TAO Downtown Nightclub

The food at the restaurant is amazing, and the prices are fair for the quality you receive. However, Im giving a low rating due to the nightclub experience. While I was let in quickly without any issues, I observed that others were treated poorly based on their appearance. The bouncers clearly favored attractive white women and were rude and dismissive towards people of color. Its disappointing that, even in 2024, skin color still affects how customers are treated by staff who should be professional. Additionally, $40 for two shots and a $100 cover charge just to get in the place are outrageous. I do not recommend the nightclub, as there are plenty of places in the city that treat all people equally regardless of how you look, and give everyone the opportunity to enjoy their night. I will say again however, that the restaurant is excellent with great service. Highly recommend dining there.

Trust me I am helping you guys , I didnt read the review before going here, my entire Friday night Is gone thanks to the doorman Jimmy who probably in life didnt succeed and has a lot jealousy. He randomly handpicked people to charged $300 for bar tab fee despite have a ticket of ADMISSION for the event of $60 just based on his discretion, he Is a very jealous man! Jimmy you will never ever succeed in life. Direct Question to the owner , do you know how your doorman in the nightclub behave and treat people? I promise your investment will go down the drain , you will never sustain.

I recently visited Tap Downtown Nightclub, expecting a fun and enjoyable night out. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but pleasant due to unnecessary aggression from the staff and physical damage to my personal items.Upon arrival, the club seemed lively and well-organized. However, the night took a turn for the worse when I encountered overly aggressive behavior from the security personnel. Rather than maintaining order, their aggressive approach created a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere. This was not only uncalled for but also intimidating for patrons who were there simply to enjoy themselves.The most distressing part of the night was when one of the bouncers physically handled my belongings, leading to significant damage. My phone was scratched, and my bags strap was broken during an unnecessary altercation initiated by the staff. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and demonstrates a severe lack of professionalism and respect for customers.As a paying patron, I expect a safe and respectful environment. The actions of the staff at Tap Downtown Nightclub were a clear violation of this expectation. I would advise anyone considering a visit to be cautious and mindful of the potential for such negative experiences. If possible do not go at all.Overall, my night at Tap Downtown Nightclub was ruined by the unnecessary aggression of the staff and the damage to my personal items. Ladies, do you like being shoved by security and hostesses in a girls night out? This is a beautiful location with the rudest staff. From the doormen, security, hostesses, and on.I recommend taking yourself to their restaurant, pricy and worthwhile. But if you want to dance and have fun, go to starchild, fluer, marquee.NYC is not short of beautifully lavish experiences. Skip this one and thank me later.

After enjoying a pleasant dinner at TAO with a friend, we decided to check out the nightclub. However, our evening took an unpleasant turn when a blonde girl with short hair shoved me from behind and hurled insults. In the heat of the moment, I responded, but little did I know she was a staff member. Things escalated when she got security involved, and despite feeling targeted and threatened, I refused to give up my ID. This experience left me feeling shaken and unwelcome. Its disheartening to encounter such behavior, especially in a place meant for enjoyment. I wont be returning, and I hope others dont have to endure similar treatment. Sharing this to raise awareness that such behavior is unacceptable and can make patrons feel unsafe

So, my friend and I were having a great time at TAO, enjoying dinner and all. We decided to head over to the nightclub for some more fun. But things took a crazy turn when this blonde girl with short hair suddenly shoved my friend from behind and started hurling insults. My friend didnt take it lying down, and before we knew it, security was involved – turns out she was staff! It got pretty heated, but my friend stood their ground, even though they felt totally targeted. The whole situation left them feeling shaken and unwelcome. Its really disappointing that something like that could happen in a place where people go to have a good time. My friend wont be going back anytime soon, and Im sharing this story to let others know that this kind of behavior is not okay and can make people feel really unsafe.

