Side bar is by far my favorite club in San Diego! The music is always great and they have the coolest events! Andra is an amazing server! And Ree always takes good care of us! I’ve spent my birthday here for the past two years and they have made both very memorable! Obviously will be returning! P.S. the side burgers are to die for!
They are racist. Had an experience last night and they really need to take care of their bar . The manager Zander is nice but of course he was defending his bouncer .
A must-go night out spot with friends when you are in Gaslamp. Megan is the superstar. She made sure our group had a fun/lit night. Hit her up if you are thinking of table services.
I have had the pleasure of experiencing Megans exceptional bottle service on multiple occasions, and I cant say enough about her dedication to making every visit unforgettable. Megan consistently goes above and beyond to ensure my friends and I have the best time. Her attention to detail and friendly demeanor make her an invaluable asset to Side Bar. This place takes your nightlife experience to a whole new level. The second you walk through those doors, youre instantly immersed in an atmosphere of fun and excitement. The lively energy, the beats of the music, and the overall vibe guarantee that every visit is nothing short of fantastic. If you want a top-notch bottle service experience, ask for Megan – shes a true star!
As out-of-town visitors, we were looking for somewhere to go after we had a later dinner on Saturday the 11th. We found Side Bar after a quick google search and were enticed by the good reviews and the decor. We walked up to the door at 11 and went straight in after a quick purse check. Honestly, we were a little apprehensive about going somewhere that had a club feel to it as we’re now in our mid-30’s but everyone was extremely friendly, and there was a broad mix of people younger and older than us. Some were dressed in jeans while others had full on club wear on. It took us a minute to realize there was a club in the back and not just the bar in the front. The drinks were fairly priced for the type of venue and the service was quick. The male bartender working the back was so professional and accommodating, as we ordered expensive shots and he confirmed we were comfortable paying the price before he proceeded to pour and charge us. We really enjoyed the male DJ who played a mix of songs that we older millennials knew and the floor was dancing the whole night. It was full but never uncomfortably so and the air circulation was good—not horribly sweaty and stuffy. Even the bathrooms were decently maintained, with two sets (one in front and one in back). The bottle girls were so fit and stunning and didn’t seem stuck up like many are. We had a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to come back next time we’re in town. Thanks for helping us old ladies feel young again.
Went to Side Bar over the weekend for my husbands birthday and it was an amazing experience! We enjoyed their bottle service table side and the staff took such good care of us. The manager Frankie and VIP host Ree were on point. Even the body guards and bussers made sure to deliver that VIP experience. Dj Scene was there and played perfect music for a night of dancing. Great ambiance. Definitely recommend!
Hands down the most elegant venue with the most professional staff! The nightclub that opens at 10 PM is an incredible experience! The new remodel they just finished brings this place to a whole new level. Definitely going to be a new regular spot for me. The bartenders are on point and the ambiance is something money cant buy!
Wouldn’t let us in because we have shorts. 3 guys and all the girls in there had booty shorts on 😂😂😂
We got a table for our Play Hard Heels team and received phenomenal service! The music and atmosphere was electric; the bottle service girls and boys were very well dressed and lighting was perfect! Even after our showcase, we wanted to dance our butts off!
If you want to hear the worse music ever go there
A good time. Musics good. Outside area to smoke. Dance floor is a bit squished if you don’t have bottles. Not really an area to dance. Overalls. Great place in SD for a night out. Earl, the bouncer said place gets packed even on weekdays. For bottle service too. Come for a good time. They charge cover too
There is cover for this place. Unless you meet people outside of this place that are called “Wranglers” they walk you in or give you free drink ticket comp. This place has two sections and it’s a small place. This place is right next to Bang Bang. It gets pretty pack though for a small place. By the way, if you want to see more of my adventures! Went to side bar last weekend with my dance company Play Hard Heels to celebrate our showcase - had such a great experience! Friendly bottle service, quick regular bar service, and clean bathrooms. 10/10 recommend!!
Tried this place following a referral and it did not disappoint. If you want to avoid cover on a weekend night, enter before ~ 10 PM. DJ starts popping around 10:30 and then it’s just jam packed after then. There are 2 rooms - 1 in the back with a DJ and booths that can be rented for table service and 1 in the front which also has the same booths but not rented out. The music can be heard all throughout the place so if you want your own space and distancing, stay in the front part. Otherwise, you can experience how it feels to be a sardine in a can in the back room.
One of the best places to ever do it in the Gaslamp. Definitely a good time. Also close to a lot of other places downtown if youre looking for a night out.
