The Hive at High Rock - Glamping, Thermal Spa and Wedding Venue

We didn’t know what to expect when deciding to book the 3 hour session. Upon arriving, Josh was so amazing. This place is absolutely beautiful. We booked the 3 hour spa for two. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Everything from the atmosphere, to the service, to the peacefulness, is out of this world. I’ve never had a more peaceful experience. This actually brought me and my significant other closer together. We relaxed in the hot tubs holding hands and discussed things that brought us closer together. Hands down, would recommend this to anyone. We will be back and can’t wait. Thank you Josh for such a life changing experience. We are forever grateful!

The Hive was AMAZING! We love the whole experience from the moment you arrive till the time you leave. Josh greeted us with such hospitality and we left with fresh eggs! The salt scrubs and soaking tubs blew us away. We repeatedly did 3 mins in the sauna and 3 minutes cold plunge tub and my body felt like new again. The upstairs yoga deck had a massage table which felt fabulous in the open air. Overall, definitely a must see!! We will be back!

I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday in nature while visiting Kentucky. I started off with a spa experience at The Hive, and I can’t say enough great things about it. From the moment you walk in, it is an absolute paradise, the peace you feel as you walk in and see the surroundings of the place makes it a 20/10 experience. Josh was great on explaining everything and he was very accommodating. I don’t want to write many details because I want everyone to experience it for themselves but I recommend this experience to everyone. I would leave a 20 star review if I could!

I won a giveaway for a trip for 2 to the temple spa. I must admit I was nervous before arrival; I had no clue what to expect from the logistics, I had only seen social media posts of the inside of the spa.The gps took us almost directly to the driveway, just had to go up the road a bit. It was unnerving at first but we quickly saw the sign by the entrance (but it’s a smaller one so keep an eye out)Upon arrival we were greeted at the main building by a very sweet employee who gave us a tour & gave us a rundown of where things were/ how they worked.Overall, the experience was WONDERFUL! So peaceful, extremely beautiful. The little details really made it for me. The products they supply are heavenly, and the amenities prove they really thought of everything!

What a lovely treat! My daughter surprised me with an afternoon at the Temple Spa. Private, quiet and relaxing. It was amazing!!! Josh has an exquisite eye for detail. Mixes and matches decor and it all works perfectly. Especially enjoyed the water feature and fog. I absolutely enjoyed and will definitely be back.

One of the most relaxing experiences Ive been fortunate to enjoy . A nice quiet remote location hidden amongst the ever winding roads of the beautiful hilly country side. The decor blends in with the natural surroundings so well you feel like you have entered a whole different world and you do! You can just not feel the peace and tranquility of the surroundings as much as absorb and let it resonate. The spa is also very private making it perfect for couples to bond and reconnect without worry of any interruptions and can simply be free of inhibitions and self conscious thoughts. The beauty of the settings is near indescribable. An abundance of decor aged nicely in its antiquity repurposed and blended nicely with a touch of modern technology just enough to make you feel as if you went to the past to get away from it all. The blend of structure with nature was a wonderful viewing pleasure as well. To still be outdoors a bit and have so much privacy is such a mind freeing experience that it can only be described as both natural and spiritual. My wife and I left feeling like new people after our time at the spa which was a perfect start to our week here in Kentucky! Thank you!

Where do I even start!? This place was home away from home! The artistic creativity was absolutely amazing. Not only can you see it but you can feel the love that was poured into every piece of this property. And don’t forget to book your thermal spa while you’re there, it’s unlike anything you’ll ever experience. Joshua is amazing!

We can’t express how incredible our experience was. I mistyped the address and it took us 1.5 hours away with 30 minutes until our appointment. I contacted Josh and, even though he was out town, he and his staff made changes to accommodate us. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. It was the best experience. It helped us reconnect with ourselves and each other. We are sure to suggest it to all of our friends and family.