$100 cover to get in and security does not even help woman that are being assaulted. They turn a blind eye to any SA that occurs and bouncers literally push and shove woman if they come up and ask for help. Hopefully legal action will be taken against select staff soon (this establishment supports employee and men SA against woman)

I had a deeply unpleasant experience with Jimmy, the doorman, recently. I had paid the $60 cover fee for a club event, but upon arrival, Jimmy demanded an additional $150. When I questioned this, he shouted at me, calling me cheap for not paying the unexpected charge. His aggressive and disrespectful behavior was humiliating and left a lasting negative impression of the establishment.

The white bouncer with the Mohawk hairstyle is racist and he is charging everyone a different fee based on what he prefers. He tried to charge me 150$ just to get in. He was very racist. This is 2024 and this is how Downtown Tao is? A lot of groups walked away based on how he was charging. The pricing is inconsistent. I don’t suggest anyone to go there. We told more people to walk away from there.

First told my guy friend to pay an extra $150 to come to his friends table. then Told a lady she couldn’t come in because she wasn’t pretty, also kicked girls out for knocking and opening bathroom door saying it disrespected the bathroom attendant.. They tried kicking out me and my group of women because we were tired after a long day of travel when we were sitting down. Absolutely no sense of understanding and they are very uptight. The atmosphere is ok. The security is very tight. There are better places in the city for sure.

Tao is a well known spot and a spot I refer to people who are new to the club scene . They play all types of music and it’s usually a diverse crowd. It’s kinda small but so are other clubs around ! Any other issues with racism and rude bouncers etc is common unfortunately in these spaces .

This is a beautiful venue! I recently attended a Gala here and the atmosphere is perfect for an evening, high-end occasion.

Besides the discrimination at the door and poor service from rude staff, they are known to spike drinks and do nothing to prevent / help victims please I’m begging you don’t go here , NYC is FULL of high end night clubs so it’s ok you can easily find a better option lol

Me and my friend went there and they tried to charge us 100 dollars each to get in. Absolutely rubbish lmao 100 dollars each to dance is quite literally nuts. If it’s a broke club and need to charge people 100 dollars just to come inside. Just say that 🙃😂

I only came to TAO because I was invited by promoters who paid for everything. However, the atmosphere was off and the DJ on thursdays is horrible. I would never pay to come here.

Ralph the head bouncer was very accommodating, calm and kind when dealing with guests. Give that man a raise! Its not easy running a club of this size and still keep professional and show humility.

I was there on a Monday night with a party of four. The bouncer by the coat check insisted that the coat check is mandatory and its $20 per coat. So that $80 on top of the the $800 plus we spent. The same bouncer by the coat check was rude on the way in and out for no reason. The bouncers by the door were professional. It a shame that the entire experience was ruined by one bouncer and the ladies at the coat check. Take a pass on this place.

I really enjoy my night over here! Music is fantastic, the staff is a little rude, but I was totally fine I think that is because everybody get crazy in here.

DJ was terrible and played bad music while saying some very uncomfortable things while playing music tonight. She shouldn’t be allowed back. Everything else was good but never let her back. Terrible DJ

Very rude and discriminative upon arriving. They were allowing all girls who took off their jacket in, but girls who were dressed modest were not allowed in until they open a tab for $200 each. Disgusting staff and very rude and racist. It’s crazy pack as well where people are just creep inside and don’t know what giving space means. One of the bouncers wanted a way, instead of being nice and being like excuse me to the girls he was just pushing/pulling them as if they were his property. In the moment of heat we had to push the bouncer off of the girl cuz he was extremely disrespectful towards woman and just grabbing them as he pass along as if he owns the club. Moral of the story, super expensive for Extremely toxic/disgusting atmosphere and environment along with the staff.

Very rude bouncer, and a very expansive cover charge (100$ pp)In addition, the security inside didn’t do much to stop harassments.They request from you to sign on the tip amount before you enter the party.And they want 5$ for each coat or umbrella.The prices inside are expansive regardless ($20 for a glass of wine).The bartender was really nice though and the music was good.

