which I booked a 90 minute before I left - thats how good he was! Ive been seeing Lloyd at the Hillcrest Mellow Massage for almost a year now and he is the best massage therapist Ive ever had. Hes able to work out painful knots and sooth my achy back and shoulders. First let’s start out that parking was not an issue at this location because it shares the large parking lot and parking garage with the shopping center. As soon as you walk into the door you feel at peace. Their ambiance is calming with dim lighting and blacked out windows, calming music, and essential oils. The bathroom was very clean, decorated well to fit their theme, and smelled nice. My massage was top tier! I get professional massages every three weeks at other spa’s and high end hotels regularly. What drew me to this location was that they offered a two hour deep tissue massage for a very good price point. My massage therapist, Julie Criner was very intuitive and professional when it came to my needs and trouble spots. She recommended stretches I can do and before leaving I scheduled another appointment with her in my routine three weeks. I’ve been searching for a long time to find my new local location and massage therapist, I’m very pleased with the work she did and will definitely continue to keep coming back.

Mellow Massage is the place to go for a relaxing and therapeutic experience. I’ve been going there since it first opened its doors in Hillcrest. Tommy is awesome!! I have referred several friends/family his way (enough to form a fan club!) and all can’t say enough good things about him. He shares his abundance of knowledge, and skillfully works through knots/fascia to enable recovery/healing. I had a massage here about one month ago. I was pretty impressed with how experienced Tommy was. However, I felt like the entire time he was trying to sell another session with me. He also commented a couple times on my footwear and how I need to replace my shoes. It felt a little preconceived. While I enjoyed the overpriced massage, I dont think I will be back.

I picked this place because I really liked the aesthetic in their photos and was not at all disappointed upon arrival. I felt relaxed just walking into reception. My massage therapist, Lloyd, was fantastic; very kind and pleasant, told me what he found after working on me, gave some suggestions, and most importantly, he put the meaning into deep tissue massage. I told him to go full strength and was not disappointed. I am sore today, but thats to be expected. The receptionist was very lovely as well, and I was able to get a same day appointment! Im visiting from another state, but if I ever find myself in San Diego again, I will definitely return!

You walk in and are immediately relaxed with the low lighting, soft tones, and ambiance in Mellow! Ive been twice now, first with Lorena and then with Dorian and they were both incredible! So knowledgable about their practice, they communicated well with me making sure they were tailoring the massage to my needs and left me feeling restored and rejuvenated! Horrible experience, painful at the start. I told him to go light and do a relaxing massage. He did buy it was awful. Kept breaking contact to reach for the hot stones which where too hot. He did short strokes , felt uninspired and couldn’t wait for it to ne over. My husband’s experience was similar and he has noice from a break room during his. His therapist also used short strokes feeling unintentional. I emailed them with this information only to be ignored. Go to the haven collective in South Park !

Probably the best massage Ive gotten in San Diego. It was the first time the practitioner, Sierra, actually read what i wrote down on the entry form and we had a discussion about the details. Sierra is passionate about helping people and she understands anatomy and how our muscles interact with each other which informs her flow and i felt that. Ive had too many practitioners that do not care and have no agenda, but it seems like Mellows employees are like Sierra

Best experience with a masseuse Ive had to date. Michael clearly fills a very unique roll in his profession. He understands Anatomy and Physiology at a high level and caters to high level athletes and people whose jobs are physically demanding. In over 10 years of training this was the best rehab and recovery experience Ive had.

I am new to San Diego and looking for a new massage therapist. Mellow is great. The spa is very inviting and relaxing. My therapist John was great. He really helped flushed the tension in my back out and made ensured pressure and I was comfortable.

Husband said massage was good. But they canceled my appt 10 minutes before scheduled time. I understand emergencies happen, but we drove 1.5 hours for this appt and was really disappointed they only gave my husband $20 off for the inconvenience. If we would have canceled 10 minutes before, we would have had to forefit 50% percent of the total. For this reason, we likely will not return.Update.... manager contacted us immediately after I posted this review and accommodated us for the inconvenience. She was apologetic, polite, and very professional. Mellow massage actually reads these reviews and did strive to right the wrong. Thank you greatly.

The best massage experience I’ve had in a long time!!! My husband made the appointment for me and put in a bunch of notes and ordered me a lymphatic drainage massage… My therapist Celestra listened to all of the notes and made sure that was the right massage for me before we began. She made sure to make me feel comfortable and at ease the whole time. It was my first lymphatic drainage massage so she explained the process and what I’d feel over the next few days, as well as how to care for myself to see optimal results. It was my birthday (my husband put it in the notes) and everyone was so kind about it! Even got an extra neck massage which has made me a true believer in Celestra. That extra 15 minutes helped me realize how important massage therapy is in a self care routine and Ill be back on a regular basis. They’ve got a customer for life!

I hate to write this review because its already hard to get an appointment but they really do deserve it. I had a pretty gnarly injury thats taken months to recover from and I owe a large part of that recovery to Mellow and especially Dorian. The space itself is super clean and inviting and having a therapist who gets to know you and your trouble spots and takes the time to work on a plan with you to get you up and running again is invaluable. I was never much of a massage person until this injury but given how much I work out I cant believe I waited this long to make this part of my recovery especially given how much Dorians work has contributed to my healing. I hear nothing but good things from other friends who have worked with other therapists here as well. You should definitely check them out. Just dont take all my appointments 😀

I have gone to Oscar twice now and will continue going to specifically him because he is that good. I would give him a 100% tip if I could afford to! The ambience in the front lobby is so relaxing when you first walk in!! The rooms were dark & calming, and Alyssa K. worked out so many of my knots and tension in my neck and shoulders. The only downside is the rooms on West side seem to share a wall with a Pilates or yoga studio, because I could hear the instructor the whole time. That was a little distracting, but overall my experience was great!! Will return. :)

I’ve been feeling stressed with moving to San Diego recently and had a lot of tension in my body. I Googled massage San Diego and this place popped up with amazing reviews, and it turned out very well for me. It was my first CBD massage and it really helped me relax. Tristan (Trystan?) was very good at applying my preferred amount of pressure and regularly checked in. The ambiance was very relaxing with mood/low lighting, diffusers, and calming music. Also, I have sensitive skin and moderate-severe eczema and my skin didn’t react to the product they used, which is a plus for me being worried about having an adverse reaction with different oils/products. I scheduled a follow up for a month from now, and will only be getting massages here tbh. .

I was deciding between seeing a sports therapist or a massage therapist to address a lingering pinch in my shoulder blade and to get race-ready for a Spartan Race. Well I made the right choice! In 90 minutes, Dorian got rid of the pinch that was bothering me for over a month, and worked on some other problem areas that developed from overcompensation due to an ankle injury. I will definitely be back for pre- and post- race massages and for any other pinches or tweaks in between!

I had a really great massage here! Staff was very nice, but more important the massage was technically well done but also in a low key environment. Will definitely come back!

Celine was my therapist today. Didn’t go very well as I feel she wasn’t gentle enough with her touch and felt inexperienced.Also i did not like the fact that I had to say what gratuity tip I will give in front of my therapist. Unprofessional.Edit: I was refunded the full amount for the massage