Most beautiful place. Brought my son here for his 15th birthday as a surprise. He loved it. The creativity of the place is amazing. So peaceful. Its the simplicity of the plane that makes you wonder why we buy things for homes that are meaningless. I could live like this for the rest of my life how this is set up. Came back for the Thermal Spa and it exceeded all expectations! Josh’s attention to detail is unmatched and down right impeccable. It is literally otherworldly. It feels like you’re on a tropical island somewhere in the most luxurious spa, but tucked away in the beautiful hills of Red River Gorge. Do yourself a favor and indulge in this absolute sanctuary. Perfect for solo adventures, girl getaway, date night or a honeymoon! My mom and I left on cloud nine and so incredibly relaxed. Needless to say, we did not want to leave. Can’t wait to go back in a few weeks! Hands down one of my favorite places on the planet.Original review: Stumbled upon this absolute gem in early August. Booked a shared room for the first time and admittedly I was a bit nervous but Josh was the most hospitable and welcoming host! He greeted us with a smile and sat to chat with us for a bit and gave us a bit of history on how he ended up in Red River Gorge, what all he has done with his property and what he is planning to do. He also shared his plans of his thermal spa and sure enough in less than a month it was up a running. Quite impressive!The main cabin is very well kept and decorated very tastfully. Tons of awesome little touches including lots of plants and a record player with a vast selection of music to enjoy. Everything was clean and organized. He then showed us out to the backyard and my mind was absolutely blown! He has created such a magical and peaceful space. A little slice of heaven in the hills of Kentucky. Ive already booked another trip and cannot wait to experience his new thermal spa. He has the perfect setup for small retreats or weddings and I cannot recommend this place enough! Since Ive been home I dont think Ive stopped talking about The Hive at High Rock. Do yourself a favor and book a stay & spa treatment here. Promise you will not regret it!!

Came to the thermal spa for a night out during our honeymoon. The owner was so nice. The spa itself was amazing. If you love the outdoors and relaxing, it is 1000% worth it.

My family and I love The Hive very much! We have stayed in the Barrel House and enjoy the outdoor spa. The barrel house was very comfortable for our family and in a beautiful location. In the outdoor spa I did 2.5 minutes in the cryotherapy tub and sat in the sauna and I also enjoyed showering with such a beautiful view. I will definitely be coming back, especially for the spa as were local and this is a great date night spot! Always recommending this spot to friends/family that are visiting as well.

All around favorite place to stay when I go to the gorge. The overall vibe is so comforting, tranquil, relaxing yet adventurous, and aesthetically pleasing.When you first meet Josh you gain an instant friend. He knows the area like the back of his hand and will go above and beyond to accommodate you andYour groups needs. I have stayed when it’s been summer, fall, cold, and even rainy and it’s always a memorable experience. The tents are spacious, private, clean, and relaxing, the Peddlers Mall bar and the fire pit are a small walk away and where you can meet some friends for a drink and a story. The Hive is a MUST STAY YALL. Easy drive to restaurants and hiking trails.

This place feels like a collision between art and nature. It is beautiful and comfortable and inspiring. In a world where too many overnight experiences are intent on being dull and repetitive. This one is bright and unique. Stay here or spa here and you won’t regret it.

This place really makes you feel like youre inside of a time capsule! We stayed in the Whitney and it was so cozy. The bed was so comfortable, I cant remember the last time I slept that well! I have been to RRG more times than I can count, it’s my favorite place to run to when I need to be still. This was my first time at The Hive at High Rock and there are no words to describe the magic of this place! You must come and experience it for yourself! I stayed in the Fernweh, a room in the communal cabin. The room was charming and cozy! The cabin had everything I needed to start my adventures of the day and I must mention the host Jordan was so very kind and was very helpful in directing me in climbing and hiking!At the end of my adventures on Saturday I came back to enjoy a soak at The Temple… this was an experience I will never forget!

Went for a solo weekend to disconnect, and it was perfect. The details in design of this place are very impressive. The tent was clean, bed comfortable. The star of the show was the spa - you’ve got to book a visit. I was so impressed I’ve been telling friends about it for the past couple of months, one just came back from their stay and was also amazed. Check it out, you won’t regret it.