I dont know why people say bad things about this place because its a good place, the atmosphere is good, but its a place where youll pay more there, its not for everyone to go. If you cant go there, go somewhere else which is cheaper, but theres no need to say anything bad about the place.

Had a disappointing experience at this place. The atmosphere seemed unwelcoming, and the bouncers were quick to spoil any attempt at having a good time. Went a few nights back with a date. Got in early (11-12), card and ID taken, told minimum tab 150$. Prefilled tip, 18, 20, or more. Stick to bottled beer if you want booze, there isnt much in their drinks. I recall a tab of ~160-170, but was charged 210. So the 18% tip doesnt always seem to stay at 18%. Youre spending, you know what youre getting yourself into.Seems like only girls, or girl-heavy groups were let in before 1am. Music was alright, top 40s from 2000-. The space looked quite nice. Bartender was extremely attentive. In retrospect, I think they just didnt keep track of who they charged, because I dont recall him ever asking my name.Staff always seemed to appear when needed, and disappear when not needed. So that was cool. I didnt pay for a table, but the tables seemed well stocked.

As a news journalist, Tao Downtown is the example of how not to treat any individual at any professional establishment.In particular, one main doorman, a Latin guy with a beard, is unfortunately the most unprofessional clown with no real home training. He is a rude embarrassment to the Tao Group with his awful behavior and had a strange personal vendetta against me.It’s lack of decorum that gives clubs like Tao a really awful name, especially worse when it comes to the most peculiar behavior to a Black man like myself.

Place was way smaller than expected, a man from security, Adbula LOST MY EXPENSIVE BELONGINGS and gave it to someone else and instead of paying back for it he got Raf the head of security or manager idk to just get me another one from lost and found, i did not ask for that… was not satisfied at all with the place, it was hot and very small and the waiters were cleaning up the table every 10 minutes as if we still didn’t have ode alcohol left he just wanted us to buy more. the energy was not it and it was all guys mostly and they were boring. i’m really mad at the fact that security took my belongings and personally lost it and saying they gave it to someone else that is not acceptable at all.

Definitely a below average club, avoid. Crowd was mostly men, space was fairly small, music was mostly outdated, and worst of all, barman tried the usual scam of putting random drinks on tab (which is not uncommon in New York, be ware). When I argued I never had some of the drinks that appeared in my tab, they immediately removed some (see photos) but not all and I still ended up paying for more than what I had. On top, in addition to the 18% tip you agree to pay at entry when the doorman says you need to open a $150 minimum-spend bar tab for yourself and your girldfriend, they charge another 8% “admin” fee, so you really end up paying 26% on top of your actual bill, keep that in mind. It is also worth noting a small bottle of water (20cl) costs $9 (see receipts) and they don’t offer any tap water. Cloak room also costs another $5 per piece which you might think is ok, but it unfortunately also means that a lot of people will be dancing with their coats on.

Most poor place in the world! Have no respect to tourist people at all! Good luck guys!

The door guy is a colorist never have they never charge to get in the club now today he tried to charge me 150$ that was a total turn off never again tao has to do better hire someone new who isn’t a colorist and I was dressed up they let girl with beat up uptown sneakers & regular Jeans on in without trying to charge her. I’ve been there numerous time just today after dinning in the restaurant. Totally unacceptable !

A few friends and I came to celebrate a birthday, seemed ok at first but as soon as we wanted to leave the girl at the coat reserve was extremely rude and although I finally got my friends coat, as we walked out she started offending our family and us? I’ve never experienced a club so unprofessional in my life- I was actually baffled. I wouldn’t recommend this club and wouldnt recommend trusting them with your coat otherwise expect an argument and immature behavior lol. Good luck!

Met Ricky and he was great, check in was smooth. Was greeted by a girl Aileen and she was an absolute angel. I didn’t know where the bathroom was and she took me there while the club was packed through the crowd. Any time I came and asked a question she answered right away with all the details will definitely be coming back to visit.

