Knots in Knead

This is a great hidden gem in my neighborhood! The facility is adorable and fun. The rooms are clean and super comfortable. My massage therapist, Daniel Hibbs, is incredibly skilled and I always leave there feeling amazing. I highly recommend this facility for your massage needs!

I decided to get a membership here as a treat for 2024. Best decision Ive made. I cannot recommend Daniel enough. I was a little anxious, but hes very kind (and funny!) and put me at ease immediately. Im also very bendy, so its hard for me to get a good stretch sometimes, but Dan is the best so I always leave feeling like Jello (in a good way). 12/10.

My dad had a fantastic massage with Daniel. He was very kind, took his time, and provided soothing relief for my dads bad back. We appreciate the wonderful experience and have already scheduled another appointment with Daniel. Thank you for taking such good care of him!

I’ve been coming to this place for over a year now and I have had multiple massage therapists. They are all amazingly talented. The membership plan is easy and affordable. I’ve been seeing Jessica recently and she really feels for where you need it the most.

Knots in Knead is a hidden gem of a place in an average little shopping strip. Once inside, its a lovely, welcoming retreat you wont want to leave. Theres even a cozy room to relax before or after your treatment complete with massage chairs and snacks. Daniel is an amazing intuitive massage therapist, one of the best Ive met in many years. The facialists are top notch and I highly recommend signing up for a monthly package where you get a massage or facial ( or both!) at incredibly affordable rates.

Jessica is a wonderful and attentive masseuse. She can tell with areas are tight/knotted, and really focuses on those areas. Her massage room is always a nice temperature, the bed is always comfortable, and the music is always relaxing. Jessica herself also has a very calm demeanor, which makes it very easy to relax. 10/10 recommend

If you are looking for a real and thoughtful massage that is therapeutic, unfortunately that was not my experience here. I hate to write this review but since this is a highly reviewed place I felt like I needed to share my experience. My message therapist was very sweet and definitely tried, it just really wasnt what I was use to. It wasnt relaxing and I didnt find any relief in my muscles/knots. I found a Groupon and took a chance, at least now I know to stick to my usual person.

I see Daniel monthly for an 80 minute massage. He does deep tissue, Thai, and stretch (maybe more?)... and all expertly. I have chronic lower back tightness with some other leg issues too, and he handles it all with care, but has the strength to dig into the tough areas. He mixes it up every time but does what my body is needing that day. Ive seen many massage therapists and Daniel is easily the best.

April gives the very best massages. Her technique and pressure is perfect! She really knows where and how to tackle the trouble spots. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting or needing an excellent massage!

Disclaimer: I get both massages and facials at this location. I am a member, and I dont forsee myself ending my membership anything soon because consistency is lovely. I actually might upgrade from 50 minutes to 80 minutes because the need is there.Anyway. So, the massages. I LOVE my visits with Daniel. He is an absolute gem. He is my first male masseuse, and honestly, I am so happy that we got paired together because I feel so safe/comfortable, and I feel so much better after every visit. Ive been seeing him for 4-5 months? Something like that.Daniel is such a smart guy, and he is very knowledgeable about the body and the ways in which things connect. He does deep tissue, thai, stretch, and maybe more? Either way, he is very attentive and very considerate of the pressure you are comfortable with, and he will check in if you react or feel any pain. No one massage is the same, and we work together to establish what the plan is going to be the day of. Daniel will ask me what I want to work on for the day, and hes flexible when it comes to making adjustments if new spots come up during the massage. Additionally, he has taught me little tricks to do at home when I want to massage myself while we wait for our next appointment.Off topic, but on topic, I really enjoy the atmosphere and the vibe when I go into his room. The music, when we play music, is always great, and the conversation is always fun and consistent. I genuinely feel like he cares about my day and whats going on in my life, and I feel comfortable asking questions in return.To me, having good rapport with the professional I am working with is super important, especially when I trust them with something as key as my health. I have had a slew of injuries since 2018, and I have been in and out of doctors and physical health professionals offices consistently since then, so having someone reliable and trustworthy matters.Now the facials. So, right now, I am seeing Claudia. She is great! When I scheduled my first appointment, I was very transparent regarding the run around I had gone through with all the suggestions beauty stylists would give me at Ulta regarding what type of skin I had and the products I used. When she asked me what my goals were regarding my face, I had no idea what to tell her beyond, I want to establish some routine and figure out my actual skin profile. That was all she needed to move forward with me.My first session was super easygoing and informative. Claudia explained the products she used and what they did, and she walked me through the entire facial, answering any questions I had. She made suggestions based on what she saw under the light, and she gave me samples to take home!Ive only gotten two facials with Claudia, but she is very pleasant, and I enjoy my visits with her and the atmosphere of her room as well. She is very relatable, and she is honest regarding her suggestions and her experiences that led her to be where shes at.I really enjoy both team members I work with and am happy with the services I have received so far. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to create a self-care routine.Parking is available. Depending on what time you go, thatll determine whats open... but I usually find street parking just fine in the morning and late afternoon. This is an appointment only location, but appointments are super easy to set!