The Hive has become my favorite getaway place! Josh, the owner has taken being a steward of the land to the next level. This was the most beautiful Glamping experience I’ve ever had! Every detail was divine. So much gorgeous nature to be a part of and still get an amazing nights rest! The comfort of the mattress, the gorgeous mirrors, the amazing shared outdoor bathroom/showers, the quality of the linens, the selection of teas! All 5 stars! Staying in The Whitney made me never want to be in a normal tent again. I am spoiled & its ok!I was blessed to experience four luxurious visits this season to the Thermal Spa. It literally transformed my life. Its sacred space evoked the goddess within to fully show up & be seen & worshiped. Since my first visit, my life has became richer & my sexuality more sacred.It was like Josh had been snooping around in my mind and created exactly what I have been dreaming of for years! I love being in nature naked! I love bathing outside! He has made that dream come to life! His worldly travels have influenced each choice & decision he put into his creation. I felt transported to Bali. The Thermal Spa is a priceless experience everyone deserves!

This place is an amazing gem in the forest. I have visited a few times now, most recently for a thermal spa experience which exceeded all of my expectations. The candles, the bubbles, the sound of the crickets in the night air, the incredible ambiance and creativity that has gone into making this place one of the dreamiest places I have ever visited.I cant recommend this place enough. It is a masterpiece of design and creativity. The decor is an incredible combination of rustic, chic, upcycled, hipster and boho. And the hospitality is just as down to earth and real as the wood that the furniture is made out of.Fairy lights at night, lighting up the tents and the bar, vintage light fixtures, reclaimed claw foot tubs, this place has so much character, charm and soul.You will be so glad you made the trip out there. Youll thank whomever told you about it.

Josh has created an absolutely beautiful space! Peace and seclusion at its finest. Everything is decorated beautifully and he really took the time to add the best details to everything. The stargazer tents are so cozy and inviting and the shower house is incredible! You can also rent a room in his cabin and have all the amenities of home, including breakfast! Josh has really thought of everything. Don’t hesitate, book your stay there now!

Where to begin! This place is out of a fairy tale, was gifted a spa package for my Birthday.... Best Experience Ever! Josh, was so accommodating and kind. We had Moctails that were to die for followed by hot stone claw foot soak tubs, face mask, cold dips. The ambiance was breath taking along with the roof top veiw... gnarley, the stars were perfect for viewing! I could have stayed there forever!! Will definitely be booking again and again! October couldnt have started any better! 🧡

My wife and I tried the soaking tubs here for my bday treat. It was absolutely out of this world. Josh infuses magic into ever detail. Everything was delicious and luxurious. I left feeling pampered and so relaxed. I will def be doing this again and again. Backwoods luxury at its finest!

Gorgeous Location! My husband surprised me with this lil’ getaway. Josh the host, has created a welcoming and friendly hot spot.Truly an absolute serene environment. I can imagine every season here has a benefit nestled away in the Red River Gorge. This was a beautiful season to choose watching the colorful leaves. The tents are quite modernized with an awesome heater to snuggle in for a comfortable evening. We will be back to bring our kids…..in their own tent of course.And a big benefit: Josh kept lines of communication open before, durning and after the trip to ensure we were well taken care of! We are very thankful and appreciative.

One of the greatest places I have ever stayed in the Red.Josh (the host) is incredibly knowledgable of things to eat & do around town. His hospitality is beyond any other host Ive stayed with.The entire space is truly magical. From the tents (with AC) to the A-Frame, the outdoor showers and the newly added spa. Truly a magical place.Its great spot to rent as a group or go solo to meet some new friends around the fire. 100% recommend staying here!

The Hive is such a magical, special place. Everything is designed so well - both practical and artful. I love the tent I stayed in, with a super comfortable mattress, AC (!), and a record player! The bath house is wonderful too, the showers are awesome and the composting toilets are clean and dont smell at all. I would love to stay here again, and would definitely recommend it.

Great airBnB with an amazing host… it’s clean, quiet, and comfortable. There is so much to do around this area and the Hive is a nice central location. Some of the activities we did were bourbon distillery tours(several near by) as well as hiking at red river gorge and natural bridge state park. I would recommend staying for at least 4 days, seems like even that wasn’t enough time.