Brilliant atmosphere, superb food and the wonderful woman at the front desk welcomed us and made us feel special.

If you aren’t white or wealthy you are treated with disgrace. The racial / varied profiling, being pressured to strip their pockets like a prison, while being aggressively patted down, made my electronic smash. The coat check folks don’t prioritize you (minorities) regardless of having a ticket number and even their partners “Temple Emanuel” won’t take your complaints nor will the service people give you directions. Hey, observe the sculptures, but don’t get too excited of the food quality for the high price you pay of entry.

People that work there are aggressive and creepy, i dont feel safe going there as a woman.

This club was lit! Great music, beautiful ambiance, very good vibes! Ladies looked good and all nicely dressed up. Would go back every weekend if I wasn’t trying to lower my cost of living and make my liver last until I’m 100 yo. It was pricey to get in though, $130 pp + tax + 18% gratuity. But I drank the $130 which gave me like 5 Moscow Mules, 2 champagne glasses and a water. It was lit. Coming back soon!

Shocking experience. Two friends and I holidaying here from Australia wanted to check out TAO Nightclub after dinner. We didn’t even make it past the front door due to the arrogant bouncer making his choices on who he should and shouldn’t let in based on no set rules. As we got to the start of the line he stated the only way we could get in is by paying $400USD minimum on a bar tab.I’ve travelled all over Europe, Asia and recently other parts of America, as a foreigner to be turned away due to a bouncers choice is disappointing. TAO does not specify any need for a minimum spend or rules. Ridiculous.

Definitely over-hyped! Doormen aren’t the nicest and very selective on who they let in. Fortunately my friend and I were let in with little to no argument, but they told the guys ahead of us that it was a $400 bar tab to gain entrance, which was complete nonsense because they didn’t tell us that, or anyone they deemed “worthy” to get in. If they try to charge you a ridiculous amount of money for entrance, they’re lying! Go elsewhere, they’re trying to discourage you! The DJ was corny, so was the crowd. A mixture of pop and hip hop, but most of the hip hop was old and overplayed. DJ had terrible transitions, people were walking back and forth all night, rudely bumping into you left and right. There was little pockets of dancing here and there, but most were standing around or annoyingly walking around because they probably can’t dance. I don’t know why they’re so selective at the door, I’ve had more fun at spots in the hood. Only gave an additional star because the decor is lovely, but other than that, waste of time. Boring at best.

I was forced to coat check a bag of packaged gourmet desserts that cost $200. I stepped out of the club for a moment to get my girl something out of the dream hotel, when we came back they had closed Tao an hour before their posted closing time and wouldn’t give back our coat checked items. Next day the restaurant staff said my bag was thrown out because the items are perishable….I wasn’t even given 24 hours to retrieve it after the club closed EARLY. This entirely ruined my day, those treats were very expensive annd important to me and no one batted an eye about tossing them after I had to pay $5 just to have them held by staff. Unfortunately I plan to tell my girls “anywhere but Tao” moving forward and I’m the one who gets us in the clubs. My friends and I have spent thousands on birthdays here & the restaurant and just lost thousands more. it’s been nice knowing you Tao, but actually more disappointing and frustrating and not worth early closures and having my expensive gift trashed right away.

My go to nightclub! I wish they would’ve expand this space more. The DJs are most of the time great, they would play great remix of songs after songs that makes you not want to leave!

Worse place in NYC period. The security guards at the door are so racist and disgusting. They didn’t let me in after seeing 3 id my ID’s and claimed my ID’s were fake. I showed a military ID and said I show it everywhere I go and they never have an issue and he rudely responds back that I have an “attitude” and that even if I showed a second ID now he wouldn’t let me in and said “have a good night”. I am a loyal customer of TAO and come there every week. Whoever these guards were (2 black guys, one tall, one with a tooth gap) need to be fired immediately. They called me “crazy” for sitting outside and waiting for my friends who were in meanwhile they were the ones who rejected 3 IDs. The tall guy specially was so disrespectful and acted entitled. The manager at TAO restaurant (Alexander) was so sweet and let me sit inside and brought me water and was so helpful. However, those guys at the front at TAO nightclub at (11:45 pm onwards) need to be checked and replaced.