Much better places to hit in Gaslamp. Rude employees and just overall horrible experience. Weak drinks as well especially for the price
Do your research before picking this place!! If you’re not planning on getting table service and you’re in your 20s I would not recommend this place. Also I couldn’t find this info online so if you’re curious how much the cover fee is on the weekends, it’s $20
My friends and I rung in the New Year last night here. We had a wonderful time. The only problem was our coats were misplaced by the staff and miscommunication with coat check in. However, the new manager and security were very attentive and sympathetic to my concerns and displayed genuine interests. They made sure I was taken care of and contacted me the next day they had found my friend’s coats. I highly recommend this place to anyone that are seeking a fun and safe night out in downtown San Diego. The staff are very friendly, the music is awesome, and the drinks are well made and not overly expensive. Definitely a place worth to check out.
This is the best spot in downtown - great music, strong drinks, and everyone is vibin. The dance floor is always going off and the lounge is there if you need to kick back for a few. Theres an outdoor area if you need some air and when the night is over, pizza is right next door.
Fun nightclub / disco / bar. Space is great, let you dance on booths. Music can get a bit too hardcore rap at times. I personally could do without the bottle girls wearing lingerie (I am a straight male) as for me its a bit strip club like. But seems to be the trend these days...
San Diegos hottest club for hip-hop! The decor is amazing, the staff are friendly and professional! This is a bar also, so the drinks are on point. The DeeJays keep the place jumping! Dress to impress and get there early!
Came here as a tourist visiting. All I can say is tourist like me who like to have some fun in an upscale place, well don’t come here. Yes the set up is nice and upscale but that’s where it begins and ends. Think they over hype it up. Drinks were sooooo very water down. I don’t mind paying extra for a nice drink, but don’t be cheating me....thank you, next. (3 stars for the DJ).
Bars are not much my scene to be in but outside of that I still feel it was a nice venue with good music and vibes. I do advise not to wear a ball cap as they change another 20 to wear inside. Beyond that $20 cover fee. Enjoy hope this was helpful.
We went and saw maximono on a night out. The artist wasnt matching the vibe of the crowd very well and there were a lot of guys in the club. The cover was $15 and I wasnt that impressed. I still had a decent time but i would attribute that to a good pregame.
Really like this place. Ive been twice so far. The service is great. I love going just before it turns into a night club to lounge in their comfortable seats. The drinks are great and so is the food.
Thomas provides the utmost genuine and thoughtful service Sidebar could have. His exquisite taste of unique well balanced drinks is further accented by his gracious and passionate nature. The Sidebar team is fortunate to have a colleague of that caliber. Absolutely smashing service. Also Zander does a splendid job of managing security at the door and goes beyond the call of duty to provide a safe environment for patrons, all with a calm and respectful presence.
The discrimination of gender and ethnicity displayed by this so called business is absolutely outrageous. If there was a way that I could give this place no stars, I would. A promoter gave me a card that specifically advertised no cover for myself and a guest from 5pm-10pm. My friends and I decided to go check it out since the promoter did so well at his job. When we arrived we got in line and waited for about 15 minutes. When my group got to the front of the line, they separated us. They took my two young pretty girl friends from our group and let them go in first accepting the no cover card. When myself and my guy friend, who were right behind our two friends tried to get in using the same card, the security and the cashier denied us entrance, stating that they no longer accepted the card after 7 pm contrary to what the card clearly stated. This is a prime example of FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. So they allowed entry to two young pretty white girls free of cover but they were charging my Hispanic guy friend and myself, a lesbian Latina female $20 each for cover. Not to mention there was also a group of African American girls disputing with the security because they were being denied entry to the club when they were letting all the other pretty white girls in. I am appalled with the discrimination and racism that management allows to go on at this establishment. I have a friend who just so happens to be a business lawyer in LA county, I might just have to have him swing by this place with me sometime. Horrible customer service and very rude staff. Management should seriously consider hiring a new staff and readjust their policies, or they can expect going out of business, or having a very serious law suit on their hands. Im surprised they are still in business. If you want to have a good time, dont go here!
If you want to overpay for drinks in a mediocre environment with God-awful service, Sidebar might just be the place for you. I was there with friends on what should have been a pretty fun Wednesday night. After paying the outrageous $20 cover, I ordered a $16 LI iced tea (which wasnt bad, so if you ignore my review and head there anyway, try one). Then I ordered a round of well tequila, only to be surprised by bartender and presented with $12.25 shots of Patron. A sly maneuver on her part, but a terrible move from a service standpoint, so I closed the tab and left no tip. I was surprised when I got my bank statement to find that she had given herself a little token of appreciation on my credit card. Needless to say, I wont return, and I hope you save yourself a trip there as well.