10/10 recommend! Josh is an amazing host and everything is super clean! The tents are a super unique place to stay and still close to RRG! Also close to a kroger! The whole area is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. Perfect place to curl up and read a book.

If you’re missing a little magic in your life…look no further. I stayed in the tents at the Hive and felt like a dreamy forest nymph being gently lulled to sleep by the tranquil harmonies of nature. The tents are so cozy and creative and the bathhouse is a work of art. You can also stay in the charming cabin for a home away from home feel. To top it off, the owner is a gem and a wonderful host. Overall, I was incredibly impressed by this enchanting escape nestled in the welcoming arms of the DB National Forest. But don’t take my word for it, embark on the unique journey yourself. You will be so glad you did.

Seriously the COOLEST place to stay! Even if you have no reason to go to Kentucky or youve never heard of the RRG, do yourself a favor and book a stay at the Hive - it warrants a trip itself!!1st STAY: I was lucky enough to be one of the Hives first guests upon opening - When we arrived, Josh (the host) greeted us and invited us to join him and some other guests around the bonfire. As it got dark, we even found blue glow bugs in the grass (that was my favorite part!!) We stayed in the Fernweh Room in the cabin - it was great for 2 friends traveling together. We had to leave pretty early the next morning for a full day of activities in the RRG, but Josh was awake and making breakfast for us before we even woke up. Totally unexpected!2nd STAY: The 2nd time I stayed at the Hive was the first weekend the glamping tents were open. Coming back to see all of the progress Josh had made since my first stay was amazing! The tents were each incredibly unique - decorated by local artists and musicians. And yall, let me tell you about THE SHOWER - ooooh, Im in love with the outdoor shower, it was soooo dreamy, I never wanted to get out. (see pics below) The common areas were welcoming and provided fun entertainment - community fire pit, corn hole, yoga deck/stage - there was even live music the night we stayed (one of the musicians that designed one of the tents - seriously so cool!)NEARBY ACTIVITES: Theres a TON to do in the RRG area and Josh was very knowledgeable on local attractions and places to eat. On my first trip, we did the RRG Zipline and then the Underground Kayaking, followed by some hiking. On my 2nd trip, we did the Crystal Underground Kayaking (clear kayaks so you can see straight down into the water) and Rock Climbing the next day.FOOD: Everywhere we ate was good, but you must stop for pizza at Miguels. Trust me. Its a whole vibe.The Hive at High Rock will be a place I visit again and again in the future and I cannot recommend Josh and his hospitality enough! (See pics from my stay below)

This place legit healed my soul. However cliché that may sound it was exactly what I needed at exactly the right time. Joshuas attention to detail is, bar none, excellent. I have been blessed to stay at quite a few higher end hotels in my life for business travel and the amenities and attention to detail that are not over looked rival each and every stay during those travels. The location is remote enough to have a peaceful and relaxing stay but close enough to quant little towns where the shopping and small-town life are quite charming. My only regret is that my stay was only for a long weekend. I look forward to my return trip and Im glad that I dont have to wait until spring to do so. During my stay Joshua was installing a insulated liner into the Lotus Bell yurt (The Whitney I believe) that will provide for year round accommodations. Wither you are a writer looking for tranquility to write, an artist searching for inspiration, or a family looking for a one-of-a-kind get away... This is the place. I fully expect to book a few of my friends and family members reservations and gift them this holiday season. The perfect getaway! I’ve had the best times at this woodsy retreat. From the soaking tubs, to the yoga deck to the fire pit. I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else when visits RRG!

Beautiful spot tucked away in the Red River Gorge area. I felt very connected to nature during my stay at the Hive. The accommodations are comfortable and unique. The host made my stay a breeze and I will definitely be back. I highly recommend staying yourself to see what the buzz is about!

Josh is very handy, and a generous man. He is always accommodating to all needs. I was in town for his 40th birthday bash and he had local musicians playing and plenty of good people around town hanging out. Great time will always come back for a good times.