Cover was $60 each, understandable (ish). 2 redbull vodka’s = $98 …. No crowd control, and horrible service with a one bar for all.If you get ppl together and buy a bottle it can be feasible to enjoy.

They are so rude. My husband and I went to the restaurant and they told us that getting into the club is free, and the $40 online price was to reserve a table. When we got to the club the guy who seemed to be the manager said “so you can either pay $60 per person as a cover charge or each have to spend a minimum of $100 at the bar”. After telling him what the waiter said, he immediately told us we were no longer welcome. We then saw him letting in people for free. They are so rude here, I do not recommend.

I will never go to this club in NY again. This club is VERY selective. I honestly felt they selected and chose (depending on race, gender, weight, body type, class, etc) who they would let into the club. I have never had this bad of an experience at a club ever in my life. I have traveled the world and been to multiple clubs in different countries. I went to Tao for dinner with friends and figured wed go to the club right after. We got in line and the bouncer refused to let us in. We continuously kept asking why we couldnt be let in and he didnt give a reason why. He kept letting others in but not us. I finally asked another bouncer who seemed to be his manager. He asked me for a $400 bar tab and I agreed. This same bouncer came up to the manager explaining why I couldnt be let in. It came to a point where people in line started to notice the issue. A group of men invited us to their table and the bouncer continued to not include us in and told us even though we were technically on the vip list we couldnt go in. I have never been to this club ever in my life and I dont even know who this man was but he didnt want to let me in or my friends which was so frustrating because I couldnt think of a reason why. Its not like I was drunk and couldnt comprehend what was happening. I recorded half of our interaction because I truly feel what happened was so uncalled for and I dont believe this person working the doors should be in this industry. I was not a threat to the club in any which way shape or form. All I wanted to do was support the restaurant we went to prior and clearly that man did not want to make that happen. I am very serious about following up with management about this and a google review is just the first step.

Door men acting like they own the club, I was assisting one of my coworkers because he was really drunk and I got kicked out from the club after I spend a thousand dollars. Door man’s was laughing at me like nobody business. I was treated like a beggar, worst ever experience clubbing. Not recommended coming here even the music is good. Bad bad bad experience. You should train your staff more of how to treat customers.!!!!!!!!

What a scam. I spent a couple of thousand dollars at the bar and the club was full of dudes. A few gold digging fluzies were scattered around and some working girls. The bouncers really thought they were the cats meow in this place. Its okay since this is clearly the peek in their lives. Little do they know my bar tab was probably more than they make in a few months working there. Save your money, there are better options in nyc. Young guys definitely beware. There are younger women in there, but, they come with a price tag if you catch my drift.

Halloween party review:The good: the bartender work fast and the people inside create a good atmosphere. Place relative clean and not hot like other clubs. The boss of the bouncer was more proactive and more kind the the bouncersThe bad: 1)it didnt matter if you have the ticket for Halloween party ,still you have to wait a lot in line while the bouncer allow other people to enter and make business to allow people enter first.2) Do not buy drink here,it has one of the worst and expensive cocktail that I have trying in a club. The Jack Daniel and coke was a joke.3) the waitres or drink girls are extremely rude they just walk and push you4) every 5 minute you have someone walking with a lantern in your face to check stuff and move you around, you cannot enjoy dancing5) the DJ was a joke maybe for generation z public. I wanted to leave and apparently no one knew where my american expresss credit card was. i was so confused. it took 30 mins to get my license and credit card and they gave me attitude. Then apparently I got my credit card. I would never recommend going to the night club the food is absolutely amazing but the night service is horrible they take your credit and license and refuse to give to you DO NOT GO TO THIS NIGHT CLUB PERGOLA IS WAYYY BETTER