I wanted to quickly head in & wish a friend a happy Brithday, I got to the front of the line at 11.01 ( no exaggeration) & was told there’s a $10 cover after 11. I literally wanted to go in for 1 drink to wish my fiend a happy birthday, the rest of the crew arrived 5 minutes prior. It’s not so much the cover, I don’t mind paying a cover charge but if you’re going to insist on cash only you’re going to lose customers. I was told “there’s an ATM down there” so for turning up a minute past 11 when the rest of my friends were inside I was told to walk a couple blocks to an ATM to get in when not only 5 minutes prior the rest of my group got in for free. In the end my friend came out with $10 for me & as I said I would only have 1 drink & then left. Door policy needs updating & think about accepting cards at the door it’s only 2018 I promise you’ll get more people through the door with this tiny investment. Door man, absolute muppet, as usual power gone to his head.
SideBar is a poor excuse for a night club. More like a wannabe. I gave it one star as it wont post with zero. Its so small. Looks crowded as they keep the back closed until the little front is totally cramped. Besides a huge cover at the door, one must pay more for a place to sit down. Not a table or chair unless you cough up a hefty fee. Lots of empty seating as all of it is roped off with reserved signs. And the bouncers rudely enforce.Drinks are quite expensive and watered down. I tasted no liquor in mine at all. Ive never paid so much for a glass of ice & sprite. The dance floor is actually the walkway around the bar so all you can do is stand in one spot and shake a little. They had one entertainer that was supposed to dance on the bar or in the window but she was too busy playing with her storm trooper helmet. The fog machine is in the ceiling. Not a bad touch unless you are standing under it when it goes off. I had to pick white stuff out of my hair and off of my clothes plus i got wet from just one blast. There are LOTS of nicer, less expensive clubs in the Gaslamp area. Stay away from SideBar. It should be called The Money Pit or for the owners The Cash Cow! The people that work there and the management are just plain rude. Ill NEVER go back.
We visited Side Bar the Friday night of Spring CRSSD 2019 for the Hood Politics Family Affair party. The music and club were quite fun with impressive lighting and club aesthetics for a smallish venue in San Diego. I would say the club felt a lot more Vegas than Berlin overall. The bottle service girls were very scantily clad to the point my female friends were questioning why such small outfits were even allowed in this day and age at a club as its pretty unnecessary. Overall kind and professional staff with decent prices, Id likely return.
Such a great bar I love to go there and hang out with my friends in the first battalion you should join the first Battalion can’t wait to see them again once they reopen
Cool place to socialize and meet outher people. The drinks are decently priced and is great for table service.Security is on point and the women there are attractive for the modern male.
Love this place. Small and intimate. Always beautiful people here. Drinks are pricey, but hey it is a very fun spot.
The club is fire but the DJ kills the vibe. Its getting hard to convince my friends to keep coming back 😕
Very small trashy bar. I was at the four with my buddies and a guy suck punched me from behind. The security came over and kicked everybody out including people that were just in the area. They manhandled to women and left them with bruises. Sidebars policy is anybody in the area gets kicked out. Its dirty its tiny its full of trash dont go.
Justin Jones was our bartender and yes its crowded but he made us feel so welcomed we really had fun!
Best bar/nightclub in San Diego, hands down. Classy and attractive clientele. Excellent sound system. Phenomenal ambiance.
We came in from out of town, but had a great time! Staff was very attentive! Met with Bard(?), who was very nice! - Oak Park lady.
Great place. Went here for free so no clue about the prices hut the staff are friendly and the food is pretty great! Pretty good venue for gathering professional associations.
Came here to pick a friend up after they refused to give her back her real driver license because they claimed it was counterfeit. Was forced to bribe the bouncer in order to get it back because the nonemergency police line was busy and she uses her car for work. Filing a police report. There literally job is to be able to tell which IDS are real and which are fake, and confiscating an ID as a civilian or rent a cop is illegal unless they turn it directly over to the police. Which they had no plans to, as they told her she could pick it up on Monday if it was real. Idiots.
Great staff that took well care of our bachelorette party! They went above and beyond. Vibes were amazing!
Chris and Brandon were amazing! Some of the most amazing hospitality I’ve ever experienced. What a pleasure!
Sidebar is always a fun time when youre with a good crowd. I prefer to go with friends as this place gets crowded as there is only standing room available on busy nights.
Some of the best burgers I have ever had! Reminded me of 1st Battalion line battles always perfect!
Very chill atmosphere love coming to this place everytime I visit my brother...but plan ahead get on the guest list!!