Always an amazing experience! I’ve been getting facials with Giselle for almost a year now. She is my facial bestie! Always making me feel at ease and checking in to make sure I am 100% comfortable. My skin thanks her! I just started work with Khyran and it hurt so good! I had shoulder surgery and he did some kind of magic that has helped my mobility plus worked out upper back neck. Haven’t felt this relaxed and pain free in forever. Highly recommended!

Dan is a very intuitive massage therapist and has great energy. He learned Thai massage in Thailand. He did a phenomenal job.

Everyone I spoke with at Knots in Knead was nice, but this was the most painful facial Ive ever had. The extractions felt like they were never ending and were so uncomfortable. It has been days since I had the facial and I still have scabs/cuts on my face from the extractions. I left disappointed and with more blemishes on my face than I came with. Would not recommend for facials. 2/5.Update: Knots in Knead reached out to me for a complimentary redo with a different esthetician. Claudia was very professional, nice, and knowledgable. Her facial was relaxing, the extractions were not painful, and my face was clear afterwards. Updating my review to 4/5.

This was my first time going to this place for a facial and as a person with a medical background I was very particular about who worked on my face. Claudia was my esthetician and she did an amazing job with my facial. I signed up for the monthly membership.

Got a Groupon to try this place. Went with a bad stiff neck. I requested firm touch. April was awesome and really worked on the knots in my back and neck. Felt so so good. I recommend.

Decided to try this place because I lived half a mile away at the time, and Im so glad I did! I am a monthly member and everyone here is always so awesome. I have had both massages and facials, and it is always the highlight of my month. Even though I moved farther away, I will still make the drive to get here.

Their therapists are extremely well trained, way above average. Between my husband and I weve seen 3 different therapists. Their techniques are very effective, incorporating athletic training aspects and holistic care. Vibe is very relaxing, beautiful, clean. They offer great monthly package deals too!

Claudia is kind, amazing and does a great job waxing. I recommend her 100% of the time.

Daniel is the best massage therapist, he has healing hands and will fix you up in 50 min but I do 80min. LOVE HIM!

I discovered this location in late 2020 through a Groupon. I have been a monthly member ever since. This place is amazing! Both facials and massages with any staff member have been so relaxing. The decoration is beautiful and my skin is always glowing! Even my husband gets his facials here now. I would recommend this hidden gem to anyone in San Diego.

I will definitely recommend this place. Daniela was amazing. I brought my 73 year old grandmother to have a full body massage because she was complaining about body pain and Daniela made a miracle. Grandma came so happy and relaxed. Daniela is very sweet person and an excellent professional. The owner (Jessica if im not mistaken) was very pleasant and helpful also. Thank you all. Monthly member here. Ive had both massages and facials at Knots in Knead and I can truly say that everyone on staff is a professional! Great experiences every time I come. The membership is a great way to schedule yourself some self-care every month.Shout out to Daniela, the massage therapist I really resonate with. She has an intuitive sense of the muscles and skeleton, and works hard to make sure your massage is perfect. She listens to you, adjusts her pressure and technique, and really cares about her craft.Giselle is my esthetician and shes great too. Her recommendations are spon on, and she is so gentile with extractions. Absolutely the best experience I have ever had, getting a massage. From start to finish. Daniela was amazing and it was the most calming, relaxing massage where I left genuinely feeling lighter mentally and physically refreshed. I’ve been going to Jessica when she first started Knots in Knead by herself, and seeing how her business expanded is heartwarming. I love coming to Knots in Knead for my self-care needs and I would definitely recommend Knots to anyone. Don’t let the building or location fool you, but the aesthetics inside is a whole new world.