Weird vibes. The bouncer was gross and annoying. The promoter was gross and annoying. The music was not good, and extremely loud to the point where no one could get in a single word. The girls were all hot and in their early 20s, while all of the men were in their mid-40s. Not great. Undesirable, lol. Will not be returning 💕

The security guards that work here are disrespectful. We had our coats and belongings on the booth next to our table, then they came over to say “big spenders” are coming and we have to move. We said no problem then went to get our things. The security guards however took our stuff from us and threw it on the ground, laid their hands on us, flashed their light on our eyes as if we are a herd of cows. We told them we are moving but we had limited space to due to the crowd. They pushed my friends and did not care how disrespectful they were. How dare you lay your hands on a woman!!! Never come here they only care about your money and have no problem jeopardizing your experience if it means money is involved

Anthony did a great job as a Host, very hospitable, Kendall also took great care of us as well as Ali making sure that everyone felt safe and comfortable. I’ll certainly be returning soon!

I recently had a reservation with friends from Australia. The Seating time was about an hour after our requested reservation time. Everybody was at the prescribed venue on time. That was my biggest complaint; the staff told us we could wait by the night bar and grab a drink while we wait. Our server was very hospitable and knowledgeable of the menu. Didn’t get any orders wrong and all food came out within 25 minutes of ordering. The food was absolutely amazing and so were the drinks. Overall a great food experience. We stepped into the night club shortly after dining and had a great time as well although the staff might’ve not been as attentive as we would’ve liked. Regardless great atmosphere to have a night out

Service is extremely poor. The waitstaff think they’re better than you and treat you as if you you’re not good enough to eat at Tao. The food is alright, but $17 for fried rice??!? I don’t think so. Head to china town for far better and more authentic food that’s less than a quarter of the price. You’re paying for the atmosphere and aesthetic of the restaurant, which really is outstanding. Service or taste of food—not so much. Complete tourist trap don’t waste your money here.

Friendly and polite bartenders.That being said, its a just a generic nightclub that plays an ok mix of mostly newer stuff. The DJ actually seemed to have fun playing older stuff you can dance too when the floor was empty but it devolves into mumble rap when the crowd gets there. This really has nothing to do with the Tao restaurants except for the decor. Plus, its ridiculously overpriced. I went with someone else and they required we put down $120 (after the automatic tip) as cover / prepaid bar bill.

Stupid logic to tell a group of 10 customers that you are doing the last orde in 5 minutes while at the same time commanding a 1500 USD minimum spend for the seats. Good luck with that strategy!

The worst Night Club if your just looking for a spot to chill and vibe to good music. Specifically for Men! All women are free to get in but they charge Men $500-$750 each to get in and if your in a group $2500 a table just to hang out for 2 hours! Do not go it’s over hyped!!! Just stay outside the girls are all out there anyway.

My first racial experience in America, the bouncers were rude and disrespectful. Made a remark “guys we dont need them in here”. This remark came from a spanish bouncer. My friends and I are black. He claimed we were in flat shoes, we saw a white group enter in sneakers and flats as well. When we questioned him he said they had a reservation. This establishment need to revise their staff as this is unacceptable and doesn”t speak well of your business. No one should be racially profiled in no circumstance.

One of our friends guaranteed us all (group of 8 friends meeting after 20years) that this place is something we will all like for sure. We were skeptical but boy he was right. The Thai temple based theme for the restaurant simply floored us all with its beauty. The elevated multi level restaurant architecture kinda brought memories of James Bond meeting a villain in a very elite place. The waitress was very cute and kind. She explained any and all questions about their menu of drinks. She also taught us how to drink a certain Redbull based cocktail. Wish we had reservation for the night club. Little pricey for getting last minute table at 1500$. I’d suggest booking one day in advance would be great to take your girl or friends there. Tao is the best restaurant I’ve been to so far. Just for their theme, it is awesome. Note: we sat right below the statue on the pic. So we might have come up in a lot of other people’s pics inadvertently lol.