Really fun! Good music, cool atmosphere. Bartenders we really attentive and nice.
Sidebar is the best when it comes to hospitality and making your night a memorable one. Great service and vibe ! You should definitely give it a try.
Was here on a Friday, they get really packed, but had open bar until 11pm for women (Grey Goose). Good crowd and good music
We partied at Sidebar last night.. I hadnt been here for a minute. This place was siiiick. Music killed it, service was cool and the girls serving are hotties.
This bar man was the rudest person I have ever met. I got charged 22 dollars the 1st round . He charged me 28dollars and kept the change. Thief.....
Absolutely delicious food, beautiful girls, and a friendly owner/staff turned my vacation around in a night.
Cool spot. Just outside the heart of the Gaslamp. If you are a group of females or a dude with a bunch of females, bypass the line and you should be able to get right in.
Went there one night, security soiled my drink , and they overcharged my card so i had to go through painful process of having credit card company follow up with them. do not waist ur time or money here, this place is a joke
DONT GO!! They charged me $20 to get inside they are crooks. There is plenty of other places to go dont come here!
Good place to go party the night away a bit too packed not much room to dance. Good music.
So much fun! Dancing, amazing dj, and even Santa! Only con was drink pricing - a bittttt high.
Nice bar and cool drinks, we had an event over here and the DJ is amazing!!
It was real nice! Great atmosphere. Kind of small but definitely fun!
Super lit night club, love the interior, played great music, and they have a decent amount of seating when you get tired from all the dancing!
A great night spot. Fun vibe excellent staff and top notch security.
Sidebar is the place where everybody knows your name. Where everybody is glad you came. Highly recommend this venue to anyone who likes to party.
Great dance floor. Expect a crowd and a line. Bottle service was an unexpected treat!
It was packed, the environment was fun and it was lit.
Not bad, but the place is way to small to enjoy, they are much better spot downtown.
Always a fun time with great music. They recently remodeled and it looks great.
Great location for meeting with friends and colleagues. Laid back atmosphere helps as well.
Great music and a nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back again!!
Not too bad of a place but if the back is closed it can get packed. $10 cover on weekends
Monica @ side bar, has been the reason this place is still on the map. I love this girl and the establishment
Very nice place, good music, good security, no discrimination...
One star less for overpriced wine. $32 (with tip) for two glasses of Coppola.
Excellent service
Great music, fun people and awesome bartenders and staff!
Newly remodeled, turned out great. Cool spot good drinks.
Nice atmosphere and people. The owner was generous and accommodating.
Poor service and lack of security, not safe or fun around bar close especially. Not recommended.
Pleasantly bustling early and late on a Saturday night. Timely mixed drinks and shots, considering.
This place is a nightmare to deal with. They will charge extra for drinks if they think they can get away with it as well as kicking people out if they are questioned.
The átmosphere is pleasant, but the food is not a big deal for high prices
Good selection of whiskey and got a great markers mark old fashioned here.
Had a great time here for some late night clubbing during the week!
Nice place to hang out after work. Long into the wee hours of the morning.
Terrible service, the bartenders drink as much as the patrons. Overcrowded
Small dance areas, DJs are really good. Nice place
Good service for the private party I attended.
Great place to go out with a large group of people. Great sevice!
Great place. 10/10 would accept weed from owner again.
Good music, nice atmosphere loved this place!
Bad place don’t go for it, they asked me to pay $300 to get in.
Depending on the night youll have a variety of popular and unknown music and drink prices that tend to be on the up.
The new layout is nice and the staff is lovely as can be!
Great place to drop by if you havent been to the Gaslamp
This night club was very popular and I had a good time.
Great place for a night out with friends or to meet someone fun.
Hey nice club. I liked the bottle service.
Great music, but small and kind of shabby.
The meat and cheese plate and the drinks are excellent!
Watered down drinks that are really expensive
Small spot but really fun to dance at!
Great place to take some drinks in SAN DIEGO
Great atmosphere, music is ok
Over crowded. Drinks arent that great. Too many old people.
The best place for Industry Wed and Sunday Funday
Very nice crowd and great service.
Ok Vibe drinks are too expensive for the ambiance
Private reception with excellent food and service.
Beautiful interior! Great staff!
Very nice place at night time.
Great vibe, great music, great people!
Nice atmosphere and great staff.
Tight, crowded, a little too much for me.
Good quiet place for a quick drink.
Fascinating place in gaslamp. - @ MARIOONASSIS
Love Sidebar! The staff is the dopest!
Typical gaslamp bar. Nothing special
Try it. Youll be won over.