All of my necessary needs are all in one place! Claudia, is amazing with the Brazilian and Vajacial, i highly recommend! My body worker was also amazing, i was sore the next day but the next day I felt so much relaxed and less tense. Haven’t felt this relaxed in a long time. Love this spot!

I’ve been coming here for over a year and absolutely love it! So clean, the rooms are so pretty with the decorations and the staff is very friendly. I get my massages with Jessica and facials with Kaylei and absolutely recommend them. The memberships are extremely well priced and easy to book, it’s my dedicated self-care time each month.

Love this place! The aesthetic is very cute and you can tell a lot of care went in to putting this place together. The monthly membership is a great deal! Recently I’ve been getting massaged by Jessica who is amazing! She really cares about my well being and I always feel much less tense when I leave. I would definitely recommend this place. Located in a strip mall, but inside the space is very nice. Parking is minimal, but I havent had a problem. Regularly getting massages here and am very happy with the work. Khyran is a skilled professional and I always leave feeling better than when I came in.

December 2021: Took me awhile to find a massage in San Diego that I liked until I booked with Jessica! I immediately became a member after my massage with her. The monthly membership is very affordable and very worth it for me!July 2022: updating to add that Knots in Knead continues to be the best! Still a happy customer. The monthly membership and great online booking system make it quick and easy. When needed, I am able to get in contact with someone quickly.

I got a Groupon and thought to give them a try. A nice place Id say. The therapist really listened to my requests and was able to take care of me. They accepted online appointment so I was able to make an appointment at 1 in the morning. Plus they have monthly membership if you need a regular massage. Parking is a bit tight but not too bad.

Jessica is the best! The massages are fantastic! She is professional, listens and does a great job! The venue she has is set up really nice and in a great location as well. I tried several massage therapists in San Diego before finding Knots in Knead - now I wont go anywhere else! Highly recommend!

I gifted my mom a massage here. While Id never personally visited the salon, the reviews were incredible so I trusted the feedback. I am SO glad I did. My mom had a massage from Jessica and said that it is the BEST massage she has ever received. Additionally, my mom said it is very clean, and the staff is extremely friendly. Im so grateful that they took such great care of my mom. This is now my new go-to spot!!

Michael was awesome! I came here post-pilates in some serious need of a deep tissue massage and general neck/ back aches and pains. The studio is very clean, organized and cutely decorated. Michael very much educated me on how to improve my posture and help avoid future strains. Glad to have found this place!

Ive gone to Knots in Knead a few times for deep tissue massages, and every time has been a wonderful experience. Jessica is very kind and makes you feel really comfortable and relaxed. Her space is really clean and cozy. Its the best massage Ive ever gotten, and I go back to her every time I want one. And she offers some great packages for you to purchase multiple massages at a discount.

I just had the best massage from Leslie! I told her my goal was to relax and she made that happen for me. Leslie was professional, attentive to my needs. The massage had a great flow as well. And I was able to truly relax as there was no small talk. I plan to make an appt with her again soon.

I cannot recommend this place enough! I bought a 6 pack of facials and loved every single one! They felt beneficial, were priced well and left my skin feeling great. Jessica also has wonderful customer service. I will be returning here for all my future facials!

Its been an honor and privilege to see the Knots in Knead business grow and expand. All of the staff members are extremely kind and courteous. I see more and more customers in the shop, and its always cleaned and sanitized.Make sure to take advantage of their amazing promotional offers and discounts for monthly packages or gift certificates. Parking in front of the studio can get limited, so please be aware of that during your commute. Ive always had luck finding street parking, and Ive just learned that there is additional parking in the back of the building. I can locate and update this review next time. Overall, 5 stars for the services, hospitality, and ambiance.Update - There is a parking lot in the back of the complex for customers. The parking lot entrance is located near the Taco Bell drive thru (University Ave & College Ave). If you cannot find street parking on University Ave, or parking in front of the business, then Id recommend the back lot as a third option. Then, you can walk out of the lot and around to the front of the business entrance with ease.