Please think twice before you come here especially if you are celebrating something. Had a birthday celebration for my sister Saturday evening. Made a reservation for 5 pm had issues with traffic and parking, they accommodated us anyway thankfully but said that we can only have a table for 2.5 hours. Well I guess they meant it. Service was terrible, food was ok. We couldn’t find a waiter to order more food or drinks. And then they kept reminding us we have to leave the table which is horrible. The waiter disappeared, acted weird then called the manager, she came, gave us a lecture, said we can be accommodated in the lounge which was ok but what is not ok is the whole experience. Im definitely no ever coming to Tao downtown or for that matter to any Tao. If that is there business model I will definitely not be a part of it and of course I do not recommend businesses that spoil customer experience. This was a first for me

Came to the city to have a good time and thought Tao would be the perfect place the spend the evening dancing. Lined up outside for over 30 minutes with no movement. Bouncer ignored us for the whole time and finally bothered to ask if we either knew a promoter or wanted to drop 1200 bucks on a table. How would tourists to the city know a promoter? Why isnt that information readily available? Never been shutout of a bar with 4 girls in tow, mindblowing. Looking at the other google reviews, Im not surprised we left with the sour taste we did. Would not recommend.

Went on a Friday with a friend. Admission is random; you might get in, you might not. On what basis? No one knows. Can be your looks, the bouncers mood, the weather etc... eventually we did get in but unlike others, we did not get a stamp. Which basically means we had to pay a charge. We didnt mind, but again, its nice to know on what basis we were chosen to pay 20$ each. Once inside, we were surprised to see how small the place actually is. You can BARELY move. Dance? You cannot. 1st cause, well theres no space. People are just pushing you around and spilling drinks all over you. 2nd cause the DJ or the random guy next to him kept interrupting the song and shouting random things. LET US DANCE for Gods sake. On top of all, there are 10 security guards on the dance floor asking you to move away from the tables (where are we supposed to go?) Then another guy comes to wipe the floor (really? In that chaos?) Its just a big mess. Most importantly the drinks: 23$ for a vodka and cranberry which was basically just cranberry. Absolutely no alcohol in it and this is coming from someone with a very low alcohol tolerance. Sorry TAO you were just a big disappointment.

Sadly Tao nightclub, including their unskilled , untrained and absolutely inadequate staff poison the innovative and successful vision the founders of Tao impose . I hope administration addresses critical and destructive flaws of the internal system of operation and reservation that is currently present at Tao nightclub NYC. The 3.3 star rating speaks of itself . Do better Tao .A definite No for me for investment of an elite service and VIP. Definitely not a VIP

A girl stole my friends Chanel purse and then cut her with her nails when she tried to get her bag back. Tao security let the girl keep the bag even though it had my friends hotel hey card and ID in it. They let the girl leave with the $4,000 purse and gave my friend a band-aid. One of the worst displays of security I’ve ever seen in my life.

Myself and two friends had dinner at Tao this week to restaurant week and to celebrate a friends birthday.The ambiance was amazing and the host staff was very nice.Our reservation was at 6:30pm and they knew we were there to celebrate a birthday. It was early so there were still many available tables. They my party was sat next to the waitstaff section. Where the waitstaff rings up bulls, gets water and utensils and hover around watching the room and their tables. Onet of the waiters slamed a pitcher of water down so hard at the the waitstaff section, water literally came out of the water pitcher and onto my friend who sat closest to the station.The food was delicious. But when I asked for the rest of my appetizer to go, when the waiter came back with it, he put my food on the floor. I really didnt like that. Why would you put someones food on the floor???For desert we all ordered the same thing, warm chocolate cake it was a small molten cack with Carmel ice cream. They even put a candle and a chocolate happy birthday plack on my friends serving. My serving on the other hand, the cake was already broken and the center of my molten cake w a oozing out. I asked for another order and the waiter had an attitude about it.Lastly when we received the bill, the waiter said let me know when youre ready. She literally returned 2 mins later, opened the bill to see if we had paid yet and walked off. SmhAmbiance is beautifulHost staff was greatFood was deliciousWaitstaff on the other had sucked.And the service was meh. We felt rushed and as if there was an attitude when something was pointed out.

I had a horrible time at TAO night club, I went there to meet a friend of mine that was already inside celebrating his best friends birthday who’s a producer and they had me waiting outside for longer than an hour. The bouncers take their jobs a little too serious, one was very rude and grabbed my cousin and I for no reason because he thought “that another bouncer or someone superior to him said that we weren’t allowed to go in”, after another bouncer told him that, that wasn’t directed towards us he let us go and did not even apologize. I thought that he was joking until I looked him in his eyes, I honestly did not even want to go in after that but I didn’t want to ruin the night more than the damage that was already done. I suggest you guys stay away from this place, I don’t want to make this about race but maybe because we’re black they gave us a really hard time.

Been to plenty of clubs. This was ok, nothing made it stand out. The actual club is a bit on the small side its only one room and the door man only let us in after committing to spending $300 on drinks. I came to spend so I wasnt tripping. But still this is shady, they pick out ppl and try to make them spend. The crowd was aight, diverse in ethnicity and age. Wont be coming back. Cant recommend. Save your money and go somewhere else.

You can keep this place. The restaurant side is great but the club, not so much. Starting with their haphazard admitting system, which is basically just a free for all of multiple lines zig zagging around the ropes and the promoter or whomever randomly stamping and letting people in. A cover charge is expected in manhattan but who does and doesnt pay should have some resemblance of criteria.Once you do get inside though its much smaller than youd think with a narrow dance floor of people standing around. The DJ didnt let one song play for more than 40 seconds before wildly swapping and mashing together numerous genres.But to boot and why I wrote this is, while my friends and I stood off to the side of the bar a men in black extra wanders over and tells everyone we have to move a VIP wants the area. Move? Where? With a packed out club and literally no more standing room where do you suggest I move to? Ill tell you where, outside, because we left. 21$ for ONE mostly ice cocktail and 20$ to get it later, I can safely say, pick another night life spot.

Really small club, DJ bounces from song to song of different types of music every 20 seconds and bar bills are total scam. Wft is a 10% admin fee on top of a $20 doorman fee and all added to your actual drink bill to then pay tip on top of it.

We waited almost an hour to get into their 11pm opening time. We were the first ones in line and they refused us because we didnt have a reservation. There is nowhere on the websites to book a reservation for the nightclub besides the VIP reservation. A waste of time, don’t go here!

Its definitely a place that you have to visit at least once. Food is amazing every time I go. You can make a reservation for a main dining table or take your chances at the bar/lounge area

Went to this club with my boyfriend and we saw how a bouncer kicked out a girl just because she said “hey cmon” to him after he spilled drinks on her and bumped into her in a really aggressive way. Really disappointed with this club.After this we were trying to line up for the bathroom and the same bouncer who kicked this girl out shouted at my boyfriend saying that he shouldn’t be there unless he was a lady, referring to him with the question “are you a lady or what?”

I was kicked out of the place in the most disrespectful way all because she told one of the employers that she watered me. They all pulled me and my friends who were defending me out, saying that I was sober and had done nothing.

Great place to go with friends, sophisticated atmosphere. A great option for a night out in NYC.

Terrible. invasive security. Small place, if you dont have a table youll get bored as it is mainly structured for tables as there is no one on the dance floor. At the entrance they told us that entry cost $60 but at the checkout they charged us $70.

Two 50-year-old couples went to have a different time, the truth is in the most respectful way, we think, businesses where customers are mistreated dont have much life. I understand that it is a night business and it is relatively difficult, however they cannot treat people especially us foreigners from Costa Rica like drunks.
